So Delicious

By susan p |

Homemade noodles and spicy sauce, oh my! Very delicious, give it a try! Outdoor tables for a lovely meal when evening is nigh.

Fast and tasty

By RASplint |

Ordered the stir fry noodles. They were clearly hand pulled fresh. Great chew. The stir fry a great spice level, and the staff is good at describing the levels. The order came out very quickly, and the staff was attentive, friendly and professional. Small place but there are some tables outside for good weather days.

Great place

By Jeri W |

I'm rating this a 4-star just because it's my Yelp account and not my husband's. He would give it a 3-star. We visited today with our granddaughter. She had been here once, loved it and wanted to share the experience with us. I was impressed. I love unique little places to eat and this was just it. Plus, I thought the homespun noodles delicious. Our waiter with green (or was it yellow) hair was great. He was friendly, efficient and fast. I liked him. The Noodle House is in an old house that's been converted. It was pretty packed at lunch today. Prices are great to go along with it. On a nice day there are tables outside for eating. However, they were even full. I thought this a great find!

Kind of Chinese food

By Grace Fu |

I think their noodles are okay, but not what I want. In budget but not so delicious. The handmade noodle is highly recommend!

Great fresh ingredients didn't disappoint

By NAMANN |

We grabbed a quick noodle lunch and boy, this was good. Two of us had noodles while a colleague had the soup and noodles. With the noodles, soup and green tea, the bill was $10 a person--very reasonable. I didn't think you could still get such a good meal for under $10. Fantastic.

Home made asian noodles!

By Buppa1 |

My granddaughter, her husband and i were in Portland for a family wedding. We had all over stuffed and were looking for something good but lighter so we tried Frank'. First rate home made noodles with interesting toppings. My granddaughter had the book chop, her husband and I split the noodles with pork belly and veg. both great

Sometimes expectations are exceded

By dan raphael |

Last couple places I've been to that I'd been wanting to go to for a while were disappointed. Not so with Frank's. The noodles are amazing--thick, long and squarish, tasty sauce,a good amount of pork belly, the right amount of vegetables. all about the hand-pulled noodles, also a fan of hot and sour soup, there's very good, more hot than sour, good-textured broth,, both light on the veggies. Excellent, efficient service,

Authentic muslim chinese noodles

By Sechari |

This happens to be my favourite kind of Chinese cuisine and very hard to find outside China. The handmade noodles are absolutely perfect and the red sauce is spot on as well. My fiance had the bulgogi and loved it. We went back the next day and I had the brown noodles which I had had in China as well and I have to say those weren't quite what I expected - I had to salt them quite a bit to get them to taste the way I remembered them. Doesn't matter, the noodles and the regular (red) sauce is so good this place gets a solid 5/5 anyway. One more thing: when they ask you how spicy you want it they follow an American scale. A "medium spicy" will get you a small kick and the highest level they offer will give you the level of spiciness this dish is supposed to be.

Yep....it is good

By martin82001 |

OKAY......went to Frank's because of the hype on the food network. We arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and there was already a line. Frank himself greet and seated us. The noodles were fantastic as was the service I suggest the vegetable noodles......yummy!

A must eat in local spot in Portland

By Rob R |

Wow is the word of the day for Frank's. Best noodles I have ever eaten in the states. I local Portlander told me about this place when I was in town so I tried it. Outstanding food and excellent service.

Good noodles.

By catali332016 |

The handmade noodles are amazing they give you a big dish. The sauce was underwhelming. The place was packed and like a lot of restaurants in Portland it was in a older house instead of a traditional restaurant. We walked from our motel. We were quoted a 40 minute wait but we walked to the store and back in 15 min and they already called our name. I liked the handmade chicken noodle but I feel like the sauce could be much better it's very bland to say the least. It was very hot inside the house and waiting front feels little strange. After tasting my friends veggie noodles they tasted almost the same.

Very Good Noodle House

By TellTruth2016 |

After watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, we picked up food to go from Frank's. Our choices were a noodle dish with chicken and Cashew Chicken. Both were fantastic. We will be going to the Beaverton location to eat at the restaurant soon.

Best.Noodles.Ever.

Saw this on Triple D and just knew I had to try it when I was in town...I can say without a doubt I was not disappointed and wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this gem more often! The fresh hand pulled noodles were incredible as well as everything else we had. Service was fast (they weren't lying when they seated us) and very friendly. Thank you to Frank and the rest of the staff for one of the best meals I've ever had!

How did this place make it on Triple D?

By Fairways250 |

We stayed in the Lloyd area and Frank's Noodle House was nearby and we vine Asian fare. We arrived at 8 PM (closing time was 9 PM). It is located in a cute house at the end of a street of shops and restaurants. Parking was easy - right on that street. We walked through the door and we're greeted with the very strong scent leaning products- not the smell of yummy Asian food I expected. There was a bucket of cleaning solution at the foot of the stairs. The restaurant was 90% full and it was apparent it was a warm neighborhood kind of place so I felt reassured after the initial poor impression. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. We were seated right away. We received complimentary dishes of Daikon and Kimchee upon arrival. We ordered the teriyaki chicken and a side of noodles. My son had the shrimp fried rice. Dinner arrived promptly and we dug into our meals. The food lacked flavor. I ate about 25 % of my meal and lost my appetite. About 8:30 the staff began bussing tables and flipping the chairs over on top of the tables we we're surrounded by the legs of chairs with dirty cutoff tennis balls as sliders. It became clear they wanted everyone to clear out. We were offered to-go boxes which we declined. We left and I spent the last 24 hours of my vacation rushing to the restroom. I would avoid Frank's for the lackluster food, questionable hygiene and sketchy service. I learned a great lesson, just because a place is on TV doesn't make it good. Guy, you steered us wrong.

Go for the noodles

By OldGuyfromBay |

We went to Frank's with a large group for dinner, looking for a change of pace after Thanksgiving. We were told the noodles were great -- we tried them and were not disappointed. It seems very authentic, not fancy or expensive. The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy but it may have just been my imagination. Worth a visit.

Delightfully fulfilling!

By Cesar G |

We went to Frank's Noodle house and knew right away that it was going to be great. It was on a Saturday and it was pretty hectic. The noodles were delicious and truly filled me up. The ambiance was great and the service was excellent. Tips: I would say that the spiciness is higher than usual. So if you normally get a 3 at Frank's (on a 1-5 rating) it would taste more like a 4 anywhere else. That is not a bad thing if you love spicy food. And I looove spicy food. So it was good for me. It is more of a heads up for those who cannot tolerate something higher than a 3.

Clean Chinese

By spryry2020 |

Be aware that they close early in the afternoon! A great place to meet with friends & chat over tea & Chinese. Classy & clean for a Chinese restaurant, really nice portions, average $15 a person.

Awesome food

By Ahems |

What a great find, the food and service ar great. Nice portions, delicious seasoning, semi healthy choices and nice staff. The noodle dishes are delicious and the soups are good.

