amazing milkshakes, good burgers... but again, kid-friendly without being applebees, that ups my rating

I have been coming to Fred 62 for a couple of years now. Service is always hit or miss. Food is ok if not mediocre. I usually come here for the huba huba pancake. It's basically pancake with banana and peanut butter. I think it was 8$. It's an ok place. If only they would have some consistency in their staff.

Awesome food...especially for that hour of the night. Great ambiance. Can't wait to go back. Lots of veggie options.

6 years ago Fred 62 was our surprise discovery. We've been going there ever since. Breakfast anytime, good burgers, variety of Asian soups and, to finish, strawberry or banana milkshake. We are ready to go there. Anytime.

Great salads and sandwiches.

Last Sunday afternoon, my boyfriend and I stopped in at Fred 62 after going on a hike in Griffith Park. I have been to Fred 62 several times, but it was my boyfriend's first visit. In fact, his first visit to Silver Lake. We shared two sandwiches and had a soup starter for the side. I loved the chicken noodle soup, which had noodles that were thick and reminded me of Udon. Really delicious. My boyfriend had a corn chowder, which I sampled. It was good, but a bit spicy for my liking. We shared the grilled cheese served on round shaped sourdough. A classic. The other sandwich was one of their specials- beets and goat cheese on a baguette. It was fabulous! It was sort of like eating a fancy salad, but in a sandwich. Dessert was a bit of a let down. We shared the apple punk tart (think fancy pop tart) ala mode. It was okay, but i think that we would have enjoyed nearly any other dessert on the menu more. The punk tart was too much pastry and too little apple filling. Over all Fred 62 is a great local cafe. The service is top notch and the ambiance is fun- sort of vintage- trendy. It really fits in great in Silver Lake. Please visit my blog for more reviews and local haunts.

I had the avocado toast at Fred 62 for a quick, lite breakfast. Great flavors; really yummy. The coffee and service was the best!

I am an Angeleno and have enjoyed my visits to this hipster diner on the trendy Vermont Avenue in East Hollywood/Los Feliz Village over the years. Food is good and it is a great place for tourists and locals alike to take in a scene. I've dined at Fred 62 for over 15 times (or more) that spanned over 10+ years. It is a nice slice of LA to experience...

This place is cool , not a big verity of dinners. This place is more of a breakfast and lunch.. Great menu on that.. Good spot for family and kids..

Stopped by for the first time for lunch because we were in the area, walking. The menu looked interesting and the waitress was very friendly. I like fresh, interesting salads or healthy sandwiches for lunch. Burgers are out for me. So I went over their extensive sandwich menu and settled for a Mediterranean falafel sandwich with roasted eggplant and tahini. I could just taste all the flavors, I was that hungry. Needless to say, the sandwich was very disappointing... it came in a hamburger roll (Mediterranean?) and all the ingredients were dry and tasteless! The rest of my family ordered a variety of friend chicken sandwiches with interesting sauces and toppings; and every one complained about how tasteless and blah their sandwich was. Let's just say the menu sounds good when you read it, but the cuisine leaves much to be desired. I would never return.

We had dinner here tonight and excellent service get's this place a 4 star review. If I rated on the food it would be a three star or possibly even a two star. My Steak and Eggs came with a steak full of gristle and greasy hash browns. My wafe and one of the teens had the No Animal Burger and they liked them after removing the jalapeno pepper and spicy pickles. The Choc Chips Pancakes got a good from the other teen.

This little gem of a diner has been a stalwart institution for years. Open 24 hours it is great for either a late night visit or anytime visit. We went for breakfast after finding Pasadena too packed. Sitting outside was very pleasant. The service was amazingly good! Our waitress was spot on. The food seemed to come out in minutes! French toast - eggs, bacon, all the right breakfast entrees. Stop by this neat diner on Los Felix blvd. Also the neighborhood is cool and quaint!

This place has average--at best--food and is just a hangout for the local Los Feliz trenoids. The little walkup Greek restaurant across the street is actually MUCH better and less expensive.

Came here for brunch and couldn't hve left more impressed. The decor was classic all-American diner but it was pleasing to seethe menu featured a number of my Mexican favourites. I went for the huevos rancheros followed by a pancake with maple syrup. The first course was delicious, the eggs, beans and burritos all smothered in a delicious spicy tomato sauce. The pancake was equally appetising and so large I was hard pressed to clear my plate! My companion opted for eggs, avocado and potato fritters with toast and confirmed all tasted as freshly made as they looked. Couldn't have hoped for more from my last meal before setting off to Los Angeles airport and would happily eat here again.

Met up with a friend here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the tuna melt and fries which was okay. Unfortunately, the poor service didn't push up the average tuna melt I ordered. People kept coming by, trying to take our dishes that still had food on them, as if to rush us through our meal. I didn't think much of it, at first I thought they were just staying on top of things. But then the waitress left the bill before we were even done eating which isn't out of the ordinary but what got me is that she would stop by every minute or so to look if we put our money down. We were NOT doing with our meal. After feeling pressured, we put our debit cards down and then she kept walking by looking to pick up the receipts. We were still enjoying our drinks and deep into conversation. At that point the manager? came up and asked us to leave because it was "busy". We hadn't even been in the restaurant an hour and were really extremely turned off by how rude the staff was. If that is what Fred 62 thinks Customer Service is than they need to rethink that. I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

For a cool neighborhood, Los Feliz lacks late night dining options. That's why Fred 62 is so packed on weekends after 2:00 AM. The design of the place is almost too cool, as if it's trying too hard, with vintage car-seat booths and keys embedded into the sidewalk right outside the restaurant. The food is good enough, but nothing more. Lots of people love Fred 62; I'm not one of them.

