Breakfast Shots

By Caroline P |

I went to Garage Kitchen + Bar as a suggestion from a friend for brunch. I went there on a Saturday, and we tried a few of the fun looking brunch shots they had listed on the top of their menu. They were surprisingly delicious! The venue looked very fun and "western" with the wooden walls and booth/ table setup. I had the brie and pear tart which was delicious, however the salad that came with the tart was a little overdressed. I'll keep that in mind next time I am over. The $8 mimosa set up is pretty cool, but I feel that the bottle that they provide isn't that good. If there were separate prices for a premium mimosa/champagne bottle service I would be more excited. However do not let that discourage you! I still give this place an 8/10! Definitely will be coming back here with some more friends!

Brunch with friends

By Angel F |

Great place with friendly staff. We went during brunch and tried the crab cake Benedict. It was presented well but missed the mark on flavor. The hollandaise sauce didn't have much flavor and seemed more like a garnish. The crab cake was really fishy and overpowered the dish. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and raved about them. Which is why I rated highly. Will try the pancakes next time.

Wasted 35 minutes

By Igor F |

I had high hopes for a pleasant evening at GARAGE Kitchen + Bar with its promising ambiance and scenic view from the second floor. Unfortunately, any enjoyment was eclipsed by abysmal service that bordered on neglect. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, offering a glimpse of what could have been a delightful experience. However, what followed was a staggering 35 MINUTES of being completely disregarded by the staff. Despite being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a Saturday evening, it seemed our table was invisible to the waitstaff. After patiently waiting for ten minutes without any acknowledgment, I took the initiative to flag down one of the servers, politely requesting to place our order. Their assurance of prompt service was hollow, as another ten minutes passed with no action taken. Observing other tables receiving attentive service only compounded our frustration. Feeling increasingly overlooked, we sought clarification on the delay, only to be met with indifference and a lack of apology. It became evident that our presence was an inconvenience rather than a priority for the staff. Regrettably, after enduring such disregard for our patronage, we made the decision to leave. The lack of accountability and basic courtesy displayed by the staff left a sour taste, overshadowing any potential the restaurant may have had. In conclusion, I strongly advise others to steer clear of GARAGE Kitchen + Bar. While the setting may be picturesque, the appalling service renders any visit a disappointing and regrettable experience.

Very good

By Jamesrvp |

As usual we had no plans for dinner but found this place as we were walking the streets of San Diego. The entrance looks inviting and so does the menu posted outside. We were seated by a friendly host and our server was also very friendly and welcoming. The variety on the menu is more than sufficient and it wasn't hard to find something to everybody's liking. I had the scallops with the porc belly and it was just great. They cook with local, sustainable ingredients and do it well. The ambience of the place is quite nice, obviously it's origin is a garage and that shows in the decoration. Highly recommandable.

Avoid at all costs

By bonmec |

Dropped in for breakfast one Sunday. The appearance and layout look interesting but it stops there. Ordered granola and fruit. Granola was out of a box and was given a thimble of milk, three blueberries and one sliced up strawberry. It took three tries to get milk to the table. My partner ordered eggs and bacon, all cold and the bacon was made in advance and sat in it's own grease before being served....cold. Not inexpensive either!! Very unclear who to ask for what, a lot of staff floating around but not helpful. Paid the bill which took a good 15 minutes and we were happy to leave.

Great brunch with mimosas!

By ABBaptiste |

We had a great brunch with friends today! I've enjoyed Happy Hour here, but this qas the first time tor brunch. We started with a bottle of champagne and carafe of oj, which at $8 is a deal! I had the San -Di-Cristo which was delicious. My husband had the Butcher's Burger that was also really good. Our friend's eggs for her Eggs Benedict were over cooked, which was a disappointment. The atmosphere waa fum with lots of tvs with sports on. We will definitely go back!

Just ok

By DesiraeMarie |

We ate here because the restaurant we originally wanted had a longer wait then we could do for lunch. Food and service were both ok. It wasn’t bad it’s just not a place I’d probably go to again.

Wash your hands!

By FCMichiganFans |

Stopped in for Happy Hour and the food was relatively good. However, a female bartender kept rubbing her nose and coughing and never washed her hands. It was disgusting and we made sure we didn't eat anything that she touched. The ambience is fine and the dueling piano bar next door was cool. Note to the owner..,cut fresh fruit every day (served old limes in drinks, but since bartender touched them I didn't use them anyway). Great happy hour prices.

Go for the Asian Spare Ribs

By dkrstec |

I don't remember anything else we had except their Small Places offering of Asian Spare Ribs. We even ordered another one! So...although nothing else we ate was even memorable, I had to give 4 stars for those unforgettable ribs!

Found our gem for "BLUNCH", as they call it

By cinctus |

After our Balboa Park tour, we were hungry and drove to the Gaslamp area. We entered the nearest parking ($2 per each 15 minutes, we found out later) and looked for a place to eat. Spouse came across this place, so we headed there (2 minutes from parking). The lunch crowd was in, but we found our table. We tried the Ahi Tuna Nachos...awesome. You have to try them, really flavorful. My kid had the flatbread, just cheese for $8, spouse had the pulled pork sandwich (appetising) and I had the fried chicken sandwich (hot and spicy, full of flavor). Fries are really good as is the music playing in the background. Their beer selection is nice too, and the service is even better. I would definitely recommend this place.

Bob's burger was great

By omgitsgale |

Had a quick lunch here, our waitress was great and the burger was excellent. Would recommend for their french fries! My wife is vegan so we were happy to find them serving the Beyond Meat burger on their menu.

Wonderful Place right on 4th Ave and G Streets. Great Happy Hour.