1st time at Franks Noodle House

By Sara D |

So we showed up minutes after 230 and they close at 3 stop seating at 230. We asked to get takeout and the do allow that. It was my family of 5 me, my husband and our 3 children (11 and under) plus my mom who’s in her 70s. We just saw this place on the Diners, drive-ins, and dives show. They showed how the noodles were made and how to make the chicken noodle dish. I got one plain and two med spice chicken noodles and asked the man what else I needed for 6. He recommended the dumpling appetizer, baby bok choy and Kung pao chicken which I got med spice too. It was very good portions and the noodles really fill you up. Overall, I would say we really liked it. The dumplings and bok choy are super good. I’m not crazy about these thick noodles but it was the first time I’ve had them so maybe they will grow on me. There’s just not much flavor to them since they’re thicker I feel like you need more kick in the sauce. Don’t be afraid to get spicy ....med was not quite enough for us. We preferred the Kung pao noodle dish because it had more flavor. Even the kids loved the Kung pao more. It was $60 for everything and we had almost 2 whole noodle dish portions leftover. It smelled so good we sat and ate in our minivan on parked on the Main Street in front of it. Could not wait to get home. We will definitely be back and want to try some more items on the menu.

Amazing spicy hand made noodles

By Adam L |

It is in a former house and it was busy for the food is delicious and not overpriced I got the hand cut shrimp noodle dish at level 4...great spice. The appetizers ..spring roll was okay..the egg drop soup was very good but small serving

Pretty OK

By Stevey1612 |

We were looking for a place close to the Moda Center for dinner and decided on Frank's Noodle House. This is a kitschy Portland establishment. On older home converted into restaurant. It was busy when we arrived but we were able to be seated right away in an upstairs room. The menu highlights the homemade noodles and we of course had to give that a try. Wait staff was quick and friendly. Food was served in rapid fire succession. Drinks, appetizer, first entrée, second entrée all in the matter for about 2 minutes. Everything was good, but not spectacular. I had higher expectations for this spot, perhaps we lacked the grasp on the menu to make those ultimate selections. We were in and out in less than an hour.

Food was just ok....

By Melsy |

I stayed in a hotel close to Franks so I got take out. The food was quick to be prepared and reasonably priced, but definitely not the best tasting. I would not return again but glad for the experience.

DELICIOUS

By Melissa B |

I though the noodles were AMAZING. The food came very quickly, and the noodles were just so good. This is a must try place.

Homemade Noodles

By CJK1963 |

Outstanding noodles! We had the pork belly and chicken noodle dishes, and chicken fried rice. Great service! The homemade noodles are the signature dishes, for a reason! We loved the restaurant and it is our new favorite!

YUMMMMMMM

By patricha363 |

worth the wait... and you will wait... there is always a line waiting to go in!! friendly staff... very clean and efficient!

Muddled flavors

By OR_Foodie229 |

Watched D-D-D. Read the reviews. Ordered Noodles w/ Chicken (level 2), Kim Chee Fried Rice and Broccoli Beef. I don't get the hype. Was surprised that the flavoring for the noodles and the rice was the same. Other than the texture and slight spice/heat on the noodles, I was disappointed in the flavors. Also the portion size for the Broccoli Beef seemed on the small side. Frank's does not mix with my palette and is not on my recommended list. May have been an off day.

I bet you can't find this at home

By jethro g |

To me travel is all about experiences and Frank's house of noodles is an experience. Is the food the best ever... Maybe not. Is the decor the most amazing... No. Service infallible... Not really. Is the place great... Heck yea! Try something different... Try Frank's.

Best noodles I've ever had

By fwatso |

This place was so authentic it hurts me to know I don't live close enough to go everyday. The noodles were out of this world, period. The hot and sour soup (complimentary with lunch, by the way) was delicious, and the most authentic soup I've ever tasted. It was fast, inexpensive, and the service was great. Can't wait to go back again! A must-go-to in Portland, for sure.

Great Lunch

By Darren Thompson |

We saw this place on Food Network and decided to give it a try...so glad we did! Service was great, pricing was fair and good was excellent. We had dumplings, chicken and hand made noodles, shrimp with hand made noodles and Kung Pao Chicken. All were great! We'll be back soon!

Pretty good

By TravelingDad_PTFC |

Came here for a late lunch with wife & daughter due to Trip Advisor search for best Chinese in Portland. They were pretty busy, but we got a seat right away. Servers were a little stressed & not super friendly, but not rude. They brought out some kimchi & pickled daikon for an appetizer before we ordered & kimchi was tasty, but daikon was a little sweet. Wife had cashew chicken & loved it. Daughter had beef fried rice & thought it was pretty good. I had the pork belly noodle stir fry with spice level 4. Spice ranges from 1-4, 4 being hottest, but still wasn’t very spicy. The pork belly was sliced thin & was very tasty. Loved the texture of the noodles, but they weren’t very flavorful. Very few vegetables & the sauce was surprisingly lacking flavor. I added some soy sauce & chili paste to give it some more flavor. I’ll definitely go back, but will try something else next time.

Legitimate la mian!

By MARYPAT C |

After grazing our way through the Pearl District, we needed some Chinese comfort and la mian is always our first choice. Enjoying a plate or bowl of 'Chinese hand-pulled noodles' is like downing a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy. So satisfying! Frank's version did not disappoint. Thick, chewy, long, fresh noodles with simple vegetables and protein served steaming out, spicy or not.... Life is good. All is right with the universe.

Amazing noodles

By Chelsey |

I don’t have enough good things to say. This place is no frills, really REALLY good noodles. The menu is controlled because they focus on doing one major thing and doing it well. We had two different variations of the noodles and were happily impressed. Big portions, lots of levels of spice to customize and a variety of proteins and veggies you can add. If we’re back in Portland we will come back!

Keepin' it basic makes it great

By RonFritz |

Our group of 7 all had variations of the noodle dishes at various levels of spicy (0-4). All were excellent, from the squid, to chicken to pork. I would definitely recommend Frank's if you're over in the Lloyd Center area.

Disappointed

By pj1945 |

Was told that this was one of the better Asian restaurants in Portland. If so, wow! Dumplings and the short-ribs Korean BBQ were mediocre at best. The pulled noodle soup had no taste. The side order of pulled noodles also had no taste. Disappointed.

Great lunch option while in Portland

By Marion G |

Stopped by here for lunch while on business in Portland. Knew about it from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network. Had the hand-pulled noodles with shrimp, You can choose the spice level (0-4)... I had medium/2. Very tasty choice. Sat outside on front porch on beautiful fall day. Paid parking on the street, FYI.

Great Noodles, but I wasn't crazy about the rest of the food

By jimply |

I thought the Pork Belly noodles were really good. Wasn't impressed with the soup or the dumplings in my experience.

Best handmade Chinese noodles

By Shanelle |

My colleague took me here for lunch while we were on a business trip and it honestly was the highlight of the trip. And as an added bonus, it was a restaurant featured on diners, drive-ins, and dives! Food - Since we came in for lunch on a Thursday, we were able to get seated right away and also order the lunch specials. The lunch specials are the same as the items on regular menu, it’s just a bit cheaper and comes with soup (choice of egg drop or hot and sour). We ordered the handmade noodles with pork, cashew chicken with broccoli, and dumplings to share. The dumplings were underwhelming, as the dough was a bit too thick, but it was still tasty. The cashew chicken didn’t come with broccoli, but it was a good choice to add it because it came still crispy but coated in the thick, brown sauce. The chicken was diced, which is apparently different from the chicken and broccoli which is sliced thinly and has a more subtle flavor (according to the worker). It came with a bowl of white rice, but you can order noodle instead for $4 extra. The handmade noodles are the star of the show, and were incredible. I would go back to this restaurant the next time I’m in Portland. Perfectly chewy and coated in the sauce, they were irresistible. The noodles with pork is the staff favorite, and the pork was sliced thinly with just the right amount of fat to be yummy, but not overly fatty. The noodles with chicken is apparently the most ordered item, and they do offer a vegetarian version and noodles with tofu. The food came out quickly, and Service - the service was quick and efficient, but still pleasant. The staff took the time to answer our questions and made sure to refill our waters promptly. Miscellaneous - we took an Uber there so didn’t note the parking situation. The restaurant is located in a converted house, which gives it a homey vibe. You can tell it’s authentic. Note that they don’t take Amex, and there is a fee for using cards for transactions under $10. There is indoor and outdoor seating, with additional seats located upstairs. Tdlr; highly recommend coming here if you’re in town. The handmade noodles were amazing and the cashew chicken was super tasty. You will walk away with a happy tummy.

