I did not know this was a BYOB, so a tad disappointed until they "snuck" out a glass for me! I did not have a reservation (MAKE SURE YOU CALL AHEAD) but since I was early and by myself (traveling for work) they said come on in! So glad I could stay because it's very authentic ROMAN food. I had the waiter surprise me with dinner and he did not disappoint - Lobster Ravioli with crab meat and some sick orange sauce. TINY so it was a little awkward, but with a reservation, those window seats are fabulous. It's obvious that this place has regulars, and the hugging w/ Giorgio and his staff was nice. Go here, call ahead.

3 couples spent the evening here for dinner before a show at the Academy of Music (within walking distance). The special pumpkin gnocchi was a highlight as was the shaved romaine salad and the fettuccine with sweet sausage. The service was great and our waitress Susan was very attentive. Giorgio was a charming host.

Worst restaurant experience ever! Arrived promptly for 6:15 reservation in advance of 8:00 event at Kimmel a few blocks away. When we let our server know, she abruptly informed us that she knew, and every diner was going to Kimmel, the implication being "no problem". Took a while for server to take our order. After appetizers served, she never approached us again. At 7:30, went to look for her, and told owner that if we did not get served in 5 minutes, we were leaving. He assured me our meals would be right out. At 7:35, our server delivered dinners to party behind us who had arrived 10 minutes after we did, without ever speaking to us; she was obviously ignoring us without the courtesy of an apology or explanation of the problems restaurant was having. We left, and the only thing close to an apology we received was from the host who mumbled "sorry; enjoy your show". Obviously a very popular, reasonably priced BYO, but there are enough choices that we do not have to patronize a place which can't handle a busy night, or exhibit minimal courtesy to customers prepared to spend their hard earned money. I've never posted a review like this before, and was very disappointed with my attempt to enjoy a meal at Giorgio's.

Service was excellent and our portions were generous. I was starving so that was a great thing. I love veal, and this did not disappoint. Extremely tender and flavorful. My wife had a chicken dish and it was juicy & perfectly sauteed. Remember it is BYOB and if we didn't have a show to go to, I would have loved to hang out a little longer.

Highly recommended Italian restaurant: excellent quality of food, family atmosphere, warm welcome, honest prices and you even bring your own wine from home. Giorgio is a lovely person who has a really special treatment for his customers, much appreciated.. thanks again for the lovely evening Giorgio! The Italian family (Juve) traveling to Washington.

The owner was very kind to us as soon as we walked in the door, we ordered veal and a pesto seafood special and it was amazing!

Our family met at Giorgio on Pine to celebrate a college graduation. We were looking for a traditional Italian meal. What I found was much more than a meal, I experienced deja vu. We were welcomed with a heartfelt "Ciao" and felt immediately transported back to Italia. The ambiance was reminiscent of a quaint trattoria off the piazza anywhere in Italy. The table was set with olive oil with roasted garlic and fresh bread which was replenished without needing to ask. The chef specials all sounded amazing two of us got the veal special with sautéed spinach and cheese, delectable. Another got the Rigatoni special with calamari, shrimp and lump crabmeat in vodka sauce, heavenly. Linguine with Clams in white wine sauce, divine and ravioli in vodka sauce, delightful, completed our selections. Service was warm and professional. All around a fabulous experience we'll definitely be back! No need wait for another special occasion. Just a heads up, we were a party of 7 and gratuity was added in. BYOB!

We ate here before seeing a show at the Academy of Music. The trip advisor reviews were right this place is great. The place is small and was very busy the night we went. Giorgio was a gracious host and stopped by all of the tables. We were served complimentary bruschetta after being seated at a tiny table very close to another table. This may bother some people but not us, we loved it. Crusty bread is served with roasted garlic olive oil. I got the lobster ravioli special and my husband got a chicken dish. Both were out of this world! We asked about the tiramisu and the waiter brought us a sample...it was creamy and delicious. We decided to split a creme brûlée and it was the best either of us have ever had. Not kidding you’ve gotta get it. The table next to us shared another dessert with us and that was great too. All in all a fantastic experience that I can’t wait to repeat.

To me, really authentic Italian food. Homemade pasta and a good variety. Portion sizes are rather large. Cozy and warm place. Loved the bolognese sauce and also the sweet potato gnocchi

Absolutely brilliant!! We found this restaurant online and took the short walk from our hotel to it. We were surprised at how small it was but excited to see if we could get a table. We lucked into a table for three and this super cute restaurant. The lovely man and woman running the restaurant were super sweet and nice to us. This cute, I would say boutique style restaurant was phenomenal. The food was amazing as was the service. It was neat to sit near the kitchen and watch the guys work. Wow! They were super busy. It's a BYOB place so bring your own! Worth the walk from Bound Street. We had the special of the day. The lobster ravioli I'm told was really good. I had the parmesan cheese crusted chicken with a side of spaghetti. Both were very very good! Lots and lots of food. I had leftovers! It seems like they take reservations so definitely check that out and call ahead.

This restaurant was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Great staff, great food, great environment. If we are ever visiting Philly again we would definitely return. BYOB!

Step 1: Make reservations! This is a small establishment but so worth it! Located in a quaint old building that harkens back to an earlier time. 2. It’s BYOW which stands for Bring Your Own Wine. There are plenty of appetizers to try. The portions are generous! Choose from the menu or try a specialty of the night. 3. Walk, Uber or Taxi it. You won’t find much in the way of parking. 4. Prices are reasonable, so sit back, enjoy the atmosphere and take it all in!

DELICIOUS!!!! Although it was so crowded, as always, the food was the best. The “homey” atmosphere & seemingly chaos should NOT deter you from going. A reservation a MUST. (May want to confirm it day before) Staff work really hard and are happy to serve their customers. If I lived anywhere close, I would be a regular! There is no waiting area for your table. Be patient & dress warm if it’s cold!

After hearing from friends about how much they love this restaurant, we made a reservation and visited last night! I am happy to say that Giorgio on Pine did not disappoint! Six us us were seated immediately after being greeted in the cozy, comfortable lower room and our lovely waitress had our wine uncorked( its BYOB!) and had thick cuts of crusty bread with roasted garlic in olive oil on the table. She filled us in on the specials(everything sounded delicious) and gave us tips on her favorites. Each did we tried was better than the next! The sautéed calamari appetizer was well prepared and tasty, the sweet potato gnocchi( which we shared as an appetizer) may be the most perfect gnocchi ever! Our group entrees included gnocchi with braised beef ragu, lobster ravioli and the Parmesan encrusted pork chop with garlic green and potatoes. All were outstanding but this pork chop is next level! It was amazing! We were so full but had to try the homemade tiramisu. We ordered just one for everyone to taste but our awesome waitress thought it wasn’t enough and comped is an extra tiramisu and the most decadent piece of chocolate cake! This has never happened to us and was so appreciated-what a place! The owner circulated around the room checking in diners and chatting and was perfectly charming! This restaurant is an absolute delight! It will be a frequent choice in Philadelphia for us! Well done Giorgio on Pine! We loved spending our night in your fabulous restaurant !

From the moment we entered and were seated till the time we walked out (the waitress actually came out into the street to thank me for the Tip) everything was great. Entrees were awesome. From the Rib Eye, Stuffed Chicken and Lobster Ravioli's they were served perfect and good presentation. We had a tough decision when picking desserts so the waitress (very class act) besides the cannoli, tiramisu, she gave a piece of chocolate cake. Being in the Industry myself for over 25 years and currently still in the Hospitality Industry (Hotel/Resort Consultant)- I would strongly recommend EVERYONE to come and try it.

In this wonderful little restaurant where you are greeted by the host, an Italian gentleman who is welcoming and efficient. This homey Italian restaurant feels like family. The menu is not large, the food is delicious & the waiters are friendly & attentive. We were there on a Tuesday & it was not a busy evening. Our host encouraged us to stay & talk. I felt like I was back in Italy.

