Best delivered sushi in town.

Decent, not great

Sushi rolls looked great. Decent but the rolls weren’t joined at the bottom, a bit strange. Prices average given center city location

Best Sushi For Your Buck

By lcattau |

I have been going to Fuji Mountain for almost three years now. They have an amazing selection for very reasonable prices. I lived a few blocks away and ordered in constantly. The portions were large and sides were cheap, so I had food for a week! Even though the sushi is very reasonably price, your dining experience there makes it seem like a nice date place. I've gone on 6 different first dates there! My only suggestion for improvement would be that the tables were more spread apart so you couldn't hear the conversation of other people! Try the avocado salad: Best ever!

Wonderful udon!

By lhamilt77 |

We've been on an udon soup kick, so when I saw that Fuji Mountain offered a variety of options we were all in. I tried the tempura udon - wonderfully flavored, with the classic umami twist. And I also appreciated that the tempura wasn't only shrimp, they had a selection of shrimp, sweet potato and broccoli. I also tried the spicy beef gyoza, yum!!

Great sushi's - Good service

The food is a four but the service is a two

By cassandra2009 |

Been coming here off and on for years. Last time we were there for a late lunch. Within an hour and ten minutes, we were told they were closing for the afternoon and abruptly asked to leave.. Normally, I would be loathe to keep someone hanging around at end of their shift,, but if you are closing within an hour and a half, you should tell the patrons that before seating them. Pity, because they are not a bad sushi place. If you go, the spicy tuna sushi "sandwich" is always good.

Sang the night away! Karaoke

By Hayley724 |

Fugi Mountain offers private rooms for parties which includes Karaoke. We attended a birthday celebration last night in the 2nd floor bar and we had a great time. I understand Fuji Mt was very accommodating and flexible with the booking process and the room was perfect for our party of 20 people. We did not eat there so I can't comment on the food but our bar service was excellent (private bar in our room) and the service was so friendly from the moment we walked in all the way through our obnoxious karaoke charades until 1:30am. Really impressed by the team servicing our event. There is a $15 parking lot directly next to the restaurant for parking. Very convenient and one of the cheaper lots in the area. Drinks were reasonable - $10 martini, $8+ wines Very clean and pretty decor.

Another Good Restaurant

By saramatthews |

Philadelphia offers many good restaurants and Fiji Mountain is fairly considered another of them. On the smaller side, it's also a quieter place and offers an extensive menu. The food is good, the service gracious and prices are reasonable. There's every good reason to give this place a try.

Always a good go-to spot for dinner.

By Heather W |

I don't frequently go to the Barber shop with my husband, but when we do, we typically leave hungry. And right across the street: Fuji Mountain, like a beacon of delicious happiness. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh, delicious, and usually enough for leftovers. Our kids are finally getting in to sushi, so we're going to have to start ordering more rolls, and possibly stop ordering from the hot menu. But for this last visit: we started with miso soup and salad (always a crowd pleaser -- for some reason I cannot match their ginger dressing anywhere!!!), followed promptly by edamame (so fresh, it comes out too hot to touch!). Then my husband and I split a mango roll, Mexican roll, and I honestly can't remember the third one - but they were delicious (had to stop my son before he ate all of my share!). The kids had the chef favorite: crunchy chicken, which I dove into, to make up for my missing sushi: DE-LICIOUS! We ended the night with fried bananas, which to our surprise came with fried ice cream as well -- it was like a funnel cake, ice cream, banana party! So good. I also forgot to mention, that this is not a byob, so there is a drink menu -- I feel like this is harder to come by these days! All around winning dinner. Can't wait to go back!

Awesome and Flavorful!!

By dMoniqueRenee |

The food here was exceptional. This five course meal was amazing. Starting with Kinoko soup, Salmon Skin Salad, Mixed Sashimi, Wild Mushroom Seabass with basil mash potatoes, asparagus. I could not devour it all because I could not wait cool down with the Red Bean Ice Cream. It was really delicious. I only regret I had to catch a flight and did not want to tote left overs through TSA!