By SDSpartan |

Went here twice in one weekend - one for HH/dinner and then returned for brunch as we liked it so well. Funny I had walked past this place a few times and didn't even realize it was there - now I'm like "duh"! Glad we found it. As others have mentioned we were looking for a HH before a Saturday night Padres game - many places didn't have one but Garage Kitchen & Bar does! And it is awesome! 51% off all drinks (beers, wines, cocktails) and 51% off all apps. Awesome! Service was great and friendly. 1st time we sat in the bar area, second time in a booth. The place is 2 stories, but the 2nd story wasn't open when we were there, other than for what looked like a private party. Nice choice of some craft beers on tap and some nice wine choices. For brunch an $8 bottle of sparking wine plus a carafe of OJ! The apps we tried that were good were the grilled/smoked artichokes - large and tasty and we loved the mussels and clams dish. We would probably pass on the crab cakes next time. They were ok tasting, but we prefer a jumbo lump crab cake as there is less filler. For breakfast - the mushroom and truffle omelet is the bomb!!! Must try.

You have to try the Ahi Nachos

By LadyCinctus |

Stumbled upon this gem It was full from the lunch crowd The music was awesome as well the decor and the food WOW You can see amazing huge burgers and salads going by but the hands down star are the Ahi Nachos I had the pulled pork with fries... so so so good They even accommodated our very picky tween for a flatbread though we almost fought for my fries They were that good Its a cool awesome food joint Give them a visit Your wont regret it

Bottomless Mimosas ripoff

By Edward D |

Bottomless Mimosas?!? Terrible. They were all orange juice and sparkling water. We asked if we could have less orange juice and they said no because they were pre-made. Who pre-makes sparkling wine and OJ? We had about 4 glasses each and not even my friend who weighs 115 lbs felt a buzz. $20 scam for sparkling water and OJ.

Great burger

By Valeria Z |

Had dinner one evening when we were passing through the gaslamp quarter. Arriving half an hour before closing, after a few minutes we were left alone. We had a great burger with good service. I would stay here again

Great food, great service, and great live music

By HammerCdn |

Stopped in for dinner when the Shouthouse next door was packed. They had a great live act playing, the food was incredible and the service was fast and friendly. Came in for dinner and stayed for over 2 hours!

Enjoyed the Garage

By Eric |

I really enjoyed the Garage. Had some great food and the service was on par for a large group. Would certainly return to this restaurant.

Servers Seem Very Unhappy

By GLC66 |

Stopped by there today for Brunch just after noon time. Should have known something was afoot as the place had availability whereas everywhere else downtown had lines around the corner. Bottom line....servers seemed unhappy and bothered when having to work. Arrived and were given two seats on the rail, which was fine. After 8 minutes, 8 servers, bussers, manager walking by and not one stopping to say hello, offer to get drinks or a menu, Then a guy dropped off menus and we had to wait another 8 to 10 minutes before I went to the host and asked if he could get a server to take our menu. His response was that someone should have waited on us. I agree, but they didn't. Finally one of the bartenders came and said he was sorry but he throught one of the female servers had waited on us. Shoot, they didn't even look up this way when they walked by. Finally we order. I ask for decaf coffee and am told that they don't carry decaf. No worries, I went for the Proud Mary Bloody and my friend the Mimosa. One of the female servers "drops" off the drinks. I kid you not. She just plopped them down and left. She could have at least wiped up the bloody that spilled all over the counter when she did this. I had to go to the bar and get napkins to clean it up. We then order our meals when the bartender returns. One of the orders is the San DC cristo sandwich. The server comes back 5 minutes later to inform us that they are out of the cristo. He should have been informed of this before ordering. We choose another option. We get our meals, not bad, slightly above average. The fruit, though, was really fresh and presented well. The potatoes were crispy and tasteful. The Benny, was overall good, but the roasted tomato threw off most of the taste. During the meal, no one offered to refill the waters, ask if we would like another Mimosa or Mary, poor sales strategy here. We had to ask for the bill, as the 8-10 people, manager, working did not really touch the tables and create a warm and wanted atmosphere. On our way out, the host, the manager and a busser was there. The busser, thanked us for coming with a big smile. Nothing from the host or the manager. It is a shame, as the place is oozing with character and charm. I would suggest switch out the staff or retrain them on hospitality and upselling. The only smiling, genuine face was the busser with the beard on the way out.

Not bad brunch. Nice location

By branskim |

First stop when we arrived in San Diego was the Gaslamp Quarter for Brunch. Stopped at Garage Kitchen. Food was ok/average. They have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays so I was happy to have brunch on Saturday. Mimosas were a fair price. $8 for a bottle of champagne and a carafe of orange juice. There were plenty of baseball games on for those wanting to catch a game. Looks like they had a nice upstairs area for bar hour later in the day.

superb burgers

By meestar |

We went for lunch on a Saturday. Initially disappointed that they were only offering the brunch menu even though it was already about 2pm, but the only burger on the menu turned out to be fabulous. Served with bacon jam, which was amazing, and nicely-seasoned thin fries. Friendly service, fair price

super yummy chicken wings

By EatDrinknbMarried |

Stopped in for a cocktail and a snack and if the chicken wings are an indication of the rest of the food they were delicious and perfect. Had a 'cereal shot' which was new...Rum Chata, Fruit Loop flavored vodka and fruit loop garnish...it's like Horchata and very yummy (though I was laughed at by friends for being 'immature'). Nice atmosphere too

Good burger

By Heather |

I ordered the Bob's burger (white cheddar, lto, pickles & 1000 dressing) which was a special during Comic-con and it was good. However, once my server took my order I never saw him again. I had to find someone else to refill my drink and to give me my check. The woman that helped me was friendly and I appreciate her!

Food poisoning!

