Just bad because it was over seasonned and there was a dress code so my family couldnt come in because they had shorts

July 28 2024 2:15 am: I am a resident at SLS LUX. I ate at the restaurant at 9pm then went to another establishment and then came back at 2 am to the SLS bar. The tall African American security guard grabbed me by the neck and told me to “ get the f out”. I talked the Adriana from the SLS Hotel front desk and she said Gekko has NO affiliation with SLS and they can do “what ever they want”. As a resident at SLS, I would think they would treat residents with respect but both Adriana and the front desk male from the SLS resident said they can’t do anything. If you’re a resident or hotel guest I would AVOID GEKKO AT ALL COST. I regret spending the money I did on dinner at 9pm. Gekko should treat SLS residents and hotel guests with a bit more respect. After visiting Gekko multiple times, I will not be back and will tell fellow residents to beware of Gekko and their inappropriate security team.

I confess that it was with doubts because I thought that the fact that Bad Bunny was a member was only famous for that but NO the place is very delicious, with good drinks and the prices are not that high.

The place is really nice. Drinks are ok. The waiting time when we already had a reservation beforehand was something, but the fact that they didnt include in the bill the drinks took before, at the lounge, with the whole consumption and the fact that we had to look up for the hostess later on up to front and for her to guide us strictly to the bar before asking us where we wanted to be seated was shameless. Is a really overpriced spot for the awful experience. Second thing. The girl who served the wine just came from nowhere, poured it and left just like that. Didnt even said hi or waited for us to check it or whatsoever. The hostesses, drink runner awful. The guy from the door, the waitress and the runners were on point. Not coming back though.

Great night! Love the service! Very creative, profesional and loving. Extraordinary cocktails. Love the ribeye and the dessert…extraordinary experience! Highly recommended!!!!

Food is excellent- quality of ingredients ,presentation and taste are superb but did not feel that the service and experience matched up to the hefty bill. Service was flawed- should never receive starter before drinks served. Asked numerous times for our drinks before they arrived. The management did however provide a complimentary dessert at end of meal to compensate. Don’t expect this type of service when prices are premium. I did notice that server opened a new bottle of sparkling water as we were about to leave- this was charged for on bill - I know should have complained but chose to ignore …. The interior of restaurant is beautiful but would not return given that the high price and overall experience.

Gekko is the most luxurious and incredible place to eat as well as grab drinks !! Went there during my stay with my husband and the experience was phenomenal. Walter the manager took great care of us. The bar/ lounge area is best with music as well as a wasabi cocktail that’s unbelievable! My husband couldn’t stop talking about the wagu steak and lobster fried rice he had. Will be back next time in Miami !

First and final Visit to Gekko – A Disappointing Experience I chased Gekko for the first—and definitely last—time. I made a reservation (standard location) for 10:30 PM. Upon arrival, I was told I had to wait 45 minutes and would be seated outside. By “outside,” they meant on the sidewalk, with no fan, no ambiance, and no amenities—just a table and chairs exposed to the heat. We waited nearly 45 minutes at that outdoor table with no sign of service. Thankfully, a waiter eventually came and did his best. But let’s be clear: this “outdoor area” seems like something created to squeeze in more guests—completely detached from the style, design, and experience shown in photos or inside the restaurant. It felt like being in a completely different, lesser place. Miami was extremely hot, and we were sweating due to the high temperatures. It is unacceptable to sell this space as a dining area when it lacks basic conditions like fans or proper ventilation. This ended up being the worst $500 I’ve ever spent. Poor ambiance, average food, lack of customer care, and no regard for guests who reserve in advance, leave their credit card, and follow your rules—expecting, in return, a minimum standard of service and respect.

Unique place . Different . Great service . The food is good and can be expensive . The bread is must order . The steak American -Japanese are good to try ($$$) Cons : Very loud music and the tables are extremely close. No privacy for the price

Terrible service, they make you wait for hours, no one serves you, they are rude, super expensive and the food has nothing special. I would never go back, there are places with much tastier food and better service. Avoid having a bad time and book somewhere else.

Impeccable service, enjoyed the warm and welcoming reception. Beautiful restaurant, loved the menu. I recommend starting with the bread and waygu crispy rice. We ordered for the table and tried a few different specialties. The waygu steak, lobster fried rice, purple potatoe puree, onion rings were all a hit!!

This spot looked cool, staff was very rude and the food was not good at all. kicked us out after we complained that the food was taking too long. Save your money and Don’t come here!

