Nice ambience

Me and my some friends come to here for dinner, This place is perfectly fine, and staff were so good.. Main menu was so delicious.. We all love this restaurant, and definitely we visit again..

Mediocre

By Robert B |

I came here for brunch with high expectations, none of which were met. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance is fantastic and the views are unsurpassed by any other restaurant in Los Angeles; however, these were the only two benefits of my meal. First of all, the service was terrible. It took almost 15 minutes for the server to take our drink/ food order, and we didn't see him again until he came to offer us dessert. Furthermore, after he handed us the dessert menus, he took over 20 minutes to come ask for our order. Besides the bad service, the food isn't all that great, especially when considering the fact that the prices are on the higher end. All of our entrees were just okay and the dessert, although plated beautifully, was mediocre. Overall, my best piece of advice is to eat somewhere else before coming to the Getty or else you'll be stuck between this overpriced restaurant or an also overly expensive, subpar cafeteria.

interesting culinary experience

By globtrotteuse |

An interesting dining experience that is offered by this property which is located in the Getty Center Nice view

It's unlike any other restaurant in a museum

By blt1959 |

The four of us had many choices to choose from. We each had something different and were very happy with our meals

3/5 stars

By TravelLove17 |

This review is for afternoon tea. It was $50 pre-tax and -drinks, I think. I thought the food was disappointing. The tea options were disappointing too. I knew it certainly wasn't a traditional tea, but each item was disappointing in its execution of attempted creativity. If it's mediocre food, they better make up for it by providing a respectable amount of food, but the items were tiny (as is traditional). The best thing was the banana bread - I love banana bread, but come on. That's cheap and easy to make at home. I want something delicious out that I can't make at home. The cucumber sandwich - an incredibly easy sandwich to make tasty - was bland. Frankly, everything was bland. Some of the pairings in the items were even kind of gross (orange preserves and salami - blech). I really only booked tea here because I thought it'd have a great view. But the restaurant is located in a way that you wouldn't have a nice view wherever you sit. The restaurant terrace doesn't have a nice view of anything. I give it 3/5 since the waiters were nice and it was like ~fine~ (aka no food poisoning), but I certainly wouldn't ever go back for any food or for views.

Convenient food

By latamaritabonita |

The variety of food offered here was good for both a teenager and an adult. Good healthy options as well - great setting!

Memorable Lunch

By Daniel D |

I bought my mom to the Getty for lunch and it was such an amazing experience. The service was impeccable and the views are stunning. We coincidently both got the gazpacho followed by the branzino and it was all very delicious. The cocktails were great too. Highly recommended.

Good food!

By 786malgorzatac |

I liked the food there. Beet salad with goat cheese and ceasar salad were really tasty. Plus they have good wines there!

Good Place to Eat, a Lot to Offer and Expensive

By Brian S |

This is a good place to stop if you are starving. A lot to offer but very expensive for what you get.

FOOD GREAT - VIEW AMAZING - SERVICE... NOT SO MUCH

By judysinger |

After a lovely day at the museum, we had dinner at the Restaurant. Certainly the ambiance is all about the view. Ceiling to floor windows to view the vistas from all around. Truly magnificent. We got there at about 5, and timing was great for this time of year, to really take in the sunset. Cocktails were on the "rather small" side, but served in lovely glasses. Appetizers were outstanding. Three of us had the burrata cheese with blood orange and balsamic drizzle and it was outstanding. My husband had the pumpkin spiced soup and it was so-so. Our entrees were steak and 3 of us had short ribs. Oh my gosh, it was actually the best filet I've had in a very long time. Don't bother with the desserts. You can do better almost anywhere. "much ado about nothing" really. Service was...well...very poor. I had to ask the waiter 3 times for olive oil for the bread (which was delicious!!!) and then finally my husband asked him and he brought it. It was like his mind was somewhere else, After dinner, we just sat and talked for a while. It appears that they have only one seating per night, so they didn't mind. Definitely would recommend this and wow, the ride up to the top of the hill is that great tram ride. The only thing I would suggest, is to avoid a rainy day or night, because there is absolutely no protection at all from the tram to the restaurant or to the museum.

A nice cosy place to have snacks and drinks

By BPB2012 |

During our visit to Getty Center, we had some drinks and snacks at this cafe. It is quite a cosy place and convenient to relax in between the time spent at the center.

Special Treat

By Lourdes Maria C |

Everyone from the receptionist to the food server was helpful and courteous The meal was very tasty and plated so well - food was appealing and served at the right temperature Lunch came quickly too Vegetarian friendly options available Already Looking forward to my next visit

Beautiful view and great food

By janerrrr |

We loved the ambiance for lunch. The panoramic view was amazing and the food was excellent. I had the chicken caprese with farro risotto. It was not a salad but a warm dish which infused the buratta cheese and tomatoes with creamy farro and topped with strips of marinated, grilled chicken breast. My husband had the seared tuna with arugula. It was a difficult choice as everything on the menu looked delicious.

Delicious Food

By Barbara A |

Stopped in at the Getty Center Restaurant while visiting the Getty Center. This dining option was preferable for my friend and I because it offered seating with staff that would take our order. The food was delicious!! Definitely worth what you pay for it. Our waiter was nice but we did not feel that we got as much attention or service as some other tables. Maybe because we were dressed comfortably for a long day at the Museum but we definitely felt underserved which was disappointing. The views from the restaurant are amazing! If you are looking for delicious food and more of a fine dining experience while visiting the Getty, this is a a great option!

lots of delicious choices

By bubuli32 |

We enjoyed a quick late lunch here. Lots of healthy vegan and vegetarian choices as there are many stations to select from. We ate outside on the patio , enjoying the relaxing view.

Oh what an artsy view

By joeytd |

Taking in the getty center on a sunday afternoon is a true treat. The wonderful gardens mixed with splendid architecture and views of the entire LA basin make for a pleasant afternoon. When one gets hungry one wants to eat. I would recommend making a reservation as the dinning room is constantly busy. The menu is smallish but there is a little something for everyone. Enjoy.

Nice view

By Ahmet Y |

When visiting The Getty Center, this is the only restaurant to eat lunch, in addition to the cafes. We tried the salmon dish and the fruit salad. They were delicious. It has a great view to enjoy. Liked it.

I nearly licked the plate

By Suitonaplane |

As a rule I generally avoid eating in restaurants in museums and galleries as they often overcharge and underperform. But it was 2.25 and I hadn't eaten all day so I ventured in: So glad I did. The Octopus entree was excellent as was the wine I chose, but the strawberry dessert was devine. The place was emptying out by this time and as I was in a quiet corner I did seriously consider licking the plate. But decided it was too risky. The meal wasn't cheap but I would say it was excellent value for a very good meal in a great location. The service was also very good. Attentive but not overbearing. Not only would I go back, I am actively thinking how I can get back to LA to do so.

Delightful cuisine, extraordinary views

By Sprout15 |

We had a relaxed lunch here amidst an outing to the fabulous Getty Museum. We booked our table the day before, which may account for our ability to get a table with a spectacular view. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable--about the wine as well as the food. He recommended the scallops, fresh and seasonal, and they were perfectly cooked, though the preparation was not particularly flavorful. The stone fruit flat bread was a nice flavor combination, but the texture of the bread was not outstanding and the dish would have benefitted from more stone fruit, less prosciutto. Good selection of wines by the glass.