By Gyro5490 |

Food poisoning feb 15,2020 i think it was from the tomato bc my friend and i split the ahi tuna nacho app and game burger (cooked medium). We shared everything except i had the tomato sitting on top of the romaine. she was fine and I’m sick as a dog. I tried calling to tell them but was put on hold with a horrible screeching noise so i hung up

Fun place

By Jeffrey O |

Good food. Friendly people. Must good to Shout House and say hi to Tom Bagley and the other piano players

A very good place to go to get drinks and appetizers

By Randy C |

We went here for drinks and appetizers during half price happy hour. The Calamari was excellent as was the flat bread. They serve half priced items (6) during the drink happy hour. They also have a 32 oz Cali draft beer, beer and well drinks at happy hour prices.

Good and reasonably priced lunch

By RalphM33 |

We thought the 3 taco combo special was both tasty and certainly more reasonably priced than other places. They made it fun with music identification bingo. Service was quick and friendly and we enjoyed our lunch.

Cool Place With Fun Autmosphere

By AdventureSeeker84 |

My wife and I had lunch and beers here while on vacation. They have a nice selection of beers and some quality food. We would go again if back in the area.

Breakfast Burritos . . . Yum!

By John J |

We were staying in the Gaslamp district and randomly happened upon Garage while looking for a breakfast spot. The staff were welcoming and the whole place had a fun vibe. As indicated in the title, we enjoyed the breakfast burritos and a bloody Mary and a Margarita. The menu is extensive and the bar has a great variety.

Would highly recommend you take Bob up on this deal.

By Anne J |

Came in early for the Crazy Bob's burger deal. Burger and fries for $6. Great deal. The burger as hefty with quality meat, the toppings fresh and the sauce flavorful. The fries, long and perfectly crispy and served at a proper temperature....HOT. Amanda our server was attentive but not intrusive. The Guy at the entrance desk; because we arrived at a quiet time, with a touch of humor gave Carte Blanc to pick a table. Pleasant experience overall. Would highly recommend you take Bob up on this deal.

Wow...great food!

By Powder69 |

This place has a great atmosphere and incredible food. The portions were great, and all four of our plates tasted incredible. The service was exceptional and the beer menu was extensive. It's directly next door to the notorious "Shout House". We will definitely return on our next San Diego trip.

Funky fun, great food and equally great service!

By RedBlkBlu |

While heading to Brian's 24 we walked by this restaurant and their sandwich board caught our attention. It read something to the effect of "vegetarian all the time is awesome, but that's 365 days without bacon"....so we had a change of plans and went in. The atmosphere was rustic without appearing cheesy and the menu was varied without too many options. I had the croque Monsieur and was very happy! The servers were very friendly without being too invasive and we never wanted for water or coffee. We will be back for sure.

Delicious and showy dishes

By Niki |

I remember it was a very hot day when entered the Garage and we were desperately finding something nice and where you have options for gluten-allergic people, as well. The Garage reminded me to a pub, where you can watch sport events on TV while having a beer with your buddies. Therefore the inside was a bit loud and we decided to sit outside, even it was way hotter there. The waitress was nice and smiled, and all of us found something nice to eat. The dishes were delicious and looked very presentable. By the time we finished our lunch, we were full. I think it was worth to try this place.

Very good brunch & drink options!

By Aguard |

Went there with my husband and we had the $8 champagne bottle with oj, reasonable price and taste. We had the best breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely delicious! It had bacon jam!!! The only think I wished was cooked crispier was the potatoes. They had great flavor but too soft. The potatoes needed to be crunchier.

One great garage

By David S |

Craving a dining experience? Well, the Garage is the place to go. We were fortunate enough to arrive during happy hour for 1/2 price apps so we tried 4: triple fried wings, wild boar meatballs, ahi nachos & brisket fries. All awesome, but the nachos were everyone's fav. Had great beer & mules to wash it all down. As the night wore on, they got real busy & had a little difficulty keeping up, but overall a great time! 20% tip

Great happy hour

By Wendy C |

Great bargains for happy hour. 51 percent off appetizer! Service was excellent, Joanne waited on us and was helpful and pleasant.

Great vegan burger

By Amuella |

If you don't eat meat but still want to eat a delicious burger, this place is just right. The service was nice and quick. I will be back

Good food, but expect long wait times

By mike m |

Visited two separate nights for dinner. Both times were at least one hour wait (since seating was limited to outdoors due to Covid). Made a reservation and still waited 25 minutes. Food was good and came very quick. Weather was good which made outside seating enjoyable. Staff was friendly and seems to be working out timing issues since the restaurant is new. Plan ahead, get a reservation, allow some extra time (just in case) and you should enjoy the experience.

A Good Place for Blunch!

By renakashmere |

This place is just a short walk from the Convention Center, and I had the Butcher's Burger with bison, wild boar and grass fed Angus blend. I enjoyed the burger, but it felt a little light on the yummy toppings that swayed my menu choice like the bacon jam and crispy shallots so I was a bit disappointed. The fried were absolutely delicious... couldn't order a beer since I had to stay awake for afternoon meetings, but they had a good selection on tap.

Great brunch!

By Mark F |

The service was outstanding and the uniquely prepared croque madame (with nutmeg!) was wonderful. This is a great spot in the Gaslamp Quarter - great for small or large groups.

awesome sunday brunch and champagne!

By Iloveadamfrankel |

came for a sunday brunch, rad vibe. 8$bottles of champagne for brunch rules!! and the eggs Benedict was perfect. bartender was awesome too

Happiness Hour

By LivingLovingItaly |

This place is actually better at customer service than most bars close by. They always ask if you need anything else and try their best to get you to come back with good happy hour deals.

Avocado and Salmon toast

By PeterFDK |

A very positive surprise. The Garage interior and atmosphere made us interested and we decided to try a ordering a Toast with Avocado and Salmon together with a salat. We were really happy about everything. A really nice experience and what we have hoped for.

Food is good but the way the host works just ruin it!