Mixed reviews from our party.

By Smokeynav |

While I was not as discerning as were others in our group, I found the noodles to be "hearty" - chewy and not a small noodle...but the food was slightly saltier than I would normally like, and the use of MSG was an issue to some. Probably would not go back as there are so many other places to eat.

worth the drive!!

By bestbaby1 |

We wanted to try this locations after seeing it on a TV show. This place did not disappoint, in fact it was better than expected. The noodle dishes were outstanding and the hot and sour soup ranks in my top 3 ever. We will definitely make sure we will stop here in the future. Just be aware of the opening times. We got there at 230 so they would not seat us so we got take out. I know they open again at 5pm but I swear I saw at least 20 people turn around!!

Fabulous Food from the hands of Frank

By TheToze |

In case you are wondering, yes there is a Frank at Frank's Noodle House. I live near it, but had never gone, until November 2018. I was missing out. I had the garlic noodles and the pork pot stickers. I'm definitely going back.

Franks Noodles in Portand

By Dorla T |

Wonderful Food. Excellent services, and great atmosphere! Frank himself welcomed us. I would go back if ever in Portland again. They have Homemade Noodles made Fresh! Yum! Thank You for the great ending to our Vacation From Billings MontAna.

Yummy

By C B |

Delicious noodle dishes. Three of us had fried noodle dishes, one had noodle soup. We all loved our entree. Green bean side dish also great. I want to go back for fried rice dishes. We had a reservation which was good as I got there 5 minutes before the scheduled opening and the place was almost full! Street parking available. Some beer and wine selections. House chard was excellent.

Awesome Noodle House in Downtown Portland

By Rawestmoreland |

Frank's was amazing! I was in town for a conference and had heard really great things about Frank's so I had to check it out. The service was great and there's patio seating if you want to enjoy a nice afternoon. Noodles came out fast and fresh! The price is great too!

If it was as clean s the food good it would be perfect!

By Wildchinook |

Great food, east to find, busy and a bit crowded. The noodles, dumplings, kimchi and BBQ Quail were all very good. The wait was modest, they were busy and the service very good. The only things I would like to see is less dirt and more clean that would include the servers hair....:(

Delicious and Quick

By Patrick M |

We stopped by for a late lunch and were very impressed by the quality of the food and the quick service. I had a chicken noodle soup with delicious handmade noodles, and my daughter had a chicken curry that was mild but flavorful. The portions were large enough that we had an entire meal for the next day. Highly recommended!!

Frank Tanked....

By Voyagerinpdx |

So - we moved to this neighborhood about 8 months ago and finally stopped for lunch. Seemingly a perennial fav we were excited to get our slurp on. Sadly we were quite disappointed. Service was fine - it fact perhaps a bit too rushed. Lunch comes with a cup of either Hot & Sour or Egg Drop soup. We were barely seated when the soup arrived - we both opted for the H&S. Meh. Seemed like they went a bit heavy on the cornstarch as it had that weird almost gelatinous feel tho spice level was nice. On to the hand pulled noodles (beef for me, shrimp for the hubster). The noodles themselves were absolutely traditional hand pulled - chewy with good texture. But there was absolutely no taste to them. I ordered spice level 3, hubby 4 (highest level). Hardly felt any heat so all you really ended up with was heat-hot noodles and an oily slightly spiced one note dish. They provide a complimentary small side of daikon and kimchi - the kimchi was oddly sweet, almost like catsup. So bottom line, Frank tanked for us.

Walking trip

By Berries1 |

We walked over from our hotel since I saw this place on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. The restaurant was decent as was the food, I thought the thing that shined the best was the service. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was good, obviously the noodles were delicious but sauce was not on the same level so it was overall ok.

Great Food, Service, and Atmosphere....

By Mark W |

While in Portland, Oregon recently we were watching DD&D's and saw Guy visiting Frank's Noodle House, and it was only a few blocks away. We visited and we were not disappointed. The service and food were great.

This is the restaurant we want to go back to!

By SludgeD |

My wife and I arrived in Portland too early to check in to our AirBnB, so we were wandering the area, towing our luggage along. It was a beautiful day and Frank's had outdoor seating, so we stopped at one of their tables and ordered some dumplings and some of their amazing hand-pulled noodles with pork belly. The food was amazing. The dumplings were very good, but the noodles were beyond. Of all the places we ate in town, this is the one my wife wants to return to Portland to visit again. The service was wonderful. It was a very nice day to sit out front, watch the traffic go by and have a delicious lunch.

Not what I expected

By Lisalangel |

My friend saw this place on diners drive ins and dives so we tried this place out. Loved the radishes they served but the noodle dish I had seemed not cooked all the way & lacked flavor

A nice quaint place for dining!

By Twee Wong |

This is a nice place for a cute first date. However, I don't think the noodles are that great. I am Asian so I do know my noodles. One person's palate doesn't make up for everyone else's. You have to try yourself to be the judge. I saw the great reviews, but unfortunately I don't find the same point of view that it's the best noodles out there. I just don't like the doughy and very oily taste of it. If you're Italian and have eaten spaghetti all your life, you might enjoy this. It tastes like spaghetti to me. The service is excellent and the restaurant is very nice and clean. Overall, I give a 3-star just because I enjoy the experience, not necessary the foods. Sorry!

Ok Noodles

By JustinWoj |

We both ordered their famous noodles one chicken and the other vegetarian. After all the great reviews were expecting a little bit better from Frank's. The noodles were filling but not as much flavor as i was expecting as well.

Hand-Pulled Noodle Heaven

By Melanie J |

Our first stop for lunch in Portland was at Frank's Noodle House. We'd seen on a Food Network show how he prepares the fresh LaMian daily but once we tasted them we were even more amazed at the noodles' delicate texture and wonderful flavor. Everything about our lunch was perfect, from the pickled daikon and spicy cabbage Kimchi, to the Sweet & Sour soup, to the noodle plates which we ordered with tender squid and crispy pork belly. At the next table, they had dumplings which smelled delicious too. We happily recommend Frank's Noodle House!

Lunch special is awesome value!

By H00sierFan |

We had heard great reviews, & Frank's lived up to the hype! The noodle lunch plates for $7.25 are wonderful! You get a small soup, kimchee & turnips too. The level 4 spice wasn't overpowering. The veggies added a nice fresh touch to amazing noodles. Don't miss this gem! We sat outside on the porch with our baby & enjoyed a delicious meal.

Very tasty homemade noodles!

