Made a reservation for an early lunch on Monday. Wasn't needed as the place was empty at 11:30 but better safe than sorry. Were seated at a "ledge" table, even though we hadn't reserved one (check their site, there is a fee to reserve those tables). Service was quick and friendly. I had the burger, she had the garden salad plus the "poached local" tuna. We asked what that meant, were told it was fresh tuna that is mashed up and cooked. It really seemed more like something out of a can, with added herbs and celery, but it wasn't bad. $6 though, so be aware.

After hiking Torrey Pines and walking around La Jolla Cove, we had lunch on the top deck. The place was packed, the people watching was fun, the service was excellent, and the food was good, not great. The view was about as good as it gets. We could have stayed for hours watching the sea lions play in the cove, along with the water birds, divers, snorkelers, kayakers, boats.

We had lunch at George's on the terrace and had the best table with a spectacular view. We spent much of the lunch looking at the seals below. Our food was good, with a few missteps. Wine came with cork in it (which was replaced), our daughter's burger tasted funny (they kindly exchanged it for chicken strips) and my husband was supposed to have avocado on his eggs benedict but it wasn't there. Our waiter was extremely patient and very friendly in spite of all of our complaints! Would definitely return.

I gave this a so-so review for several reasons. We had a table for ten and 9 of us were on time. They absolutely refused to seat us until ALL of us were there. They said it was company policy. So nine of us had to mill around the hostess station until the last guy came. It was ridiculous! NINE of us could have been ordering drinks and appetizers…while we waited for that ONE last guy. Such an inconvenience…for what?….punishment?…rule for the sake of rule?…control? Anyway, when we were finally seated, we ordered and nobody had anything more to say than ….”meh”…about their entrees. The food was okay. Just okay. Where this place DOES get high marks, however, is location, sunsets, view, ambience. Can’t beat that!

When we were visiting LaJolla we decided to have lunch at George's which is in the plaza. The view is absolutely beautiful but I must say I was disappointed in the food. I'm a big fan of fish tacos but didn't really care for these. They were rather spicy. My husband got the chicken sandwich and said it was spicy also. I don't think I would eat here again.

Beautiful views of the coast. Very good food (small portions and expensive). We have dined here often especially with visitors. Unfortunately we will look for alternatives in the future because of the 4 % surcharge which is punishment of the customers for passing the minimum wage in California. If you need to increase prices for profit, do so honestly rather than seeming to serve meals at a lower cost then adding 4% as a surcharge. We routinely reduce our tip by 4% when we run across this scam.

This place is wonderful! Let's start with the fact that the views are stunning. Especially if you get a seat on the glass, you get to see La Jolla Cove and listen to the sea lions! (Note to all who plan to come, highly recommend making a reservation!) secondly, the food and the drinks were wonderful. The 2nd floor is still shaded and was amazing with the open-air seating. All in all, this was a great experience at the cove watching the waves and snorkelers. Will definitely be back again.

This place has great views indeed. The food isn't anything special. We ordered guacamole, burger, tacos. The"guac" is actually avocado with since salt (not even enough). The burger was good. The tacos were okay. During our visit, the server cane by once, at the end of the meal, to check on us. At that point, we were pretty much done so they lost on a service round of drinks. Didn't feel compelled to order dessert, so went to haven dasz instead. Overall expensive for what I expected.

Pricey, but very good dinner with an open-air view over the Cove. This iconic spot has managed to stay fresh over the years. The service was perfect. I was surprised at the somewhat limited selections, but I’m sure the pandemic lockdown affected their normal operations. I definitely recommend it but not a family spot.

All dining is outdoors, something we understood, but it was not very comfortable. Basic tables and heating elements were fixed so they could not be moved any closer. Everyone was provided a blanket for laps which was helpful, but for the cost and view (no view in January by dinner time...too dark) is just something we would not do again. The food, however, was very good.

Oh how the once mighty have fallen. What had been the place to 'See and be seen,' has become the place to ignore and avoid. Numerous waiters walking past long-empty plates. A mess of paper towels both on the floor and overflowing the receptacle. Continualy having to ask for water glasses to be refilled. Duck Confit that was so dry and tough, it could have been served as duck jerky. Yes, the bathroom mess and dehydrated duck were brought to the attention of the waitstaff.

Started out with local draft blonde beer. Had excellent fish and capped off with one of their deserts. Sat at the bar for dinner

Not only was the food, the drinks and the dessert fantastic, the host, Maddie and our waiter, Emma were amazing with their service. I would highly recommend the restaurant as a must not just for their views but also for their food and service. We were a group of friends for our 38th year college reunion and it was a great way to kick it off.

Some of our food was very good….sticky toffee pudding and the corn soup. The view is beautiful. The atmosphere is nice-very lively. However, the terrible service ruined the evening. It was 1-1/2 hours before we got our entrees. The staff did a poor job checking in with us. Other tables were in the same boat as us. Disappointing.

This was a really nice and quaint place to eat lunch! The food was exceptional with a variety to choose from! We really enjoyed our lunch as we overlooked the Pacific Ocean!

Great service and great food. the.staff always takes good care of you, the service also is very fast. And beautiful oceanview

Really enjoyed this restaurant - great vibe, lovely views and the fish tacos were delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again the second day.

This restaurant came highly rated and a "must do" while in San Diego. Had reservations (which is needed). Ate lunch on the Ocean view level. The food was "okay" at best. I guess the best word is "bland". The service was also extremely slow (other tables came and went by the time we received our food, so I know it wasn't due to being short-staffed). I don't mind paying more for a meal that is excellent, but was very disappointed. They also added a 4% surcharge for Covid. I feel that this would adversely effect the tip amount and isn't the best way to recoup their losses. (P.S. the hamburger was the best of all our 4 choices - but nothing to write home about)

This was our first visit to George's and we had an amazing dinner! Food was delicious, but most importantly the service was excellent! Gerardo waited on us and we felt like regulars! He was friendly and thoughtful, and even though it was close to closing, he did not rush us at all! I will definitely be going back on our next visit!

Pros Food was delicious, great cocktails Cons Food prices extravagant With top deck closed for renovation, second level was a disappointment 5% surcharge added to bill for no reason was purely obnoxious

A terrace setting with the sound of the seals and sea lions below. A good menu where the burger and quinoa salad were really delicious. Attentive staff and worth a visit.

We had dinner here last night. Although we didn't have a reservation, they were able to seat us after waiting at the bar for an hour or so. Drinks were good bur expensive with a lot of ice, but you're paying for the view, which is gorgeous. The decor colors were a little funky and the music a little too loud. The food was great! I had the steak frites and my husband had a shrimp pasta. The foccacia bread was one of the best I've had.

Great Experience for Southern California. We came for lunch with a friend. We had a medley of dishes which was great as it was hot. The crushed Cucumber was great as always along with the Strawberries and Beets. for lunch we split up but I had the best Medium Rare Burger I have ever had. To be honest the Deserts were a little bit samey but overall the ambience and food quality was superb

Can’t beat the view. Stopped for lunch and had their fish tocos and guacamole. Would recommend both. Staff was friendly. Not the best place if you have difficulty doing stairs.