Do NOT recommend. We had made a reservation for 11pm, they told us we have a 15 minute window in case we were late. We arrived on time and the first thing we saw was a massive line of people waiting to be seated on the reservations they already made, like us. When we asked to be seated in our reservation, they said we had to wait 45 minutes as people that had reservations earlier in the day specifically for outside tables, were seated inside instead on the clients request, so ALL the people waiting in the big line were people that made reservations for inside but were NOT accomodated because people that had reserved tables for OUTSIDE changed their mind when arrived and wanted to be accomodated inside instead, this lead to a massvie frustration for many people, not to mentioned we ended up waiting for an hour to be seated for our dinner because we had to wait for people that took our tables because the service is s***. Assort people where they made reservations and not make other people wait, don't f*** around so you don't find out. People will leave a negative review. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Absolutely unforgettable night at Gekko! The vibe, the music, and the energy were all next level. Every detail—from the ambiance to the service—was flawless. Easily one of the best nightlife experiences in the city. Can’t wait to go back!

We reserved for dinner to celebrate a birthday, arrived 20 minutes earlier and waited 40 minutes after and no table. We informed the hostess and no one made any amends. We informed them that we'd booked the reservation for a birthday occasion, specified seating next to the chefs. Reason has no place in this utterly mismanaged item.

The place was very nice but the waitress spilled all the beer over my dress and my husband’s pants and barely said sorry. Didn’t even give us the spilled beer on the house (as probably any other restaurant would 🤷🏻♀️). Disappointed.

Read all of my reviews, you will notice I always prioritize the customer service received even over the food. But in the case of this restaurant Gekko in miami, it really doesn’t matter.. neither is remotely decent. The poor (very) starts the second your walk in, your forced to wait for entire party, then even if you arrive on time for your reservation, made to wait 10 minutes (in hope you order a drink from the standing only bar at entrance) once you do … you’re guided to a extremely dark restaurant with a (fake) center sushi station. Up to this time, to be honest, it was basically all right. The issue with this restaurant is that their entire existence is based on their celebrity co-owners, and they take that to be a calling card without having the quality, atmosphere or crowd to justify the price an hassle . The steaks are basically $150 for a 6oz Buffet at dennys type of sub cut of bottom NY strip, very disappointing .. the sushi is served cold (not from the actual kitchen at the center) and at $49, expected much more, the 20% gratuity is added automatically to our 3 people $400 dollar bill and when (after 1:30 hour at the place) we asked to buy a second bottle of wine, we were refused by saying that they already needed the table.. really not justified, after an hour an half at a premium cost. Other issues I had was that the wine list is totally fake, they dont have the wines that are one their list, i estimate about half are there so that people think they have that premium selection but when you actually order them, they dont have. We ordered 2 of their wagyu recommended plates, both over cooked and had that salty aftertaste you get from old stored cuts. At this supposed level of restaurant there are basic things that this restaurant does not meet.. and even if its catered to a party celebrity scene.. the people there in general not well dressed, no party atmosphere , music very low and poor sounding, no lights whatever except for the center fake kitchen which is hilarious. Basically will never recommend this dump to anyone, much less ever visit again.

We came here for second time because we really liked it the first time but this time it was nor the same, service was bad we had to wait 30 minutes for our table even though we had reservation a were 15 minutes early to it and food was great but they only put chopsticks at your table like there’s some food you actually need forks and spoons and when we ask for them our service took to long to bring it our food was already cold that we had to take it to go and leave. i feel like they were way too full and just didn’t give the best service this time and it’s sad because we went for a very special occasion it was my husband’s birthday and i wanted him to get a very special moment

A beautiful atmosphere, pleasant food, careful attention, all the staff from the reception are very pleasant, the cocktails are very rich, different but pleasant flavors. My disappointment was the bathroom!!! Dirty ladies' room without scratched door paper, a coat of paint was missing, the whole place was well-kept, elegant, but what happened to the bathroom?

