Excellent

This museum cafe resides in the beautiful sculpture garden and has the best views in the great california sun. The team works fast and in sync. No need for order or table number, the staff will remember you and bring your order out.

For those coming for a visit in the next 6 to 9 months

Just to let anybody know that is planning on coming to the museum in the next 6 to 9 months they’re doing extensive renovations to the outside. That café will be open, but the outdoor seating around the gardens will be off access I believe.

Nice little cafe!

Nothing spectacular, but a good selection of tasty & healthy sandwiches and other treats. Very welcome for the tired visitor!

THE OASIS IN THE OASIS

By BULLDOG742014 |

An excellent small outdoor cafe perched on the edge of the Norton Simon's English water garden and outdoor sculpture park. Simple but well prepared and fresh sandwiches, wraps, salads, desserts and a nice selection of drinks. Inexpensive and a welcome place to sit and rest in between the galleries.'

If Nothing Else, Stop by for a Bag of Bombolinis.

By Tamara H |

The Garden Cafe at the Norton Simon is small but has some nicely chosen sandwiches and salads. There are cookies and brownies available, but I highly recommend getting a bag of bombolinis. They come three to a bag. They look like doughnut holes but bigger. They are nothing like doughnut holes so scratch that from your brain. The pastry cream inside the bombolinis is delicious. Iced coffee and/or hot coffee is available as well as a selection of bottled beverages (including beer, wine and champagne). Tables and chairs are available (nicely positioned next to the lily pond) and there are a few umbrellas over the tables to provide shade from the sun. The staff were friendly and gracious. The cafe is a nice layer to your visit to the Norton Simon museum.

Good daily specials

Good quality food and beverages. We had curried vegetable soup and Italian style hoagie. Both freshly made and tasted delicious..

Ideal Setting

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

This outdoor cafe at the Norton Simon Museum has an ideal setting in the sculpture garden. Here you can enjoy a coffee, sweet, salad or sandwich as well as the natural beauty of the lily pond alive with Mallards, Canadian geese, and a Snowy Egret while being surrounded by a variety of statues including a Henry Moore.

Great cafe at Norton Simon

This is a great spot to stop and have a light lunch or a glass of wine while enjoying the sculptor garden at Norton Simon.

Beautiful location, but food only so-so

By geomom01 |

I love that the Norton Simon has this lovely cafe and that you can sip a glass of wine while looking out over a pretty lilly pond - It really doesn't get any better. However, I think they could improve on the food a bit and speed up the ordering process. I had a sandwich that ended up being very large and cost a lot, plus it was poorly prepared to say it nicely. Most people would prefer a smaller quality sandwich I am sure. My lunch of a sandwich, chips and drink was close to $20. They also ran out of several sandwich and salad options by 1:15 on the day I was there.

Outdoor dining

This is not a full-service restaurant. Just casual food, but the garden is beautiful. So, choose a nice day.

A comfortable cafe in a quiet setting.

This cafe has a nice menu with seating and tables in view of the long lily pond bordered with bronze statues.

Fresh ingredients and uncomplicated food

We had some delicious freshly made wraps and very cold white wine on a hot summer day while taking a break from looking at the magnificent art collection and enjoying the nature trails.

Lunch at Norton Simon garden

This will break up your visit to the Norton Simon museum into two bite-size chunks. It's the garden in the back. Do half the museum, have lunch here, and then go back to themuseum.

Limited but Nice

By judysinger |

The menu is quite limited, but they do serve beverages and sandwiches. The best part is the truly beautiful area where you can sit and enjoy a snack or soda and take in the lily pond and greenery. The area has tables with patio type chairs and umbrellas for shade. Very lovely.

Perfect rest spot between laps

This little sandwich and coffee spot with its courteous attendants who serve a fine cappuccino is the perfect place to rest your eyes between the two great sections of paintings and the basement of sculpture.

Located on the west side

This cafe is only open on weekends but it is situated just right after traveling about the gardens for several hours. The fare is better than the usual restaurant of this type. Seating is also in the shade which is nice on hot days.

Lovely setting with great food

By kasialouise |

The cafe is in the sculpture garden overlooking a small pond. Food is freshly pre packed. We had a tasty tuna sandwich, a nice black bean bisque soup flavored with cumin, a bottle of Corona, and bomboloni (small sugar donuts filled with custard). Everything was very well done.

Excellent supplement to the gallery, ideal for a short break!

By John P |

This is a small weekend cafeteria that supplements a visit to the Norton Simon Museum and it is perfect for the task of refreshing visitors taking a short break from the process of art viewing. We had a roll and coffee each with various less healthy add-ons and then sat admiring the lake, the surrounding sculpture garden and watching people, a perfect mid Sunday relaxation. Service was good and friendly, food was adequate quality and the price was fair.
