Great place to eat with small group

By emilypS1911TX |

In town for weekend, needed a place for group of 7. Walking around, found Gino's. Sat us immediately, drinks and service were quick. Pizza was great, split 2 mediums thin crusts, with a shared salads. Liked the place, will recommend. PS... margarita pizza, ehh.

Yummy!

By Sabrina E |

Food was delicious as always. Miguel was THE BEST! Very friendly and attentive! A place I stop every time im in the city!!

The Brussel Sprouts Are Worth The Trip!

By rrburg |

This establishment is deservedly-renowned for their pizza. But night after night during my stay I feasted on the minestrone and a side order of carmelized brussel sprouts. They were both fabulous!

Amazing!!!

By AndyCull |

My wife and I were in Chicago for a conference and we were told by a Chi Town native to hit up Gino's East. As soon as we dropped our bags at the hotel we headed over. It was 11am (opening time) and there were already people waiting outside, so that was a good sign. Once we got in, we were seated fast, our server Caleb came up immediately and took drink orders. Having never been to Chi Town we didnt know their local beers so he picked them for us based on our tastes. His recommendations were spot on. We ordered a famous deep dish style and the small was more than enough for the two of us. Less is more when it came to toppings; Just pepperoni was amazing. The wait for the pizza is about 45mins, which is fine as it is literally like baking a pie, and the time flys by fast with a few drinks to be had. After we were stuffed, we asked Caleb about any local breweries in the area that he could recommend and he gave us a few names. What was even better was when he came back with the check, he had written down a list of them for us to visit. Awesome. Our visit to Gino's was amazing and Caleb's customer service is outstanding. Will definitely be back.

Still and always will be my favourite place

I come here quite a bit and pizza's are amazing ! Can't get enough of them - heads up to the waiter boy Jesse for the great service every time

Good Chicago style pizza

By poopadog2 |

We enjoyed our first Chicago style pizza. The waiter was not very friendly but did inform us the deep dish would take 45 minutes to an hour to fix.

Great Deep Dish Pizza

By we_out |

Husband and I shared a small and it was enough! We arrived around 9am and the place was packed. Only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Service was great and we waited about 40 minutes for the meat lovers pizza. It was delish! Nice selection of draft beer as well.

Amazing!

By KatieRyan09 |

We had an incredible dinner experience! Julio explained the menu, was quick with service, and the food was incredible! YEEEEEEEEEET

Great visit, traditional Chicago Deep Dish

By John S |

I ordered the deep dish but you can also get thin crust. 9” personal pie was plenty, if you are with some one, 12” would probably do fine. I am a pizza aficionado and will tell you this was really good pie. Sauce was not sweet so if your looking for that, go somewhere else. Only issue I had was the bar has 3 light poles that limit the bar seating a lot. That was a bummer but would still recommend. I like eating at the bar but there were plenty of tables.

Mmm. Pizza

By Charles89145 |

Classic Chicago deep dish pizza in a warm pub atmosphere. If you are pressed for time or just want to eat sooner, send one member of your party early to order the pizza. The deep dish takes about 45 minutes to prepare.

Mmmm pizza

By Amanda S |

St. Louis native trying chicago deep dish for the first time =awesome. Great pizza, friendly staff, quick service. Plus, atmosphere was very cool...kinda of a modern type tavern. Highly recommmend.

Subpar service

By CristellaMarie |

It took about 20 minutes to be acknowledged. We only stayed because we were so hungry and didn't have time to look for another place to eat before our Amtrak train out of town.

Delicious!

By NMinperthWA |

Luckily turned up early as a walk-up customers, as by the time we had finished the place was well and truly full. Thoroughly looked after by the staff, who made excellent recommendations for both Pizza and drinks. Food was delicious and very filling.

Expensive Rush

By kangachick |

Had dinner here as it was across the road from hotel. The pizza was expensive and apart from heaps of tomato sauce and crust there was not much of the supposed toppings. We had not even finished eating and the waiter bought our check, we had not asked for it. He then came back to pick up payment which we had not sorted as we were still eating and drinking. I felt rushed and got indigestion. Would not recommend. If you’re staying at Hotel Blake, find somewhere else to eat.

Not quite the same atmosphere as the location north of the loop

By jocomitchells |

We love to eat at Gino’s East when we visit Chicago. The pizza was delicious, as expected. This location has a much smaller dining room in a historic building so no graffiti allowed, according to our server. For a second visit, the South Loop location would be fine. But if I was brining someone to Gino’s East for the first time I would make sure to take them to the one north of the loop. Service was good.

Great pizza!!

By Carol0104 |

Sat outside, service was good, pizza was very tasty and atmosphere was lovely. Waiters were extremely pleasant.

Great Pizza & Service

By awesomeA1 |

I visited my hometown to celebrate my Bday. Couldn't leave w/o enjoying a delicious Gino's East Pizza, and they didn't disappoint! Our server was nice, but appeared to be spread a little thin w/ server & bartending duties. I'll definitely visit this location again!

A Superb Meal at Gino’s East

By CarpeDiem0212 |

My wife and I went on a long walk to the Navy Pier, Grant Park and Millennium Park to take in some of our favorite Chicago sights. Along the way, we decided to check out one of our favorite pizza restaurants – Gino’s East. We sat outside at one of their outdoor tables. We had their thin crust Supreme Pizza and it was out of this world. All the toppings and sauce were superb! Our server was not very attentive, but the food was phenomenal! We highly recommend their pizza over any other restaurant in Chicago.

Good Meal

By Patrick M |

Relaxed place to hang out, enjoy a beer, watch a game, and eat some deep-dish pizza. Good selection of beers and a friendly but not overbearing bartender made the 45-minute wait no problem (they tell you when you order, so it's not a surprise). The small pizza is four slices and way too much for one meal, but it's so good and leftovers make for a nice snack later. Really nice way to unwind after a busy day at a conference.

Ok but recommend you go to the original Gino's East

By Barbara8211 |

Went for late night pizza after a play. This location was close t our hotel. Nothing memorable, nothing horrible (except being ignored when we arrived and waited a long time to be sat). Waiter new and could not answer most questions. Service was fine, food was fine, nothing exceptional. I grew up in Chicago in the 60's and this place cannot compare to the original Gino's. Suggest you go to the location in the north end of the city.

Closed way too earlie

By Nathan C |

Staying in Chicago as a first stop of a 3 week America tour of which online recommends Ginos east!!! However other locals and restaurants tried to sway us to go to lou malnatis. This we did not take notice and decided to do ginos...... very disappointed! As we arrived at 8pm they said they were closed and recommended another restaurant. They were very rude and nothing like there reviews. Avoid

Yum! Not as crowded as other locations!

By wheels3993 |

I hate to admit it, but the pizza's so good we came here twice in 2 days. The first day we came at lunch and sat in a half empty restaurant, the second day we came at dinner. There are only a few tables that can sit larger groups so we had a wait of about an hour (which is less wait time than I've had at other locations). Food, drink, and service are great.

Always Great

By WarwickTraveler29 |

I’ve been a Gino’s fan since 1982. Enough said. Just go and enjoy a deep dish pizza and some wine or beer. They go well together and this restaurant has maintained quality and deliciousness throughout the years. I love this place.

