My husband & I visited this little place off Interstate 35 recently and we were pleasantly surprised. Several offerings with a Cajun twist. All of it was good. Gumbo was tasty, some specials offered. I had a steak topped with fried oysters. The oysters were unbelievably good, I could have eaten an entire plate of them. Beer and wine available. The service was efficient. The place is small, they are busy and probably need to expand. Prices were reasonable. We ate early and by the time we left, there was a crowd waiting to be seated. Have recommended to others.

We went here our second night in Austin was amazed at how great and authentic the food tasted. Will definitely go back every time we're in town.

Delicious Tilapia Almondine. Stuffed Catfish was good but the stuffing took over the flavor of the catfish which was small. The flavors were good and if in the area we would tried other dishes on their menu. Love their bread pudding.

Our party of four had chicken, mahi mahi, trout and rib eye - all delicious. One bread pudding for dessert, but it was excellent. The big surprise was a special on fine wine at great prices.

This is a great out of the way place to eat. Amazing food and good prices. Not what you would expect.from the location.

It is recommended by by coworker who knew I like French Quarter at New Orlean. The place is not that big so it is somewhat cozy. Since my husband and I are not a drinker so there is not much to say about the drink menu but the appetizers and entree menu are good. Crawfish etouffee is so delicious that we have to order another bowl to go. The flavor is even better than the first night we had it. I order chicken oscar was great with lump meat on the top of chicken with lemon butter sauce, yummy. My husband ordered Mahi Benville which came with creamy spinach sauce was also a hit for both of us. The desert menu has wide varieties from bread pudding to regular cheesecake. Price is not necessary cheap but reasonable. Will go again to try different menu items. The only disappointment was they did not have beignet and chicory coffee on their menu items! If you look for a great place to enjoy a delicious dinner that will be a good place for you!

Wow! Had my birthday dinner here while visiting Austin for the Formula 1 race, and wow am I glad I did. Starting with the Fried Green tomatoes with Crab meat Remoulad, Blackened redfish topped with crawfish etouffe, food was fresh, flavorful and authentic. I've spent a lot of time in the Big Easy, and the food here was better than most of the chains now prevalent in the French Quarter. Not to be missed.

The hotel I stayed at didn’t have lunch available so I walked over to the French Quarter. This place was fantastic. Great Cajun pasta although a little expensive for lunch. Will check it out again next time I’m in town.

We are from Louisiana and it is really hard to find a place in Austin that serves up good, authentic, cajun dishes. We have been 3 times now and each time it has been a great experience. Gumbo and blackened seafood has great flavor. Red Beans and Rice has a great tasting roux (google it). Wine selection could be larger, but I have had some great bottles from the current list for a moderate price. Servers were very knowledgeable, friendly, and did come by often to see how things were going. We will make this a monthly pilgrimage to get my cajun fix unless I am in New Orleans myself. Great job and keep it going.

Looking for something southern style Cajun? This place is special. The food is flavorful & the ambiance is classy. We loved sharing appetizers & a bottle of wine with our meal!

This restaurant is small but excellent food and service. I got a dish called Lake Pontchartrain and it was on of the best dishes I have ever had.

With a menu that makes me yearn for New Orleans I decided to give it a go and got it delivered. I work here in Austin temporarily and I work long hours and I don't have time to enjoy the atmosphere of New Orleans cafe. I got the fish Pontchartrain and I couldn't have been happier so delicious so good and this is on delivery. Huge piece of fish juicy crab juicy shrimp yummy sauce...I could have been in New Orleans for all I knew if I just would have closed my eyes long enough. I plan to go back to try a few more items before I leave Austin.

I had been a semi regular when they were in round rock. Great food. Great ambiance. The best people. Now that round rock closed we were forced to go into Austin. Oh my god. Ruck. People were stuck up, ambiance equal to an outhouse. We were seated 6 inches from other patrons. Never gave the food a chance. They lost my business and we lost a great restaurant RIP French quarter. You will be sorely missed in round rock.

Went to eat here for my 25th wedding anniversary. Had a fantastic dinner (blackened red fish Pontchartrain) and a great bottle of red wine. This place had great service a great food. Would highly recommend making reservations though as they fill up, especially on weekends. Richard

The Cajun seafood here is truly delicious and in good quantity. Amazing service as well. We had very little wait time. Reasonably priced for the quality.

Ate dinner here with friends. This was an A+ dining experience from start to finish. The greeter, a young lady in her early 20s, was delightfully welcoming. The server, Callin (sp?), from Louisiana, was a professional, made outstanding recommendations, and was a definite add to the dining experience. We sat toward a corner, bordered by a brick wall, which was a good thing in that it made the venue more cozy. But, table for 3 people was a bit crowded, no sure how this table would have worked for 4 (which was what it was designed for based on the booth and chairs). The owner has done a nice job with this venue, as once you enter you lose the sense that this is in shopping center row of stores. The food? Absolutely exceptional. Oysters Rockefeller, by design, had a bit of kick (just a bit), came with 12 oysters, and we seriously thought about ordering another serving, as they were so good. Two of us had the recommended special, a nice size piece of red fish with two fried shrimp on top, in some sort of jalapeno cream sauce. This dish was in the top 10 things I've eaten in the past several years. Even the squash veggies were delicious -- and I don't really enjoy squash. The dirty rice was good, I didn't find it particularly noteworthy. The other person in our party, my friend's wife, had the chicken oscar. Thumbs up on that dish! The orange creme brulee was the best creme brulee I've ever had. The tabasco cheesecake was also excellent. Our server perfectly shared that the sauce was not spicy/hot, but left a bit of tingle in the back of your throat. Nice! Tasty coffee too. Finding this place, in the corner of one strip of a rather sprawling shopping center might be a challenge for some. Don't give up, this place is great! And, the owner, at least this night, was fully engaged with serving food, taking away dishes, and chatting it up with the guests. Based on the quality, and nice portion size, I'd say this place had very fair prices. A full liquor license would be a nice addition. But, they have a decent wine list and a fair selection of beers. I had a beer-like cider which was very good. Great find for me, I'll be back!

Impressed with the " New Orleans " cuisine, authentic, DELICIOUS, and full of flavor! The service was over the top, prices were average for this type of fine dining. Perfect setting for date night, or a special occasion.

We have never had a bad meal, Chef Dave strives for perfection, have they missed something a time or two, yes but just be brave enough to say something and the staff will do backflips to make it right. To the griper that brought friends here you should have said something, to our Irish visitors same to you, but Cajun food is spicy especially if you have blackened food. They will make it right. We are loyal customers!

Perfect ambience, tasty food, nice musics - life was exceptionally good in this restaurant! Beef Oscar and trout pecan are recommended!

Fantastic food. Kallin was a great server. Blackened catfish had snappy zing. The fried shrimp étouffée was a kaleidoscope of goodness. The flavors of the fried green tomatoes more decadent. The depth of seasoning in the catfish gumbo was extraordinary. The red beans and rice were just like mama used to make.

Austin is a new travel location for me, and FQG will be a standard. The atmosphere was quiet and welcoming. The food was fantastic, the service was great and respectful, and I will be back. I wanted to have seafood, but our waitress said the Chicken Benjamin was great. She did not lie. From the first bite, the meal was amazing. The dish allowed you an amazing taste of so much; the chicken was moist, the onion crusted flavor was unique, the crawfish was delicious and added beautiful color, and the prosciutto though not crispy it did add a another layer of fabulous of flavor. My colleague was on a limited eating plan and had a beautiful shrimp salad that she enjoyed. Definitely give them a try.

