We walked in to a restaurant that was already busy. Which was not a bad thing. It shows that great food is being made. Servers and management team members were taking care of their guests. Food was being served hot and fresh. Such a huge variety of foods to choose from. So explore. Take a bit of time to look at the menu and select a few items. Then wait for the Dim Sum cart to go around and choose a few more items. Made fresh and steamed to perfection. Big serving. With plenty of leftovers for later on in the night.

I've a dinner gathering with my friend in this restaurant on a weekday. We came early and arrived at 6pm PT - there is no need to wait as there are many tables. If you however have a large group of people coming, it is better to make advanced reservation. The restaurant sells Cantonese style dishes and dim-sum. They even sell dim-sum during the dinner time even though people in Hong Kong usually eat dim-sum in the breakfast, brunch and lunch. The food is really great - very traditional Cantonese style - and the price is reasonable. The service is fairly good too. No need to worry parking because there is a large parking space around.

We were here for its soft opening and the place was crowded both inside & outside. The wait was over an hour, but it was worth it. The staff was very apologetic because it was their first day and they were trying to figure out the best way to serve the customers. The carts with the dim sum were understandably disorganized, but once served & eaten, they were very delicious. Aside from dim sum, you can also order ala carte from the menu. Parking was full and we had to park in the Target Shopping area. No big deal though. Overall, very good experience.

We came for lunch on a weekday and were seated right away. Not busy at the time so dimsum carts started coming and we were able to choose our favorites and started eating in no time. We also ordered a few dishes from their a la carte menu which didn't take too long either. Everything tasted as expected, nothing that stood out from other Chinese dimsum restaurants we've been to. You might experience a little bit of an issue with some servers and staff who are limited in their English. Just remember that patience and humor can go a long way in bridging the "dimsum" gap. Enjoy!

The service was well done. Each meal (tofu, fish, and meat dishes) were delicious! The beer was tasty (budda), I'll go there weekly.....!! Stev

I went there for soft opening, but there is only 4 steam kart to server over 30 tables, and the working is lack of memory, if you were setting towards the parking, there is no karts came by you have to ask the server to grab them for you, not a pleasant lunch feels like going to a war zone for some dim sum

The dim sum was OK. Nothing to write home about. The lotus wrap sticky rice was good and the Siu mai was good. The pork roll in rice noodle was terrible. It was not fresh but they said it was made fresh. The noodle was hard and it was still cold from not steaming long enough. Just OK food. We are used to NY Chinatown dim sum where it is freshly made daily.

This is a place with a comfortable, pleasant ambience. Lots of dim sum restaurants, that have good food, are dumpy, shop worn, unkempt and uninviting. So noting the good ambiance is important. One of the people in our party can not eat wheat, and they were attentive to assure that she did not order offending food. Again, lots of Chinese restaurants really don't get it, or really simply don't understand, and rather than say that they don't understand, they say "yes, yes" and ignore what they were told. Then the food: in my opinion, the dim sum was very good. I saw a duck - a large duck - brought out to a table of about a dozen people. It looked and smelled wonderful. Now I have a mission: getting about 6 or more friends together and ordering Peking Duck. Yummy!

Went with 2 friends for lunch. Dim Sum. They offer Dim Sum all day. We were seated promptly. It did not take me long to realize I was in the minority. We were treated well by all staff. The Dim Sum Carts had good variety, and everything looked fresh. Don’t over order on the first pass as the carts come around frequently. Three friends or multiples there of is good as portions seem to be for three people. We ordered a variety of items and enjoyed all but one which we found to be to salty. The waitress offered to remove the charge, but, our friend who treated said it wasnt necessary. We were not rushed. Had a lovely time.

Golden Island Dim Sum in Mira Mesa is the closest we’ve found to our favorite Hong Kong dim sum (One Dim Sum in Prince Edward). Prices are higher than average, but the quality and execution make it worth the splurge. On our lunch date we ordered nine dishes plus jasmine tea, and every one impressed. Highlights included crisp Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, golden salt and pepper chicken wings, plump pork & shrimp siu mai, delicate xiao long bao, and a standout fried eggplant with scallop. The chicken feet were rich and satisfying, the tripe aromatic, and the spareribs savory (though they could have been a touch more tender). Generous portions, vibrant flavors, and polished execution make this a destination spot for dim sum lovers in San Diego.

Came back the 2nd time after about a year for lunch with friends. Things are much better than my last time here. I came here last year shortly after it finally opened. The dim sum was just OK and the service wasn't too orderly, as the team was still trying to find their way around after the long-delayed grand opening. My 2nd experience was much better, especially with the food. The dim sum is somewhat better. But the regular entrees surprised me, exceeding my expectations actually. All the entrees are good. The chicken and duck were particularly good. The service was also better than last time. I guess they've evolved over the last 12 months. I may come back again.

I spotted this restaurant and decided to just try it out. I did not realize that this restaurant concentrates on dim sum - not my particular liking. I ordered the Mongolian Beef. It was okay. But expensive for lunch $15.99. When I got the bill, it seemed high. Then I noticed that they charged me for two orders of tea. Not sure if that was a mistake, but they corrected it.

We were able to get seats right away; probably because we were there after the lunch crowd. The service was a bit better, probably because of the lunch rush was over. Dim Sum was very good. But, as usual, everyone had their critiques of the dishes. Would go again!

This restaurant can easily be the best dim sum and 5 stars restaurant in the San Diego with an improving in service and tables arrangement. Very much you will not go wrong with any dim sum dish that you choose. Their siu mai and shrimp rolls are my favorite dim sum here. I just wish they hire better waiter and waitress and improve their table setup so we don’t have to sit next to other table and hear their chewing.