Deep Dish and Italian Beef - yum!

By Liz C |

Food was fantastic. Service was slow but friendly. We were there late afternoon - prior to dinner rush. We had deep dish, italian beef and sausage combo, cheese sticks, spinach sticks, breadsticks, caesar salad. All delicious! Zero complaints about the food!

Grandma fell

By David B |

Consistent food and service. Grandma fell on the way in and the staff went above and beyond to comfort her and make the experience minimally embarrassing. Manager Mason in particular was outstanding!

My first Chicago deep dish pizza. Great!

By Brian S |

I am an east coast pizza guy, thin and crispy. I had never tried a true Chicago deep dish, and wasn’t too optimistic, but had to give it a try. Gino’s was recommended as “the best.” And the ratings were spot on. The corn meal crust was so unique and fabulous. Great sauce and taste. Maybe will make me a convert. Still can’t get a handle on waiting 45 minutes for one to cook, however.

Convenient to the Blake Hotel

By 123Freckles |

We were staying at the Blake Hotel and this restaurant is right across the street. We had a Roni Supreme pizza that was pretty good. We had one of their Happy Hour beers - Witte Chicks - $3.00 each, that also was good. It's a nice restaurant with a nice bar area. Will probably eat here again on our next visit to the Blake.

Good!

By Bob M |

Our food tour started here with deep dish pizza. It was delicious and nicely served. REstrooms were clean and staff friendly. (In fact, this persuaded us to go to their sister establishment in E Superior street -- terrible decision!)

Our favorite pizza Gino's!

By buzzy-10 |

Haven't been to Chicago in 36 years and first pizza had to be Gino's East. Still a great pizza with the best crust and sauce. Waiter was good, not a lot of table in this Gino's location but we had a good experience in spite of a lot of bad reviews.

Can be a cheep lunch

By PeaceFoodandaSnorkel |

We were at Ginos when it opened one lunch and for $7.25 had their small individual pizza, a salad, and soft drink. The pizza was great and we didn't have to wait too long, presumably the smaller size being quicker to cook. I'd like to try one of the bigger ones but for someone who wants to try deep pan and wants a cheep lunch this was very good.

Awesomeness

By Michwlv |

Took the family and decide to avoid the tourist "pizza" chain and it up Gino's. The food was amazing, the selection of beers on draft was vast, and the service from Rita was the best in Chicago. Tried both the deep dish and thin crust pizza, the thin crust was amazing and if your a fan of Chicago style deep dish, you won't find any better.

We Keep Going Back

By strixmania |

The deep dish pizza is great and worth the wait. My wife is not a thick crust fan, but she likes this one. It was our second time in Chicago and our second time at Gino’s. I guess that says a lot considering the options available. My only suggestion is to avoid it during the rush. It gets really busy.

Excellent pizza that is unique to Chicago

By Belgo96 |

We ate the Margherita deep dish pizza here which is topped with a blend of cheeses, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil. We were in really early for lunch so it wasn't busy yet and we didn't have too wait long. Gone are the days that the deep dish pizzas take 45 minutes...they take a lot less time now that some of the places have new super dooper ovens installed. The deep dish is so unique to Chicago and it is really like a pie rather than a European style pizza. The crust here was good. I think you would wait a lot longer over the busy lunch or dinner time for service.

Fast pizza isn’t good pizza! Enjoy a beer and wait for perfection.

By Ingram-Stahl |

Great beer, pizza and service! It was a trifecta of happiness. We were there late afternoon and, of course, got a table quickly. There were several other diners but we were quickly greeted by our server, Sydney, who brought us a delicious pitcher of Hefeweizen. We ordered 2 small pan pizzas skipping an appetizer as we wanted to be hungry for the main course. Sydney did advise us it would take about 45 minutes for the pizzas but were not in a hurry! We sat enjoying our beer and when the pizzas came we were very happy! Cooked perfectly and nothing to complain about. Sydney again was very gracious and honestly she needs a raise as she was taking care of the entire restaurant until another server arrived.

Deep dish pizza and great apps

By Mandi L |

Wide variety on the menu. Pizza takes 45-1 hr to cook, so get the artichoke dip app. It was awesome. Ask for pita bread instead of chips, yummy. Local and craft beers.

LOVE THIS PIZZA

By riceburnergrace |

I tried out several famous pizza joints on my trip here and Gino's was by far my favorite. It was absolutely fantastic. The staff was awesome. My only gripe - no single serving pizzas. I was alone and had to order a 9" pizza. : (

This Gino's location has great homemade spinach mozzarella sticks that comes with marinara sauce. They were full of melted cheese and also spinach in every bite. We also ordered a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza with pepperoni and double mushrooms, even though the mushrooms didn't seem to be doubled the pizza was very delicious and full of flavor. Next time if you charge $2.95 for extra mushrooms please put them on the pizza.

Good, but...

By ekerwin |

...not as good as the original restaurant. Gino’s East is a regular stop for us and the pizza this time seemed especially thin. It was good, but not great like it’s been at other locations.

The best pizza for less

By Paul B |

Across the street from Blake Hotel. Prices very reasonable, portions were large and food was excellent. Waitress was so very helpful in portion selection.

be prepared to wait an hour for your pizza

By Michelle |

I knew well before hand that we had to wait an hour for the pizza. It was fine with me as i know that these are freshly made and to order. There were only 2 wait staff on duty that day and the majority of it was handled by this one male server, who also waited on our table. Felt a little bad for him as he was so busy, running around refilling drinks, taking orders, and handling huge groups all at the same time. He did great though and the food was good. I recommend coming here for good chicago pizzas!

A cozy place with great service and friendly staff

By MNice |

After a day with extra innings at Guaranteed Field we were starved. One of the hottest days in April at the park in the 80s and it was time for cold beers and Pizza. As we came into the restaurant we wished we would have had the sense to turn around and leave as it was much hotter inside than it was outside. But, hunger took over and we headed for a table. We ordered a couple of Michelob Ultras and wings to start us off while we waited for our deep dish pizza to be ready. The beers arrived slightly cooler than room temperature and the frosty glasses we were promised came a bit later, and warm. When I asked the bartender about the status of the wings, he said the kitchen was overwhelmed, but the place was less than half full. The wings took a long time and we didn’t finish them much before the pizza arrived. The wings and pizza were good. The bartender was really hustling as it got busier, but we flagged him down and explained that we just wanted to get out of there because it was just so darn hot to which he replied that he was very hot too. It wasn’t clear if there actually is air conditioning here or even fans, but we wanted to be gone. Not sure what to make of all this, but I think we will wait until winter to visit again.

Chicago Pizza…

By James P |

The pizza is pretty much the best in Chicago! Service was great… Miguel was an excellent and friendly server! Definitely worth it!

Delicious food, great service.

By J K |

The food was really delicious, but the volume was too much for us! The cheesecake was the best I’ve ever tasted, and Anna who served us was really lovely and super helpful. They very kindly gifted us the cheesecake to celebrate my birthday. Really recommend this place!