GEKKO (located in Miami’s Brickell Avenue neighborhood) is the latest restaurant offering of Groot Hospitality (GEKKO of David Grutman and Bad Bunny). True to form, GEKKO has tasty, high priced cuisine in a stylish (Japanese) ambiance. The seating was somewhat “crowded” (for a table for 2 persons). The soundtrack was pleasantly not overly loud. Service was excellent (THANK YOU VANESSA G. - great service & suggestions!) We enjoyed: Cocktails - Margarita & Lost In Translation (whiskey drink sweetened w/ apple flavors) - both were good ($19 per drink) Dynamite Crab Cake($34) - VERY GOOD!! Our favorite food item of the night - lump crab meat; Asian mayo - yum!! Sadly, too small a portion Dover sole($85) - very good/size-able fish - sesame-ponzu flavors tasted a little too salty (Dover Sole portion enough for 2 people sharing) Crispy Snapper ($71) - bite-sized battered bites of fried snapper w/ red & green dipping sauces (a perfectly tasty entree, albeit one that a neighborhood Chinese restaurant could serve for 20’ish dollars) Japanese eggplant ($16) w/ ponzu - DELICIOUS! Black Forest cakes, crème’s, & cherry ice cream ($18) - good (but not great) Gekko adds an automatic 20% service charge to above food & drink pricing Overall, GEKKO is pricey, but we enjoyed food, drink, ambiance, service, & will return to sample more of the menu.

The only thing better than our delicious food was our incredible service. The bluefin tuna maki, hamachi crudo and scallop were divine. The waygu steak, vegan noodles, crispy snapper, fried rice and eggplant side were outstanding. Drinks and desserts were awesome. The restaurant is gorgeous. But our stars were Jackson and Jordan who took exceptional care of us. The best!

This was the worst place to dine at! they didn’t let me in cuz of my attire (the pair shorts) Would not recommend, better customer service at mcdonalds.

We visited Gekko last night to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was very underwhelming. I had called ahead to let them know it was a special occasion, but there was no acknowledgment at all—no birthday wishes, no gesture, nothing. Despite making reservations over a month ago, we were seated inside when we had requested otherwise. The overall service felt rushed, almost as if they wanted to turn the table quickly rather than allow us to enjoy the evening. As for the food, it was just okay—not what we expected for the price point or reputation. The most disappointing part was my son’s girlfriend’s steak, which was served raw even though she clearly ordered it medium well. For such a milestone celebration, we were hoping for a much better experience. Sadly, it fell short in both service and food quality.

terrible food and have an annoying dress code, also wouldn't let my king neon in. My food was undercooked and very expensive for no reason

Came here last night for my friend’s birthday because we are huge fans of GROOT Hospitality and Bad Bunny. Arrived 15 minutes early for our 10 PM reservation. Caught a drunk at the bar while we waited for our table (to be fair the drink was delicious). Followed up on our reservation status at 10:30 at which time they told us it would only be 10 more minutes. Our party of 4 followed up 2 more times at which time the hostess kept telling us our table was almost ready. At 11 pm we spoke with the manager, Brian, who basically told us he couldn’t do anything to seat us- so we left hungry at 11:15. Happy bday to my friend :(

Service was terrible. Food was barely ok. Price was beyond overpriced for something that’s barely ok. Skip this place. Just do not go. 3 thumbs down.

$600 per couple, sharing appetizer, side and dessert, but with a decent Napa Cab., priced at the very low end of the wine list. If you go for the Japanese Wagyu, the ticked for a couple will go into the $1,000. We both had American Wagyu tenderloin. Very nice, but nothing special. My was ordered medium rare but came our medium. Peppercorn sauce had the peppercorn grounded, when they should be whole. The eggplant side and the lobster dumplings, together with the wine, were the stars of the evening. Service tried to be upscale but it’s rough at the edge. For a tourist that wants to try Miami vibe, a trip to this place could be a good idea. For us, just a kick to go back to Puerto Rico and have fund telling friends and family that had dinner at Bad Bunny’s joint.

The food and ambiance is excellent, as was our server Derek. Milk bread is a must. The lobster fried rice was excellent as was the other dishes.

Stephanie was the best part of our experience in this place .she was friendly and very professional and also food and drink was top notch .we will definitely come back

Too expensive for what they offer. Make no sense. The quantities served do not make sense in relation to the price. I don't recommend

Hello, I'll start with the entrance that for being *Gekko* they don't even have a nice waiting room, just a bar with nowhere to sit, my appointment was at 9 and they passed us almost 1 hour later, all that time standing and we ordered drinks that stopped They were quite bad, they should improve the drinks, for my taste the drink is a little overpriced but not so much that as the poor quality, we were 3 couples and each drink was $40 but hardly any alcohol, pure lemon, then we went to the table, the waiter named Jorge P has excellent attention to his customers, he always served us with a lot of patience and charisma so 100 points to him, the food was very delicious and excellent, I just think that they should improve in the wait and especially the drinks, the atmosphere is good, that is my humble opinion about *Gekko*.