Sushi good...not great but cooked food an issue

By rcorrao |

I was a little disappointed - I was there for a business dinner and my guest ordered the cooked tuna steak - which he said was off - so he didn't touch it - the server asked how things were, we were honest...sushi good (not great) but we weren't taking chances - she said, oh, can I get you something else - so he ordered a single sushi order - when the bill came - both were on the bill. So, I've had better - service and sushi...

Bravo Fuji Mountain!

By DelawareMama2x |

We recently booked Fuji Mountain for our daughter's Sweet 16 party and I am so glad we did. What a gem. It was the perfect restaurant for our celebration. I loved its location and the character of the building makes it unique. They have a parking lot adjacent to the building. The upstairs private room, which included a private bathroom, was ideal for her party. The food caliber and presentation were truly outstanding. We opted for the prix fixe menu for the kids which gave a lot of diverse options for dinner and kept the price reasonable. They also were flexible, especially with food allergies, and had dishes especially made to accomodate with no additional cost. The service was impeccable. The karaoke machines were great and the song selection was expansive. I have to give a nod to managers Roger and Sam because it is clear that customer service is the highest priority to them, and they take great pride in giving customers the best experience. Roger even called me personally (on his night off i might add) after the event to make sure I was happy with everything that night. You just do not see that level of service too often nowadays so it makes the fact that they care and deliver like that even more significant. I am extremely grateful to both of them for their professionalism, and for making our daughter's night so special. And to those who preceded me who had anything negative to say in their reviews, you really need a reality check. Fuji Mountain is up there with the best of Philadelphia. If you love karaoke and high quality sushi, make sure you visit Fuji Mountain ~ you won't regret it.

Good Japanese Food

By Commodore2010 |

This was the second Japanese restaurant of the night since the first was not as advertised. Fuji Mountain has a nice bar and excellent seating upstairs. The food was fresh even for a Sunday night. The tempura was cooked well with a nice balance of crunchy tempura batter to hold the sauce but not heavy. Tataki portion was large and seared just right. The ponzu was just a touch strong but still good. Maki sushi was wrapped perfectly to just hold the roll together and not crush the rice. Will be back on our next visit to the city.

Are we there yet?

Fuji Mountain is in Tokyo, Japan. It is a volcano in Japan. The view was very good, It was full of snow. It attracted me to go there. Fuji Mountain is the highest mountain in Japan. It is 3,776 meters high. It is a charming place with a lot of tourists. But I think the bad thing is when there are a lot of tourists, it makes the peaceful area change. I was very impressed with this place. I recommend it as a place to go. It’s wonderful and if you don’t go then you’ll miss it. I think people should seize an opportunity to visit . We don’t wait for it but it is waiting for us.

Great place for a party! Fantastic staff!

By moyoma66 |

We celebrated my sister’s 50th birthday yesterday with a group of 30+ friends and family in their large private karaoke room. The karaoke was a blast and the food and drinks were great, too. What made the evening truly fun and memorable however were Max and Sam, the two bartenders assigned to serve us. They were super accommodating with our large and sometimes demanding group. Multiple random food orders arrived quickly throughout the night and we never had to wait for drinks. Their good humor throughout the night was greatly appreciated by all. My only regret for the evening was that I didn’t book soon enough to have allowed us more time there. They were booked solid so we took the 3 hour slot that was available. If you are looking for a truly memorable spot to spend an evening with friends, this is your spot. Smaller rooms are available! Book early.

Excellent food, even on Valentine's Day!