Great pizza

By Crystalcake |

The spinach artichoke pizza is my absolute favorite. A close second would be their house made mozzarella sticks. I sat at the bar and received excellent service. The atmosphere is fun and the staff is welcoming.

the best Chicago pizza

By Holly C |

This pizza had a cornmeal crust and was piled high with a sauce made of San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. It was fantastic!

Good Food

By PLB1908 |

When we first arrived the service was lackluster at best, but once we spoke to the manager they quickly resolved our concern and even gave us an appetizer for our troubles. The deep dish pizza was phenomenal and even the chicken tenders my son had were tasty. A little trivia, this restaurant is where the old Michael Jordan Restaurant was and they still have his logo on the tiles in the entry way.

Favorite Deep Dish

By Tsample7 |

Still my favorite deep dish pizza in Chicago or anywhere for that matter. Great service and reasonable prices make the experience even better. Will always return back here when in the area.

First Authentic Chicago Deep Dish!

By Tony S. |

Went to Gino's for my first authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. Prior to that the only Chicago deep dish I have had was Unos chain restaurants. My expectation was that it would be much better than Unos and boy was I right! Tender crust, dense but lighter than Unos, super fresh sauce and cheese, and great toppings - loved the sausage. It took about an hour to cook, but it was well worth the wait!

Deep pie pizza but different

By Maybebaby |

I had already sampled a deep pan Chicago pizza at Piquod’s and had been suitably impressed. So when I found myself downtown and in need of lunch I called into Gino’s East. We ordered a small Chicago Fire while one of my sons had the spaghetti marinara. As the pizza takes around 45 minutes to prepare we also had the Mozzarella sticks as a starter. The starter was fine while the pizza proved that there are many different styles of Chicago Pizza. The offering from Gino’s is much more of a pie, with a pastry crust (rather than just being based on a bread base) and the cheese and meat is layered up with the tomato on top. It was nicely spicy and a small pizza was more than enough for two hungry adult males. So worth a visit and you need to get used to the fact that Chicago pizza is not fast food as the deeper filling means it takes more cooking time.

Deep dish!

By Brothercane |

I enjoyed the craft beer, the salad, and the service was excellent but the deep dish pizza is the some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s definitely worth a trip here!

Great pizza and service

By MichaelKohn1 |

Just happened to come in during an "off" hour; was alone so I sat at the bar. Surrounded by sports on tv which was great. Had great service--beer and pizza. What else do I need? Pizza (deep dish) came super fast and was absolutely perfect.

Exceeded Our Expectations

By Andrea D |

Partner was attending a trade show and I tag along to sample food. We ended up staying (quite happily) at The Blake across the street from this place. OMG, the deep dish pizza and ambience blew us away. Lovely wine list! The staff were also great and kept us comfortable. All in all, ask your hotel or meets-on-the-streets where they dine locally. It wasn't that we didn't want to hit the Chicago top -10 it was more about taxis and not being able to walk it. We had a great time in the city, we will be back and these places stole our hearts!!!!

Zucchini pesto spaghetti

By Mae B |

This was a terrific dish. Loved the pesto and veggies and added chicken to the dish to boost the protein level. My plate caught the eye of other patrons and I happily recommended it to others. Feeling kind I had a great meal the next night my husband and I tried the pizza -it takes a special pallets o guess - I am not a fan of a buttery pizza crust - I am a Native NYer - that's real pizza to me. Service was good -prices reasonable.

Great Deep Dish

By Lyn S |

Great service, sat at the bar, wanted to get the deep dish and it was great. We got a small and had lunch on it the next day, Only thing, the lights could have been a little dimmer. Just me.

Very good

By AmyYas |

We went for lunch on a Thursday. It was not crowded at all. We had buffalo wings and an Italian sun with fries. We are very particular about chicken wings and they were good. All food was good and fresh. Very nice and good service. Would recommend and would go back.

Great pizza but those mozzarella sticks!

By NYCleveland |

A vegetarian will have lots of options at this deep dish mainstay. The simple cheese pizza is a must have. But the mozzarella sticks are the real wonder: they're crisply but tenderly fried, with a wet cheese that sends the flavor over the top. The staff was friendly too.

Deep dish was great

By 307leven |

We ate there the last week of April 2022 and found the deep dish pizza to be delicious. Even the crust was very good. The waitress and service was excellent, but she told us the pizza takes about 45 minutes to prepare, so you can't be in a hurry. This is why we ate the salad which was very fresh and good. We ate the 9 inch deep dish with mushrooms and pepperoni and with the salad, we were both stuffed.

YUM

By thetopfs |

Lovvvved this pizza!! My husband is feom this area but I'm from Arkansas. We came to visit and finally got to try real Chicago pizza :) so yummy. The staff was very friendly.

Delicious pizza, not as busy as the Superior St Location

By jknd02 |

Was visiting Chicago with friends. We visited the South Loop location which was an easy walk from the Hampton Majestic Hotel - it was a Saturday night and we were worried that we would have to wait but this location is not nearly as busy as the other downtown locations. Pizza was just as good though! Several also ordered other than pizza and were pleased with their entrees. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. The local beer selection was excellent!

Chicago deep, need to be more flavorful

By eyesdoit |

Had expectations, buttery crust flavorful sauce, nope. Crust soggy, sausage and sauce bland. Tasted better next day, dissapointing

Great Neighborhood Italian Restaurant

By KatieDalyMinnesota |

If you are looking for a neighborhood italian restaurant with great deep dish pizza, this is your place! The service was friendly and attentive. The pizza was delicious without all the fanfare of the pizza tourist traps. The atmosphere is comfortable and down-to-earth with a nice mix of couples, families, and large groups. We split an anti-pasto salad, which was delicious and plenty for two. The deep dish was good enough to impress my New York City pizza snob partner. I would definitely go back and recommend.

Expensive but good

By Nofrillstraveler |

The pizza is much better than the other deep-dish chain restaurant in Chicago. Like anything in Chicago though, it is a bit expensive. Great customer service.

Deep dish heaven

By chijourno |

I had not had a good experience with Chicago pizza, till this amazing place took sauce and cheese with cripsy yellow crust and made me a believer.

Great deep dish pizza, great service

By Steve H |

Went to Gino's East for my first 'proper' deep dish pizza, and it was great. My wife and I wanted different pizzas, so we're both going for a small one, but the waitress said that one small was more than enough for both of us (and she was right!) so we should have a half & half (not listed as an option on the menu, so just ask!). The pizza was excellent & we wouldn't hesitate to go again. The pizzas are made fresh, so took about an hour from ordering, but you could taste that freshness - it was excellent. Otherwise service was great, very friendly, and a good range of beers & appetizers - it's well worth a visit!

Even the salads looked good

By nypdliz |

I had to try a deep dish pizza before leaving Chicago so we settled on this place. It turned out to be a great choice. Wine was good, decor was nice, pizza was delicious, apps were also great. People at my table ordered salads and even those looked great. There was SO much food, the pizzas are huge. So make sure you're hungry!

Expensive but good

By Nofrillstraveler |

The pizza is much better than the other deep-dish chain restaurant in Chicago. Like anything in Chicago though, it is a bit expensive. Great customer service.

Great salad; disappointing deep dish pizza.