Popped in per a friend's suggestion after going to the childrens pool and La Jolla cove for seal watching. Sat on the upper terrace in the bar area U seats which gave us a spectacular view! Had drinks and the salmon rillete with smoked roe - delicious!! Definitely worth a visit!!

Awesome place! Amazing views, great service, and the food was fabulous. We cant say enough good things about our experience! Get the fish tacos!!!!

After hearing some great reviews my family went for a nice dinner on the patio. In a word--meh...the food was just average and the service was definitely on the slower side. It was a cooler evening and the heaters on the patio are not that efficient, however, the restaurant was handing out blankets to patrons- so that was quite nice. The view is outstanding....I just wish the food quality matched!

My husband and I had a really wonderful lunch here in the last few days. We were seated by the glass on the Ocean Terrace so had a fantastic view. Both the the food, wine and service were excellent so overall a genuinely excellent experience. Highly recommend!

The upstairs, outside seating area overlooks the cove and the view is fantastic. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. The waiter was also very friendly and efficient. There are not a lot of food choices, but what we ordered tasted great. The best part, however, was the view.

The view of the Cove is entertaining, especially the seals, and in fine weather the terrace is the best way to go. We had a perfect view and the breeze was welcome during the recent heat wave. Dinner was good, but not perfect. This is an expensive restaurant so be sure to question your server to ensure you order the right food for your taste/expectations.

We went based on many recommendations..great atmosphere, food and service. We were unable to get a reservation, but were able to walk in.

Food quality and service were just average - you're here fo rthe view and atmosphere. Sat on top deck and weather was a bit "iffy" - wish we had a better day / evening.

Went for lunch and sat at a front row outdoor seat to the beautiful view. Service was fast and the food was really good. Definitely will go back for dinner. The views from the inside looked just as pleasant.

The dining "event" took too long. 3 hours. We had to leave to get our car before 10pm. Service was late to replenish water or add drinks. I was not able to eat my entre called Heirloom Grain Bowl. It was horrid. My soup was OK. The location has no parking. Valet parking... I had to pick up my car before it closed at 10pm. It's on a roof and there is no view after it gets dark. Best part for me was leaving. Oh, and there is a surcharge.

The view is amazing but we were seated far from it, a request to be seated on an empty table close to the shore was denied since there has a long waitlist for the better-located tables and someone had reserved the specific table. Service is professional, not outstanding. The atmosphere is great, patrons provide life and beauty to the place. Food is just ok, and expensive for what is offered. We had the $42 halibut, the $34 steak, and the $32 salmon. A 4% surcharge is added to the bill to help cover increasing operations and labor costs as stated in the receipt.

Amazing view, delicious, food, and wonderful service. We had our dinner at the restaurant while we watch the sunset over The Ocean. What more could you ask for?

We met for a couple of cocktails and lunch on Saturday. Lovely staff and a beautiful view of the cove. We enjoyed the burger, tuna and chopped salad with chicken - all very nice. So good we are going back next weekend.

Great atmosphere somewhat limited menu. I had the halibut which was delicious. Husband less than impressed with the steak. Caesar salad definitely enough to share, which we did. Service was top notch. Definitely not wowed. Would probably try another restaurant when returning.

We had dinner at George’s last night and a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Dimitri, was absolutely fabulous! We sat on the patio and the evening was lovely. The food was also great. We would definitely go back again.

Very good restaurant on the top roof. Excellent food and gut atmosphere. Although we did not get a seat in front. instaed we sat on the bar and it was great

This is an exceptionally beautiful venue for outdoor dining. We were on the upper deck with the ocean to our West. We enjoyed appetizers, drinks, entrees, and a dessert. Service was very good with only one minor glitch, the food was excellent, the price point is high. Part of the higher cost covers the privilege of fine dining with an amazing view. I would not recommend this restaurant if you have wiggly children. It’s definitely an adult venue but well-behaved children would go well.

Terrace with amazing sea and sunset views! OK food, but nothing exciting - still accompanied by great service. High average price, in pairs you spend easy over 100 (to which add 15 to park)

The view was very nice. The food was poor. The utensils were dirty and there was a strand of fabric in the food which our server dismissed as being a piece of our napkin.

A wonderful alfresco lunch on the Terrace at George’s in La Jolla. The view is always beautiful while listening for barking seals. Abraham, our server, was attentive and professional. All Covid protocols are being followed here. The Cheeseburger and the Lobster Roll were delicious. The sticky Toffee pudding cake was a great dessert! Make sure you make reservations here as it gets very busy! Highly recommend this restaurant if you in in La Jolla for lunch or dinner!

We dined here on our first night in San Diego. We had oceanview seats where we could observe the sunset going down. The view was spectacular and you can see sea lions laying on the rocks. Additionally, the food was amazing and although it was busy, the food came out in the space of 10-20 minutes and the waiters were very friendly. If you are visiting La Jolla or simply live here, you should definitely dine at George’s on the Cove.

seems to be the theme in this area, food quality does not match the setting/view restaurants provide. Food was literally tasteless. service was mediocre at best, hostess almost begging for a tip under the table to seat you at the prime tables, which i normally don't have a problem with but let me offer, i do know how these things work. Many tables open yet they make you wait although you came on time for your reservation. sat at the bar while waiting and stayed there to eat n leave, much better view from the bar seats than most of the tables.

Great food and excellent service. We enjoyed an afternoon with beautiful views. Make reservations ahead of time. The lobster was delicious and so was the ceviche. We tried a delicious chocolate dessert.

Amazing food, view, service. Absolutely loved this place!! Right by the cove and the sea lions there’s no better place to watch them. Reservation was easy. We can’t wait to go back.

Gustavo our waiter was attentive. Delicious mussel appetizer as well as the octopus. Halibut, flat iron steak and Caesar salad delicious. 2 bottles of Zinfandel delicious! Added 5% surcharge for increasing operation and labor cost is B. S. Sad that this is another ridiculous added charge. Hope you compensate your staff BC my usual 20% tip was reduced. Again ridiculous and we are from NYC.

I have had fish tacos in Miami and the islands. These rival them. Everything was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The views are to die for. If you can get a seat by the glass it’s worth it! Follow up by walking down to the park. We saw lots of seals and sea lions basking in the sun. Food is worth the wait!

Went there for lunch , good service , pleasant people and delicious food. Will go airing when I am in the area.

Killer view and stellar service. Great seafood options. Deck with limited shade so bring sunscreen. Plan ahead with seating. Do go!

Not sure what all the hype is about this place other than the view. Our server was very professional but the food was mediocre at best. Both the food and drinks were incredibly over priced ( $26 for an ok cocktail ). Every night in La Jolla we had fabulous dinners - we would NEVER recommend George's to anyone. Maybe 25 yrs ago it was good? Tourist trap sort of institution and more. Waste of time.

The restaurant, views, service (thanks Madison M), and food (lobster rolls) were very good. The price is the big negative, especially when a "5% surcharge" is added to help "cover increasing operations and labor costs". All said, I am very glad I went, but I will try another restaurant next time.

We walked up after our workout. A cheerful young lady said Sure we have room for you and your son. Before we knew it, tasty octopus and a fresh leafy salad were in front of us. Mussels paired great with the focaccia bread. In addition to the view, the staff really make this place. Cheerful, upbeat, willing and efficient but not rushed. Thanks so much for an all round great experience.