We enjoyed sitting street side for a delicious lunch. The mango lemonade was a real treat, along with the loaded nacho appetizer. My husband, who tries veggie burgers at every stop, said this one was superior. My son enjoyed the pork belly sandwich. My cup of chicken and veggie soup with rice was very tasty. Fortunately I ordered the smaller fried chicken salad because the portion was large! It was delicious! Service was excellent!

Finally, a restaurant, where a bowling shirt is de rigeur

The restaurant is good, most of the vine and hype is a about being being in the heart of Los Feliz, looking at the different types of people passing by. The food is good not great, I recommend the juicy Lucy burger and fruits or the fish and chips. The wait staff are excellent.

Food was okay. Guy at the counter got my order wrong and charged me way more then he should have. Would have been helpful to know that betting three shots of espresso is twice and expensive as a double. The presentation was really sub par. My coffee came in a coke cup and it tasted like literal dirt. I ended in paying over $25 for a breakfast burrito and a coffee. Only giving a rating on 2 because the food was ok.

Great place to go in the summer and sit on the patio. California cuisine with a creative flair.

Small roadside cafe/restaurant. Diner style seating and booths inside and ample seats outside. Friendly welcoming staff. Prompt service. We ordered Chilli fries and avocado on toast. Both were both amazing. Really tasty. Could go back daily if rest of menu tasted as good.

The food was fantastic!! Try the strawberry crepes or anything else on the menu. You won't be disappointed!

everything tastes good late at night.....

Vacationing in LA area and had plans to spend the evening at the Griffith Observatory. We were looking to grab some dinner relatively close and Fred 62 fit the bill. We found it in a nice trendy area on Vermont Ave. Diner-like atmosphere but with an artsy flair and a menu that would suit many tastes including gluten free and vegan. The service was very good and our choices were very tasty. They are open 24 hours and serve breakfast all day. No regrets!

Basically just a diner. The food was okay. Nothing special. Quick and courteous service. They hype up their burgers but they are very average.

Great late night food!

Useful diner.

Retro style diner/restaurant in Los Feliz, close to Silver Lake and Hollywood. Lots of breakfast choices and specials. Lunch offers lots more options than the dinner menu. Serves vegan and gluten-free. Seems to get a lot of regulars and, as expected near Hollywood, a good number of posers nursing a coffee and small bite. Grab a beer, glass of wine, or even a bloody mary. Expect to sit a while. This place gets busy at times and the waitstaff has all it can do to keep up.

MAC and CHEESE Balls are a must great burgers open 24/7

suggest come for happy hour for food and drink. A nice funky decor and you get plenty of food besides being tasty.

really bad and an annoying crowd

Nice diner, very good good, reasonable prices. Love the tuna sandwich roll. A lot of health options.

They are open late and wont make you sick like the house of pies across the street....but is that a good review?...

Food was decent, sat outside. This is an old classic spot in Los Feliz. Lots of character (not to mention characters!). This is a great neighborhood for strolling around and a nice place to chill.

I had heard that Fred 62 was amazing. I wanted it to be so, but it just didn't quite measure up. I had the Jucy Lucy burger - which was tasty, a bit greasy but still delicious. But the fries were a bit soggy. They tasted like they didn't get cooked long enough or they had been sitting a bit before they came to me. We also shared the Mac-n-cheese balls. They were delicious, but the temperature was akin to magma. For dessert we had an apple punk tart (their version of a pop tart) - this was one of the things I had heard so much about, but failed to measure up. The gooey apple center was just in the center and multiple bites were just bready-sugary crust. I later learned you could order it ala mode - which would have been a great way to combat the lack of filling, but was not mentioned by our server. Will I go back? ya - but it's not the top of my list...

i loooooove this diner. right in the heart of los feliz. get yourself anything...ANYTHING your heart desires at 3 or 4am...i'm even talking peanut butter and JELLY and a nice tall glass of cold milk. their tortilla omelletes are EPIC. did i say how much i love this place? right down the street from the house of pies as well! : )

Every time I go to Los Angeles I have to go to Fred 62 for their breakfast sandwich. Only place I have been that puts the hash browns on the sandwich, not separate.

My wife andI recently stopped in for lunch at Fred 62 and enjoyed the experience. She had a falafel dish and I had the bahn mi sandwich. The falafel got mixed reviews but the bahn mi was food. We had bottomless cups of coffee and ice tea. Service was prompt and friendly. I would definitely go back for lunch.

Not real hungry thought we would give this place a go. Not overly impressed with the food options also place needs a make over its very outdated.

This Retro Diner, now more full service restaurant, has something on their menu for everyone. You can also have breakfast at lunch if you want. I had the B.L.T.L.A. and it was very good, including fresh avocado. It was more than I needed for lunch, but I also finished up a toasted cheese sandwich and fries that one of the grandkids couldn’t eat and they were awesome, just like Mom used to make. It is fun to look around the restaurant and imagine what it must have been like in the heydays. I’m sure the place has many stories it could tell. But here is the important stuff: Atmosphere is bustling and friendly. The service is good, but they can get busy, especially on good days when the outside seating if full as well, which is most days in LA. Food quality was excellent, everyone loved what they had and the portions were quite nice. Pricing was not too bad, about $70 for the five of us. For little kids here is a tip: The Perfect Nachos are awesome with tons of guacamole on top. An adult would love all that guacamole, but might be too much for an 8 year old! The Kids Grilled Cheese and French Fries is awesome, trust me.