By Stellar7225 |

My husband and I were in Philadelphia as tourists and, after a long morning/early afternoon of touristy things, we needed a late lunch. It was my birthday and I wanted sushi...we used Google to find a place nearby and this was it. We got to Fuji Mountain around 4pm and there was only one other couple seated. We were asked if we had a reservation and I hesitated and said, "No...did we need one...?" I looked again at the one couple sitting in the dining room but the host quickly said that it wasn't a problem and brought us to a table. I was handed a rose and he said, "Happy Valentine's Day!" and couldn't believe that I forgot that my birthday was Valentine's Day! Duh! I NEVER go out to eat on my birthday because there is such a stigma about sub-par Valentines menus and "specials". We were starving though and there was no turning back now! The food was incredible! We got edamame as a little appetizer and split a massive sushi platter that we ended up bringing home because we couldn't finish it. The dessert was also some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Red bean? Never heard of it, but it was delectable. It was expensive (well, compared to an $8 burger from any other restaurant) simply because it's sushi-you always pay more for sushi. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants good sushi! Great place and friendly staff! I wish I lived in Philadelphia so I could go back!

Came to Philly for a long MLK weekend. Was looking for a nice sushi restaurant for Saturday evening. Ended up walking into Murimoto at 9 PM and was told an 11/2 hour wait. Must say the place looked more like a NYC lounge than a restaurant. I guess this is why the price of the food is very expensive. Hence, we mad our journey over to Fuji Mountain and could not have been happier. Nice quiet restaurant with a real Japanese feel to it. Friendly staff and the sushi was very good at reasonable prices. Really all depends what you are looking for. If it's a bar scene Murimoto might be the place to go. But if you are looking for a good Japanese meal, you will not be disappointed at Fuji Mountain.

Very Good Japanese Food but...

By FMTalks |

Food is very good. The inattentive service is why I didn't give this a 5. Server was pleasant but not as attentive as she should have been for the price.

Yummy but expensive

By Shoval D |

I really like this place. The sushi is phenomenal, and I'm always happy after a meal here. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because it can get pretty pricey.

Amazing Japanese Food!

By Kristen P |

Went for restaurant week 1/20/13. Hubby had been before, I had not. Some restaurants don't really step it up for this event but Fuji Mountain did. Miso soup and Mushroom soup were both very well done and I dislike mushrooms. Salads were crisp, fresh and had the best salad dressings ( I bought some to take home). Lobster ravioli was to die for. You could taste everything, the lobster, the gravy, just delicious. The Spicy, steamed mussels (again, not a fan), were wonderful! Hubby had sushi for the entree and I had Fuji BBQ. Both were just above the top amazing. For dessert, the green tea ice cream and red bean ice cream were a nice end to such a fabulous dinner. 5 stars all the way.

Late Night Sushi!

By Rm_1272 |

So I was at the South Street Diner eating my second dinner and not really feeling satisfied when my Blackberry came through and found Fuji Mountain (though earlier in the night it did not find me too many options and that was how I ended up at the diner in the first place), and I had an hour before last call for food at 12:45 am. While it did not appear trendy nor was it exactly inexpensive, the food was quite good. The Inferno roll was excellent, not too small or too large (I detest wide/tall rolls) and the food temperatures were controlled well. The sashimi was good, save the salmon pieces had a bit of a chilled frozen texture. The service was friendly and prompt. I am against the principle of charging for hot teas (cheap) at Asian restaurants, the $1 per person charge here is a little annoying but not a big deal. I am grateful that this place is open until 12:45 am for food even on weekdays.

One of my favorite Sushi places

This place has a large selection of saki. Sushi of course is made to order and this place here I have had so my best experiences in the city. Food and fish are good and fresh. Staff is professional yet funny. I will visit again and again.

Very good Japanese food

By Philly family traveler |

Very good Japanese food in a great location in Philly. Very friendly staff. Good for families and for couples. Quality sushi and options for vegetarian diners. Sit on first floor for best atmosphere and open space. Second floor can be loud and there is Karaoke. Salad dressing is delicious and very good edamame.