By Luciewallace |

we sign in at 10:09AM on Sunday and were sat at 11:00AM. The reason why we stick around because we saw open tables and we thinking we will be in soon but not... she kept saying will be right with you... Host and bus the tables!!!! Once we sat down the waitress was nice and attentive; we got our drink and food in very decent time frame. The food was excellent

Great burgers and service

By Georgi G |

There were seven of us three vegans and after searching the local establishments decided to go to this place. The vegan burgers were exceptional to the vegan part of the group. My sister loved the BTL sandwich and my mother and I had the Bichers Burger which we enoyed tremendously. Very fast and professional service. Very clean as well.

Watch the NFL, great specials

By Jiminy_Whippet |

We went at happy hour (4pm - 7pm) for a few beers and snacks. We had bud lights at 2 for $5 and the appetisers were 51% off. We had the short rib fries and Korean street tacos. The tacos were amazing, possibly the best I've ever tasted and the short rib fries were lovely too. Every dish they brought out of the kitchen looked great with a lot of people going for burgers. Not too busy and a great place to chill out for a few hours. Friendly and very attentive waiting staff kept us topped up with speedy but relaxed service. Definitely going back for those tacos!!

Would recommend

By Usernamemaybe |

We had a great visit to Garage. We were seated promptly, server had great info and quick service. Our drinks and food came quickly and were enjoyable. We enjoyed the fries and dips, the butcher burger and the French dip. Would definitely revisit and try to catch a game. We appreciated all the above as we were in town for a concert and needed to be in and out fairly quickly. The vibes of this place are top notch.

Great food, lots of choice of beers

By Chris G |

Great place to grab some food before going to the Shout House bar next door, very nice staff, good range of beers and a good menu. Definitely recommended!

Can I give this a 3.5 Star rating?

By smackArkansas |

Fun place, engaging staff, good choice of food type and interesting preparations, Staff works to understand a diner's need, but may still miss something

Happy hour

By drericzez |

Nice atmospere. Happy hour sweet prices. Good beer selection. Waiter Adam excellent. Great place for couples and just to hang out..definitely need to check out.

High-quality drinks and food with excellent staff

By SBK |

I visited the Garage twice during my week in San Diego. They helped my company organize a 40 person happy hour and were accommodating beyond belief. The manager, waiters, and bartenders were polite, helpful, engaged, and knowledgeable - also very patient navigating such a big crowd. The food was delicious with a lot of vegetarian and meat options, as well as a vegan selection - wow. And, all food was tasty and fresh. The drinks menu is also excellent with numerous local beer options. The bartender was happy to answer questions and provide recommendations, too. I also brought a smaller group here the following evening and experienced excellent, friendly service once again. A great space that stands out in terms of service and quality. I would recommend for small to mid-sized groups and happy hour.

Foodie Happy Hour Bargains

By drodrigz |

If you follow my reviews, you know I’m always in search of Happy Hours not only with great drink prices but also of dishes worthy of us foodies!!! From 4-7 weekly, the Garage Kitchen and Bar consistently dishes out a substantial selection of delicious appetizers and drinks at an bargain 51 % off !!! On my most recent visit, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the chef changed up the menu a bit, so I decided to try a couple of new items - Lumpia Shanghai and the Korean Tacos (see photo). These lumpia are big, meaty and delicious. These are a sure hit- everyone likes lumpia. But I liked the Korean Tacos even better. Regular sized tortillas stuffed with duck confit, kimchi, avocado queso fresco. Top it with their Tiger hoisin sauce and a dash of sriracha- fantastic flavor !!! With a good selection of craft beer and wine to accompany, Garage Kitchen and Bar will continue to be my go to Foodie Happy Hour spot.

Great Happy Hour 51% Off

By Rae B |

This place has great atmosphere and obviously great drink and happy hour prices in the Gas lamp District of San Diego, however good luck on service! We waited at least 15 mins for a server and once he took our order we never saw him again. At last the hostess acknowledged this and was able to get us another server. Other than slow service, this place is GREAT! PS order the happy hour short ribs, the meat falls off the bone!

Not the best first stop, but willing to try again

By SimeyTravels |

3.5 stars Trying to find a brunch spot during Comic Con is always fun. And by "fun", I mean "challenging". You know you need to be prepared for a wait, and a lot of times, you know you have to be prepared to shell out more money, because menu prices tend to skyrocket when the Con's on. We set out to dine at Werewolf, but their wait for two was over an hour. Ain't nobody got time for that! We were headed back down the street to choose another spot when we stopped to review Garage's menu. The hostess said the wait for two was less than five minutes, and we added our name to the list. This restaurant is much bigger than it seems from the outside. We were led to a table at the top of the stairs and were served by a sweet girl who didn't blink an eye when I asked for a splash of the Mike Hess beer they had on tap. It was 10 in the morning, bless her. For my meal I went with the Biscuits and Gravy (they make it all fancy by calling it "Smoked Cheddar and Chive Biscuits with Maple Sausage Gravy). The dish didn't come with a side - it was just two biscuits smothered in gravy. Good thing I wasn't starving. I didn't notice the smoked cheddar or the chives, maybe because everything was swimming in gravy. The sausage gravy was tasty, though. My husband ordered the Breakfast Burrito, which was stuffed with eggs, bacon, tots, avocado and salsa. He wasn't able to finish it, but he said it had good flavor. I am taking stars off for the fact that the couple that was seated about 10 minutes after we ordered, that ordered 15 minutes after we ordered, were served their meals first. Not entirely sure how that happened, but it was rather annoying. And though our waitress was friendly and totally non-judgey of my morning drinking, she disappeared for a while. She was gone so long the couple next to us started asking everybody coming up the stairs for help with refills, boxes and their check.

Great atmosphere, food ok

By Aundreeuh |

Really fun pub type atmosphere. Hummus was delicious. Rest of the food was ok to not great. Margarita pizza was so bland. Tasted like dough with no seasoning. Soup was ok. Fried super salty. The Moscow mule was all ginger beer.