My husband read about this place on one of his many travel sites. It is near Griffith Park and was on our way to the Observatory. The place is a retro style diner - but not in the loud 50s colors you are used to. Everything truly seems to be authentic. The food, however, was anything but retro. The salads were huge and delicious. The pot pie of the day was amazing - and nothing like Swanson or Marie Callendar! The onion rings were delicious and my son had an amazing short rib sandwich. The daily lemonade was outstanding and fresh. If you are in the area - you must try!

Fred 62 is a small diner on the corner of a busy street in Silverlake. The menu is huge, the staff are pretty miserable (what you'd expect from a 24/7) and in the evening prepare to share the sidewalk seating with a lot of cockroaches. It's late night eating with local Silverlakers to a Prince soundtrack, and if you can over look the service and the uninvited cockroach friends you've found your spot, let's face it, with prices like these you really can't complain. My tip: the late night 'food truck' menu is pretty awesome- skip the deep fried BBQ pasta balls (obviously) and grab a couple of lobster tacos, their excellent.

it's only rock 'n roll.... but I like it

The chick pea appetizer with hummus and babaganoush was awesome, had avocado instead of chili paste. Delish and a whole meal plus enough to share.

There aren't many decent places to eat after 11pm in LA, Fred 62 is one of them. Let's see. Parking is a [--] but this is LA people, if parking is free, I have no problem eagle eyeing it to get it. The wait. Sure, there can be a wait, but my bf and I sat at the bar within 5 mintues. The food is good. Straight up. Milkshake was great...Boyfriend got pancakes tartain (pancakes with carmelized apples baked in) and yum. I ordered the "special" tamales. I'm of tamale eating people and they were legit. The price is nice...maybe I'm not a starving hipster, but hey, sue me. We got a milshake, Stella Atrois, pancake and tamales for under $30. How can anyone complain about that? I'm just relieved I will not be reduced to Denny's when I'm hungry at 3 am. Yipee!!

Went on a Sunday night, was quite busy Staff were friendly but service a bit sloppy, left dirty plates on table from earlier courses Food average, got cold chips with burger If a few little things were done better it would have scored 4

3.5 - i actually really like this place anytime i'd gone. food and service is good. great for people watching, although the crowds and parking can be daunting if you're not in the mood. good for late night, too.

After a book event in Skylight, a big group of us went here to grab something to eat and have a drink. I had the mac and cheese balls and they were delicious! I really enjoyed them

Not a big fan. It'snice that it's always open, but I once went there with some friends, they ordered BLT's that smelled like fish, which was just wrong. The food is just okay and personally I'd rather go to one of the late night Thai noodle places in Hollywood that are just a couple of blocks away for cheaper, far superior food.

Met friends for a late lunch. Burgers were great. My daughter had Mac and cheese balls and they were fine...similar to other spots. Milkshake was really good. Had attentive service even though they were very full. Menu seems extensive but we stuck with diner classics.

The server was super nice and great table manners. The food was so delicious. If you come make sure to get their pancakes. The orange juice is fresh ! We are outside and watch the cars passed and enjoyed great company of others as well.

As a coeliac vegetarian I really struggle to find anywhere to eat!! I googled gluten free around my area and this place came up so my mum and I went there to have brunch. I had falafel wrapped in a sort of spring roll outing, it was so much nicer than I can describe, can’t reccomend it enough!! Wish there was more falafel served with it though that’s the only thing I’d say. But coeliac friendly lots of different options really enjoyed it thank you

What a delicious meal we enjoyed! Wonderful service and staff - everything was excellent and reasonably priced. We're just sorry we live on the east coast and can't enjoy this place more often!

Four of us were in the area and so decided to give this place a try with an early dinner. Two of us had the No Animal Burger, which was very good but not the very best ever as they said. One person had a Tuna Melt which they enjoyed and the fourth person ordered a Small Ahi Tuna Salad which they were very pleased with. We had three sides, which are ordered separately, not included with the sandwiches, and they were all good especially the Onion Rings. The manager, who waited on us, was friendly and personable. I'd return.

We found this place by looking for the best breakfast places in LA online and Fred 62 was the closest to where we were staying. It was an early Tuesday morning so it wasn't busy but the staff were lovely and attentive. The pancakes are the fluffiest we've had on our 10 day stay in LA. I had the pancakes with strawberries and cream and my boyfriend had the buttermilk pancakes. I struggled to finish as I'm not used to these massive American portions! The Oreo milkshake was yummy too!

The trick with every diner is knowing what to order. The burgers and shakes are excellent, but the breakfast burrito is the home run. I have barely scratched the surface of the menu, but I have no doubts about the quality of the food. The only issue is that the staff (seemingly hired for their looks) has a tendency to lose you when it's busy, especially if you're in the private table. If you're in a rush, this is probably not the place to go.

We had a lot of milkshakes in California, and a lot of good ones at that, but Fred 62 had to be the absolute best! Located in Los Feliz - a totally brilliant area. Make sure you visit!

We passed this place on our way from the Griffith Observatory, were we had seen the sun rise. (Very nice by the way). It was our first morning in LA and we were hungry for breakfast. Entering the diner filled me with happiness, since it looked from something out of a 70’tis movie. The guys working there were cool and nice. We had a great avocado and egg sandwich.