One of the best Italian Restaurants in Philadelphia. The Bronzino was delicious, and the Pasta with vodka sauce was the best. The staff was efficient and professional. The owner who was there cared for his customers and was helpful.

It was an amazing meal. We mostly had appetizers and were stuffed. The one person who ordered an entree took half of it home he got so much. Can personally recommend the muscles marinara. But everything was delicious and the service was great thanks Marisia.

First time at this restaurant. Went after a matinee at the Merriam theater. Small place with the owner there making sure evryone is happy. It is a BYOB which helps keep the cost down. Service is very good. We asked if we could have an entree pasta as a half porton as an appetizer and the server agreed although it was not stated on the menu. I had the sweet potato gnocchi and my friend had the claims and linguine. Both were very good. We both had the veal and procuitto and liked it. I had the gelato and she had the cheese cake for dessert.

We came here for lunch and were told by the owner that he needed to have the restaurant cleaned so we should come back in an hour. We did. We were the only guests at the restaurant for lunch. The owner was apologetic about having sent us away and was flustered as huge parties were expected for dinner for graduation celebrations. We ordered gluten free pizzas (which he warned us were not going to be great), one gluten free pasta and one regular. My son ate his gf pizza without complaint. My daughter left hers mostly uneaten. My shrimp gf pasta came full of a great sauce but completely undercooked. I sent it back. It came back cooked properly but without most of that great sauce (perhaps they tossed it back in the pan of water?). I just ate it since the rest of my party was done eating. I would come back again and give it another chance. I think he was having a bad day.

With my wife being a coeliac (excuse the spelling - we're from the UK!), finding a restaurant - particularly an Italian, that understands the concerns of cross-contamination and can deliver superb food is very difficult, certainly in a big City; Giorgio on Pine was found by chance on a 'gluten-free restaurant' internet search - and, wow did it deliver! My Wife, Mum and I ate there last night and the entire experience was truly wonderful! The menu was exceptional - almost all the entrees were naturally gluten-free meaning that as a family group, we were able to share the exquisite tastes around the table - you have no idea how good that made us feel to all be 'included'. Gluten-free bread was brought to the table for my Wife alongside the standard for Mum and I; the grilled Caesar salad my Wife and Mum shared was superb; my mussels and clams to die for; entrees of gluten-free pizza; stuffed chicken breast (GF) and veal in lemon (GF) were just sublime! My Wife thought she'd gone to Heaven as she enjoyed the GF flourless chocolate torte; Mum tucked into vanilla cheesecake (light; tasty but non-GF) and my cappuccino was excellent. Truly a 'must' for anyone who wants an excellent; great value Italian - and the extensive GF menu is just a wonderful 'plus'! Thank you so much Giorgio!

We had a wonderful experience at Giorgio on Pine for Mother's Day! The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Our family loved it! Grazie tanto, Giorgio!

Giorgios is AMAZING!! We go here at least once a month since we found it two years ago. The pork chop is the best you'll ever have, it's not on the menu but is a nightly special. I personally don't like pork chops but after seeing people order it every time we went I finally gave in, now my husband and I always order one pasta dish and the pork chop every time. Their homemade fettuccine is great. You can substitute it for any of the pasta dishes on the menu if you don't like the daily specials they have with fettuccine. Giorgio is always there and so welcoming! Crystal, the executive chef, does a great job running the kitchen and making sure that everything that comes out is of high quality. The staff (servers, busers, server assistant) are all professionals and great at their respective jobs. I can't recommend Giorgios on Pine enough!! P.s. Call and make a reservation a couple days in advance.

This was a friendly and totally satisfying place to dine. They were so accommodating. The portions were huge and all the customers seemed to be having a jovial time.

We were looking for a local place that had gluten free options. Giorgio on Pine hit the spot. Friendly service and excellent food. My friend loved her gluten free pasta. The bread was slightly toasted with olive oil and garlic was a tasty start. We then had a caprese salad that was large enough to split. All portions are very generous. The gnocchi special was the best gnocchi I've ever had. They make it fresh and the gargonzola sauce was just right. It is a BYOB place so if you like wine bring your own. Great food and atmosphere. We were lucky to walk in on a Monday night and get a table. Reservations recommended.

I've been back here several times since my less than perfect first visit and it's quickly become one of my favorites. I love that it's BYOB. The food is phenomenal - I dream about the perfect gnocchi they serve here. It's usually crowded and you sit close to your neighbors so it can be noisy, but it's oh so worth it.

We went to the takeaway next door at 1334 and ordered a Greek pizza. It took 20 minutes but was well worth the wait. The toppings were tasty and the base was perfect.

My sister and I were visiting Philly and found this place not too far from our Airbnb. We were honestly surprised at just how delicious it was. Some of the best Italian I’ve had stateside—easily the best spaghetti a la vodka. Great friendly and attentive staff and I could have eaten ten more plates of the pre-meal bread that was put out. Great BYOB spot. Too bad I don’t live here, I’d return to try more of their dishes. Mine had so much balanced flavor packed into one dish.

Our family loves to take frequent weekend trips to Philadelphia, indulging in late lunches, dinners, and leisurely strolls around Center City and its neighboring areas. Without a doubt, we can confidently say that Giorgio on Pine serves the finest gnocchi in the city. This marks our second visit to this establishment in two years, and both times have been nothing short of delightful. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and the service is truly exceptional.

We found this little gem while looking for a place to have dinner before going to the Kimmel Center. Delicious food. Wonderful, friendly service. We'll be back!

We went here after an afternoon show and had a great meal and service. So much food that 3 out of 4 couldn’t finish. This is an authentic Italian restaurant with friendly people and good food. We arrived a little before 5pm and it wasn’t too crowded, but within 30 minutes, it was completely full (and this was on a day when the Eagles were playing). Make a reservation and then have an enjoyable, relaxing meal. This is a BYOB.

Restuarant is small with a smaller kitchen. The food that they create is great. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make sure your party is enjoying everything. This is a BYOB. The prices are very reasonable for the unique creations.

Delicious meal and attentive service. Only complaint is that it is a little bit too loud inside. Oh, and the waitress rattled off the specials like a social security number. Slow down!

Great place for dinner before going to the theatre. We had the salmon, ravioli, homemade pasta and soup, all delicious! Great service, owner comes around to make sure everything is ok and gave a us a sample of the tiramisu which was the best I've ever had. Wish I had room for more! Great BYOB restaurant which I would highly recommend.

I had dinner at Giorgio on Pine with my son on Mother's Day. We ended up sitting close to the kitchen area but didnt feel cramped because the staff were very aware of where we were and didnt crowd us. While this was a BYOB we werent able to bring our own wine. They very kindly poured us each a glass from a leftover bottle from another diner - was very sweet of them to do this - not sure if it was because of Mothers day, but was appreciated. We shared the Caprese salad - fresh and yummy. I had the stuffed chicken and my son had the Chicken a La Valentina. Both were nice sized portions and delicious. Everything was piping hot - i noticed that they were very quick and organized with the food and nothing sat waiting to be served. Service was wonderful and everyone seemed to keep an eye on all their guests. We ended the meal with cappucino and the chocolate cake - which was moist and very delicious. We took our time and didnt feel rushed....this is a gem in the city and great for small or large groups

What a great gem we found last night! This restaurant is located on a side street just off Broad street. When we walked in it felt as if we just walked into our families home for dinner. Small, quaint, cozy, and.... Italian! The service was great, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was fully of conversation. We will definitely be visiting them again!

We wandered by past the restaurant well past the lunch hour and happened in to Giorgio's. There were few customers since it was around 3:00. We were welcomed like family. The service was excellent, the pasta was homemade and it was some of the best Italian food we've had since we were in Italy. The owner checked on us at least twice, took the time to talk to us and gave us a shared dessert of some of the best tiramisu I've eaten. Well worth the time to find this place and our best meal in Philly.

