Went to Front Street Café for brunch with my husband and son. Loved the atmosphere and the vintage industrial style. I had the French Toast with white chocolate sauce, berries and hazelnuts. WOW! It was fantastic. The bread was super yummy and each of the two slices was 3-4 inches thick. We had Mimosas and Bloody Mary's that were very good too! We will definitely go back! The only drawback is the parking situation. My husband did find street parking several blocks away. It was worth it tho!

Great restaurant, despite it being in a gentrifying, hipster neighborhood. The appetizer was a cauliflower risootto, coated and fried, served over a red pepper coulis. The risotto was the best we've had since a fantastic one we had at Aqua Al Due, in Florence, Italy. We went with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken sandwich, which was also extremely good- better than Federal Donuts' version. Delicious, crispy Southern style coating, with moist chicken inside, served on a soft brioche with mustard maple aioli, pickles, butter lettuce, tomato jam. It is available with applewood smoked bacon (what isn't today?) or avocado. We chose neither, and it didn't need them. It is served with your choice of salad or wedge potatoes. We went for the potatoes, which was an excellent choice. I'm not quite sure how they are prepared, but it seemed as if the potatoes were baked, then fried, as the full potato taste came out, yet the outside was very crisp. For dessert, we went with the vegan cheesecake, made from cashews, with a date/nut crust, topped weith the freshest raspberries and blackberries we've ever been served, then drizzled with chocolate sauce. The beer selection is small, but well curated, and on this night included one of my favorite stouts. The coffee was pretty decent, and served in a really large cup. I mean really large. Bring swimwear. Service was excellent. We had a great waitress, who was very familiar with the food as well as the beers. We will definitely return.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night and had a fabulous time. The menu has something for everyone . Do not miss the Buffalo cauliflower, outstanding. Great beer selection and wonderful service. I would highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you are in the Fishtown area.

My wife and I went here for breakfast. She ordered coffee which she couldn't drink because it was so strong. I ordered an iced chai tea which was good but sweet. I ordered the "Front Street Breakfast" with eggs over easy, potatoes and bacon. It also came with a very small dish of black beans. Everything was average at best. My wife ordered the egg, cheese and bacon sandwich. Again, average although the potato wedges it came with were very good. She also ordered the "Ginger Aid" juice which she liked. The bill with tax and tip came to $45. We should have gone to "Honey's Sit-and-Eat". We would have enjoyed it more and spent much less.

Every time I have eaten here, the food has been amazing. They have a lot of variety - and many options for vegetarians as well as vegans. The outdoor bar is beautiful and a fun place to hang out in the late afternoon on the weekends.

Had a fantastic house breakfast! Beside it, their juices are totally natural and with that best choice to start your day! Great interior!

Just had the most awful experience here with an extremely rude bar tender. A friend and I are staying in the area for a few days and had walked by and kept meaning to pop in for a drink so tonight we decided to venture in... that was a mistake! When we entered the outdoor bar was closing which was dissappointing seeing as it was only 8pm but we thought nothing of it and instead went inside. As we approached the bar i asked about some drinks and was asked for ID. I promptly presented my passport (irish) and my friend also presented an foreign ID. After one quick glance the bar tender quickly replied I cant accept this i need to see a passport or US ID. When i informed her that this was my passport she replied that it had to be an American passport or ID which clearly makes no sense as only american citizens would hold one of these?? She didnt seem to grasp that concept even after we attempted to explain it and when i asked if that meant they didnt serve any internationals she replied no that they didnt and she "didnt make the laws". We also had several other IDs to support the original ones but she was completely uninterested in trying to understand us so instead she took on a completely rude and unacceptable attitude. She suggested that other establishments werent so tight on these rules and that she was sure "there were lots of SEEDY bars" she was sure would take us. As you can imagine i was furious and even more so that none of her co-workers were present at the time to witness the conversation. We quickly left feeling marginalised, discriminated against and completely furious. I cannot speak for the establishment in general as we didnt get to stay but, this server (female, african-american) was enough to turn us off for a lifetime!!

Found this place on a whim while leaving our hotel. Great ambiance and decor. Went for brunch and enjoyed the food. Parking is limited so uber/lift was the best option for us.

Ok went here for a first meeting/date. The whole setup is very chic and cool. The waiter was very patient, as we just met and we're talking a lot. The buffalo cauliflower is really good as well as the grilled peaches. The one big downfall was the water. I know how this sounds but the water had a taste and actually felt slimy in my mouth. It was so gross that I couldn't drink it. Maybe this is their scheme to get people to drink more, Just kidding. On a serious note, esp with all of the drinking water issues currently in America this is concerning. We didn't say anything to the waiter and now I wish we did. Water should be the easiest thing for a restaurant. Not sure what the deal is, but with temps feeling like over 100 degrees, water is a necessity. Should be an easy fix!