A great place to eat after clubbing in Hollywood.

What a wonderful find! After a day visiting Griffith Observatory we followed a friends recommendation and continued down Vermont to find Fred 62. The 6 of us just loved the funky 60s atmosphere. But what was the best was the varied and delish menu. Something for everyone. And we ate a little bit of everything on their "comfort Diner food" menu: appetizers included: fried mac and cheese balls, sweet potato fries, onion rings; Deli melt sandwich, Pork Belly Bahn Mi, Vegetarian Wrap, Hebrew National Hot Dog, Chicken Caesar Sandwich, and the BLTLA. We just loved everything and would recommend Fred 62! Loved the entire evening!

Delicious. Blueberry pancakes lightly crisp on the edges with melt in your mouth middle. There were 4 of us, seated promptly. About 10am on a Tuesday . Good coffee. Definitely would eat breakfast again.

Have I mentioned the waffle? With ice cream? Interesting place, outdoor seating, you can hang with the pooch outside, a door down from Palermo's. One of my faves is the Bukowski.

When you want somewhere to eat in a strange town and the clock's ticking, you throw the dice and hope for the best. This may have made Fred 62 seem better in my memory than it might actually be. The fragility of memory notwithstanding it was simply a great find. The food, hippie salad, was fresh, appealing and altogether a thing of beauty. All other choices of teenagers and adults were equally spiffing. I'm liking Los Feliz in general before we sit down and the feeling followed me into the joint. A reflection of the district as a whole: it needs investigating and will reward you for your efforts.I don't think it takes its name from FRED 62(Financial Reporting Exposure Draft 62): Draft amendments to FRS 102 Financial Reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. But hey what do I know?

We stopped into Fred 62 for a quick lunch. Service was OK. The meals were very good. The bacon on the BLT I ate was delicious, somewhat thick and lean. Fred 62 serves diner-like food. We didn't partake in respect to their desserts and many of their sweet creations looked good. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a quick meal, a diner or snack. All of us enjoyed our lunches.

Trendy. Saw Quentin Tarantino, Heather Grahm, Barbara Bain and Geena Davis here. Funky diner food, tasty too!

I am being teased because I talked way too much about this Thai Cobb salad. It was hauntingly delicious. That means I need to go back and have it again..

They changed their menu a couple of months ago, reduced the number of options and added some new meals such as the freshwish which are rice paper rolls with different option: pork belly, shrimp, chicken, thai salad which are all gluten free option. They of course have all the Diners traditional meals from burger, to breakfast eggs, milk shake,... They also have night menu (with lobster tacos) Outdoor seating, 24/7 and the setting is fantastic wether you are at the bar, on one of the corner table or outside. Staff is super efficient and friendly

Was visiting Los Angeles, from London in the UK- me and my friend were driving around trying to find a place to eat breakfast then we came across Fred 62 on the corner... we popped in sat down in a booth and ordered breakfast which was delicious! Lovely waiting staff and lovely food! Would definitely recommend... I hope to go back one day!

We were in the mood for something greasy and a classic american diner. This place was perfect. I had the tuna melt and it was superb. The interior is cool and diner-style and the service is excellent. I will definitely be back!

Great healthy diner food and awesome root beer floats and shakes (espresso, peanut butter ... or banana chocolate...). Sit at the counter. Enjoy.

One of my favorite restaurants in all of LA. I lived down the street and often stopped in for all of my daily meals. Many films have been filmed around the block so it's cool to check it out and hang a bit. The Thai Cobb salad is to die for.

We were here 3 times in 2 weeks if that tells you anything. We were in the process of relocating our son to LA, so this was the perfect late night place to dine in his neighborhood after moving and setting up household all day. A 24 hour diner with a great menu! AND WINE!!! Not your basic diner fare, such fun and creative menu options. We were loving the comfort food options. It was never crowded though we went at odd hours, always at night. Every item we chose was fabulous. Mac and cheese balls, pot pie of the night, short rib dinner, partridge family fried chicken, sloppy joe, patty melt, apple crumble, expresso shakes and I think that's it! There were so many things we wanted to try but we stuck to our favs. The service was great and we were always served quickly. We love the "drunkards and stoners" menu options but since we were moving we were not drunk or stoned, probably should have been though! We wish we had tried the breakfast but will do that next time. It's such an easy place to dine when you really don't want to go the fine dining route and just want good old comfort food, with an upscale twist!

I visited Fred 62 before I moved to LA, and I'll tell you, it made me feel like if LA can have a restaurant like this, then LA must be a great place to live! .... The menu is huge, the American fare delicious, the portions huge, the prices great, the service top-notch, the retro booths edgy and cool, and fellow customers all look interesting and like folks you'd like to know. Plus it's open 24/7. And a convenient location, pretty close to downtown Hollywood.... I love love love Fred 62, and you will, too!

The waitress was rude. Maybe their food could have tasted better if we weren't having a terrible experience. Never coming back

Great diner in Los Feliz that is always open. Wait times are hit or miss but obviously it depends on when you go. Great brunch options and a good variety of new takes on old classics. I usually get the Dime Bag, which is your standard pancake breakfast but it's delicious.

Breakfast at Fred 62 is a trip back in time to the 1960s -- delicious food prepared freshly and quickly with great service. Our omelettes were done to perfection, and substitutions were graciously allowed -- applewood bacon instead of sausage, for example. The coffee is strong and flavorful without tasting bitter. Portions are generous.