Excellent Dining

By conniemccreight |

Fabulous views, white tablecloth service. Very good menu, unusual for a museum. Both lunch and dinner are served.

Amazing dining experience

By expectquality1942 |

The restaurant at the Getty Center should not be confused by the Cafe on the floor below. The restaurant is on the second floor of the "Cafe/Restaurant Building." The views from the dining room are exceptional. The space is modern and an architectural marvel. The menu is pricey, but worth it. The food changes seasonally and is thoughtful and perfectly executed. A wonderful place to take guests who haven't been to the Getty before

Fresh & Pricy

By Bchgrl9 |

They had a nice variety with lunch specials, sandwiches, soups, salads and snacks. We shared a chinese chicken salad @ $17 but it was fresh & crisp. The seating on the patio was pleasant with GR8 views. Some families also brought their own sandwiches and foods.

Lovely restaurant, great views

By Loretta231 |

Really nice, upscale restaurant for lunch that was a perfect break from looking at all the art at the Getty. I'm sure the Cafe is also good but this is a really nice place to have a leisurely lunch and make the whole experience really special. Squash soup was heavenly; good salad; nice glass of wine. Service was really good even though restaurant was busy (as I'm sure it is most days). Friendly, not pretentious. Really good experience overall.

A great lunch

By brwerner |

Loved the setting, lots of light during the day when we had lunch while at the museum. Excellent food and very good service. Try the toasted cheese sandwich - it was unlike, and better than, any other I've ever had! Reservation advised.

I liked it

By F-F |

I liked the food and the prices were good. Consider it if you are the Getty center and you are hungry.

Beautiful space, great service, food competent

By pyegirl |

This is a gorgeous space atop the mountain at the Getty Complex. The food is good, competent, although not super creative. The vibe is upscale and refined (not a place for screaming children). The prices are what you might expect at a place like this. Service is very very good, although a bit obsequious--old school dining. Overall, a great place to go for an evening sunset. Make reservations as the place does fill up. Expect to spend about $50 per person without drinks or dessert (plus tax and tip). Nice splurge

Best Octopus Ever!

By Moonlight |

I love museums and have visited more than a dozen this year alone, but have never found museum restaurants/cafes worth reviewing. The restaurant at the Getty is outstanding. We had reservation for the museum, but not the restaurant (reservation is recommended). We got hungry after walking and looking at all the art at the Getty and just want to sit down, get a nice drink and some food. The restaurant was busy during lunch, but accommodated us with a nice table with great service and food. The charred octopus is cooked to perfection, and the best I have had in a long time. Other dishes were also beautifully presented and delicious too. This restaurant is definitely worth visit on its own.

Add gourmet to your visit

By FGU |

If you want to add gourmet to your culture, this is a must! My wife and I had decided to go to the Getty and when I arrived I feared I would be hangry while walking in. We split the chicken, the scallops, and a fantastic cauliflower and leek soup. Our server was wonderful, didn’t catch his name but he was French! We were impressed by the food, the service, and the views and would definitely return and recommend!

Ideal for a quick lunch, clean, bright and spacious

By Corb2000 |

The cafe provided us with some welcome healthy eating options during our visit to the Getty Center and it was ideal as a quick stop due to the limited time we had. The salads were large and tasty, which were all we needed on a hot day. There were plenty of free tables even at lunchtime and the cafe had great views looking out over the grounds and adjoining valley to the west. Good points: + Ideal for quick and healthy eating + Reasonably priced + Self service so no fuss or waiting + Attractive space with great views Not so good points: - Could be a little noisy at busy times for anyone sensitive to background noise

Yummy

By Kevin W |

A good range of food at a reasonable price. Easily accessible with plenty of space to relax in a busy day

Convenient cafe inside the museum with cafeteria style

By Evan Braz |

Very good choice of food including Asian dishes and American lunch items and plenty of seats inside, some with a nice view of the outside.

Lots of options, but the restaurant is probably a better choice.

By NancyBG |

Clean, fast, lots of options, but the food wasn't very good at all. The Getty center is a great museum, but I'd advise either eating before going there or maybe trying the full-service Restaurant there. I assume it is better but have not tried it yet.

Fabulous food and view!

By AbbySnacks |

When one visits the Getty Center, a must is the Getty Center Restaurant. Be prepared to enjoy a glass or bottle of wine, a starter, entree AND dessert with coffee! Your palate will appreciate the delectable array of flavors.

Amazingly delicious gastronomic food and attentive service

By Flix_vdb |

The food at the Getty Center was sublime, paired with an exquisite wine that was suggested by the waiter to be paired with our meals. Really enjoyable dining experience.

Fancy meal!

By JennieK963 |

An elegant lunch, brunch or dinner is a perfect way to enjoy the Getty a little longer. The wine list and cocktails are well done.

Just Average

By m s |

Waited in line for a long time for food and the sandwich was very dry and overpriced. They offered free water from the soda fountain which was a nice touch. Otherwise, the cookie was the only thing I'd recommend.

Good, quick lunch

By Michael W |

The lunch options at the Getty Centre are not great, but for a reasonable choice at a reasonable price try the Cafe at the Getty Centre. There is plenty of choice alle a bit pricey but if you take time and consider the wide choices you will find a good option. We both went for the Mexican line and have the Assada rubbed Tofu Salad with all the options. It was a generous plate including gaucame, rice and beans doth salad etc and was just the job today.

Really nice view and foods

By Su W |

Make sure you have their sea bass. It is cooked almost perfect with a pretty generous size for lunch. Very relaxing place after you tour the art center.

Perfect spot for a wuick museum break

By Mona Lisha |

Spacious cafeteria seating area! There are a lot of diverse food options (American, Mexican, Vietnamese, and more) with lots of options for vegans and vegetarians. There is a coffee and dessert station (the coffee was excellent!). They have hot food options and cold/ready-made options (salads, sandwiches, etc). The drink station is where you can get free water, but it is not well-demarcated and I had to go back into the cafeteria to get water for the table. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Great place for lunch to re-energize and refresh between exhibits!

Huge selection to suit any appetite

By CindyLou |

Well run cafeteria style but by section of food categories and tastes. Good signage of what is available. Priced reasonably too. Can eat indoors or enjoy the tables outdoors. Very fresh food.

Royal seating and views and all was illuminated by natural light. Service by Ismael!

By India C |

Engaging visual ambiance and service by Ismael whom intrigued diners with his history. Both exterior and interior sights were truly arresting. Water, coffee, company, and conversation were of art, current events, architecture and the travertine beauty of “The Getty Center.” Crunchy crust sourdough was served warm with a disc like butter formation on a teacup sized saucer plate. Seats are upholstered in a velvety hand "porffor" fabric and preceded an afternoon of Renaissance art from centuries past (still engaging patrons today). Culinary prelude was the cheese board then vegan seared ravioli paired with tamarind glaze, scallion puree, and micro cilantro---which packed a burst of bright green color thus accenting ocean/mountain vistas and white travertine by Meir. Lovely for lunch or dinner.

A delicious lunch beautifully prepared and served

By Patty Doyle |

We visited the Getty Center and enjoyed lunch in their beautiful restaurant early this year. Every item on the menu was appealing, and the bread course was particularly delicious. My daughter and I each ordered something different to share and we also shared dessert. Everything was wonderful.

VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE

By HARRY M |

We had a very enjoyable lunch here at The Cafe. Lunch was pretty much buffet style but a good variety of items. We had the Chinese Chicken Salad, ham & cheese sandwich with a fruit cup and a variety of house-made deserts. Everything was very good. Good lunch option.

Good choice while at the Getty

By kt1405 |

Huge variety of food choices, large helpings, quality food and reasonable prices. Happy we ate there.

High Quality, High View, High Price

By California Dreamer |

To say the Getty Center is spectacular is to speak the obvious. This is a must do on a trip to Los Angeles on many counts: a world class art museum, jaw dropping architecture, open vistas that amaze, and a fun monorail ride thrown in! Since you will spend hours at the museum, you'll need to refuel. The Getty Center Restaurant serves top quality food that rivals the surroundings--and you wouldn't think that possible. On multiple visits, I found the food icreative, properly proportioned, made from clearly fresh ingredients, and served with style. All of this comes at a price, and if you judge on price in relation to value, the restaurant is ridiculously over priced. They can't afford a misstep at such lofty levels. Normally this would be an Excellent rating, but the price-value component brings it down a notch.

we only had to wait for a brief 10 minutes before being seated.

By Leandro R |

My mother and I decided to visit this restaurant without having made reservations in advance. Surprisingly, we only had to wait for a brief 10 minutes before being seated. Our server, Ciso, provided us with excellent attention and displayed an impressive knowledge of the menu.

Superb choice of food.

By Martin U |

We were spoiled for choice by the food on offer and all very reasonably priced. Pleasant surroundings and a good lunch.

What they lacked in service they made up for in taste

By ALCF-SF |

The room is exquisite in a simple, architectural way, and as my dining partner said "the space elevates the mind." We had excellent food - kampachi crudo, and bruléed figs, steak, and kambocha squash salad (as an entree). We also received an excellent wine recommendation. Every bite was special, perfectly executed, and beautiful. When staff were there, they were friendly and professional, but in general, the service was inattentive and disorganized. It felt like we were there when they were understaffed or perhaps training people. It was a late lunch, so they were not over-busy, but perhaps something was going on behind the scenes. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I would definitely go here again and just hope they work out the wrinkles in service.

Enjoyable setting and menu

By anitan434 |

Four of us met for lunch in a Friday at noon. We walked up from the parking since the tram line was full of student groups. Plan for that extra 15 minutes (or more) to get to the restaurant. Our server was courteous and knowledge. We ordered Cobb salads and the short rib Kare Kare. I am still raving about the short ribs.

Wow - What a view, what a lunch

By Linden B |

The Restaurant at the Getty Center is fabulous. You can see the ocean on a clear day and the hills behind Malibu. The food is also fabulous. We had the soup of the day (carrot curry) and the charcuterie plate (cheese and meats with honey and fig jam). Both were outstanding. For lunch we had the grilled cheese (fancy grilled cheese), the cob salad and the short ribs. All three were very good. This was a leisurely lunch, we were not rushed. The service was professional and friendly. The table cloths were white. The decors included purple velvet chairs which were very comfortable. This was a magnificent meal in a memorable setting. So yes, Wow.

As good as the art!

By CJE55 |

The Getty Centre is the number one attraction on TripAdvisor for good reason. The art is fantastic and the setting is out of this world. If you're going, you're likely to spend the whole day there. If you want lunch to match the quality of the art then I recommend dining here. It's a high end restaurant and not cheap but the food is absolutely first rate and the staff are charming. Having bravely (or foolishly) decided to travel by public transport from east LA we were a bit late for our booking but, thankfully, that wasn't a problem. We shared a tapas board to start. I had the seafood stew and my wife the local sea bass. If we'd been at a Michelin starred place I don't think it could have been better. Indeed, it's probably worth a visit even if you don't like art!

A good place for a break from the great sites in the Getty

By Ken T |

We accidentally discovered the cafe and it was a great place to stop for a break. Even sitting here gave us an opportunity to see some art.

VISITING THE GETTY CENTER? THERE IS NO NEED TO LEAVE TO ENJOY A GREAT MEAL.

By TravelAgentDave |

You CAN find great food at a museum, but then The Getty is not your ordinary museum. Enjoy a leisurely lunch from a very creative menu in between visiting the numerous exhibits. The service is exceptional and the food is well prepared and beautifully presented. There is a comprehensive wine list to pair with your meal. Prices are fair for the quality that you are receiving. If you can, get a table by the window and enjoy a great view of Los Angeles below, Catalina Island off in the distance and the Santa Monica Mountains all around you.If you found this review helpful, please tap the Thumbs Up tab below.

We were disappointed.

By LoLo |

At night, there is no view, Well, unless you count the dim outline of an unlit hill or the reflection of Christmas lights in the window. Without the view, there isn't much that makes this restaurant special. The food was good, but not good enough to justify such high prices. My swordfish dish was excellent, but my boyfriend's short ribs were tough and ultimately underwhelming. Our waiter was very nice and helpful, but he was very busy so it seemed like the restaurant was understaffed. In short, maybe our expectations were too high. But this restaurant certainly didn't meet them.

Amazing Food with Great Service

By JHugener |

We stopped in for lunch (reservations are a necessity) and were pleased to find that this restaurant is still a gem. The food is amazing and attentively served with a great view. We asked our server for recommendations and everything he suggested was terrific! We will definitely return.

Excellent service

By singinggigi |

Booked a lunch reservation on Open Table. Highly recommend doing this right after reserving entrance time for Getty Center. Great setting with tranquil ambiance. We ordered a vegan squash spaghetti and a olive relish ocean Trout. Both were light and tasty. The pastry chef Joanne came out and talked about her chocolate birch dessert. I ordered a coffee and my husband had the Sage. Excellent service. My coffee had always been topped off. Heather, our server, went through the trouble of finding Parmesan cheese ( while the restaurant doesn’t usually stock it). An enjoyable dining experience.

Good quality, great views, good services and for type of food good value for LA

By dubainick |

Had dinner there in Jan 19 at around 800pm. The setting is very impressive - big floor to ceiling windows. Comfortable seating, with white table clothes etc -although not really totally upmarket. Service was very friendly and professional. three of us and we ordered main courses - lamb chops and two seafood stews. It is not cheap but given setting and nature of dishes it was decent value. Lamb was very substantial and ordered medium rare - it was a bit on the are side but still very good. Seafood stews could have been a little bigger. Side bread was excellent - especially for the States, and icecream for dessert was very good. After closing hours, the bus drops you back at the car parking / Uber pick up location. the museum is fantastic and it was a very nice end to the end of the day.

A nice place to eat if you are already at the museum.

By A R |

I don't even remember what we had, but we enjoyed it, and it was convenient. I would not deal with getting through Getty parking just for the restaurant.

you will like the food and wonderful view.

By 49freddyc |

when ever I take my friend from oversea there. We must lunch there. One of my best place. I am sure yoiu will love it too.

Ok food, ok service, VERY expensive.

By Joel B |

My title says it all. It ok for a one time experience, but I won't go back. Next time I'll bring my lunch.

Light bright, friendly service

By Marlaina C |

Light bright friendly service, as fast food service goes the choice of foods were good. Lots of pre packed salads vegan and vegetarian options. Coffee okay and their cheese burgers made fresh to order they even had a vegan burger which was quite tasty. Prices are a bit high however more than happy to pay as the Getty Centre Museum is free. The gift shops are pretty cool to if you want something different to take home as presents. This was a clean venue that was busy but really good service so moved quickly. I recommend a visit.

