Delicious Mouthwatering Greek Food

By RobotFamilyAdelaide |

We're glad we took up our Hotel's recommendation and had dinner at Georgia's Greek Cuisine. The food was delicious, the servings were huge and the staff were very accommodating with our fussy 8 year old eater. We didn't need to wait to be seated (a rarity on our US trip) and the food arrived promptly. We left feeling envious of the locals who have the opportunity to eat here on a regular basis. We will definitely eat here again the next time we're in San Diego.

Great Greek Restaurant

By Tania Apfel |

If you're looking for a nice quite restaurant with an extensive Mediterranean menu, Georgia's Greek Cuisine is your place. Last night my husband and I gave up on overcrowded and noisy restaurants in San Diego's Old Town and found this gem within just a mile from that tourist trap, where we found a most friendly and accommodating staff and a nice atmosphere with a low-volume background soundtrack. We ordered beef and chicken kebabs with rice and vegetables. Our dinner, which also included a nice salad and pita bread, arrived shortly and it was juicy, delicious and abundant--good-sized portions for the price. We were glad to discover this place off the beaten pass and will definitely recommend it to our family and friends.

Authentic Greek Cuisine!

By Momofthree006 |

Let me preface this by saying that I grew up in Greece so my standards for Greek food are very high. This place is as close to authentic homemade Greek food as you can get when eating out. The service was great, the owner came and greeted us personally, they were very accommodating with out gluten free requests and our plates were wiped clean when we were done! Don't even think about it, just go you won't regret it!

Really good Greek food in SD

By LTRaider |

Our family really likes going out for Greek food. We found a good choice when visiting San Diego. The service was really good and the food was as good as we have ever had.

Just OK

By LilyCatsMom |

Maybe we caught them on an "off" night? The service was courteous and our kids liked their gyros, but my entree (vegetarian combo platter - hummus, falafel, and spanakopita) and hubby's (gyros platter) were okay but IMO not as good as we'd have hoped for $16 entrees. Also there was a lot of road noise in the area where we were seated (sort of an enclosed patio area facing Rosecrans St.,) and it was a little awkward to have to go through part of the kitchen to use the restroom - ok these aren't huge drawbacks and if I were reviewing an inexpensive place like the L & L Hawaaiian BBQ next door I wouldn't even mention details like that, but for this restaurant's price range it seems like something other travelers should be aware of.

Hidden gem

By Melissa B |

We went to eat someplace else, and they were overbooked/understaffed. Had seen this on our way by and went to it. Amazing! We ordered dolmades, lamb shank, a lovely wine and falafel--all were excellent. Got to meet both the owners and share some personal time with Georgia--strong survival woman and her husband is so sweet! Had to take home leftovers, and they excellent the next day! Highly recommend this place--they have a patio, but we failed to ask if they were dog friendly, as we had left our dogs at the hotel.

Lunch

Wonderful Greek restaurant! I usually enjoy the gyro plate or sandwich, but when they have the lamb burger, I always get it!

Loved it!

By Diane S |

Just happened to be passing this restaurant around dinner time. No Greek restaurants near where I live, so I was happy. The moussaka was as good as any I've had in Greece. My friend also enjoyed his gyro plate. Dinner was about $16 each and included soup or salad; my dinner included potatoes and vegetables. Very good pita bread, too. I'll will definitely return when back in San Diego.

Georgia's Greek Cuisine is delicious!

By ceedob |

This is located in a strip mall. The owners are from Greece. They obviously take lots of care in making their food. The Saganaki appetizer is the best I've ever eaten. Lamb chops were delicious! Great Gyro sandwich. Everything was served with obvious care. Great dining experience. The porch area is nicely decorated and homey. Definitely worth a visit if looking for Greek food in San Diego.

Opa!

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Holy Moley but this is GREAT! We needed dinner before a show at Pechanga Arena and the area is a wasteland of fast food and chains! Found this on a google map search and we got there early (just before 5) because we correctly expected it would fill up. Glad we did arrive early, got a nice "outside" table (it's a fully enclosed former patio) and the one server, who had to handle all 15 or so tables, was REALLY good even with the crowd. Georgia herself was helping out, too. We were in time for Happy Hour so got the Falafel appetizer ($7 in Happy Hour), she had the Salmon Salad (BIG piece of salmon) and I had the gyro sandwich plus a small Greek salad. Orders come with very fresh, warm and delicious pita basket, and the food was terrific. We were out just after 6 and our table was swooped into by a waiting party. So if you are going on a night with a big event at the arena, GO EARLY!!