By dfb260 |

The service, salad and spinach / artichoke dip were very good; however, we were both very disappointed in what was suppose to be a deep dish, supreme pizza. It seemed to be cheese, sauce and little else. There was little or no identifiable meat, pepperoni, etc.

Skip this pizza joint

By adbdcd |

We got a meat deep dish pizza and loaded nachos. The pizza had a unique flavor for the sauce, which all four of us didn’t care for. This was the most expensive meal we ate while in Chicago, which is a bummer since we weren’t happy with the pizza. The crust was soggy in the middle and the meat tasted processed instead of fresh. I’d say skip this pizza place and try another one.

Good!

By ChiTown Foxylady |

We prefer Lou Malnati's, but Gino's was a good 2nd. Tried a couple of appetizers, and they were pretty good. The brussel sprouts app was AMAZING!

Good pizza!

By Jennifer D |

First stop after arriving to Chicago just after lunch. Good pizza. Mozzarella sticks we’re phenomenal!!! Nice atmosphere.

Great place for food, especially DEEP PAN PIZZA!

By Mr D |

I visited twice whilst in Chicago, First was lunchtime, great service, we had large tasty salads and crispy chicken tenders. Second visit was for the classic deep pan Pizza. It did not disappoint, full of flavour, delicious sauce, tonnes of cheese and a fantastic crust! Served with a good range of beer by friendly staff it was a perfect experience!

Best pizza ever!

By Kim S |

This is the best pizza you will ever find. I’m from the Minneapolis area and have to come to Gino’s East every time I come to Chicago. The crust is absolutely delicious. The only deep dish pizza I will eat.

Good Chicago pizza

By Irene K |

Stopped in for lunch. The pizza was a good chicago style pizza. The flavor was great, worth the try. Would recommend.

The hostess was great! Service was Okay1

By Tony P |

Pros - Hostess was great. Thanks Jenna. Cons- Pizza takes an hour from ordering and they will not take pre-orders or call aheads. So plan to sit at your empty table for an hour before eating. Our server was not great and the dessert we ordered was terrible. We couldn't even eat it. Not sure we will be back.

worth the wait (weight)

By Roger F |

Maybe the best pizza I have ever had. Thought I had deep dish pizza untilIate here. Plan on a wait. The pizza takes 45 minutes plus to cook. A medium meat supreme is $30 and should feed 3 more or less. Despite the cost and the wait I'm going back.

Authentic Chicago deep dish

By Ogutarts |

Come there hungry, that's all i can say. The pizza will satisfy your biggest animallistic cravings for cheese, meat and all the good stuff.

Excellent meal!

By Sea-Trout-man |

We visited this restaurant after I researched places to visit in Chicago prior to going on our holiday. It was said that it had Deep Pan Pizzas like nowhere else. We certainly hit that and it was just lovely. The atmosphere was great and the setting was good too with all sorts of old memrobilia. Would definitely recommend eating here so make sure you turn up with an empty stomach as it won't be long until it is absolutely full again. A great experience without doubt.

Be Ready To Sweat

By Darryl G |

The restaurant had all of the doors to the street open but inside it was still extremely hot on an 80 degree F day. The chicken tenders were clearly cooked from a frozen bag/box and were tasteless. The french fries that came with them were okay though. A bottle of beer we ordered was not very cold. The deep dish pizza was expensive, $30 for a four slice nine-inch pie with three toppings. It was decent but not worth the money. However, the $10 salad was very fresh and very good.

I LOVE THIS PIZZA!

By alzari |

My wife, who does NOT like pizza, LOVES GINO's! We had a 9 inch pizza which was more than enough for two people. We had the pepperoni and sausage and it is without a doubt, the BEST PIZZA on EARTH!!!

AWESOME

By Julian W |

Everything was AWESOME.. Miguel was EXCELLENT!!’n. He exceeded expectations. Outstanding service and a great meal.. I will definitely be back!!!

Good Pizza Good Beer Selection

By leroys73 |

Our waitress was very knowledgeable of beer is the reason for a 4 instead of a 3. She asked what kind of beer I like. I told her Munich Oktoberfest Hofbrau or Shiner Bock (Texas beer). She knew exactly what local beer would satisfy my taste buds. After the pizza was served we were lacking in service but the knowledge of beer pushed my rating up to a 4 instead of a 3.

Caleb was great!

By Crystalcake |

I went in last night for a cocktail and some pasta as I was staying at the hotel across the street. The bartenders and servers were visibly busy, yet we got lots of smiles and "how are you." We immediately felt welcome. Our bartender, Caleb, was incredibly attentive and friendly. I'm actually considering going back tonight to try the pizza. Food was great, but service was incredible!

Gotta have Chicago-style pizza? Go here first.

By Whitney M |

We went here instead of the original one downtown which has excessive wait times. The food was exceptional, and well-priced for Chicago. We split a meaty one (large) which was good for my boys, ages 14 and 10. We even had a piece to spare which we sadly didn't want to carry around with us.

Great pizza place in Chicago

By John H |

We stumbled upon Gino's when looking for supper and were glad we did. Great Chicago pizza joint with lots of types of food in addition to pizza choices. Plenty of local beer types if you'd like and great atmosphere.

Buffalo Wings were great

By Myssn B |

The buffalo wings were meaty and delicious. It came with thin fries. The deep dish pizza was ok to good. Not great. Ours was actually burned at the bottom. We didnt make an issue of it, but it was certainly a slight issue on some bites and taste. The waiter was great, and attentive. He would bring us exactly what we need, without even asking. The atmosphere was nice and the wall windows made it feel very Chicago. I would certainly come back for the wings, but maybe not the pizza. I think I rather try a thin crust next time.

Ordered chili and chicken

By Nancysmith65 |

Ordered chili and chicken salad from menu they didn’t have either!! Robin, our server was great and very apologetic. She wasn’t notified they didn’t have the things on menu. The side salad was good The Italian sausage sandwich was very good. Manager comped extra bread sticks for being out of menu items. Overall, weren’t in the mood for pizza and the menu was focused on pizza or tomato based items.

Good Chicago Pizza!

By jmjohnson_13 |

Came in for a late lunch. We ordered a thin crust create your own pizza and it was delicious. Perfect seasoning, light on the sauce, generous with the toppings. Would not hesitate to return here and maybe try the salad and the deep dish pizza!

Ugh! I had better frozen Gino’s East Pizza!

By Paul W |

Okay..we come to Chicago every December to shop, eat and drink. We consistently hit Gino’s, Berghoff and Tratorria #10. We LOVE ginos pizza! Yeah, except this time. Normally they warn you that a deep dish takes 45 minutes, and....we got our pizza in 15 minutes. And. It. Showed. Crust. Burned flavorless Crap. Cheese. Rubbery and fake. Sausage. Wow! Did you start grinding old goat into the sausage now? Terrible pizza! We are Gino’s east super fans and seriously, I had better pizza from the Gino’s East frozen pizza offering from the grocery store. Hoping this was just a bad night or new cook at Gino’s South Loop but this experience will change our Chicago trip routine. Next time we’re trying Lou Malnati’s or something else and giving Gino’s South Loop a “try again in a couple years” stop. Truly sad...we were such Gino’s fans for 10+ years

Fantastic Pizza and Service

Had to do the Deep Dish in Chicago. Our server was excellent. He let us know how long the pizza would take ahead of time which many places would not do. The pizza was excellent and their beer selection was OK. I would definitely return here.

