The host/owner was incredibly rude when we first entered. There was a bit of a wait, but there was open seating at the bar. I asked if it was open seating at the bar, and he scoffed and said "no, put your name on the list." Not the most personable man I've ever met, but I was hungry so we stayed. Once we were seated, it went along pretty well. Personally, the food was pretty basic for the price. It wasn't "oh my gosh" good, but it wasn't terrible. It was just eh.

I went with my cousins on a Sunday morning at about 11:00 a.m. and there was a 30 minute wait. We didn't seem to wait quite that long but it was well worth it. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a busy, bustling place but we could still manage to have a conversation. I had the Counter Special which was scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and sourdough toast. I also ordered a pancake on the side which was delicious--the pat of butter contained orange peel and the syrup was perfect. My cousin had the French toast which apparently they're known for. It also looked delicious! They also have a lunch menu but I didn't look at it too closely. They're not open for dinner.

Five of us had lunch here, including our 2 year old grandson. Everyone was happy. Good service, a good selection of breakfast and lunch selections and one of the best corned beef sandwiches I have ever had!

We saw a huge line for Mother's day brunch, so we decided to go there the day after. Maybe we expected too much, we were disappointed. A very average diner. Not worth the money. Given what Seattle has to offer, I will not revisit.

I had breakfast with my daughter at Geraldine's in the community tent right outside the restaurant. I had the goat cheese omelet and she had pancakes. The food was prepared well and tasted amazing. The price was fair for the quality of food you get. I look forward to dining there again hopefully post covid.

Have been to Geraldines on numerous occasions and the food is always great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Like most restaurants presently it can get a little noisy but it is well worth it.

Neighborhood diner that has a large clientele. Efficient service, clean and friendly. I would prefer tasting a better cup of coffee. Ordered the meatloaf sandwich and would prefer to have it a little more traditional (leave out the cheese , add lettuce)

We decided to look up "Best Of Seattle" restaurants on our recent stay & Geraldine's popped up on numerous lists, so we decided we had to give it a try. I'm a huge breakfast fan...could eat breakfast any time of day & as much as I wish I could keep this as my own little hidden gem, I would feel like a creep to not share it with others! This place is a must. The menu takes the 'basics' & elevates it all so very nicely. It's breakfast as it should be. Flavorful. Hot. Fresh. Crisp. Fluffy. Creative. Perfect. One of the managers was kind enough to give me some tips on how they make their amazing French Toast... I won't mention the secrets here, just let me say 'It's special enough" that it's worth the extra effort! They also had some specials for the day, one of which was a pumpkin pancake...if they have it when you visit, order one. Then you may want to order another. The coffee is also hot, fresh & flavorful. Service was exceptional. Atmosphere is bright, cheerful & lively. If you're visiting Seattle or passing through be sure to make time to stop by. We certainly will. Nice job, Geraldine's! (We all tried & loved these meals: French Toast, Chicken Fried Steak, Pumpkin Pancake, Avocado & Pepper-jack omelette & the Emerald City Scramble with biscuit & gravy)

This place is amazing and the service was excellent. The food was incredible and you will not be be disappointed. My wife and I are definitely coming back here.

Me and My Family stopped by Geraldine's for breakfast. The host seated us immediately. They had a wide selection of omelettes, pancakes and other items. Me and my wife ordered omelettes and the kids had pancakes. The portion size was good and the food was fresh. The server was attentive and polite. Overall good service and good food.

We enjoyed a very nice brunch here. It isn't Four Seasons and they don't make Eggs Benedict, but more rustic brunch classics are well-made and very generous. The only thing that really detracted from the experience was the extremely loud noise level, which made conversation a real challenge. Maybe some noise absorption in the ceiling could be helpful?

I was eager to try Geraldine's as I heard many rave reviews. It was great! We arrived around 9 and shortly after that there was a line that had formed outside the door. We ordered the eggs a la Mexicana and the corned beef hash. Delicious!

We enjoyed having lunch in this restaurant and all of us really enjoyed our lunch. The M and Cheese was to kill for. So all was fine until I received my check and noticed that they had added $.50 to my bill. The other couple with us also used a credit card but we're not charged this fee. Apparently they only allow one free charge per table. I have never seen or experienced this policy in my life - over 50 years of eating out and charging. They also charged me sales tax on this amount. So my very positive experience turned sour quickly. When I asked the server about this issue he just blamed management. Just be aware of this and don't let it ruin your eating experience.

This place is always crowded so come early. Was there for breakfast. Food was good and service just ok. Ambience is great. Nice vibe and full of energy. A great place to have a good start in the morning.

Took 5 family members here for a very good breakfast. everyone's meal was awesome ex elf Mt scrambled eggs were a little dry. the deep fried french toast is to die for but our favorite was the bacon - the best anywhere!

Diner-style grub for an eclectic crowd. Packed on weekend mornings. Known for their biscuits and french toast.

Three friends and I stopped in for brunch before heading to downtown Seattle for the day. We shared a couple breakfast dishes as well as the a fresh made coffee cake. The coffee cake came warm and melted in our mouth. We upgraded to the French toast on one plate and it was absolutely delicious. We would go back in a heartbeat the next time we’re in the area!

My husband and I went for lunch. I had the Chicken Pot Pie. It is not a typical pot pie, however, our very nice man wait staff let me know this in advance. It is more of a thick delicious chicken soup with a yummy large biscuit on top. Very tasty. My husband had the Corn Beef Sandwich and loved it. He had his with tater tots, as they are his favorite. This is a fun little dinner. I know on the weekends it isa really crowded for breakfast. We went around 2:30PM, so it was perfect, no wait at all. We will come back many times as our daughter and husband bought a house about 10 minutes away!

The cue never stops. But it was worth the wait. Food was really good, most especially the pancakes and the corned beef. Service was also prompt and fast.

Geraldine's is a local institution with strong ties to the community. This is the kind of place one goes for hearty American breakfast fare, and meets friends and neighbors while there. On a weekend, get there early, or there will be quite a line. I'm fond of the straight-forward egg dishes, though from time to time I'll try the house special pancakes (which vary - sometimes pumpkin and spices). This is a place where the staff makes you feel comfortable - the dishes are a throwback to the 1950s - an homage to art deco - but there's nothing like eggs over easy with crispy bacon and home fries, or french toast with fruit on top.

Great breakfast options, and open all day (we just tried the breakfast). This place is busy, so be prepared, however it's fairly good size and they are a well-oiled machine to get people in and out. Ordered Mimosa, one of the omelettes, super good. Great for folks visiting Seattle, good excuse to check out Columbia City.

Even though we got there early on a Sunday, 9 a.m., the place was packed! We had to wait for about 25 minutes but it was worth it. The food was great. The service was friendly. Great environment for families and kids. Nice place for breakfast. Not greasy by any means. Just fresh food done well!