FAST service, great food

By Dana C |

The staff at Georgia's Greek Cuisine is extremely fast and attentive. I called ahead, and told them I would be dining with a large group in a narrow time window. They took our orders and had food on the table incredibly quickly. I've sampled about half of their lunch menu, and recommend the Steak Kabobs, though you can't go wrong with the special. If you order the chicken for lunch, be prepared to get a half-chicken. Even if you're not a lunchtime dessert eater, be sure to order the Baclava, but watch out--while delicious it's loaded with cinnamon. Can't wait to go back!

Comfortable atmosphere and great food

By Jardhead1988 |

Took the whole family on a dinner visit. Gyro platter was very good. Greek salad was below average, not very Greek like. Service was very good, family owned and operated. Well priced and in a great area. Would def recommend this for a family visit. Outdoor seating available.

Gyros are good.

By Tom Wilson |

I went here to have Mousaka but didn’t want to pay $17 so I ordered the Gyro special for $11; which included fries and a drink. My wife opted for a Greek salad for an additional $1. The gyros were delicious and the fries were plentiful. My wife’s salad had too much lettuce for a Greek salad; only two pieces of tomato and one piece of cucumber. A drink was also included, making this a great meal for a great price.

Good greek food

By RWKOntario |

This restaurant, in a modest neighbourhood, provided just what we were looking for: good Greek food! The appetizers, soup, and lamb chops were excellent, the house wines satisfying and service friendly and attentive. Good value for the money!

OK Greek Food.

By Wildwoodatheart |

We are huge fans of Greek cuisine, so we were excited that Georgia's was nearby to where we were staying in San Diego. We found this little place in a strip mall amongst the big box stores. It is homey when you walk in. It's obvious it is family run, which is a good thing. We sat in the "garden", which wasn't really a garden. We tried the lemon chicken soup. It was a bit disappointing. There was not much lemon flavor, and it tasted salty to me. We also had the cheese appetizer, which was tasty. However our waiter lacked enthusiasm when he lit it on fire. Most greek restaurants do a bit of show and yell "opa!". It makes the experience more fun. I had the moussaka. It was ok, but lacked a lot of the flavors I'm used to in greek cooking. My family tried the spanikopita and a chicken dish. Both were ok, but again lacked those flavors. I had some baklava for dessert, and it was soggy. I like a nice crispy pastry with all the gooey flavor. This was a miss. I'm sure these are family recipes, and they are fine. But when you dine out, you want something special. This was not special. Oh well.

Best Greek Restaurant in San Diego

By Marsha O |

We love to visit this restaurant. The greetings as you walk in, the comfy décor, the white table cloths, all make you feel good. The back ground music is appropriate. The menu has a wide selection of specials and usual Greek cuisine. We love to experiment as everything is good. Don't forget to leave a little room for dessert. The outside patio is very nice and protected from weather elements. A great stop for lunch or dinner.

very disappointed

By garyvt2015 |

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at Georgia's our first time there, so we decided to come back for dinner a few weeks later. We stood for five minutes before being acknowledged or seated. We sat in the outdoor patio and were told that the heater was out of order, but a man came and took the heater and lit it for a larger dinner party. It was in the fifties outside. My wife ordered spanakopita, which looked like a fried burrito when it arrived. it apparently had been microwaved, as she could not cut through the crust with a knife. I had the beef kabob, which had 5 small pieces of beef, of which four were cooked to the point of being shoe leather. The "seasonal fresh vegetables" consisted of watery canned green beans laced with a mix of frozen peas, carrots, and lima beans. The rice was very watery and tastless. We were astounded at how the food could be so good one time and so atrocious the next. Overall it was a gigantic waste of nearly $50 and a huge disappointment.

It's all Greek!!