Stopped by for breakfast around 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning. We had reservations for 4 people, although we really didn't need them (the restaurant did fill up by the time we left). It's definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood - the inside is the epitome of 'gentrification' decor (dark slate gray, industrial fixtures, metal siding on the walls, no Edison bulbs though). Our waiter was very friendly and welcoming. I had a hard time choosing one entree since everything looked amazing, but I ultimately decided on the Huevos Rancheros ($14) without cheese. The coffee was delightfully strong and served in huge mugs (in other words, it was perfect!). It took about 10 mins for our entrees to arrive. My dish was presented beautifully, and it was a very generous portion. Everything was well-cooked, and all of the flavors blended together wonderfully. Our server was a little less attentive towards the latter half of the meal, but I could have been hypersensitive to this since we were in a rush and waiting on the check. All in all, I wish I had a Front Street Cafe near my house because I would definitely go at least once a week, if not once a day! FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 4/5 ENVIRONMENT: 4/5 VALUE: 4.5/5 OVERALL: 4.5/5

I stopped here with my boyfriend for breakfast after staying in Fishtown for the night. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Great menu to choose what you'd like with fresh ingredients. My bf had the banana foster pancakes and I had ordered the quinoa oats porridge, (although they served me a salad), but the food was good. We were on a time restraint otherwise I would have corrected my order. Salad def isn't something I want for breakfast. Lol.. anyway, the coffee was lovely and I enjoyed how they served simple syrup with my iced coffee. It's the little touches that make a great experience. :)

I can't say enough good things about this new-ish gem on Front Street. I almost hesitate to let the word out, as our visit last night was superb. Inside, the space is a knockout (see photo of entrance area-coffee shop). We later learned from our incredibly knowledgeable server that all the construction materials used are reclaimed, sustainable or otherwise environmentally responsible. The level of commitment to the interior is even better reflected in the fabulous, inventive menu and the perfectly presented and delicious food. The service was spectacular. Candy, you were lovely, efficient, super-informed and welcoming. Thank you! I'll definitely ask to be seated at your table next time. Here's the thoughts on food: If you are vegetarian or vegan, you'll absolutely go wild. If you're not, you'll still love all the fish and meat selections! Win-win. The menu was an absolute delight - I wanted to order it all! Hint: Get the cauliflower app!!! It's a vegan version of BBQ wings BUT SO MUCH BETTER! 1/2 the table didn't even like cauliflower and they fell on our (2!) orders. You'll want two also! See photo of a partially decimated plate of them. The fish tacos were excellent too, BTW. For entrees, I'd highly recommend the Spaghetti & meatballs, seriously! It's a vegan version again: spaghetti squash with lentil meatballs that was to die for (see photo). My husband raved about the braised chicken, which was served over fresh cooked beets and potato croquettes (see photo). 2 Kids loved the buttermilk chicken sandwich, accompanied by the great house salad or the amazing baked potato side. Another daughter loved her tarragon chicken salad sandwich. Ok, we also got 2 desserts. The vegan cheesecake, made with acai berries, won hands down. The rich walnut brownie was just a tad dry, but came with a fabulous bourbon chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream that moistened it up nicely. All in all, a great, memorable meal. I'll be back soon!

Our party of 4 had a fantastic experience here last Friday night. We had reservations, were seated immediately, and sat outside on the patio behind the restaurant. It is a combination of wood, bamboo and steel, that provides a very relaxing vibe. Service was attentive and informative. Good beer selection. I had the Vault Brewing CCCCC IPA. Excellent. We had the brussel sprout and the buffalo cauliflower apps. They were quite delicious. Usually not a fan of buffalo anything, but these were more of a dry rub, not the usual gooey, wet approach so common. Loved the sprouts, highly recommend both. Main course I had the Mushroom parpardelle. SO good. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The sauce was amazing with chunks of mushroom and not overly garlicky. We finished with a shared chocolate mousse, vegan style. It was made with hummus but you would never know. Smooth, chocolate and awesome. I had an espresso and it was very good. With 2-3 rounds of drinks our bill came to just under $200 including tip. Great food and a great value in my opinion. Highly recommend this place and we hope to come back very soon.

We were at the outdoor bar for a birthday party. Had a great time. There was a bar and lounge upstairs. And the main restaurant on the 1st floor.

Great decor and service. Really liked the dark woods and the diverse menu. Something here for everyone. Right by the subway stop. Feels like it is a neighborhood on the rise. We very much enjoyed ourselves.

We enjoyed Sunday brunch very much. We found the service to be just right, not too slow, not too rushed, and friendly, and while the cafe was quite full, the high ceilings and opening to the back garden meant that the decibels were not too high, conversation was easy. Our group found our food choices to be excellent. The Dry Aged Burger was juicy and delicious--extra napkins would have been helpful for this-- as were the Organic Buttermilk Fried Chicken sandwiches in different permutations. Both the salads and soups we chose were delicious as well. Three of us enjoyed lattes, though I thought it tasted a little weak, the rest of my group was satisfied. There were enough good choices on this menu that I would definitely consider returning.

Met here for a business meeting, great atmosphere, service was good, food was delicious and healthy. Had a kale salad with shrimp, draft beer and a cappuccino to top it off. My client was impressed and I sealed the deal thank you! Two thumbs up!

First of all, they did an amazing job remodeling this place. This used to be a sketchy corner. It's beautiful inside and there's so many delicious vegan AND gluten-free options. The staff were super friendly, and not in the fake way, but like really genuinely friendly. We want to make this our new neighborhood brunch spot.

We enjoyed a late breakfast/early lunch one day. Quite impressed, so we returned for drinks and dinner a few days later. Diverse menu selections, friendly professional staff and delicious food. We will return on our next visit.