Oh, How I Miss My Chicago Style Pizza!

By RVIDI |

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Blake for a few days. I always check out the surroundings prior to our visits. I was excited to see there was a Gino's East right across the street! We ordered a Chicago style pizza for dinner one night. I walked across the street to get it and bring it back to the room. Heaven. What else can I say? If you are not familiar with Chicago style pizza, you are in for a treat. It is basically a stuffed crust pizza but the crust is soooo buttery. The sausage is one continuous layer across the entire pie. Like cheese? There is always a generous layer of cheese. The pizza was great. The help, not so much. No one seemed overly excited to wait on me. Disappointing, but I was taking the pizza back to the hotel anyway. I hope I just caught them on an off day. One word of caution. If you are ordering a Chicago style pizza, please have patience. They take longer to make than a normal pizza. Oh, but the wait is well worth it!

HOT ... not talking about the food or the service

By tallgal8 |

Party of 8 on a Thursday nite; approx 5pm ... 1/2 hr wait for a table. A/C was out but overhead duct dripped on us thru entire meal. Had to track down waiter for refills on drinks; napkins & also to pay bill. When your A/C is out; it would be good PR to be sure your hot customers have adequate refreshments. 3 hostesses at front counter; they couldn't be bothered to help in any way. Food was ok (be prepared to wait approx 1 hr for largest deep dish pizza). One pizza had burnt crust. Nothing special ... will not return.

Always Great!

I Love Gino's. I come to Chicago all the time and I never leave without stopping by. The staff is very welcoming and I like the atmosphere , chill and relaxed

Arrived at 4 pm to eat and it took over 2.5 hrs... got order wrong

By Chrissy S |

My family wanted pizza so we thought we'd eat at Ginos. We arrived at 4 pm and ordered 3 pizzas. My sons pizza arrived and was wrong. It was not what he ordered. He ordered a "make your own" pizza with buffalo chicken and bacon. What arrived was wrong. They said they would remake it but it took forever to get the remake. The manager actually came out and said it would be like 10 min more because they had so many orders already. It sounds like they didn't rush his even though they messed up. We were all finished eating and had to wait like 30 min more to get his food. He was not happy, neither was I. We got there early to beat the rush and it shouldn't take over 2 hrs to get our pizza. We were really looking forward to some Chicago pizza and it ruined our evening since we had hoped to go out after but it was too late for what we wanted to do. Very disappointed.

Our choice for Chicago pizza

By Claudette C |

This was our choice to try Chicago style pizza. The wait was less than we were quoted which was great and were able to order our deep dish pizza ahead and that was also great. That was the highlight of our service experience. The remainder was sub par. Our waitress was friendly enough but service was slow, lots of time to get drinks, salad and the pizza we pre ordered took almost an hour to arrive. It appeared to be cold. The very good rating is directly related to the quality of the food. That pizza was amazing! Generous servings of the meat and cheese yet it was the sauce that stole the show. This easily would be a solid 5 stars if the service was better. An hour wait for a pizza does not cut it.

Poor pizza - doughy base, limited topping

By yss97 |

Had the lunch time special which was a personal sized pizza with complimentary salad and fountain drink. Unfortunately, the pizza was very disappointing. The crust was thick and hard, and the pizza topping was very thin. As it was a lunchtime special, there was only a choice of 3 toppings. I asked for pepperoni but there was only 1-2 small slices of pepperoni present. Salad was ok. Would not return.

Perfect way to end the day.

By Annette S |

Fabulous food, fabulous service, great location. After a day of sightseeing, it was a great way to end the day. Highly recommended.

WORST service in all Chicago

By Missy K |

Sat at dirty table, water service took 20 minutes, we were thirsty, told manager, he brought water. Floors sticky and dirty. Elsa waitress very slow and lazy! Food under average for pizza place in Chicago! Charged 10 more so be sure to check your ticket youre signing! Mine was wrong...manager did nothing about it!

Heaven

By H3843DSfrankm |

Ate here 3 times during a 5-day trip to Chicago, and the deep dish pizza was consistently fantastic... complemented by a warm atmosphere and friendly service. I enjoyed the cheese pizza the most, but the margherita and buffalo chicken were delicious, too. Looking forward to my next trip to Chicago and Gino's East

Short Changing Custumers As policy

By Warnchev |

Eat there tonight, the meal was ok but when I paid the bill our server didn't give me the change. It was only. .23 cents but when I asked about it I was told she always keeps the change it not a big deal. Really not a big deal short changing customers seems to be a common occurrence. I tip 20% every where I go but I don't appreciate my server assuming shorting customers is " NO BIG DEAL". Go if you want but that's the last time I step foot in a Gino's but then again it NO BIG DEAL.

Best deep dish crust around

By Hik3r |

We arrived in town for a weekend trip, and went straight here to start our trip off right with some deep dish pizza. Gino’s East crust is absolutely amazing, fluffy and flaky. We also had the breadsticks as an appetizer to tide us over during the 45 minute wait for the pie. The service was great, and definitely get the spicy ranch sauce for everything. When they tell you a small is enough for two to share, it’s true. Four stars is only because the A/C was broken during a pretty intense heat wave in the city, making the last 30 minutes or so we were there pretty uncomfortable.

Our favorite Chicago deep dish pizza in a cool Printers Row Loft

By DavidaA8744CK |

There is much debate about deep dish pizza, and the unique corn meal crust makes this our long time favorite. The GREAT service, faster ovens (20 - 25 mins VS 45 -55 mins in the past) make this unique loft space eatery a winner.

Ultimate Chicago Pizza

By Patrick M |

To me, this is the essential Chicago deep dish pizza. A ton of great ingredients available, tasty crispy crust, and a delicious sauce. Friendly service and a solid beer selection. Be aware that it takes about 40 minutes for them to bake your pizza, so sit back and enjoy a drink while watching a game on the screens!

Interesting place - special pizza

By gunnarth2016 |

We had a couple of the thick Chicago type pizzas - maybe hotter than expected, but quite good. The salads were also satisfactory at that price level.

Pizza is my favorite

By LMO66 |

Atmosphere was good, salad was fresh, Troublemaker wine went well with the pizza and best of all the pizza was done perfectly

Great place!

By Dreamer12717809386 |

Came on a Friday night and thought we would be waiting forever, however service was super quick, the pizza was great and we had wonderful service from Amy!

Excellent

By James Harvey |

Visiting from England it was a tough decision which place to pick that wasn’t a tourist trap, after asking a few locals we picked Ginos, we are so glad we did! Firstly the staff are outstanding, the black guy who was the main server was so hard working, helpful and just a nice guy. The food. I’ve never seen chicken wings so big! They are so juicy and up there with the best I’ve ever tasted. Now the deep dish, omg, we’ve never tasted anything like this, simply awesome, the Chicago fire was fire! 10/10

Ok Chicago Pizza

By JClay1967 |

I had eaten at the original Gino's several years ago and so when my wife and I returned to Chicago and wanted some great Chicago style pizza we decided to give this location a try after another highly rated pizza place was just too booked. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was excellent. However, the pizza was just ok. Nothing like what I had experienced several years before with I went to the original Ginos. If you are looking for the BEST Chicago style pizza, look elsewhere. If you just want some pizza and want to watch the game quickly. Stop on in, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome atmosphere!