Getty Center Resturant FRESHNESS

By 55Mickey |

Getty Centre Resturant hit thespot after spending all morning there. We all enjoyed the offreing's we picked.

A tad pricey but lots of options, generally well-made

By chezjim |

Museum cafes are always a little pricey. This one is mainly reasonable, with a tad extra for the ambiance, and has a nice variety of options: sandwiches, salads, hot main plates, burgers, pizza, etc. All of it is pretty well made though the pizza has that tame quality you find in institutional versions (nothing deliciously drippy). The salads are decently made if unoriginal. The hot options are usually nicely varied; if you want to assemble a plate you probably can find a mix to your satisfaction. They have lower-priced, though not quite cheap options. Still, if you decide to have lunch while visiting the museum, you'll probably be happy enough with the food and delighted with the view. Even the inside space is airy and light.

Excellent food that is fresh and healthy

By crunch6 |

We had the most amazing salmon piccata after a salad with feta and roasted grapes. The meringue dessert was tasty, too.

Saturday afternoon outing

By 2014SamD |

A group of us went to the museum and decided to stop for a late lunch. It took a few minutes for them to get organized, even though we had reservations. Once seated, the service was good and consistent at all three tables we occupied. Two options, a price fix menu with three course lunch or ordering off the menu. We had folks do both. The quality of the food was good and consistent. The location and the views are spectacular. Worth a visit.

Lots of Healthy Food Choices

By Win C |

This place as I mentioned in my review of the Getty Center is what I would expect for a place like this- around $20 a person for counter service food. Lots of salads, make your own sandwiches, comfort food and burgers and hot dogs and chicken tenders for more mainstream options. We tried the salads with quinoa (lacking flavor), regular green salad (plenty to eat), turkey sandwich (ok), burger with mashed potatoes and green beans (decent). This place does get busy but I find the service to be quick. You will bus your own plates when you are done.

Too early

By bfindysz |

Got to the Getty Center in the early afternoon directly from the Villa. Looked around for a place to unwind after the traffic en route, have a cold drink and something light to eat. Discovered the cafe and restaurant were both closing at 2:30-3:00 even though the museum was open till 5:30. Luckily there are "coffee carts" strategically located and we sat down the shade near one in the main courtyard. These kiosks provide a satisfactory option to the above-mentioned eateries, deserve due credit and ought to be more clearly publicized. In any event, this cart fulfilled our needs.

Always a good experuence

By worldwonder805 |

This restaurant is within the Getty Center. We reach it by taking the tram up. It is popular so I suggest making reservations. The food is always with great taste - they try to source veggies locally whenever possible. Service is always top notch ! If you are visiting from out of town, this is a must do with the Getty center itself! Enjoy!

So sad this restaurant has gone “ down”

By Judy B |

1st time - quality and service was not acceptable And Food only so- so And service was dreadful ( only frt staff was “ on point “) WAS our favorite museum Restaurant - NO LONGER !!🤢🤢 What a shame !

Great Art and Great Lunch!

By Elizabeth H |

Visiting the Getty Center for the art, the gardens, and the view is a great LA experience. And a nice part of the day is lunch at the Getty Center restaurant. With the delicious food and beautiful setting, it's worth the extra cost to eat there instead of the cafeteria. The small bites dessert is highly recommended. One order serves at least two people. Probably need reservations for the restaurant. The museum itself is free but you do have to pay for parking. The current exhibit of Pontormo's "The Visitation" is amazing (the first time the work has left Italy to be exhibited in the US).

I love this restaurant.

By Kathy R |

This restaurant is lovely. The food is fresh, the service is exceptional. The menu is current and everything I have eaten here is well prepared. I have been here many times. Good to have reservations but not required.

Good food excellent views!

By kimtravelnut |

My husband and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary here while visiting the museum. The food was really good. Menu is small. I’m gluten intolerant and was able to find a sufficient amount of choices. The service was excellent! Yes it’s pricey. You’re paying for the location and service however, we did really like the food too. We live in the L.A. area and will definitely be dinning here again at sunset.

Delicious Food w/ Great Atmosphere!

By Richard S |

Great, great for lunch when you're visiting the Getty Center! Almost always try to bring friends from out of town to visit the Getty Center and treat them to lunch at the great restaurant. Always enjoy eating here, friendly and helpful staff with a menu that changes by the season. We shared one of the best cheese boards, everything went so well together, really look forward to ordering it again!!! Also recommend the Cobb Salad, the Soft Shell Crab just wasn't that great, but that's ok. This is still a wonderful place for lunch.

First time and blown away

By Jonathan S |

Normally when we visit the Getty we hit the cafe or food/wine carts. Decided to try the formal dining option. Was not disappointed with the service, the view, the space, the cocktails and of course the meal. On the recommendation of the server, went with the grape gazpacho cold soup - AWESOME - and the special of scallops - WORDS and this pic cannot do this lunch justice. Overall I would suggest that for the quality and price - this place is a great gem in LA.

TEA AT THE GETTY :Make it adventure!

By Maureen R |

Tea at the Getty was a lovely experience! I go to teas often and have been to many in LA, and this is among the best. The food was the hardiest but still "tea" food that was interesting, beautiful and yummy. It was beautifully presented with a great variety and some interesting twists . The food was fresh and well paired. We sat outside on the patio and although it was a warm day it was delightful with a cool breeze, and the view was stunning. The service was acceptable, efficient but nothing special, but they could have at least mentioned the birthday we were celebrating. Overall the experience was delightful! It was a great value for what was presented. I would go back and try the restaurant if the parking was validated.

Very good and maybe expensive cafeteria

By CTE |

We had a nice family outing to the Getty Center and had a relaxing lunch outside (wonderful in December!). The food was great but it was really expensive. BUT, since there is no admission charge for the museum, we have NO reason to complain!!!

Soup good, pizza not so much

By Connie12 |

I paid over 12 dollars for a cup of soup and ice tea. The beef and cabbage soup was good. Ice tea (one refill allowed) brewed. My husband got the pizza and stated it was not so good.

Food was wonderful in the past - something changed

By Jeannie D |

I have been eating at the The Cafe about once yearly for a while. They used to have wonderful salads and delicious food. I was quite disappointed in the food there this week. I got the Chinese Chicken Salad which costs almost $20 with tax and it was tasteless. And the dressing was also tasteless. My friend got the same salad and agreed that the food here has really gone downhill. Oh well.

Excellent food!

By Linda T |

Excellent food, great view, absolutely the best service ever! We enjoyed the museum and garden before dinner (we made reservations)....this is fine dining, but nice casual dress is ok.

Wonderful

The Getty Center is spectacular. It’s also one of the best deals in town since it costs just fifteen dollars for an entire car load of people. But as much as we enjoyed the museum itself, the highlight of our visit was lunch in The Restaurant. It has a quiet sophisticated ambiance enhanced by excellent service. I had a salad of Brussels sprouts followed by the charcuterie and cheese plate, and my wife had a citrus and fennel salad followed with a mushroom pot pie. Everything was perfect. Don’t miss an opportunity to have lunch here.