I chose this restaurant as it had gluten free options - I'm also a diabetic and hubby is allergic to sesame. We are a complete nightmare to cater for but we get used to just choosing what we know we can have rather than bother servers too much. Booked on opentable thinking we just want a quick breakfast before returning to NY and as we were driving thought it would be a quick in and out. I think we were pretty lucky with street parking as we had driven around twice but we managed to get a space within a couple of minutes. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to see an enclosed courtyard, we just expected a few tables outside a restaurant, which there are but the space is decorated lovely and you instantly can feel a chilled out vibe - just makes you feel relaxed. Great to witness the careful cleaning in between each seating regardless of how busy they were. Greeted with a broad smile by a young gentleman out front, I scanned the menu on the QR reader and were led to our table and reminded about the COVID restrictions and time limit of 90 minutes. I noticed the large area is covered, which is great to know in trying to locate restaurants at the moment which could be affected by weather. Perfect. Hubby had problems with his phone with QR reader so was given a single use menu. We immediately relaxed and we both ordered the Front St breakfast; mine with gf toast and hubby had mushroom bacon, which he said was great. I was tempted to get a cocktail as many options were gluten free, including a gf beer - but I refrained this time - noted for a reservation the next time. Another highlight was the English breakfast tea, which was something we had not seen before so cutely, little hand-wrapped parcels of tea - delicious! Our server, Alyssa is a wonderfully charming server, incredibly attentive, kind and thoughtful. It was a true pleasure to chat and be served by her and it really set us up for the day, with great food and cheery efficient service. Alyssa is a real asset to the establishment. Thank you and see you again soon.

Normally a good restaurant but I had a salad today that was awful. Looked and tasted like it was leftover from last week. Good atmosphere and good wine but left disappointed.

The 5 of us rotate who gets to choose our brunch spot, my turn, so we went to Front St. Love the atmosphere kinda industrial chic, but fits right in with the booming Frankford food scene. It’s not easy to find good vegan breakfasts, so our expectations were not the highest. Fortunately we were wrong and our meals were really good. We ordered front st breakfast with tofu scramble, vegetable hash, bananas foster pancakes, benedict, vegan scrapple and mushroom bacon. The drinks were good as well, but as with many brunch spots, stingy with the liquor! I would def return perhaps for lunch or dinner.

Situated in the very cool Fishtown area Front Street Cafe is a must visit. I came for breakfast and had the hot cakes but the whole menu looked great. Nice ambience and very friendly service.

This has happened twice now where our order on Caviar has been completely ruined. The first time they just completely forgot a part of our order. The hostess told us they left it under the heat lamp in the kitchen and just forgot to put it in. This time they didn’t even put our order from Caviar in right. They only put one burger in to the kitchen and we ordered two. They always offer that we can come pick it up, but that is the reason we are ordering online - we do not live in walking distance. Complete lack of care and attention to detail from the hostesses. Completely disappointed as I did like this restaurant.

Unpleasant first and last visit to the Front Street Cafe. It took an extraordinarily long time for the server to bring out one very simple order, despite the cafe's being quite empty and quiet that morning. The employees gave misleading descriptions of the food and the portion sizes, leading to disappointment and unfulfilled expectations. The server was somewhat unfriendly and seemed obviously inconvenienced by cafe patrons. Overall very frustrating and unimpressive visit. I cannot recommend Front Street Cafe to others as a worthwhile or satisfying place to eat.

Anyone traveling to Philadlephia, this restaurant was amazing. They have so many vegan choices that they list what’s NOT vegan on the menu, versus what is. Neither of us is vegan, but you really wouldn’t know and the food was really good, (regardless of the lack of animal stuffs...) Also, over half the menu is gluten free (I had crab cakes!) and the service is awesome.

Excellent chai latte and soy latte - you can grab coffee here to go. I was unable to get a seat for the sit down brunch, but it was sure packed. The portions are massive based on looking at the plates coming out. Great vibes here, excellent breakfast choices, and alcohol.

I was looking for a space for my daughhter's bridal shower for approximately 20 guests. Front Street Cafe was perfect. The room had a seperate bar area and plenty of mingling space. The food was excellent and the space was very inviting. The event coordinator, Ling Phan was very responsive and helpful.

went to Front Street Cafe for an event in Fishtown they have a huge back porch area... i had the Buffalo Cauliflower, it was awesome.. if you go you have to try it..

Love Front Street Cafe for everything it has to offer. They have a coffee shop, 3 cocktail bars, a huge beautiful outdoor dining area and a private room on the second floor for events. The menu has something for everyone but leans towards healthy and vegan alternatives.

As other reviewers mention there are many food options, Great for vegetarians and vegans. The $14 burger, one of two meat items on the menu fell short, I was told the fired chicken sandwich was amazing. I opted for the Belgrade Margarita and it was undrinkable as it was made with straight lime juice, couldn't taste anything but the lime juice that burned my throat. Honestly wouldn't make a repeat visit.

Seated promptly after a temp check - similar to other reviewers we were seated in a booth with very cold air blasting onto our legs and feet. Appetizer of chicken fingers were tasty, if a bit overdone. I was hoping to cut my tenders to let them cool, but we never got silverware or napkins. Asked bar for napkins and had to wait for waitperson to provide silverware. Ordered chicken salad sandwich (flavor was way to smoky and there was a liberal amount of whole grain mustard on bread). In their defense the menu lists mustard, but when I saw chicken salad sandwich I never imagined mustard on chicken salad. Another ordered a crispy chicken sandwich - good flavor, but breading was soggy. Son ordered cauliflower bites with Buffalo sauce. Cauliflower was not deep fried so it was just kinda mushy. Iced tea and soda are not free refills, one of my pet peeves. If you’re gonna charge $2-3 for a beverage, at least offer one refill. On the positive - French fries were good, lemon iced tea was tasty as was hot green tea. But $100 is a lot to pay for fries and a drink. Also, very different menus for breakfast (til 1), lunch (til 4) and dinner starting at 5. So if you see something on the menu that you like, make sure you’re there at the appropriate time. They won’t make something from the breakfast menu for lunch.