Awesome Sandwich

By Doug L |

Looked up on line for Breakfast in the Gaslamp found the Garage Kitchen and Bar Ordered the Sandwich with Smoked Ham .Pulled Pork .Carmilized Onions And Pear 2 Pieces of Cream Brulee French Toast and Preserve Wow

Great wings

By Craig R |

A couple of us wondered into this place late one evening. Very nice layout. I thought the wine rack made from an old grand piano was pretty cool. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the triple fried chicken wings from the appetizer menu. Six perfectly seasoned wings were spectacular. It was a dry rub that had a great combination of flavor mixed with a little spice. I believe I actually tasted nutmeg. None of my party was disappointed with their food. One member ordered the wild boar burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed

Great burger and friendly staff

By MartySue41 |

I, new to traveling solo, stopped in here after wandering around the Gaslamp District looking for something to eat. A lot of the restaurant seemed overly-fancy or a little more loud than I was hoping for. The name of the place was intriguing and I liked that it looked like a garage. The fact they were playing Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and CCR didn't hurt, either! The host lured me in and I decided at a minimum I'd have a drink at the bar. I decided to try their burger, too, and I'm glad I did. It was delicious. All the staff were extremely outgoing and personable and we had some great conversation. They gave me great advice as to what to do as a tourist in the city. I'd definitely return if given the chance.

Certain dishes were wonderful

By Ohiomomtwoboys |

We would highly recommend the three grilled cheese sandwich as well as the brie with chutney topping appetizer however we recommend avoiding the lobster mac & cheese as well as the Spicy Thai although the ahi tuna that was ordered as an extra on the Thai was done very well.

Nice Local Bar and Eatery

By Dennis L |

Good beer and food, ad professionally run live trivia on Tuesday nights. Sports on many large-screen TVs. Mixed review on service -- poor once, excellent once.

Salmon for Supper

By awi5209 |

This is my second visit to this restaurant. The restaurant has an upper level with additional seating. We were seated right away (group of 5). The service is great. Our server took our drink/appetizer orders and before we knew it, our food and drinks were on the table. For dinner, I ordered the salmon. I wasn't sure what to expect with the serving size. The food was excellent and it was medium portioned. I would order the salmon again. Great choice for dinner in the Gaslamp Quarters.

The best happy hour downtown, Gas Lamp

By Kathy & Bill T |

A pleasant trolley ride to Gas Lamp downtown San Diego. Garage has 51% off appetizers with good craft beer & wine prices 4-7 everyday. The Korean Tacos were our favorite. Many other items looked great & this was a fun bar as well. We sat upstairs because of a large party on street level. It was Saturday & the weekend b/4 Halloween, downtown everywhere was a fun place to be.

Best happy hour ever!

By Phyliss B |

Stopped in for happy hour on a Saturday, and yes there are drink specials and appetizers specials! Great bartenders and great food! Recommend the AHI Tartare Nachos and chicken wings! You will not be disappointed! Burgers are good too, start about $15. A definite place to go in San Diego in gas lamp district.

Outdoor seating

By BuzzyBelly |

This place popped up on a Yelp search when we looked for a lunch spot which on vacation in San Diego. The service was good and we were able to sit outside. I ordered a BLT with extra crispy bacon, my spouse ordered the club sandwich. I'm not sure if she forgot to put in for the crispy bacon or if I was being punished for asking for the crispy bacon - either way my bacon was totally uncooked. So I was basically left with a tomato and lettuce sandwich. I left all of the very undercooked bacon on the plate and she never said a word.

Not impressed!!

By Mrs_Vivante |

This place didn't impress me in any way... We walked in two hours before the restaurant's closing time and it already felt like the staff didn't want any new guests. We asked our host if we could get a table for four upstairs and she said we can pick any table there as it's all open. When we walked upstairs, the server there asked us to go down as they have closed that section. I would expect the host to know if part of their restaurant has closed for the day.... We came back downstairs and our host cared less about it and casually told us "oh, it's closed? Fine pick any table here" (really??) Now about the food, below average is what I would call it! The fig and gorgonzola flatbread was cold, the burger was so dry, the bisque was salty... ugh!! The only thing we really liked was the spicy noodles!

Yummy Brunch, good price

By RKCa |

We just had brunch here, but it was good! And unlike some other places, our $2 orange juice was good-sized - and refilled free! Definitely recommended.

Great Food and Great Service

By Joe B |

Stopped by for the first time during Burger Week in San Diego. Our party of four arrived there between 4:30-5:00pm. Seated promptly and our server Isable was at our table promptly. Weren't sure on a couple of things so ordered some drinks. Great happy hour prices, American beers $3, craft beers $4 and well drinks $4.50. We asked about the Butcher Burger and Isable said they were delicious. She was correct. They are made with wild boar, bison, and grass-fed Angus with crispy shallot, bacon jam, smoked cheddar, house sauce on a brioche bun and came with fries. It was awesome. Great flavor, done just right (moist but not greasy). We also ordered the Wild Meatballs made with wild boar, lamb, bison, and goat cheese in a marinara sauce. It was served with toasted baguette slices. Also had the Bobs burger which is just grass-fed Angus. It was good but not close to the Butchers Burger. The Butchers Burger rivals the burger at Le Tub in Hollywood FL. Isable was a gem. Our table was a real wobbler so we mentioned it to her and she was quick to bring us something to fix the problem. Asked for extra napkins and received them quickly. All during dinner whenever we asked questions or needed something Isable was there promptly and with a smile. We will definitely return and hit the Shout Out (both the Garage & Kitchen are together) dueling piano bar next door too.