By CalforniaFishingBum |

This is overall a great Greek Restaurant and just a really good restaurant in an unassuming mall strip. Small, relaxed, with wonderful service and beautiful food. Have the Flaming cheese lite on fire at your table. A great place for vegetarians (me) and meat eaters (my husband) alike

We'd never had Greek food, and this was a great experience. We ordered the Chef Special $34 for 2, which was a ton of food, so we took a lot to the motel for next day which made the cost VERY reasonable. They don't want the coupon to be used for this platter but were gracious and allowed it this time. Pull in at the sign and park in back.

Nice gem just outside of Old Town

By BJBrew |

I was here for a trade show for a couple of days and was looking for a place to eat a little before 9P. I was driving around and saw this. Figured I would try it. So glad I did. I got something to go, the pita sandwich. It's stuffed full of shawarma, onion, and tomatoes. Filled me up and tasted great. Furthermore, the restaurant is spacious, quiet, with both inside and outside dining options. The staff was friendly with me and even got me a cup of iced water while I was waiting. I liked it so much, I came back the next night and did it again! This time I talked with the owner while I waited. I said, "you look like you're the owner". He said, with a humble and slight smile, "I just pay the bills." This is a family run place in the best sense of the word.

Great food and good service. Would highly recommend! Casual nice atmosphere with I closed patio seating.

Solid Greek food

By John B |

Had the chicken kabob which was very good. The food here is well executed but straightforward. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Free parking just outside the door. Casual but nice atmosphere with white linen tablecloths

Great food friendly service

By Sherie M |

Georgia was excellent and the waiters and cooks wear masks while making food and taking your orders. My husband and I loved their Greek food. We enjoyed garden like atmosphere on the patio. Georgia is so kind she makes you feel like you're eating food from her home kitchen. The pita bread was fresh and everything was pleasant. Now we have a favorite Greek restaurant in San Diego.

Excellent Food and Wonderful Service!

By Maria P |

I am in San Diego for a visit and went to Georgia's Greek Quisine with my nephew last evening. We were so happy with our choice! The food was excellent- we had a sampler platter that gave us a sampling of spinich and cheese pies, vegetables, hummus, feta, stuffed grape leaves, and more! I had a chicken kabob that was cooked perfectly and my nephew had the moussaka, which was out of this world. Our server was excellent and the two other people working in the restaurant were friendly and welcoming. This will be a new favorite for my nephew, who lives in Point Loma, and I will definitely be back on my next visit!

LUNCH

All good, always, the entire menu is cuisine, the soups are superlative, the service is impeccable, the hostess is a treat

Very Happy, Good Food - GREAT Service. Would come back again.

By Shane S |

So, we were planning to eat at Yummy Buffet, but it looked kind of nasty, so we walked over and decided to check out Georgia's. We arrived around 7pm and the place was empty, we were the only customers. Later a few showed, but on Monday night it was very slow. Wonderful server from Argentina (female) was helpful and recommended a few things. We went with her suggestions and we were impressed. The friend cheese appetizer was out of this world! The pita bread was fresh and tasty too. The pita plate was delicious, no complaints. She recommended a bottle of Greek red wine for us that was LESS than the one we were asking about. She then helped us get a cab back to our hotel. Great experience!

Overall pretty good.

By SinginSuzi |

What there is a single diner. Having lived in Greece, I was super excited to try this restaurant. The flaming cheese was very good as well as the Chicken rice soup. Always one of my favorites. The gyro plate was also very well done and delicious. What wasn’t very good was the service. Very nice young lady helped me but I waited a long time before she approached the table initially and while the food came out timely I had to ask for more water and finally got so tired of waiting for my check I got up and walked to the counter to pay. Not sure it was entirely her fault. She was super friendly however she was working both the front counter and the four or five tables that had been seated. Maybe they just need more staff. Yes the food wasn’t as good as it was this would be a three rating.