Nice casual environment w great menu and awesome happy hour! Had the most delicious buffalo cauliflower. Good service too.

We had early lunch here on a Friday on our way back home after an appointment in center city. I'm on crutches so nearby pay lot helped. All good and would stop again in the future. Might try the breakfast served until 3 next time.

Recently dined here with a few girlfriends for brunch! The place gets packed on the weekends so I would recommend getting there early or making reservations. They have many options for meat eaters, vegans, or gf guest... something for everyone. Great cocktails, coffee, smoothies, and pastries as well! Breakfast was good- I would highly recommend checking this spot out whether you are a local or from out of town.

Lovely bright airy space and we were a large group so went upstairs. Very nice kale salad and soups, and hominy grits. Friendly and efficient staff.

We were a group of ten celebrating a vegetarian family member's college graduation and found the Front Street Café to be just right. We weren't in a hurry, so it didn't matter that service wasn't lightning fast; our servers were friendly and helpful. The food was very good, especially (believe it or not) the porridge. It was simply delicious. The black bean burger was also well received. The second floor where we were seated is spacious and bright, even though it was a stormy day. One caveat: arrive early to find parking, because the pickings are slim in this now-hot neighborhood.

Wow.. you have to try the chicken tenders. We hadn’t had chickens tenders in forever so it was a real treat to crunch into them and have that experience. The vegan spaghetti and lentil meatballs were also delicious. We had great cocktails and great service. It was so nice to sit outdoors under the stars.

Vegan cheesesteak was absolutely delicious. Best one I’ve ever had. Vegan pumpkin cheesecake for dessert was wonderful, including the soy latte. Don’t miss this spot!

Beautiful space. Delicious food (very vegan/gluten free friendly) and terrific staff. Great experience and we’ll define back!

Came here for Tuesday afternoon brunch. We were immediately impressed by the rustic, yet airy atmosphere, vegetarian/vegan friendly, and even Germaphobe friendly. The bathroom door uses a toe-opener, which was highly appreciated. Other attention to detail like electrical outlets and hooks at the bar were also well thought out. Now on to the service and food. We received a friendly greeting and were seated immediately. Our server was great and suggested a few items off the menu. We started with the buffalo cauliflower and the lentil chili, both I would recommend. Then we had the vegan breakfast tacos, good but you really have to love tofu because they are full of it. The side of black beans that came with it was a disappointment. They did not taste fresh like the rest of the food and were hard. The side order of vegetable hash was very good. Hubby had the organic fried chicken sandwich and said it was outstanding. For drinks I would recommend the firefly and their fresh squeezed oj. Also tried the vegan donuts to go. Good, but I have to get use to the texture. Overall, this place is worth a visit. Even if you are not big on healthy eating or meatless options, you will find something here to enjoy.

My colleague and I were looking for a place to get together to catch up. I live in NJ and she's in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We didn't want to meet in Center City and have to deal with expensive parking. So this was exactly 30 minutes for each of us. My requirements for nourishing my body are yummy and healthy! This was a yes and heck yes! I got the Chicken Salad Sandwich (sans brioche bun) and a side salad with the Carrot Ginger dressing. That was paired with the Ginger Citrus Iced tea. I ate all of it. Every last morsel. We sat outside because the weather was so nice. Now that I think of it, I didn't swat away one bug. Hmmm.....not sure how they accomplished that. The simplicity of the menus, the rustic decor all made for a great meal. There was a lot just down the street. $5 for 3 hours (3 hours was the lowest option) or if you get there early enough and the parking angels are with you, you might get a free street spot. I would definitely go back again and recommend to friends. There are a few other items on the menu that look worth trying.

Front Street Cafe gives classic diner vibes with a twist — the food is solid and familiar, but the real surprise is their juice and smoothie offerings, which are genuinely great. The outdoor seating is a nice bonus, especially on a sunny day. A solid neighborhood spot that feels easy and unpretentious, with just enough healthy options to keep things interesting.

