This is a limited menu that they do very well rather than a big menu that's mediocre food. I got the rabbit and dumplings and it was excellent! Sacy (spelling? Stacy without a T) was our server and provided exceptional service!

We tried several of their dishes for dinner. The tomato salad was excellent. We also enjoyed the pimento cheese appetizer. For dinner we had the BLT which was a tasty sandwich with crispy bacon. The cheeseburger was very juicy and flavorful. The service was great and we will be back.

Wasn’t sure about coming here thanks to the name but was really surprised. Great drinks menu, great food and excellent service. Everything was fresh and great quality, served beautifully by well- versed staff obviously familiar with the menu. I opted for oysters which were so fresh and very tasty and chicken that was cooked to perfection Great atmosphere, slightly more formal that some of its neighbours but still a relaxed, comfortable place to gather with friends Will visit again

I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews I read, but we really enjoyed the cocktails, small plates, desert, and service. The only disappointment was the special bourbon service. You can get bourbon drinks from the bar, but if you want the special, table side, bourbon service you have to come when they are not busy!?!?! She said early on a weekday would be best, because the bartender does it, so the bar can’t be busy. I am not sure why something is on the menu if you can’t get it 90% of the time. Regardless we had a nice visit and would return. Make sure you get a reservation, as this is a surprisingly small place!

While in Atlanta for a concert at the Roxy we just fell upon this place - and we are glad we did! Service was perfect - professional, friendly, and just enough (but not too much) attention. Food was amazing - loved the lump crab, pimento cheese, and deviled eggs. What was truly out of this world was the burger - a must try! So good, we came back and had the burger for dinner the next night. Looking forward to more Garden and Gun restaurants!

My second time visiting GG&C and I left impressed once again. Although it is relatively small, located near the 1st base side of the Braves' stadium, there is plenty of room for small groups to meet and not have to raise your voice so the person next to you can hear. There is patio dinning during the warmer months as well. The menu starts with smaller side plates and progress to more hardy meals but nothing is labeled as such. I have had the Appalachian trout and the rabbit and dumplings. I recommend the rabbit with its tender meat mixed with stewed tomatoes and onions. Attentive wait staff.

My daughter suggeseted we go there for my birthday dinner. I read the menu on line to get an idea of what was offered. The meal we choose was excellent. I got the shrimp and we started with a dozen of mixed variety oysters. Yum. The service was friendly and prompt and they have a number of signiture cocktails. The restaurant is small with a nice area to eat outside. Just has a great vibe with the bar being the centerpiece. Recommend highly.

My husband and I went there the first night of our staycation. We had reservations and were not seated till 30 minutes after said reservations, they were able to sit us at a smaller table to order appetizers and drinks while we waited on our table. I had the best burger I have ever had in my life there! Next time I’d like to try something more adventures as they had rabbit and quail on the menu. Nice place very small so make reservations or plan on waiting. Servers were hit or miss for us but we did enjoy the evening.

Amazing food! Highly recommend the lobster roll and fried green tomatoes! Great patio for people watching and the cocktails are perfect!

BLT was good. Salad average. Banana pudding o.k. Location great. Outside seating available and pleasant.

Menu is a little pricey, but everything we had was good. Ate outside during a Braves game and service was good. Would highly recommend the shrimp and grits - excellent flavor and texture.

Food and drinks are great. They just don’t tell you it’s a $3 up charge for the “smoke” on the drinks…. And the servers do not know what it is

Despite the location (next to the new Atlanta Braves stadium), this restaurant does a good job of embodying the South. We did not need reservations for a random Tuesday night but if you’re going on the weekend or on the day of a baseball game, you WILL need reservations. The restaurant has only been open a few months at the time of this review, but I think it’ll be successful. The decor was reminiscent of a private club with comfortable captain’s chairs. If you’ve never had some of these Southern specialties, definitely try the boiled peanuts or the pimento cheese appetizer. Definitely ask about the day’s specials and what dishes are most popular.