Have been here a few times, food is good, service adequate. On this night with my daughter service was a bit slow. Had to flag down a manager , after we waited for 10 minutes for the wait staff to come back, to get my check.

Everything was outstanding. Fish Pontchartrain with blackened trout, shrimp, crab, crawfish and mushroom brandy cream sauce. The Ravage Cabernet very smooth. Bread pudding to finish it all off.

Okay, it's in a strip mall... Aside from that, everything else was excellent. Food was spectacular. Wine options were good. Staff do an excellent job. Well worth it!

Came here with a few people I work with, service was great and food was very good. Literally no complaints. The beignets were fire and the catfish was decent.

Two for dinner and close to the hotel. And very good. May take a few passes to find the place - in a small building surrounded by other stores, food places and big box stores. But for good cajun - I will circle the parking lot as much as I have to. Nice selection of dishes, wish I did not have to choose just one dish. Catfish Etouffee for me, Andouille for dinner partner. Good size portions with all the sides - dirty rice and succotash. More then enough linguine in the andouille. Looked like a really good dessert menu, just didn't need the extra calories. Friendly and helpful service, prompt and attentive. It may look like a basic storefront bistro - it's not. Make sure you find it

This is our new favorite. They have great gumbos. I also enjoy the tilapia almandine. Yum! And of course I cannot forget to mention the to die for bread pudding. If you like Cajun, you will love this place.

From the moment I walked in the door we were genuinely welcomed and taken care of. The food was underpriced for the quality and service. If I'm in Austin again I will certainly be back.

We came here by chance because it was close to our hotel. What a find! They asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, and was able to fit us in due to someone else being a no-show. Greeter was not particularly welcoming, however, the wait staff were excellent. The description of the evening special dinner convinced us to try it: spinach and artichoke stuffed salmon with a crust. It did not disappoint. We also had the etoufee crab soup and gumbo shrimp soup, along with a salmon salad. Next time we are in Austin we will definitely go again. Not cheap.

This amazing restaurant is in a strip mall. The service is impeccable, the food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. I started with the gumbo and it was delicious, then I had the crawfish etouffee, Oh MY! I thought I was in downtown New Orleans. You need to go to this restaurant.

The smaller interior/ambiance, service and delicious food made for a memorable business dinner. Having fewer tables creates a more private dining experience. The service was spot on as the wait staff was always ahead of what was needed. The food, seasoning and spices were simply well thought out and designed. Would go back given the amount of options on the menu.

This restaurant is tucked in a shopping center off I35 near Parmer Ln. The service was very good. The food delicious. I had the Pecan Trout and the Wedge salad. Both were fresh. We decided to try one of the homemade, in house cheesecakes. We settled on the blueberry cheesecake. Very nice. They serve beer/ wine. No bartender. We will go back to try new dishes. They also have lunch during the week.

This really is some of the better gumbo I have had in Austin. The portion size was great and the only thing I don't like about the place is the fact it's closed on Sundays. Which is good for them but bad for my Sunday gumbo cravings.

Hidden is a strip mall in the Walmart parking lot across fro the garden center. The food is tremendous. Small and intimate setting, don't let the location fool you. I try to visit it each time I am in Austin, about 4-6 times a year.

Such a great experience! We went to French Quarter Grille months ago and I still have vivid memories of our dinner. My dish was perfect and the rest of my party was delighted with their meal. All was fresh and flavorful! Nice ambiance and friendly staff. I look forward to the next time!

We have come here for a couple years now..and loved it. We decided to share the experience with a very special couple of friends from out of town. We have always had wonderful food..but this trip was failure food. We were so embarrassed since we had changed our venue the day before their arrival. We had a new (to us) waitress and she kept calling us "Hon"..and Honey..all night. It was annoying since we were all over the age of 60. We are all from Texas..but at a fine restaurant, it was misplaced. We ordered a Fried Green tomato appetizer to share since we were going to eat well for our entrees..It came out mushy, sour tasting, and oozing with goop. No one wanted the last tomato that is how awful. The husbands ordered Pork..and Fish..and they looked and tasted wonderful. They have amazing steaks so I suggested one to my friend since she didn't care for fish. We ordered them Medium..and another medium well.."Pink" inside...They came out black! Crusty black..tough..and dark in the center..they had to have forgotten them..but, why not cook another two..but we didn't say a word. I didn't trust them with our plates if they were willing to bring them out like that. We had wine with the dinner! The best of the meal ..no desserts...and the bill was $280. (tip included)...It was an embarrassment for us..but we made the most of it..and will NOT be going back..

My husband and I had the day off together and wanted lunch. We love French Quarter Grille so this was a no brainer! I had the jumbo grilled shrimp that came with the veg of the day cabbage. Let me tell you, you might say, "I don't like cabbage" like I did but give it a try. They sautee it so its still cruncy! It has so much flavor that you will be glad to eat your veggies!! Mash potatoes of the day were....BACON CHEDDAR!! Nuff said!! The shrimp were grilled so perfectly and very fresh. My fav dish there. So my husband went for the special. An open faced sandwich similar to a Cordon Blue. Blackened chicken on top of creole tomato sauce topped with swiss cheese and proscuitto ham! I dipped my shrimp in the creole sauce! YUM! THis is one of our favorite places. Not only is the food awesome, but the service is also very attentive but not smothering. Very nice folks there! Very clean and cozy restaurant. They are doing things right. Great food, great service.

The restaurant is located in a shopping center and you would not expect to find such good food but it is a real treat. I was visiting from out of town and ate there twice and both experiences were great. The food is great. I felt like I was in New Orleans. Not too spicy, just right. And a pretty wide range of entrees on the menu. The wine list is limited but satisfactory. The place does fill up, reservations are probably not a bad idea. I hope to come to Austin again on business so I can eat here!

I ate here last week and had a reservation for 8, but we ended up having 10 people. The restaurant immediately accommodated us and added extra seats to the table. Also, our lunch was served fast; we were in and out in 45 minutes. Great service. I had the tuna salad which was ok, but the rest of my group really liked their food. Next time, I will stick with a cajun dish.

We visited the I-35 restaurant for the first time for dinner to celebrate a special occasion. I made a dinner reservation the day before. There were 4 of us altogether: 3 adults and 1 teen. My husband had eaten here before with work associates for lunch -and recommended that we give it a try. Since this was MY first time eating here, I was eager to try one of their staple dishes - the gumbo. I ordered the chicken and sausauge gumbo and liked it a lot. It was very flavorful and not spicy - I suppose anyone who wishes to have more heat can request extra red pepper. My youngest (teen) enjoyed his grilled shrimp dish with dirty rice & green beans. My oldest son tried the steak Oscar and ate everything. My husband had an etoufee dish and liked his too. Desserts were great: chocolate crème brulee, cheesecake (fluffy), and bread pudding (yummy!) We would definitely come back here again.

Good food and great service her on more than one occasion. Many fish dishes with a cajun flair. Most meals include crawfish or shrimp.

I took my adults kids there for an early lunch. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer for starters. It was lightly breaded/fried and topped with a cold mix of crab meat remoulade. My son tried a bowl of the etoufee, it was very soupy and he didn't care for it much. But once he added a 2nd helping of white rice he liked it better. He also ordered a shrimp po boy and said it was tasty. My daughter ordered a bowl of gumbo- it was HUGE. Too large for her so she took most of it home. I had the shrimp creole- it had huge shrimp and a tasty (but not spicey) chunky tomato sauce with white rice. We split a croissant bread pudding for dessert. It was ok. For e just too bland and textureless. A nice touch was my Arnold Palmer drink came with a small jug of lemonade so I could flag down the iced tea server and make my own. An odd touch was all our left overs were removed and the server brought them back later packaged up. It wasn't an issue for me but both adult kids didn't like that. There were just a few tables with people but the service was very slow. When the place filled up it became almost non existent.