Located under the El subway line, this place is beautiful renovated. High Ceilings, marble countertops, reclaimed wood tables and chairs and pews. Gorgeous, The place is HUGE. Interior and massive outdoors patio is what dream eateries are made of. Cool, clean, with a little industrial, a little farmhouse. There is so much room, you feel like you can breathe, stretch out and enjoy your meal, cocktails, what have you. And folks, that's where my compliments will end. The burger was pretty good, but dang, this place needs WORK. It's been a while since I've experienced such horrendous service like what's going on here and I'm a local. What absolutely ruined my experience the last time I was here, was a combined failure of front and back of house, and one where not one management person came to our table to apologize or explain, which is a big no-no in my book. Let me reiterate that prior to my current employment, I had been in the restaurant/service industry for a long time, so I'm familiar how problems like these typically get resolved. Set scene. Sunday brunch. Mid-day, relatively busy, but not oppressively so. Lots of vacant tables, restaurant seemed to be well-staffed. Party of five (that includes a three year old). Orders taken for drinks and food at the same time. Takes a good fifteen minutes to receive drink order. Fine, it's brunch. Food arrives perhaps another fifteen minutes later, but food runner brings me a wrong order, and the two sides we ordered for my daughter never materialize or the iced coffee that I had ordered at the outset. Ten minutes pass, our server absent-minded appears with no apology but says food is coming, I remind her of the missing sides (a bagel and some grits) along with my order a vegetable sandwich. I'm polite. Bagel and a veggie sandwich, kitchen should be able to slap that together rather fast? No. Another ten to fifteen minutes pass and nothing. Finally the bagel for my daughter appears, few minutes later, the iced coffee is dropped off. I urge everyone to eat while it's hot, and no one really steps forward to tell us the status of the outstanding food, or apologizes - it's just an afterthought. After everyone is done, the server re-appears again without showing interest or concern. I inform her that I'd like to take my food to go since the meal is finished. Nearly twenty minutes after everyone's food arrives, my to go container with a VEGETABLE sandwich (not a burger well done) appears. Our bill arrives and she tells us she didn't charge us for the sides (well, the one bagel we ordered) nor the sandwich and that's it. No apology, no manager, no one. Crickets. The food in the end, is pretty much mediocre and on the whole cold. The burger is the most delicious item I taste at the table (and I'd reorder that in a heartbeat, if I ever was to return), and their bloody mary's, are well, absymal. The veggie sandwich I eat once we're home, it simply that: a sad little bun that contains peppers, onions, a portabella mushroom and a couple strands of arugula. I'm told there's some salsa verde in there, but I don't taste it. Their smoothies (though crazy price-y at 8 bucks a pop) are yummy. We were seated at the large booths that sit right at the double doors that lead outside; which annoyingly enough felt the harsh reverberations of the doors smashing open and shut every 45 seconds when service kept going in and out. The absolute lack in professional service and/or concern was the real kicker for me here. I mean, mistakes happen. This restaurant hasn't been open forever, but it's been long enough, that these kinds of mistakes and inconsistencies should be resolved by now, and the fact that the manager (I'm assuming it was a woman that delivered the bagel and said it was 'on her' - and who never introduced herself or made a reappearance at our table - clearly avoiding us) was entirely absent really ruined the whole dining experience for both myself and my family who was dining here for the first time. The server never really showed signs for concern, a simple "I'm sorry about the mistake or your order, or anything" would have gone a long way. But nope. Entirely unacceptable. Won't be coming back here and you shouldn't make the trip out either.

We had a fun dinner at Front Street Cafe! The atmosphere was energetic and the food was very good. Highly recommend the black bean burger--full of flavor and the fries were crisp and delicious. The beef burger also got high praise! A shout out to our server, Tirrell, who was just the right amount of attentive--an impressive feat given that the place was hopping on a Saturday night. The overall energy of the clientele and waitstaff was infectious! I'm sure we will be back.

Nice place with room to spread out. Friendly staff, willing to help with choices. Lots of vegetarian options. Coffee was good.

We went there for dinner after checking the menus of some of the "vegetarian" restaurants online and finding that the Front Street Cafe had some of the more interesting options. Also, Fishtown is always an interesting place to walk around. After being seated in the really nicely decorated beer garden and going through the menu, we realized one of the choices we saw online (mushroom tacos) was not available, so we decided to stick with the small plate options. The Buffalo Cauliflower had been recommended by more than a few reviewers and it definitely was the best of the three dishes that we got. It had just enough spice to not overwhelm the delicate vegetable and the cauliflower was cooked perfectly. I am usually not a fan of cauliflower but this was very tasty! The loaded potatoes were good, but had so much stuff on them that they got a bit soggy. Think I would skip on those the next time. The mushrooms over polenta could have been very good but the polenta was seriously oversalted and we could not detect any truffle that was supposed to be part of the dish. The mushrooms themselves were very good. For drinks, my wife had a glass of wine, which tasted as if the bottle had been open a couple of days, and I had cocktails. The Stormy Thompson was a bit tart and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer evening! The cucumber one (forgot the name) was okay but tasted like drinking a cucumber. Not a fan. Our server was a bit disengaged and didn't seem interested in talking about menu items or offering suggestions, even though it was not very busy and we saw other servers who were quite engaged with customers. It was not very expensive at $70 with the tip for a dinner of "small" plates and drinks. Three small plates, by the way, were more than enough for two people. Possibly due to the giant platter of loaded potatoes that we still could not finish. It was a pleasant and relaxing dinner in the beer garden. Nice atmosphere and beautiful heavy natural wood tables. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could, but will lean to 4 stars for now until we can go back and give some of the other dishes a go. It is easy to get to with street parking in the area and a metro stop right there (we watched the trains go by overhead).

Every time I’m in Philadelphia I stop here for breakfast. Great options for vegans and carnivores alike. Love the chicken and waffles which is chicken bits fried in waffle batter. The Benedict is great also. Huge sized coffee mugs which is great cause the coffee is wonderful. The smoothies a great addition to any meal. The decor is modern concrete and wood sleek right down to the impressive restrooms. Very clean and friendly staff. Also full bar for anyone who needs a drink. Can’t say enough about this place.

Recently six of us had Sunday morning brunch. We got seated promptly but our entrees arrived 65 minutes later. Service was just average. The bread pudding was delicious and very filling. The pumpkin pancakes were way too sweet. French fries not crisp. Hamburger was overcooked so all our entrees were held waiting for a correctly cooked burger. Prices on the high side. Bloody Mary tasted more like a virgin mary. I would not recommend for brunch on Sundays.

