This place is on a nice, quier part of town. We visited for lunch and had a great experience. I tried the gyro plate with lamb and it was delicious. The lamb was super tasty and cooked to perfection. This is a great place for seating outside on a nice sunny day. Recommended!

Always amazing! I live across the street and eat here often. Love the daily specials and their new menu. The chicken gyro can never do you wrong. How do they get so much flavor?? Amazing value for the price paid. I think they do breakfast? The staff is always helpful and friendly. Order online ahead or you could be waiting in line during peak times. Definitely Portland's best kept secret!

This neighborhood restaurant is a secret gourmet delight. The very best octopus salad in my life. If you are going to try your first octopus, this is the place. If you've had lots of octopus, this version will be your new standard. It is moist, not at all chewy, and exquisitely flavored. Served on a well dressed bed of assorted lettuces, this is enough for two people and reasonably priced. And the house wine is $5 a glass! The lamb and pork was too spicy to be a real gyros sandwich, but it was a great wrap. Finish with baklava and congratulate yourself on your great taste...and tell the chef, too!

We couldn't stop talking about the sandwiches at Gastro Mania. My husband had the porchetta and was speechless. Crispy pork and oils on amazing bread. I had the foie gras burger and loved it. Highly recommend!

I forgot what a great little place this was. The chef fish salad with octopus, salmon, tuna and salmon with squid ink rice dressed salad and pita is a steal for $14. The other disses including the salmon burrito are also excellent.

Visited 2nd time for lunch last week and food was great the 1st time, better this time. Had lamb gyro the 1st time and beef brisket sandwich this time. Gyro was great but the brisket was a stunner. Great sandwich, really enough for 2 meals at an astounding price of $8.50, including a small salad. Since they recently started staying open later it's going to be a great stop for a quick dinner.

The two people that were working when we stopped in yesterday for lunch were very nice and accommodating. We ordered the octopus salad and the lamb and pork in a salad. The salad part of our meals was very good. However, the octopus had no flavor except for an unappetizing oil taste. The lamb and pork had good flavor but was really greasy. This problem is easy to fix, which is why I took the time to do a review. Just shy of being excellent.

I ate here last Saturday after looking at the pictures of the food on the line, but the actual food! Delicious Chef Special. The octopus was so tender I could cut it with a fork. I would recommend this resturants to anyone. Not only great food, but also very reasonable. You won't go wrong eating here. And the owner was also exceptionally friendly.

We crave the food at this small restaurant in NW Portland. Super fresh, perfect sandwiches, salads featuring grilled fish/seafood and tasty meats. The grilled veggie pita with warm bubbly bread and yummy salad is only $7! My hubby usual orders something with meat, he’s a big fan of the octopus salad and the spicy lamb sandwich. Ample selection of beer and wine. This place has everything we look for in a casual restaurant.

This tiny restaurant is essentially a food cart. They have sandwiches, gyros (my husband said his was good), salads and three entrees written on a chalk board. However, they were only serving two, which is odd since they are just written on the board in chalk and could have been erased since they had been out of the third item for weeks. "He is going to take it off the menu", one of the girls said, which doesn't explain why it is still there or who 'he' is, since he wasn't there. I asked for another item on the chalk board menu but no, they were out of that too (grilled veggies). I asked for a side order of a third item but no, that was not an option.. So I struck out three out of three times. The cooks- or should I say reheaters (since the entrees are precooked, and all they do is reheat it) are two young girls. The food is served on paper plates with plastic cutlery. My entree was well priced but over-salted. So was the salad. We asked for no onions but they put onions in both the salad and gyro anyway. It was pretty good food cart food but unfortunately, I didn't realize that in time and was expecting restaurant food.

Amazing lunch spot for a quick bite! The food was really delicious, fresh and awesome flavors. The hummus is fantastic. We ordered the salmon gyro and gyro chicken plate... I would definitely recommend this little spot!

My daughter showed us this place she found on Yelp. It turned out to be a very nice place with tasty healthy foods. The price is really reasonable and the foods beat most of the pricy restaurants we have tried during our two-week road trip!

Gastro mania is a convenient option for Alphabet City and edge of Pearl District. They have gyros and other Mediterranean options. It’s convenient and the gyros are on par with other places.

I've never had gyro before in my life so this was definitely a good one to try for a first timer like me. I got dragged here by my coworkers since I was in town. I ordered the salmon. I didn't know what to expect at all. First off, the portions are huge! It came with a salad on the side and there was so much salmon. I'm glad I tried it, and all for $8.00. The only thing is it's a fairly small space so there's not much seating area inside; it can easily get full. There are tables outside but on a rainy day you may want to order to go.

Their seafood is really fresh and delicious and the portions are generous. The staff is very courteous and unpretentious. I very highly recommend them.

This small (very small) NW neighborhood restaurant is a real find. Greek/Mediterranean inspired dishes. Based on reviews, I tried the octopus plate - simply the most tender octopus I have ever had. Served on a bed of squid ink rice and side of what appeared to be homemade hummus along with slices of pita bread. My wife had the brisket - super tender. I must respectfully disagree with a previous reviewer - definitely not just food truck fare (although there are some really really good food trucks in Portland!) By noon a line was forming out the door, so come early!