Good and fast service

By AllUSAGrl |

I visited at the recommendation of the hotel I was staying at. I was sat right away as it was early in the evening and I appeared to be the only guest at the time. I thought the cocktails were expensive ($10ea) for the quality. The sushi was of good quality and taste but sliced very thin. Total bill came to about $35 for 5 pieces of sushi and 1 cocktail. Only real problem I experienced were the small flies annoying me as I tried to eat.

Great Sushi & Service

By Cheryl L T |

Great little spot for Sushi, etc. We shared the Course A meal with a couple of extra items and it was MORE than enough for two people. Crispy spring rolls, great miso soup and a delicious spicy specialty roll. Waitstaff was very patient in explaining and answering questions! Thanks for a great experience!

Very Fresh Sushi and friendly service

By Francis S |

My daughter and I were visiting colleges in the area and wanted sushi tonight. Although there seemed to have been many choices in the neighborhood we were glad to have chosen Fuji Mountain! The food was fresh, tasty, and prepared by a skilled staff and served by a friendly waitress. We will definitely go again when in Philadelphia. Enjoy!

Delicious food and selection!

By Christina173 |

We stopped by this restaurant yesterday after a day out in the city. Doesn't look like much from outside but very cute Asian style welcomes you once across the threshold. The selection of food and drinks was great! We enjoyed everything - from Cucumber Zest to the Inferno Roll. Check it out!

Seven course chef's tasting menu is fabulous!

By tammyf |

My friend invited me to share a Groupon for Fuji Mountain's tasting menu. The meal was incredible! The courses kept coming out, one more delicious than the next. I hope to return there sometime, probably for a special occasion, and pay full price for the tasting.

We eat sushi in many places and Fuji Mountain never disappoints. From the avocado salad to the mushroom soup to the sushi! All delicious!!! Try the Inferno roll!!!! Ask for Hanna on Saturday or Sunday! She is a delight to see and she always has a smile!

Really good rolls!

By Anya K |

We came to Phily at 1 a.m. And we were looking for a good place that was still working. So we chose Fuji and weren't wrong. The rolls were really good and due to some mistake and delay in the kitchen the waiter brought us soup. The decorations looked good and place in general was nice

Great Sushi in Center City

By Ms R |

This sushi was great! It was a clean establishment. We were greeted promptly. Their selection is vast. We got the combo that included an appetizer and soup. The salmon skin was amazing! All the rolls we got (about 6) were great. The tempura ice cream came with the meal, however, we got the green tea tempura ice cream, so there was a $2 upcharge. It was very worth it. Parking is scarce but if you're up for the walk, it's worth it.

Reliable for sushi and sashimi

By paddler50S16 |

Fuji Mountain is a well-established restaurant on Chestnut Street, somewhat more upscale than the nearby sushi restaurants, larger, better laid out. The staff is knowledgable, the fish well prepared and attractively served. The offerings outside of the sushi and sashimi are fairly limited.

Very Fresh Sushi, Great Karaoke

By DrSSmithBrown1 |

I just left this place and I had a BALL! The sushi is beyond fresh, the prices are reasonable, the karaoke was fun and the place is very clean. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it took me quite a while to get my order. It could have been because it was about 20 of us but others in our party got there food much quicker than I. Other than that, AWESOME PLACE

Great place to hang out and catch up

By Tabitha G |

This place is very cozy and it feels like home. My friends and I can talk for hours here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have late night munchies like udon. I would love to go here for dinner. They have a sushi bar downstairs and also a karaoke section. Definitely need another outing to this place!

One of my "happy places" in the city.

By Heather W |

Whenever my husband takes my son to the barber, I grab my daughter and tag along because it is across the street from Fuji Mountain. I hope that SOMEONE will say "I'm hungry" so we can hop across the street for the BEST sushi. If you're going to go during prime dinner hours, I would suggest making reservations -- unless you don't mind and can grab a seat a the sushi counter. We've had the fortune of good timing and can usually get seated immediately or within 10 minutes. I'm fond of the special rolls, and usually order 3 to share between myself and my husband. The kids usually roll with a noodle dish. Add-on some salad and miso soup, and you've got the perfect combination for a satisfied family -- and maybe some left-overs (though there is NEVER leftover sushi... so. good.) The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The location is clean and beautiful. Can't wait to go back.