Good food, nice view, friendly waitress and waiter. However the reception ladies were extremely un-professional. I saw the good trip advisor review and took a cab here to try to have a meal. I was here a little before 4 (my dinner time due to jet lag). There were two young girls at the reception. When I asked reception if I could get a table, they said not until 4pm and it’s only on first come first serve basis. Ok I get that. So I asked what if I have a drink at their bar and come back at 4 to get a table? They said same. So far all good. So as I was walking 5 steps) away, a customer and the two girls started mocked and joked about me right behind my back, so loudly I could clearly hear the whole conversation. I came back later and told the two girls who worked at the reception that it was not pleasant to hear them talking about me, a customer, loudly. The girls appeared to be nice and wouldn’t give me a chance to talk. They kept saying: well he (the person talked about me with them) was a customer and they didn’t want to be rude to him. However they were engaged in that conversation and giggly the whole time talking about me. After repeatedly telling them that I felt offended that they mocked me, being rude to me while trying to make another customer happy, they simply interrupted me. I did finically went upstairs and when chatting with a manager looked like person, I told him about the incident. He said he would talk to them. I later found a table and had a great meal. Waiter and waitress were very polite and friendly. The whole time no one came to me to apologize for their behavior.

George’s is crushing it during this Covid crisis. The best outdoor seating is strongly in demand, as it’s certainly one of the best views in San Diego County, so a stressed out hostess is easy to explain. However, our experience with the service was second to none. We got exactly what we wanted, when we wanted. But come for the food! At our table of seven, everyone raved about their meals. The octopus and calamari appetizers were exceptional. My pork shoulder entrée was first class as was my nieces pasta with clams and shrimp...very generous portions of both and explosive with flavor, and perfectly cooked. Save room for the desserts! We had four different desserts to share as a table, and I was particularly impressed by the chocolate cake, vanilla cream Brulé and the berry cobbler. All were absolutely fantastic. This is a 10 out of 10 experience, and my family has been coming to George’s for years without incident or anything less than an exceptional experience.

It had been a few years since I our last visit to Georges and the return did not disappoint. We started off with a Cocktail while we looked at the menu. As we were flying out early we chose to chare some plates. We had crushed Cucumber along with Octopus and Halibut. All were superb. We paired this with a glass of their top Cabernet and shared the chocolate desert, along with an espresso. This is a fabulous gem in La Jolla and we will definitely be back

I'll start with the positive...the view overlooking The Cove. And that's where it begins and ends. Service was eh...I'd say poor. Food was average at best and extremely pricey. The tiled lime green wall on the back of the building is dreadful. I would never go back...so many other fantastic choices in the area!

Very average, touristy restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. The food was average and the drinks were not great. Might be a good spot for a drink before going somewhere else.

We went there for lunch, overlooking the La Jolla Cove and Ocean. A beautiful spot and we were lucky to get a table right at the fron row to the Ocean. Food is great, tasty and big portions. The Lobster Roll was to die for. We will be back!

While the view is beautiful and the staff very friendly and attentive....the food is just ok. It is waaay over priced! We dined on Ocean Terrace. My husband had halibut that he said was good. I had the chicken ($30). It was soooo over cooked and dry I almost choked a few times. The “crispy fingerling potatoes” looked like they’d been run over, and were not crispy but soft and tasteless. We order chips and salsa. The chips have some kind of seasoning that has been poured over it, drowning the chip. They were not very good. I tried the “famous “ chicken, broccoli and bean soup. I did not like it. It had a lot of the chip seasoning in it and tasted very Smokey. One thing that was really good was the Strawberry Lemonade I ordered from bar. Was an almost $200 meal and should have been about $50.

Rate this establishment a 5/5. Went for a quick lunch. Had a reservation down in the dining but was able to get a spot at the bar. Irwin was amazing and so very kind. Very helpful and accommodating. Lunch was superb!!

Our 4 visit! Love coming for the ambiance the love of the restaurant, the servers are kind and the food is divine .

Hi Mike , as promised, here is my review. We visited your establishment for 7 or 8 years. Food is ok , service is par . We went for the view. Our last visit was somehow tainted with pomegranate juice all over me. Both of your bartenders were looking at the sky. Wondering how I got covered in red juice!! 2 clowns in a circus! You said you would take care of things. As your bartenders …. A joke.! Nothing happened. Keep the view. Because nothing else worth the money you ask for any drink or meal.

This visit was for a casual lunch. They were able to seat us in the upper terrace at a bar high table even without a reservation. The host was very accommodating and even came back during the meal to see how we were doing. The staff is attentive and friendly. This is typical California fare well presented. There were a wide array of starters and entrees for lunch. The latter were a bit pricey for lunch. The food was very good and what you would totally expect for a casual lunch (fish tacos, burgers, salads, etc.). While the prices were high they seemed reasonable given that this is in downtown La Jolla with an ocean view. Lunch was in the 80's for two with a cocktail each. We have not tried the downstairs formal restaurant for dinner yet.

Lunch with a view. Great menu! The Burrata was delicious and a large portion. The soup was delicious as well. All the staff was nice and they all checked on the tables at different times. Worth a visit.

I came to this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. I even booked the a premium seating table that I paid in advance for. I didn't get to sit at one of the two premium seating tables, instead we sat right by them and had to deal with crowds constantly coming to stand behind us to take pictures witch completely obstructed the view I paid for. The service was mediocre, and one of our appetizers was forgotten. The entree's were incredibly overpriced for what they serve. If the food would have been decent that probably would have saved it, but the spaghetti and clams had no flavor and sauce tasted like it was from a jar, the noodles tasted like cardboard so it was barely eaten. The penne and shrimp has the smallest baby shrimp you would expect to get at a cheap seafood place. None of it was worth what they charge, your paying for an overpriced view. Save your money and go to Eddie V's or Flemming's, at least you will get the type of food and service that your paying for, and the views are just as good! We're locals, and will never go back again.

Went there in November for dinner for significant anniversary. Dining is outdoors, and although provided with some (shared) propane heaters, it was very cold. It was overcase, so the view was limited, and after dark aout 10 minutes after we were seated (much later than our reservation, was non'existent. What was frustrating is that we paid for a view table, and could see nothing. The service was brisk, not solicitous. The food was OK, not spectacular. To be fair, you go to George's for the view. It would be a great place when the weather is warm and the sun is out. Our experience wes, well, Meh.

This restaurant has amazing cliffside views of the Pacific in La Jolla, which is what drew us in. On a beautiful day out on the top deck, it's a surreal atmosphere. That said, we came for the views and really enjoyed the food. Everything we had was well made, fresh, and had a unique flavor twist. Calamari in particular was nice, lightly fried and not oily at all. Cocktails were also unique and well made. The restaurant was obviously short staffed, like every place post-COVID, but the service really was good despite that. Everyone there was hustling to get things done as quickly as they could, and friendly every time they came by the table. With views like that we were in no hurry anyway, but the staff did really make the effort provide us with as good a service experience as they could.