Charming spot for classic Greek cuisine

By C H |

My family and I had this gem of a restaurant on our list for some time now, and finally went there to meet up with some longtime friends. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened for lunch, and were welcomed warmly by at least half the staff, with the aroma of the food being prepared wafting out from kitchen. Our friends couldn't make it at the last minute, but we more than made up for it, ordering the lentil soup, moussaka, chicken kebab, and--on our server's recommendation--the galaktoboureko (custard pie) for dessert. The lentil soup was a solid portion for an appetizer, warm on a chilly grey foggy day, and chock full of lentils. The entrees were good-sized--the moussaka was a big chunk though only about one skewer's worth of chicken (albeit very tender and well-seasoned)--along with the requisite sides of Greek salad, rice, and pita. Lots and lots of pita. I typically don't care for custard, but this was very well prepared with a sweet flavor that worked well as a follow up to the salty main course. Our waiter was both attentive and unobtrusive (we didn't even notice him dropping off the check), having a good sense of when to replenish our hot water for tea, and the owner (Georgia, herself!) chatted with us for a little bit. The ambiance was pleasant and intimate, well-lit and spacious with cloth tablecloths and napkins, and charmingly decorated with statuary, prints, and needlepoint. This is clearly a popular and beloved spot, and we saw people trickling in until the restaurant was full by 12pm, but not overly loud; we could still hear the instrumental Greek music throughout our meal. Some folks came into pick up meals for the entire family or large gathering, and we could tell many of the other diners were repeat customers and knew the menu by heart. We plan on coming back ourselves in a couple of months to try the stuffed eggplant we were promised as part of the spring/summer menu! Definitely the top Greek place we've found so far in the County.

Yummy

By Collin D |

We arrived on a weeknight during the winter holidays, and were seated right away despite being a nearly full restaurant. Our poor waitress must have been the only one working tables that night as she frantically dashed around the entire time, yet we were very well taken care of. Food was very good, the meal started with some of the best pita bread I've had. I ordered the greek 1/2 chicken and my wife had a vegetarian sampler plate with spanakopita and falafel. Plenty of authentic greek wines to complete the meal. The only food disappointment were the "seasonal vegetables" that appeared to be canned beans, however they were well seasoned in greek style so they weren't bad, just not as fresh as the rest of the meal.

The real deal

By JeremyR28 |

I have been searching for a good Greek restaurant for a long time. I finally found it here. The food and service was wonderful. It was so good I had it twice in one day before I left San Diego. I will definitely be back next time. Thanks.

Food OK...Service =terrible

By Vanessa M |

The food was not great at all. I have been to Greece and can say it is not authentic. Without forgetting to mention the service was awful.

Loved it !

By arizona-mark |

I had the Gyro plate, which is my gold standard - and i just LOVED it ! the place looks great and the service looks great (i had the take-out). this place will become a new San Diego favorite.

Delicious

We were searching for a satisfying meal, after a day at the beach, and drove by this restaurant located in a small plaza. The atmosphere is cozy and the waitress was very friendly. Each of our meals was savory, and the portion sizes were abundant. If you like Greek food, you definitely will enjoy this authentic restaurant.

Fast & Friendly

Fast and friendly wait staff! The owner even made the rounds to check on patrons. Enjoyed the Hellenic Beer (Mythos). Look forward to bringing my family next time 😃

Fabulous Greek Food

By Ragazza14 |

I stopped for lunch with my daughter and her little ones during a visit. The food here is just terrific. We began our meal with a hummus appetizer. It was served with warm, toasted pita and was the best I have ever had. My Gyro sandwich was also great with a yummy tzadiki sauce. I was sorry I had no room to try their desserts...next time!

Perhaps my best Greek meal ever

By Mary C |

We chose this place just because of location; knowing nothing about it. But it was fabulous. If we had another day in San Diego we would have gone again. The staff was extremely friendly; and kind to our two small children. We got large two combination type dinners and they were delicious. We had a vast variety of foods to try; and they were large servings. It was nicely seasoned and we were able to try a few new items. We took home leftovers and ate them at picnics the next day. Our small children were not as impressed; but they still found items to eat. Loved it!

Nice local place with good food

By Alan B |

We came here on the recommendation of friends who are locals. The staff is very friendly. I had chicken kebabs, which were tasty and came with roasted vegetables, rice and greens beans. My wife had gyro meat on a Greek salad, which she enjoyed as well. It’s unassuming location in a strip mall belies the good experience you’ll have when you come here.