By travelmomteacherwife |

When looking for the best Chicago deep dish, it's probably a toss up between Gino's and Giordano's. In my opinion, Gino's atmosphere is better but Giordano's pizza has a slight edge.

Amazing pizza

By Emily R |

My first Chicago deep dish pizza experience and it surpassed all expectations! Loved the ambiance and had great service. A small pizza and an appetizer was the perfect meal to share between a couple and we left stuffed and happy!

I drank and ate for two days with peace of mind.

By Momo W |

Comfortable restaurant at the table or at the bar counter by yourself without any pretensions. I went there for two days because it was right in front of the hotel where I stayed. The aim is to put something in your stomach while drinking, rather than just for eating. Local beers, as well as those from other regions, are available in draft. Food. On the first day, we sat down at a table and added chicken with a selection of local draft beer and a few salads that seemed to contain a lot of rucola. The vegetables in it were delicious, though not super fresh or super delicious. The crispy texture of the chicken is eased by the dressing. On the other hand, the dressing tastes strong, so you might want to get it separately. The second day was at the bar counter, with a different local draft beer from the previous day, and grilled Brussels sprouts. Garlic is good and great for ate. Bacon They are grilled together, so it may be hard for people who don't like fat, but they go really well with beer. Both Kelly on the floor and Jose D, the bartender, had warm service. I recommend it.

Great Chicago Style Pizza

By Greg P |

We stopped while in town because we had eaten at the downtown location before and loved the pizza. Some people had left bad reviews about the service, but ours was exceptional. So was the pizza.

Good eats

By rockholddelvin |

Service was great. Pizza was a traditional Chicago Style Deep dish. It was wonderful in all ways. The crust was perfect and the sauce was wonderful. We also had the Spinach Artichoke dip and it was made in house and absolutely to die for. My GF loves dio and this was by far her favorite. In fact she wanted to go back again before we left we simply ran out of time

Not what I remembered!

By CYILLINI |

As a native of the Chicago area, I was looking forward to a recent visit, and to enjoying my favorite food stops. We scheduled time to visit this location for a family celebration. My wife and I have vivid memories of waiting in line at the original location for exquisite sausage pizzas with a rich buttery crust. This just wasn't the same! The pizzas were light on meat, I mean I had to search for it, and the crust was not the same as in my memories. Service was OK, but nothing special. On a Friday night, we were warned that preparations would take 1 hour....and it took every bit of that. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but Gino's did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps my memory of the original was too generous.

Best Deep Dish Pizza

By believeNus |

Service was great. Expect to wait 30-45 minutes for your order because made fresh (absolutely worth it). Great price and great taste! Went twice on our trip. The sausage patty version was unique and delicious!

Great pizza....little expensive

By ENVEBUZZ |

Pizza tasted great; 45 minutes wait but it was well worth it. Their small size (4 pieces) is too large for a single person, but it tasted so good that it’s hard to send anything to the box. Loved ‘Ear your veggies’.

Service was awful ... pizza amazing

By Victoria B |

It's unfortunate when the service ruins an amazing meal. We waited in a line to get in which was exciting because we knew it was going to be good and made us more excited for the famous deep dish pizza. We had spinach sticks to start which were yummy and then "Chicago fire" deep dish pizza which was incredible, definitely recommend if you like a bit of a kick. Our server never said two words to us could barely stand still for one moment to hear our drink orders brought our drinks without a tray and there were four of us so he had his fingers in the drinks to hold them. The plates were slammed down and never stopped for a moment to see how we were. When the bill was presented he had circled our tip options which were 18% 20% or 22% we left 12% as we thought he didn't deserve anything but would leave a little bit because we know there is support staff as well. As we were standing up we dropped something on the floor so we were picking it up he ripped the bill out of the hand of my friend to see the tip which was $0 because we left cash on the table, practically bumped us out of the way to locate the cash as we were still finding what we had dropped on the floor, when he saw it was less than what he had recommended for us he threw a complete fit by throwing his hands in the air muttering under his breath and standing there pointing to the bill and looking at us we just walked away. As four servers making our living from serving we know when a good tip is deserved and how frustrating it is when people don't tip but when you don't deserve it there is no reason to throw a fit which ensured we were happy we didn't give more this is extremely childish on his behalf hopefully he realizes why we did this and steps up his game in the future. Unfortunately with all of the pizza places to choose from in Chicago we will not be back to this even though the pizza was top notch.

best pizza of our trip

By justin c |

our last stop on the way home. crust is like corn bread. sauce is awsome. 40 minute wait on pizza seems the norm. we tried one other place and it was not as good for pizza (lou Malnati's) imo spinach and artichoke dip was great as well

A Corner Table and Awesome Pizza

By Rick M |

This branch of the small chain is located right in the heart of the Loop, and was maybe 10 minutes walk from our Hotel. We booked on OpenTable and got seated immediately. The place was pretty full for a Thursday night. We had an awesome table in the corner by the street front windows. We got a medium deep dish pizza that was half Gino's Supreme and half meat feat, plus my daughter got the Fettucini Alfredo since she feared the pizza might have too much mozzarella on it (it didn't and she snuck half a piece of pizza anyway). We chatted, sipped drinks, and soaked in the pleasant atmosphere while waiting for the pizza to bake. It was worth the wait, and totally awesome. We'll be back!

Great lunch spot with economical special!

By KAKLAW |

I've been going to Gino's East South Loop location since it was under another pizzeria's ownership. The lunch special for busy loop workers is truly a find. Soft drink, salad and a mini deep dish pizza for a great price. staff is nice - hi Rita! - and they are very accommodating. quick lunch at a great price!

Almost ruined me for pizza

By winenotwhine |

I was staying in town for a couple nights and noticed this place from my hotel so I thought I'd try it for lunch. I was their first customer of the day and that was my bad luck. The place reeked of pine cleaner (really strong!) that filled my sinuses. Then I paid $20 for a 9" pizza that had the strangest taste combination I've ever experienced. It was blue cheese and jalapeno; two things I like very much. But this was the nastiest tasting pizza on the globe and I will never forget it. Pine in my sinuses maybe? Don't know. And the service was nearly non existent. The guy who took my order would occasionally walk through the front of the house, but for nearly the entire time I was there, I was the only person in the room. I really can't think of one positive about the visit.

Homemade Spinach Sticks

By 422mimi |

We got the Spinach Sticks before getting the Meaty Legend deep dish pizza and were not disappointed. Had enough left over the next day and it was just as good cold!! Can;t wait for our next trip to Chi-Town to sample some more delicious fare from Gino's.