All style and no substance. For 12 bucks I want better than undercooked, lukewarm black beans, cold 'toast' (semi-stale bread more like) and cold, undercooked, greasy potatoes, clearly left over from yesterday and reheated in the most cursory way as to render the skin slightly warmed. Service was sullen bordering on unfriendly. Go elsewhere, if the breakfast is anything to go by then this place is a waste of money.

My boyfriend is vegan and we were looking for some place to eat in Philadelphia that would honor his dietary needs along with having a cocktail or two. This place kept poping up as an option and we looked over the menu online and decided. We first got there not knowing where to park until we asked a local and permit parking was not required on the street we were on. Score! We were greeted by a welcoming barista staff letting us know the host will be right with us and the host arrived in no time. We asked if we could be seated outside and she said they have hi tops in the bar area. The bartender/bar back came over and gave us menus. I ordered a straw rhub prosecco cocktail and my boyfriend tried Not your fathers root beer. They served it with a glass of ice which was interesting. We ordered a couple things to share. Vegan tacos, vegetable hash and I wanted the smoked salmon platter since I am not vegan (another reason to try this restaurant because you can still order meat while vegans can still get meals other than a veggie burger) but they were out of the salmon. We decided on the buffalo cauliflower. Everything was great! The veggies in the hash melted in you mouth and the mixed green salad and dressing were banging. The tofu could of been seasoned more and browned but either way it was great! The tacos were tasty too. The black beans served on the side were so flavorful! The sauce on the bottom of the tacos was sweet and smoky. The buffalo cauliflower was awesome too! The sauce with it was cooling and the cauliflower was slightly crunchy on the outside which added a nice texture without over doing it. We were wondering if they fried it or baked it. Our experience was great, will def come back and try more items.

This is a great place to enjoy a fabulous and healthy meal. They have some outstanding and unusual selections, such as buffalo cauliflower, mushroom bacon, etc. The Tuscan chicken salad is wonderful, a little spicy but not too much. The eggs benedict choices are delicious. The facility itself is very cool, with lots of reclaimed materials being used in the decor. The outside bar and seating are great. The fresh made smoothies and drinks are awesome. Definitely a place to keep returning to.

Came to town to visit some friends, they chose the Front Street Café. The atmosphere is hip and cool, staff was friendly...really love the look and feel of the place. We started with the buffalo cauliflower....was terrific. I would return for that alone. The menu was really diverse....and different, not you usual Americana food. The main dishes were also good.....just not as good as that cauliflower. definitely a cool, would love to come back and try more item on the menu.

It's always a DREAM for me to have MULTIPLE vegan options on a menu... because then I do not have to order from the "sides" or ask a million times if something is or isn't vegan. I love this spot, the space, the food. Our meal was served hot and tasty, the way I like it. Service is great, too. I cannot wait to go back.

This was our second visit. Last time we sat outside and loved the atmosphere. Sitting inside was just as enjoyable. Lots of yummy choices and very vegan friendly.

Very, very impressed with this place. I wasn't sure what to expect as we had never heard of it, but saw the menu on OpenTable and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did. There are so many vegan options and everything we tried was amazing... buffalo cauliflower, vegan mozzarella sticks, mushroom pappardelle, and the twice baked potato. The service was also great. I can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu!!

We came here for Monday breakfast/brunch and what a good choice it was! Place looks very cool, Stevan was super nice from the beginning, and food was delicious!!! We ordered scrambled eggs and turkey sandwich, front street benedict and avocado toast. Avocado toast was a blast!! Super super tasty! Don't go without trying this one. It's good to share. Good experience. Will be back next time we visit Philly.

We shared an order of Bananas Foster multigrain pancakes with vegetables hash. The pancakes were surprisingly light and the banana sauce very tasty. We reallyed liked the vegetable hash. In all, a good meal.

A friend and I recently dined here for lunch- It was a really cold day and its quite cozy inside. I had a coffee and she had a chai latte- I took a sip of it and it was delish!!! A somewhat limited menu for lunch- which is nice when you dont have a million options (plus you know its fresh) I had the quinoa bowl with chicken. It was really good and filling as well. My friend had the fried chicken and she enjoyed it. She mentioned they have a really nice upstairs ( I didn't go up) I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely go back again! The also have a bar if you want to drink!

I came back to Philly since last year and had to have breakfast here again. It has a great selection of food and drinks. Their fresh juices are incredible. They have healthy and comfort food. You won't regret coming here. Very friendly staff and good prices.

We reserved the upstairs room for a work party for the Humane League. The workers at the counter and our waitress were both very friendly. And the food was lovely! I had the Banans Foster Hotcakes (Whole grain!) with a side of Smoked Mushroom Bacon. Both were delicious, so I'll probably be back to try other things.

I was first introduced to front street by a friend of mine who brought me here for brunch with a group of friends and I fell it love with it then. I had the açaí bowl and a mimosa. Came back with my roommate after yoga for another açaí bowl and this time had the lavender coffee YUM. Definitely worth trying. Then I had to bring my boyfriend back for dinner. Definitely recommend. So many vegan and vegetarian options but also meat options so the meat-eaters don’t roll their eyes at coming here. Something for everyone. I will say I didn’t like their sangria, tasted like nothing but carbonated water, but maybe that was just an off-night. The waitress was super helpful and recommended the Temperilla instead and I was very happy. I’ll definitely be back !!