LOVE IS PLACE

By janice h |

The first time my daughter and I went to Georgia's, the owner herself greeted us like long-lost relatives. The food is terrific. The service is impeccable, very attentive, but not hovering. Every time we go, we enjoy it very much. You can also order a to-go meal. This is my favorite place to eat. We always feel welcome at Georgia's.

Fast service, friendly staff, and real Greek food.

By HTownMelBell |

Stated simply, if you want some delicious authentic Greek food, with fast and friendly service this is the place to go in San Diego. I have been to Greece, and eaten at many Greek restaurants around the world. This is just as good as some of the best. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful, and seem to be mixed with love. The best part, the service is speedy. If your short on time no worries, this place will serve you quickly. However, if you want a nice slow paced meal you can do this as well. The outdoor patio is very cute and covered so your exposed to the outside elements. My favorite part was of course the gyros, souvlaki, and hummus. You can't go wrong with these three. Plus, the prices are pretty good for the area. Again, if you want a friendly place to have an authentic meal stop on by. I think you will be glad you did.

Lovely

By John O |

Went this year, having visited last year. The food was lovely, and the owner is a delight. The food is authentic, and the atmosphere very relaxed. We went for lunch, but would like to go back for a long, relaxed evening meal next time.

Patio lunch was great

By Double "Ollie" Winner |

There's a "patio" fully enclosed but feels like outdoors and an indoor more formal dining area. Service was very good, prompt and efficient. Food was fresh and delicious.

Excellent!

Love Greek food and this was the best! Large portions even for a lunch combo and the hummus is perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the San Diego area. Great customer service!!

Real Greek Cuisine

By Falcone Family |

Georgia’s Greek Cuisine is a down to earth and truly old Mediterranean style restaurant with amazing dishes. If you’re looking for the ‘just like home’ feel then this is the restaurant for you. The restroom is through the kitchen, just like the old days. It just made my day to walk through all the cooks and dishes like so many European places I’ve been to in the past. It’s not for everyone, especially people not used to the old country ways. The owners are working hard with their employees, and have their little table on the side for their Greek coffee breaks. Our waitress was Anna and she was so attentive; this was one of the very few restaurants that don’t throw the check at you on your last bite, which is true Mediterranean style, the importance of enjoying your meal with family and friends. The Fried Squid as an appetizer was the best I’ve had in a very long time without traveling out of the country for dinner. For the main meal, I had the Spanakopita in its true Greek flavor. The Tzatziki, or better known as cucumber yogurt is the best yet in SD. It was my first visit to Georgia’s Greek Cuisine and they’ve been there since 1977, but it definitely won’t be my last! I wonder if they’ll let me buy their Tzatziki by the gallon? Soooooo good! It’s in a strip mall with plenty of parking and if you’ll send a photo through Yelp via check in, you’ll get a 10 % off coupon to use immediately or on your next visit. Enjoy!

Home away from home and the food like Mom’s food!

By Ilya D |

While navigating for the nearby Olive Garden Restaurant for dinner we saw this restaurant and decided to stop and check it out. Glad we did! The Greek culture and food is very close to our Gagauz Turkish food and culture, so we were instantly like home. It was early dinner time and Georgia herself prepared our food and talked to us, too. The food is so-o-o good, just delicious! It is all prepared and cooked right in front of you by a friendliest owner-cook I have ever met. Georgia and her husband Dionysiy came from Greek in 1970-s and spent their whole life in that restaurant, preserving the Greek traditions and authentic recipes. If you know the Greek food, you know what to order! If it is “all Greek” to you - ask Georgia and she will tell you what you might like or just order the Opa combination plate. Georgia’s chicken soup was very yummy, too. The Greek salad was very fresh and the Baklava completed our fine dinner. The portions were very generous and the atmosphere was great! It’s like coming to visit Mom’s house!

I really liked the food at Georgia's and am sorry I haven't been eating there before now!!

By maringfro |

I went to Georgia's to taste several of her dishes because I want to cater a party with food from there. Georgia customized a plate of food for me with moussaka, pastitsio, dolmades, spanakopita, some chicken and beef and tzatziki sauce and pita. It was yummy! It was really difficult to decide what to order for my party. If I had an unlimited budget I would have ordered it all. The restaurant is actually small and doesn't have much atmosphere but I would take food over atmosphere any time. There is a covered outdoor patio which is a bit more pleasant than the indoor part of the restaurant. Georgia herself is charming and aims to please. I will go back.