We had dinner with friends Saturday evening (10-20-18) and found this beautiful little restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. I had the Grilled Ribeye topped with mushrooms and caramelized onions, asparagus and mashed potatoes and it was the most delicious meal I have had in a while. Our server, Sheridan, was very attentive to our table and very pleasant. The manager, Scott, took the time to come to our table to make sure everything was perfect. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant! Amy D.

We were worried our kids wouldn't enjoy the food as much as my wife and I were hoping we would. We started to leave after waiting and looking through the menu (not because of time but kid food choices; picky kids). The manger came out to us in the parking lot with a great attitude and assured us the kids would love the kids menu. Right off the bat the servers were attentive and prompt. Never had a wait for refills. Friendly serve and super helpful to all questions asked. Then the food came. Wow! Just wow! We loved it. Kids stayed to kid food (Alfredo). Wife had a super awesome French Quarter Salmon with Seafood Gumbo as an appetizer. I had Catfish Étouffée. Soooo good on both sides of the table. Glad we stopped in for dinner.

My husband and I were thrilled when we heard that two people who go back a long way with Mike and Yoli, the founders of Gumbo's and later Mama Roux, were opening a new Cajun-cuisine restaurant in the former Mama Roux location. We ate there on their first Saturday dinner service and only their fifth day of operation, and were impressed. Scott and Dave, the owners (Dave is the head chef) made subtle changes to the decor, from adding a nice awning outside, to painting the walls and adding drapes to the interior, as well as opening up the dining space. It's a touch more elegant than Mama Roux was. And two of our favorite waiters from Mama Roux were back -- Noah and Renee. It was great to see their smiling faces. And the menu ... well, our fondest hopes were realized -- just as with Mama Roux, the menu is inspired, the portions are large, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. It was hard to decide on what to order. We were able to sample a fabulous appetizer which is still being tweaked by the incredibly talented sous chef, J.D., but it was so good and so unique that we'll definitely order it if it's offered next time we dine. It doesn't have a name yet but is a quiche-like concoction with crawfish, Andouille sausage, eggs, cream cheese and other yummy ingredients, with a Tasso creole cream sauce and roasted red bell pepper puree. Wow. We shared a cup of the seafood gumbo, and it was delicious. Just the right amount of heat. We both ordered the house salad, which was nice and fresh, and the homemade parmesan vinaigrette was great. I ordered the French Quarter salmon, which was a creative and unique dish of salmon topped with crabmeat, diced fresh tomatoes, and a layer of basil pesto drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Delicious. My husband ordered the fried shrimp, which he liked. Entrees come with two sides. I appreciated that Scott and Dave kept the Mama Roux practice of offering glasses of house wine for $5 -- what other restaurant does that? I'm a cheapskate and won't pay $8 or more for a glass of wine, so I had a nice glass of the house chardonnay. By this time we weren't sure if we could walk out the door or they'd have to roll us out, so unfortunately we couldn't try the fabulous sounding desserts -- next time we will save room for the orange-infused creme brulee. Some of the Mama Roux and Gumbo's regulars (when Gumbo's was owned and operated by Mike and Yoli) might wonder if it feels strange to eat similar cuisine in their old space. We were regulars at Gumbo's all the way back to when it was in Wells Branch and had followed Mike and Yoli at all of their restaurants, and we were regulars at Mama Roux. For those of you who were also, I can say that for us it was almost like a tribute to them. I think they will be smiling down on this wonderful new restaurant, owned and operated by people who knew and appreciated them. Best of luck to French Quarter Grille -- we will be regulars!

Ya know – there are a lot of good restaurants in Austin and we have certain favs for special occasions versus everyday sustenance, but folks should be aware of a ‘tweener – not too expensive, but terribly good Louisiana cuisine. I shouldn’t even classify it as Louisiana cuisine, and thereby pigeon hole it as a certain type, as it satisfies a broader need, ergo, a really good menu at a non-outlandish price point, but with some pricy flavor levels. Yes for those frequent, or infrequent N’Orleans visitors, or East Texas ex-pats, or any other classifications of gumbo enthusiasts, it does satisfy that niche of food crave, but it is more. Beyond the crawdads, the roux, and or the okra, it simply satisfies – well conceived and performed recipes that just hit the spot. Flavor, filling, sumptuous, and ahhhhh. Misty is an excellent bartender btw, for that “other” niche fulfillment, and Scott, the head honcho and story teller has all the interesting background to this really very necessary stop. A night after soaking in another fav, Uchiko (or could have easily been BarleySwine, for the special occasion) the urge for gumbo and a good cocktail hit – bingo – “French Quarter”, yes. So glad we did. The food was excellent – appetizers – calamari, and shrimp yolli, and Gumbo for dessert, LOL. The calamari is not the puny onion ring style so often found locally, but more the west coast “thick” squid meat that is oh so tender and oh so flavorful. The shrimp yolli, I highly recommend, is seasoned grilled shrimp with slices of equally seasoned and grilled bread in a base sauce that is at best described as an original, creamy, spicy, delectable sauce that defies you to soak the bread in and gobble up, as well as a truly matched in heaven shrimp dip. Objectivity out the window, I do not kid, I would be surprised to have anyone not agree. Gumbo anyone ? Would you believe that a cup is huge and a bowl you can almost bathe in ? After the appetizers, we went for cups, and that was plenty. A rich roux broth with typical gumbo veggies can be supplemented with your choice of meat – chicken and sausage, seafood, shrimp, crawfish, crab, etc., or your choice of some combination of most of those. We went for andouille sausage, crawfish, and crab and simply reveled in it. Yumm. A touch of tobasco and I was home free ! I won’t even mention the fresh bread roll and herb butter for dipping. Ewwww weee, I guarantee. Hits the spot ! We heartily recommend. Do it if you have any sense. You won’t regret it. Oh, and we had too much to eat this time to also order an entrée, but please know that their redfish ponchartrain is to die for also. Cheers. Hope this helps.

Truly a hidden gem. The restaurant is in a strip mall near the large Walmart at IH35 and Parmer Lane. I was suprised to find a place this good and locally owned in the area. We had a reservation but there were already at least 10 people waiting for them to open at 5pm on a Saturday. The menu has a variety of choices but we opted for a half portion appetizer of the calamari and the fried green tomatoes with crab. Both were fantastic. Good sized portion even for a half order and the price for each was around $10 each. That is a great value. For an entree, we each had a bowl of crawfish etoufee. The bowl size was more than enough than a meal for me and there was plenty left to take home to eat later. Each dish was excellent and the prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. The crawfish etouffe was only $14.95. Very reasonable. Our waiter was very friendly and attentative. We were too full to try dessert but they had a number of choices that all sounded delicious. Pleasant atmosphere and I place I will surely return to one day. I just wish they were open for lunch on Saturday. Highly recommended.

Amazing - we used to go here when it was under different ownership. New owners, still excellent menu and quality. Redfish Ponchartrain with shrimp and crawfish on top. Ending with housemade chocolate cheesecake.

Opportunity to visit Austin and saw this place. Found it closed on Monday, but Tuesday it was open and well worth the second day. I did the lamb chops and they were paired with an excellent side dish. It is nice to be able to sit quietly and see the chef's prepare your meal over the divider.

Very busy but food is excellent. We were staying overnight in Austin on way to San Antonio and tried it because of good reviews on both Trip Advisor and Yelp. In a strip mall by a Wal Mart but close to expressway. Worth venturing out of the 6th street district to try.Great seafood!

