To be honest, I always go to the sushi side of the restaurant, but the hibachi side does a brisk business and folks look happy. I love to go either with a friend after yoga or on my own to treat myself after a long week at work. The restaurant is divided into two sides, so that if you want a quiet sushi meal you can relax without the bustle of the hibachi side. The fish is always very fresh and the flavors in the rolls are very well-balanced. My favorite rolls are the Caterpillar and the Spider. I love the scallop and the sea bass sushi a la carte, as well. The service is great, the staff friendly and there are happy hour discounts, too!

We arrived at six thirty on a Saturday night. We were seated after a thirty minute wait but then our chef didn't show for another thirty. When he did arrive, we still didn't have our soup or salad, nor sushi. Food was good, show was entertaining or I would have lowered the score. We won't be back.

Two co-workers and I had lunch at Fujiyama Japanese Steak House. We ordered from the lunch menu. One co-worker and I ordered the hibachi chicken $11. My other co-worker ordered hibachi shrimp $13. Each of our meals came with grilled vegetables, steamed rice and onion soup or salad. The soup was nothing special. I wish I had ordered the salad like my co-workers. Our chef cooked fried rice on the grill. He made extra so I decided to substitute the white rice for the fried rice. That change cost $3. We enjoyed watching the chef cook our menus on the grill in front of us. We enjoyed our meals but it was a little pricey for lunch.

We visited here whilst staying at our daughters in Austin. The atmosphere was good and the food cooked in front of us on the hot plate was excellent and plenty of it and very good quality

Came in a couple of times as it was close to my hotel - great for quick and easy meal - quality was good - loved the sushi. It's split into two halves - if you want the big show of the hibachi grill that's the other side - but on my own the table service or bar was fine

The food and service were fine. The prices are a little high for smaller portions of food. The reason I’m giving it 2 stars is due to the manager. You should totally look into getting another one. Went for dinner tonight, there were 3 of us by the way, and the bill was almost $150. The waiter was busy, and we’d been waiting for a while for the check and were ready to leave. Part of the mistake is on me, as we didn’t double check the bill. However, once I got home and double checked, I saw we were overcharged. Hibachi dinners and combination dinners include steamed rice ($3 extra if you want fried rice), vegetables, and a soup or salad (If you get both you have to pay $3 extra for the other). We each got one soup, no salads. I called in when I realized we were charged extra for that. Manager was totally rude. I asked to be refunded and he said no. Told me there’s no way to tell if I lied. So I said, I can drive back and we can get your server and double check. He explained that if you don’t point it out right at the time you receive it, they will not refund you anything. Said “I mean I guess I can give you a free soup next time if that’s what you want”. I asked for someone else, and apparently he’s the only manager. Chose to hang up on me. Sad way to run your business. Your manager has no idea how to talk to people. You just lost yourself a frequent customer. Last time I’ll ever give you all my money.

We had (3) rolls: Crunch, Tropical and Shrimp. They were all excellent. The service was very good, it was just across 183 from our hotel, and it was moderately priced. Definitely will visit again when we are in the area.

I recommend a grill seat to watch them prepare the food and immediately serve on your plate. We had the hibachi chicken and hibachi steak; all was delicious.

Went for New Year's Eve. Despite the fact they were very busy, the staff was friendly and attentive. Typical habachi style dining but really enjoyed the company of strangers who became fast friends. Food was fresh and well prepared. I had the Filet and Scallops and both were very tasty. Great selection of Japanese beers, Saki, and plum wine. Plan to go back and take my kids with me soon.

My wife and I come here from time to time. We like to sit on the sushi side of the resturant and always get good service and food.

Our first time here was Labor Day weekend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The place is very unassuming from the outside and somewhat small (but cozy) on the inside. I must say that from the moment we walked in until we left, the customer service was amazing! Everyone greeted us pleasantly as we walked in and even as we left. The chef was superbly entertaining and even graciously handled a food allergy request. The server had a great sense of humor and was efficient. The food was amazing! Because of our large group, we pretty much had every item on the menu and everyone loved their food. Nice job Fujiyama!!