By LeAnne L |

Three of us arrived for dinner at 5:30 on a Saturday night, it was busy, but we were seated immediately. The service was friendly, the food was very good. One had vegetarian noodles, one had tofu, and I had chicken. We were all very happy and only my son managed to finish his dinner!

Great handmade noodles.

By John Sowell |

There are only a handful of Asian restaurants in Portland where they use noodles made by hand. Frank's Noodle House on Broadway makes the best in town. Owner Frank Fong's noodles are typical of those found in Hong Kong and in Guangzhou in southern China. There is an abundance of noodles and smaller servings of meat and vegetables. The biggest complaint among Asians who move to the United States is that sauces in American-Chinese dishes overwhelm the dish and become the flavor of it. Some reviews of Frank's complain about that but I'm glad he remains true to his roots. The noodles were less uniform than ones I've had in Hong Kong but I like them in showing they're made by hand and didn't come from a factory.

The real noodle deal!

By Michael L |

Great noodles. We were in Portland just for the one night and wanted something different for dinner so we chose Frank;s based on the reviews. We had the stir fried noodles with pork belly and the soup noodles with shrimp. We also ordered the green beans as well. The noodles in both dishes were light with just enough "chew" to them without being tough. The sauce and tender pork belly combined with the noodles made for a very satisfying meal. The soup broth was very flavorful with baby bok choy, sliced carrots and shrimp.I ordered the dish at level 4 spicy. I did not find it to be too spicy but I know everyone's tastes vary. The stirfry green beans had a savory brown sauce with onions and mushrooms. I could make a meal of these alone. The place is very basic as far a decor goes. Our view out the window was a cinder brick wall, but who cares when the food is this good. If you are not familiar with good Chinese noodles then Frank's Noodle House is a good starting point.

Great food

We have fallen in love with their homemade noodles and dumplings yummy. My husband loved it and said that it was just like what he had while in Lanzhou China.

Fun lunch stop

By PAboyinFL |

We saw Frank’s on Triple D, and hand pulled noodles seemed unique. So when we visited Portland, we made it a point to give them a try. We went for lunch. They offer a lunch special for $8.95. You get noodles and your choice of meat. They give you pickled daikon radish (which really helps cut heat after eating) and Kim chi along with a small bowl of hot and sour soup or a soup similar to egg drop. My wife got the chicken and I got pork belly. Both were good, and you can pick the level of spice that you want. I had two stars of heat and it was just enough to let you know it was there without hurting. The waiter was great, service was quick, and the total bill was less than $20 and we left full. You have your choice of eating inside or outside. We ate outside since it was a comfortable summer day. If we lived in Portland, we would definitely make Frank’s a regular part of our dining out options.

Thick noodles. That’s it.

By Charlie S |

Free soup with shrimp fried noodles. Taste is clean. I can not taste MSG. I may expect too much. Just average.

Best noodles in my life!

By smatjapan |

a small, local place with the best noodles ever! saw on tv's DDD and it exceeded 'flavortown' points!!! super economical. go for the noodles with pork. you will not be disappointed!

Frank’s has ruined Chinese food for me....

By Eric D |

I’ve been traveling for 12yrs and this has been by far, the absolute best Chinese restaurant Ever! The hand pulled noodles are to die for. Dumplings were the perfect consistency. Food wasn’t rushed even though we showed up 45min before closing. Frank himself cashed us out... oh and come to find out Frank’s was on Diners, Drive-In’s, and Dives

You gotta like noodles!

By Airbus_CFI |

I saw the article on "Triple D" and decided I had to give this place a try. Good, yes it is! The service was fast and the food was excellent. The vegetables were not over cooked and the chicken was seasoned just right. The noodles are hand crafted with care and soak up the juices from the vegetables and chicken. I will go back!

Great Handmade Noodles

By Walksy22 |

Stopped off at Frank's Noodle House on a recent trip to Portland and was not disappointed. It's a great little spot and certainly no frills, just solid, good food. I ordered the Handmade Dumplings as an Appetizer and the Stir-fried Handmade Noodles with Chicken Breast as an entree. Both were excellent and would highly recommend them - fresh, hand made and tasty. Wash them down with a Tsing Tao Beer and life is good.

Awesome cashew chicken

By Finny B |

LOVE the cashew chicken here. Best I ever had. Homey feeling which I've never experienced in a Chinese restaurant. Great service.

Early Happy Father's Day Celebration

By Rose C |

Since we are going to be outta town, my daughter took us here for an early celebration. Here, they have hand-made noodles, traditionally, in Chinese style. We've ordered dumplings, won ton soup, BBQ Beef, Noodles stir-fried with chicken, spring rolls, egg fried rice, and 2 other dishes which I cannot remember now. I have to say, they are delicious, but to some - it is taste to be acquired. Overall, food and services are good. Decor, not so much, because the restaurant is an old house in downtown portland converted into a dining facility. It is intriguing and interesting setting. If you are in for trying new food, come to Frank's Noodles House.

Great Noodle choices

By richardfsjr |

Great place to get a wide selection of noodle dishes and they do have vegan and gluten free options available.

Hand-pulled noodles are the big draw

By m3Chicago |

The restaurant was recommended for its special homemade noodles and was close to our inn. Even on a week night, the restaurant was busy. The stir fried noodle dish with beef and vegetables was generous, accompanied by refreshing kimchi and radish side dishes. But we thought the fried spring rolls were disappointing because they were filled with cabbage and no shrimp or meat. The service was quick and friendly, and we were fortunate to have Frank the owner wait on us.

Beef noodles

By Duaa A |

I ordered the hand pulled noodles with beef and OMG 😍😍 it’s definitely a must try if you’re looking for delicious, cheap restaurant

Good

By cecmdim695 |

You can always tell a good restaurant or a good meal everybody’s quiet and eating. Hardly annoys was spoken as they all sucked down their noodles. Worth the trip

Yum!

By janikahillhouse |

The pepper salted squid is so good!! It is definitely the best I have ever had. I also love the old charm of the house. Cute place.

Great service and delicious noodles. I got the pork belly noodles and I would highly recommend it to others. Lunch special was a good price and came with soup.

Out of this world amazing!!!!

Everything was fresh and fast! Everything tasted perfect! Spring rolls were crispy snd the noodles were like nothing I had ever tasted! I would eat here a million times if I lived close!

It was OK

By atherts |

Lots of noodle options. Nothing really struck us as outstanding. The noodles were very thick and a bit doughy. Overall the food was a bit stodgy and heavy. Service was prompt and while crowded, we were seated fairly quickly.

Great experience

By Jane W |

Came here on a Friday night, expecting to have a long wait. Instead we ended up only waiting 20 minutes before being seated upstairs. Everyone in the party had something different so we all got to try alot of different dishes. My daughter who doesn't usually eat Asian food LOVED the chicken fried rice, there is so much of it, much have been close to a pound of rice on the plate. the rest of us opted for the homemade noodles which were as delicious as shown on TV!!! Word of warning - as a family we like spicy food and had the 3rd option for spiciness. 3 definitely has a kick to it so you have been warned!

unique and interesting

By rhonda60103 |

Frank's is interesting - the first noodle house I've been to. We ordered the dumplings, which weren't my favorite, and spicy noodles which were great. The service was quick and professional, in spite of sitting in someone's house! It was cute, and on a rainy cool day, the food was satisfying. Good value also.

House Made Noodles to Die for

By LeeFuhrman |

Frank's Home-Made Noodles are incredible! Great portions, wonderful service and awesome eats....what more can you ask for. This place comes through in a big way. Not far off the beaten path and worth the trip!