We recently ate there both Friday and Saturday nites. The food is off the chart. Our waitress on Saturday was Kalyn?. Not sure how to spell her name but sounded like: Cal-Lynn. Her service is a "10" and she is really easy to look at. Great wine selection and the servings are very generous.

A few years ago we dined at the French Quarter Grille often - but as it often happens for no good reason we had not been in a couple of years. We soon remembered why we loved it so. The service is impeccable. Even though our busboy was in training he did a very polite and most effective way of always making sure we had plenty of water and plates cleared when necessary. Our waitress was very good with suggestions and recommendations. We were warned about portion sizes and were so glad we followed her advice. (But still had take home) They blacken any of six fish filets and have several sauces to choose from. We had the catfish with gumbo and etetufee. Both were excellent.

A Little hidden gem. Beautiful decor, great food, large portions. Didn't expect to find such a great place in round rock!

Authentic Cajun cooking, my favorite cuisine, and the French Quarter Grille makes you think you're in the "Kwatah". I had the Mahi Ponchatrain, a nicely cooked piece of Mahi-Mahi, topped with shrimp, crab , and crawfish and it was outstanding! The lump crab étouffée was delicious, too. Save room for the bread pudding and you'll be glad you did.

We read some very positive reviews about this restaurant, which is in a shopping strip next to the freeway. The food and service were excellent and it lived up to the expectations set by previous reviews.

I frequent French Quarter Grille often. Why? Because the food is awesome, the staff super friendly and the quality of the food is there every time i go. A real treat!

I have been going to French Quarter Grille for several years when it was called Mama Roux. Service is always attentive, professional and Texas friendly. As for the cuisine, gumbo is a must try. Dark, thick, delicious with lots of ingredients. Crawfish beignets are simply scrumptious. Fried shrimps are big and nicely prepared. Cajun styled fish and seafood dish is also excellent. You will be surprised. :)

Good and wonderful place. Very good Gumbo. Especially, seafood gumbo with the shrimp, craw fish, and white fish. Do not eat Bowl if you want to have other delicious foods.

Shame they closed the RR location, food doesn't appear to be as good and ambiance has gone. Food is ok, prices are reasonable just doesn't hit the spot as before. Not many quality Cajun food places in area so even with the downside it's still worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our dinner. Our server was attentive but not to the point of being obnoxious. We had their steak special--beef Wellington with shrimp, jalapeno mashed potatoes and red wine/mushroom sauce and shrimp and crab salad. Both were delicious and executed to perfection. I did not care too much for the butter served with bread before meal, but that was no big deal. I only had a minor complaint about their steak knives--big, clunky and dull. But I guess the only reason why I noticed is that I have very nice steak knives at home.

In town for work, and was looking for something close but not a chain. I was pleased to hear they would accept phone orders. When I got to the restaurant, I was disappointed that I chose carry-out! Darling location, very charming. I had ordered the blackened chicken pesto, and it was divine! The special of the day (viewable when you walk in) looked amazing too. Next time- I will be eating there.

Second time here. Gumbo has good dark roux, not burnt. I had the chicken and andouille gumbo. the trout was very good. NIce atmosphere and not to loud. For dessert, had the bread pudding, which I will try if it is on the menu. Not too sweet and not the bourbon sauce, chocolate instead. I favored it. The staff was courteous and helpful. Will be back when I travel to Austin for work.

We went for dinner and lunch the next day. Liked the day service more than the evening service but the food and prices were great.

Oh, so goooooood. Small and intimate. Service is excellent, with a well rounded wine list.

Twice in our lives we couldn't stop eating the fish it was so good. The first time was in Galway, Ireland where they caught the salmon from the river in the back, the other time was here. The fish is amazing. FRESH, and wonderfully prepared. Wife had the trout pecan, I had the blackened trout pontchartrain, both were off the charts delicious. Both dishes were under $20 and the portions were large. You could tell our waitress Ruth meant it when she said she is proud to serve everything on the menu, and she was right. Appetizers and desserts are amazing too. BIG portions. Wish they were in Dallas!

Food was really good! Restaurant packed it well so cold was cold and warm was warm! Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice both were perfect!! Wedge Salad was really good! All notes through GrubHub were accommodated!

Great food ! I have never been to NO,but this places makes me want to go bad!! Everything here is good!!

The catfish gumbo and blackened red fish are amazing taste treats. The bistro style atmosphere is nicely done. The wait staff and service are top notch. Highly recommend reservations for Friday & Saturday nights.

Our seafood selections were very good. Server friendly and attentive. Had a few specials on select bottles of wine so that was a nice savings. We'll definitely be back.

I have been to this restaurant several times when visiting my son's family in Austin. The service is great, and the food is authentic New Orleans dishes. I always have the same thing when I go, the Trout Pecan. It is scrumptious and huge. I split it with my daughter-in-law. My son always orders a bowl of seafood gumbo. Again it is huge. If you are looking for delicious food and excellent service, try the French Quarter Grille!

I ordered fish pontchartrain and it was just ok. Not enough shrimp on top and I didn't really care for the sauce on it. My son loved his pasta though and I preferred it over my fish. The wait staff not so friendly.

ambiance is not romantic but food is good. they want me to type 100 words. So I'm going to keep typing until I reach the right number of words

Excellent Service & food. Great Cajun favors & fresh ingredients. The fresh fish entries are best. The sauces are amazing. The “seafood” sauce selections are a great extra. Small & cozy. Call ahead is best.

Check out this new Round Rock restaurant! The shrimp are delicate and not overcooked and rubbery, the seafood gumbo is seasoned just right, the crawfish gumbo-yum, all reasonably priced and authentic without driving all the way to Louisiana. This new restaurant deserves a stop. Just delicious! I was not as crazy about their Oysters Rockefeller so I'd skip that offering. They also have a patio for the nice Round Rock weather.

I went there during a business trip because of the good reviews I read about it. The experience was good overall, however I developed severe stomach pain as soon as I left there. It is 72 hours and counting, and I still have stomach pain and I need to see a doctor tomorrow. And, I do not have any allergies or other issues to seafood, I eat seafood fairly regularly at our city.

Gone for the weekend. We traveled to Austin for the premiere of the latest production of Jesus Christ Super Star! But first dinner as we arrived Friday night. Near our hotel the bestest place to eat is this little neighborhood place called French Quarter Grille less than a mile from our hotel. As always we couldn’t decide what to eat. I started with a garden salad with a homemade garden vinaigrette and my Honey had the standard Caesar salad and shrimp gumbo. For our main meal, like always we compromised on the main entree, I wanted the chicken Oscar and Honey wanted the trout Oscar. So we settled on the trout Oscar. Delicious to say the least. For dessert there was no comprising this evening. Bread pudding made with a freshly baked croissant topped with French vanilla ice cream drizzled with a caramel rum topping. NO stinking raisins in this delicious dessert. Stay hungry amigos. El Gordo!

Very good food, excellent service. If you have the chance to get the appetizer special - crawfish cheesecake - be sure to try it, you won't be disappointed. From the fresh bread rolls with garlic butter to the delicious entrees complete with garnish and presentation, everyone enjoyed their entree and we left stuffed. Only downside to mentions was that their caesar salad was a bit bland. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, easy to have a pleasant conversation. They are open for lunch and dinner, but not mid-afternoon between 2-5pm. Their dining area is rather small, so reservations are recommended for weekend dinners. Prices start around $8 for appetizers and entrees range from $15 to $35 - pricier than your typical chain family restaurant but sooo much better.