Very popular iconic breakfast place. Good breakfast selections. I had the pot pie and everyone else had a breakfast selection. Mine was just OK. Everyone else liked their's. We had a party of 6 and for early Sunday afternoon, that meant about an hour wait to be seated. Once seated, our order was taken quickly and food came after a reasonably short wait. I would like to try some other dishes and I would have enjoyed it more if it were not for the long wait. I would definitely eat here again, but I would not wait an hour again to do so. Nice location. Great atmosphere (brick interior walls), friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices. A nice diner reminiscent of the 60s.

While not a big elegant restaurant with a lot of decor and ambiance, the quality of the food and the friendly service make it a worthwhile stop if you are in the neighborhood. The four of us each had different plates with no complaints at all. Everything we ordered was cooked to our satisfaction. The restrooms are clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

The food and service are very good and I would go again for sure if I am in that part of town - but I'm not sure I'd go across town to visit, especially since there was an over hour-long wait for Sunday brunch. It wasn't raining and we weren't in a hurry so we stuck around, but that combination doesn't happen very often! Good local spot though. I can see why it has so many 4 and 5 reviews.

Great food, service, clean, glad that the waitress strongly suggested we try a one piece of French toast as it was our first time,. I had CFS and eggs...outstanding. My wife had pancakes...wonderful. We shared a piece of French toast and YES!!! our waitress was right, thank you, we will be back soon.

My husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon in Seattle. We were walking in this quaint neighborhood and stumbled upon Geraldine's Counter. We went in (we had matching Hubby/Wifey tee-shirts) and we were treated to a complimentary huge slice of warm blueberry coffee cake that was so delicious. Service was great. We also went back for breakfast a few days later and were just as pleased. The French Toast was beyond yummy. The bacon is served thick sliced and doesn't taste too salty. Cute little place in Columbia City area.

We were looking for a good breakfast spot between the airport and the city and decided to try out Geraldine's. Terrific menu and wonderful staff. It was pretty crowded but they worked hard to accommodate our party of 7. Food was DELISH! Highly recommend!

Best breakfast in Columbia City, Geraldine's is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. I am a breakfast food fan and they never cease to amaze with their tasty menu. Diner vibe and eats are anything but ordinary. GO, you'll be so happy that you did. Wait in line if you must. It's worth it!

Not only did we live our meals we loved how the staff and owner welcomed my daughter who has Down syndrome. Way to be inclusive while serving great food. Breakfast is my favorite meal there. It’s jot in my neighborhood but it’s worth the 20 minute drive for us.

Geraldine's continues to be a very good choice for breakfast in Columbia City. They are well know for their french toast. I like their omelet's. The service is pleasant.

great breakfast, will definitely go again. i always get pancakes and my husband gets some kind of egg dish, we both really liked our meal.

Met my sister-in-law for breakfast. When getting ready to order, learned I had a "special" sticker in my menu and my breakfast entrée was FREE!!! What a wonderful surprise! Our waitress advised the "specials" of the day; then promptly brought us coffee before a short wait until our breakfast was served. All was hot and tasty! Staff stopped by frequently to refill our beverages and didn't rush us out the door when we finished. So nice to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with friends!

Flew into seattle for the first time today and it ferry like we flew into a hurricane and on top of all of that the family was super hungry. We found this stop and came to try it. This was a good eat and the family enjoyed the Geraldine casserole.it was a nice warm meal for a nice cold day. The service was friendly and speedy, but you are not rushed out at all. Time can stand still in this establishment. I did feel that the portions where a bit small for the price and I had to order extra toast, but I the jam they have on the table is to die for. This will be a regular stop the next time I am in the Northwest.

The lines are long for breakfast on weekends, but seemingly worth the wait. I love the hash browns. The egg dishes are done to order, produce very good (my friend from California still raves about the tomatoes in an omelet), and room is not too noisy. You can go a bit late, or on weekdays and have a great experience.

Rainy Friday morning. My wife, adult daughter, infant grandson and I. Friendly service, very good, straightforward egg scrambles and omelets. Hash browns were very good—crisp but not over cooked. But the biscuits! Big, slightly crumbly, fluffy with a very slight unexpectedly different but wonderful flavor. And a great house raspberry jam. Gonna go back, if only for the biscuit.

I don't even like French Toast, but a friend got me to try theirs, and now I can't get enough of it! Their pancakes are awesome too, as is everything on the menu. I just love this restaurant (apparently, so do a lot of other people because the only drawback is that there are lines on the weekends!) Beware!

This place is amazing. There was a 15 minute wait, but everyone was incredibly friendly and it didn't feel at all like an inconvenience. We sat at the counter. The service was excellent, and the food (2 of us had burgers, and one had breakfast) was UNBELIEVABLE. It was somewhat expensive (more than $50 for 3 of us), but worth it. Highly recommend.

Travelled out to Geraldine's this morning for brunch, having been a regular jaunt for my brother and sister in law as they live in the city. I had visited on a previous visit to Seattle 18 months ago and they were very accommodating. I have a dairy and egg allergy and on my last visit, I was accommodated well and staff were friendly and the food was good. Upon visiting today, we stated my allergy on the offset and stated last time I visited I was made a corned beef dish without eggs and they would not cook it with butter and they used oil. Today the waitress stated that it would not be possible as all ingredients are pre-cooked in butter. I asked if she could recommend a dish that could work for me and she shrugged her shoulders, said that everything is butter and gluten heavy and that she is not willing to ask as 'he' would freak? She said that she would get our drinks and maybe I could choose off the lunch menu. I asked again if she could offer advice as I was unsure what could be changed or altered for me, she responded with 'what?'...I repeated my question and she flicked through the menu and shrugged again and said 'I don't know, shall I just get your drinks?'. At this point, after feeling extremely embarrassed and actually bad for the other members of my party for going out of their way to take us to one of their favourite places, it was suggested by my sister in law that we leave and go into town to eat elsewhere. I do not appreciate that my family have been inconvenienced by a wasted journey, paying for parking etc and then leaving due to me not being accommodated. A really sad end to our trip to Seattle and makes us feel that for a city with so much flexibility and welcoming, charming people in most places, Geraldine's Counter could not be classed as this.

My daughter brought us to this "hot" Columbia City eatery here for breakfast and told us we would need to get there early to make an appointment we had. She was right we were there at 7:45 for a Saturday morning 8am opening. By 8am there was a crowd waiting to get in. I'm not sure why they don't open any earlier but they do open earlier M-F. My daughter told me they had great Chicken Fried Steak (for breakfast?) and I will admit I was skeptical. If you like greasy, heavy Chicken Fried Steak this won't be to your liking but if you like succulent, moist, delightly seasoned Chicken Fried steak that isn't greasy - go for it! It was great! My husband ordered a Breakfast Casserole which I expected might be a little dry for his "wet egg" taste but it was also perfect. He thinks it had cream cheese throughout to keep every mouthful moist and flavorful. It was also seasoned nicely. My daughter also had the chicken fried steak and her companion had an omelet, fruit cup instead of potatoes. We were all very full and very pleased with breakfast. The coffee was fresh and waitstaff kept it coming. They also serve a very nice raspberry jam or sauce I assume is either house made or of similar quality. I am picking raspberries from our garden and making very similar. I will say it is pricey. My chicken fried steak with poached eggs about $16.00 and although I loved it I rarely spend more than $10.00 for breakfast but then again I don't get Chicken Fried Steak either. The restaurant isn't fancy but the restroom is clean, service is good and booths are comfortable. If you are in a hurry there is counter service. Go hungry! I saw a sign they have Fried Chicken on Thursday nights.