Best Pizza in Chicago

By Aerowing |

Ginos Pizza is the best when it comes to deep dish pizza in Chicago. There’s no place better. We were going to go to the original Gino’s restaurant location but found this one by accident. This location is great, very cozy with a nice bar and plenty of seating. We ordered a large deep dish pizza with Italian sausage and pepperoni and we’re not disappointed. It’s the best, what else can I say. The service is excellent here as well. Our server was very friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of paid street parking out front. If you’re looking for a great place to have the best pizza in town this is it.

Delicious- but took a longgggg time for pizza to get out to us!

By lazy susan |

Here with about 20 other people. Server was really good and attentive to all 5 of our tables. Didn't forget a thing at our table. Always had a smile on her face. Did apologize for the food taking so long to come out but it was reallyyyyy yummy! Crust is so good and pretty. Came up from Dallas, TX and we are already talking about the next time we visit Chicago and we will be back!

Great Deep Dish Crust

By kendellbrink |

Ordered take-away pizza and salad. The kale Cesar was great-ample amount of kale mixed with romaine and topped with a tangy dressing. Really appreciated the seasoned croutons. We ordered a 9” deep dish for 2. Loved the flaky crust. There was a bit too much tomato topping and too little cheese for our liking. The pizza was tasty. Staff is super friendly and helpful-Gaby made sure to send us off with ample supplies to enjoy our meal at home. Will definitely return with a few special requests.

awesome deep dish pizza

By Jody T |

This was a awesome place with friendly staff and the food was some of the best pizza Ive ever had. I'm not very big on ipa beer or craft brewery I like just regular beer but ya wont find any here. That is really the only problem I had with the place.

Best deep dish ever

By Yvette N |

The open and comfortable atmosphere makes me want to go back again and again. We shared the Crispy Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer, and oh my! My first Chicago deep-dish experience didn't disappoint and might have ruined me for any other. Can't wait to go back!

Bland thin crust pizza

By joeh3_6182 |

The sauce and sausage were tasteless. Crust was not good, more like dried bread. Got take out, didn't finis our pizza.

My first deep dish

By Andreas B |

Pizza was amazing service was great although it was quiet. Pizza takes about 30mins so don't go too hungry. This was my first deep dish but not my last.

After CTA ride back from Wrigley Field, stopped here on the way back to our South loop hotel 08/07/22

By raybyerley |

After a long day at a Cubs game, stopped here after CTA ride back before walking back to our hotel. It was quite busy but we got a booth right away and shared the following between four of us: - Caprese pasta salad (picture attached) that was very good; - harvest salad ( picture attached) that was also very good; - deep dish spinach-margherita pizza (picture attached) -delicious; - Gino supreme deep dish pizza (picture also attached) - also delicious ; - a couple vanilla-porter beers. Picture looking toward the bar is also attached. Kerry did a great job helping us.

Friendly and tasty

By Sausagedoggy |

Went here with a couple of work colleagues! V friendly helpful staff! Great deep pizzas 🍕 Cheap prices and nice mellow atmosphere

Good for Chicago style.

By Postxup |

Chicago style is the most overrated of the pizza styles. It was very good as a Chicago style. Pizza was cooked perfectly and the young women at the host table were very helpful for pickup.

Good food bad service on this visit

By J C |

We had Jesse, who must usually be the trash guy or bus boy, as our server. He had no customer service skills, was rude and incompetent. He had no knowledge of the menu or the availability of items or drinks. We eventually ordered our food and received some of it, but Jesse forgot to put in the entire order and then try to indicate it was our fault. He then charged us for a beer that he said was not available and we never received. He agreed to not charge us for the late pizza, but was still rude about it. We should not have leaved him a tip. The food was good, but I hope that you don't get better service than we received on this date.

Excellent Deep Dish

By Blake |

Went to Chicago for business and had this restaurant recommended to us, and it was great! Excellent deep dish pizza and Mozzarella sticks.

Great deep dish pizza. Good salads and wine too.

By PAC Texas |

I have eaten Giordano's pizza before and was looking forward to having it on a visit to Chicago. We ordered a $31 bottle of Chianti. Our waiter arrived with it already open saying this was to "save time" and if this happens to you, ask for a new bottle to be brought to the table. We were pretty sure they watered it down or put very cheap wine in it. It was very very bland. The pizza was very good, we ordered a large deep dish with half one kind of meat and half the other. The only warning is, don't eat too much if you aren't used to it- it's SO filling and it's SO delicious that you don't realize you are overstuffed until it's too late!

Great Deep Dish!

By NomadicHawkeye |

The first time I was ever in Chicago was in 8th grade for a class trip. We stopped at Gino's East for lunch, and I immediately fell in love with Chicago deep dish. During our visit to Chicago, I refused to leave until stopping at Gino's East again. On our last day in the city, we visited the South Loop location. We got seated immediately, and our server quickly took our drink order. She then asked us if we had ever been to Gino's East before, and then explained the menu and how we could split a pizza between two different topping choices. We ordered the "Meaty Legend". Our server returned shortly with our drinks, and checked on us periodically. The wait for the pizza was pretty long, but not uncommon for deep dish pizzas. Our server checked on us every 10-15 minutes, and gave us time estimates until our pizza would come out. Once it did, she cut it for us, and plated the first two slices. The pizza was amazing. The four different meats blended well together, and the crust was doughy in the middle and crispy around the edge. We could only finish one slice a piece, but took the leftovers home. Gino's East was exactly the way I remember from my last visit over a decade ago; hot, fresh, delicious, and paired with exemplary service.

Classy and delicious food

By World Trotter Here and Beyond |

This restaurant is so classy - good ambience. There are several big televisions all over the place. I liked the bar set-up and drink menu. Food is very delicious. Their deep dish pizza is unique compared to an overrated competitor in the area. Staffs are very entertaining and knowledgeable about their menu. Highly recommended to all!

Able to handle large crowds efficiently

By momkidsSCUBA |

The restaurant was prepared for our group of 28. They had plenty of servers assigned to use to ensure everyone was fed in a timely manner. Salad was tasty. Pizza was good. I believe each person has a specific taste in pizza. Mine, spinach or pepperoni, I prefer more that two bites of a topping per slice. I would recommend this location if you have a large crowd.

Waiter ruined our evening

By Claude P |

This was BAD. I come to Chicago every month. I used to take friends and clients here frequently. NEVER AGAIN. There were 4 of us including 2 hungry young men in their 20s. We asked the waiter specifically for a deep dish pizza that would serve 4 and go one size UP. What we received was a tiny 6 slice pizza for 4 people. Not even 2 slices each. It takes 45 minutes for these deep dish pizzas to cook. We weren’t ordering another one. VERY BAD. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Good desert - ok service

By Riodesmoke |

Stopped in here for a desert and a quick beer to get out of the rain. Sat at the bar but it took awhile for a bartender to come by. They were all running around so not sure if they were short staffed this day but they all seemed to be very busy. Had awesome deserts and cold beer. Did not have time for pizza but not a fan of cornmeal crust pizzas. I would go back as it was a nice establishment.