Wow What A View

By jtzs |

Make sure you chose a clear day or your trip will be expensive and unfulfilling. If you can come early enough to spend even a half hour to stroll through one part of the museum or the magnificent grounds you will truly enhance your experience. So much richness there on the mountain top between the art, even the buildings and then dining waaay up there!!! The food is priced high because you’re paying for the view (again a good reason to make sure you go on a clear day). Bring. Inoculars and make the other diners jealous. The chef does try to be creative and so the foods are unique. Be ready to try something different. Portions a smallish but really enough for the richter meals. It is a romantic place and a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just life.!!!! Enjoy!!!

Excellent food, lovely setting, reasonable price

By gajgmusic |

We went here recently after touring the center, which is amazing by the way. The setting is lovely, beautiful food. The staff was very pleasant, our waiter was outstanding. We had salads, the peach and burrata and the harvest - both were excellent. The wine suggestions were great, and reasonably priced for this sort of restaurant. Service was very efficient. We would gladly go again.

A very good place.

We had a great lunch at Getty Center Restaurant! First and foremost, do not go there without getting the Getty Center Restaurant...best I've ever had.. Thanks for lunch!!

Great food ... if you can get a reservation

By Sharon L |

For the best food at the Getty Center you have to go to the Getty Center Restaurant. But reservations are hard to come by on the weekends. If you are lucky enough to get a reservation, keep in mind that the menu is pricey compared to the other food options at the Center but the food/service are head-and-shoulders above the alternatives. Definitely worth the cost!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich rocks!

By Elyzabeth P |

That was my favorite because it seems like they loaded two chicken breasts in one sandwich. I ordered it with provolone cheese. Came with a generous portion of fries, it was enough to share with the hubby and two little kids. I passed on the Mexican food, because you can get great mexican eats at a local food truck down Santa Monica a few miles away. In the winter, I love their chilli and cornbread. Prices are moderate, not too expensive, and the view is just amazing.

Reasonable food at a reasonable cost

By Glenn |

Fast service with a large variety of food styles available. Not a lot of gluten free foods however. Surroundings in the cafe clean with views out over LA and Santa Monica.

Excellent!!

By eninagude ju |

I recently dined at the Getty Center Restaurant on may 15, 2024, and it was an unforgettable experience! The restaurant offers a stunning view of Los Angeles and is perfectly situated within the beautiful Getty Center grounds. The food was excellent, with a menu featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the salads and the artisanal dishes, all beautifully presented. The ambiance was serene and enriched by the surrounding art and architecture, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal. The service was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. Whether you're visiting the Getty Center for the art or just looking for a great meal with a view, I highly recommend dining at the Getty Center Restaurant!

A Great Meal

By vintagechina |

I decided to enjoy my time at the Getty and have lunch. I did have to reserve seating but it was a simple process. The restaurant is a separate building with lovely views of the surrounding area. It had only been open for a short time since covid. The menu is small. The online menu was different but I was able to find something appealing. I chose tuna poke with seaweed and rice. The presentation was lovely but the flavor was better. It was a great blend of flavor and texture. I was quite sorry when I was finished. The coffee was very good; I enjoy coffee with a meal. The dessert menu was also small but the mixed desserts: jellied fruit, macaroons. Chocolate and a cookie was so tempting. I have no regrets pertaining to the calories I consumed it was worth every one. Service was good and attentive without being overbearing. Price was reasonable for the quality of food and the situation. I would enjoy eating here again but I am not sure when I will return to the Getty. Should you be visiting the museum I do recommend this restaurant.

Unimpressed

By Harry W |

We had to make a reservation quite a bit in advance to eat at the restaurant. The prices were high and the food was just average. I wouldn’t recommend eating there if you want a good meal.

Fantastic View and Food

By David K |

The wine list is so reasonable and the views just spectacular. The service and food also excellent. We enjoyed the scallop entree as well as the short ribs. We started with the cheese plate which had generous portions of cheese and salami and sausage as well as a great pate and a very special honey. The soup of the day and fennel salad were also great. After sundown they raise the blinds to reveal the most amazing view which we enjoyed we some special deserts and coffee. You can't go wrong here!

Truly fine

By Grey C |

For a museum restaurant, this is a truly fine place to dine. We found the menu interesting, the execution excellent and the service prompt, friendly and helpful.

Great place to eat

By Kathy A |

The restaurant serves great food, although to some it might seem pricey. But the food is excellent. The fish was very fresh and delicious, and the Wellington is definitely worth a try.

3 places to eat listing as $ to $$$

By Ronald C |

Went into get something to drink and all drinks are $3.25 each for a 12 oz plastic cup that you have to leave with no refills, this was at the cafe with one $.

Cannot get better for a Museum restaurant

By Travelaround59 |

We had the most yummy meal today here. The Centre is amazing and the food and restaurant is perfectly in line in delivering the same experience. Lovely setting, lovely seating area, lovely view, friendly service. Our mains were very very good (chicken and scallops) and the chance to be able to drink Tattinger (1/2 bottle) at a reasonable price made our stop even more enjoyable. Other museums should take notes and inspiration.

Very enjoyable.

By John K |

Very comfortable. Excellent range of food and beverages. Coffee could be stronger. Large dining space, very well organised serving staff. Refreshing addition to a great museum.

Upper level !

By Bob S |

Rather pricey - staff friendly - great menu choices - great views - wait staff was great - love the food presentation ! Everything was fresh - Food was great ! Worth the experience!

Pricey restaurant with good food and great view

By DayTripperz75 |

This restaurant is really upmarket with gourmet food. Prices around $20 and up per dish. However it’s a really nice atmosphere and good quality food. Be prepared to wait during lunchtime as it’s one of the few places to eat at The Getty

Fabulous Lunch

By zztraveler |

When at the Getty Center this is a MUST. The restaurant is beautiful with stunning views and the food is delicious. We started with a bowl of the mushroom soup, and my husband had the Cobb salad and I had the wagu meatballs. We finished with a chocolate dessert and it was all delicious! The service was also outstanding.

A Must

By JULOfrVan |

Dining at least once at the Getty Center Restaurant is a must. Wonderful views, nice large dining room with good service, a varied menu to suit many palates. Dress can be for fine dining or casual. This was our 2nd visit & I enjoyed our dining experience very much. My food this time (Cobb salad) was very good but it was not the best ever Cobb salads I have had. My husband’s grilled octopus looked & tasted delicious. The last time we were here ( a few years ago) we had seared ahi tuna which was delicious. There is outdoor seating but given the cool May breezes we opted to dine inside.

Priceless View, Elegant Ambiance

By happytoousa |

Have the Brunch, Grab the Hose Wine Selection...then go tour the Center. The menu is small yet it featured enough options for lovely experience that I will cherish.

Happy we gave it a try

By cpayne59 |

What a happy surprise. We usually expect a mediocre experience at a museum restaurant, given the captive audience. This was a great experience. Peaceful atmosphere, professional service (Ismael), and good food (we only had soup and meal salads). Excellent wine list. We felt lucky given that reservations are supposedly highly recommended but we got a table in 5 minutes at 2;30pm.

Great formal restaurant at the Getty Center

By Eigerhike |

Be sure to reserve a table there when you visit Getty Center. Very nice menu. Great view. Perfect way to round out your day there. Gives you a rest so that you can spend more time at the museum. Reservation a must.

Small selection of cold sandwiches were surprisingly good

By MakananginBug |

While I was initially disappointed that they couldn't warm up my sandwich, I was pleasantly surprised that they open sandwich with pumpkin which I ordered tasted really good. It was a little more pricey but I guess that's to be expected in places like these. Maybe, the Foundation could consider subsidizing a little for the food. The Cafe was clean considering the amount of traffic that passed through that place. There was a outdoor terrace with tables and chairs where we could eat our food.