Friends recommended that we meet at this restaurant for dinner on a recent Saturday night. We (group of 4) arrived at 7:30 pm, and were told that there was a wait of approximately 45 minutes, which it was. Seated at a cozy table with banquette seating, the brick interior walls and white linens with fresh flowers and candle on each table made for a night dinner environment. A very nice wine list (try Troublemaker - a combo red). Server was friendly and attentive, but not overly so. Made several recommendations of items, and was very knowledgeable of ingredients and the manner in which they were prepared. Appetizers we had included fried green tomatoes that were topped with a sinful amount of fresh crabmeat. These are one of our personal favorite dishes, and we try them wherever we go. This appetizer was one of the best we've had, even during our recent visit to Charleston. Five nice slices on the plate ensured everyone in our group had a nice tasting. Another appetizer was not on the menu, but our waitress recommended the crawfish cheesecake. Now, I'm not a crawfish fan, but this was amazing! Spicy, but not too much so, and served with perfectly toasted thin slices of bread. The cheesecake portion is comprised mainly of cream cheese, rich to be sure, but oh so worth it. Our entrees included a perfectly cooked filet mignon with crawfish etoufee on top, and pecan crusted trout that was butterflied and cooked to perfection - flaky and so mild. The "mash of the day" had jalapenos, cream cheese and grilled onions - yum - and daily side was grilled squash. We dined/visited for more than two hours, but were not rushed at all. Several times we apologized and offered to wrap it up and head out, and we were encouraged to stay and take our time. Nice! A great find, and would definitely recommend this to all. Enjoy!

We went to the French Quarter Grille with absolutely no preconceived notions about what to expect. It was a Saturday evening at about 7pm and with no reservation we only had about a 20 minute wait, which is never a bad thing. I have to say we received excellent service from the time we entered until we left, which is always greatly appreciated but frankly not always experienced when dining. I ordered the Fish Ponchartrain (Mahi Mahi) which was just outstanding. My son had the Salmon Ponchartrain and my wife had the Trout Pecan. All were cooked to perfection. Our waitress told us that one of the owners was a pastry chef so we had high hopes for the deserts and we weren’t disappointed. We all shared the Orange Creme Brûlée, the Bread Pudding and the Key Lime Pie, which were all made with the chefs own unique twist. We were visitors for the first time to the Austin area, but would be regulars if we lived in the area.

We went to French Quarter for the 1st time because we had a coupon. But the food here is worth paying full price! Since then, we have returned at least once a month to enjoy the gumbo, ettoufee, pecan trout, and my husband's favorite, the fish Ponchitrain -- which has a wonderful sauce of brandy, roué, mushrooms, and crawfish. We even have a friend that drives from Abilene just to eat here. My husband swears the gumbo is as good as his friend Creola used to make when he was a kid in east Texas.

Recently I and a friend took in the Cajun charm of the French Quarter Grille. This was our third time there. They are hands down one of the best places in the area for REAL Cajun fare. From catfish, to crawfish this place has it covered. The Crawfish Beignet are scrumptious!, and one of their best sellers. The fish selections are always fresh and flavorful. Be sure to review the Chef's Special on the board as you come it. The atmosphere is charming and elegant. The waitstaff are knowledgeable and superb. If you are planning on going on a weekend or holiday, I suggest making reservations. Any way you want they have it, fried, grilled, or sauteed. I highly recommend the French Quarter Grille. I am sure you will also!

Make a reservation—you will need one, this place is that good! Tucked away in a strip mall, it’s worth hunting down. The crawfish beignets were a hot, delicious way to start; the gumbo was outstanding, with deep flavor and flavorful seafood; the orange creme brûlée was a great ending to a terrific business lunch!

Looking for an alternative this evening and discovered this via strong reviews. A great experience - very engaged staff, a wonderful meal and a nice atmosphere. The interior is very well done. If I were to be in the area again I would go out of my way to return.

A great Cajun menu with a wonderful staff. I visit this place regularly with clients. The staff, chef and management are all available and involved with customers, the catfish Yolie and salmon salad are client favorites. There is also an affordable variety of wines available. Enjoy!

I don't eat Cajun food too often. But, I think this restaurant represented the style quite well. The gumbo was my favorite.

I'm still telling family/friends about the blackened rib eye, dirty rice, and the best brussel sprouts ever. The steak was tender enough to cut with a butter knife. You have got to try this. The shrimp, sausage, and crawfish pasta was outstanding. The turtle cheese cake was fantastic. Can't wait to go back again.

Went for dinner on advice of friend In a strip mall Bit hard to find Great service and food I had fish ponchatrain with tilipia with crawfish shrimp vegetables and dirty rice Surberb No room for dessert but I understand it also is great We went at 6pm and got seated immediately When we left at 7pm there was a wait Go and tell a friend It's great

The food is wonderful. The French Grille was such a lovely surprise. Because it is in a strip mall next to WalMart we were expecting a hole in the wall and got a real restaurant with white table clothes. Our party was three adults and one child and we all had something different, all good. I had the special of the day which was a pecan crusted pork chop, my daughter had red beans and rice and my husband trout something. We enjoyed all of it and exchanged bites with each other. The waitress was not quite up to par for the restaurant, but the cooks/chefs certainly were. We will go back again when we are in north Austin.

Last night my husband and I had the most amazing dinner. My husband had a super delicious gumbo. Actually they’re different ways you can have the gumbo and that is something I have never had even when I’ve been to New Orleans. My husband had the special which was a filet that was very tasty with a cognac sauce. I had a red fish.It was so fresh like you were just visiting that day from the ocean The shrimp and crawfish in the special sauce was excellent We had both worked a very long hard day for 12 hours and when we entered the restaurant it was as if we had entered New Orleans the whole time in the restaurant Thank you This is an old fashion family owned Restaurant where you actually meet the owner.

I dined at the French Quarter Grille in early June, while visiting Austin for the first time. The eatery was highly recommended by a member of our hotel staff. I was not sure what to expect of a French eatery in the middle of Austin, Texas, but I have to tell you we were blown away!!! We were served by Kallin and had the pleasure to be seated next to Scott - the owner of the restaurant!!! The entire evening was a delight. Kallin was lovely and quite helpful with helping us pick from a menu where EVERYTHING sounded delish. I settled on the Chicken Oscar and swapped out the chicken for Trout. It was extremely good. If Scott ever expands to the Northern VA area, I am so there!!!!! Don't not miss this place when you are in Austin. And try the Tabasco cheesecake. It sounds weird, but tastes lovely. I'm getting hungry as I write this and remember my meal!!!

We found the French Quarter Grille via google (not Yelp) and I'm so glad I gave google a shot at the search because the cajun food in this restaurant was the best I have ever had outside of New Orleans. All any of the three of us could say was "WOW". I had the blackened catfish gumbo with crawfish and andouille sausage added. That was poured over brown rice, and OMG it was so good! This will be our regular stop every time we visit Austin from now on.

You will not be disappointed in the Gumbo. I GUARANTEE! It is a bit pricy, but so are the finer things in life. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like Cajun food with a flair.

We walked over for dinner. Even though we did not order much we were treated with respect. We eat out every night while traveling and just don't want a lot. We were both impressed with our meal. The catfish gumbo was excellent served with dirty rice, vegetable and topped with shrimp and crawfish. The lady who seated us was especially good at her job and the lady who delivered our bread and butter, which was delicious! The shrimp etouffee was very good. Our server was also efficient and helpful. We may return tomorrow night.

The meal was average but the setting and service more than made up for what I could have gotten at other Cajun/Creole restaurants. Vistied based on recommendation from friend.