We were at The Battery early for a Friday night Braves game and decided to grab a bite to eat before the game. We had wanted to dine at The Garden and Gun Club so we took a chance to find a seat. We found seats at the bar(whether we drink or not, we tend to sit at the bar...the service is always good). Julian greeted us and made us feel welcome. My wife ordered an espresso martini which was drlish. We had the pimento cheese and the deep-fried pork chop. The food and service was very good. We will be back soon.

This is such a neat restaurant to visit. We were looking forward to the variety of meats and fresh veggies. We did start our meal with the tuna dip, cornmeal shrimp and fresh oysters.! Accompanied with lovely cocktails. These did not disappoint. We were able to sit outside on the covered patio on a lovely day. Our entrees were: Pimento cheese sandwich( moist and sharp), quail ( very generous with 2 quail). Just a little over fried but very tasty. Butter bean salad( added grilled shrimp) all very fresh and appointed with homemade dressing, chopped beef patty of three prime meats( Just deliciousness). Could not leave without cleansing the pallet with banana pudding, true southern style with richness and cool whipped cream. This restaurant is a treat!

Had birthday dinner for daughter. Marginal food at best. Had 1/2 dozen raw oysters, one was spoiled. ‘Famous’ deviled eggs were almost too salty to be edible. Paid $48 got two kettle ones on the rocks. Total bill with tip for three diners $250. Called ahead about the birthday, and had to remind them when it was time for desert. I don’t mind paying for great food or great service. This was neither.

We had the pimento cheese with house made crackers- the fried quail and the burger. All were perfect!!

In a rush for a baseball game, this place takes reservations !! Thank You for that !! Nice quaint location, 300 feet from the main entrance of the baseball stadium. Not overly large seating area. Fast service, with interesting local items on the menu. We all had different items, everyone was impressed. Good size servings, and reasonable prices.

The atmosphere at Garden & Gun is exceptional - refined Southern charm with an old-money aesthetic that bourbon enthusiasts will particularly appreciate. The bourbon selection is extensive, and the wine list is solid. We began with appetizers, and the pimento cheese lived up to expectations. I considered ordering the deviled egg but decided against it after reading reviews mentioning the $4.50 price point for half an egg. For my entrée, I ordered the burger and fries. The fries were outstanding - crispy and well-seasoned. The burger was good, though not exceptional. I’ve had better burgers at Muss & Turner and Stockyard Burgers & Bones. One notable issue: watch for unannounced upcharges. My companion accepted a few server suggestions without realizing they came at an additional cost. For instance, we discovered only when reviewing the bill that a large ice cube added a dollar to the drink price. These charges should be mentioned upfront. Since this meal was largely covered by American Express’s Resy benefit, I was satisfied with the overall value and would return. However, if paying out of pocket, I’d likely visit for drinks rather than a full meal.

We were in town for two nights. The first night we stumbled across this little gem. We all had a great meal. The next night we went back to try something different. Each thing we tried was excellent so we could not single out much but when you get a chance to eat quail, I believe that you should. Evidently they have a Sunday brunch which would highlight the delicious biscuits. (do not forget dessert!)

I was very much looking forward to trying out this restaurant for dinner. My husband waited for his parents to come in to town and they made reservations here for me to surprise me for dinner one night. There was not one thing that lived up to my expectations! Let’s start out with drinks. I ordered a Pimms cup for $12. You couldn’t taste one sip of alcohol in the entire drink. That’s one thing I expect from a Southern cocktail- a good, STRONG drink. This is not. It simply tasted like a ginger drink with a splash of cherry syrup. My husband asked for a non alcoholic beer- they didn’t have one, so he ordered a sprite instead. He took one sip of it and then the waiter topped it off with water. We then ordered some appetizers to share- the pimento cheese and the fish dip. While these were good, they were just sub-par. Not worth the $12 and $14 price tag. After a disappointing first 30 minutes of drinks and appetizers, we decided to not stay for dinner and went to another restaurant. I will stick to the magazine for now and will not be back to the restaurant.

Amidst all the sports bars and general busyness at the Battery is this gem of a cocktail bar! The drinks are top shelf and the bar tenders top rate. Pair that with a nice selection of small plates and you’re all set. Join the club!