Noodles are great

By valpasnau |

Fresh homemade noodles are the best! I had the soup with chicken. Only thing I would change is to substitute some of the bok choy for celery or onion. Service was good. Price was right. Next time - and there will be a next time for sure- I will order something different. Everything I saw on the tables around me looked delicious.

Go here!

By Emily M |

The spicy noodles were incredible with the perfect balance of tender and chewy. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. This is the real deal.

😍😍

By Porgqueen5656 |

This food is so good and will last u for days. There noodles 🍝 are homemade and the waiters are so friendly. After a long day get franks noodle 🍲 house 🏡

Fast service, great noodles!

By bigrockr |

Had pork belly and shrimp noodles along with cashew chicken. Ordered another dish later that wasn't as tasty but thought we ordered black bean sauce and it was actually black pea sauce! The service is the fastest I have ever seen and if I am ever back, it will be another Noodle dish - went here because noticed it on tv on DDD!!

Saturday evening Dinner

By Richard S |

My wife and I went to Frank's this evening at about 5 pm and got right in and were served promptly. I ordered the chicken noodle stir fry. and my wife had the chicken noodle soup.I also ordered the dumplings. I enjoyed the dumplings, my wife said she did not care for them but I noted that she ate about half of them. I enjoyed my noodle dish and thought it was very good. My wife's soup was very good and a generos portion. We both ate some ov it and brought a fair amount home. We live west of Portland and do not go down town very often. I would not make a special trip to go th Frank's, but it was ok.

Great Food, Good service and good prices

By Captainron14 |

Excellent food! Noodles are made on site and portions are great! We have gone back and quality has not changed.

Unique experience

By P. Romeo |

Nice atmosphere, food was very good and fresh. Parking can be a little difficult and must pay to park. Cost was a bit high (for us, mayby others wouldnt think so), over $120 for 4 people. We are visiting Portland so not used to the higher prices, parking issues etc so my opinion may not be relevant to city dwellers.

Great noodles

By David T |

Visiting family in the neighborhood. I had seen this place on TV and wanted to try it. The noodles were fantastic! My wife who is the pickiest eater I know had seconds. We had several noodle dishes and all were good but the squid was a little fishy. The hot & sour soup was average but that is not why you go there, but as an addict for it I order it every new place I go. Looking forward to our next visit to see my family and have some more of Frank's noodles

Overblown, underwhelming

By Marshall L |

This cute building houses a restaurant that gained greater notoriety following a visit from Guy Fieri, host of the series Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. While the food served is considered Chinese, the dishes served us fell far short of those flavors many consider Asian and Chinese in particular. The black bean sauced noodle dish with sliced cucumbers appeared promptly. The sauce did not have any taste of black beans at all. It appeared to consist only of corn starch and soy sauce blended into a dark gooey gravy, heavy in appearance and unappetizing. The first dish to appear was the dumplings, ten in number, accompanied by a dipping sauce, arriving very soon after the order was placed. This should have served as a forewarning of things to come. All the dishes arrived so quickly that it seemed much was prepackaged in an assembly line fashion. This eatery may be a fan favorite but it clearly caters to those individuals who enjoys dishes fashioned to suit the palates of those who enjoy milder flavors. Once was enough to satisfy our curiosity certainly not our taste buds. Will not return.

Awesomeness

By Texzilla58 |

It's so hard to find great Chinese food these days in many parts of the country. In DFW most Chinese places have fallen to ginormous buffets or cheap fry joints selling 13 versions of general Tso. Basically fried something with a thick sweet sauce. I try to get to Frank's when I'm in Portland. He has other dishes but I can't get past the handmade hand spun noodles. I have had the pork belly, the chicken, and the shrimp. All are incredible. I've had the herbal beef appetizer and it's great. Carry on Frank. You're doing it right.

A don't miss when in Portland.

By Angela R |

We stopped by for lunch, the place was busy but not overly packed. Frank himself took us,to our seat. We got the hand pulled noodles with chicken and sweet & sour soup instead of egg drop soup. It was wonderful, not too spicy to not be enjoyable.

Line out the door

By Andrew T |

We came here with a large group close to 30. We got it to go and went to a park to eat. The service was slower but that was understandable with our group size. The food was good and portion sizes were decent. The restaurant is in an old house which gives it a lot of character.

Fast and pretty good

By HLW648 |

This is both Korean and Chinese and the food is decent. My group did not want highly spiced dishes so I think my opinion is a little low because of that. We had a noodle dish and the noodles were great but bland. General Tso was very good. We also ordered dumplings, string beans, and another chicken dish...all pretty good. I would have enjoyed it with more spice but that is not the restaurant's fault. The service was fast but aloof.

Good value

By LEHankins |

Quick service, lightning fast food delivery. You choose your level of spice and I appreciate that! Quaint dining room with outdoor porch seating available. Homemade noodles were delicious. Orders are large enough to share. Two of us could not finish our order. Price is very good!

Delicious

By wanderlusttra |

Saw this restaurant on triple D and it was spot on. The noodles are fantastic! The place is small so expect a wait, but it is worth it.

Worth the travel and money!

By Rhema2000 |

We have seen this restaurant as one of America's top restaurants. This is absolutely true! The food was so delicious that my husband and I did not mind traveling a couple of hours from home just to visit this place.

Weird and disappointing

By Monica M |

Based on TA reviews and DDD status thought this place would be good. Soggy bland dumplings, terrible service, noodles were dry and also without character. Never going back. I thought at least it would be adequate. Not even.

Oodles of Noodles

By Melinda M |

The noodles were delicious and enjoying them in this quirky house/restaurant was a treat! Come early because the place fills up quickly... I wasn't a huge fan of the homemade dumplings, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. My waitress wasn't the friendliest of people, but everyone has a bad day, I suppose. I'd still come again if I returned to Portland!

Yummy Spot

By Tara P |

We really enjoyed this place. We didn't make a reservation but came for early dinner and were able to get a seat quickly with parking right out front. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. The food came out quickly and was hot. We had a shrimp noodle dish and another Kung Pao chicken which were both yummy. And the portion sizes were rather large (with a good price), so we took some of it to go. The place had a very low key and local feel which we liked. We would definitely return.

General Tso with noodles

By McFerrid |

Great noodles! Generals chicken had good sauce but I don’t think it was the best chicken. Heavy on the breading. I might describe the restaurant as more Korean than Chinese although both are offered. Strange to see tennis balls under all the chair legs! Probably protecting a new floor. Kim chi on the menu.

Great Noodles

By Gregory H |

Had the stir fry shrimp noodle. Very good. Hot rating served 0 to 4. Ordered 4 and it was just right, not extremely hot but great flavor. Would eat here again.

The most overrated

By humboldtraveler |

What a big disappointment. Don't go after eight. they close at nine, and if you are still eating, to bad. The noodles were below average and the rest of the food was cold. Be sure to bring your own wine, other wise it is a major production. There have got to be better places to eat in Portland. I travel a lot in Asia and this was the worst food of anywhere. Oh and the service was so poor.

Why all the fuss?