Delicious Light Dinner

By Tallkid |

Delicious Light Dinner -arrived from East coast and visit to Can't kill Monument Park. Found this great Greek gem for a light dinner. Husband had a Gyro Salad and I had a Salmon Salad. Both were very fresh salads with feta and Greek dressing. The list bread were fresh made and warm when delivered to our table. Choice of 2. homemade dressings delivered to our table for our salads. What a home-like experience. My only comment is that my salmon was a bit dry possibly because it was thinly cut. Overall, I world highly recommend a visit for authentic Greek food.

God food!

By Linda M |

Nice patio atmosphere, excellent service and very good food. Gyros and moussKa we’re both great. Waitress was very accommodating.

Not good greek food

By vbrother |

Service was efficient and courteous. We were the only customers for 15 minutes. It was not busy the night we were there. Unlike other reviewers we found the food very disappointing. We started off with saganaki. It was flamed at the table but it was a very thin slab of cheese. Dinners include either a soup or salad. I had the lemon and chicken soup. It was okay, nothing special. My husband had the greek salad that was mostly iceberg lettuce. My husband had the half chicken and I had the lamb chops. My husbands chicken was very dry. I had requested my lamb chops medium rare. I received 4 very small and thin lamb chops that were well done. I've never seen lamb chops so thin. I don't think they were even 1/2" thick. The entrees included potatoes (not very interesting) and vegetables that were seriously overcooked. The green beans were almost an olive green color. The lamb chops were $24.00 - seriously overpriced for the quality and quantity offered. I had to use the restroom and you have to walk through the kitchen to use the facilities. We went elsewhere for dessert as we did not feel desserts would be any better than what we'd already had.

Excellent Greek Cuisine

By KatB92020 |

This is my go-to place (the only place) for the best gyros in San Diego. Original owner, cute place, try it. You’ll love it!

So good!!

By Shannon O |

Some of the best Greek food I've had. Reasonably priced, large portions, everything was seasoned well and full of flavor. I had the sampler appetizer, my husband had the beef kebab. Pita bread was fresh and hot too. We sat "outside" in a patio area with a garden like feel which, although it borders a major thoroughfare, was insulated from traffic noise. The parking lot was small, but we were there mid-afternoon so we had no trouble parking. We were both very pleased with the overall experience.

It wasn’t Greek to me.

By 450DonL450 |

Brief stay in San Diego so stopped at Georgia’s for some good Greek. Prepare yourself...this is not a good ending. Greek chicken $17 over cooked and tasteless. It was almost like the chef grabbed a chicken from the local meal to go market for $6 and sold it for $34. It was like the market chickens cooked so long the meal falls off the bones but not in a tasteful manner. Even the Diet Coke was problematic. When I shared with the waitress, not her fault she replied. “Choose the kabob next time.” How about fair warning? Fair warning...find a different place to eat.

Wonderful food, extremely friendly service

By finewine57 |

Although I typically use Tripadvisor to determine where I will eat while I'm on business trips, I was out doing some shopping and decided to drop in on this little store-front restaurant located in a strip mall. I hadn't had Greek food in a long time, and something about the place drew me in...and boy, was I glad! Upon entering I was greeted with several "hello's" and was ushered to a nice table. I noticed immediately that the place was full of couples (and then it donned on me that it was Valentine's day). In my opinion, the big downer associated with business travel, is having to eat by myself. I love a good conversation and good company while enjoying my meal. Somehow, the staff at this restaurant fulfilled that need. My server was very attentive and frequently conversed with me throughout the meal. This is not a large restaurant, and so it gave it a family feel. The layout of the restaurant allows you to view the grill area. The cooks were friendly and happily animated. The best way to describe this place is that it is full of positive energy. Although I am a lover of excellently prepared food, I hold good service a bit higher than the food quality. In this case, I got the both of best worlds---delicious food, generous portions, and a feeling that I was a very special customer.

reminiscent of a Greek kitchen

By sacrebleu62 |

The best meals we've had in Greece start with a visit to the kitchen to choose the dinner. Well, although that doesn't happen at Georgia's, a trip to the restroom leads through the kitchen, where you see an impressive and delicious layout of foods under preparation. We had the dolmathes dinner and the Greek chicken, both excellent. I love the feel of this place, too.