I fell in love with the magazine in Charleston SC in the early 90’s. Imagine my shock when I discovered they had opened their first namesake restaurant in Atlanta at the new Braves Battery Park. Trust me run do not walk to Garden and Gun Club. The food is out of this world and the service impeccable yet comfortably elegant. Try the rabbit and dumplings or the quail over rice. Do not leave the building without having the banana pudding. Best dessert in the south.

The Battery has lots of choices. We chose Garden and Gun and were SO glad we did! Our server was THE best! She was so efficient, and took great care of the four of us. We will definitely be back!

We were seated quickly. Such a great staff. Good good food. Expensive but it was cool inside There is a great bar service Upscale but comfortable. Shrimp. Mac and cheese. Fried chicken salad Good dessert

Warning the food here is delicious however the portions are small for the price AND they have not clue how to make a proper Mint Julep! Great Brave game day stop but if you want to sit inside get here way early.

Dinner was delicious. Service was excellent! My kids got pimento cheese club sandwiches and the pimento cheese was great. Sandwiches come with chips- we didn’t know so also ordered fries and they were yummy. Chopped salad was so good. Cosmos great too!

Bartender was fantastic. Perfect old fashioned. Also had the peel and eat shrimp, and oysters. Totally awesome place pre or post Braves game. Did I mention the old fashioned?

This place has an exceptional feel to it. Upbeat, lively, fun and a great menu to boot. I'll start by saying I am Old Fashion kind of guy and anywhere that uses Blade and Bow as their standard usually tells you all you need to know. We were here before a Braves games, so the reason I really appreciated their menu was because I knew I was going to eat the obligatory ball game food so I didn't need a lot of food prior. They have a great assortment of small and regular sized plates to handle whatever level of food you want. I had a fried oyster slider that was heaven. All of our food was perfect. Morgan, our server did an outstanding job. Very friendly staff. I'll go back whether there is a game or not.

Really loved this restaurant. We had cocktails and light lunch of appetizers and sandwiches. We loved the deviled eggs -- which are topped with fried oysters--and also loved the pimento and cheese sandwiches. Cocktails were also fantastic and service was excellent. It is on the "battery" near Suntrust Park, but inside is as quiet as a library--don't know who the sound proofer was, but they did a great job! The decor was awesome too!

“Intimate and inviting, the Garden & Gun Club at the Battery Atlanta writes a new chapter in Southern hospitality.” HUMM? Metal tables in the elegant dining room, servers in jeans and very high noise levels doesn’t make for intimate and inviting. Perhaps my expectations were set too high when I saw the Garden and Gun Club website. I was looking for something very intimate with exceptional service and food. The food was tasty but not unique. The servers were attentive until there was a shift meeting held with the manager right in the middle of the elegant dining room. The price was average for the area and so was everything else. Nothing special at Garden & Gun.

What a little treasure right next to the Atlanta Braves baseball stadium! Wait staff was awesome and attentive with great descriptions of the food and recommendations. But, the Pimm's Cup-oh, the Pimm's Cup! Being from the north, we don't often see this drink on menus and I was so excited and thrilled with the drink, I came back the next day. I recommend this little gem to all comers!

Great service, knowledgeable server, excellent beer and wine selection, interesting and tasty food. This place hit all the right buttons for high end dining and we had no complaints.

Intimate setting for a quiet dinner in the Battery. Casual and quaint. Drinks are well made, and the staff is very attentive. The menu is small, but tasty. I recommend the fish dip and deviled eggs for appetizers, and shrimp and grits and the pork chop for your entree.

The bloom is off the rose here. As this eatery is named for one of the toniest arbiters of Southern culture, we were expecting much more than we got. Booked a table for our anniversary and were a bit disappointed. First, I need to note that this restaurant is SMALL. Just a few booths and a bar. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for our table -- which wouldn't be a problem, usually, except the waiting area was standing-room-only and cramped. The bar was full. When we were finally seated, the service was S.L.O.W. The menu was interesting, but very limited. One steak dish. One burger. One chicken dish. One duck dish. And I think there were several fish dishes -- but really, fish can be iffy outside of coastal areas, so unless I really have a hankerin' for fish, I pass. The kitchen was slow, too, once we put in our order. Portions were smallish. Very disappointing. If they don't up their game, I expect they won't be around long -- which is sad because the name is a big draw, but the reality doesn't live up to the name.