Four of us enjoyed a fun evening at Gekko. The trendy new restaurant in Miami is both posh and comfortable. The main dining room is built around a beautiful Sushi Bar. Service was impeccable, music was not too loud and every item we ordered was delicious. Our favorites were the crab cake, lobster dumplings and Waygu steak. Highly recommend.

Felt very uncomfortable the whole time. Because me and my family were waiting when suddenly a few men shouted us out because we were looking at them

A place I won't return. It is incredible that a Puerto Rican place is so racist towards the Puerto Ricans themselves. I don't recommend it, the security is disgusting. I'm from the industry and the truth is, the entrance staff is disgusting! They don't let you talk

Bad vibes rude bouncers food overpriced and not that great don't waste your time or money at this establishment much better restaurants in Brickell

I was extremely impressed with this restaurant. Came to celebrate my Nephew’s birthday and we were extremely impressed by the service, quality of the meat, all around it was amazing!

The food and ambiance is excellent, as was our server Derek. They even have an attendant in the bathroom. It is pricy, but so worth it. It’s an experience.

Terrible experience! The food is ok not worth the money, but the service is horrific! They give everyone a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes and if your not done eating by than, than they don’t allow you to order coffee or dessert I have never heard of anything like this! We spent 1,100$ for 4 people and got the check thrown to us and when we said we still want dessert they told us our time limit is up I asked to speak to the manager the general manger was rude and does not care about customers! He said everyone gets into 1 hour and 45 min and they need more seatings to cover their cost! Atrocious! Go to Osaka! LPM, Klaw is expensive, but service is superb! Avoid gekko and their disgusting service and overpriced food!!!

So we came for a late dinner on a Wednesday- I've heard even when you have a reso, you have to wait - obviously not applicable to our dining time. Look, service, meh. I found it hard to order a second drink, my first cocktail had easy modifications that were definitely ignored, our appetizers came long before our starting cocktails, and we were blindly recommended the most expensive wine by the glass, even when we described liking the complete opposite. So look, don't go for top service. I normally wouldn't give a five star rating strictly on food, but I feel compelled here. I regularly eat at top restaurants all over the world, and had low expectations for this new trendy place. But honestly - every dish...every one, I would go back for...the lobster dumplings, striploin (I have VERY high standards for steak), the waygu crispy rice...and wow - that wedge salad (I know, please just trust). I will definitely be back, and can't wait to try everything. Just excellent food.

From the second we arrived we were well taken care of. The service and food is first class. We will definitely be spening more time here when in Miami.

The decor is rather simple and cozy, the music is good, the dishes were very delicious, friendly service, the prices a little high, the air conditioning was too strong, however the toilets are in a pitiful state compared to the quality of the restaurant. I was extremely disappointed

What a bunch of arrogant people the staff at Gekko. Too much attitude for mediocre food. There are too many options today in Miami, that this attitude starting at the door just does not work. They have this arrogant Frenchman who comes from Papi Steak; what an arrogant a.. period. Not worth it.

Gekko in Miami is a great option for unique and quality food and drinks in a cool atmosphere. I really like the location and vibe that they have created here. Well worth it for the experience that they have available here. I have had a memorable time with each meal I have been here for.

I went with friends to celebrate a promotion. Food was very good, but portions were tiny for the price. Staff was rude and service was terrible. I won't be back. There are a million other places where I can spend my money.

Food was good, ambience was good but waiter and all the staff was too pushy on is getting mote food. First restaurante that is supposed to be sophisticated that I feel that I either eat more or I have to leave …

Extremely expensive for the portions look at the waygu taco this is a baby taco with a regular presentation and very ok taste ! What a disappointment 🥲

I had a wonderful experience at Gekko! The decor is amazing as the room is adorned in interesting shaped lights, drapes, and images of flowers. My favorite is the dragon wall at the bar. The food was delicious, I love Asian cuisine and each dish I ordered had their own twist, displayed beautifully on the plates. Service was great too! Definitely plan on going back!