Nice little place we booked a rehearsal dinner for. However, it was on a Friday night and clearly overbooked. We watched through the window as they whisked the party out that was ahead of us. Service was reasonable and the raviolis I had were excellent. No one had any complaints about the food. Just very loud and slow.

Went with family for New Year’s. The food was excellent as was the service. Place is small but cozy! A little loud . Will definitely return!

This is a great restaurant. The food is straight forward and delicious. The menu is not too long and all the better for it. Food is excellent and well executed. The owner is very nice and welcoming.

We were looking for a great spot to have a casual dinner with friends and family with great food and BYOB. Giorgio on Pine was everything we would have hoped for. Our table had the gnocchi off the menu, the bucatini, a veal dish, linguine and clams, and even the steak. No complaints from anyone. The table appetizers were very good (with the mussels I'd call excellent). My gnocchi had an awesome beef and tomato sauce that was delicious. Topped the meal off with creme brulee, tiramisu (OMG!) and some great tasting coffee. A home run at a very good value, under $250 all in for 6 adults (we brought our wine). Fantastic!

Giorgio is a wonderfull person, we arrived at 7 p.m. without reservetion and when he means that we are Italians he find a table for 3 people, my wife is gluten free and i’m with my son, he is 8. We felt Better then in our home , he showed me Totti picture upside the cashier and when I Said that i’m roman he spoke with me like a son. How much free kindness for strangers in a stranger land, we ate shrimps and calamari with a cream of cannellini beans (super) and 3 pasta (1 gluten free and 1 regular with tomatoes and meat sauce very good) and i ate linguine with claims (he suggested gnocchi but i don’t wanted tomatoes) and its were great. Tiramisù like the Italian recipe. If you are in Philadelphia you must go, Giorgio will be your country and your parent, you’ll remember his goodness and his smile and your belly will thank you.

Food was great service perfect, but Saturday night noisy. Other than the noise, the food was superb. I would go back but not Friday Or Saturday night. We went with friends from the suburbs, they also loved the food

Every year, my sons and I, my brothers-in-law, and a few close friends go out for a holiday dinner. This year we chose Giorgio On Pine. What a great experience !!! The owner-Giorgio- is a great host. The food was outstanding ( maybe the best Italian meal I have ever had in a restaurant) . The service was fantastic. We shared 9 appetizers between 14 guys, then shared 9 pasta dishes, then we all had individual entrees. Everything was delicious. It reminded me of my grandmother's home cooking with a savory flair. Prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large. Also, it is a BYOB which I love. This is my new go-to place.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. The food is amazing. Every time I come here I have something different and I have never been disappointed. The gnocchi with braised beef is absolutely delicious but Tonight I had the lobster ravioli special. The creamy sauce was so light, the lumps of crabmeat was a nice surprise. The small pieces of asparagus topped it off. The portion size is perfect for the price. It is BYOB so you you can pair with your favorite wine.

I went there as part of the a relatively large group. One of the real benefits is that the restaurant has no license for alcohol, so bring your own (do some research for beer / wine shops in Philly before coming). Corkage is also free, making it a really good deal. The food was excellent, and our main hostess did an excellent job of knowing what we wanted and ordered (compare this with my review for McCormick & Shmicks, where we went the night before). Food was excellent. Good quality, and hot for the whole group (we were 15+, which is no mean feat)! A recommended hidden away restaurant, with excellent food, and reasonable prices... made even better with 'shop price' rather than 'restaurant price' alcohol. Very recommended!

Stopped in last minute to make a reservation. We're able to get a table for three at 5 pm. Only three other tables were seated at the time. We were seated right near the service counter which was slightly busy but it was a warm and cozy spot. All of us chose a chicken dish. Daughter got Parmesan crusted chicken which was delicious! I got the stuffed chicken breast that was stuffed with mozzarella, prosciutto and spinach and accompanied by roasted potatoes and sautéed kale, that was amazing and hubby got a chicken with a spiced sauce with prosciutto that was also delicious! Meal came with a delicious crusty bread and garlic olive oil. All meals were very delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive. Would definitely return here. Highly recommend.

Made reservations for 7 at lunchtime. Walked into an empty restaurants and learned they had us scheduled for the following day. The owner said it was no problem as they had room(of course they did-not acknowledging their error). Yes they advertise open for lunch, but no record of us, an empty restaurant and a dinner menu with a minuscule section for lunch items might suggest that lunch time is not a priority here. Having been here in the past, it seemed that my pasta was not up to par. The message seemed apparent that we too, were not a priority. Perhaps dinner would have been a better choice , as I have enjoyed some of their dinner specials..

Giorgio is a very small Italian restaurant. Reservations are a must. It was a Saturday night (I assume most nights if not all are like this) and there is not much space between the tables. There were six of us celebrating a graduation. The food was very good, the service to match and the owner walked around to each table and engaged in conversations with the patrons. That was a very nice, special touch to a delicious meal.

We were looking for a nice place within a walking distance of Kimmel center for a pre-concert early dinner. We chose Giorgio for the proximity and wonderful reviews. They turned out to be well deserved. My husband and I ordered lobster raviolis, the night's special. Our teenage daughter enjoyed grilled salmon with roasted potatoes and collard greens. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of home made bread and a side of roasted garlic with olive oil that the waitress brought to the table prior to the meal. We were pressed for time before the concert and didn't order the appetizers. In our experience, it's the little things and their quality that really show class and superb cooking. The service was very efficient and fast. We even squeezed in the dessert - chocolate cake for our daughter and creme brulee for is to share. Giorgio came to the table several times inquiring about food and service. At the end of dinner, my husband and he were chatting about Italy and Rome, like old friends. All in all, a wonderful gem of Italian cuisine and a keeper for any outings along the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

WHAT A DISGRACE! I was at the restaurant last week and was treated like garbage. To start they screwed up our reservation for a party of 10 people and made us wait outside in the rain while they threw the tables together. While finishing our meals "finishing not done" the waitress began to shove desserts at us. Puzzled we asked where the dessert menu was because we did not want the dessert they were throwing at us for "free". We then noticed that there was a group of people standing by our table staring at us as if we were not supposed to be there. The owner then came over and told us we had to leave so the other people could be seated and we could go finish our desserts in the Pizza shop next store. We paid our $500.00 bill and left. The treatment was horrendous and $500.00 may not be a lot for some people but it certainly is to us. Us, a group of people that get together once a year for the holidays. Only to have this disgusting treatment left as the main memory of our evening. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We had a group of 10 and had made reservations. Our table was ready in a timely fashion and the wait staff was super attentive. Food was authentic and delicious and served up fast. They offered wine glasses for our wine (odd thing about Philadelphia and the BYOB of many neighborhood establishments). Desserts were over the moon. Giorgio himself made an appearance at every table (and there were 3 large groups that night). I was super impressed with this smallish restaurant and what they were able to accomplish. Kudos to them for making our special night seem extra special.

Had a really nice experience at Georgio recently. Friendly service, warm, intimate environment and wonderful food. I'm not a fan of the Caesar Salad - grilled romaine just isn't my thing, but the homemade pasta entree was absolutely wonderful. So, why not five stars? Well... the guy who was cleaning the table next to me who essentially sprayed my dinner partner and me with windex. Yowza! C'mon guys. You get so much right here, but that was rather annoying, unsanitary and bad form. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend the place.