By Momoftwo06 |

I ate dinner here recently and couldn't figure out where the rave reviews were coming from. My stir fried noodles with tofu were very heavy on the noodles and light on tofu and veggies. The noodles themselves were very thick and dense, not to my taste. Everyone else in my party (we were all first timers) had a similar experience. The atmosphere is bare bones (metal chairs with tennis balls over the feet to keep them from scratching the floor). I will say that the wait staff were attentive and friendly, but that won't be enough to bring us back.

Favorite Meal in Portland

By Nicole P |

When traveling for business, I came across Frank's Noodle House. I loved this place. Yummy food and great prices. The location was convenient to the Convention Center. The space was quaint (in an old house).

Tasty noodles!

By DeborahandAndy |

Great for a fast lunch of handmade noodles- different choices with cabbage, pepper and onions, tofu with noodles, chicken and noodles, beef and noodles. Choose level of spiciness- we had hot which was just right. Very reasonable prices at lunch - $9-$10. Complimentary egg drop or hot and sour soup, kim chee, and cubes of daikon.

Hand pull noodles

By anatraveller |

Noodles dumplings were very good, we went for lunch and got a complementary cup of hot and sour soup which was good. Spring roll could be better. Good service, great value/price ratio, place was clean and cozy.

Noodles are the BOMB! Handmade what else do I need to say?

By Byte314 |

Hands down the best noodles I had in a long time. I had the chicken stir fry noodle and homemade dumplings for appetizer. The price is very reasonable as well. Talked to someone who had beef and they wished they would’ve ordered the chicken instead. Need wasn’t tender, a little tough, but still good. I had no spice in mine. The spice level can be adjusted to your liking. I will be back to try some of the other food, it looked all so yummy and tasty.

Great Hand Made Noodles

By Westsail374 |

Frank's is a great place for those seeking innovative Chinese (with Korean touches) that is true to its roots. The proprietors create their signature noodles by hand daily. The lunch meal starts with complimentary kimchi and pickled radishes. The noodle dishes are awesome. Another favorite is the pork with cabbage. Nice and spicy 🌶!

Handmade Noodles Here a Favorite

By Jeff F |

Like many places in Portland, the atmosphere is of a neighborhood rerstaurant while the food is top-notch. If like me you enjoy the texture of a handmade noodle, this is your place. everything I've tried on the menu has been very good, but I always gravitate back to the noodle dishes.

High Expectations weren't met

By luv2trvl1426 |

Unfortunately, we didn't love the service or the noodles at Frank's. We were really looking forward to our meal here but it was not what we had hoped. The noodles didn't have good flavor, our dishes were a bit bland. I'm glad so many other people enjoy it but for us this was just okay and we wouldn't return.

Still Seeking Good Chinese in Portland

By Jeremy S |

No question about it these are good noodles and a unique offering for PDX. They're sturdy, chewy strands that do more than just take up room on a plate, but they were also oily and, in one of our two dishes, gummy. Worth a try if you're looking for something you won't find in other Asian eateries but doesn't live up to some of the raves. Beware the level of sodium in the Kung Pao and ask for extra-extra spicy if you're seeking heat.

Great food!

By Jennifer C |

I went to Frank's Noodle House after seeing it on Triple D! It was not a disappointment, noodles were great.

Great Noodles!

By 838donc |

Great noodles and good selection of food. Everything was fresh and fast to the table. I like this place!

Best Noodles I've Had!

By PDXWOM |

This place was fantastic! I have heard about it a lot and decided I had to try it when I came to Portland. The service was great and Frank himself was there greeting people. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic Hand Made Noodles

By Steve Ski |

Frank's Noodle House was awesome. The noodles are made daily and the broth and other ingredients used made this noodle bowl one of the best. If you're in Portland go say hi to Frank and try his noodle soup!

Great food

By John L |

The hand made noodle dishes are outstanding. Went for the first time mid-February and the food and service was great. Had the beef noodles and it was flavored perfectly.

Retro Gaming Convention

By Irma J |

The noodles we're so fantastic, the thickness and texture was just right, the sauce was a gift from above, the sides, I can't even begin where to start! They we're savory and apetizing. Overall, good service and magnificent food!

Hand-stretched noodles - the best you've ever eaten!

By Lake Arrowhead Lady |

This place cannot be missed during your visit to Portland! We were there for six days and ate at Frank's twice! Had to have more of his noodles! Delicious flavor, chewy texture, and you can choose your spiciness level! Loved that! Also yummy egg flower or hot & sour soup is included in the low price!

Not as good as people made seem

By shohler |

I normally dont like to write bad things but I thought people should know. The food is not what its raved to be. Not sure if it was an off day for the cooks, we had multiple appetizers and then noodle lunch with beef and nothing was very good for anyone at our table. The service was even worse..we had to wait outside for our table in the cold, the server was on the tablet in the side room, as well the servers while serving us were having a discussion about music. Definitely none of which I heard about from others, thoroughly not impressed.

Pre-Michelle Obama dinner

By Erin C |

Everyone loved what they ordered. It was good, efficient service on a very busy evening. My SIL is a spicy food afficionado and enjoyed the spicy level 3. I am not into spice and found level 1 perfect. Food was flavorful.

Overhyped average place.

By renfield1969 |

I was disappointed by my meal at Frank's Noodle House. It's pretty quaint, make no mistake. It was a nice day so we opted to eat outside on the porch. The tables are pretty small and the seating was pretty cramped. The busboy had to do some awkward reaching to set the table and fill water glasses, and when the food runner came there was almost no room to set the serving plates down. The dumplings we ordered were okay, I suppose I've never had an amazing dumpling. The noodles I found to be chewy and doughy, particularly the thick ones. The Korean Barbecue lacked any char. This food isn't bad, but it's not particularly good, either. Our server did not take drink orders, so when we ordered our food I requested a glass of white wine, and that was the last we saw of him until the end of the meal. When the hostess dropped off our check I asked for it to be adjusted since the wine never arrived. The check was removed, and a few minutes later our server appeared with my warm and sweating glass of white wine. After a long while the check was returned, with the wine still on it. If I realized they were still going to charge me for it instead of doing the classy thing, I would have demanded a fresh glass. This appears to be a family business, but I think the family members spend most of their time stepping over each other with none of them being particularly experienced in the restaurant industry. Their TV show appearance probably gave them more business than they can comfortably handle.

TASTY FOOD

By alohajuniors |

I was craving for won ton soup and found Frank's Noodle House close to the Lloyd Center. The soup base was very tasty but the won tons were smaller than what I'm used to in Hawaii. The hot sour soup, pickled turnip, and kim chee were also very tasty. I noticed another customer order Kung Pao Chicken and a bowl of rice. Boy, did that smell good. I'll definitely come back again!

Oh so delicious!!!

By MIRIAM J |

Great service and so delicious! My husband and I had lunch at Frank's Noodle House while visiting Portland on a work/vacation trip. My husband had the hand-pulled noodles with chicken and I had the hand-pulled noodles with pork. I like spice so I ordered mine spicy and wow it was delicious. Just enough heat and lots of flavor. My husband shared his noodles with our 21 month old daughter and she loved them. I think she might have eaten more noodles than my husband did. We will be visiting again when we come back to Portland.