Place was packed, loud and lively. We waited about 20 minutes and got a decent table. The food was quite good, even for me. I am not a breakfast person but our party of four was well pleased with the variety, freshness and tastiness of the offerings. It is worth a visit.

I'm not a biggest fan of American food as most of it tend to be a bit oily for me. However, this was one of the better American food diner I went to. All of the food they brought was custom made and tasted decent. Even Nachos were interesting.

Food was awesome, hot and the service was quick and efficient. Didn’t have to wait long for a table...this place was hopping on a Friday morning! Couldn’t ask for a better breakfast!

Stayed locally and discovered this gem for fabulous brunch - something North America is very good at. Atmosphere was lovely, very clean, food was freshly made and very tasty

There is always a crowd here so get there early if you don't want to wait. The food is basic diner and nothing really special.

I must say, I enjoyed my breakfast at Geraldines this morning. The French toast was delicious and the bacon was amazing. Oh, and the coffee was great too. Check them out!

Good was great and flavorful wanted to devour every plate that passed by me. Friendly staff and looks great on inside

Tastefully designed space on a cool block on Rainier in Columbia City, really friendly staff, and easily some of the best cafe / diner food we've had anywhere in Seattle. Awesome oatmeal pancakes from scratch (they have different offerings daily) and deliciously truly thick cut bacon. Fantastic burgers and sandwiches. Fresh ingredients. Geraldine, you rock.

Nostalgic little place with amazing food - got there at 8:15am or so and within half an hour of our arrival the place was packed with a waiting list. I had a breakfast of sides - avocado, toast, and awesome thick-cut bacon. My daughter's omelette was enormous and filled with yumminess, and my husband simply devoured his breakfast casserole. Service was attentive and friendly. Great place for simple, delicious fare.

Great place for breakfast, was a bit crowded and had a short wait on a weekday. Nice typical breakfast/brunch offerings. Service is personable and fast. Prices reasonable, easy street parking.

We had a 15 minute wait outside and only happy to hang around and people watch ! I had a great breakfast sandwich and hash browns. They were incredible ! Crispy and cooked throughout with that nasty fast food flavor. Also my daughter and her boyfriend loved their scrambles. The biscuit was perfect. I am from the east coast and I will dream about this great place . I'll come back and try their lunch and dinner menu next time I'm in town !

Despite it's name, Geraldine's offers table and booth seating for most of it's customers. For decor it offers 100 year old brick walls and art by local artists which you can't really examine well since you have to look at it over people sitting at the tables! But it's nice to look at what you can see easily. But you go for the food, so, here's about the food. Our orders included French Toast with berry compote, a fancy egg dish, corned beef sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and truffle tater tots. There was also the option to get an alcoholic beverage. Service was very good with an attentive waitperson and prompt arrival of food. The French Toast was available as a half order and the truffle tater tots were really good, a surprising evaluation from someone who doesn't care for tater tots.

It feels like the northeastern United States diner with a counter with stools and tables. It is on a busy corner. Due to the popularity of Columbia City, especially on a Friday night it is difficult to find parking. It's comfort food all the way. The group had the meatloaf dinner, a Cobb salad, chili, chicken tenders & fries, French toast. The waiter was excellent in serving the six of us including two elementary school age kids.

Came here based on a review and the french toast was recommended, it did not disappoint! Best I have ever had! Stacy the owner told us they marinate it overnight, awesome.

A good place for Breakfast, Lunch or dinner. The food has alway been good. Servings are generous and price is modest low.

Casual diner with good food. It typically seems to have long lines for breakfast on the weekends so be prepared for a little wait but they do seem to turn over the tables quickly. Really nice staff. Their breakfast was your typical diner style but the quality and taste were good. The chili was my favorite.

We finally made it to Geraldine's. We've driven past it so many times and noticed the long lines. Now we know why. I had the special of the day which was carmelized onions, bacon, arugula and goat cheese. I enjoyed every bite. My wife enjoyed her avocado, pepperjack omelet with sour cream and salsa. She actually finished the whole plate, which is a big deal for her.The only bad thing would be the hashbrowns. It was a bit oily, so maybe another side order will do. It's a must stop if you're in the Seattle area.

Kinda catered to the yuppies.. Fancy plates, trendy... However, for a big guy like myself, I would much rather go to a Denny's or IHOP. A little pricey for breakfast...

Such a great spot for a casual meeting for 2-6 people. The staff is so friendly and good at giving you a realistic wait time. I love staring out the window at all of the passing traffic in Cap Hill. Also, if you're a college student, you can enjoy a good meal without breaking your bank. Love the bacon especially!

…and some of it creative, this is Seattle, after all. I was visiting in the neighborhood and stopped in for breakfast. It was crowded at ten am on a weekday but they do a good job of keeping things moving. Their special coffee cake is delicious and a huge portion. The decaf coffee was the best I've ever had. Yummy breakfast.

We are visiting from Massachusetts and have found it a challenge to find a “real” breakfast place…we finally found it at Geraldine’s Counter! I had an omelet with crispy hash browns and decided on a biscuit. Everything was delicious! My husband enjoyed his French toast and eggs with bacon, and, of course, real maple syrup!!! The service was lovely, our server, Rey, had a great sense humor and was a joy to talk with! We have recommended it to our daughter, who lives in the area! It was also very easy for us to get to, we are staying in West Seattle.

For a table for four on Sunday around 11:30 had to wait 50 minutes. Parties of two were seated much more quickly. Waited because of the reputation and it was worth it. Not sure what to say about value because $62 for brunch for three adults and one toddler with one tea, one coffee and one orange juice seems a lot, but perhaps I just don't have enough experience in this area of the country. Once we were seated we were not rushed at all despite the people still waiting. Service was paced correctly and was attentive without being too much.

I always enjoy having breakfast for lunch so that is what I did when I decided to try this place out. First off, I will say be prepared to wait as the place isn't that big and it gets really busy. I was finally seated at the counter and I decided to go with the pancakes of the day which were applesauce pancakes with apples on top and for a side I went with the thick cut bacon. I will just say that these were amazing pancakes. They were light and fluffy and you could really taste the apple sauce. The bacon was nice and thick and what more can I say, its bacon! It was a fantastic meal that I would gladly wait in line for again.

I stopped by this great restaurant for fuel before a day of touring Seattle. I sat at the counter the through the course of breakfast, the place completely filled up and I can see why! I had the Slammin' with bacon and the pancakes of the day which came with blueberry compote. This was an excellent recommendation from my server. The bacon was probably the thickest slices I've ever had and the pancakes with the blueberries was delish! Great value for the amount of food and filled me up greatly for a day of sightseeing. I wish I lived nearby and could come back again and again!