So we always like to give a place a second chance, when the first experience falls short of expectations, and it paid off. Last time it was packed and understandable due to the weekend crowds, and that will sometimes take away from the ambiance of the restaurant. This was a Tuesday around 6:30 so we were able to get in without a reservation. Since it was during the week, we just wanted nice dinner and be on our way. I noticed the grilled Caesar salad on the menu (A WINNER) and wanted to try it, my wife had the Pasta Primavera and mine was the Rigatoni dish with sweet sausage and peppers. We finished out with a delicious Tiramisu, thanks to our waitress Jamie. We sat in the upper dining room, which I felt was a little more comfortable. I would have to say, the second time was a charmer and we'll be back

What a fabulous dinner. I can't say enough good things. My husband, daughter and I loved our meals from start to finish. The grilled Caesar salad and rigatoni were delicious. The desserts were a great ending. Lively fun atmosphere.

We live in a neighborhood where we do dine-arounds every other month or so. The last time we went to Giorgio on Pine and had a dining experience that would rival some restaurants I have frequented in Boston's North End, NYC's Little Italy, and Italy itself. The food was incredible and the service was like having one of my Aunties serving me homecooked food back in Boston. I would recommend this place for busines, pleasure, or just darn good food.

I do not hesitate at all in giving this five stars...I absolutely LOVED everything about Giorgio. The low key authentic Italian atmosphere...our charming waiter Steven... the food! It's great that it's BYOB too. To start we were presented with fresh bread and succulent slow roasted garlic cloves. We ordered some hams and melon which was good. For mains we shared lemon veal and tomato Bucatini with pancetta. Both these were exceptional. For pudding we were advised by our waiter to try the flourless chocolate cake. I'm not one for dessert normally but this was divine! All in all it was perfect, and probably my favourite meal I had in Philadelphia. I will definitely be coming back when I return!

First time here, pre-theater dinner. Good location for walking to theater, very friendly wait staff, delicious food, BYOB and good atmosphere. We had calamari and shrimp as an appetizer, delicious, never had calamari like this before. It seemed to be stewed with the shrimp and seasonings. Would get this again in a minute. Had veal and eggplant dish, very good and pasta with prosciutto, peas, mushrooms in a light cream sauce. Very nice time - would go again for sure.

We made a reservation for 6 two days ahead....but when we showed up, they had no record of a reservation. After about 5 minutes, they were able to accommodate us. That was really nice of them considering the restaurant was very busy during the holiday week. Once seated, the first thing the served asked was if anyone was gluten free. One of us was and she was quite impressed! They even served her gluten free bread. Though the restaurant is small and you are packed in pretty tightly, it was a wonderful experience for us. All the meals were excellent and the appetizers were pretty good....except for the calimari, which was good, but it was served without sauce, which seemed a bit different. Overall the atmosphere and food were both enjoyable and we will definitely go back. If you want gluten-free Italian, I highly recommend Giorgios on Pine.

Just tried out this place with my friends who have dined there before. We all are gluten-free and 2 are dairy-free. So happy to see such an extensive gluten free menu with lots of delicious options! Even have gluten free bread for the table. Portions were large and filling! Everything I had was excellent and I think everyone else (even the non-GF people) thoroughly enjoyed the food! Great service as well.

Went there with friends had reservations for 8 PM, finally seated at 8:50. Restaurant was totally overbooked. This total disrespect for your time is unexcuseable and their are too many “good” restaurants that understand this. Food was good but definitely not worth the wait, will not return!

Made a reservation for a party of 8, based on the recommendation of a friend. Table was ready and waiting for us at 6:30pm. Bruschetta once we were seated. It's BYOB and we knew to bring our favorites. Great specials, house specialty is sweet potato gnocchi, which we had as an appetizer for the entire table. We enjoyed veal, linguine with calms, fish special, ravioli and more. Desserts- all homemade--cheesecake, triple chocolate cake, the best tirasimu, creme brûlée, and and coffee ice cream concoction. Cappuccino perfecto! We will be back on our next visit to Philly.

This is our favorite restaurant near the Kimmel Center. Before we buy show tickets we make our dinner reservations lol. We had 2 of their specials last night. I had the Parmesan crusted pork chop and my husband got the homemade fettuccini bolognese. They give you crusty bread and olive oil with cloves of roasted garlic. Delicious and sweet. The server asked if we wanted appetizers or salad and we declined. She brought us a free salad to share because “the pork chop takes a while”. Nice touch. We always BYOB. Salad and entrees were really good. We thought we were done but Giorgio came over and started chatting with my husband about the desserts....needless to say we got flourless chocolate cake and espresso. Very good. Great energy in this well run establishment. We love it and will be back.

We were in town for our son's wedding and had a family dinner at Giorgio! All twenty of us are still talking about the food!! Every dish was spectacular!!! This is the best Italian food we have eaten outside of Italy!!! A must for anyone coming to Philly!!

This is one of my son's favorite restaurants in Philadelphia, so we wanted to go as a treat right after his college graduation. The timing couldn't have been worse: the ceremony was supposed to end at 9:30 and the kitchen closed at 10:30. I called to make a reservation and explained we couldn't get there until 10:00 but we would order everything all at once and wouldn't dawdle. We got there at 10:00 and our table was waiting. We offered to order everything at once, including dessert, but the staff said it wasn't necessary We had lovely food: fresh bread with olive oil and baked garlic cloves, beautiful salads, great mains, including their special sweet potato gnocchi, and wonderful, unhurried desserts. The quality of food and the high level of service and hospitality ensures that we will make this a regular stop whenever we are in Philly. Highly recommend! Please note, it's BYOB --

On a Saturday, we had 6:30PM reservation for 4, but they were very busy. We sat down at 6:50PM. The service was excellent, the food was worth the wait. I had gnocchi in a white sauce, which was a specialty of the house. Now, it is my favorite. This is a hidden BYOB restaurant in center city. The owner apologized frequently for the wait and came over often asking us about the food. Food was superb!

We were looking for a place to take our traveling companions for their 41st anniversary along with my niece who is in her first semester at the University of Pennsylvania & a long way from home. The hotel recommended Georgio’s it was a winner!!! It was only a few blocks from our hotel tucked away in a quiet part of town, it’s not very big so I would defiantly make reservations, but whatever part of town your staying in I would deffinatly go!! Great food Georgio over see’s every aspect from taking orders to watching his kitchen. He made us feel welcome & we didn’t feel like we were 1500 miles from home! More like we were old friends and guest in his kitchen! I cannot day enough good things about this restaurant.. I wish I could give it 10 stars! SAVE ROOM FOR DESERT!!!

We arrived around 3:30 to the pepperoni and sausage side of the restaurant. There were 6 and a baby and they didn't have enough staff on to serve us from the regular menu. 30 min later they were able to seat us. The food was pretty yummy. Nothing worth the $250 bill that 6 of us racked up. That didn't even include drinks as its a BYOB restaurant.

I was blown away by this place. BYOB, affordable, delicious, amazing service. Was told we had to be done in 45 minutes because they needed the table for reservations, lol we didn't rush though it did make me laugh. Cesar salad was beautiful. I got a salad with no meat and lemon vinaigrette, so good. Gnocchi was deliciousssssss. We passed on dessert but we're given a little slice of tiramisu. I love this place.

Made reservations a week ago to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Arrived on time to see a packed vestibule of hungry diners with same reservation time. After standing for 45 minutes past the reservation time with no communication from the staff-other than we could not sit at a open 4 top that was open since we arrived-because that was for a party of 10 reservation for 6:30 as well we grabbed an Uber and headed to Del Frisco’s for a 7:30 reservation we just made on Open Table. Being packed like sardines with other diners and standing over diners as they tried to enjoy their meal was very uncomfortable. Sure we paid a lot more at Del Frisco’s than we would have at Giorgio’s but my time is worth more than my money. Del Frisco’s had us seated promptly at 7:30 and everything was top notch. This is Saturday night in Philadelphia and thank goodness you aren’t the only restaurant in town Giorgio! Communication is everything and I think waiting 45 minutes past reservation time was more than enough.