I have been going here since they opened a few years ago. Gen Mgr Michael runs a great resto , the only one in SD that serves dim sum from opening to close, 10 am to 10 pm. Always fresh, hot, tasty. Most dim sum items are on the carts circulating the dining room. But just order the exact item you want, they cook it fresh in the kitchen, and bring to your table piping hot. Their many other mandarin and Cantonese style dishes are tasty and authentic. It has a full bar, and can get busy during peak times, on weekends and holidays. Ample free parking here, unlike jasmine or china max on Convoy st. Prices here are more reasonable. Their hidden secret is great preparation of cha sui pork, chicken, Chinese roast duck. I have order their “Peking duck” , carved and served at your table, with hoisin sauce , cucumbers and scallions. Perfect. It’s really a two course dish, after the duck meat carving, they bring the remaining duck to enjoy as a meat entree for dinner. Good flavor and texture. Go eat and enjoy !!

We celebrated my dad’s 86th Bday here. Contacted the manager Michael a week prior to reserve a table for 15. Was happy to learn their biggest round table can actually seat 15 people!!! We ordered the “Banquet A” menu for 10 for $428. Peking duck was just ok- nothing to rave about. Most of us enjoyed the steak with pepper sauce the most, then honey walnut shrimp and BBQ combination. We couldn’t figure out the dessert: red bean purée with lotus seed soup- there was a weird taste of alcohol in it... Overall there was nothing exceptional about the dishes, kind of overpriced, and we found the fried rice a tad salty. I think the consensus among the group is not that favorable in terms of being return customers....

Food was great, prices fair, had the din sum which was excellent. Things came out of the kitchen very slow, but it was Christmas Day. Big place, casual

Excellent dim sum. This place is full on weekends, especially with Asian-Americans, so you know the food is excellent and authentic.

New comer but will climb up fast. Taste more to my likings, rather than the more oily version in Convoy. Steamed pork rib, pork bun and custard bun were my favourite. But all were superb. BBQ pork belly was great too but it could have been better with longer heating. Service is just like other Chinese restaurant, don't expect too much.

The food is delicious! But be prepared for a bit of a language barrier here. There are many servers moving quickly and may not understand what you want from the menu. Best to get the dim sum from the carts. All of the servers are polite and helpful. Just wish they had more time to explain the foods on the menu. We saw a big party who knew what they were doing; tried to find out their dishes from servers but they just didn't understand what we were trying to say.

What the experience. I live in the area and waited around for months for them to open. Saw the reviews of the soft open and decided to give them some time to get it together. Boy, they haven't. Came in for lunch in Sunday to check it out for lunch. We were seated right away. Now, we love dim sum, but were unfamiliar with the push cart way of doing things. As soon as we sat down, we had 2 carts show up and start asking us if we wanted any of the contents of the cart. I was excited at the idea of being able to start eating right away, but no one would explain how it all worked. We got about 4 things off the cart. EVERYTHING was ice cold. We'd been in the resturaunt about 10-15 minutes now, and hadn't seen a single server even think about approaching us. Now having had cold, disgusting food, and having been ignored for what most would consider to be a great deal of time, I tried to get a servers attention. When I said "excuse me," she didn't even look at me and just said "give me a minute," as she rushed by. Another 5 minutes goes by, and the waitress has yet to return. After another few minutes, I am fed up. I want my check and I can't find anyone to give it to me. I finally track down a waiter to take the check. He gives me an attitude and snatches it off the table. ANOTHER 8 minutes or so passes, and there's no sign of the check. I walk up to the hostess and essentially beg her to please help me so I can pay and leave. She did try to help find the check and apologized. I get it, she isn't responsible for what was happening in the dining room, but I was furious and had completely lost any amount of patience that I had. Spoke to a manager, absolutely no help. Claimed he was going to "investigate" and gave us 50% off. We were not asking for free food, we were trying to give them feedback on their establishment. I will never set foot in this place again. Do not waste your money on the worst customer service and cold, stale, flavorless dim sum.

Less Americanized version of Dim Sum with excellent fried rice. Service wasn’t bad and moved pretty quickly for a fast business lunch.

We have visited this new all day DIM SUM spot three times, and each time the experience improved exponentially! Service on our first visit was... Awful. BUT, our last visit was the best service we have received at any dim sum restaurant. The food was consistently good from our first visit to our last. The selection has improved as well. Remember at the time of all of my visits the location was under a soft opening. once the details are ironed out (which they seem to be nearly there) it will be one of our favorite dim sum spots in San Diego. Great Parking for SD too!

At first, We were so happy that there is a new Chinese restaurant offering dimsum in Mira Mesa finally. However, to our disppointment, there were only few carts going around , though you could order on the menu and the waiter would bring them to the table. The dimsum was not served hot and limited selections. Though the waiter was friendly, but we had to wave several times and call out to get his attention. This review is for the dimsum only, as we have not tried the regular menu yet. Not sure if we would be back.
Interesting and Nice Place
I liked this restaurant and will be back, but primarily to have the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. Best ever! Only downside was that they apparently are prepared to order as there was a 10 minute wait (I waited twice, they were so good), which I would guess is unusual for a staple dish. The rest of our dinner was all Dim Sum, except for fried Shrimp Egg Rolls - all of which were excellent. The store is unusual in that it is set up for parties/receptions. No room dividers except in the back. Wide open spaces. This is merely an observation not a criticism. Just unusual in my experience. One criticism however: the first round of dim sum came out room temp. Not good, particularly since this was an early dinner at 4:45. The next round came out just fine. Nonetheless, I am definitely coming back.