We greatly enjoyed our lunch at George's at the Cove. However, we wished that we had paid the $150 fee to reserve one of the railside tables so we could have had a better view of the ocean. We thought our bill would not be enough, but it wound up being ~$140 for the 3 of us for one appetizer, 3 cocktails, and 3 entrees. We could have added another drink or dessert to reach the $150 minimum charge requirement. In addition to the view, the food and service were excellent. The chips with salsa and guac and the fish tacos were delicious! While not a place for everyday dining, it was a lovely splurge for us during our San Diego vacation.

We had lunch at the top of George’s on a beautiful 75 degree February day, with a view of the cove. Our server, Gustavo, was charming and attentive. The food was excellent: an ahi tuna tostada, and a shrimp and grits with broccoli. It was my 78th birthday, and we were treated to a chocolate and ice cream dessert with a candle. We will be back, despite the interesting parking situation,

View - 10, Food - 1, Service - 10. Two out of three might be good for you but since I think the food component should carry even greater weight this place misses completely. Mediocre food at best and can’t see why, aside from the views, the tables are filled. Crispy shrimp app followed by shrimp fra diavolo and hamburger. I’ve had a lot better at a lower price. Save your money and eat at home.

We stopped for lunch and ate on the rooftop terrace. Sweeping views of the cove along with very friendly service. My entire family loved the food including my picky eater. Great place to linger and enjoy the beauty of La Jolla

George's is all about the view - it has a lovely outdoor deck with a beautiful view of La Jolla cove. The food and the service were average and of course a bit overpriced.

We had a such a delicious meal yesterday, pasta and seafood and sangiovese with a beautiful view and great service from Nicolle that we came back today and again it was awesome! This place is super busy and the service is warm and welcoming and professional. We were delighted that Nicolle was our server again. We had a delicious and relaxed meal. She made us feel so welcome. What a treat!

Great spot in La Jolla!! The food and service were exceptional and great ambiance. It was a beautiful Sunday and the view was amazing.Highly recommend!!

This was the most delicious group dinner we have ever had. The service was also the best. SUPERB all the the way.

We dined at Georges to celebrate my birthday and had an incredible evening. We were able to get a table overlooking the water, which has a spectacular view! The food was outstanding and the service from our waiter Thiago was exceptional!! It will be a night we will remember for a long time to come.

Great getaway or special occasion org breath taking ocean views. Sunset is a must!! Highly recommended for any occasion!!

The desserts were the highlight. But overall the restaurant and the dinner ranked last i our trip through SoCal. It was disappointing to see couples of 2 seated at the four tops along the glass on Level 2. We were offered seating on the first Level, but it was dead and lacked all character. The gnocchi was too large and should’ve been smaller with 8 instead of 4 and pan fried a bit to better pair with the squash. The greens with the pork tenderloin were overly salted to the point we didn’t to eat it. The staff was attentive and deserve better from the food and the general run of the restaurant.

Five of us girlfriends went to George's at the Cove for a lunch on a rainy day. We had an open window view of the beautiful cove, frolicking seas and dolphins. We started off with Bloody Mary's followed by a delicious lunch. The service was a bit slow, but with COVID restrictions we understood, plus we enjoyed the atmosphere and the view, so we really did not mind. The server was also the bartender and he was very attentive and fun. I would definitely go back here with the same group, but also to share it with friends that have not been here.

The black haired bespectacled hostess was outright rude, nasty, and obnoxious. Who goes to any restaurant to be disrespected and belittled. And then she sat us in front of a stucco wall, without a view, while employees bumped into us all night retrieving Drinks from the bar. Horrible experience and never to happen again. All it takes is one nasty hostess to ruin what should have been a relaxing Friday night dinner.

The big view is powerfully important to the experience. Great drinks noisily busy seemingly mostly local Sunset into the pacific is magic

The food was overpriced for what it was. Quality was lacking. You go here for the view not the food. Wait staff were lovely

It’s really for the view. As others mentioned… it’s is expensive, and the food quality has dropped significantly. There are several better options in La Jolla, I would not recommend this restaurant anymore.

I honestly did not think we would get a table. They stop seating at 2:30 to start preparing for dinner service. We could have walked in and sat at the bar or along the wall. But come on, we came for the view and my friend who been before, the best fish taco she has had. There is an upper deck as well with another hostess. They run separately in regards to seating and reservations. It only took 10 minutes, and we were seated. The views were 10/10. The food was 9/10. Our waitress was very dry, 5/10. The hostess, the guy who brung our food out, and the manager were all great 10/10. Yeah, it was that obvious. The smell coming off the water smelled like the zoo, 5/10. It was awful, I honestly thought it was the restaurant at first. Yes, it was a seafood restaurant, but i got a burger. I don't eat that much seafood, so... I know why go to a seafood restaurant for a burger. Anyway... My burger was really good, fries ok, my drink not so much. Note: The womens bathroom was all the way downstairs. I did have to go, decided not to because of that.

Absolutely amazing experience! We had dinner at the restaurant and it was the best dining experience we’ve ever had!The service was fantastic, food was very delicious and the view was just amazing!Everything we had was excellent, the drinks were great as well,I would definitely recommend that restaurant to anyone who wants to have excellent dinner with unbelievable views on the cove and seals, sea lions and birds. It’s a bit pricey but worth every penny.Just make sure to come early or have reservations on the patio, because it fills up pretty quickly.

This was by far one the greatest service I have ever gotten . We travelled from Atlanta to San Diego and I reserved a table ahead of time for my boyfriend’s birthday .There was no wait time, they gave us a great spot , and the service was amazing . It made his bday memorable .. It was a day to remember, I can’t stress enough absolutely outstanding and the view just breathtaking. A day to remember .

Great dinner! We had the Lobster Rockefeller and it was the best lobster we have ever had. A little pricy with appetizer, dinner, and drinks but well worth it. We didn't have a reservation but we left our number at the desk and then walked along main street into a few art galleries and then walked down to the beach to enjoy the sunset and watch the sea lions play in the water while waiting.

The restaurant was okay. The snippy waitress- not so much. The food was served in an attractive way. The view of the water s as d beach was stunning. A really busy place. The waitress was too busy to refill drinks and took a long time to get our payment. She was less than friendly.

The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but I'm rating 5 stars, because of the view that you can get if you get seated by the glass, and you can look over at the bluffs. I saw a couple of people enjoying a glass of wine after their meal and they had a beautiful view. I thought that would be a nice experience. If I were to eat here again, I would want the view, and probably try something else on the menu. I wasn't overly impressed with the food, but there was more that I didn't try. However, I was impressed with the view that we didn't get to sit by. We had the fish tacos and lobster roll. The lobster roll was just delicious and just right to my partner. I had the fish tacos and they were mediocre. I didn't like the colored taco shells. We had starters of calamari, buratta cheese, and chips and salsa. The calamari was good with marinara sauce. We had to ask for that. The buratta cheese was a really good starter. I didn't like the cheese, but I liked the vinegarette on the watermelon and the tomatoes were good. We had leftovers of the chips and salsa and tomatoes, as well as one of the fish tacos and enjoyed them later on in our room. They were good left over. We also ordered the focaccia bread to go and enjoyed it in the room. We ordered iced tea and coke for drinks. There's also a nice shopping spot for women's clothes right below the steps called Mila.