Beautiful, and reasonable prices for a museum resto.

By marcain |

You cannot beat the views and general surroundings. The food is tasty - not just hot dogs and such. And reasonable prices for a museum restaurant.

This is not Dorsia so the front of house are in the wrong restaurant

By Nick S |

No we hadn't made a reservation. Well why would I? The restaurant was 2/3 empty on a quiet Thursday afternoon and yet we were told that there might be a ten to 15 minute wait. I'm not exactly new to eating out and I asked poltely why it wasn't possible to seat us , even if they had reservations there was so much empty space that seating two would not create insurmountable challenge . We also asked if we could eat outside on the terrace, but we were told there was no service. Two minutes later an affected front of house conescended to give us a table. As we were being shown to our table, I asked whether it was a sensible policy to take this gatekeeper ,obstructive atritude when the place was so clearly half empty. I was accused of being aggressive in the most unpleasant way. We were shown to a table at the very far end, as if a punishment. 20 minutes into the meal the place was still half empty and my wife noticed people eating out on the terrace. We moved outside. Now don't get me wrong, this is a very good restaurant, with delicious food and wine and it's reasonably priced. It's probably thw best museum restaurant I have eaten in ,anywhere in the world! Add to that , our waitress was delightful , helpful and efficient. We had nearly walked away before we weee seated. Why do front of house behave so foolishly? Why treat well dressed guests with hauteur and disdain.? Their job is to welcome customers and not be obstructive ,difficult and rude. Whatever chips they have on their shoulders should be knocked off immediately as they are giving a bad name to a very good restaurant. They are also letting down the kitchen and waitstaff who are doing a very fine job!

Restaurant and museum

By lilianasmith |

I visited in September. Beautiful place. windows and floors are clean, dishes are mainly western style. I tried the octopus appetizer, and they were good, but the cheese plate was excellent. It is a good place to try and experience the food and the atmosphere. The prices are high.

Perfect cap to a museum visit

By Gilles B |

Museum restaurants are more often miss than hit but such is not the case for the Restaurant. The dishes were perfectly prepared with imaginative flavours The wine list good with generous serving by the glass and the service was excellent . Made our visit even better

Plenty of choices

By anaismalli |

There were plenty of choices for every taste. You can also admire the view while dining, it is not an upscale place, the prices are reasonable.

One of the best meals in LA

By chestpain |

The food is excellent. We had an incredible lunch with splendid service. They happened to have one of my favorite sparkling wines.

360 degree excellence

By Ed Bannister |

Reservations were easy to make. Greeting was warm relaxed and personal. View and the visuals within the restaurant are all beautiful and perfectly clean. Water glasses, linens, staff, ambiance all great for groups of 2 to 20 or so seen at one large table.. A special occasion, or date perfect. Staff is the perfection of manners, which end object is everyone is comfortable, they are professional, and able to adjust to the client.. i.e. not stuffy but offered perfect service. The food here has been wonderful every time... three of us shared, salad, ahi, beef. all prepared to optimum. It is a little expensive to eat here, but clearly not overpriced.. a great value for fine dining.

Overpriced

By matu64 |

Not much choice unless you want weak coffee and sandwhiches, pizza and salads. The choice is hampered by the cost. I was so overwhelmed by the cost of everything. Once we sat down, it was difficult to see where you cleared your plates, It was only afterwards I saw tables were cleared by staff. Avoid the coffee, not even espresso, Just a machine which offers blah coffee.

Who's Looking After the Food Preparation?

By tmbrod |

A small group of us went to the Getty Restaurant in a Saturday evening. The sunset view of course was spectacular. Service was a little slow, but we were enjoying ourselves. The bread was as spectacular as the view: rye-flavored sourdough, chewy and flavorful (and reportedly the dough is aged for 5 days which also reduces gluten content). The meals themselves were fair. It was like the food was thoughtfully planned and then carelessly executed. Easy example: the dry and barely chewable. Why wouldn't the chef be there looking after the preparation on a Saturday evening?

Food is forgettable

By PhDtraveler_11 |

The Getty Center is among my favorite places in the world. The food, however, is no better than airline meals. Bland and overpriced. The other high reviews must have been written largely by tourists distracted by the view. However, the view is great and service is good.

Disappointing.

By Nico558 |

Service was good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. We ordered two ceasar salads with chicken. The lettuce leaves were hard and tasted strange (did not look nor taste like romaine lettuce) although the little cubes of chicken were tender. We had to ask for more salad dressing as the salad was dry and had no Parmesan cheese. Disappointing.

Beautiful view, ok food but grumpy cook

By Rocky |

Large dinning area, surrounded by floor to ceiling glass windows, breath taking view of Los Angeles, food is ok. A lady in front of me patiently waiting to get her fries while the cook throwing things around - first slipped a plate to the counter, a customer help to hand back, no thank you, no eye contact, then he picked up the plate and tossed to presumedly a container under the counter that made a loud noise, he didn’t seem to notice, and then made his way to make a burger. That was a good 5 minutes before another cook/server from next station came and served the lady French fries she was waiting for.

Best. Food. Ever.

By MiKershaw77 |

Visited the Getty and ate here because it was raining outside. It was expensive but the food was absolutely marvelous. Save up your money and visit because it is worth it.

Excellent food, delightful setting

By r b |

Enjoyed our delicious lunch here while visiting the Getty Museum. Nice panoramic views added to our dining experience. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Magnificent

By Frank M |

The Getty is impressive enough & considering entry is free we had a few bucks spare to indulge ourselves. They get so many things right:- service, panoramic views, and fine gastronomic artistry. We made the right choice. The portions were also reasonable. Cooked, flavoured presented to perfection. Cauliflower soup - fine creation as were the tamales. The pork tender, lightly spiced & flavourful -only slight criticism - just too dry - made it a bit of a chore to finish. It needed a sauce but then the salad with it would not have worked -clearly an artistic dilemma for the chef. Mission is the perfect hefeweizen beer - wonderfully rich golden colour and tasted wonderful. There is also a very good selection of speciality teas. For a museum this is absolutely out of this world.

Good food but indifferent service and high prices

By Rebecca99Seattle |

I had reserved an outside table through Open Table. The host asked if I still wanted to sit outside and I said yes, so she took me to a table in full sun. When I asked to sit in the shade she told me it was the last open outdoor table. I sat ignored for 20 minutes. Eventually I flagged down a server and asked politely if I could move to a table in the shade which had been vacated. It took awhile for someone to come clear the table, but eventually my request was honored. I sat for another 10 minutes before someone finally came to take my order. I had the Cobb salad and a glass of wine. I chose an expensive glass of wine so that’s on me, but the least expensive glass of wine was only $4 less. The salad was expensive and small and it wasn’t a Cobb salad. No olives, no egg, but cranberries (?) what it did have going for it was lots of blue cheese, and all in all it tasted good. Thank goodness I didn’t get the $37 chicken. I didn’t feel like it was a good value for the money, especially since it took someone 30 minutes to bother taking my order, although several servers were helping customers all around me. The view from the terrace is to die for, though.

The choices are great

By Dean01 |

It is hard to choose from the options. The food was good although expensive. This is a good to take a break form the museum visit.

Beautiful setting but I should have gone to the cafe....