So glad we followed the reviews to this local eatery. Everything we ordered was yummy. Herbed omelette was outstanding, pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon butter even better, French toast with peaches, the highlight of the meal. Don’t miss this place, but get there at opening, or you’ll be waiting for a table.

Geraldine's is very popular - there is always at least a short wait, except at night. It is a little loud, but is very social and friendly place, and people are having a good time. They offer breakfast all day which endears them to me. The menu has great variety and the kitchen turns out good dishes - lots of comfort food. The prices are a bit high for the portion size,

When I saw that this was listed as the best French toast in Seattle, I was a bit skeptical. BUT WOW. They were AMAZING! I ordered the half order of french toast with the topping of the day, poached pears. I added some strawberry jam to it, and it was so delicious (texture was perfect). My boyfriend ordered the Kick Butt Chili, and we shared a side order of hashbrowns (the combination of these two was also very good). I'm happy we stopped by on our trip, and I would definitely return for that french toast! It can get a little noisy during peak hours, but I liked the music selection so I wasn't too bothered.

Found this place for breakfast in Columbia City. Sat at the counter and had amazing service and food. The french toast is different than anything you have ever had. This place is a must when visiting Seattle.

Average breakfast place. Interesting little shop outside the hustle and bustle of Seattle. Nothing special really but still a decent place for breakfast.

One of the pioneers in the regentrification of Columbia City. Welcoming to all, clean and bright, diner vibe. Consistently great breakfast. Have dined there probably 50 times over the years, and never had a mistake in my order. Hash browns crispy not oily, eggs however you like them. Good thick cut bacon. Maybe the best biscuits in town. And their French toast is legendary. Even the orange and grapefruit garnish is top notch. It's always mobbed at breakfast, so plan on waiting for a table. The kitchen runs like a well oiled machine, and many of the outstanding staff have been there forever, so tables do turn, especially the counter. Parking can be difficult in the denseness that has become Columbia City, but there is a large cheap pay lot just 1/2 block away.

The food was good and there were lots of choices. Not too expensive and good service. The oatmeal with fruit is great.

We met up with one of our adult children, and their friend, who recommended Geraldine’s as it was close to SEA-TAC. We all ordered different omelets and 2 orders of French toast to share. My avocado pepper jack omelet was loaded with avocados and jack cheese and was cooked to perfection:) it was served with wonderfully crispy hash browns, choice of toast, and a bit of fresh fruit garnish. I believe they used sour dough for the French Toast and it was absolutely amazing!! Crunchy outside and tender in the middle. It was very busy on a Sunday morning but the service was fast and efficient. Our coffee and water glasses were never empty. I highly recommend Geraldine’s Counter Restaurant!

Meal was awesome all around. We all loved our breakfast/brunch (I highly recommend the Eggs A la Mexicana). Kids wolfed down their pancakes. Wonderfully loud, lively atmosphere, great for kids. Totally worth the wait!

This is a very good place for breakfast. We don't go out much for breakfast because I can make killer biscuits, waffles, pancakes, Dutch pancakes, omelettes, etc..hard to beat...but we were visiting my son and he thought Geraldine's sounded good. Well, it did not disappoint! I am also from the south and know GOOD biscuits and gravy which 99% of the time = BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. So, given those odds I passed on the gravy and biscuits and opted for their baked egg dish with a biscuit on the side. Well, when I saw the biscuit, and then tasted it, I figured I had made a mistake by not ordering the biscuits and gravy!! When our waiter came back to the table I asked if I could have just a taste of the gravy in a little dish...he was very kingd and obliged.....I did indeed make a mistake not ordering the gravy and biscuits. I think the gravy is made the way it should be..with real milk, flour, etc...not the canned glop most places use as their base. My husband got eggs and pancakes and the pancakes were amazing too. Our son enjoyed his egg scramble. The biscuits are heavenly and next time it will be biscuits and gravy for me! Nice family restaurant and you may have to wait. Personnel were very attentive and nice. Highly recommend...now I'll have to wait longer!!!!

We tried to get in for Sunday brunch - the line was out the door. We returned on a weekday around noon - still a wait, but manageable and worth it. Almost everyone was having breakfast, which is available all day. The special was crab cake eggs Benedict... Delicious!

It's restaurants like Geraldine's that are starting to make me think about the rational for "fine dining". Excellent service, very good food, fun, eclectic atmosphere in Columbia City. Reasonable prices, very busy and a bit noisy, but worth the wait if you have to. If you are tired of uppity service, small plates and sky high prices, give Geraldine's a try. You might start thinking about the rational for "fine dining" too. We will be back!

I'm big on breakfast & Geraldine's did not disappoint. French toast is my "go to" breakfast plate & Geraldine's stepped up. Located in the Columbia City area of Seattle, south. Does get crowded on the weekends, so be early or be prepared to stand in line.

Biscuits and Gravy are loaded with Sausage country gravy....best in Seattle. Scrambled eggs are Light, pancakes are very good and Service is friendly and sincere. Favorite for Breakfast.

We were in town for Seafair weekend and our airBnB hosts suggested we walk here from their house but to get there early as lines may be extra long given what weekend it was. Got there right as they opened and there was no line at all. Menu items all lean towards healthier eating but were not any less tasty. Prices were very reasonable. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Can definitely recommend.

As a regular visitor to Seattle this has been on my list to try for a while. We weren't disappointed and even lucked out as a table for 2 we skipped past several larger parties and were seated immediately. The food was of course great.

Best breakfast place ever! Wish we lived closer because I’d be a regular! The French toast and omelettes are out of this world.

My wife had brunch at Geraldine's Counter today, a bustling cafe in the increasingly hip Columbia City neighborhood. We had been there before to order standard American style full breakfasts and had not been particularly impressed. Today we changed up and tried some different items to much better effect. We ordered french toast, chicken chutney salad, and a cup of oven-roasted cream of tomato and basil soup. I also ordered coffee and my wife ordered English Breakfast tea. The french toast: unique for crisp texture and flavor due to a deep frying of thickly sliced artisan bread in a very light egg batter, dusted with powdered sugar, and nicely spiced. The accompanying serving of maple syrup is a perq that some may find unnecessary- outstanding overall. The cream of tomato and basil soup- served in a mug, it was a thick and creamy puree that was quite satisfying but a little short on sweet basil flavor and much too long on seasoning with thyme. For my taste, it rates only fair due to this imbalance which could be easily corrected. The chicken chutney salad. This consisted of chunks from a variety of apples and bite size pieces chicken dressed with a mayonnaise-like coating that had been flavored with curry spices, sitting on a bed of romaine lettuce. While the preponderance of apple over chicken was very much to my taste, the ratio may disappoint others looking for a meatier salad- I would rate it good. The tea- my wife reported that for once she did not feel discriminated against due to her preference for tea. She was served a pot of tea containing an infuser with loose tea over which boiling water had been poured making for quite decent cups of tea- she was deeply appreciative. The coffee- abundantly served, but extremely bitter! I drink multiple cups of strong, dark roasted drip coffee daily (Italian or French roast freshly ground at home) and I take it black with no sweetener. I could not drink Geraldine's coffee that way. I had to mask the bitterness with sweetener and cream. I don't know if they are failing to thoroughly clean their coffee makers and serving carafe's, or have another glitch in their coffee making methods or materials. I rate their coffee poor. The ambiance- the place is busy and the noise level is high. No attention whatever has been paid to any acoustic treatments to deaden the sounds from walls and other hard surfaces. Don't go there to relax unless your definition of relaxation is the cacaphony created by a dozen neighboring conversations. The chairs and tables are functional, but not particularly comfortable. The service- our waitress was very busy, but pleasant and more than adequately attentive to our needs. Very good overall. Bottom Line: It is worth going to Geraldine's for the unusual and delicious french toast- especially if you are a tea drinker. Some of the lunch items are decent too.