Love this place

By janice h |

This is my go-to place, whether I want a full meal, or a take-out gyros. The owner, Georgia, is friendly and treat me like a family.

One of the most delicious lunches ever!

By caltravelgal |

Recommended by Old Town Inn, this place does not disappoint. I had a generous lunch combo of vegetarian items: rice, dolmades, mousaka, pita, tzatziki, salad. My friend was equally pleased with her choices. We barely had any leftovers; it was so good!

Excellent Food, Great Service

By aec11 |

My wife and I thought we might be taking a chance because of the last review on TripAdvisor (February 19), but decided to try Georgia's anyway, and ended up enjoying one of the best Greek meals in years. The owner, Georgia, greeted us warmly and even offered us two glasses of wine to taste to help us decide which one we wanted to order with our meal. All of the dishes were excellent, we had the loukanika (sausage) appetizer that was out of this world, and the opa! combination plate that was delicious as well. The wine, service, and price/value were terrific, we'll be back! Thanks, Georgia.

Delicious Greek food !

Had a wonderful meal - I had my favorite Greek food - spanakopita and tzatziki and it was wonderful. My companion had the Avgolemono (Greek Lemon Chicken Soup) with lamb chops and loved her meal, too. The staff was very friendly and service was great.

Every time I'm in San Diego, I eat here. Sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. The food is great, the owners and staff are friendly and the prices are very fair!

Great family run restaurant

By Reed |

In a world where even Greek cuisine has been taken over by chains, it’s great to have a family owned small business that nails the food and service. We really enjoyed our lunch at Georgia’s while visiting recently. Food was excellent and service was great and very personal. Food came out quickly and the prices were OK. The restaurant feels slightly dated on the inside, but it works! Just thinking about our lunch has got me hungry again!

Love this place

The food is terrific. Always treated like long-lost relatives. The owner always greets us with a smile and a hug. When my daughter and I have use of a car, we always make a trip to Georgia's for lunch.

Casual Greek Cuisine

We are a family of three with a toddler and we ate here for lunch. The atmosphere was nice, and we sat on the covered patio for my son to move around a bit. The souvlaki was good. I found the chicken skewers a bit dry, but there was plenty of tzasiki for dip. The dolmades were great! Overall, it is a decent casual restaurant.

I eat here every time I am in San Diego. The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly. I am often alone and feel right at home here!

HOME STYLE COOKING

Georgia is often on the premises and her commitment to excellence is one thing that makes her place special. I've had several lunches here and have always had good food. The prices are modest and the decor nice but not pretentious. There is also a nice selection of wines and beer to choose from. If you prefer there is also an enclosed patio to dine in.

Greek Jewel

Georgia, the owner, is a sweetheart. No, I'm not related to her. This family owned and run business, has been in SD since 1977. Food was fresh and served hot. We had a Greek Salad, with Spanakopita and Chicken Souvlaki Platter, with Baklava for dessert. We are Greek, so we know good Greek Food. Highly recommended for a Great Greek Dining Experience!!

Nice surprise

From the moment we walked through the door, we felt very welcome. We were the first customers but it filled up quite quickly. The waitress was very attentive and kind. The food is not expensive and they serve good sized portions. The quality of the food was very high and we didn't have to wait long. If I visited San Diego again, I would come back.

Authentic and so good

Had gyros and grape leaves with taziki and pita for happy hour. $5 wine and $3 beer. Food was such a refreshing tasty treat. Everything so fresh and tasty. Don’t hesitate to come here. 5 stars!

Greek?

Nice service, but has nothing to do with Greek. Feta (if it was feta) is over the salad crumbled. Zaziki only tastes like a lot of garlic

Like leftovers, but worse.

The food was disgusting. Spanakopita was lukewarm, soggy on the bottom, and the dough was raw. Chicken kebabs were dry and overcooked. What a waste of money.