Briefly: This place was highly recommended by a dear friend. Considering my friend choice I had high expectation about this restaurant. I did made reservation online and was requested 300 USD secure down payment for party of two with a 50 USD premium seating on the sea deck with a guarantee that the down payment to be applied to my/our meal. The personnel helping at the table were wonderful! Considering a party of 2 with full 2 Appetizers 2 Entrees and easy drinking (2 cocktails and x1 aperitif at the end) are not enough choices to meet the 300 USD non refundable down payment. The weather was not on our side, temperature dropped unfortunately the table heater on my and vicinity was malfunction plus, light rain started umbrella was too small to cover our table, and were moved to a different seating. On conclusion: Be careful with online reservation and the intended meal, if you are not planning to open a Champagne and do some crazy drinks the 300 will exceed your party of two evening. (make sure you have a party of four) Location: Ideal View: Fantastic Service Personnel: Fantastic Drinks: Great (Cocktails) Food: A lot of question marks probably almost meeting average experience "Sorry" Online reservation down payments are not refundable, is not only 50 for the table is the whole down payment. ( Pay carefully attention to online reservation details) On the positive side I had a good and timely communication with restaurant management.

Had the parmesan fries for an appetizer. Delicious. Mussels, mushroom pasta and linguini were all wonderful. Excellent friendly waitress. Watched the seals at the cove from our table . Life is good

Recently ate dinner at this restaurant. When we made the reservation, I did not understand that the upcharge for "table with the better view" was really a deposit toward minimum price of the meal.. so we didn't pay the upcharge and were seated on top floor at back of the seating area. This was anniversary dinner for us (which had been noted on the reservation), but the overall atmosphere was just not what we were expecting (super loud metal chairs, large parties with lots of kids, etc.). When we mentioned this, the manager did a great job of trying to fix the situation by bringing champagne and checking on us several times. The food was very good and the service was great. Just know that this is not a quiet romantic restaurant (at least not the top level).

The lamb shank was excellent, as was the calamari. The penne w/ shrimp was quite good also. Rather cold outside at night in May though.

Beautifully presented food and cocktails with a killer view of sunsets on the Pacific. Fresh seafood selections. We had the surf and turf and split it! Excellent! I tried the chicken abs broccoli soup , one of their specialties and it was really good! The Caesar salad was excellent also! We loved the cocktails! Excellent margaritas! Service was excellent !

The view from here was just amazing and although I just ate fries due to being picky, my business training partners really enjoyed the food. Our waiter was honestly barely seen as he went to get a refill and didn’t return for 30-45 minutes. The restaurant really wasn’t too busy at that time either.

Confirm what read in the other reviews beautiful view but nothing more than that, very expensive for what offered

We both had the soup (Excellent), but as Europeans were surprised not to be offered bread or bread roll as an accompaniment. I had baked cauliflower with pomegranate, corn, and pesto, and my wife had butternut squash rigatoni with Sage. Both were great. A cool night we were offered blankets, and the heater was appreciated. Service was excellent too.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a colleague who lives in CA. I visited as a solo diner and had a couple of drinks and a great prawn pasta. This restaurant gets very busy and extremely popular due to its great rooftop views over the Pacific. The menu is not extensive but has enough choice for various dietary requirements. It's a nice little spot and reasonably priced.

Amazing view! My husband and I enjoyed great drinks and food on an overcast day - which made it easy for us to spend several hours soaking up the cool breezes too.

Our waiter Ditri was the best as was everything we ate, the spaghetti and clams were out of this world! The view is fantastic.

The restaurant does have a view ! We were seated at the coveted ocean view table. We booked a table a week ahead of time for lunch. I can imagine it’s impossible to get a table during evenings or weekends. We had the Focaccia and also a Beets , Mozzarella salad for appetizer. The bread was disappointing as it was not warm. The salad was the highlight of our meal. Our main course were Fish Tacos and Heirloom Grain Bowl. The fish tacos had flavor but the corn tortillas were not fresh, restaurant like this we expected good and fresh tortillas. The grain bowl was good but lacked some sort of vinaigrette or like aioli for flavor. Go here for the view if you can get a ocean view table( get your jackets as it can get cold ) For the food, it’s not the perfect place … just doable!

We made a reservation 1 week before our planned visit and could only get a 9 PM time. We did mention that we would appreciate a notification if a cancellation occurred. Sure enough, we received a call that day and gladly accepted the earlier time. Upon arrival we were met by 2 very happy hostesses who immediately escorted us to the only vacant table in the establishment. They had all the menus ready for us. Our super star server was Elaine. She was extremely pleasant and efficient. Not once did we have to ask for anything, and she thoroughly explained our menu choices in detail, so we knew what we were getting. The food of course was outstanding. The lamb shank was very tender, and the salmon cooked to perfection, exactly as I had anticipated. The wine list was somewhat eclectic, well organized, with plenty of good and reasonably priced selections. Kudos to the staff, management, as well as the chef.

George’s at the Cove has a beautiful view of the Pacific. We were there at sunset and it was spectacular. Unfortunately, the food and service were subpar. There were eight of us and everyone had something different. The final evaluation from each person on their meal was “just okay”. In addition, we wanted Grey Goose martini’s, but they were out of Grey Goose. We then asked for Belvedere, and they were out. Weird that a popular bar/restaurant like George’s would be out of two premium vodkas. While we realize that they are just broadening their services due to the end of COVID, the effort by the food server was mediocre at best. If you want to see a beautiful sunset, then George’s at the Cove is your spot. If you want good food and drink, try somewhere else.

Put us on the deck. Heaters not working. Gave us blankets. Charged us 5% surcharge for extra cost of labor. Food very average. Sorry, this is not the iconic restaurant it once was. Avoid at all cost.

During a recent 2 night trip to La Jolla I wound up having two lunches and one dinner at George's. Normally, George's has dining on 3 levels: the first floor being the more formal room, the second floor being a bar with a small terrace, and the top floor being an open-air casual restaurant. I ate the two lunches on the top level and was lucky enough to snag a table on the middle level for dinner. Each meal was great: Fish tacos the first lunch, and mussels and fries for the second lunch. The mussels and fries is listed as an appetizer - but it's really a substantial meal. For dinner: I had (and highly recommend) the halibut. George's has some interesting cocktails on their menus - and while the food menus are the same on the top and middle floors - the cocktail selections are not. Service is great. And the view of the water can't be beat.

While the Atmosphere is extremely beautiful. If you are a person of color. I would strongly recommend not going here. I was sitting at the bar having a conversation with an older white gentleman that lived in the area as he was telling me about the area as I was looking to buy a condo in the area. Once he left. The manager of the bar came over and said that I made the bartender uncomfortable and I need to leave. I asked him what I did and all he said in response is I have a wife and kids and just doing my job. So I left. I love this place but as a person of color I would never go back to this place or buy a condo in the area. Unfortunate because I just love the area.

Beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous view of the bay. Our waiter Dimitri was top notch and good looking. My husband and I enjoyed having an anniversary dinner complete with Champagne toast. We shared the delicious mussel appetizer and followed it with flavorful entree’s of salmon plate and the rock crab pasta. The flavorful wine completed the evening.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at George's on their beautiful rooftop terrace! The service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious - especially guacamole, fish tacos and salmon sandwich. The gorgeous view of the ocean and sea lions is hard to beat!! I would highly recommend!