Pros: excellent customer service, excellent quality (fresh), consistent, variety (seafood, steak, chicken), relaxed atmosphere, ample parking, easy location Cons: lately I’ve had a lot of shells on my shrimp, odd hours, expensive

While the wait staff were friendly and efficient, the entree prices and taste were average at best. Rather than go for a full $15-$18 entree I decided to try their fried calamari and house salad. The calamari was long strips of fried squid, not the young squid that includes tentacles, like a real Greek style that I prefer. The salad was fresh and house dressing pretty darn good. The sweet tea was good but not spectacular. Appeared to be a popular lunch spot for business folks. It might be interesting to try a full entree, but I’ll leave that to you.

The restaurant was recommended by Roland from Springhill Suites off of Palmer. We arrived about 6 and we were seated fairly quickly. total of seven in our party. I would suggest making a reservation due to the size of the restaurant. Lynn greeted us as soon as we walked in the restaurant and began taking care of our needs. Lynn made sure we were accommodated. She was Very nice. Shared menu option while waiting to be seated. Kallin was our waitress and she was lovely. Ask for Kallin. she has a great personality. We were celebrating 2 birthdays. Everyone loved their food selection. Dessert was good. Key lime pie and bread pudding

The service and food here is very good. I especially like and highly recommend the calamari and fried green tomato - both are like no other. I had to go with 4 stars instead of 5 because they weren't able to get the rib-eye right - medium rare, tried twice and both times came out medium to well-done.

Had dinner with colleagues at this little gem. We did have to wait quite a while (an hour) on a Wednesday evening after being told by our nearby hotel that a reservation would not be needed, so maybe think about calling ahead. The menu is reflective of Louisiana, with lots of seafood, crawfish, crab, and shrimp dishes to choose from. I had a house salad (4.95), which was piled with veggies, and the shrimp and crawfish pasta in brandy cream sauce (14.95). I ate about half of the pasta and was sad I couldn't take the leftovers as I was traveling for work. Will definitely go back if I am in the area again!

Enjoyed having dinner here. The food was good but not great. The stuffed catfish was good but the stuffing did not have enough crawfish....too much filler. The crab and shrimp salad was very good. Portions were good and the service friendly.

This was our second time to eat here, and it did not disappoint on the food. We started with escargot for an appetizer, which was delicious. Then, we ordered a wedge salad to share, which was tasty. Our entrees were Pork Tenderloin and Redfish with crab. Both were cooked to perfection. We do have a couple of suggestions: set the thermostat at a comfortable setting; it was so cold that every customer was wearing jackets or sweaters while dining. Second, get more waiters/ staff for weekends. Our waiter was so harried, she forgot half of the food she was to bring us. For example, try eating escargot without bread to sop up the oil! We will go back, probably, but the management needs to do better on staffing, given the prices they are charging. You are paying downtown Austin pricing, with less flair and acumen.

I ordered the Catfish Yoli and it was great! Fish was nicely seasoned along with the creamy sauce. I will definitely be back!!!

I can't say enough about the food the service from start to finish it was a tremendous night out with a rather large team from work. I would return in heartbeat. If you haven't tried it you definitely must. Given it was a such a large crowd so much of the menu was ordered from appetizers dinners to desserts. The blackened tuna and blackened salmon or excellent. The gumbo was out of this world. Dessert were all a huge hit. Thank you to the staff...Lynne, Brooke, everyone was fantastic.

Went to FQG last night celebrating retirement of a family member. We had not been to FQG in a while but it will not be long before a return trip. Forgot how wonderful the food is. Scott is a great host/owner. He helped us with some bubbly not on the regular menu to start the evening. Brooke handled our somewhat rowdy group (and another large table nearby) with ease. We had a range of dishes including their pork tenderloin, salmon with prosciutto, red fish and fish ponchartrain. Every dish was prepared wonderfully and tasted great. As a bonus, the wine we selected was priced just 20% above local retail, not the 100%+ markup you find at most restaurants. We will be back.

Absolutely fabulous dining experience. Went on a stormy night which allowed us to be waited on slowly, effectively, and with a specialness you don't find much anymore. The food was wonderfully presented, spot on flavors, and the orange creme brulee was the best I've ever had. Please patronize this small restaurant. It's in a small strip mall, has a non-descript exterior but the inside will transport you to the sidewalks of New Orleans for a flavor fest. I would return in a heartbeat.

We were in Austin for the weekend and wanted a nice meal. Austin has so many great restaurants that we try to go to local restaraunts when we visit. This was one of the best restaraunts I' ve ever been to. The food was simply delicious! We had the crawfish beignets, Steak Ponchatrain, Tilapia ettouffee and the best bread pudding that I've ever had. The wait was long on a saturday night but it was worth the wait! I will definitley go back again and again. Also, the service was great.

This place is easy to miss. It is a little unassuming store front tucked into a strip mall by a Walmart. I was expecting something a little more fast foodish, but this is a really nice sit down restraunt. Food was great, service was great and the ambiance was great. Not cheap, dinner for two with a shared appatzer and desert was about 75. Worth every penny. We will be eating there again for sure.

We had a large group of executives in town from New England and have just about burned them out on Texas BBQ. They always love where we take them, but always want to go to a different restaurant each time they are here ... our executive admin suggested Cajun and has been to the French Quarter Grille a number of times, so that was our dinner destination. We had a group of about 16-18 people, week night, Tuesday, and we had excellent service even for that large of a group. I do not believe they had any beer on tap, but they offered a very nice and wide selection of Louisiana brewery craft beers and the waitress was knowledgeable of each including properties, tastes, etc and a few domestic beers. Served from the bottle into a frosty glass, nice touch! They had a nice selection for wine for those wanting that before and with their meals. The Admin ordered a variety of appetizers of fried Crawfish, Crawfish Beignets and fried Calamari that we passed around the table for everyone to try. These were all great but I have to tip my hat to the Calamari as it was the best of any I have ever had! on to the main coarse, I had teh Catfish Gumbo, which was a very nice sized filet of catfish, blackened over a bed of dirty rice, then covered with the crawfish gumbo. The fish was cooked perfectly, had a nice seasoning with only a little bite (pepper) and mixing it with the dirty rice and gumbo made it quite a nice meal. I also got a side of the red beans & rice as my side dish and it was also great, some of the best I have ever had. There was a variety of other main course dishes around the table that all looked wonderful including very nice sized dinner salads (one had the blackened Salmon salad) for the more health conscience. All of the people raved over whatever they had and it all looked amazing!!! moving on to desserts ... Again, the Admin ordered a variety to share and a few actually ordered their own sweet delights (they shared too, a little ... HA!). Although I am not a big desserts type person, I had to try a few of these that were passed around. Croissant Bread Pudding, yeah, I know, bread pudding but this was excellent (as far as bread puddings go). I must admit, I am not much of a chocolate person either, but the chocolate raspberry creme brulee was very good (to much chocolate for me) that most gave great comments. The traditional Cheesecake with strawberries was outstanding. But my favorite was the Orange Creme Brulee, Oh My Goodness is about the best way to describe it, smooth, creamy, delicious!!! I am not sure if it was one of the owners or the manager, but he was very attentive and came by a number of times to see how everything was. Our waitress was definitely on her A game and did an outstanding job of taking care of the entire group. The majority of the evening dinner entrees are in the $15-20 range with a few in the $20-35 range for more specialty items. I would definitely recommend for a quiet romantic setting, business get together, friends and small group gatherings. I believe the prices are very affordable for the quantity and especially the quality of the appetizers, entrees and desserts. Everything was spot on in my book but our crew might have been a bit noisy for the other patrons (my apologies!) there with us. Very well done Dave & Scott (owners)!!!

Try the blackened salmon salad with the basil vinaigrette, it was outstanding! The salmon was a very big portion, and the salad greens very fresh. The wines by the glass list was limited, and pricey.