Good place for lunch

By Bruce H |

Excellent service, nice decor. Food was good, if not great. I had spring roll appetizer, which had too much grease and should have been crisper. My companions had breaded octopus and liked it. A bento box with "salad" (ginger dressing on lettuce) fried pork dumplings ( wrong for a vegetarian entree!) and teriyaki tofu with veggies. Best part was fresh ginger garnish. Entreè was okay but no better than your cheaper neighborhood Japanese place.

Sushi and udon

By Chad E |

Hidden gem. Great sushi, great service, fantastic udon. They have Groupon deals pretty frequently as well which makes for a great deal.

Nice sushi place

By AnyaKova |

We came here looking for a place to eat after midnight. Well I can say I chose wisely. We really enjoyed rolls and due to some mistake in the kitchen waiter brought us soup! That was a nice gesture :)

Front End Extremely Rude Sushi Good

By ok12345 |

We were told when we entered we could not sit at a booth despite their being 3-4 available, the front end man was extrememly rude and unwelcoming. The servers were decent the wine was horrible at $8 a glass and the sushi was good: yellow tail, eel, several specialty rolls with oysters and crab. With so many other sushi places to choose from and being new to the area we won't be back because of unwelcoming service and horrible wine.

Food is good and reasonable

By Travel&Food |

The food is good and very fresh but the service is not good. We were seated upstairs but had to wait for 15-20 mts before someone came over! There were a lot of communication gap though the food was really good The spaces are private but not fancy which is ok on my opinion What mattered is the food and service. The food was great but the service was awful !

Never fails to please

By Robert C |

We are Center City Philadelphia residents and Fuji Mountain is our default "go to" place when we want to eat well at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and greets everyone who walks through the door. It isn't a big place, but there is ample room between tables and , Thank the Lord. it is reasonably quiet, even when most of the tables are full. I'm a big fan of Shrimp Tempura and try it whenever we we eat Japanese food. FM's dish is among the best. The crisp panko coating is oil-free and one can make a meal of the Shrimp Tempura Appetizer and a bowl of very good Miso Soup ($ 2.00). In fact you can eat well, have a beer and still only face a bill hovering at about $ 20.00. The Tuna dishes are always fresh and in generous proportions. The noodle dishes are bathed in tasty but not over-salted sauces. We visit FM at least twice a month and never fail to enjoy it.

Sushi is the Star

By aedwardr |

Come to Fuji Mountain for the sushi. Sushi is the reason to eat here. Their sushi is fresh hit still managed to met in your mouth. It's not the cheapest sushi you can find. I ordered sushi regular, a roll and nine pieces chosen by the schedule which many sushi locations offer. And it was $3-5 dollars more than I'm used to paying for sushi regular. But it was worth the extra money. They have a full bar but we didn't have alcohol. Fuji Mountain offers a substantial variety of Soju (which is Korean for what it's worth) and Japanese Sake. I do not recall any sake options for less than $15 though, and most were $20 or more. My wife had a vegetarian sushi assortment, and it was both yummy and pretty. My 5 year old daughter, 8 year old son and father in law had chicken dishes (such as teriyaki chicken), and there was nothing memorable about their meals. The female staff all wear fairly cheap looking kimonos. Some people might say this adds character, but I think it looks a little cheesy.

Wonderful sushi at a great price. You'll never be served a bad piece of fish. The rolls are creative and so is the sake list. All the servers and managers are helpful and educated about the food they serve. It's always nice to visit a restaurant where everything from the food to the management is organized. A place like Fuji is hard to come by these days...