If you want one of the best breakfasts or lunch in Seattle, head to Geraldines. A diner atmosphere with just plain GREAT food. Order the hash and eggs!

Loud. Long lines. Mediocre food. Great, if you like screaming kids, Americana food and mediocre service.

Geraldines has a number of home made items and is a very busy place. Nice selection of food and soups. Good service.

We went during a layover in Seattle. We were looking for a slice of pie from A La mode Pies. We were lucky enough that we had a choice of 2 pies because they get their pies on Tues which is when we were there. We went for a late dinner so there was no wait. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with making recommendations. I had the corned beef. It wasn't a NYC Deli sandwich but very good and the bread was great! My husband had the chicken pot pie which was also good. The recommendation for the fried french toast with plums was worth it even though we went there for the pie. It was delicious even without the vanilla ice cream. The pie however was fantastic. The Mexican chocolate mousse pie was fantastic with just a hint of heat. The key lime pie was also good. It was an easy walk from Links.

Geraldine's gave that small-town vibe which I enjoyed a lot. Items are a little pricey, more like a sit-down restaurant range instead of diner rates. The customer service was excellent though and was worth the trip.

We were looking for a place fir breakfast, as there weren’t many in the area. Based on reviews we drove to Geraldines and was not disappointed. Great breakfast. You need to pay for parking and it could be confusing. There is a parking lot on the side street and also street parking. But you need to have the space number which wasn’t very clear and make sure u go to the right parking box, we were at the box in front of us but was parked on street so our pay box was on the other side. Thank goodness for a local who helped us.

Gerladine's came recommended to us by some long-time Seattle residents. It's in the trendy Columbus City area. We went on Sunday morning and had about a 30 minute wait. It is not a very big place, but we anticipated some wait. We started with coffee and one Bloody Maria - all really good. I had Eggs ala Mexicana: Eggs scrambled with pepperjack and chilies and served with black beans, pico de gallo, & sour cream. Everything the three of us ordered was outstanding. I will return every time I am in Seattle!

Went here for breakfast and we were not disappointed. I had the sweet corn scramble and most others in my party had the biscuits and gravy. Food was excellent and service was wonderful! We had a bit of a wait but there were nine of us so I completely understand. Would definitely go here next time we are in town.

We were visiting Seattle and our friends suggested we have lunch at Geraldine’s Counter. I had a really hard time choosing from all of the great options. With help from an exceedingly server, I finally chose the Geraldine’s Casserole. The combination of ingredients tasted great. My wife had the innovative chicken pot pie with a biscuit top. My only complaint was the noise level. It was really difficult having a conversation during lunch. I would definitely return though to try the Mac & Cheese, the chili, or the grilled cheese sandwich.

We travel to Seattle about once a year to visit Family. I've stopped at Geraldines three times now for Breakfast. My husband loves the French Toast. I love the Counter Special. The atmosphere is a fun urban experience!

In Columbia City there are some good places to eat. Geraldine's is one of them. I had the french toast with real maple syrup which was very good. The service was also very good. When it's very busy like today there can be a wait and it can be a little noisy. But don't let either of those things stop you from enjoying a good meal there.

Good food lil pricy. Expect to wait at least 20 min. Pretty good environment and good food. Liked chicken sausage and French toast is crispy good.

This place is in the heart of Columbia City, Seattle. The food is plain, simple and very good. the only downside is the noise which can be intense at times.

I very rarely give a 5-star rating, but this place deserves it. The place is very busy, but the staff turns over the tables as fast as they clear. They are friendly and attentive. As for the food, it is awesome. You need to try the biscuits and gravy. Being from the South, I have high standards for this dish, but Geraldine's nails it. The hash browns are freshly shaved and cooked perfectly.

Went to Geraldine's on a Sunday morning around noon. The restaurant is in Columbia City, which is a colorful, ethnically diverse neighborhood with lots of interesting shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. First, let me say that I will drive for miles (30 in this case) for any restaurant that serves real maple syrup instead of the brown goo that passes for pancake syrup in most places. I was already favorably disposed toward Geraldine's because of that when I walked in the door. I ordered the Slammin' breakfast, which is basically eggs, a choice of breakfast meat (my bacon was thick and chewy) and two "pancakes of the day." That day's pancakes were made with corn meal, and they were tasty but a little bit gritty for my taste, which is just the nature of corn meal. They came topped with fresh strawberries that were perfectly ripe. The service was excellent, and everybody in my party was happy with their meal though nobody raved. The menu offered both breakfast and lunch options. The coffee was good and they were generous with refills. There were mimosas available, as well. Overall, Geraldine's was an excellent value.

At Sunday noontime every seat was taken and the staff were up to the challenge. Service was attentive and friendly. Coffee refilled without having to flag down a waitress. The breakfast explained the restaurant's popularity. On the weekend it is not the spot for a quiet intimate conversation as the noise level can be considerable. For a weekday lunch I had Geraldine's unusual but delicious and satisfying version of chicken pot pie. This casual corner spot is recommended.

We happened upon Geraldine’s purely by fate while up in Seattle. After reading reviews we decided to try it out. Great atmosphere and food. We both had the omelets. The avocado and pepper jack omelet with home made pico de gallo was amazing. Service was excellent and personable! Our only regret was that we didn’t have enough room to try the pancakes and French toast. Next time!

I've been here twice and have been in food heaven! Both times I got the Slammin' with French toast instead of pancakes (extra charge, WORTH IT) and a coffee ($20). It is on the pricy side, but I feel it is worth it for the taste and service! The second time I went, around noon, there were about 20 people waiting outside. Fortunately I was alone and there was room for me to get seated at the barstool area immediately. I almost feel like not posting this so more people don't go, but they really deserve a great compliment and review. I'll definitely be going again!

Great menu selection with great food results. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Portions are tasteful and plentiful. FYI - all members/clients must be present to be seated.

We had a late Sunday breakfast @ Geraldine’s and the place was packed. After about a 15 minute wait we were seated. Though super noisy, it’s worth the acoustic overload as our food was delicious. Our waiter Joe was excellent as we had traditional breakfast fare and lunch items from the straightforward menu. My sweet potato fries & corned beef sandwich were both the best I’ve ever enjoyed. Everything was fresh & cooked to order—I cant wait until my next trip to Seattle to return to sample other items.