By DeeC |

Really beautiful setting but I think a very odd menu. Lunch was not a lunch menu - the only sandwich was a grilled cheese- I should have gone to the cafe! Overpriced and overrated in my opinion

World Class Museum with Over Priced Bad Food

By Aya J |

Need a world class chef and decent bar tender. The food is bad food you can get anywhere. Went to the Getty and decided to eat at the restaurant, because it Valentine’s Day. The restaurant would not allow reservations on-line or in person - only walk-in. Ok with us no problem. We ordered two drinks - one glass of red wine, which was really bad, second try another brand was just ok. I ordered a Long Island ice tea - really bad too much coke. Second drink, I changed to G&T (Hendricks) it was as an alcoholic’s dream - all gin. Reordered with instruction to add more tonic - same result. I felt bad for our waiter who was a gem. He apologized and said they had a new bar tender - really? I had the Duo scallops - interesting, but not great. My partner had Leek soup - not flavorful, but edible. Main course Barzino - a small size fillet- not what we expected. I had pasta with local mushrooms and a chicken breast. The pasta w/mushroom was favorable - best part of the meal, but the pasta was over cooked and chicken breast was over cooked and dry. I ate half of the pasta and a few bites of the chicken. I can chicken with feathers if it’s favorable-I Like chicken that much. But this really bad. Don’t waste your money here.

Mediocre at best

By Valderf |

The view from the restaurant is magnificent. Unfortunately, that where it finished. The reception area is a bit chaotic. It not bigger enough to accommodate a rush of guests. Food is very over priced and mediocre at best. I had the short rib which should have been called small rib. The mashed was just ok and the sprouts and other vegetables poor. Not worth the money, which is shame. We ate there 5 years ago and had the most magnificent meal that the family still talk about. What has gone wrong?

Decent food and variety

By J7308HMrichards |

The Cafe is nice and we ate outside. There is a good selection of food and drinks. The Getty center area is amazing and this is a nice place to stop and reflect on the beauty.

Nothing special

By Elizabeth S |

Prices moderate, food just okay. A variety of food from sandwiches to hot meals are available. Beer and wine is available for purchase.

EVERYONE at the Getty is SO NICE!

By Lisaeck |

We are a family that "museums" a lot - like really a lot. The food at the Getty if great and you can't beat that view! Yet, if any of the management is reading this - dang your staff is a class above everyone else - everyone we encountered at the Getty was SO NICE!!

Totally Worth It

By Hokiecoyote |

We ate here before going to a play at the Shakespeare Center and it was totally worth it. The atmosphere was very sophisticated but casual at the same time. We started with cocktails and had the charcuterie and cheese plate which did not disappoint with a healthy serving and variety of meets and cheeses. For our entree we decided to split the scallops which left room for dessert...a baked alaska to die for. Our waiter and wait staff were nothing but top notch. Highly recommended.

Good Food

By Randall4867 |

Great cafeteria style restaurant....many good options, well presented with speedy service....would recommend to anyone

Amazing food and view

By GlobetrotterNYC212 |

The food was phenomenal. Baked Brie was a touch small...and pannetone dessert was interesting but mostly just tasted like a pannetone from a box...other than that it was phenomenal. Sea bass was crisped and perfect....soup...apps...salad...all amazing. Will 100% return. Pricey....but worth it for the treat.

Perfect combination of good food and beautiful setting

By Sophie608 |

Decided not to rush around the Getty, but to choose a few select exhibits and have a leisurely lunch. The restaurant offers a stunning view with above average service and food. We share the burratta appetizer with excellent warm bread. The grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and frise lettuce was a stand out. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Atmosphere and Food

By ModernColumbus |

Its a lovely spot to unwind and enjoy the views after touring the museum. Well prepared food and nice ambience and a reasonable price.

Surprisingly average

By Jim N |

There are lots of different choices in the cafe. I was surprised that a lot of the meals were of average quality considering the venue. In my group of 15, the most liked item was the french fries!

Expected More at this price point

By Jim E |

Restaurant was recommended to the wife and I by our son, so we decided to visit for Sunday brunch, made a reservation and were seated right away, our waitress came over right away but did not introduce herself, and from there things went mostly downhill. Ordered the cantaloupe gazpacho, which was delicious, too bad the same can't be said for the rest of the meal. I ordered the short rib hash, and the poached egg and potatoes were overdone, wife ordered the eggs benedict and again the poached eggs were overdone. Had to flag down the server for water refills and on one trip he only filled one of the empty glasses despite having a full pitcher. Service and food were severely lacking for the price point that this restaurant is trying to serve, wife commented that she has had better eggs benedict at Spires. At $110 + Tip for brunch we expected a lot more.

What a Lunch

By BoboTravlr |

The restaurant at the Getty center is a real pleasure. I often say that I am going to the Getty for lunch and also to see some art. I had the pre fix menu with wine pairing and thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. Our server Louie was attentive and friendly and made our visit special.

Class and a great view

By richard m |

Visited on a lunch service. The quality of the food and setting is worthy of the Getty Centre. The view out a cross the city is only slightly better than the food which was exceptional

Lovely setting and delicious lunch

By DeborahandAndy |

After viewing the exhibits at the Getty Center, lunch at the restaurant is perfect for out of town guests. Great views, food and service. We enjoyed the fall toast of apples, brie, walnuts, fig and arugula. Tasty ancient grain risotto with Spanish and mushrooms. Delicious chicken cob salad and light autumn salads. Good service.

Good Eats for a Museum

They have a wide variety of foods at the cafe, something for everyone. Moderately priced for the exceptional quality.

Always good

We love to treat ourselves to lunch after visiting the museum, and it is always such a nice experience. The menu is amazing, there are so many tempting dishes to choose from. The staff is very professional and makes your stay memorable. Definitely recommend it.

Nice place to grab a quick bite

By Gabby92399 |

Although this cafeteria style cafe is a little pricey, the food is good. The food is fresh and the staff keep the tables and dining area clean.

Excellent food, Excellent service, Excellent Views

By BGivner |

The Getty is probably the wealthiest museum in the world. As a result, everything there is first class. The restaurant is no exception. I had carrot ginger soup. Superb. The bread they bring you to start the meal is excellent. The mocha coffee - excellent. The omelettes for brunch - excellent. The regular coffee - excellent. It is not inexpensive: $173 counting tip for 5 people. But the views are also magnificent. And it is a short walk to the beginning of the museum and the gift shop.

The view could have better

By Irene Eng |

Pleasant, straightforward, bit pricy. Food and service are above average. I’m expecting a killer view but disappointed by the balcony wall - see through fiber glass (?) might serve better? They’ve out door seating but isn’t open. Oh well. We’ve carrot cumin hummus, paella, chicken and scallops - the seafood cooked just right, juicy and tender. Parking $15.

Good for a cafeteria with great views

By njslattery |

Lots of food choices, hot and cold. What makes it great great is the view...lots of seating inside and out.

Average meal

By the_3_adventurers |

Nothing bad about it, but nothing stellar, either. Just an average museum cafe ... reminds me of eating at the Field Museum in Chicago or the Met in NYC or the NCMA in Raleigh. I stuck with the basics: chicken tenders with a side salad and an oatmeal cookie. A little pricey, but it fit in with my day spent at the Getty Center. I didn't have to leave the grounds, I didn't have to take out a loan, and I didn't have to eat a granola bar from my bag.

The Getty Center Restaurant was the best part of our visit to the Getty Center!