We took our son and his girlfriend on 1/28/23. This place is fabulous. Every bite from appetizers to dessert was perfect. Lovely space, wonderful service. Thank you, Brittany! I did not expect this from a place in a strip center in far north Austin, but there it is. Bar is kickass also, and you can find a good wine on the list.

We have been many times both for lunch and dinner and always enjoy. This last time was no exception. I do not like crawfish but my husband loves it, they allowed him to order a small side with his meal. I decided to try a few to see if my tastebuds had changed, they have not however I will say they were tasty if you like crawfish, they were fried and the batter was so yummy served with remoulade sauce that paired so well together. I ordered the French Quarter Salmon, and I don't usually like salmon at a restaurant but I decided to take a chance and so glad I did, it was delicious and the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection, I had red beans & rice for the side, it was not my favorite too rich for my personal preference. My husband ordered Fish Ponchartrain he had it with Red Fish, he very much enjoyed it and said it was exactly what his taste buds were asking for. For desert we had the bread pudding, hands down the best and you must have it! Service was terrific and the ambiance was very nice as well!

I enjoyed my night (alone alas!) dining at the FQG, where I had my first blackened catfish in the Lake Pontchartrain dish- very tasty! The appetizer wedge salad was very nicely done with blue crumbles and a reduction base. Accompanied by a fine wine. The is a great little restaurant whose exterior belies its excellent cuisine. I very much appreciated the classy service- no "Hi, I'm Emily and I'm your server" or smiley faces on the bill. Just good, fast and polite understated (as it should be) service.

Four of us dined on Mar. 05, 2015. The birthday boy had been there before, and recommended this restaurant. The other 3 were newbies. When walking in, I was impressed. For a strip mall restaurant, the place looked like it should have been a stand-alone building! Beautiful decor, tables were not real close together, and were we greeted by a host how was full of smiles, and dining questions. Asking if we had been before, and discussing the drink options. Each of us had something different so we can sample. I had salmon, wrapped in prosciutto, in a wonderful creamy sauce. Another had the trout, with crushed pecans, again in a great sauce. The others had pasta dishes, either with crawfish, or shrimp. All great! Being it was one's birthday, we had one dessert, a large chocolate bomb, that was out of this world! Can't wait to go back soon!

I ordered the crab jumbo that was 14 dollars alone. It was so bland and gross. The pasta has no flavor or seasoning. I saw reviews and this place definitely didn’t taste good

We were fans of Mama Roux and were happy to hear new owners had stepped up to take over the operation. We are delighted to report it is the best Cajun food in Austin. The dishes we had were spot on. They have all the traditional favorites on the menu, plus some different, delicious surprises. Everything came out piping HOT (unlike previous outings at Gumbos). They served the best (big) blackened shrimp I've ever eaten - that includes the places we've tried in New Orleans. Prices are restrained and reasonable. We enjoyed a good $16 bottle of Napa Valley Chardonnay, for example. As of this writing they have been open three weeks and were half full at 7pm on Saturday night. When word spreads the place is open and cranking out great food they will be jammed. Fans of Mama Roux and Ms. B's will like what they taste and see. The remodeled space is more inviting than before. The service is prompt and Texas friendly. It's a gem. You should try it! P.S. Don't miss trying their creme brulle!

My husband and I randomly found this place and I'm glad we stopped in. Nestled between Walmart and Golden Corral is this chef owned gem. We had chicken and andouille sausage gumbo with a fantastic roux. My husband had tilapia almandine and I had the shrimp creole, both very good. The the best part of the meal was the orange and vanilla creme brûlée. It was fantastic!

Very nice find. The owner was onsite the evening we were there and did an excellent job of making sure we were taken care of.

We visited here with our dinner group and we weren't disappointed. It's a hard place to find because it's stuck back in a strip center in North Dallas. If you're able to find it, and you like cajun food, you will love this place. They have a variety of salads, soups, fish & shellfish entrees and some beef choices. Their wine list is just so-so, though. People at our table had dinner salads with lots of veggies in it (I would strongly recommend their ranch jalapeño dressing). Entrees that we had were chicken with crabmeat topping, blackened shrimp, sautéed shrimp, pecan trout, breaded tilapia and the sirloin steak. Everyone was very pleased with their dinners. What I really like about this restaurant is that the sides that came with the entrees were quite small. The main course like shrimp and fish were huge. The night we were there some got mashed potatoes, dirty rice, white rice, and a sautéed cabbage was the vegetable of the day. The service was good and the prices weren't too bad. This is a smallish restaurant that was very crowded on a Friday night and the decor is nice with a New Orleans feel.

I love this place. The food is excellent. I have tried much of the menu and never been disappointed. The wine list is great for aficionados and casual winos alike. The staff is attentive and friendly.Great for entertaining clients and just having a great meal.

I will preface this review with the fact that I have eaten in five star restaurants many times, including in NOLA! This may be one of the best meals I have ever eaten! Certainly the best Cajun/creole meal ever!!!!!! Dinner was delicious, the service stellar, and the overall experience impeccable! We stopped here after seeing it on Tripadvisor as we were wandering in the shopping center after car shopping! What a delightful surprise! Although located in a strip center, the atmosphere is awesome! It is quaint, cozy, and upscale, with a comfortable NOLA feel! Would be a nice restaurant for a date or entertaining guests and yet was totally comfortable. I felt a bit underdressed in yoga pants and an warmup jacket when I first walked in, but the warm welcoming atmosphere had me perfectly comfortable very quickly! The service was delightful! They were personable, accommodating, and were always on the spot when needed (or before) and yet never intrusive! We had the crawfish beignets and Gumbo as appetizers. The beignets are a little like hush puppies in shape and texture. However, the flavors were delicious! Just enough creamy with the rich flavor of crawfish! Mmm! Try them with their Blue Cheese, which I requested because I don't care for jalapeño. The blue cheese dressing was really blue cheese pieces with some dressing in between! It was great! My husband loved the Jalapeño Ranch and the warm marina with the beignets! The gumbo was delicious, full of flavor and shrimp!! It was savory not spicy, which I prefer! My husband had the special, a Blackened redfish covered with a crawfish mushroom butter sauce. It was phenomenal! His red beans and rice were almost as good! The cabbage side was to die for!!!!!!! I had the Mahi Bienvielle but exchanged the Mahi for Redfish. It was phenomenal!!!! The sauce and topping was buttery, creamy, and a perfect complement to my perfectly prepared fish! The fish was moist and flaky! Perfectly cooked!!!!! I had the cheddar mashed potatoes which were good but overshadowed by the fabulous tastes of the fish and the cabbage!!!!!! For dessert we had the turtle cheesecake and the bread pudding. I would have said the bread pudding was awesome but the Turtle Cheesecake was unbelievable!!!! The texture was light without being mousse like. The flavor was delicious!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed both items! The meal was a little pricier than we expected for a restaurant in a strip center. It was about $100 for two appetizers, two of the higher priced entrees, two desserts, and no alcohol. However, it was worth every penny!! We will certainly be back for more!!!!!!

I was in town to spend time with my kids at University of Texas and visit my sister. What a great surprise to find a New Orleans style restaurant that executed the cuisine this well. I'm from New Orleans and find many of the cajun/creole restaurants outside of Louisiana not very good as they seem to think putting a bunch of cayenne pepper on a dish makes it cajun/creole. This place had a great menu full of cajun/creole dishes and everything we ordered was done perfectly. We ordered oysters Rockefeller; seafood gumbo; blackened catfish with shrimp, crawfish and crawfish in a mushroom cream sauce; trout pecan with shrimp in a lemon-thyme butter sauce; chicken oscar covered with sauteed crawfish in a mushroom brandy sauce; and red beans and rice as well as dirty rice. Every dish was delicious! Everyone at the table was from New Orleans and remarked how delighted they were to find this place. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love cajun/creole food done right.