Can't wait till we are back in town :)

Great spot we were in town for ten days at the end of November and we ate here 5 nights. Great food and I think I samples every beer they had. Service was excellent along with the atmosphere.

mediocre brunch

By octrekster |

We came in on Valentine's Day, on a Sunday, around 2:30 pm. They serve brunch, and only brunch, through 3 pm on weekends. We had The Lox omelette, filled with lox, red onion, capers, and cilantro creme fraiche, and the "Best Breakfast Sandwich Ever" (overreach in the extreme), which had wild boar sausage, white cheddar, bacon jam, and a fried egg, served on a biscuit. The Lox really needed the creme fraiche, which unfortunately did not get to the table until we were almost done. It was a bit unidimensional. The sandwich was ok, but the wild boar sausage was unseasoned, tasting pretty much like a plain hamburger patty. Both were served with a side of country potatoes and orange wedges. Portions were on the small side, but not terribly so. Service was a bit uneven, even though it wasn't very busy.

Really Great Foodie Food

By billinvegas4 |

We went here for HH on Saturday at 5 in the afternoon and had their ahi nachos and their clams/mussels and they were both out of this world good. We are long time foodies and love these kind eclectic and fusion sort of dishes. For HH we had the two apps plus 4 decent size glasses of Meiomi pinot and the bill was only $35...! We will be visiting this place a lot in the future....do yourself a favor and try it !!! By the way...HH is everyday of the week and from like 4 to 7....half price !!

Delicious!

By Elksmommy |

Garage Kitchen + Bar was absolutely delicious and fantastic service too. The burger was nothing short of fantastic.

Nice vegan options

By Eva |

It’s great to find a restaurant with several clearly marked vegan options on the menu. Friendly service. Pita on the hummus plate was super delicious. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to order lasagna at a restaurant. It had a little bit of a bite to it with the harissa and was very yummy. Music was good but too loud to visit, but now I’m just showing my age.

Great pub!

By J L |

There are bars and food service on two levels. Live music is scheduled on some evenings. The menu is "pub-ish" and good. There are several local brews on tap. I had a bison burger that was excellent. Fries are crispy and seasoned. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm......

Best Happy Hour in San Diego

By ShelleyMills |

This place was fantastic!! Hands down the best happy hour in San Diego. The Garage is a must stop for travelers in downtown who love great food, good service and fun atmosphere.

Maybe Brunch on Saturday is not the time to go?

By bonniep71 |

We popped in here for brunch before heading to the airport after a week stay in the area. We were seated upstairs and it was less than half full. Food was average. I ordered a Bloody Mary and was shocked to see it came with no accoutrements except one green olive? How can you call that a "Proud Mary" lol? Wimpy Mary.......Chilaquiles were in the broiler a bit too long. All in, our meal for the 5 of us was fine but wouldn't go back for brunch nor would I recommend. When we left at 12:00, the downstairs was full and the ambience was much better than upstairs.

Awesome Food in SD

By Bluemoon |

The garage restaurant has a great mix of food for the food connoisseur. The Ahi nachos were my favorite. The service was great as well. You must try the upside down cake, the donuts with coffee and cream, the brie appetizer, the mac and cheese has also a special "twist" to the regular one. It is right next to the Shout House. They connect also with each other on the inside.

This place is AMAZING!!! From Food to the Staff!!

By yaay4travel |

We were so impressed we went here twice during our stay!! The staff was great!!! Especially Taylor!! This girl is one of the best servers I have come across in a long time!! You will not be disappointed with anything you order. Their happy hour is incredible!!! So inexpensive and such quality food. This place is a must if you go to the Gaslamp District!!!

Very dog friendly!

By sandiegoPeter |

Stopped in for lunch which was very good. I had the burger and my wife had the BLT. Both came with frys which were excellent. The immediately brought water for the dogs and were very accommodating. We will definitely go back!

Saturday brunch

By Sandy W |

In San Diego for business. Stopped in for brunch. Chilaquiles and Buddha Bowl is DELICIOUS!!!! Great service and mimosas!

Live music

By Travel.eat.repeat.byzanda |

We didn’t try lot from food, just some starters and they was good. Friendly service, good atmosphere. We go there for live music and we really enjoyed that. Only thing what we was disappointed that people didn’t make attention to artist who was singing (he was really good), but I guess thats in every country differently, how people show respect to this kind of things :). I would never sit with back to artists and wouldn’t try speak louder then he sings.

Great Place for Happy Hour

By birtleman |

We went for Happy Hour, the price of the beer is great and the food we had was very good and well priced. The service was excellent. Would highly recomend.

Val needs a raise

By amdubois |

Best happy hour of all time. Come here and drink good things with a great bartender. Hopefully Val gets a raise. Whistle Pig is delicious.

Happy Hour Goodness

By LivingLovingItaly |

Lots of gaslamp options aren't worth it for HH but this place is! Great drinks - muddled strawberry with orange Kettle One is perfect for summer. Crab cakes are small in size with a crunchy texture but tasty.

Love it

By Rbb599 |

Service here was very good. A few tv to watch game. Appetizers were really great, especially the Ahi Nachos were outstanding! What is incredible is that their appetizers are half price during happy hour.

Cobb Salad is amazing

By Travel55723 |

We went here for lunch on a Monday. I ordered the Cobb salad, and it was really good. Needed a little extra dressing, but otherwise one of the best.

Get the Burger!

By Laura M |

My husband and I were recently in San Diego for a conference and ate brunch at The GARAGE! We really enjoyed ourselves and the food. The acai bowl was so refreshing and the burger was out of this world. The cereal shots looked super fun, even though we didn't try them! Check this place out if you're in the area!

Happy Hour Bargain

By drodrigz |

Went back to one of my favorite Happy Hour spots that I hadn't been to in quite a while. I remembered that there was a decent selection of local craft beers and really delicious Happy Hour food. But I had forgotten that all appetizers and many drinks were also 51 % off - yes!! This night I had the mussels and clams in a saffron white wine sauce with bits of chorizo and fennel in it. So delicious ...That I used all the Sadie Rose toast to soak up every drop of broth!! With my favorite cocktail and a glass of wine, a bargain for a $20 bill !!!