Great noodles not so great service

By Beckie38242 |

We were visiting family in Portland and decided to go to Frank's because of the connection with Diners, drive inns and dives. Walked in and could see cook making the noodles which was kind of cool. Then we were seated over a floor air vent and was freezing. After about 10 minutes a guy came to table next to us (which no one had came to our table yet) and I said sir and he looked at me and pointed his finger and said just wait a minute rudely. We then requested to be moved and he did but could tell it ticked him off. Got a different guy for our food order and he explained the spicy level which 1 is very warm. We had the stir fried pork belly and a stir fried chicken. Both very good. Large quantiles of noodles but very small serving of kimchi and pickled radish for 3 people. Same amount they would give 1 person. Been there done that. Lots of other choices in Portland

Strange taste

By mariawk2109 |

Service was friendly and attentive. But the food… The orange chicken was drowned in a sauce that consisted of orange concentrate or whatever that might have been. It was heavily perfumed and I was unable to eat it. The cashew chicken had the same problem. A perfumed, somewhat chemical overdose of what could have been teriyaki. The kids did a better choice with fried rice with chicken resp. Stir-fried noodles with chicken. That was just a little bland, but edible. And don’t go for the Chai with cream. Somehow the taste matched that of the other meals: very strange, but unfortunately not very tasty at all.

Small but mighty

By dstambaugh3 |

Frank's Noodle house is just that - a converted house. Not expansive but you're not sitting on top of other patrons. The staff is very efficient, friendly and attentive. I had the noodles which I thoroughly enjoyed. The heat level is rated as 1 through 4. I would definitely return.

An interesting and enjoyable experience

By Terry W |

One of the best parts of eating at Frank's Noodle House is getting to meet Frank himself. A very genuine man who has worked hard to establish this noodle house. Noodles made on site? Of course and quirky places to sit and eat? Again of course - it is in an old house! If you love noodles this should be a stop - you will not be disappointed.

Fresh Noodles for you!

By jackwidely |

In an old house on busy broadway in NE portland, you may not know what to expect... but the name says it all-- Noodles. House. Yeah, there are dishes without noodle, but really have the dishes with noodles. they are freshly made, hot and slurp-able. We had them with beef and squid and both were great with veggies. you get order them mild up to very very spice hot. we went midway and should have gone one more level up. maybe. we were there for lunch and for $8 to $9 bucks you get a great portion with soup. gets really crowded, so plan for that. there are rooms upstairs and downstair in the 'house'.

Great Quality - Yummy - Not expensive

By Christoph L |

Not sure what took us so long. After 5 years in Portland we finally made it to Frank's. Wish we would have done that earlier. Homemade noodles - WOW. We loved the "Portlandia" ambience , friendliness, quality and quantity. A MUST-CHECK-OUT.

Great noodles - not so great sauce

By OnewaytotheFather |

I loved the noodles and appreciated the fact that they are hand made. However, I wasn't very pleased with the sauce that came with my black bean or the noodles soup which my sister got. I thought both dishes needed something extra.

Delicious!

By TONY S |

We got the hit and sour soup and the kung Pao chicken, they both we absolutely phenomenal! I haven't been able to stop talking about that hot and sour soup, delicious!

Good noodles

By Chartreuse |

We came for lunch and the 2 dishes I'd recommend are the pork hand pulled noodle and General Tso chicken. The beef noodle was good too but the pork was better. If we were to go back, I'd only order the noodle dishes which is what they are known for. Didn't like the dumpling soup and the steamed dumpling appetizer was good but not anything special. Staff at lunch were attentive but that is the best time to go. At dinner, they are too busy and will turn away customers even if they don't close for another 45 mins. Which is what happened to us, therefore the lower rating.

Fresh hand made noodles!

By nitroused |

Went here on TripAdvisor recommendation, and they were right. Seated quickly at lunch, spicy hand made noodles were al dente, great flavor. Service was fast and attentive, owner was greeting patrons. Must recommend this as a better value at lunch, as dinner is a similar menu at higher prices. Will stop by on my next Portland visit.

Large portions and great hand made noodles!

By JosephWatson |

I visited this place for the first time for a business lunch meeting and I was shocked at the taste of the food as well as the large portions of the plates. I work around the corner from Frank's Noodle House and probably drive by the place every other day but never visited the place. I had the beef and broccoli with the hand made noodles and it was amazing! I definitely recommend this place and looking forward to bringing my Wife.

Great authentic asian cuisine.

By Proffezorx |

They do such an incredible job, combing unique menu options from all parts of Asia. From one who lived in china, I can say that they're an incredible job bringing those flavors over to the west

I WANTED to love it!

By Devon B |

I really wanted to love the chicken noodle stir fry, but it just wasn't my jam. The noodles were to gummy for my taste. I did taste my friends Kung Pao Chicken, and it was really good.

Hand made noodles are so delicious!

By Shlee230 |

The hand made noodles are so different from what you buy from supermarket, the texture is more superb. The restaurant has a noodle lady onsite to make fresh noodles. The menu looks wonderful, we had beef stir fry noodles and the shrimp stir fry noodles with little spicy, and both were very good.

Love this place!

By aces936 |

Frank's has the best homemade noddles in town!! After them you don't dare going anywhere else for great Asian cuisine!!

A popular local restaurant near the Moda Center

By Eve Kahn |

After sightseeing in and around Portland, we decided to try something close to our hotel. Frank's noodle house was the perfect spot. Located in a converted house, Frank's menu is both traditional Chinese and Korean food. Thankfully they allow you to choose your spicy levels (from 0-4).

Local’s favorite

By modernlizbennet |

We were the only out-of-towners in the room. Good sign. The noodles are the star of the show. Doesn’t matter what you pair with them. The dumpling soup is also outstanding.

Overrated

By Avebury S |

Noisy, cramped eating area, lackluster service. Food was one note and sauce tasted like it was watered down.

Worth a visit!

By LoveMyBigPoodle |

The homemade noodles and dumplings are great, the atmosphere is nice, and Frank is a delight. It's not fancy banquet food, but the quality is high. Lunch specials are well priced, and overall prices are fair. Check it out.

Fantastic

By kben12771 |

We were recommended by our guide at Oregon Tours to eat at Frank's Noodle House. We were seated upstairs in what used to be a bedroom! The food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Best meal we had in Portland. It's a must go to place!

Delicious!

By Traveler ACJ |

Stopped by for a quick dinner after arriving in Portland for a conference. I went based on a local recommendation, not realizing that this restaurant is so well known and loved until after I had tasted my first bite of their incredible hand-pulled noodles. Chewy and delicious! It lives up to its reputation. The pickled daikon radish and spicy kimchi were wonderful sides. Comfortable, warm, relaxed atmosphere. A gem!

Unfortunately limited choices for vegans

By kupunakane |

As the name of the restaurant suggests, this place is famous for its noodles. My wife had a noodle dish and said it was delicious. As I follow a vegan diet, my choice was limited to a couple of vegetable dishes. The one I had was ok but nothing special. It was worth it to me to come here so that my wife could enjoy the noodles, but unless you are in a similar situation, I would not recommend Frank's for a vegan or anyone else who cannot eat noodles.

if you like real homeade noodles

By Brad W |

this is the place -- just like you have seen of DDD -- this is where you can find hand pulled noodles and great stir fry We love this place -- and if you go to the Broadway location you can see the real Frank!

Hand pulled noodles in house

By L R K |

This place I found by chance. I Googled a near by place to eat from the Double Tree Hotel and this place was amazing. The restaurant is in a actual house and I absolutely loved that. I sat outside for lunch because it was a nice day out. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the pork belly stir fried noodles with level 4 spicy. That is their hottest level of spicy but it wasn’t burning where you can’t enjoy your food. It’s a huge portion so I did take the rest to-go. Also came with hot and sour soup as a lunch special. The soup was one of the best I’ve had. Overall the great place to eat for authentic Chinese hand pulled noodles made right in front of you. The owner was extremely nice as well.