We arrived early so were directed to the bar for drinks and they would let us know when the dining deck was open at 4:00. They did not so after having some very expensive drinks we went to check on our reservation of 4:45 we got a table that was possibly the least desirable table there. Sure enough we watch other tables filling up and being served while we continued to sit there, not served. We stood up and left and told them why. Can't say they seemed to care. Can't rate the food as we had none.

George’s at the cove is our destination when we want a nice cozy restaurant with sunset views of the ocean. The items off the menu are always tasty. Today we had the salmon, lasagna and crust mahi-mahi. Our appetizer was the mussels. Each dish was beyond our expectations. When we arrived we were seated immediately at a perfect table to enjoy the ocean view.. Our server Sean Z. a super server who never let our glasses empty. He was polite, humble and professional. He recommended several dishes to us and we tried a couple of them. Thank You George’s for another amazing night with my wife.

We had a group of 6. The food was very good, my salmon was cooked perfectly. The margaritas we had were great. Service was prompt and polite. The view and surrounding neighborhood was great. We really enjoyed our time there.

George’s at the Cove La Jolla is Great. the food was awesome and the view is great on the water. Great service

I suppose our big mistake was making a reservation at 7pm--there were no views, just dinner on a breezy, chilly Saturday night. We arrived on time and were sat with a view of the service area/kitchen so that wasn't the best. Our server seemed nervous or new or something--she was off her game (pleasant, but something was off). We noticed a lot of the guests were being given gray blankets and despite the heaters and the off-putting gas smell they give, it was difficult to fully enjoy dinner as it grew colder by the minute. The food was good. I loved my burrata served with squash and apples very tasty and also my salmon entree was delicious and perfect! My friend's tuna was not as expected and he was deeply disappointed and could not eat his dinner. We had heard outstanding things from friends who have visited here before. But for us, this was not the memorable dinner we expected.

Awesome ocean view, great service, very good family experience. Lunch Food is good as well, good menu, not too expensive.

Everything was great! From the entrance, through the restaurant, towards the rooftop the ambiance and experience was fantastic. All the dishes and drinks we got were delicious! It was a bonus to see the sea lions serenade us as the sunset.

We were lucky to get a table without a reservation on a Friday and started with appetizers in the bar area while waiting. Great salsa, guacamole and chips. Awesome cocktails. Dinner had fabulous options. We had chicken and a vegetarian bowl. Both excellent. Very beautiful view, great service, overall a winner!

Some fantastic views across the bay towards Torrey Pines, and a frontline table providing a sunset experience. Unfortunately, I found the menu a bit limited and the meal a little forgettable; the octopus probably should have been sent back given that it was, at points, blackened to a crisp.

We dined here on a glorious November afternoon. The view from the Ocean Terrace was great. The food and service was all good as well. My wife got the lobster roll which she thought was great, as was my cheeseburger. Don’t expect to get out of there cheap though, lunch for 3 was $100 with no alcohol. All in all, however, I thought it was worth it.

The view is beautiful. They add friendly service and great food. Prices are reasonable, especially considering all that.

We had cocktails and appetizers while admiring the beautiful view! Our food was delicious and the service was great. 2 flights down and back up for the restroom was a bit much, but worth it for the roof top view of the ocean!

After about 10 years we returned to visit La Jolla and seeing that George’s was open we couldn’t wait to have lunch there. Everything was just as we remembered, the facility, view, friendliness, food and atmosphere! When an eating establishment prevails for that long and maintains its standards, it deserves the loyalty of its existing clientele, and the opportunity to display their abilities to new customers! Try it, you’ll like it!

The view, menu, and great service made our experience at George’s outstanding. Seated rooftop with clear views of the gorgeous sunset made everything seem better! Scallop ceviche was fresh with a hearty kick of heat. Yellowtail was prepared perfectly with in season peppers to accompany it. Restaurant is busy so make reservations and enjoy the experience!

Lunch with a long-time fried from the area. We arrived early for lunch, opens at 11:00, in order to get a table since we did not have a reservation. A very popular restaurant and there was a line waiting to get in. Seated quickly and we did have a great view. I had a Grilled Salmon Sandwich; small piece of salmon, but tasty. The green salad that accompanied had seen better days--lettuce had brown edges, was not fresh. Had a respectable glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. My friend had the Chees Burger and said it was good.

Staff was friendly. Our server was great. So, the people were good. I paid $100 to get a table near the glass for 8. For $100 we were going to get one in the corner near the bar, so we waited for the other corner table. A little tight for 8 people but I understand the space issues. So, keep that in mind. For that "privilege" we had to pay a $700 deposit, so $800 in advance, which I did. We did spend slightly over that amount, so it all worked out. I had the crusted mahi. It was like a glorified fish and chips. Really? I was expecting a nice Mahi steak with slight crusting not a fully friend set of fish lumps. And tortillas? If I wanted street fish tacos, I could have gotten them anywhere for $2.99 each. So, not so good. Others had the chowder with some shrimp and other stuff in it. They did not like it all that well. My wife had the lasagna. OK, but just OK, no meat in it must cheese so way over priced. The view is OK. The building on the west side blocks the sunset so do not count on that. Nice view of the ocean in the daytime and some barking sea lions, but that was about it. I guess they are limited with where they are but do not expect a nice sunset dinner as it is blocked by the buildings in a sort of closed off feeling. So, if you want a seafood dinner on the water, I would probably recommend something in San Diego like the Fish Market or the Brigantine, etc.

We like to eat here a couple of time with our visits to La Valencia in La Jolla. View is amazing as roof top location. Great casual place and also has bar on top for a drink

This was not what we expected and not the George's of old. It had been a few years since our last visit and we were very much looking forward to a repeat of the fine dining past experiences we'd had. First, the good part: our service was excellent - the waitress new here menu and was very pleasant and efficient. The view was good but I mostly faced the mural - if you've been you know "the wall". However, we had what was probably one of the best tables on that level. The food, to be kind, was a disappointment: ingredients missing and not particularly well prepared or plated..

Went here to celebrate my birthday! The food and drinks were really good. The view is amazing and the service was amazing. I do recommend making a reservation as it does get very crowded.