Food and ambiance were great, very busy and popular place. Was taken here by locals. Nice omelettes, homemade biscuits, etc. I've not been here for lunch or dinner yet. Looking forward to returning.

We were four of us for lunch. The sandwiches were very good but the noise was great that we had a hard time just talking with each other

Best French Toast ever! They do a daily French toast and a daily pancake. They are always good! Price is reasonable for the food quality and quantity. My wife has a herb omelet that was amazing as well. Definitely recommend this place. Just be prepared for a long wait - it’s very popular!

A cozy breakfast place in quaint Seattle Columbia where you can eat a hearty breakfast anytime of the day.

My cousins, my daughter and I all decided to meet up for brunch on Sunday morning it’s a little 10 minute wait the place was pretty crowded so I was pretty sure it was going to be good at least I was hoping. We were seated really quickly and our order was taken in a timely manner. When the food was delivered Wala it was delicious. I was looking for a nice light brunch before a day of shopping and it was wonderful. I’ll be back, and I’ll try something different next time because everybody’s plate on the table looked absolutely delicious.

We went based on the recommendation of our friend who we were visiting and we liked it so much that we went back the following morning as well. This is old school diner and the service and quick and efficient. If there is a line when you show up don't worry it goes by very quickly. The biscuits are a must.

Great food ,quality service. Best breakfast on town at affordable prices. Highly recommended, enjoy it!

I went 2 times and I enjoyed, Very good food, not big portions, always I finish hungry when I go, but quality-price is correct.

Stopped in to have breakfast. Boyfriend ordered Chicken Fried Steak and it was fantastic I ordered the French Toast with Strawberries, while it was good, it wasn't outstanding for me. We ordered two Bloody Mary's with Clamato and they were the best we have had in a long time! Next time I will try the Biscuits and Gravy or breakfast casserole which looked really good.

Had brunch while my wife had her hair done. Her hairdresser had just been in and told us it was her favourite place. Who am I to argue with a local. I wasn't disappointed. I was sat up at the counter and was entertained watching the serving going on around me. Endless cups of coffee as in lots of places and the brunch was good. It was nice to sit and watch and enjoy my food talking to the local people. Shame the wife's hair was done so quickly.

First time here as family were apartment shopping and thought we would grab breakfast here. Guaranteed wait to get in but worth it. Staff friendly and provided great service. Had the spinach goat cheese omelette with the added smoked salmon. It was wonderful. Only served breakfast and lunch but you can order anything on the menu all day long while they’re open.

We enjoyed the best home style gourmet breakfast at this place during our vacation. The service and food were delicious!

I have just gotten to Seattle to visit my daughter and we needed a quick lunch near her house. She brought me to Geraldine's Counter and it was a great choice. There is an extensive menu and they are very accommodating with making the meal fit your needs. I ordered the Reuben and substituted the fries with a cup of the cream of mushroom soup. Both were excellent. My daughter had the bacon egg and arugula breakfast sandwich and she loved it. It was available with avocado to sub for the bacon if desired. The server was pleasant but not overly friendly, though he checked back to see how everything was. My daughter said they are FULL on weekends for brunch so be advised. The food is not cheap, but as I'm not local, perhaps this is the norm for Seattle.

We stayed in the area and wanted lunch before the baseball game. It was a bit of a wait however the food was delicious and affordable prices. Highly recommend to come here for a meal for some good home cooking food. The French toast was great.

I never heard of Geraldine's and i had never been in Seattle's Columbia city neighborhood but I wanted to try someplace different. went online and searched best Renton breakfasts. well this is not Renton but it is a great restaurant. absolutely packed on a Friday morning but no more than a 5 minute wait. I had the french toast with strawberries and a side of bacon. delicious! I'm not really sure how they prepared the french toast (not soggy at all, more crispy) and the thick slice bacon was excellent. I'll go back when i'm in the neighborhood again

Finally made it for breakfast. Had The biscuits and gravy w side bacon. The bacon was Good, with a perfect balance of smokey salty sweet taste. The biscuit was melt in your mouth good and the gravy tasted home made. My husbands French toast was really good! I loved the texture of the french toast, nice and crunchy & didn't get soggy with the syrup.

We came here on a busy Sunday but found the wait not that long although it really depends upon the number of people. We liked the atmosphere and they don't put the tables too close together which is appreciated. A different reviewer said it was very noisy but it's a busy place so we thought it was fine. The guy who sat us must be the owner because he really seems to care about moving the tables and getting people sat as quickly as possible. The food is very tasty - they have traditional breakfasts but some really nice combinations, homemade coffee cake and their portions are a great size. Their coffee is good. They let you change things without a bunch of up charges which is great. They also don't have a bunch of service charges like many Seattle restaurants have now. It's a good, solid neighborhood breakfast option and we enjoyed it. Our server was excellent. We'll be back!

We had lunch here after waiting for about ten minutes on a Saturday at about 1 pm. I had a very good hot turkey sandwich with melted provolone and pesto. It comes with good fries. It's a bit noisy, but not uncomfortably so. The waiter was helpful and efficient. The restaurant itself is in an older building with exposed brick walls and has a comfortable feeling about it.

On a rainy Sunday morning, we tried it. We waited for about twenty minutes. Not bad. My husband ordered an omelette with some veggies. I ordered the eggs and hash browns with wheat toast. The coffee was burnet! The orange juice was okay, a bit to much pulp for me. The service was okay, not great. The restrooms were clean and fully stocked. Overpriced for what you don't get. Overall, I have had better.

Geraldine's is my favorite breakfast place in all of Seattle. I go there weekly when I am visiting my son in Seattle. There is great variety and you can get lunch items for breakfast too. Often my son and I share an omelet and get an extra side of toast. The place runs like a well oiled machine. The servers, cooks, dishwashers, bussers all do their jobs so well that they aren't even noticed and yet the place runs smoothly. So, even though you may wait, you won't be disappointed.

Went in for a quick lunch, and decided to try the Chicken Pot Pie. The portion size was about what I expected. It was served very hot, and pretty fast considering that I thought it would take 15 minutes to cook. Not so. While it was very flavorful, and the chicken chunks are substantial and tasty, I was not prepared for how much of the dish is consumed by biscuit. Lots of biscuit. To the point where I felt a bit cheated even though the price is quite reasonable at $10.50. I like this restaurant and will return but the chicken pot pie needs to be less carb and more protein and vegetables.

The service here is top-notch as is the food. We were there the first time on a Sunday and only waited about 15 minutes. I had corned beef hash and it was real beef-tender and flavorful, with veggies and eggs that were cooked to perfection. I opted to pay a buck more for the biscuit instead of toast & am soooooo happy I did because it was amazing-especially smothered in butter. My mom had the casserole which was pretty good but I preferred the corned beef hash. They serve Caffe Vita coffee & our cups never got lower than 3/4. We went back a couple days later for lunch. I had the corned beef hash again since they serve breakfast all day and my mom got the chicken pot pie which is covered with a yummy biscuit. Oh I forgot about the pancakes. They were delicious too-with blueberry compote and REAL maple syrup. These guys use fresh, quality ingredients and the food is AWESOME!! We will definitely be back. I'm glad Geraldine's isn't closer to my house because I would weigh 300 pounds!