Get the picture: office Christmas Party of 8, all in great moods, ready to have fun and enjoy a special experience. All first timers to the restaurant (i.e. opportunity to grow the restaurant name). Late lunch, so very few diners there. Group of 8 hardly acknowledged upon arrival, had to ask to light the candles on the table in a dimly lit room, “We only light those at night” was the response. Server Octavius was the highlight of the experience and along with meeting the dessert chef, made the visit pleasurable table side. Food OK, not outstanding, Would have been fine except for the ancillary staff. They need to take some lessons from our server.

We were in Atlanta to visit family and also set aside time to have Sunday brunch with really good friends Since our hotel was in Battery Park, next door to the Atlanta Braves stadium, we went to Garden and Gun Since I have a subscription to the magazine, I was intrigued and they have done an outstanding job of creating small place atmosphere with this large bar with a huge selection of bourbon and whiskey Food selections took a wide range while staying aligned with southern tastes The pimento cheese was outstanding Gotta go back on our next trip to Atlanta

This is a small postage stamp of a restaurant. The bar seats about as many people as the dining room (which is really part of the bar) and there is a small outdoor seating area as well. However, it reads old fashion class from the greeting at the door, seating and service. The James Beard Award–winning team of chef Mike Lata and Adam Nemirow of FIG and the Ordinary (Charleston, South Carolina) are the skill behind the food and it was southern charm all the way, well they may have stumbled at deserts but that is for later. The menu itself reads a bit awkward in that it is not divided in the traditional appetizer, soups and salads, entree and desserts. The seven page menu has food items on two pages and the rest is devoted to burbons, drinks and wine. The food menu consist of Raw Bar items and Sandwiches, Sides, Savory and Sweets. For me the Savory is where GG&C shines. We started with a Chopped liver on Toast. The liver which the server said was organic, may or may not have been (I find organic liver to be a bit darker than other chicken livers and this was not). That aside it was delicious. Chopped coarsely and served on toast with thinly sliced Granny Smith apples it was a perfect beginning. The livers has a slight grilled/smoked flavor that made this dish even better. For entree, my date had the "Cast Iron fried Chopped Steak with chopped mushrooms and red wine sauce." It comes with a poached egg, but she had it sans poached egg. She agreed to the medium rare temperature (for ground beef??) but it appeared to be closer to the rare side. Temperatures aside it was delicious. Not included in the description was a rye toast bed the steak rested upon, a very old fashioned and out of style way of serving steak. I loved it. I had the Turkey Neck Gumbo. I have to say I love the description. This is anti snobbery at it's best. The Gumbo was perfect for me. First and foremost the rue was cooked correctly. They browned the rue until it resembled coffee then added the other ingredients. It had just enough spice in it to let me know it was there but didn't overpower the dish. No hot sauce needed. The delicious Carolina Gold rice was lost in the flavors of the Gumbo. It could have been any white rice but nonetheless provided the extra garnish you've come to expect with Gumbo. The turkey could have been chopped a bit as it hung in long strings off the spoon. Other menu items that sounded delicious and we will go back to try were the rabbit and dumplings along with the white shrimp in cornmeal batter, an artisanal cheese tray, and a country ham plate. Sides (that really didn't interest me) were french fries, braised greens, grits, mac and cheese with ham bits. A green salad was also available. If GG&C stumbles it is with deserts. They list four. A cake of the day which in our case was a Chiffon Cake (their only nod to a southern desert). Turtle Cheesecake, Apple Strudel, and Sipping Chocolate (with bourbon $5 extra). They really could have knocked it out the park here. How about Pound Cake with seasonal fruit, Peanut brittle bar, bourbon pecan pie, coconut cake, coconut cream pie, chocolate pie... the list goes on and on for our southern sweet tooths but alas the pickins were slim. Their bar items were moderately priced. I had "Four Roses Reserved" bourbons over ice. This is "your father's" bourbon that has had a resurgents. It was delicious and at $14 a glass it was a healthy pour and priced well. My date had wine and at $9 a glass also a well priced beverage. Service was polite, informative and traditional. Thankfully ONLY our server checked on our satisfaction and not the host of managers that is the rigour. I love the club style monogrammed plates and the mismatched plated silverware. Considering that $50 of our dinner was beverages and $75 was food and tip it was a great bargain as well. Can't wait to go back again.