My husband and I had a lunch at George's at the Cove January 29th and were quite disappointed. The hostess was warm and welcoming, our server was very kind and helpful, and I briefly spoke with the bartender who was lovely. All of them were friendly and hospitable and went about their work with smiles...until a couple of elderly women arrived. These women were seated behind my husband and loudly complained to the hostess, then the server, then to the restaurant manager about everything from demanding that the elevator is manned with staff as it's confusing, to too many stairs (in this older facility for which the highlight is the multi-leveled views), that they need to tear down walls and build ramps, and continued to spew their entitled negativity at full volume. All of the staff were kind to them, in spite these women speaking down to them tumultuously. The crabby diners proceeded to continue their vocal complaining throughout the meal and it was as if they sucked the joyful atmosphere out of the air and the staff no longer looked happy as they were now forced to feel defensive. I take issue with people who are ill-mannered and demeaning to workers who are forced to work in a "the customer is always right" environment, so I quietly walked to their table and kept my volume down and my tone in check and asked them if they were aware that they were quite rude to all of the staff and that their vocal grumblings were not only effecting the previously sunny employees, but the rest of us diners' lunches. The woman were taken aback at squawked that I was being rude to them, just as a weasely-looking small man, I later learned was the general manager Sam, came over and scolded me and asked me to sit down. I was neither loud nor did I garner the attention of the other tables (as I was very conscious not to do so). My husband and I finished our very mediocre meal of almost grey seared albacore in a "ginger sesame" dressing that tasted mostly of overly tart citrus juice and none of the namesakes....possibly to cover up a less fresh seafood. My husband's tacos were overly sauced and soggy. Other than the views (which were hampered by an old, worn plastic tarp that wasn't as transparent as you'd desire for a place known for the view) and the kindness of the staff pre-dumped on by those customers, the place reminded me of those has-been steakhouses that used to be "fancy places" and rested on their laurels over the years. As we walked out, it didn't sit well with me the way the GM spoke with me, making me feel criminalized and not the woman behaving boorishly. I asked to speak with him before I left. When he came out, he got much too close to my face as if trying to intimidate me, which he did not, although his breath was foul. I explained to him that his entire staff was so welcoming and happy, until these miserable women came in and he let them be rude to his work family and not defend his own people...as well as to allow these surly ladies at lunch to turn the vibe from peaceful to combative. Okay, maybe I shouldn't have added, as he continued to make me feel like I was the one causing problems here, "What? Do these women come from bazillionaire La Jolla families, so you let them do what they want and you don't protect your own workers and us other diners? Maybe you should bring your balls and your spine with you to work tomorrow." To that, I was told to leave and that I can never return. I have zero problems with that as there was nothing making me want to return and I'm certain there are better places close by with a more updated menu and cooked with skill and passion, and, hopefully, with a GM who respects and cares for his staff. BTW: I got some amazing smiles and silently-mouthed "thank you's" from four staff members who overheard my two interactions with the GM on my way out. I hate leaving poor reviews, and, if you search my other reviews, you'll see almost are are very positive, from around the globe, but I couldn't let this sneak by without making potential future diners aware (and to publicly stand up for the kind staff, even if their own boss won't). I'd recommend trying somewhere else.

Sunday brunch, family reunion. Although it is a very busy venue, there was no rushing, wait staff should be commended, they were wonderful. I am sorry I didn't get their names. Food was wonderful, and I heartily recommend it to everyone. Several members of our party have food allergies and the staff was able to take care of them.

Trully outstanding. All dishes were delicious. Highly recommended are the mussels and short ribs. Merry served us. Very nice and helpful. High compliments to the cheff (Saveed). He even took the time to stop by at our table and chat with us for a few minutes. If you are in this ares, do not miss this place.

The food and atmosphere were excellent. We started with appetizers and loved the guacamole and salsa as well as the fried shrimp with a delicious sauce. I had the Fish Tacos and my friend had the Tuna salad sandwich. Both were so good! We will definitely be back next time we are in La Jolla!

Our extended family, both local & Midwest, have gathered at George’s for years. This year we were extremely disappointed with a new menu, higher prices AND a 4% surcharge on top of it all! All our favorite entrees were no longer on the menu. We felt nickeled & dimed for what we did order. For example: not a single piece of bread or a roll served with our soup or salad. We miss our Caesar salad with generous-size salmon and the yummy fish tacos! The beautiful view is no longer enough to justify the new menu & high prices. We’ll try a new restaurant in town.

Visited the rooftop bar and had the worst cocktails ever! $69 for 3 drinks and pretty straightforward: margarita and mojitos. Mojitos were not even muddled at all - full sprigs of mint and lime wedges sitting on top; tasted awful. Clearly you’re paying for the view which I don’t mind, as long as the cocktails are decent. Total ripoff and will never return.

Make a reservation and you will be treated right. The view from the balcony is totally worth sitting outdoors for and they have heaters available even if it's 74 degrees outside.

Dined here this weekend with my boyfriend, the food was as good as the view! There was a bit of a wait but that is to be expected, there were umbrellas up to shield the patio and a gorgeous view of the ocean. The food and drinks were delicious and will definitely visit again!.

Nice but not what we expected. We were hoping for a fine dining experience & food quality is more “chain” like...

Terrible service by manager. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner. Our wine came after we were finished eating. The waitress told us the manager had to get the bottle. She never offered us a glass of wine on the house during dinner. The manager offered us a desert but didn’t offer us anything off of our bill. Was very disappointed with service. Although it wasn’t the waitress’s fault. She handled it very poorly. We left no tip first time we have ever done that. She brought us the check right after we opened our wine and sent another waiter to take payment of the check. This could have been easily remedied with a couple of glasses of wine. Very bad customer service!!!

The famous soup is no longer delicious , they denied it is changed but it is , not the same old soup . The bar tenders used to make the best martini , now the cocktails are bad . went few times in the last few month , not getting better , what a shame

I was there two weeks ago on Thursday!!! I went there at 3:30pm and tried to make a reservation for 6pm. The hostess said there is no reservation just walk in, its open sitting, well that was a lie already. So we walked back at 5:30pm. I said I would like to sit next to the window. She said that’s occupied and I can wait here or by the bar. She said it can take an hour… Than I kindly ask her to give me a table. As soon as I set down like literally 30 seconds later, I saw that the table next to us paying. So I went back to the hostess and said I would like to switch to the table next to me with a view. She said once we are seated we can not be moved!!! I said come on, we have not even talked to the waiter yet, we literally sit down…. She said no. 2-3min later I saw two guys walked in and she tried to give them a different table, but they guys were arguing that they want the table with a view and she end up give it to them. At the time of paying I commented the waiter what happened and he was very agreeable and he said they should have moved us. Then the manage comes over and said is there a problem? So I shared with him my experience. That’s when the lying started. He said those tables by the window are only for reservation, I said I tried to reserved it and I have been told that there is no reservation at 3:30pm, when I was here. He said yes because they stop taking reservations after 2pm… 🤔 than he said they stop taking reservation because it’s all reserved already because it’s the weekend and today Friday and Saturday they are only give tables with reservation so that’s why I could not get it and people with reservation has to order a bottle of champagne 🍾. 😳 I said first of all today is Thursday not Friday so that’s a lie, second I was told there is no reservation, third the people who took the table just walked in and they had no reservation because the hostes tried to put them somewhere else first and they are not drinking any bottle of champagne 🍾 and in the matter of fact nobody by the glass is drinking a bottle of champagne right now!!!! oh well once you sit down we can’t move you… I said why are you lying to my face??? Then he got more upset and just started to repeat that it’s Friday and bottle of champagne and no reservation after 2pm….. I said to him again it’s Thursday ohh than he checked his phone said ohhhh he misspoken I said yes like with everything else…. You try to insult my intelligent. I was actually pretty calm because the waiter was very understandable, but here you come as a manager and lying to my face, what for? The owner need to decide who is here for whom. Is the manage for the customer or the customer for the manager and for the service? People go to restaurant for the experience, well defiantly I won’t be back. I don’t appreciate to be lied in my face over and over….

