Mouthgasm!

By degrawm |

Not sure if this is a newer restaurant in the harbor portion of San Diego (couldn't find it on Tripadvisor so I added it!) I've been to a few Brazilian steakhouses in the past. Some were good, some just ok, but this one blew all the ones I've been at out of the water. We arrived around 4:30 and the place was empty but it didn't stay that way for very long. They had a salad bar, with many different salads, cheeses, and hot options. If you can eat it go for it - but I was there for the meat! Staff was really friendly, our server was great with the wine selection. They came out pretty fast with the meat: beef, pork, lamb, shrimp, sausage and ribs everything was very juicy and tasty! I definitely recommend the grilled cheese (I believe it was a white cheddar) with honey. Top that with the roasted pineapple you just have a mouthgasm. The shrimp was so fresh and if you didn't see anything come out you can request it. They had salmon with passion fruit sauce - which was oh my God! Highly highly recommend.

Can't go wrong at the restaurant. A miss to go.

Wait persons were great. Had to call over a couple of meat skews that was missed at table. Food was excellent. I have been to two locations now.

Not the best!

Attended last night, very dark inside. staff seemed to mumble very fast, struggled to understand most of the waiters/gauchos. Salad bar was mediocre, why do you have to put cheese on everything that’s green? Meat wasn’t impressive, most that arrived was over seasoned or wrapped in bacon. I wouldn’t recommend this place! you can spend $100.00 per head and get much better food in the plethora of other local meat establishments and it will be much better!

Great spot for a very nice dinner with friends

By Brenda P |

We spent a week in San Diego visiting friends and to show our gratitude for their wonderful hospitality we asked if we could take them out to dinner. They picked Galpao Gaucho and what an excellent choice it was. The service was amazing, attentive but not intrusive and our server, Matheus was over the top friendly and helpful. The salad bar was fresh and delicious with so many choice we couldn’t begin to sample all. I wish I could have brought home a pocket full of the candied bacon. All the meat choices were very good but my particular favourites were the succulent shrimp and the Parmesan pork loin. There was no need to have dessert if you tried the delicious grilled pineapple. All of us enjoyed our meal and I can definitely recommend this restaurant. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Beat customer service, wait staff and food.

Best customer service, after walking in with no reservations the gentleman at desk told us he would get us in! From the greeting to food to amazing wait staff this was by far the best Brazilian Steakhouse I have ever been.

I felt at home!

We're gauchos. We're on vacation in San Diego. My brother had already come and spoke super well. We're at the hotel next door. There was no way not to know. And it was wonderful. From the service in Portuguese (I do not speak English), meats of excellent quality. We're gauchos. We understood meat and here it was like being at home. Buffet of salads, rice, beans, ... everything that reminds of the south of Brazil. We love the restaurant. All of first quality. Wonderful food. Nice environment. Wonderful service from Brazilian attendants. And the very soft meat.

A great restaurant

Wonderful! We ate very well. There's everything, even cheese bread. The price is salty, but it's worth it. We ate picay with gold leaf, and the service is sensational.

Favorite Brazilian Steakhouse in SD

By Pauline Steele |

I can say that out of all the Brazilian steakhouses in San Diego, Galpao Gaucho is my favorite one in terms of overall meat quality and service. Ambiance: They have lots of seats inside, a large patio with heaters, and I also noticed 2 rooms for private parties/events. We came with 7 people and I’d say they accommodate big groups well, just make reservations ahead of time. Service: They have lots of employees so service is top notch. You never have to wait for meats to be served. I appreciate how prompt they are, though some people might feel rushed from the constant serving. I do wish though that they pay attention to the green/red cards more. In the most recent time I went with a big group, most of us had red cards though the servers kept going around to each of us. I appreciated that our main server was attentive and asked us what meats we specifically looked for so we weren’t waiting around. Meats: My favorite was the Spicy Picanha with its fat caps and great flavor. I was surprised that the golden steak was part of the main price. They advertised it us being the only steakhouse that has 24 karat gold covered Picanha. I’d say most of their meats were cooked well. I loved that salmon and shrimp were also part of their menu. Other Foods: The cheese bread and the plantains served from the get go are so delicious. The cheese with honey and pineapple are some of my favorites and cleansed the palate between all the meats. Their salad bar is alright to me. Overall: I’ll come back to Galpao Gaucho again!

Probably the best Steakhouse in town

Probably the best Steakhouse in town. Amazing selection of meat. Grilled to the point. Attentive staff, beautiful location. Located in central San Diego. Also good for families with children. Delicious buffet! Decent collection of wines. From time to time a bit noisy.

Live entertainment was a hit

By Elvira C |

This is a fantastic Brazilian steakhouse. The food is absolutely delicious, and the wine is served to perfection. While the service could have started off stronger, it definitely improved once we ordered the bottle of wine. The live entertainment was a standout, and I really enjoyed the music. I will definitely come back and give it another try!