By Maryland0505 |

We didn't have a reservation but they had a table available for our party of five. The food was quite expensive but it was delicious. Our table was comfortable and would probably have had an amazing view if it wasn't raining. Despite being very busy, everything was served promptly. Our servers were fabulous noticing when we needed things.

Simple snack to kill your hunger when you absorb arts

By 786malgorzatac |

Pretty nice selection of snacks and coffee for those in need for a fast calories intake on a more healthy side (ok, this is not an organic caffee, just a nice cafeteria where they do not serve burgers, and apart from the cookies you can choose some green staff, too).

To Eat and a Little Art

By BoboTravlr |

We have to say that we enjoy this restaurant so much that we visit often to eat and then see some of the exhibits later or just sit in the garden. The setting is so nice and the service so attentive that we feel like we are on vacation in some other country.

Poor service and food

By kristins |

Was looking forward to a nice lunch at an amazing museum, but instead, we had very slow service, very disinterested wait staff and overpriced, mediocre food. Most disappointing was the wait staff!

Servicable

By Stephen L |

Nothing special but good enough to keep people fed. Indoor & outdoor seating. Loads of options - soups, salads, sandwiches, hot food etc

High-end museum restaurant

By higonnet |

Was pretty much what we expected: very civilized setting in an impressive setting and quality food just a touch pricey.

Very Good

By archman8 |

Food at the Cafe was fresh and fairly priced, with a wide selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers and hot meals.

No problem eating here!

By rduinc |

At a place like this, you always worry about the cost of the meal but at the Getty the meals are reasonable enough. There is a wide selection of food to choose from, served cafeteria style. We've eaten here several times and everything is very good, particularly the pho. And of course, while eating, you enjoy the views of the Getty Center and beyond!

Relaxing interval from all the art

By permia |

A large bright space looking onto the outside was perfect for lunch. A comprehensive selection of dishes and drinks was on offer. Moving along the counters we made our selections and enjoyed the pleasant ambiance.

Down on lower level !

By Bob S |

Great selection to choose from - staff friendly - fairly fast service - Food was hot and very good ! Nothing that cheap but museum is free so helps justify it ! Enjoy !

Very beautiful

By coleg230 |

A great place to bring your family and enjoy a nice meal and a view of the city of Los Angeles!!!!!!!

Excellent Location and View

By Geoffrey E |

If you're here for the museum, this is a good stop - it's a lovely room and the views are outstanding. The food is very good, but for $30 I'd want a better burger. The roasted potatoes that go with it are fantastic. The cocktails were tasty as well. The only real problem here was our server. The busboys were great, but Régis was inattentive and unconcerned about us. Location better than food better than server.

Ambiance and More

By jtzs |

A lovely place. The ambiance is all about the view and what a view it is! Absolutely the finest view of Los Angeles from anywhere. You can see from downtown to the ocean... on a clear day. Being there at sunset is a must. We got there early, enjoyed the gorgeous gardens and some of the amazing museum and then went to our reservation (a must). The food is good and well made, the options are a bit limited so check out the menu before you go. You need to park in the main parking structure ($15 before 3 Pm , I believe it is, and $13 after) then take the tram up the mountain and enjoy the view! If it’s raining you will get wet as there is no cover from the tram to where the Art museum building are or to the restaurants (they also have a cafeteria). What a lovely experience!

Outstanding Lunch

By LaBu |

Our lunch at the Getty Center Restaurant was the best meal we had during our four-day stay in Los Angeles. We both had the halibut, generously portioned, moist and succulent, surrounded by a variety of tasty vegetables. The restaurant is gorgeous, with high ceilings and window walls overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains.

Great Views and Food

By BoboTravlr |

The Getty Restaurant never disappoints. From the light, sun drenched dining room to the welcoming service and excellent dishes. We have gotten Louie a few times and have to say that he really makes the effort to make you really feel welcomed and cared for. He is efficient, attentive and makes just the right amount of pleasant chit chat. The chicken and scallops were very good while the baked Alaska, exceptionally refreshing and tasty.

experience perfection

By Frenchparkbeau |

After walking through one of the most incredible museum experiences, dining at the restaurant gave a nice closure to the afternoon. I don't usually order soup, but the sever made it sound so incredible I had to try....I was not disappointed....it was delicious! The octopus was the best I have had too. The whole experience was 4 star!!!

Romantic restaurant with a view

By Norwegiansunlovers |

We visited the Getty Center 6 years ago, and did not have a booking for the restaurant but managed to get a table for lunch. The experience was so enjoyable that when we came back to LA again in July 2018 we made sure to have a reservation for lunch on a Saturday visit. It was a clear day and we had a window table with fabulous view. The waiter was very attentive and we chose the soup of the day, which was a cold spicy soup with cucumber. As the entree I had scallops with potato gnocchi, pickled fennel and dill topped off with a caramel sauce. Delicious. I could recommend this place any time…

Top class food and service

By Ericgrounds |

My wife and I had several hours to use while on a layover in Los Angeles. We took an Uber to the Getty Center, having booked a table for lunch. As an aside, our Uber driver, William, from St Louis Missouri, was an incredible advertisement for good taxi drivers. He was hilarious, well informed and good company. We were served by the excellent Siso, who really understood the food and wine and knew precisely how to look after his customers. We had scallops, followed by cod - both perfectly cooked and probably as good as any that we have eaten anywhere in the World. It was accompanied by Cambria's Tepusquet Viognier, which proved to be a wonderful wine that amply suited the food. Lunch was the sandwich between two swift but detailed tours of the galleries. What a collection - mind boggling in its splendour and scope. Everyone should visit at some point in their lives. All in all, a superlative end to a three week holiday. And a special word of thanks to William the Uber driver and to Siso the supportive and well-informed waiter

Great view, okay food

The view is obviously stunning and the place itself tastefully decorated. The food is just okay, especially given the price, and the menu itself somewhat limited. Even the dish presentation could have been given more effort to make up for the meager quantity. The swordfish is okay but have had much better in smaller, less expensive seafood grills. The chicken dish was also mediocre. Good thing they have wine and a great view.

Delicious food in a beautiful venue

We ate at this restaurant the last time that we visited the Getty Center. It was so good that we reserved a table this time again. The restaurant did not disappoint. We had well-prepared cocktails, had a friendly server, and the branzino fish was wonderful. (How they got a crispy skin over a not-over cooked fish was beyond me!) The weather was so clear that we had a beautiful panoramic view. We consider a visit to the Getty Center a real treat--enjoyable art galleries in the morning and then a tasty lunch in the afternoon. Truly worthwhile visiting.

The café was closed so we went to the restaurant instead. The views were beautiful but the meal a bit pricey. Go to the café instead and get an outside table.

Enhances the Getty Centre Experience

We had a most enjoyable lunch at the Cafe, which contributed to our enjoyment of our visit to the Getty Centrer. We were slightly dubious as we entered the very large space that the meal might be "institutional cafeteria". We were pleasantly surprised that it was not! There was an extensive selection, grouped into several different types which reduced the lines at each. We had excellent fresh-cut sandwiches. The fillings were tasty and the bread fresh. The servers were friendly and efficient. The dining space is very large, but uncrowded and even the interior is light. While the view from the outdoor areas was superior, from inside tables one still had pleasant vistas of the surrounding hills. Lunch at the Cafe contributed to a great day at The Getty.