DDD-Don't Do Delivery

By Pedro C |

Best way to enjoy this pizza is to dine in or maybe order out. I called to place a delivery order yesterday. The call was transferred to Delivery Wow. Delivery Wow is handling all delivery for Gino’s East. It was a disaster. The people answering the call were friendly but my order took two hours to get it. I called multiple times but the last call was not answered. They did not charge me for delivery but the problem is that if the pizza isn’t satisfactory to you, you cannot reclaim anything. My pizza was cold, not fresh and this pizza is best when it is hot and fresh. Delivery Wow explained to me that they used the Superior Street Gino’s East restaurant instead of the South Loop location that I called. They said that the South Loop location misplaces many orders or that they never receive them. I believe that. Unfortunately the service at this location is very poor and I have had issues with my orders there before. I will never order delivery from Gino’s East or any restaurant that does business with Delivery Wow. I do like the food at the South Loop location and that is why I frequent this place but I will never do delivery from here again. I wish they would get their service together.

Dinner with my hubby

By Karon R |

This was my second time eating at Gino's and this time I was a little disappointed last time I couldn't stop raving about it so maybe they were just having an off day but the crust was awful

Good deep dish and microbrews

By Kyle N |

Classic Chicago deep dish, they have so many toppings choices and the sauce is wonderful. Tried the flight of microbrews, definitely a must. Great service from Mary, thank you.

Three Chicks and a Deep Dish

By IndyK |

Walked from the Palmer House...not too bad. Shared a medium deep dish. Best sauce and crust ever! There was no wait. Service was prompt. Waiter treated us to some sightseeing information. Will definitely go back.

"Daleb Is A Rising Star"

By Faustina B |

This was my first visit to this Gino's East located in Printers Row. It was very cozy & inviting. I had the pleasure of meeting my Server named Caleb who was so personable & attentive making my dining experience exceptional. It does not get any better than this. I will visit again & try their other menu items.

Great job, Amy!

Amy was great! Took care of us and was enjoyable to chat with. The food was ver delicious. We had a pizza and a few drinks to go with.

Gives Deep Dish a bad name

By Michael U |

Originally opened by Sam Levine and Fred Bartoli in 1966, Gino’s East is considered to be one of Chicago’s “Big Four” for Deep Dish, and differentiating themselves from Uno’s, Lou’s or Giordano’s by laying Cheese directly atop the Crust their Pies are now offered both by mail-order and at a dozen locations across the United States. Having since abandoned 160 East Superior Street in favor of fancier digs, the Magnificent Mile location ever popular despite prices nearly double Windy City institutions such as Pat’s, it was amidst COVID-19 precautions that Gino’s South Loop spot was visited, the outdoor patio not exactly scenic but also uncrowded. Having shuttered several branches long before the pandemic, and garnering luke-warm praise from Pizza aficionados, it was after twenty-minutes wait that a 9” with Sausage was presented, nearly $26 after tax and tip plus $4.50 parking for something barely tepid with Cheese that did not stretch beneath a fair-to-middling Sauce.

Deep dish love

Enjoyed a great meal during a recent visit. Food was excellent, deep dish is so unique and tasty. Will be back

Famous and Unique

By CathyC741 |

Well, it’s famous and it serves the original pizza that began at Uno’s. We began the Secret Food Tour here and were served with a thick pie. The crust is the most unique feature of Gino’s. It has cornmeal in it. Give it a try.

Best Pizza Ever

By vollmer21 |

I was told when your in Chicago you need to get some pizza. So I here I am my server was great help me with local Beers and I order a thin crust supreme ( I would have gotten a deep dish but it was over an hour wait). The pizza was a little big since I was alone but wow it was so good I ate it all. I was shocked at the great customer service and great food. Chicago turned out to be a pretty friendly place. I will go back just for the pizza.

Great experience! Excellent service, excellent food and a small adjoining coffee shop. Small and intimate, make sure to ask for Miguel!

Great find the day before Thanksgiving

By John R |

We got there a little late the day before Thanksgiving. Miguel was very welcoming, he gave us plenty of time to decide. We got a thin crust followed by Chicago style. Both were excellent, the Chicago style has an awesome crust and is loaded. Miguel sliced it up and served up equal portions for us. I highly recommend.

Fun

By Dunn45 |

Try the nachos. They are great. Meat lovers deep dish. A lot of sports on TVs. Lots of nice tables. Good service.

Service not up to usual standards

By J Free |

So been here a few times as I live in the neighbourhood and it's been OK, but this time we found the service very perfunctory and the staff just going through the motions. We were told quite grumpily, that the CO2 was out so there was no draft beer. The food was fine but if I'm dropping $100 on two pizzas, two cokes and two beers, I'd expect better and maybe a smile from the staff. maybe our server was having an off night but I won't be back to find out...

John W

By John W |

Three in our party... Wow, recommended by a close friend but I guarantee I will never step foot in here again! 1 hour wait on a Saturday night to get a table? No problem, it's a popular place. Having to ask for drinks twice after sitting there 10 minutes? No problem, it happens. Waiting 25 minutes for my wife to get here entry, a Harvest salad, well, why? Waiting another 25 minutes till my pizza comes out? They have already cleared my wife's salad plate by the way. Things are now looking bad. My pizza was tasteless, under done and barely luke-warm! Couldn't finish a single piece and would bring this home to anyone. Been here 2 hours now and we're still waiting on the last pizza. I was just told it is taking an hour and a half to bake a small deep dish pizza. On what planet? 2 of us are completely done and still waiting on the last of our food. Oh, the pie finally arrived so I guess the two finished with their dinners will just sit here and watch someone eat their dinner. The service sucked and the food is such a low quality that I am surprised that it is so popular. Never, ever again!

Not Happy

By Kathy W |

Our pizza was lukewarm warm. Very disappointed. The waitress made a point of telling us it would take 45 minutes for the pizza. It did take that long but must have sat around for half that time before it was brought to us.

I ate all the Pie!

By Woodrow B |

Prefer the large Meaty Legend and a friend and I loved it, everything a Chicago deep dish should be! Don't let anyone say it's too long of a wait because thats standard for a good deep dish, this ain't Dominos pal, you wait for quality! Price is good for what you get $36 for a huge deep dish filled with every meant and cheese your heart hates and desires!

LOVED the food, delicious!!

By Sarah B |

Great atmosphere, delicious food and the service was good. We tried a variety of dishes and all shared but the pizza is a must!!

I know you're meant to have the deep dish when in Chicago but we went for the 16" thin crust - and it was fabulous. Obviously it was huge, but you can take the left overs away in a box, so that was ok. It was a beautiful sunny day so we were lucky enough to sit inside (there are tables outside too) by the open doors. Friendly helpful service, with a great menu choice, although the wine is expensive.

We stopped in on a Sunday late afternoon as part of a food tour. We had a slice of deep dish. Interestingly, the pizza is layered crust, sausage patty, sauce, cheese. It was very good. Recommend.

Ate here when staying at The Hotel Blake.

This restaurant had great food and great service. The chicken nachos were excellent as was the pizza.

If you are hungry and want a lively place for pizza, this is a good choice. It did take awhile for the pizza but we have ordered a family sized antipasto salad that could feed more people. We were 4. In addition, we ordered a margarita deep dish and a spicy sausage thin crust. Polished off 2 bottles of Chianti as well. There was a game on so it got very loud at times and people coming by to high five us at times.... because the Bears actually won a game. It’s not the best pizza in town but for the price, convenience and atmosphere, it’s go.