My friends and I ate breakfast here. The omelets are great. They even have gluten free bread (however, they cannot make the bread into gf French toast, fyi). The avocado, pepper jack omelet was great and the chicken sausage was amazing. Would highly recommend this place. Worth the wait.

Exactly what a diner should be in 2018. Nice ambiance with healthy choices available as well as what a normal diner should have. Blissfully free of hipsters. Big lunch counter, quick and friendly service.

We love Geraldine's. It's a great little, local breakfast spot. If you can deal with the line-ups - it is worth the wait. Enjoyable classic breakfast options and good service with a diner type vibe. What more could you want?

Geraldine’s counter in Columbia city is home food at its finest. Great 100 year old building. Quaint town and one amazing diner. They are busy! They Close at 3. So it’s breakfast and lunch. I had the Bodacious BLT And the kids had the French toast speciality It’s worth going out of your way to visit

My favorite breakfast of a 9 day west coast trip, took a little wait and off the route drive to get there but we're very fortunate to find a parking spot on the street on a Saturday morning. Touted as Seattle's best French toast that is why we went there. While tasty and crunchy there was no evidence of eggs in the batter. Not what I call French toast... My wife wasn't fond of it. My chicken fried steak was pretty good. Eggs and potatoes good, / but an attempt to get a biscuit instead of toast on my already gravy covered plate, turned into an extra $6.75 half order of biscuits and gravy... Decent food in a happening neighborhood. Still giving 5 stars. Not sure about that French toast though.

Geraldine’s is amazing. It is cheerful and spacious. Although the breakfast dishes are regular brunch fare, they are made with local ingredients which makes all the difference. Million times better than Denny’s. Coffee is delicious. Hash browns and scrambled eggs were yummy and very light. I had a seasonal chocolate raspberry cake which was decadent but still tasted very organic and healthy! Lots of regulars come in too so you get the local flavour as well. And homemade raspberry jam! dishes are regular brunch fare, they are made with local ingredients which makes all the difference. Million times better than Denny’s. Coffee is delicious. We went for breakfast on a weekday, mid morning. Be prepared to wait for a table for 20-30 minutes. The line was that long. However, the wait was worth it. We each ordered a breakfast and two of us substituted a biscuit. While the breakfast was very good, the biscuits were heavenly. Do not pass on this for the small extra cost. Also, I ordered the pancakes of the day (buttermilk). I can't remember the last time I ordered pancakes, because they are always disappointing. I was rewarded with the best, lightest, airy pancakes I have had in years (probably more like decades). The service was great, also. Overall a great experience.

Met friends here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. It has both a great atmosphere and excellent food, as well as outstanding service from the host and wait staff. Plan on a wait for a table. Yes, it's that popular! Portions were ample but not overwhelming. The 'scramble' I ordered was nicely prepared and presented, as well as offered with a nice choice of accompaniments.

We hit Geraldine's right when they opened and there was already a line forming at the door -- with good reason! I think Geraldine's Counter continues to serve the best breakfast in the area. There were six of us and each one of us had something different -- and no one was disappointed. Great food!

Great little spot in a revitalized are on Rainier Ave. S . Service is good and so is the food. You might have a bit of a wait during the busy times but good is good.

This place is very busy during the weekend but worth the wait. Call to make reservations or go early. The food is very good. We had the pancakes and the french toast. Normally, I am a big fan of french toast but the pancakes were the best. It was light, fluffy and very flavorful with just the right dose of cinnamon. I was a little bit disappointed with the french toast - they were not soft enough. The bread was really crunchy. Will definitely give it another try and would recommend to friends! :)

I went here for breakfast with my mom, she got an omelette and I got the French Toast with eggs and bacon. The bacon is some of the best bacon I've ever had and the French Toast had its own unique twist and flavor compared to other restaurants that I have had french toast at. I also had the fruit crumble for dessert and it was alright, could have done without it. The staff were really friendly, great customer service! Overall I'd say it's one of the better restaurants that I've been to in Seattle

We got there Saturday around 10:45am and got seated around 11:15am. They were pretty busy and only for a short time was there no one waiting in line. They are obviously very popular!! Most people opt to wait outside instead of crowding the entrance. They are on a corner and there's a bench nearby and the lady comes outside regularly to call names on her list. We got 3 dishes - the French Toast, Avocado and Pepperjack Omelet and the Emerald Scrambled Eggs. The french toast was divine - it seemed to be slightly deep fried (OMG!!!). I opted not to get the toppings as it was peach that day. I'm not a huge fan of avocado but my mom loves it and absolutely raved about her omelet. My husband loves a good scramble and this one was good. We went and had breakfast the next day elsewhere for Mother's Day and my mom told me, no offense, but that Geraldines was better :) Later on, we also looked up top brunch places on Yelp and this place popped up. Go, you won't be disappointed!

Whatever you take is gonna be delicious. Nice ambient and our waiter was always smiling even with a hardly managable number of people. The food was soooooo good, the eggs the toast the bacon. Also the grapefruit juice. I loved it.

Good place, with plenty of delicious options and kind waiters. Enjoyed both days, and loved the raspberry jam too.

This was our second visit to Geradine's. We enjoyed our light and crispy French Toast. As we went on a week day mid-morning, it was not crowded. Good and expensive food.

I had previously only dined at Geraldine's for dinner but decided to try it for brunch. Even on weekdays it can get very busy! They serve breakfast all day which is fabulous, and have a wide range of savory and sweet breakfast options. They also cater well to dietary restrictions. The environment is chic and fun but not formal. Overall, the perfect brunch spot in Columbia city!

Went on a Sunday morning while staying in Columbia City. The place opens at 8:00am and when we got there at 8:15, it was almost full already. People coming shortly after us already had to wait, and by 9am the line was quite long - so get there early. Breakfast is served all day and is fantastic. We had oatmeal and pancakes, and both were delicious. Large portions too. Server was friendly and enthusiastic. Can highly recommend.

It was a Sunday when we visited...and we had to wait. Not unexpectedly. Once we were in, the service was quick. Drinks were great and the food...delicious! Our server was funny and the right amount of attentive. I would definitely go back!

Geraldine's is a busy breakfast place in the Columbia City area. I am from the South, and I have had plenty of biscuits and gravy in my life. This was by far the best I've ever had! the plate also came with eggs and hashbrowns. Also, the sour cream pancakes, which were the pancake of the day, were fabulous. I would absolutely go out of my way to eat at Geraldine's again!

Took the family there while staying in Columbia City, Seattle. It was super close to our AirBNB next to Seward Park. So may delightful choices for breakfast. I think we all had something different and shared with each other. We had a great experience. I think traveling alone or as a couple this is a Five Star place, but for families it might lean to the pricey side.

As a local, I've heard that I should try Geraldine's from many sources. I finally stopped by for lunch today and fortunately I was immediately seated. I have heard that there's usually a wait especially on the weekends. I ordered the Geraldine's Casserole and my work colleague ordered the French toast with a side of turkey sausage. Both meals were absolutely delightful. Generously portioned, quick service, very friendly server....perfect. The menu had a lot of interesting choices, so I will be sure to be back and try a few more options.