Nice place for a burger and well stocked bar

By alloceandiver |

We came for a late lunch after arriving from the airport. Place was not too crowded but started to fill up in the late afternoon. So better come early. The fries are handcut and excellent. The burger is fine but there is at least one small place in the Gaslamp where they serve better ones ;-) They have a wide selection a beers (and lots of other stuff) and even real German steins. The waitress was friendly and took her time for a chat. Seems there were a few local regulars at the bar so the place is not purely touristy.

Fantastic bar at the centre of everything

By Muso22 |

We fortunately started our evenings with this cracking little place in the heart of Gaslamp. With 51% off appetisers and all drinks until 7pm, we had the choice of so many ales we could not get through them - red trolley was our favourite though. The chicken wings were excellent with great quality chicken and the bluesy music sets up a great atmosphere in which to drink and eat. All the staff are chilled and very friendly, with a special mention to Ebb doing the welcoming who was so friendly and warm. We wish we had longer in San Diego to finish sampling all the draft beers and spend more time in our favourite bar in San Diego.

Really enjoyed

By johncrnkovic |

We really enjoyed this place. Came for an late lunch. Recommend the bison burger and draught combo. Service was good Definitely recommend

Great Gas Lamp District Restaurant / Bar

By Jeff38094 |

We found this place in the Gas lamp District, it was very good. If you arrive early, there are 50% off happy hour specials. The sea bass, salmon, wings, and stuffed chicken breast are awesome. Also there are many beer selections. Cant go wrong eating here.

Nonexistent service...

By Kyle M |

Terrible service. Waited 20 minutes for water and first drinks to be brought out. Staff did not seem to care or want to help. Waitress was rude when we politely inquired as to what the delay was. The large front door was propped open allowing the 60 degree wind to come blowing through and give everyone the chills. Staff promised to close it but never did. They were out of key items on the menu and made no apologies about it. Will not return and will not recommend. This could have been a very pleasant experience prior to attending the Shout house next door but ended up being a disaster.

Great happy hour!

By Phyliss B |

The Garage is a great place to hang out with friends/family! The restaurant serves great food, but during Happy Hour. Appetizers are HALF OFF! The wide variety of appetizers will keep you satisfied, and your stomach will be happy! They also offer beer and well drinks at reduced prices. The bartenders are friendly and actually talk to the guests! (You know the way bartenders in the movies do😃) The food is great, service is great and Happy Hour Fantastic!

Food & atmosphere

By ashleyrmella |

Live music brought us in and the food made us stay. Meatballs, mussels, and the pasta were fabulous.

Neat building. That's the best I can muster.

By jen829 |

Stopped by the Garage Kitchen & Bar recently for lunch. The building was neat and server was friendly enough. I ordered a burger and fries, while my husband ordered a beet salad with tuna. The burger was over cooked, dry and tasteless. However, I will admit the fries were quite tasty. The tuna on the beet salad was WAY over cooked and the combination of ingredients in the salad just didn't go together. Drink refills were also hard to come by. With so many other restaurants in San Diego, I would not consider returning.

Nice place with good food and beer

By GerrryS |

Went on a Thursday afternoon (4-ish). Was the only patron there, and sat by the bar. Barman was very helpful in figuring out a craft beer for my tastes. He made a perfect recommendation. Had the ramen bowl with shrimp -- tasty!

Bad service

By Debra-n-Doug |

Poor service. Took 50 minutes to get breakfast and place not busy, pretty sure waitress forgot about us. Someone ( not waitress) finally dropped off food after we asked hostess to check. Had to ask for our check. Waitress never checked back to see if we needed anything once we got our meal. Food was ok, nothing exceptional. Too many other choices of venues, won't come back or recommend.

Exceptionally poor service.

By Kyle M |

Awful service. Disgruntled staff who were rude and unhelpful at every opportunity. Food was well below average and just not worth it. Will not recommend and will not return.

The Ahi Nachos!!! And the beer!

By PurpleS |

If you're looking for a pub with actually decent food and good beer, look no further! I had the Ahi nachos (i accidently ordered fish even tho I hate fish)...and it was, hands down, the best nachos i've ever had. The beer was good, the bartenders weren't too pushy and overall a great pub time.

Awesome happy hour and great vibe

By LukeGar |

I came here to watch some college football games during the happy hour. The appetizers and the beers were extremely well priced. (Bottled Corona for $2). The place is very big and offers plenty of space and TVs if that's why you are there. The appetizers are a little different than most places but still extremely tasty. Definitely recommend trying this place out at least once.

Great happy hour

By Kristen F |

The garage has a great happy hour! They also give you $5 off any entrée on days it rains--I'd highly recommend the steak, which is better than many of the steak houses in SD.

Good food, ok service

By kelleyaelliott |

Our food came out at very different times, and some of it was incorrect. The food was delicious though! Our waitress seemed overwhelmed as she was the only person working in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. The service could have been a lot better had she just had some help up there!

When there is booze in your cereal, you go back

By carlyknapp |

Cool urban vibe and bomb food. I’m vegan and plenty of options for everyone. Açaí bowl is huge. Truffle omlet, bomb and I consider myself a truffle connoisseur. Brunch cocktails on point. Oh, and they have shots of cereal... yea, you heard me. Just think, Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, Cinnamon Toast Crunch.... with a kick 🤪

Poor Service

By jnooney454 |

We sat at a table for ~ 10-minutes without the bartender or any wait staff bringing us waters or let alone taking our drink order. The bartender made eye contact with us several times, but was more concerned with making specialty drinks that he had to look up on his phone.

Delicious food, good atmosphere

By jenniferlZ7260GI |

The atmosphere is: rustic sports bar. I bet it gets rowdy on game days, but when we visited around 12 on a Sunday, it wasn't too crowded. The food was all delicious: crab cake Benedict, truffle mushroom omelette. The potatoes that come on the side of most of the dishes are SO awesome. They are cooked with garlic and caramelized onions. The French toast with Nutella and strawberries was a yummy treat to share among the table. We will definitely be back!