Wanted a bit of lunch near our travelodge and walked past here. Looked busy and cool so popped in. Turned out to be an American diner but with a great diverse menu. Nice fresh drinks and and very friendly service.

Stopped off on the way to golf and the very pleasant waitress suggested this and wow, did it deliver. One of the 10 Best breakfast dishes I've ever eaten. (You might need to be a chorizo fan.) We've eaten here many times and always liked it, always been satisfied. Very nice vibe.

My favorite breakfast spot in LA is Fred 62. Great atmosphere, great food, great prices.

Walk right in and take a table, the servers are nice as can be. Menu is good, we each got Wimpy burgers, delicious. We have been here numerous times and will keep coming.

My husband and I went here for breakfast (before visiting Barnsdall Park and touring the Hollyhock House). The decor is fun, from the '60's, as was the music, and the menu is not extensive for breakfast, but large enough. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was terrific! I had the breakfast burrito, and ended up taking half home. We'll definitely go back to try lunch, perhaps (which looked great too), or back to have another breakfast. Only drawback may be parking, but in spite of street cleaning we ended up finding a spot a block away. In a pinch Barnsdall Park is only a ten-minute walk away.

The service plus the food equaled a mediocre experience for us. First issue was parking, which appears to be common for restaurants in that neighborhood. Regardless, it took us a minute to find spots but we eventually saw there was a paid lot tucked off across the street. The building has an old school diner feel to it with the booths and benches and there's also a decent amount of outside seating The service was again, mediocre. The greeter showed us to our seats and our waiter came almost immediately -- standard. But after we ordered our food we didn't see him again until we were just about finished. So he never came to ask us How our meal was or refill water... But he did check on the table behind us a few times For the food... My dish was not a good fit for me. I got the California Omelette, which came with their house-made chicken sausage (really sweet, I didn't enjoy it), sun-dried tomatoes, avocados and goat cheese. The omelette itself was a fried egg with the ingredients above just stuffed into it, instead of being cooked into it, which I prefer. Ultimately I ended up dousing it with Cholula, but I didn't enjoy it. The hash browns on the side were good though My husband ordered the brisket sandwich (I forgot the name), but he seemed to think it was alright. He mentioned something about the meat being prepared like corned beef or something, but he even regretted not just getting the burger afterwards We probably won't be going back

You don't expect much from a diner, but this place is phenomenal! The decor looks like you just walked onto the set of Happy Days. The food is always freshly prepared and there is a always a hip, cool energy to the place. I strongly recommend the malts (espresso and chocolate/banana are my favorites), , Sonoma salad, and omelets.

Pricey and sceney. But open late.

This place has a nice 50's diner feel to it. The food is nothing special. They do have a table which is private to the rest of the restaurant, but you have to ask for it. The only problem with the private room is that you have sit indian style; there are no chairs.

Ate here after arriving from a long flight. Service was fast and food was good. We ate the breakfast burrito, hash brown, pancakes and all were delicious. The only challenge with this place is the parking which is common in all eating places in LA.

I googled places to eat in the area I was staying, this place came up and o realised I'd walked past it before. On my last night in LA I had a Sloppy Joe burger and a pint of IPA. Incredible food and huge portions. Definitely with the $! The waitress was lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. They were playing some excellent music too. The menu is amazing, so much to choose from. Give it a go if you're around 🍔👍

always open, decent food (too scared to try the asian food, as an asian person), street parking can be hell.

I went here with my mom, my grandma and my aunt. It was for a pre-mothers day because everything will be so crowded for mothers day. The coffee was amazing, The onion rings were fabulous. I have never seen my grandma eat so fast. The price was fair. The only thing i would have to say as they werent attentive alot. Most of the time they were standing around and its like why we need more coffee or needed something and they didnt come and check on us. We had to hail them down like a taxi. But all and all it was great and I would recommend it.

I went here for an early morning breakfast, and got the scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and hash-browns. The turkey sausage was frankly gross, badly spiced and tasted like very low quality meat. The eggs and hashbrowns were decent, but on balance, I felt like the breakfast was overpriced for what it was. That is when the waiter noticed that I had eaten just the tiniest corner of the hash browns, and to my shock asked, not rhetorically, if the turkey sausage wasn't very good. He was attentive in a serious way, in part because he cared enough to have been mentioning exactly this item from the menu as not having been eaten by almost any customer. He deserves a medal, because very few staff at diners care enough to try to actively improve the place. When you go, ASK the waitstaff what they think about your order!

Man oh man do the staff at fred 62 seem to be having a bad day. We started off inconveniencing them by ordering some coffees, then inconveniencing them even more by ordering breakfast. After the long wait of our food to arrive it was slapped onto the table and by then after the Terrible service and average looking food we had already lost our appetites. Hopefully the staff were having a really bad day and their service has improved infact we couldn't even bring ourselves to tip them Pros Lots of tables outside in the sun and always available Fred 62 - good catchy name Cons Food was ok Service was terrible

Not the first time I've been to Fred 62, and definitely not the last. This time, however, I was knocked out by one of the tastiest, best-prepared salads I've enjoyed in LA: The Thai Cobb. I like cobb salads, but the Thai twist really elevated this dish. There's aways good friendly service, too. Recommended.