The restaurant has a small menu, but wonderful views of the ocean. I actually went on a Wednesday evening with my daughter and her roommate. I wanted to take them out somewhere nice. It wasn't very busy as we were there fairly early. We started out with some appetizers and a drink, and then ordered dinner. My daughter and her roommate both had steak, and I had the yellowfin tuna. I personally felt that the steak was overcooked, but they were both enjoying it so no issues there. Unfortunately, I ended up sending my tuna back because there was a long dark wavy hair in between the tuna steaks. Normally I'm pretty understanding of issues like that, but I also think that a manager should have come by and discussed it with our table, maybe offered an apology. Our waiter simply offered to bring out another tuna steak, which I declined, not really feeling like eating anymore at that point. That was it, end of story. Probably won't go back.

Amazing place very pleasant and great customer service , great atmosphere full of positivity .. excellent view

Beautiful view! It was a little chilly, but staff provided blankets. Mussels and Local Tuna Melt were superb.

My daughter and I had dinner here and sat both at the rooftop bar and then inside for dinner as it was February and a bit chilly out. The best thing this place has going for it is the view from the rooftop bar. The cocktails are dull. The "inside" dining has windows/walls made of roll-up plastic so you can't really see out yet the chill still comes in. Plastic chairs. The service was terrible - I had to ask for salt and pepper and never had the server check on us. Food came out slowly and the place was not busy. The food was mediocre. A very disappointing experience.

I live in San Diego, (Pacific Beach), so I have frequented the restaurants of La Jolla often. Boy do I miss the Crab Catcher! I've dined a few times on the deck at the tables with the view here. It is fantastic, but I have lived in California since 1974 and lived in Malibu overlooking the ocean for a while. Though I appreciate the view, it's not what keeps me coming back. I love the 2nd level so much more. Great views, and a bit more intimate. Food... just delightful! They have a new tomato gazpacho which tastes incredible. The cucumber makes it so refreshing! I had the Summer Garden Salad. It is made with Gem lettuce which is so flavorful and keeps its structure. Unique flavors throughout made it so interesting. I never thought of adding sprigs of dill to a salad! Perfectly dressed, the dressing did not overpower the fresh tastes of the salad. This is now my favorite salad in San Diego, The Fishery being second. Love that we weren't rushed at all, and the fresh, not overly seasoned food. As a local... this is one of my favs!

We enjoyed lunch upstairs and had a spectacular view of the cove and wildlife below with seals, pelicans and other birds. The service was excellent and we enjoyed George’s soup, garlic bread and creme brûlée. Very enjoyable experience.

Great food. wonderful location, and amazing service. This is one of our favorite San Diego places. We highly recommend!

We had the mussels and Jewel salad for lunch on the Ocean Terrance. The service was great, the food wonderful. While a bit pricey not bad for California. We will defiantly eat here again if we have to opportunity.

Food was good. Service was great. View is amazing. Downside is you can smell I assume the sea lions. Which kind of stink. But overall the food was good. It is a neat place. Well worth a visit

Such a san diego place. Rooftop dining is actually affordable and a (relative) bargain. Take your visitors here.

Georges is one of my favorite places ANYWHERE! It is more affordable and just as good for lunch. Today we sat on the patio after having a glass of wine and a mock tail at the bar for lunch we had fish tacos, which were grilled with lots of garnishes and a side of chips and salsa. The tacos were wonderful. I had the seared tuna which came on a bed of soy soba noodles with fresh vegetables, almost like a salad. It was really delicious and light yet filling. The atmosphere of being able to sit and eat and look at the ocean and the coast is just amazing ambience. Our server, Maddie, and hostess America were wonderful. Can’t wait for my next visit back.

Everything was perfect, from the waitstaff to the view to the food. couldn’t have found a better place for lunch! Prices were also quite reasonable.

We ordered the lobster roll sandwiches, that were delicious. We had a lovely ocean view protected from the wind and sun. It was a lovely lunch!

Great view. We had the cheeseburger and lobster roll. Food was good. We really like our chocolate lava cake dessert. Enjoyable restaurant.

Delicious. Had mussels, rock fish tacos, cream brulee. Mussels has fresh sour dough bread, great for dipping in the coconut green curry mussel sauce. Rock fish tacos with all fresh ingredients. I've never had rock fish. I am from coastal Alabama. This fish has the same texture as one of my favorite fish, scamp grouper. Cream brulee was fresh out of the oven with a yummy homemade fresh almond cookie. Great view. We were right above La Jolla Cove. We could hear and see the sea lions and all the snorkelers. Met Steve, the local sea gull who was hanging out on the rooftop begging for foods. Great experience for lunch. Would definitely go again.

I enjoyed the lunch plus the amazing view i do recommend it if you like an ocean view as much as i do

We went to George’s for celebration after reserving a prime table at the open terrace certainly for the view. Just before our dinner we read the recent reviews and were quite disappointed. And, to our surprise and satisfaction, virtually all food we had for our party of 4 was excellent as was the service we received from Gustavo and Scott. Four appetizers (tuna crudo, shrimp salad, crab-stuffed squash, and mussels) were inventive, flavorful, fresh, and tasty. Greens that came with the starters were definitely from top quality local organic green growers. Entrees (salmon, duck confit, seafood stew, and steak) were also great. I especially liked the prime flat iron steak, prepared to perfection. Our wine selection (Hourglass) was perfect. The service was very fast (but not pressing for turnover), attentive, precise, and caring. I reviewed Le Bernardin and Daniel in Manhattan before.

The food wasn't great like ocean front restaurant I was expecting. It was normal. View was of course stunning to diminishing returns as it darked out completely within 10 mins and was dark with new more views . Appetizers were OK as well.

The food was overpriced and underwhelming - we went for lunch and all agreed that we must be paying for the view. The fish tacos were BLAND. No one enjoyed their meal except my sister who ordered the mussels - so I guess if you like mussels this is the place for you!

The food was just Ok! Really nothing special at all. At the end of the meal, when the bill came they added a 5 % surcharge to our bill because of their salary issues!

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner on the bottom floor (California Modern) followed by a welcome cocktail reception on Level 2 and could not have asked for a more amazing space! Kristine Fogarty, Director of Special Events & Guest Services, was phenomenal to work with throughout the entire process and accommodated us every step of the way- even going so far as to help us create custom menus and name place cards to add a special touch to the evening. We are forever grateful to the George's staff & Kristine for all they did to kick off our special weekend and cannot wait to come back for years to come!

We just happened to find this gem while driving back from the Hotel del Coronado. We were seated on the back patio which had a glass wall and a fantastic view of the Cove. The drinks-Margaritas, we’re excellent and the food was excellent as well. Our waiter was very attentive and we did not feel rushed as we enjoyed the view.
Very disappointing… Horrible service
Everybody talks about this place. A stellar reputation. Something really to look forward to. But then… Severe disappointment. We were out in the patio and it was very cold. We asked for a heat lamp to be moved and we were abruptly turned down. And they were told that blankets cost four dollars each. So we asked for a table indoors and we managed to get a table there after some waiting. The service was better there. Our server was much nicer. The meal itself was not great. All in all a very disappointing experience. Service is one of the keys in any restaurant experience. And here the way we were treated was very poor.