Giorgio's on Pine was the best meal I had in Philadelphia and is the top 5 Italian meals I've ever tried! It is a hole in the wall kind of place that is a real authentic experience. It's not really a quick bite kind of place, be prepared for a multi course meal. The service is not fast, but it is good. A manager comes over to take your order and really helps you find something on the menu that fits you. They understand food allergens and are able to provide great gluten free options for almost everything on the menu. We had a very gluten sensitive person with us and there were no issues (very important)! It is a small place and I highly suggest making a reservation in advance. The night we were there (a Sunday) the place was packed wall-to-wall. I ordered the veal and was a little surprised at how great it really was. Without smothering the meat in marinara sauce, they provided authentic Italian cuisine that really focused on accentuating the flavors of the quality cut meat. I will be going back each time I visit Philly. Great food in a great environment.

My husband and I dined here on June 30th 2018 for my birthday, what a mistake. We arrived around 5:50pm for a 6:00pm reservation, most of the place was empty. We were seated right away at a table against the wall, I was very happy I didn't have to sit at a table in the middle of the room especially since the place is so small. As we sat the place filled up quick, we ordered two appetizers but couldn't decide what we wanted for dinner. The waiter seamed like he was in a hurry to get our order, we gave him our order and just assumed he wanted to get our order quick because he was getting busy. Our appetizers were dropped off with no sharing plates we had to use our bread plates didn't matter cause the bread came after and the waiter never stopped back. The waiter came back to remove our appetizers and was in such a hurry he didn't notice we didn't eat all of one of the appetizers. (sautéed calamari) As the waiter was removing the plate, I told him there was a dead fruit fly on the plate and his response was'"thank you". He was in such a hurry I don't think he heard what I said nor did he care. Dinner came and it was fine, as we were eating I noticed that the two gentlemen seating people kept staring at us. At that the waiter came over and wanted to take our plates, we asked to get the food wrapped he seamed annoyed and brought us containers. The waiter came and got the dinner dishes and wanted to get us the check, I asked for dessert he rattled it off as if he was annoyed. We ordered quickly as he was standing there waiting for our order. When dessert arrived it was delivered by the food runner/busser that also delivered the check with the dessert, I guess he figured we didn't need that cappuccino. As we started to eat the dessert one of the gentlemen doing the seating came over and asked my husband if we could leave in the next two minutes cause he needed the table, and took the check with the money. At this point we weren't even in the place a full hour. We were very upset and decided to just leave rather than cause a scene. When we got up to leave the same gentleman was standing with a bottle of windex waiting for us to leave, meanwhile I noticed a table behind me that was still sitting there sipping on coffee and occupied the table from before we came in. Bottom line don't seat us at a table that you are going to need in less than an hour and the gentlemen seating the people, I later found out one of them was the owner. No way to treat a guest, we paid cash or I would have disputed the charge with my credit card. To many nice restaurants in Philadelphia that would never dream of treating a guest like that.

Excellent dining experience. The food, service, and presentation were all first rate. My entree was baramundi with shrimp and clams. I couldn't imagine a better combination. Unlike many dining venues, the meal includes two vegetables which is rare anywhere these days. Reservations are required as walk-ins were being turned away. The only negative is that it was a little loud, but the food compensates for that.

Everything was amazing, good quality food with attention to flavors and quality ingredients. Added bonus that it is a byob.

Called to book and was told they would open half hour earlier for me during Thanksgiving weekend. Arrived and 4 tables were already occupied. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the lemon veal as the entree. Calamari reminded me of traditional Italian cooking. Came with beans, some kale and shrimp in a marinara sauce. Was not what I had anticipated, but boy was this delicious! Mopped up the sauce with the bread (for starters). The lemon veal was cooked to perfection amid the capers, kale and potatoes. Bread did come with a concentrated garlic infused olive oil. The garlic was overpowering, and given we were going to the theater I erred on the side of caution and used it to mop up the delicious sauces. Complimentary tira misu arrived with our cappuccinos. Like Wow! This was a truly melt in the mouth experience. Overall a wonderful little restaurant well worth visiting. Prices were reasonable too. The serving staff could smile a little more though; I know you had to work on Thansgiving and you opened early, but a smila or two would have given you the five stars!

There were four of us attending a comedy show in Philadelphia. My sister recommended Giorgio on Pine as a restaurant that had potential. This was the first time for all of us. The restaurant was bustling with patrons. We had allotted plenty of time to eat before we walked to the comedy club. The waiter was attentive and courteous. Our food was hot and delicious. Our server asked if we wanted any coffee or dessert-we declined because we were nursing a bottle of wine (it is BYOB) and simply chatting. The next thing we know is our server asked us to leave?? Huh? We were barely in the restaurant for an hour! He said there are people waiting for tables. I asked the owner/head host if this is a common occurrence. He said because of Covid we can't have people waiting outside? (I am a healthcare professional and we all know that the trickier part is being inside) I would understand if I parked myself at the table for 3 hours!. This is the second time in 30 years I have been asked to leave a restaurant. Simply put, if there was a warning when we made the reservation that this may happen-I may have been prepared. I do not agree with this policy as I am the paying customer. It was a rude gesture and it is up to the establishment to either reduce the reservations or stop taking reservations for the evening. As a result I will not patronize this establishment in the future and if anyone asks me for a recommendation-it will not be Giorgio on Pine.

Went on a tip and so glad we did! Small quaint and off the beaten path on Pine Street. There were 6 of us for a reunion in Philly - did a walking tour of Philly and ended here. All 6 of us had the best meal ever! Apps: Mussels, calamari and a tomato w/mozz. Spot on- mussels had some sausage mixed in the broth -extra bread called for! Delicious ❤️. Calimari had a very light breading; so tender Dinner: 6 different meals all better than the next! Lobster ravioli, chicken parm, linguini w clams, veal, steak — all well seasoned and prepared, served HOT and for a very busy busy night- promptly and with a smile! On the staff and management- wow, great team all working together to make a very busy Saturday night move the people in/out yet not feel hurried. Our waitress was terrific too!! Dessert: MUST have the tiramisu!! House made and the BEST I have ever had, normally not a dessert I would order but did so on reviews- so glad we did and our whole table said the same thing! Will be back for sure and make your reservations early!!!

Great BYO spot in the theater district. Intimate row home turned restaurant. Phenomenal food (the pork special is amazing), great gluten free menu options, and tirimasu from heaven. Go. Makes reservations.

Authentic Italian food, Giorgio is FROM Italy. A little loud at first, but the good service more than made up for it.

Fantastic destination for a relaxed casual dinner and cheerful neighborhood atmosphere. The owner's name is actually "Giorgio," for what it's worth, and it's byob. No corking fee or anything like that. Food-wise, they offer 100% authentic dishes. The gnocchi got an 8 out of 10 (easily), and the accompanying braised beef ragout was the best I'd ever had. My advice: don't get too adventurous with specials---Just get the gnocci:) Also, don't confuse this with a romantic dinner destination. It's pretty casual and a bit loud. Wonderful, just not romantic.

Fabulous Italian food just like moms, Prosciutto antipasto & linguini with mixed seafood and tirimisu perfect trio and byob .Can't go wrong! And they have gluten free meals.

Fantastic! The owner and staff were gracious, accommodating, super friendly and extremely generous. The food was perfect. There are so many gluten free options to choose from here. Try the gf chocolate cake dessert. The place is quaint but really busy so reservations are highly recommended. We are from NY and honestly felt like we were visiting family! We ended up taking a picture with the owner because he was truly kind to us and our child.