Overall - Very good, non-pretentious service - Food is delivered quickly and is well-presented - Not expensive - Fresh and consistent - Would come back I've only been to the sushi side as I've done the hibachi and teppanyaki at other places multiple times. The host, server, and others are very prompt and treat you well, although they may "over-serve" a bit and come by a bit too much sometimes. The sushi seating area is not big, so might not work for large groups, but the room has a nice effect of accenting the wooden tables with black tops on them. The chairs are nice and the tables are set far enough apart so that you don't get bumped into as you may in other restaurants. Because the space between the sushi area and the teppanyaki area is open, you will hear the noise from the other side, so this is probably not the place to have a quiet dinner. The teppanyaki side, of course, would be perfect for those group dinners or special occasions. There is a small sushi bar where you can sit and watch the sushi chef, who is quiet and observant. Seemed very proper and the staff there seemed eager to please. The onion soup is one of the best I've ever had, although the name is a bit of a misnomer as it is a simple yet extremely well-made clear soup with some scallions and a few other ingredients in it. I would definitely order it over the miso, not that the miso soup is bad, but the onion soup is excellent! Sushi pieces are reasonable in size and price. Generally if you like sushi, you shouldn't be disappointed...enjoy!

If you love the other "B" place that shut down in Austin, then you will like this teppanyaki even more. The service is great! The food is excellent! The entertainment from the chef is fun! I'm all about saving a buck so we always go for lunch and have hibachi lunch combos, which come with iced tea. You can order either salad, miso soup or the traditionl onion soup, which is a great option rather than having one standard soup as other places have. I always ask for extra garlic butter on my hibachi rice and their ginger sauce is delicious. At the end of the meal, if they haven't already given you one, make sure to ask for the complimentary sushi on a stick lollipop for your kids.

I've read a lot of not so great reviews, but we had a good time. The waiter and the chef were both very nice and attentive. The food was great and plentiful. We did make reservations but did not need as we got there as soon as the place opened at 5pm and were seated right away.

They have a sushi HH...it is not really anything special...we ordered off the HH menu. Service was friendly and prompt. But, like I said, it was OK. Spent $65 and was still hungry. ;-(

When we used to live in Austin we are at Fujiyama all the time. Visiting for Christmas while living abroad, we ate there after a 9 year absence. The food was all still as good as we remembered.

Wasn't sure how this was going to go with our littles who like what they like (and it's the same same same everyday), but we gave it a shot with Grandma and Grandpa and it was GREAT! The chefs are very entertaining and the onion volcano and egg tricks were huge hits! I was even informed that our daughter would like to "come back every night for dinner".

Just like Benihana, with a harder name.

We try to eat at this place at least two or three times a year when we visit family in Austin, TX. It has a fun atmosphere and the chefs are great to interact with. The food is delicious, so plan on going when you are hungry...you get a lot of food! It is best to call ahead and if you are meeting 6 or more people there, make sure they all arrive on time (the hostess will not seat you until your entire party is there). It is a little pricey, but worth the money for special occasions! It is loud as all of the hibachi tables are open in a big room, so it would be difficult for meetings.

The service was excellent, but the food was not. Fried rice was the best part of the meal. We ordered the Fujiyama roll - it tasted like gas station sushi. Also had hibachi, steak and chicken. Both meats were tough. The ginger sauce was very good, the white sauce tastes like horseradish and is soupy.

We have never eaten at the restaurant but we get takeout chicken hibachi and fried rice often. It's a little on the pricey side if you are expecting Chinese food prices.

Our party of 10 ate at Fujiyama's in Austin on May 9. I was really impressed. Our chef, Jose, was wonderful and very accommodating with a large group. The food was delicious and Jose was a skilled chef and showman. Great experience and I would definitely go back if I'm ever in Austin again.