Two separate people got sick

By Jwalk777 |

Went here with friends and one of us got the chicken and I got the tuna and we both got VERY sick within a few hours of eating there.

Super food

By Danilo C |

The nachos and the cheese truffle crab mac were delicious! Service was really fast and Taylor was super kind with us. I highly recommend to visit Garage if you want to enjoy a good dinner! P. S. Live music was great too

Fantastic happy hour

By DS114 |

Not much at all to look at from the outside, but the best happy hour. Marvelous appetizers--ahi tartare nachos, wild meatballs, shrimp cerviche tacos. Innovative & delicious. Tony, our server, was very attentive, informative & personable. Who can beat 51% off on beer, wine & apps. at happy hour?

Casual vibes restaurant with a cool bar menu

By Michelle A |

Home to the Minnesota Vikings fan during football season. I’m surprised I haven’t ate here at this restaurant. My Bestie and I went here before our comedy show and we were not disappointed. There was no wait when we went , I was able to see the ambience of the restaurant. It is so cute when it’s stressed up for the Minnesota Viking fans All we ordered was Parmesan truffle fries, and pork belly fried rice and even though it was just a little appetizer we had before our show it was so delicious. We also had some of the cocktails. My favorite is the ” young, dumb and broke.” That Drink, it is so tasty. This bar is also connected to the shout house, so definitely this is worth coming back again!

Get it Together

By asc-sandiego |

Came here tonight after having dinner at Born and Raised. Music was great however the service was horrible. The people in my group were drinking. I had one cocktail but could not get the waiter to bring me a water or ice despite asking several times throughout the night. I had to go to the bar three times. He had no problem bringing beers and cocktails to others in my party but couldn’t bother bring me an ice water. Worst service ever. Get it together.

Great spot!!

By Liz |

Ashley made our dining experience at Garage Kitchen + Bar absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, she was incredibly friendly and personable, making us feel welcome right away. Her quick service was impressive, ensuring that we never had to wait long for anything, whether it was our drinks, appetizers, or entrees. Ashley's attention to detail and genuine care for her guests really stood out. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and her recommendations were spot-on. Thanks to Ashley, our night was truly an amazing experience. We'll definitely be returning, and we'll be sure to ask for her every time! highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!!

Urban Loft Bar

By artsuprt |

Tasty bar food and great bear selection that waxed nostalgic since they had Goose Island's Stout on the list.

Great Burger

By Womanbehindalens |

Stopped in here with friends and had the butcher burger which the waitress said was 'frickin awesome'. She didn't lie, it was frickin awesome. Will definitely come back for another.

Eclectic menu!

By Karen M |

Loved the creativity on their menu. Had the Lox and Avocao Toast and loved the presentation and taste. Went back next day and thoroughly enjoyed the pulled por sliders on brioche but. Also, the Mimosa made with pineapple juice and lavender was superb.

Excellent food.

By Elizabeth M |

Excellent service, food and vibe. Happy hour drink prices and not too crowded. TV views from around the space all good.

Stop off for lunch

By PhilTasker |

Myself and three friends stopped here after walking around the city. The food and service was amazing! I had the fried chicken sandwich and a blood orange/bourbon drink both were good. I really recommend going here. Music is also awesome!!!

Vacation!

By Julie W |

Food is awesome and the environment is low key and fun. $6 mimosas.. They were the best. Great service by Emily..

Shady as hell during happy hour

By Steven H |

We took out of town visitors here based on the great reviews and have to say we were less than impressed. The Garage is connected to Shout and also shares restrooms with Werewolf. We specifically decided to try them out during their happy hour which is between 4-6pm. We sat down at a table and were approached by the waitress. We let her know we were there to try out the happy hour and proceeded to order our drinks. Happy hour is advertised as 51% off. The drinks themselves were ok. A bit later we noticed we hadn’t seen our waitress for a bit and wanted to get another round in before it hit 6pm. We finally caught her eye and she came over and we let her know we wanted some additional drinks before happy hour ended. She took the order and brought us the drinks about five minutes later. After we finished the second round we wanted to head out to another bar and had trouble getting our waitresses attention so I eventually went up to the bar where she was chatting with other workers. She proceeded to print out the bill and it was full price instead of 51% off. When I asked why we didn’t get the half off she stated it was only for certain beers and alcohol drinks. I was in disbelief given we had specifically mentioned we were there for the happy hour and she made no mention that the drinks we were ordering were not included in the deal. That was shady as hell. We won’t be going back there. I’m giving them two stars only because the drinks were ok. Be careful what you order if you’re going during happy hour.

Great lunch

By Sandy G |

Found this place on yelp by one of our people in group. Great atmosphere, delicious lunch and cold drinks. This was our first stop after hotel check in. I would bet this would be fun to be here in the evening.

A great find in San Diego!

By Lana S |

Our food was great and the service was amazing! Our server was so helpful and gave us suggestions. We loved Bob's Burger and the tuna appetizer. Drinks were great too!

Nice place

By stephanhs |

Went out out for a dinner while visiting san diego, we set out for garage kitchen It dit not disappoint, the menu is not very large but they have a choice for everyone. Slight disappointment, they did not have all there flavors. Cheesecake.

Great happy hour

By BadgerTrip |

Great beer selection, happy hour (4-7pm) has $4 craft drafts and inventive food options for $5-8. Laid back place to enjoy a local pint.

Cool bar

By JohnVCollins |

Found it by accident and we're lucky to come across the dueling piano night (Monday). Great atmosphere, service a little too keen (drink glass disappears as soon as you empty it) but overall a great place and will come back again.

Best place in GasLamp Quarter

By Candy M |

We found this little gem our last few days in SD. Great and unique menu. Terrific drinks. Friendly servers. Real clean. Highly recommend!!!