This place is absolutely amazing!. We made reservations for our party of 4for Saturday 3/18/17 for 5pm. We walked in and the place was packed, but they sat us at our table right away. We had to wait no time for our server to tell us the specials. We took a couple of minutes and decided to start with the Sauteed Calamari and the Prosciutto Platter. Both were on point with flavor. We then ordered dinner. 1. The special- Spicy Marinara with jumbo crab meat and shrimp over fresh hand made fettuccine. It was not too spicy that you could not taste anything, just enough for a little bite. the fettuccine was made flawlessly and cooked perfectly. The seafood was fresh and more than anyone expected. 2. Bucatini- The sauce was superb, and the pancetta with shaved onion was perfect to give it a little more. Again the fresh home made pasta was cooked perfectly. 3. Linguini and Clams- All the the clams were perfect, the sauce was just as expected. just the perfect amount of garlic. 4. Veal Melanaze- The Veal was perfectly tender, as was the eggplant. There were no chewy spots at all. The sauce was smooth and just the right addition. It also came with roasted potatoes that were cooked to perfection, and the seasonal green vegetable, which was Kale ( not my favorite but still cook perfectly). While there we did order dessert, because you can't pass up a place that makes fresh creme brulee or their own home made tortufa. Both were fantastic, the creme brulee was the perfect consistency and was so smooth. For all us, including tip it came out to a fantastic price, far less than we were expecting or planning on. The only down fall, is the tea the make/ offer is Lipton but it was by no means a deal breaker. I forgot to mention that Giorgio himself called to confirm my reservation initially, and he is the one that makes the specialty coffee drinks. The open kitchen was a nice touch, and the bread they serve is fantastic. Our waitress was attentive the entire time, making sure our drinks were refilled and we had everything we needed. I will go back very soon!!! PS- It is a very small restaurant so it can get a little loud if it is packed

I cannot say enough good things about Giorgio on Pine! Giorgio himself answered the phone when we called to inquire about visiting for lunch. He is a true gentleman and was very accommodating to my daughter, who has a gluten sensitivity (they have a large gluten-free menu including dessert items!) and my wife who has other dietary restrictions. A pleasure. Oh, and did I mention how much we enjoyed our meals? A must to return to the next time we visit Philadelphia!!

What a GREAT local Italian spot! We have gone to South Philly for years to find what we thought was the best Italian fare. We now have a place in Center City that rivals the best of the best in South Philly! We tried it last night as we actually did takeout due to the current virus concerns (a family member had weak immunity). It was so nice to see a top shelf restaurant like this actually do a truly wonderful meal for us to take home....they were so nice about it. The owners are clearly hands on as in any great spot and they were so helpful and on their game. You hear so much locally about their food and it did not disappoint. The gnocchi were truly special...as was the vodka blush sauce we had them put on it. Several family members were raving about the Veal with Lemon....but truthfully there was not one bad food item in our entire order. The sauces are so good and homemade tasting. We made a reservation to come back in early April as we want to enjoy the great atmosphere we saw when we picked up the food (and we drove all the way in from the suburbs). I would certainly call it fine dining from a quality standpoint but once you taste the food, you really get a sense of true value. It's really a special spot from our first experience....we'll be going back often. One note...a great place like this is busy....we'd suggest calling ahead for a reservation. It's a truly special spot.

Small Italian restaurant with super good service. The staff is friendly! On the other hand, the place is extremely noisy, even deafening. Impossible to chat between us. It’s a BYOB restaurant. Very generous portion. Prices are a bit high.

What a delightful restaurant this is. Great atmosphere and excellent food. The Italian bread with garlic oil and roasted cloves of garlic sets things off beautifully. My kale salad with anchovy dressing was delicious as was the best linguine I've ever had. The wife's Spaghetti with Shrimp and Vodka sauce was thoroughly enjoyed. No alcohol sold here although you can bring your own. It was all so good that we've booked for our last night in Philadelphia.

Great experience despite a very busy Saturday night. Owner interaction made it even better. He absolutely spoke to every table. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. Calamari, burrata, lobster ravioli excellent. We have not been in Philly due to the Pandemic. This was the perfect place for a ‘welcome back’

I wish this restaurant was in my neighborhood. The food was delicious, actually exceptional. And at this price point? Unbelievably good value. Service was good and ambience comfortable. The lobster ravioli was divine, as was everything we enjoyed. The noise level was a little on the high side; however, there were three celebratory parties seated near us. Reservations are highly recommended. Delicious. BYOB.

We have been to Giorgio's twice now, both times with a crowd (12 one time, 18 another). The service has been excellent both times. Yes it's loud and crowded but that's part of the experience of an authentic Italian restaurant. Appetizers for the table included the gnocchi (excellent) and the salad special (very good). Entrees included the seafood pescatore (very good), fettuccine bolognese (excellent), veal chop with mushrooms (very good), and the branzino fish special (just fair). The thyme seasoning on the fish special was overpowering (and that's from 2 guests). Desserts were also very good. Strongly suggest sticking with the homemade pasta dishes which were all excellent.

Converted from what looks to be an old house, the small restaurant delivers some very good and authentic Italian food. It is quite odd seeing 2 liter bottles of vodka and bottles of wine on people’s table. We did not bring any wine and the nearest liquor store sells only beer, so beware! Luckily the table next to us had some extra bottles they were willing to sell - Too bad their two buck chuck didn’t match the quality of the food from Giorgio on Pine.

Some friends and I decided to try this restaurant because it had a pretty decent gluten free selection. We weren’t disappointed. One friend had a dish with gluten free pasta. She was happy to report that the pasta didn’t taste like mushy cardboard as most gluten free pasta does. Service was excellent.

The food here is good but not great. There are better Italian options in Philadelphia. It gets a positive nod for having gluten free options. My husband's pork was tasty and my friend's veal was as well. My salad was so-so but my pasta was fine. The dining room is small and there is nowhere to stand while waiting for you reservation. The tables are incredibly close to each other and THE NOISE - oh my. It was awful. There was a group of 8 who had a bit much to drink and they were shouting. Literally shouting. The server would not tell them to tone it down. Even after they left it was too loud for conversation. We won't be back. I note others have complained about the noise for years and apparently they do an ok business because it seems no effort has been taken to ameliorate it.

This is a terrific Southern Italian Restaurant with lots of pasta options. It is tiny, loud, and intimate. Brick walls, unisex bathrooms, with another dining room upstairs. It is really a converted townhouse with an open kitchen. The food is very good, reasonably priced, with HUGE portions. It is also BYOB. The Owner is actively working the room to ensure you are happy. This is a wonderful spot for a first date or pre-theatre. If you have out of town guests who want a true taste of “Philly Italian”? This is a great choice

There are not enough entries extolling this high end ‘bring your own wine’ establishment. We went on spec and were given a table for a cancelling couple on the spot. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night in early Jan with a young clientele; we are over 60 so felt like everyone’s parents! The food is genuinely exceptional; Lobster ravioli and linguine clams as the mains were sublime.

A very small Italian restaurant, so worth the wait! This restaurant, although set in a former house, may just have some of the best Italian food that I have every had! On top of enormous portions, the price was very reasonable for downtown Philadelphia. Definitely our go to restaurant in Philadelphia.

We had dinner here on a Sunday evening (with reservations) and were greeted at the door by the owner, Giorgio. Quaint setting with great service and even better food. We enjoyed the grilled ceasar salad, two pastas, and wonderful desserts. High recommend this place!!

Eating out with a Celiac diner is always a challenge. But when the staff bring GF bread and oil, and most of the menu is GF or can be made GF, you know you are in the right place. The Mellon, Mozzarella, Prosciutto appetizer was clearly a stand out. The Gnocchi were also very good. Each entree stood on its owe strengths. The Crema Brûlée was deemed best ever.

Went on a Friday night at 7 and knew it was going to be crowded but I didn't realize how small the place is. VERY small. And LOUD. No carryout but they were willing to seat me as a single which was nice or I would have had to find something else. Had the rigatoni in white wine garlic sauce and it was ok. Prices were reasonable.

We were a group of 5 and loved our dinner here. The food was excellent - from the appetizers, entrees and dessert. Some of us ordered off the menu and the others orders specials, such as the pork chops and lobster ravioli which were all great. Service was great and BYOB is a plus too!