This was our first time at this very plush, eye-appealing restaurant in Brickell, and we all had a great time. It is a collaboration between David Grutman and Bad Bunny to present this upscale Japanese inspired steakhouse to Miami. The ambiance is elegance and perfection. The crowd was beautifully dressed to match the decor. Everyone from the valet, door greeter, hostess, servers, and restroom attendant were excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Her recommendations made our evening an enjoyable one. Our water glasses were always filled, and we were always checked on. We basically ordered several appetizers so that we could enjoy more selections. We were a group of five. Everything that we tried was delicious. Our drinks were really good, too. I can't remember all the names of them because we were there several months ago. We had a great time here and look forward to going back again soon! Parking is hard to find but they do have valet. We ubered to make it easier.

There was a few things to love about this place but also a lot to hate. First, the food quality and taste was excellent. The Ginger salad, milk bread, and lobster dishes tasted superb and delicious. Of course, it was overpriced, but we kind of expected it for its location (In the middle of Brickell) and its owners (Groutman and Bad Bunny). Now, the service was a different story. Our Waiter, Kristian S. Was very condescending and rude. He asked me sarcastically to say please after ordering my second drink. We had a reservation for 8pm and finished our food by 9pm. The table holding time at Gekko is 1hr, 45min. However, Kristian came three times to our table, even right after he handed me the check and told me to leave. He said, “I can escort you to our lounge right behind the dining room if you just want to sit and chill. My wife got really pissed. We just spent 300 dollars on a meal and some drinks, and now this ash hole waiter wants to kick us out! And It’s only been 1 hour and 3 minutes! This was so absurd and appalling that we called the Manager Natasha to the table. We informed her of the events, and she was actually very nice and told us to go to the lounge and she would give us some drinks, table, and send a Server. So she escorted us to the lounge, only to find it nearly empty, freezing, and with a zoned out DJ playing boring techno trance. To make matters worse, our server didn’t even show up, so we didn’t even get a drink! What a terrible place! Great food, but some of the worse, rude service that I’ve ever encountered.

Food was very good but place is smaller than I expected, we were sat too close to other people. The A15 hot stone steak was amazing as well as the famous dulce de leche dessert

I am surprised at the bad reviews. Although pricey, which you should know before you decide to go, I cannot imagine having any complaints. My experience was absolutely amazing. The ambiance is beautiful and service was friendly and on point. I tried the crispy snapper, lobster fried rice, Japanese milk bread, wagyu crispy rice, and 24k gold leaf sushi. All were delicious and beautifully presented on the plate. All the sushi was fresh and delicious. From the moment you hit the red carpet like entrance, it is an experience you will not forget.

What a horrible place. The food is poor at best, the attitude on steroids, and the decor okay. Too many better places to chose from. Don’t waste your time going here. As bad as Sexy Fish. Go to LPM or Zuma. Much better.

Bad staff…….they were very mean and didnt behave. Also the prices are to much for that type of food.

Went for my Bday and Wow!!!!! What an amazing and unique experience i had. Best Birthday celebration ever. Great service by Maykel, really on point and really knowledgeable on his menu. From dinner to the lounge. At the bar excellent service from Amanda what a mixologist! She made the effort of making sure to pair me with a delicious cocktail that I would love! 10/10. Finish buying a bottle to end up my night how it should be and all of the girls from the lounge were the best. They even brought a sign saying happy Bday! Overall a great place to have a party/bday celebration.

Worth the Hype! We read the mixed reviews and still rolled the dice! We went on a Tuesday at 9:30pm and it was empty, by 10:00pm it was packed. Cool vibe and all the beautiful people were dressed to impress. Service staff was fantastic - professional, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was better than expected (based on previous reviews).

Had important business meeting and was totally disappointed. Food is So So and definitely not worth the money. Whoever is the Manager at this place should be doing the dishes not managing. A Big Fat Hell NO to this place and it’s disrespectful service !!

Charming place and very good food. I took 4 full menus. Service fell far short of expectations. The reservation was from 10 pm to 11.45 pm. Rush by the waiters to make us conclude dinner with bill, not required, brought to the table at 11 pm. The dishes never arrived at the same time, the side dish was stressed because it did not arrive. The dishes were cleared with still the last bite in the mouth, the dessert brought that we still had to finish the side dish. He politely pointed out to our waitress that he did not appreciate this mode, and replied that some customers take an hour to eat chips, a rude and inadequate feedback considering that the time available to us was still almost an hour! From a restaurant of this level the Service component cannot be overlooked.

Amazing food and place was beyond stunning .I would highly suggest I wrong since no parking on site, this place is definitely Miami style
Horrible
Horrible service and the general manager rude and didn’t care about our complaints. Last time in that place. Plenty of other restaurants that value your business.