The vegans and carnivores really enjoyed this place. The vegan mozzarella was better than real cheese. Loved the buffalo cauliflower and ravioli with cannelini beans. Duck was prepared simply and cooked perfectly. Our server, Zeke, was excellent. He knew how everything was prepared to guide us in our choices. So many interesting choices on the menu. Chocolate mousse was a rich yet light way to finish. It's hard to find a place that emphasizes both vegan and non vegan cooking. A reason to go to Fishtown.

My son and I were in the area so he found this place online, because he needs gluten-free. We sat outside and had a very nice lunch. I had the Front Street breakfast, with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, smoked baked beans and toast. I recommend the straw-rhubarb jam. My son had a breakfast bowl, which was essentially a smoothie in a bowl, topped with gluten-free oats. Both were really good.

After a 40 minute wait we were seated upstairs at a nice big table in a room with high ceilings and that great Philly atmosphere. Downstairs bar area was busy with customers and looked very cozy as we walked through the area. The menu offered a good variety of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian dishes. Unfortunately nothing we ordered really stood out to make us go back; the black bean burger lacked the bite and a variety of garnishes - the cucumber dill aioli was missing all together. The normally fantastic buffalo cauliflower app was overly soaked in extra spicy buffalo sauce and between the three of us we were not able to finish it. The side salad sat in 1.5” of delicious dressing which nearly destroyed the salad. The grilled cheese was good though overly greasy. The highlight was the açaí bowl and was by far the best dish at the table. So, though the restaurant itself was nice, the food just didn’t live up to our expectations.

Hipster funk with a strong vegan, gluten free orientation. Gentrifying neighborhood is fun to see and the menu is nice and friendly to all tastes, but really worth it if anyone in your party is vegan or gluten free

Went here with the hubs for lunch midweek. I’m vegetarian and he’s a carnivore so I liked that they had plenty of options for us both. They have a nice menu. My husband said the turkey burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I had a side salad with carrot ginger dressing and the siracha cauliflower appetizer. The salad was unremarkable but good. The cauliflower was amazing. We also got an order of vegan fries (vegan whiz, mushroom-bacon bits, scallions, spicy ketchup, garlic sriracha sauce) to share. They were not great. I recommend skipping them entirely. The ingredients held promise but they didn’t deliver on flavor. I ended up adding a bunch of hot sauce to them and that helped. The service was lukewarm. They automatically add 20% for the tip so the server really had no incentive to make any effort at all. My husband never got a refill on his $4 iced tea and when he asked for a refill to-go the waitress brought it to him with another check for $4. That’s ridiculous. I debated giving 3 stars because of the service but decided to go with 4 because the food that was good was really good. The ambiance was good.

Fresh and tasty brunch spot. Enjoyed eating outdoors in their courtyard. Pomegranate mimosa was tasty. Ask for jam if you order toast - made in house and oh so good. Very fresh food, prepared well. Friendly staff!

Got together with friends, and Front Street Cafe was recommended by a friend who lives in the area. Checked out the menu beforehand because of the need to eat gluten-free. They offer most items on the menu as gluten-free, which was nice to know. However, what caught my attention on the menu was the chili with GF cornbread. Which I ultimately got to eat. It was hearty, but the little cornbread roll was disappointing. I guess I was expecting more cornbread. Mentioned something to the waitress, and she was nice enough to bring me another cornbread roll. We share the Fishtown Queso, which was ok, but not great. My two friends both had the Organic Buttermilk Fried Chicken, one thought it was really spicy, but both seemed to enjoy it. The drinks we got seemed a little on the weak side. The waitress and food runner were both really nice, and attentive. The restaurant looks really nice inside, and had a nice looking outside patio. Unfortunately it was starting to rain when we got there, so we didn't get to sit on the patio. I would go back to try additional items on the menu and to be able to sit outside on the patio.

I absolutely love the atmosphere here - industrial/farmhouse style. Great place to do some work/study in afternoon during the week (nice wifi) LOVE their kombucha on draft, good beer list, and excellent chai latte. However - the food is really nothing to write home about. The cinnamon roll I ordered was a bit stale and cold. The other meals I've had never stuck in my mind as anything out of this world.

Great food and service was excellent! Wow, what a delicious burger and soup! Try the fried mozzarella, best we have ever had!

Good food with an awesome atmosphere. There was a little mix up with our order but was fixed promptly by our server!

Loved the vegetarian/vegan options, but lots of carnivore food as well. The peach tea is something I'd drink all day!

I visited Front Street Cafe with a friend and found that we had to wait for a table. It is packed out the door but definitely worth the wait. The breakfast was beautiful with good service. I would go back if ever in Philly again.

Space is great and the menu provides a lot of options. But, just because people come in for breakfast on a Sunday doesn't mean they're interested in a two hour brunch. Start to finish, that's how long it took for us to order, be served, and eat a fairly uncomplicated breakfast. Service is something I tend not to throw a flag on, but management could use to remind their servers to pay a bit more attention. When it's taking an inordinate amount of time for a scrambled egg-based dish to roll out of the kitchen, touching base with your guests with an update goes a lot longer than looking sheepish because you know a scrambled egg-based dish shouldn't take 45 minutes to roll out of the kitchen. I'll give Front Street another shot; hopefully, these issues are solvable. It really is a great space and a place that serves a definite need in the neighborhood.