I just love this place, it's impossible to order the wrong thing here. So glad I live so close, we go here all the time.

This is one of my favorite Austin eateries that I have not patronized in awhile plus I have been promising to take Lady Ann to The French Quarter Grille for lunch so today was the day. We started off with the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo which was absolutely deeelicious. My main course was the shrimp and crawfish pasta, in mushroom brandy cream, over cheese tortellini. Lady Ann had the beef and shrimp pasta, blackened beef tips and shrimp served over cheese tortellini with spinach and tomatoes tossed in mushroom brandy cream sauce. We paired our dishes with a very nice Geyser Peak Pinot Noir. We were too full to even look at the dessert menu. Our waitress Renee was the best and I told her that she will see us again.

Burned myself out on BBQ this week, two days in a row, so it was time to shift gears and go in another direction. The French Quarter Grille was chosen for today's lunch. Today's house special was Blackened Chicken with some sort of fancy creamy seafood topping. It sounded good but at the next table I saw something that looked delicious so I ordered it. Shrimp & Crawfish, in mushroom brandy cream, over cheese tortellini and the warm French rolls were perfect for soppin' the mushroom brandy cream. I paired it with a Mark West Chardonnay which was quite pleasant. The dessert menu looked great but since I had to go to work, I only noted what I will try on my next visit. Croissant Bread Pudding with vanilla bean ice cream, caramel rum, and chocolate sauces. Indeed, I shall return.

The restaurant is north of Austin and was recommended by our hotel. The restaurant is a bit hidden in a kind of industrial district. Inside, however, it is very nicely decorated and specializes in Cajun cuisine. The food tasted great to us, the main courses were so big that it doesn't require any starter or dessert. Service was friendly and fast. The restaurant was well attended for a Tuesday evening.

I was surprised by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of this restaurant. Good food, good service, comfortable atmosphere, with a nice clientele. Terrific menu - I wish I had been hungrier, to try more things. I can say that the crabmeat gumbo was delicious and very filling. I look forward to going back.

Elegantly done food. The Alfredo with grilled chicken was delightful without being heavy. And the Orange Creme Brûlée was excellent. Will have to come back for dinner!!

I have to say the Gumbo was amazing and it has me wishing I had another bowl today. The Oysters Rockefeller was outstanding with breaded oysters - kind of an unusual twist but delicious. The only thing I would ask is that they offer beignets for dessert. In my opinion that is a staple dessert offering for a cajun restaurant. Well done on the whole and I will be back.

My family thought I was bonkers asking to go here for my birthday dinner - until they all tasted their food. All 11 of us were very happy with our meals and the service; it's our new favorite for Cajun.

Have been to this restaurant a few times, but the last visit was the best. We started with the Gumbo and it was tasty! I had the shrimp creole and my wife had grilled shrimp with red beans & rice. Both were outstanding. The shrimp were all jumbo and tasted very fresh. We finished the meal with the bread pudding. Best date night meal we can remember!

Due to distance from our house, we don't visit this restaurant often, but it never fails to delight. Fresh fish, great sauces, nice inexpensive wines, and professional staff -- it has never failed to bring back the feeling we are really eating in New Orleans! Tonight we had the Mahi Bienville and Fish Ponchatrain and both were excellent,as well as the sides of cabbage (?who would guess) and dirty rice and red beans - all perfectly seasoned. Yes, it was a great night and dinner!

This is a great restaurant in north Austin where you can eat authentic New Orleans style food. The gumbos and étouffée are delicious as are the blackened fish, chicken and shrimp dishes. We love the key lime pie for dessert. The bread pudding is also a favorite. Love this place!

We found this gem of a restaurant hidden in a strip mall off of I35 and Parmer. The four of us each had a different entree and we were delighted with our choices. I had blackened catfish topped with a gumbo of seafood that was amazing and one of the best bread puddings I have had.ever. Could not have asked for better service. The host and hostess made you fell like their best friend. We're definitely going again.

I adore this restaurant so much. It has become my go-to place for serious comfort food in a fine-dining setting. My vast experience with the menu guarantees the authenticity of the cuisine. The staff there are exceptional as well - very friendly and more than ready to make your visit memorable.

We recently visited the French Quarter Grill after a number of months away. We will NOT let that much time pass again before our next visit. Scott and his team always find a way to make you feel special. They have expanded the menu since our last visit and I personally find the additions to be welcome as I am not much of a fish eater. When our first choice for wine for the evening was out of stock, Scott stopped by with a recommended replacement that he assured us would be as good or better than the original selection. This has happened once or twice before over the years and he has NEVER steered us in the wrong direction. We had a beautiful wine we had never experienced and it was wonderful. All the food came quickly from the back of the house and was marvelous. Leah (sp?) did a wonderful job of taking care of our somewhat boisterous group. They WILL have the chance to see us again in the near future. We are so glad they expanded the restaurant and weathered the ugly days of COVID shutdowns. See you again soon.

A fine dine. Great ambiance & friendly staff. Food is tasty but I'm stuck to their Key lime Pie - Deliciousss.

Food was excellent! Wanted great food near our hotel without going back into downtown and we just came upon this place by chance. It's hard to find a nice restaurant that still has a kids menu so we really appreciated that. Crab cake and fish ponchatrain was amazing - and the bread pudding was perfect. Lived in New Orleans for a few years during college and this really took us back! Its pricey, but my husband and I have no problem paying for a great meal if it's worth it and there were no complaints here.

My daughter wanted to try something new so we stopped and were amazed at the food. Loved the calamari, beans and rice, fish...and dessert!! It is easily accessible off of I-35 in Austin.

I work at UT and my student group wanted to have a Mardi Gras-Themed event with food to match so I looked up this place and sight unseen, took a chance. I was very impressed with a couple of things about this place: quaint and almost intimate dining area where the manager floats around just to say hello and the flakiest and juiciest friend catfish I've had in a long time. For our event, we ordered gumbo and shrimp po boy sandwiches on the tastiest, most buttery bread I've ever had. The sandwiches were the biggest hit. The gumbo wasn't up to my standards - my mom makes it and is from Louisiana so my standards are probably higher than the average person.

Selected to try to celebrate Fat Tuesday as Louisiana fare. The menu selection was outstanding in the varied and different dishes with Cajun emphasis making it hard to chose. Four folks all had different meals and shared Crawfish Hushpuppies that were excellent. You could select how you wanted food prepared and finished for almost everything on the menu and you could also "build your own meal" from scratch. The atmosphere was not fancy and the location in a strip mall gaves us some doubts at first that were overcome tremendously by the waiter's manner of welcoming and speaking of options. Wine was excellent and there are no mixed drinks available. The room was full but quiet and conversations were private. Desserts were excellent as well. Outstanding food and a total, great, positive surprise based on the setting. Wonderful place to enjoy Cajun food.

I'm sorry, but this was the worst food I have eaten since I came to the States two weeks ago, My husbands steak was burnt, and I and my 2 teengage children had chicken. It was awful - tasted rubbery, and our pasta was swimming in butter. Very unpleasant meal, the only good point - the water sever was very attentive,
Good cajun food
The food was nice, very well seasoned - and I liked the abundant selection of main dishes and desserts. Atmosphere was interesting, certainly charming and different. Since I was staying in downtown Austin, it proved a bit far though. But I do recommend this restaurant for a quality candlelit meal.