SOOOO GOOD!

By fromAtl |

Outside of NYC's Chinatown, Frank's Noodle House has the best food I have ever had. Our group shared spring rolls, egg fried rice, shrimp noodles, and General Tao chicken. Everything was DELICIOUS. The food was so flavorful, and the prices were so reasonable. I wish we lived close enough to enjoy Frank's regularly!!!

Amazing long never ending noodles

By christy |

Service was good. I had chicken noodle soup. The noodles were great. Reminded me of egg flower noodles my grandma used to make. If your unsure of spice level go with mild.

Hand pulled noodles

By NW_Gourmet |

Although the reviews have been mixed, I found the hand pulled noodles to be excellent. They were able to create a low sodium version without hesitation. The Szechuan style green beans were outstanding. we'll be returning/

OK...but not Triple D

By Keith S |

All noodles, no chicken, no veggies. 90% glueten...10% missing. Save your time and dollars...look elsewhere. Also...Frank upset that we were going to use credit card...thus, used cash.

best noodles eva!

By Amy H |

had the noodles and chicken with no spice and I was amazed how great it tasted. service was awesome. very great little place to eat and relax.

Signature sauce bitter

By Paul K |

Easy parking, clean, hand-pulled noodles, excellent friendly service. Dumpling appetizer very good filling and dipping sauce We both had signature noodle dish, one with shrimp, the other chicken. Not a lot of shrimp. Their spicy scale is toned down so i added chili paste. The noodles were chewy good. Both of us found the signature sauce in the stirfry was VERY bitter to both of us. We ate it, but didn’t really like it at all. That is why the 3* rating. I wouldn’t eat there again.

Best noodles

By ACaban |

Upon entering, it's fun to be greeted with photos from the restaurant's premiere on Diners, Drive in's and Dives. A busy place on a Thursday night, the drinks, appetizers and entrees were still all promptly delivered. The noodles are hardy and delicious; a must.

Service great! Food so-so

By Shannon M |

Sauce thick & salty. Beans undercooked. Noodles would be best in a broth, too doughy as a side. Timing on ingredients just seemed off. Service was excellent though. And the flavors hinted at getting it right. Maybe I was there and had a new cook?

Noodlerama

By FlyGuy12 |

On a recent quick visit to Portland, I was looking for something that was quick, filling and good. So, as per the recommendation of the front desk at my hotel, I strolled a few blocks over to Frank's Noodle House. Upon arriving, I had a feeling I had seen this place before.......yep, on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Frank's is about 2 miles across the river from downtown. It's a small former house, with outdoor seating on a deck and limited tables inside. Having never been, I asked the waitstaff for some recommendations as to what to eat to both fill my curiosity craving as well as my not-eaten-all-day craving. Recommendation: Anything with or over noodles since they are the specialty of the house. I had seen another diner munching on pot stickers so I decided to start with them as an app and then follow them up with pork and cabbage over noodles. Being solo, I elected for takeout to enjoy my meal over a baseball game in my room. When I opened my pot stickers, they were almost never-ending. I was expecting 4 to 6 and was pleasantly surprised at 10 to 12. Following my generous and delicious appetizer, I opened my pork and cabbage over noodles. It was in what appeared to be a narrow container appropriate for takeout. As I started munching, the pork and cabbage seemed never-ending and then as I got to the noodles, what a delightful surprise. Homemade goodness in mile long twisted noodles. Yum!!!! I look forward to my next Portland visit so I can make my way thru Frank's menu. FYI: My appetizer and noodles dishes came to $22.

Excellent as a combination of value and flavor

By ski&brew |

Must the food 5 star? probably not, the value was so I will give it 5 stars because it was a satisfying lunch that tasted great and did not cost that much. Get the noodle bowls. Small place without atmosphere but you are here for the noodle dishes. I would think these meals work OK for take out.

Yum!

By OldVagabond |

Watched their review on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and decided really should try it. It was excellent. The cashew chicken was the best I have had any place in my extensive travels around the globe!

Amazing!

By Suzie W |

My first visit and I was blown away! Fresh handmade noodle every day with the most delicious sauces, chicken is tender and veggies local and crispy. You would rive right by this little house. Take the time to find it and go!

All noodle!

By weloveRtrips |

As so many others, knew about Frank's from DDD. Were seated upstairs which was chilly. Go figure--downstairs was pleasant! Ordered noodles and chicken, noodles and shrimp, ribs, and chicken fried rice. The noodles were good (and large) but not much of the chicken or shrimp. We came home and watched the DDD episode; our very menu item looked better on the tube. Fried rice was better than the noodles, we felt.

Always good homemade noodles

By Dawn F |

I love the homemade noodles. You get small dishes of Kim chee and pickled daikon radish. You can get your noodles stir fried or in soup. Limited seating but the food comes out quickly

Franks has an efficient staff, a good sized portion list, and a broad variety of asian food choices. The staff keep and eye on the eaters to make sure their needs are met, and the kitchen keeps it up at a feverish pace. While sitting for dinner we watched at least 20 people pick up take-out prepared in a kitchen that looks to have replaced a coat closet in the old craftsman the restaurant is housed in. The food was delicious, the service was almost immediate, and obviously Frank's got it going on. The staff cheerfully chatted with almost everybody who came for take-out, which proves that their dinners must be well received. Definitely returning some time soon.

Awesome

We spent 10 nights in Portland and this was by far the best meal we had. The hand pulled noodles are amazing.

Best Noodles

Was in town for a concert and have always wanted to try this place. Brought 2 friends and we were not disappointed. Fantastic meal. Had the Kungpao chicken with the hand pulled noodles. Big portion and so much chicken. Will be a regular stop in Portland from now on!

My kids loved it...even the spicy stuff.

Noodles are handmade, and anything is generally great tasting. The noodles are aren't overpowering and have such great taste and texture, the kids ate more than I could have imagined and so did I. You won't go wrong and the price won't set you back too far. Parking is tough, but once you find a spot, it is worth it. Very quick as well.

Good, not great

Traveled about 25 min to get here from Vancouver and overall happy we did. Arrived around 7:45 on a Sat night to around 15 people standing outside. Waited about 15 min for a table. The first thing that struck me was when the waiter brought water - only one glass for ice while one other was filled with just water and the third glass was left half full despite the pitcher being poured from being almost full. Our order was taken within 5 min and the meal came about 10 min after that. The beef bulgogi was decent although not what I expected. It was boiling (literally) hot but probably 50/50 beef and onion. It tasted okay but not the same flavor I've had before. My noodles with chicken as well as my wife's pork fried rice were both decent but a little short of the flavor we expected. The wait staff as good though and the crowd was friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. Important to know that on weekends the last seating is 8:30 and by 8:40 the chairs were already up on the empty tables. I was a little surprised that as we left and walked right by the owner as we exited, he didn't bother to acknowledge or thank us for visiting. I'm sure with the exposure they received from being on D/D/D, they don't need to earn the business anymore, but the few flaws made this sort of an average visit that probably won't happen again.. Sort of too bad..

inexpensive, fast and good food.

This is a nice walk if staying near convention center. Lots of food for the price, food was quick and food was good.