I am so glad some family members took me out to dinner here! I cannot wait to go back. Warning: the place is small. On chilly nights you might get sat near the door and it's a constant flood of people trying to get in and have delicious food. We had to sit near the door, which was not ideal due to the cold air. The food was so good I barely noticed. I had fusilli pasta with peas on a tomato cream sauce. It was wonderful. We had a mussel and clam app and tiramisu and chocolate cake for dessert. The desserts were comped because we had such a bad table. As stated, the owner really takes makes an effort to talk to you and assure you are enjoying your meal. It's classic...I will be back!!

There was no doubt that this is a favorite of many as the line waiting outside on a cold winters night was substantial. Having read the reviews our expectations were for a cozy, friendly Italian restaurant serving special high quality and Italian American favorites. What we got was the one of loudest restaruant and tightly packed closet sized restaurants ever experienced. Certianly a neighborhood favorite servicing food that is ok, nothing special, at a high average price for this area of Philadelphia. Is is a BYOB which could be part of the attraction. The owner greets you with a stern, confused and unpleasant demenior. The service considering the inches between tables was friendly and efficient. Happily I will leave this establishment for the throngs of locals waiting to be packed in. I am always vexed by the outstanding reviews of places that I find almost average at best. My suggestion is review the list of Italian restaurants here and choose another; that is unless you know this place and find it as many others do in review here.

We found the food "good" not great. This is not inventive or revelatory food. Think "home cooking" - but not the best you've had. The Bolognese and Marsala sauces were both a bit "watery/runny". The portions were large but not overwhelming. Price point was very reasonable. Giorgio stopped by and greeted each table and the service was very friendly and competent.

We had a great early dinner at Giorgio’s last week. The lobster ravioli was excellent as was the Osso Buco. Service was very prompt and efficient but not rushed. Contrary to expectations, the noise level permitted easy conversation. Will return and recommend to all. The BYO aspect is also welcome.

Good food, good service, great prices, and a nice, traditional, down-to-earth vibe. The noise level was OK when we arrived a bit after 5:30 on a Friday, but an hour later it was deafening and conversation was difficult.

Giorgio on Pine was recommended by a friend of a friend who dines at the finest Philadelphia restaurants so my expectations were very high. Giorgio greets you as you enter and you know right away that he means to show you a good meal. Seating was tight and there happened to be a birthday party and a bachelorette party going on so I would guess that it was a bit louder than usual. Had my standard carpaccio opener and it was superb. The waiter talked me out of the veal with prosciutto and into the pork chop. Absolutely great call. One of the best pork chops that I have ever had. Perfectly cooked despite being almost 2 inches thick. I did add salt so if you think so, by all means, do so. It is byob wine and we were prepared with a fine Bosco Donne Barbera. My colleagues had good looking dishes of pasta bolognese and chicken parm. I taste the parm and it was excellent. Giorgio intervened for dessert and while I was intending to get the NY cheesecake, he assigned me the creme brulee. Again, great call, it was perfect and I am picky about the smoothness and consistency of the creme. Perfect. Summary: great food, good service (via recommendations) and I love it when the owner is on the floor interacting with customers. Prices were very reasonable. Bring the best wine you have as you will pair better.

This place knocked my socks off! I was impressed with the staff and the food, it was a wonderful dinning experience which can be difficult when you can't eat gluten. The pasta was amazing and I was very surprised when they brought out gluten free bread with roasted garlic on the side, as well as gluten free dessert. We will most certainly be back!

Excellent recipes, thoughtful service, and reasonable prices. Giorgio on Pine is everything an Italian restaurant should be! I wish there were a comparable restaurant back home. Bring a bottle of wine and savor the experience!

We ate here on a busy Friday night and had a very good meal with excellent service. pasta's were very good, the appetizers were excellent and the pork chop was especially good. Considering the very reasonable prices and friendly service this was a very good stop.

Worth the wait. Food very good. My daughter in law, goes crazy over the rack of lamb BYOB was offered. A bit overpriced but my son paid for it all Downside, Too many people , a sardine can dinner is really not the best for us us Whizzers, Millenials the boys in the gayborhood love it , but too much noise for ole Dad Still we keep going back and enjoying the new age experience

There was a wait for our table despite reservations, but the owner talked to us several times to make sure we knew they were working on it. The place was VERY loud, but that's because everyone was having such a great time. The food was great, but was slow to be brought out, but it was all steaming hot when delivered. The owner stopped at our table and talked to us for a while and even gave us a couple of free deserts to share among the 9 of us!!! Thanks Georgio!

I really enjoy this spot and I come here almost every time I can make it into Philly. The food and service are great and I love the decor!!

Every time we go the service and food was excellent. Georgio is the perfect host. It is on pine st in center city Philadelphia.

We arrived late for our 6 pm reservations prior to seeing a show at the Academy of Music. The owner went over the top getting us seated and even taking our order himself to have our meals ready so we could relax and enjoy delicious desserts. He suggested the homemade pasta which I tried and it was the best Italian dish I have ever had. Small restaurant but it adds to the charm. We will be back as we were that impressed with the whole experience. Thanks Giorgio!

I wanted steak and they had a ribeye in barolo wine sauce with mushrooms. It exceeded all my expectations. It was cooked perfectly and I loved the sauce! It was only $27. The bread before dinner is served with the best baked garlic. It's so creamy that it's decadent. Oh, I also loved the spinach which was sauteed with garlic. I already want to go back. I bet the veal is just as good as the steak. I'm Italian and am scared to get the pasta because I'm really picky about sauce; Ralph's sauce is like my family's because we're both from Naples. The steak was so good that I may risk it.

I was meeting friends from LA in Philadelphia for a lay over. We wanted Italian and tried Giorgio's. I decided on the bucatini. Our server said it was good. She was wrong! It was great! It was one of the best marinara sauces I've ever tried - and I travel frequently to Italy. My friends had the linguine and lobster ravioli. They were equally impressed. Also, the bread with the side of oil and garlic was a lovely presentation and the taste was amazing . The owner is a gem. He visits every table to welcome him s guests. He sent us dessert- tiramisu. Delicious! Particularly the crust. I can't wait to return and try another dish!

I REALLY enjoyed the excellent food at this BYOB Italian Restaurant. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy a conversation with my partner because the noise level was crazy loud. We both LOVED the food, but the dining experience was marred by horrible acoustics.

There are 2 Giorgios on Pine the one I am reviewing is 1334 Pine a much quieter place and better ambiance. The food was spectacular and the service was even better. While the regular menu is very nice the specials were excellent and we got three of them for two people. Also the burratta appetizer was delicious. They let us sit as long as we liked and didn't hover just checked in in a timely manor. Will for sure go again and it is close to the Academy of Music, the Kimmel and the Wilma.

You are squeezed in this place - much like a big Christmas family dinner - where everyone is welcome and made to feel like the party wouldn't be the same if you weren't there! The staff and especially Giorgio just add to the great, big welcome. Great ambiance and yes, you might have to wait outside quite a while for your table to be ready - even with a reservation, but that is simply because no one wants to leave! Oh....and the food - none better! We had three appetizers and three main pasta dishes - all under $85. I already know what I am getting next visit....unless the specials entice me otherwise. Don't miss out - be patient and wait because once you are inside, you are home!

Three of our group of four had dined here previously and the food has been quite good. This was also the case on Saturday. We were looking for a place to dine outside on a beautiful night during the pandemic craziness and Giorgio’s did not disappoint. Food and service were exceptional and we had a nice table for four out on the sidewalk. Two specials (a pork chop and a fish dish) and two orders of gnocchi with braised beef ragout were delicious. The waiter and the owner were both wonderful and added a personal touch to the dining experience. Dessert was excellent also.