Have stopped in this restaurant several times when visiting Seattle, WA. If you get there I n prime time, specially on weekends, you will probably have a wait time. The food choices are varied and xcellent as is the service. Even though it is full many times when eating there, the wait time to take our foos choices and be served is not long. It appears that this neighborhood restaurant is vy popular.

The French Toast at Geraldine's continues to be some of the best you'll find in Seattle. It's located in the south end, right in the heart of Columbia City and well worth a visit.

The downfall is that if you try to go on the weekends it is often packed. Really, it is just packed all the time it seems. It is worth it though! I had the BLT and they used really thick cut awesome slices of bacon. It was delicious! The prices are reasonable too.

This is the kind of place we seek when we travel: small, local, popular with locals, real (good) food ~ & we went out of our way to get there. Showed up around 9 on a weekday for breakfast, easily got a table... but there was a steady stream of incomers after us & the place quickly filled up. The famous (?) counter has 10 seats, & there are several booths & window tables. It's a nice, bright, comfortable venue. Our waiter was fine, tho seemed stressed & was in no way friendly or welcoming. Good strong coffee, & they do have soymilk. The french toast is different: very crispy on the outside, & was served with blueberry compote & real maple syrup. The omelet special was stuffed with (sparse) gruyere cheese, spinach, red onions & portobello mushrooms. The hash browns are the shredded kind which so often are store-bought &/or frozen; a disappointment. But the biscuits really are wonderful: warm & fluffy inside, a bit crispy on the outside ~ tho the $1.50 upcharge is excessive. All in all a good experience with good food. We'd definitely return.

Pre Mariners game stop. fast seating, excellent service. Very fast wi9th food service, and the blueberry French toast was, and is the best I have ever ate. I would highly recommend this Restuarant.

Went on a Wednesday morning, got there around 10:30am, no wait. The food was all good, but the biscuits.... the biscuits were heaven. My people are from the south so I think I have a solid base on which to judge a biscuit. They are big, light, airy, flaky, and a fabulous flavor. I'll go back next time I'm in Seattle just for the biscuits.

My daughter looked up “best breakfast” in Seattle and Geraldine’s popped up. So glad we found this fantastic restaurant because it was AMAZING!!! I had the breakfast casserole with a side of avocado and I don’t think I have ever had a better combination! One of the servers recommended a side of gravy and gave me a small cup to try, oh my heavens!!!! The whole experience was worth the little side trip down a different path. We were able to go into a part of the Seattle area we have never been and enjoyed the entire experience! Highly recommend! They are busy and there is a wait, but don’t let that discourage you! Four of us sat at the counter and it was great beCause we were able to talk to different servers and watch the process.

Found in the Columbia City section of Seattle. I found it through TripAdvisor and confirmed the reviews through a secondary internet search. Glad I went! The reviews were right. We sat at the counter where we had great coffee & food (tortilla omelette & French toast) with prompt service. We would definitely go back.

I had heard good things about Geraldine's but when I got there and saw the line outside for breakfast on Sunday, my heart sank. The rest of the family decided to wait it out and I agreed. Everyone in our group had something different and each had an excellent breakfast, while my husband was delighted that he was able to choose a non-breakfast item. It was well worth the wait and I can't wait to be back in the area so I can go to Geraldine's again!

Having lived or traveled in every area of the country, it's a sad fact that outside of the southeast, no one knows how to make biscuits. They make biscuit-flavored bricks... Dry, heavy and sad... And they'll tell you that they are homemade.... But all the stories and all the jam in the world do no justify a second bite... Biscuits at Geraldine's are a different story...they are good.. And they aren't even the best thing you order... The pancakes are good, the French toast is good, and the bacon is awesome...

About once a month we head down the street to Geraldine's for breakfast. It's always busy, always tasty, and the service good. It's nothing fancy, just your average American breakfast with a sometimes Mexican, sometimes Southern spin.

Quaint, retro and cool, and worth the wait, Geraldine's hit the spot for a delicious pancake, sausage and coffee breakfast. The pancake flavor changes daily, but we got lucky with the coconut pancakes! Great, friendly service and the food can't be beat! Also loved the take on old movie posters like Vertigo.

Even on a Monday morning, this place was filled with all ages - from toddlers to seniors like ourselves. Not sure when all the millennials actually go to work, as about half the seats were taken with that age group until well after 10 am. Their problem, I guess. Anyway, we had a great breakfast - I went with the avocado and pepper jack omelet which arrived soft, as ordered. Although the hash browns looked like the standard served all over the country, these had a particularly good flavor. Not sure what they fry them in, but it was good. My husband enjoyed the hast with perfectly done poached eggs. Has was heavy on potatoes and onions, which were tasty, but a little more meat would have made it better. Quick refills on coffees, and a genuinely warm wait staff. Pricey, but than that's Seattle.

We were in a hurry to the airport and they ran us through the drill with lightning efficiency. The staff are all warm and friendly like one would expect of a business reliant on local traffic. They're great to their neighbors... I can just tell. Service was on point, food was spectacular. This place is just plain winning.

had a great meal there with my family BUT, when I asked for type of toasts and one of the choices was biscuit. So my family ordered that biscuit. When I received the bill, I was charged 1.50 uncharge for each biscuit. It was never told to us that there was an uncharge. And to add additional injury, I was charged 50 cents for splitting the bill with my brother. I never encounter that in my travels.Geraldine, you may be good place to have breakfast, but I will not patronize you if you don't appreciate your customers.

I was visiting my son and he took me here for breakfast. What a treat! Columbia City has a great little 3-4 block quaint 'downtown' area and Geraldine's is smack in the middle of the action. Everything was awesome and even though this was a weekend, the wait wasn't all that bad. Food, service, coffee - top notch for sure! By all means, try this place if you are anywhere near Columbia City.

The waiter was very patient and personable. The menu had so many good things, that we took probably more that a few minutes to decide. I got the herbed omelet with goat cheese and salmon, which came with fruit. Hubby got steel cut oatmeal & fruit and ending up eating half my omelet after I told him how good it was. If I were going to be in town longer, I'm sure I would be at Geraldine's several more times. It was good!

You'll wish you lived in this Columbia City neighborhood of Seattle so you could drop in. They even have water bowls and biscuits outside for the dogs. We went for Sunday breakfast with the two grandkids, ages 8 & 10, a very kid friendly place with good food and great coffee (well, it is Seattle) Granddaughter & I shared the pancakes of the day which were ginger apple. Also had scrambled eggs & sausage. The grandson had the Emerald City scramble with lots of veggies and hash browns in the scramble, not with the scramble. Glad I grabbed a bite at the beginning because there was nothing left on his plate. And my husband loved his biscuits & gravy. We're looking forward to a return visit.
Best french toast
their French toast is the best French toast I ever had. It's different than usual French toast - it is more crunchy, but I think it is what make it special. Overall, their breakfast food is good. Expect a long waiting line on the weekend.