Fantastic food and service!!! Great drinks and food/ so good- salad and drinks bus were great - desert was also great. Will come back

Although I knew about the magazine by the same name, I only recently learned about the restaurant at The Battery near SunTrust Park (where the Atlanta Braves play). The Battery has an interesting vibe even when the Braves are not playing at home. Couples with babies in strollers, guys trying to hawk or buy tickets, men and women who work in the complex........all milling around the theme park type setting. In addition to a office buildings, a hotel and apartments, there are an increasing number of cool restaurants. The mix is interesting and perhaps one of the more unique destinations is the Garden & Gun Club. It is a small store front located on the ground floor of the Comcast building. There are a few covered, outside seats and a small doorway leading to the smallish interior of the restaurant. The bar is front and center and the lovely young woman behind the bar offered me a glass of water (on a very hot day) as I waited for my colleague. When he arrived we went to the back where we were seated in a quiet booth. The water was polite and on top of his game explaining the menu, getting our drinks and waiting politely while we perused the menu. My colleague had the cornmeal fried shrimp along with rice. I ordered the butter bean salad and the BLT with homemade pimento cheese. The sandwich was delicious and the salad was uniquely flavored as well. After we completed our meal we ordered coffee, which our waiter made fresh for us and the banana pudding with peanut butter whipped cream topping. It was outstanding. The menu is distinctly Southern and very unique. The limited offerings are consistent with the small size of the establishment (likely with a small kitchen). They have an excellent whiskey menu as well as wine, beer and cocktails but on this day we had unsweet tea and water. This is a jewel of a restaurant slightly hidden between restaurants in the same location. I highly recommend this unique and delightful establishment but it is not suitable for large groups or kids.

Appetizers were okay and dinner was a disappointment. Ordered the gnocchi and when they set it down didn't look anything like gnocchi. I thought I had the wrong dish. It actually looked and tasted like a fried cheese stick. Presentation was nice but didn't taste good. Lots of options in the area. I'd pass on this place.

Gumbo was to die for! The gumbo was made with turkey necks. We did not find any bones in it. The waiter said that chef was from California but gumbo tasted like a New Orleans gumbo! The fried white shrimp were large and tasted delicious. This is a new restaurant that just opened in April 2018 at the Battery right outside the Atlanta Braves stadium. If going to a Braves game, great place to have lunch or dinner!

We went here as a destination, with a reservation. Initial impressions: Low-key glamorous; most of the space is devoted to the bar/raw seafood bar (which smelled amazing as you walked by). At first I thought the menu seemed really limited and mostly appetizer-sized items, but every single thing we ate was seriously excellent. I had the crab cake and every single morsel on the plate was super-flavorful. The chop steak got a big thumbs-up from a serious meat-eater at the table. Even the french fries were perfect (sprinkled with freshly grated parmesan!) Desserts were beautiful. Drinks (both classics and originals) were top-notch. I can't wait to go back. Great service, too. Next time I want to sit closer to the front entrance, though. We sat at the very back and you couldn't really see much of the rest of restaurant.

All the times I have been to the Battery I can't believe I passed the Garden & Gun Club without stopping in. This time my wife and I decided to check it out. Once inside there is a cozy bar that is perfect for us to hang out and watch the crowd. The bartender knows how to make a very good cocktail and while the menu is not what I usually partake in, I found that they make a darn good BLT. My wife had the shrimp salad sandwich and she loved it. Try this place out!