I've never lived near Fred 62 but have literally decades of good memories eating here when I've been in the neighborhood. Not much has changed (except on the list latest visit the toasters were gone from the tables. I mean I've never used a toaster at a restaurant but have always loved the kitsch of it.) There's a lot of purposeful kitsch here and you either dig it or you don't. (I do.) I especially love the extensive vegetarian menu. I mean no less than 3 kinds of veggie burgers, always good french fries, and that Bearded Mr. Frenchy (cornflake encrusted French Toast...YUM! My wife dug her Carrot Ginger Bisque. I was okay with the Boss Mac n' Cheese. (Which actually may have been too cheese if that's even possible.) Our kid liked his "No Animal" burger. We left sated and maybe even comforted. I hope Fred 62 stays here forever...it's nice to have a neighborhood joint with comfort food galore. (Even if it's not my neighborhood.

The person I was meeting recommended this funky little neighborhood spot. There's on the street parking or a lot. I was there a bit early about 40 minutes and the staff welcomed me to take a seat and get a booth while I could. There are parts of this restaurant that are worn down there's holes in some of the booths cute kitschy car like booths, but I found the place to be really clean. The overhead vents and air conditioning vents were clean as a whistle...it's a pet peeve of mine and I was delighted to see how clean! I ordered the avocado toast which wasn't what I expected it was sliced avocados on toast yummy but I was expecting something a little more funky from the descriptions. I did have what could be the best vegetarian burger I've ever had. The brioche bun was delicious but the burger mixed with pickles and jalapeño peppers was amazing! Servers were friendly!

Stumbled across this place on google and decided to give it a try for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Loved it! The food was tasty, the service excellent and it’s nicely decorated to. Will visit again when I’m back on the West Coast!

The Thai Cobb Sal’s is good here but everything else is pretty standard, but OMG- SO EXPENSIVE !!!! No way they can justify a price of over $20 for a plate of bacon and eggs and a coffee - puleeeeze! Ridiculous. Save your money.

We had lunch twice at Fred 62 over the past six months in Los Feliz, a funky dowager community in Los Angeles, when we went to the Children's Hospital nearby. Fred 62 is an old fashioned luncheonette, where the best seats are at the counter, which takes up half of the dining room. We have nothing like it in Irvine. The menu is simple and straightforward - salads, sandwiches, and chili - local favorites I suppose. In both visits, the servers were friendly and our orders were served quickly. The food tasted freshly prepared and very good. We will need to find another reason to go to Los Feliz, because when there, Fred 62 is a must.

nothing wrong with the food or atmosphere... just a tad pricey tho it is 'gourmet' diner food...

We stopped for lunch at this diner as we spotted it on the way down from the Griffith Observatory and it looked busy (usually a good sign). The staff were friendly and efficient in showing us to our table and taking our orders and the food arrive quickly. Although everything we orders was ok it was nothing special and considering the overall cost (all sides etc were extra) felt a little disappointed. The overall atmosphere of the place was good but we felt the high cost were not justified for what is essentially a diner.

This is my number 1 place to get an egg sandwich with avacado and a chai at 4 o'clock in the morning.

This place has a great diner feel with a menu that features classics and creative upscale dishes all at good prices.

I had my first ever Malt experience. I love chocolate shakes, now I love chocolate malts! Had a great fun experience and enjoyed the unique-edgy menu.

We had brunch here on Sunday. Great breakfasts all around, outdoor seating, great service, decent prices.

The restaurant has a slight arty / alternate feel to it which was nice. Had lunch op the patio. Menu has some original items. Food was of good quality and price was reasonable.

I used to LOVE this place...15 years ago. Since then, not only has the quality gone way down, but people in my group have gotten sick, usually from the potato salad. It hasn't been an isolated incident, either. So sad to see it go so far downhill. Thank God the Alcove, expensive as it is, offers a great local backup.

Came out of the movies at Los Feliz at midnight and people were eating outside on a Thursday night. Went in, smelled awesome; 60’s eclectic malt shop with ultra hip dishes. Lady next to me was having bbq pork nachos and bagels and lox with a huge side of bacon. Guys on the left had pancakes, chicken waffle sliders, sweet potato fries and chili. I ended up with a Pinot Grigio and the bbq nachos which had besides the usual, guacamole and bbq pork. Didn’t taste like any nachos I ever had. Great crowd, music and food, I’ll be back and very reasonable too!

My husband and I really enjoyed splitting the fried chicken and waffle dinner! Delicious! The waitress was super helpful when making our decisions!

It's a great little hole in the wall with no parking but the food and service is well worth it. Nice portions for good prices. It's a must for great breakfast!!!

Friendly attentive staff, reasonably priced good food. Located in the walkable Los Feliz neighborhood

Fried maccaroni and cheese balls are yummy!

The menu is as eclectic as their clientele. You can order anything from Macaroni and Cheese to Pho to Burritos. This place has something for everyone. This is the best mac n cheese EVER. Three melted cheeses, jalapenos, breaded top--all put in the oven. OMG. 'Nuff said. Open 24 hours

aight.

Feeling like an open air old school diner without the design, Fred 62 is funky and authentic in the best of ways. Warm staff, great vibe and great food make this worth a visit regardless of where you are staying in Los Angeles. If you need to work and eat its a great place for that too but I suggest you just stroll in, order breakfast and take it in. Outdoor seating is nice too and I've done it on more than one occasion while here in LA for a brief time. I only had breakfast but it hit the spot every time, even at 1 pm in the afternoon.