I am a little afraid to write this because I don't want this restaurant to become too popular. Selfish I know. Gastro Mania is amazing. Excellent, well executed food made with love. And at incredibly reasonable prices. Today husband and I had the chef's special salad with large servings of salmon, tuna, octopus and shrimp, grilled to perfection. Our friends had the porchetta sandwich and lamb gyro. They raved about their lunches. Our friend said the porchetta sandwich was as good as the last one he had in Rome. The dolmas wrapped in bacon apps are also a must. The owner Alex is a gracious host who cares deeply about great food. As a foodie, I always expect to spend a lot for special meals. But Gastro Mania has managed to produce outstanding food fit for foodies-- at a value.

I went here with a friend who knew I liked Greek Food. This is Greek food with a twist. It is a very small venue and tight quarters inside, but the food it turns out is simply amazing. The menu while not large, has many variations on a theme and unique offerings. I struggled for a while trying to decide what to order, my friend ordered the brisket- I finally decided on the "Foie Gras" burger- a mix of land and pork, topped with cheese and a huge hunk of fore gras( a guilty pleasure). After I ordered, I suffered a moment of buyer's regret after studying the menu for a while...but as I said it was just a moment. The dinners came and I was impressed with the amount of food on one plate! The burger was almost bigger than the bun and everything was barely contained by the bun. The Brisket dish was equally large....great value for the price. The burger was cooked perfectly ( and I am not a burger guy) and literally melted in my mouth. The flavors blended perfectly and just complimented each beautifully--it truly was one of those burgers that you want to eat as fast as possible, yet, you also want to savor each bite. The fries were done excellently as well....nice and crispy, delicate on the inside. My friend stated the brisket was done equally as brilliant. I was impressed that the owner stopped by the table with a couple of bottle sparkling waters to go with our meal. He handed them to us and said, "thanks for stopping by". This is one of those "mom and pop" places that are a very rare treat to find.......honest food at an honest price and a willingness to make you happy. I was very happy and full when finished....this place is a winner all around....price, friendliness and value....the fact that is in a neighborhood is a good thing....it becomes one of those rare treasures that you only share with others that can keep a secret!

This small eatery is a real find. Open everyday but Sunday from 11-8. Great lunches and dinners. I tried the salmon with salad and was shocked at the large size for the price ($9) and I had the salmon gyro on my second visit. I asked for a different dressing and they gladly adapted to my needs.

Gyros here are affordable ($7), large and come with a side salad. I have heard that the salads and sandwiches are wonderful. They just added wine and beer and are open evenings M-F until 8:30 pm. Super friendly and warm service. Go check them out! Close to DoveLewis Animal Hospital.

Their chicken burrito is super tasty , served fresh and hot , super fast , nice customer service , I’ll recommend it to everyone

This was totally off the beaten path for us. We were tourists and had just been visiting the Pittock Mansion. We were all starving but not wanting fast food, and we didn't see many options near us. This place is tucked away in a neighborhood, but there is a public parking lot diagonally across the street from the cafe. We sat outside in the shade and had huge plates of food. They were all made fresh while we waited. I had salmon gyros, and everyone else had either the pork and lamb gyros or the grilled chicken plates. They give you big salads, rice and pita or naan. We all loved our food. Highly recommend this place.

This is my new standard for Octopus. Very tender, not rubbery and wonderful flavors. Amazing! We also had the lamb shwarma which is a notch above the others. A must visit.

What a gem in the Pearl! Unassuming little place with the most scrumptios delicious food. The brisket was to die for, the octopus salad mouth-watering, and every bite a wonderful harmony of flavors, texture and aroma, perfectly cooked and served. We'll be back again and often.

I really enjoyed the lamb plate - fresh ingredients, flavorful, huge portions, and want to try the shrimp plate next time as it looked excellent. The limited seating is very tight, making it unenjoyable when the lunch crowd descends on this place. The server couldn't walk past my chair and the counter stool behind me without one of us moving. Difficult to navigate through the huge crowd of people waiting for their take away orders. It's a very small and a very popular place. I highly recommend arriving early or waiting until the lunch rush is over.

Located in the heart of Pearl District, this is distinctively the best choice for gourmet food. My party enjoyed a Beef Brisket sandwich and a variety of gyros. I would definitely return for more :)

I dragged my mother here. Admittedly, it is not much to look at and she was skeptical. She claimed not to normally like gyro or tuna but I insisted that we share a seafood salad and a gyro sandwich. She is a convert! Every bit of the salad was delicious from the seafood to the dressing to the grilled bread that came with it. We sopped up every last morsel and drip from our plates and moved on to the gyro. Really, it should have a different name because the meat was so flavorful and luscious that it had no resemblance to the dry stuff that usually comes in a pits. The meat hunks were sooo good and the pita, warm and soft and the vegetables crisp and fresh. Several days later my mom dragged me back.

Consistently delicious and quick. Order online to skip the lines. The gyro with chicken is awesome!! So flavorful with the perfect balance of tenderness and spiciness. The staff is always smiling, quick and helpful. I really appreciate how they remember me and take time to make me feel welcome. I have all my out of town visitors eat here and it's always a hit. Hidden gem and so happy they are in my neighborhood. Do yourself a favor and eat here - definitely worth going out of your way to get this experience!! Inside is a bit small so take away is a great option. But if the weather is nice, you can sit outdoors.
You have to eat here while in Portland.
Great food counter served. Reasonable price for Portland. I had the Foie Gras burger and it was great. The place was cozy and your food will be prepared by the Chef himself or at least closely overseen as he was there at the kitchen.