We were looking forward to eating at this Japanese steak house as it was highly recommended by relatives. Overall, we were very satisfied with the hibachi and the quality of the food. We had the sea scallops, the shrimps, and the chicken. It's always a pleasure to watch the chef cooking it all in front of you. However, the "show" was very limited compared to the table next to ours. The chef could have been a tiny bit more enthusiastic. The prices were good. On a negative note, you have to pay extra for the fried rice. We'll come back for the great quality of the food and the rest of the entertainment.

We love the Hibachi Restaurants. The whole experience is not just a meal, it is the entertainment as well. A good Hibachi Chef will thrill with his knife & spatula skills & tricks. Fujiyama has a great staff that achieves this. The filet was cooked a perfect rare as ordered & was paired with sautéed vegetables & fried rice. Soup or salad are included as an appetizer. The meals come with 2 shrimp as well. A nice experience for a group of friends, or family. Reservations are advised.

Our party of 6 had hibachi, hibachi shrimp, and calamari. You choose between soup and salad. The salad dressing is a light dressing made w/fresh ginger, which is well done for the type with a fresh and interesting flavor. The salad is romaine lettuce, some carrot, a little red cabbage and 1/2 of a grape tomato. If you order fried rice, the chef prepares it on the grill at the beginning of the meal. There is an extra charge for the fried rice. I ordered steamed rice, which was served right after the soup or salad, so it was cold by the time the rest of the meal was prepared. It is Asian sticky rice. Next comes the hibachi shrimp appetizer, which is 3 small shrimp per person. I thought the shrimp was over done and tasted charred. The next course is the grilled veggies: white onion, button mushrooms, and zucchini. The onion and zucchini were still tender, crisp, but the mushrooms were overly done and tasted charred. The chicken was prepared next. I thought they used too much butter and soy sauce and that it was a little to dry on the outside. They prepared the shrimp next, then the calamari. All of my husband's other food was cold by the time he got his calamari, and the rest of us had almost finished our chicken or shrimp. The last bit of flourish is when the chef invited us to try to catch small bits of the shrimp in our mouth. The 7 year old grandson loved this! The place is fine for an unusual experience, but I would not go there again.

This is the first hibachi grill either myself or my husband have ever been to that charges extra for fried rice and makes you choose between soup and salad at the start! Our dinner ended up costing over $70 and all we had was the grill, a spicy tuna roll to split and a beer each!! The food was ok // nothing spectacular and definitely not worth $70! The best thing about the experience was our hibachi chef, who was very entertaining and fun - but even so, we probably won't be back.

This is one of our favorite places to eat. My 5 year old loves the show, the fire and of course the onion choo choo train. I was a bit disappointed this visit as they have changed their menu and you no longer get soup and salad before dinner it's either/or. Also just a tip, if you have a picky eating child like I do, order yourself one meat and order the other off the children's menu for your child instead of ordering a combo meal. That way your kids get to eat the rice, veggies, and soup or salad and you can have the protein that they won't eat, for less money. I can say I have never had a bad meal here. Expect to have a high bill, most meals are $20 or more. Each table can seat up to 20 people and they have 4 or 5 hibachi tables in the main room. Everything is cooked with onions in it, but you can ask to have your meal prepared without them should you choose.

Decent food. Very crowded the Sunday night we went. Had to wait too long a time before before the main course was served. Though we were the second table waiting, later occupants were served main course ahead of us. Extremely noisy. Good chef, quite talented, very accomodating. Waiter was very nice but had to wait on many other Hibachi tables. He worked very hard.

The food was prepared on a grill built into the table by a showman. The food was excellent, and the show was compelling. We ate slowly and fully enjoyed everything. Even the teenagers were kept engaged. Not for a quick dinner.

Yes, the Teppanyaki steak is similar to Benihana (which I like), but the prices here are very reasonable and I would say the flavor even surpasses Benihana is some regards. Highly recommended.
Excellent Hibachi
Had dinner with friends and family had sushi, tempura shrimp and California rolls for appetizer and shrimp hibachi. Sushi was excellent very fresh and wonderful presentation. We had the house special tempura California rolls which was new for me and it was a wonderful rich taste. Hibachi was well prepared and came with all bells and "whistles". Overall had a great experience will be back.