I took a family member on a Thursday at noon. There was only one server for the entire restaurant (he did his best), but we waited 10 minutes to get warm water. The restaurant is nothing like I recall the magazine portraying it as. Paid $28 a piece for smoked chicken entrees...it was two small drumsticks and a small thigh with a smattering of sweet potatoes. Based on similarly priced restaurants, you get at least a breast. We were shocked and left hungry, but got a belly full of pretention. The entire experience left me understanding that this place is for suckers. Go anywhere else at the Battery, game hot dog would be a better option.

We got here early and that was good because it got real busy before game. Ordered drinks and everyone thought they were good but they took forever as the service was really slow. I also got a cheeseburger with fries and it was really really good.

Cool place, dark and fancy yet friendly and approachable. We sat at the oyster bar and boy are we glad we did. Because that meant we started with a dozen oysters and … YUM! Soft and succulent, no grittiness, and both the cocktail sauce (add as much horseradish as you dare) and the vinegar sauce were great. The old fashioned was spectacular, with a strong hint of cinnamon that really made it stand out. Then I had the shrimp & grits (hey, we’re in the South) and they were fabulous. Rich, filling, generous portion, the kind of meal you want to lick the plate if they’d let you. Would definitely return to check out other menu items!

the food and service was great. I really enjoyed the cocktails, the interesting and unique takes on southern cuisine and the decor and atmosphere is an oasis amidst a sporting arena.

Definitely not your typical menu, so only come here if you are feeling adventurous. The food was ok, but not a place I will return to. FYI, suggest to park in the Battery Red parking garage for this place.

We left the Braves game right after the 7th inning stretch, and decided to get oysters. They indicated we could get a drink because they closed in 5 minutes. We asked if we could get oysters and shrimp and they obliged. Michael the bartender, the kitchen staff and the manager, went above and beyond. Being a general manager of restaurant I give this staff 5 Stars for staying open to accommodate our party. It was our friends birthday and it made the day. Cheers Staff.

We were at The Battery to catch a game that ended up being a rain out. Garden & Gun club had the shortest wait time for a table, but I’m so glad we made this choice. Our waiter was phenomenal (I’m terrible, I wish I remembered his name). The app we ordered wasn’t our cup of tea (Steak tartar toast) but it looked beautifully prepared. Entrees were amazing (pork chops and lobster roll). Drinks were on point too! We had a fantastic time, especially for it being on a whim. If you’re in the area, I’d absolutely try and fit Garden & Gun club in for a bite.

My family and I decided to go early to an evening Braves game so we could experience The Battery. We knew the wait at Garden & Gun Club would be long without a reservation, so we put our name on the waiting list and enjoyed a few other spots in The Battery while we waited. General Manager Gina Lee did a great job of honoring our very specific inside seating request on a hot August evening. We dug in to a variety of small offerings and sampled as many things as possible. Everything we had, including the oysters, was top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. I echo the comments in other reviews about the portions being small for the price, but going in with that knowledge and understanding helps manage one’s expectations. Also consider making a reservation if you aren’t the type who doesn’t mind wandering around and enjoying some of the other offerings during your wait (our wait was 90 minutes, but we looked at that as an opportunity to go to several places for a drink in the meantime). Make sure to visit the restrooms as the decorations are not to be missed.

We are here before a concert at the Roxy and the food was wonderful! I love the Garden and Gun magazine and you can get the Southern feel in the restaurant. I with their menu had more selections but overall good food. I had the fried pork chop and my wife got the hamburger. Both were really good! I ordered an Old Fashion and it was one of the best ones I've ever had. Great service also.

Limited seating so had to sit at the bar. Decent bar food. Seems popular for the whiskeys, Bourbons, etc.
Business trip
Only one night spent at the Omni and did not know, what to expect in the area. When we found the G & G club, just had to go in for a quick drink and appetizer. Wish we could have had dinner there. The bartender was very good and mixed up my favorite version of a mint julep with no problem with the detour of the norm. We had a pimento cheese appetizer, and oh yes it was gooood!