A neighborhood and tourist favorite for real L.A. neighborhood atmosphere and flare. Recently, a new menu was introduced which appeared to offer fresher food in imaginative combos. This confusing new menu, along with sloppy execution of it, has led to situation expressed in two words. Lousy Food. Examples, one of our party ordered Beef Ribs and Brisket. He asked to reaffirm, "BEEF ribs, the Big Ones?" Cheefully affirmed by a wonderful waitress, "Yes, huge beef ribs." What arrives are tiny pork ribs with brisket next to it, trouble was the brisket was a square of beef fat, no brisket. No complaint....as the pork ribs were edible enough. I, on the other hand, knowing this place, strive to keep it simple, "Pastrami sandwich, please." What arrives is falafal. Honest mistake, I eat it, tell the waitress, then in time for us to leave the Pastrami sandwich arrives neatly packed to go. Nice touch. I eat the sandwich the next day and its sliced pork (?). I hope this neighborhood favorite wakes up and becomes what it once was again.

What a super place. Enjoy the breakfast every time we come to town. Wide variety. All good. Service fine but live the old feel of the place. Like home.

We were unfamiliar with this area of Hollywood/Los Feliz, but Thanksgiving Day required a long visit to a nearby hospital and there was no time to plan a Thanksgiving dinner. So we drove around the neighborhood and noticed that Fred62 was open and that they had a Thanksgiving Special posted in their windows. We knew immediately that we wanted to go traditional with the Special. The dinerish place was fairly full at mid-afternoon and we took one of the booths. Apart from the items on the Thanksgiving Turkey Special, we ordered Avocado Toast which had nice chunks of avocado tastily presented on toast. Service was good and the server recommended the Thanksgiving Turkey Special, noting that the turkey had been marinating for several days. I sort of expected dry turkey which I have often found at restaurants, but theirs was moist, flavorful and delicious. It was presented nicely on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes, along with sides of string beans, stuffing, gravy and cranberries. The turkey had both white and dark meat and they were equally good. The cranberry cup was out of this world (not sure what spice they added to it, but it was delicious). I skipped the gravy since there was already enough on the turkey. Stuffing was excellent and had some wild rice as part of its composition. The only negative was the string beans (they were probably blanched for about 10 seconds and were too raw for my taste). The coup de grace was the Pumpkin Tart which was part of the Thanksgiving Turkey Special. Obviously house-made with care, it had the kind of flaky crust that only Mom could make. To die for! I looked at the rest of the normal daily menu and there were a lot of items that I would love to try the next time I am in the area. Breakfast items look particularly appetizing and there are wonderful daily dinner specials.

The waiter who took our bill was rude and disrespectful. First he physically threw the bill down at the table, then instead of apologizing for the long wait, he accused us and said "you don't realize that you're not the only people here in the restaurant." Yes that was true but we had already waited 20 minutes to pay our bill, which was met with a really bad and unapologetic attitude. Won't come back because of him.

Parking sucks but it's 24 hours and the tofu enchiladas and banana milkshakes make up for it. I've been eating here off and on for 9 years.

This place is such a hidden gem! Love the classic diner vibes - so colorful inside. The service was so friendly and the food was good for diner food. Check it out!

Arranged to meet up with some friends for breakfast whilst visiting LA and this was the chosen location. We were seated right away and given the menu which has a great amount of choice. I went with the pancakes and OJ. The OJ was freshly squeezed and delicious so couldn't really ask for more. The pancakes came and were very tasty, nice and light and very filling. One of the best set of pancakes I had on my trip (and I ate a lot of pancakes!) All in all it was a great place to come for a breakfast as the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed so it makes a good choice to meet with friends. The prices are also very reasonable. I like that the place is open 24 hours so no matter what time you want something to eat you know Fred's will always be open for something tasty.

Great food. This is a place where I never know what to order because everything looks awesome. Burgers, asian, mexican, vegan--they do it all. The staff always have funny slogans on their T-shirts. I enjoy the booth seating. Fun neighborhood to walk around in. Street parking isn't really a problem.

Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Unique menu with plenty of tasty food choices. Cool designed retro-diner inside and outside.

Fantastic enchiladas at this spot in Los Feliz. Great place to stop on the way to Griffith Park or to catch a movie across the street. Service was great, friendly, and the enchiladas were noteworthy, perfect amount of heat.

open 24 hours, great food.

Fun diner food and great for late nights after the bar.

Terrible service, very poor quality, they bring things that are not ordered Too many bad I wouldn't go again even if it were free

Haven't been here in years. Still the wonderful selections and great preparation. Love the breakfast choices with flavorful touches. Service friendly and efficient. Ambience so fun. We did not eat outside. Usually this would have been the choice. Easy to recommend.

a greasy spoon that's best enjoyed on a late night (or early morning) with the best staff uniforms in town - t-shirts with pithy sayings on the back...

I love pancakes and it's something I don't have all the time so when I do I make sure it's from Fred 62. Love coming here for breakfast with my boyfriend and believe this place never disappoints. A must for us when picking a place for breakfast!

It a great dinner. The roast beef sandwich is the best. I love the booths and the outdoor tables. Very scenester-ish!

LOL. biggest scenster hangout evarrrr.... it's rad cause its open late, but not really worth it. the prices are pretty large for the small sizes...OH BUT! NO ONE CAN TOUCH THE MAC DADDY AND CHEESE. the bossanova dessert after mac daddy is great after a night of dancing...

Fred 62 became by go to breakfast place when I stayed in Los Feliz. It has a great energy and a big menu. I went for the pancakes and waffles most times I visited and they were both tasty. They also have a special lemonade each day. I tried raspberry and mango!