Sometimes you walk into a restaurant, sit down, read the menu, check out the ambience, assess the waitstaff and just hope for the best. When you walk into FTC you get what you hoped for . . .and then some. Even though you will be inclined to stuff your face, you will feel good about what you eat. Every neighborhood should have a Front Street Café! The waitstaff , without exception, is delightful and knowledgeable about the food items and their contents (very important for those with allergies and aversions). I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Each time I have been very pleased with the range of options for carnivores, pescatores, vegetarians and vegans. Whatever you choose will be interesting and unique. My most recent brunch included a delicious tofu scramble (Don’t wriggle up your noses – you wouldn’t have know it was tofu!) with an entire hasselback potato, porridge bread (hearty and delicious), salad greens, black beans and a mushroom “bacon” that absolutely was amazing in both taste and texture. My husband loves their giant cups of Counter Culture coffee. The bar makes some dynamite drinks too. Each time we go we order something different and have never been disappointed. One of these days I will save room for dessert or a smoothie! I watched the progress of the rehab of this building on the corner of Thompson and Front Streets in Fishtown. Attention was paid to the details. Nothing foo-foo about this place. It is so nicely done on the outside and just as nice on the inside - red brick with black trim, metal accents, polished concrete floors, lots of wood, corregated metal square ceiling “tiles”. The outdoor seating is just as comfortable looking. . . wide open space, high wood fence, planters, metal staircase to second floor. The bathrooms were intelligently designed too (almost unheard of in the USA) – bright enough so you can actually see yourself and it is spacious. There are white hexagonal tiles on the floor and subway tiling on the walls, great accent lights (industrial looking), concrete sink, full wall mirror, bathroom stalls that are deep enough to walk into and close the door without falling into the toilet, and when the stall door is locked, the “no vacancy” sign appears on the handle so there are uninvited guests!

Had graduation dinner here for 12 and the meal was awesome. Andrew the server was amazing and gave us his insight into all the dishes we asked about. The group was made up of several vegans, so we knew there would be options for them. All the food was incredible-appetizers to main meals. For those carnivores that think they will never like vegan food, you have to try the vegan appetizers and entrees. Crossing over into both worlds was easy and delicious. Prices were incredibly reasonable for large city.

Our party of 7 selected FS Cafe for a birthday celebration. Two of our guests were vegan, and we liked that vegan and non-vegan food was offered. The service was fine and the atmosphere was nice. However, the food ranged from very good to so-so. The vegan fishtown queso, vegan spaghetti and meatballs, chicken roulade and golden glow smoothie fell within the so-so range. The loaded potato wedges, fried chicken sandwich and burger were good. Our waiter gave our (pregnant) friend who asked for her rare duck be cooked more a bit of a hard time, which we didn't appreciate. All in all, it was ok and might be worth giving one more try.

Made a reservation directly on their website, showed up that evening 15 minutes early for our reservation and they said they were closed. The incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful manager/owner came out and was extremely rude to us and didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. Just kept saying “I don’t know what to tell you we turned reservations off for tonight” when we had clearly made a reservation and then just rolled her eyes and walked away. Will not be returning.

My friends and I went here for breakfast/ brunch, it's a bit trendy for us. I loved the atmosphere and the tea. That's about all I enjoyed about this restaurant. After waiting to be seated (this was not a problem) we waited another 35 minutes before we had the chance to order. Then waited another 30 minutes for scrambled eggs which weren't done as ordered, when sent back they still didn't come done as ordered. We asked for separate checks before ordering any food and they said that would not be a problem. When we asked for the check it was not separated. The vent under the table was blasting cold air onto our legs and feet the entire time. We will not be returning or recommending.

Aesthetically pleasing! Waiter was very nice, food was well prepared and didn't take too long. They have bold coffee (which we love) and my husband even got an expresso martini with breakfast! Definitely recommend! We will be back soon.

I of course had the burger and here's the breakdown Bun--nice Bun on the small size though Cheese--I liked the cheese, it was different Toppings-- I didn't really get any pizzazz from the jam they put on it, I thought it was flat Meat--my biggest complaint--burger aficionados such as myself are not big fans of the "flattened patty" approach but it seems to be a trend, just not in the right direction in my opinion....a handmade patty cooked to the temperature liking of the customer is what I prefer....overall it's a good burger that comes with really good and filling "potato log" type fries so in the end it's good but not in my top 50 burgers....I would recommend ordering the fries because they were good

Unique take on the menu - instead of marking food items that are vegan, they mark food items that are not vegan. The sesame salad is full of flavor and every bite was a different explosion of flavors. Indoor and outdoor seating is perfect in the summer.

I enjoyed the cool menu at Front Street Cafe. The buffalo cauliflower was outstanding. I had a chicken sandwich which was also delicious. I'd definitely go back to this place when i'm in the area again. They also had very cool mixed drinks and what felt like millions of beer to choose from. The outdoor area was also a great place to just sit and chill with drinks.
Great place to eat and relax
Family event, Sunday brunch. Had great time. Service impeccable, food outstanding (all organic), atmosphere very attractive. We were a large group so we sat in the second floor, very cozy. One of the dishes we tried (several of us) was the GravLox, strongly recommended. Portions are descent size and quality as well as presentation fantastic. The place has outdoors seating, weather permitting (mid Dec and there were people sitting outside). It is a total non-smoking facility, for the the hard core smokers they have to go outside at the sidewalk.