If you are looking for a casual dinner with more of a "locals" than "touristy" crowd, then Fred 62 is a great option. It's cosy, has great ambiance, just like you'd expect from an old diner and you can get awesome burgers, sandwiches, fries and milk shakes at a resonable price. You'll sometimes have to wait for a table and if you have a large party you may have to split up as tables don't easily fit more than 4 adults. I had a great post LA Marathon meal there this year and it hit the spot!

I am not a person who takes pictures of food but I wish I had. On a day drive today we came upon Freds 62 and desided to stop because pizza sounded good. I ordered the Dodge Charger (the different types of slices are named after cars) Sausage pepperoni and cheese. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce was very flavorful and it had that delicious caramelized cheese edges. I highly recommend trying them out.

Very good affordable food in a cute kitchy area of Los Feliz. The hipsters are def. in full effect, but they have amazing cheesecake and chunky ice!!!

The inside is decidedly "murky" at night and the menus are a lightweight font on a dark background. The upholstery and old tables, and yellowish looking walls (under the dim lighting) gave an impression of seediness but were in fact clean. Depending on where you sit, you may need a flashlight or your phone to read your choices as well as to find out what you are eating when it's served. Prices are OK and there is a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and entrees. The Juicy Lucy Burger is tasty and featured really fresh bread and meat. The Thai salad was uniquely presented in a square shape (it was assembled in a mold) but had an odd taste. Our waitress made sparse appearances then went and sat in the back at the counter and appeared to be eating. We were not offered beverage refreshes for soda or beer. It turned out that she had gone off duty - and simply stopped checking on us early in our meal and didn't let us know she was going off duty. When a new waitress eventually arrived, we wanted pie for dessert. Have you ever heard of a diner that does not serve pie? Now you have. Instead they offered us something they described as a home-made pop tart. We went to the Alcove and had our dessert there instead.

Great to grab a bite after the clubs close. Really fun place.

We have had breakfast here a couple of times while visiting family in the area. This last weekend I had the Smoked Brisket Hash with poached eggs. I want to eat this again, and again. It was perfection on a plate!

Freds has a huge menu, which is sometimes, not such a good thing. Here it is, almost everything I've had, has been fresh, comfort style food with always a fun flair.

Had the Thai Cobb salad and was pleasantly surprised! Quick seating, good service, and good food. Avoid the restroom, however. The one place that needed better servicing.

It's a corner hangout and they have fabulous UDON, and NOO soups -strictly vegetarian unless you want to add shirmp, chicken, or... $10 and $9 respectively and a full meal. Very down home, seating is inside and out, service is good but what I love is I can count on the quality of the food. Also had the Chickpea fritters, light, satisfying ( and I don't normally order fried foods). It's a definite YES.

It's horrible trying to find parking around the restaurant! There's two paid parking lots but they are very small and fill quickly. The food was average and I wouldn't return considering it's not near my home (we were watching a play at a nearby theater right after lunch).

Nice diner feel. Great for late nite. Beautiful pommes frites,

My personal favorites are the Thai Cobb Salad, the Lala Salad, the New Amsterdam Breakfast Sandwich, and the Lattes. Good fruit bowls too and a big plus is being able to order a side of sauteed or steamed spinach or vegetables. All the sandwhiches are really good. I've tried the steak dinner, that's good too. Pancakes are good, any of the breakfasts are good and desserts are yummy if a tad rich. Service is from normal to superfast and servers are friendly. Great place to go for some beer and snacks without going to a bar, or for a latte and fruit in the morning. Open late.

Traditional american diner food here. I'm not a huge fan of the style but the Pie was good and I enjoyed my burger.

Went this morning to fill up before a drive to San Diego. The place seemed so friendly and the staff was very nice. It seemed like there were regulars in there ( if folks from LA can ever be referred to as "regulars"). Wifey had the New Amsterdam and I has the Bearded Mr. Frenchy. The coffee is top notch diner coffee and they refilled it frequently. The place is very comfortable, funky, retro and classic all at the same time, which is a tough challenge to pull off successfully. They do, and you should give them a shot i you're nearby.

Way convenient for casual eats before a show at the greek. Service was way slow even after we said we were going up the hill for a concert. Waitress had a bit of a poor attitude and a way long wait to place our order and a much longer wait for her to pick up the check...The place only had a dozen customers and tan least 3 food servers on duty. Kinda a cool place with a diner style. Large menu: diner style ranging from burgers to chicken and waffles. Guess it's okay---average at best.

This little diner style RESTURANT is in Los Vilas section of Hollywood and has a great, affordable ($10) breakfast. The "egg in the hole" was definitely my favorite, make sure you sit outside as the paramount studio is down the block and you never know who you might see. On this morning we saw jerry Seinfeld shooting a video directly in front of our table.

didn't like the service, food was mediocre, parking's a pain.

great for late-night unhealthy breakfast food. fun atmosphere

Great for breakfast @ 4 am

Great Diner Food!

We were seated at beautiful table with a great view. I had the Autumn Salad and my daughter had soup. The bread was delicious. Our service was superb and I will be returning soon.

This used to serve one of the best burgers in LA but on our last visit this week we endured a crumbling mess of a pate, with tasteless milkshake in a grimy setting that needs a lick of paint. Hugely disappointing and a big shame as it used to be a top spot. Service still good but food unfortunately poor
Best Breakfast Sandwich in LA
The Berkeley breakfast sandwich is perfect any time of day! It is perfection! Their milkshakes are also delicious.