We found Georgio on Pine our first night in Philadelphia. It was a short walk from our hotel and we love Italian food, so it was perfect. We liked it so much we came back a second time. On our first visit we both ordered from the menu, my husband had a pasta dish and I had veal. We shared a caprese salad. All were very good. The owner, Georgio, came around to check on us and see how we'd liked everything. We said we loved it, but were too full for dessert. So, he sent over a piece of tiramisu for us to share. It was delicious! On our second visit we again shared a caprese salad, and we both ordered one of the pasta specials for the evening, the homemade fettucine with sausage, fresh mushrooms and marinara. Again, delicious. This is a BYOB restaurant.

While visiting Philly, we found Giorgio's on Pine by chance. We have 2 gluten allergies in our family and the options were plentiful. We started with the mussels and clams appetizer and sweet Italian sausage. Both were fantastic. Gluten free bread was available along with plenty of Italian bread and garlic oil. I had the daily special pork chop which was huge and perfectly cooked. Gluten free pastas were excellent and the red sauce and vodka sauces were delicious. Dessert consisted of gluten free chocolate torte, tiramisu and chocolate cake. All were excellent. Our server Giovanni was excellent and the owner Giorgio stopped by our table several times to check on our meal and converse with us about where we were from and his experiences there. It was a great experience. I would recommend reservations as seating is limited.

We have been wanting to try Georgio's for quite some time and when my wife's sister said she would be in town and wanted to meet for dinner at a BYOB, Georgio's was suggested. It was tight quarters with a couple of large parties occupying the room, and our seats were next to the kitchen, but we made do, Our waitress seemed anxious for us to order and we were in no rush. The food was very good and we were out of there in short time, and that took away from the dining experience.

Giorgio on Pine is a cozy gem nestled on the corner of a side street. We stumbled upon it when walking back to our hotel on Broad Street from the Convention Center. What a find! The food was delicious. I had the spaghetti with vodka sauce and my friend enjoyed her pasta as well. We shared a tiramisu for dessert, and you definitely don't want to miss out on that! I would recommend Giorgio's to any one and hope to stop back before leaving town.

In from NC for a wedding. Had dinner with family on a Friday night (2/16). Arguably the best Italian meal we've ever had. Yes, the place is small & somewhat noisy; but, owner and food was great. Not for groups over 4 people for best service.

Have been to Giorgio on Pine a few times now - mostly recently for my birthday in August, Servers are knowlegable and friendly and the owner is also warm and friend, frequently stopping by tables to say hello. From appetizers to the specials for the evening, the food is absolutely some of the best around, impressing even some of my most picky Italian friends. The Sauteed Calamari appetizer with baby shrimp and cannellini beans was a perfect start and our entrees of lobster ravioli with crab meat and the fish special of the evening was to die for! An incredible chocolate cake dessert and a round of espresso along with the well wishes for a Happy Birthday from the owner in Italian made the night absolutely perfect.

We planned to take 2 of our Grandchildren to see STOMP in Philadelphia on Dec 28th and I looked for a nice place for lunch that was also within walking distance. Giorgio on Pine has 2 dining areas, one with a handful of tables and another area close by. We were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. My wife and I had one of the Veal dishes and its was excellent. My granddaughter had a thin pesto pizza and my grandson had pasta. Both were great! Three of us had dessert and I had a good Espresso. We had a great lunch and this very cold day in Philadelphia.

My wife and I ate here for the first time and were seated at an outside table along the building wall with no indoor dining due to Covid restrictions. We ordered Spaghetti a la Vodka and Spaghetti Primavera. Food was served hot and delicious in portions so large we took home about half - especially after the serving of warm bread with a side of roasted garlic and olive oil. Service was very good for a busy night, and Giorgio was a warm and gracious host.

This is a well hidden gem in a city of great food. The service was excellent and the staff was most welcoming. The dishes were delicious from appetizer to dessert. BYOB allowed my friends and me to splurge a little.

We found this place when staying downtown 2 years ago. When we decided to go to Philly for a couple of games, the first thing we did was make a reservation to dine here again. Just as the last time their food is magnificent. Lobster ravioli delicious, calamari for appetizer is yummy, the beat salad was great, & the roasted garlic in olive oil with delicious bread is hard to stop eating! Of course we decided to eat here the next night and I had the special which was sweet potato gnocchi… I’m not a gnocchi fan, but I could eat this every night!!! Giorgio was in the restaurant & it’s obvious the success of his restaurant is his desire to make everything perfection. Our server Nick - GREAT & another reason we will return! I look forward to the next time we’re back in Philadelphia & I know we will be eating here each night!

My wife and I went into town one evening to go to Giorgio on Pine. They have really great pasta dishes. We decided on dishes that were not on the specials list and I commented (jokingly) that we should order one of the specials as well, a crab meat ravioli. Our waitress asked us if we would like an appetizer size, which was not on the menu (a great idea). Also we mentioned that we forgot our wine back at our hotel and she came out with a 1/2 bottle already open bottle from which we each had a glass at no charge. Just enough to check the box of "wine with dinner". So all-in-all I loved the food, the atmosphere is nice and out waitress was fantastic. I'm not sure what else I would want in an Italian restaurant.

Ate here on July 16. The food was absolutely fabulous and the owner is the sweetest man. However, I cannot give 5 stars because our server (Jamie) was literally the rudest waitress we have had in more than 40 years of dining experience in cities all over the world. She was obnoxious to our guests, frustrated when we asked her to repeat something because she spoke a mile a minute (and the restaurant in general is very very noisy), we had to keep asking for items, and then literally walked away while we were ordering coffee and dessert because we were not fast enough for her. She then angrily waved us off when we asked her to please come back and finish our order. The owner was very apologetic. Despite her nastiness, I left her a very generous 50 tip that she DID NOT deserve but also a note telling her she was very “mean” and should be nicer to customers. She then chased us down outside and ruined our night screaming at us on the corner in front of our guests. Will never return.

Some of the best Italian food I've ever had in the states. Get the homemade pasta, it is to die for. Phenomenal service. Cozy atmosphere. Great location not far from the theater district. I will certainly be back again.

Went here to celebrate our grown son's birthday. The owner was very helpful in finding us a table quickly, we didn't have a reservation. The food and service were both excellent. It is however very loud during dinner.

We were a large group that came after a show at Suzanne Roberts theater. Our reservations were for 6 people but there were 8 of us. It was a crowded Sunday evening and, thankfully, they accommodated us. The food is remarkable. Everyone enjoyed everything we ordered. The chocolate cake is some of the best I have had. We will definitely be back. If you go, you will certainly not be disappointed and make sure you make a reservation.

We were staying in the center of the city and were looking for a place for dinner which was also BYOB in a quieter neighborhood. And what a find! It was a Sunday night and we waited a short time for a table and the dinner did not disappoint. Giorgio was clearly running the show and did fabulous job and was friendly and accommodating. You will not be disappointed with Giorgios!

This gem on Pine Street is a must when in Philadelphia. The food was absolutely amazing. They were able to squeeze us in on a very business Sunday night. Definitely make a reservation! The mozzarella appetizer was fantastic. I had the gnocchi and it did not disappoint. Friends had eggplant Parm and the ribeye. We finished with cappuccino, espresso, crème brûlée and tiramisu. Everything was wonderful and service was excellent. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go here for a while and finally went with our Valentine’s Day reservations. They had a preset menu but still offered their gluten free pasta which was really nice. It’s BYOB which is great too. Cute ambiance inside.

- Read great reviews and decided to try this restaurant. - Wasn’t impressed with the food presentation and it wasn’t worth the price. - They bring out bread and after you order, olive oil was extremely garlicky. Had about 4-5 pieces of garlic in the tiny bowl of oil. - Ate on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded. Good service. - Seems like they added more seating to accommodate more people, but it would make it very crowded for dinner time. - Near city hall - BYOB - One restroom. - No free parking near the restaurant.

My new ritual is to get a slice or two from Giogio's before my 1/2 marathon race. The vegetable pizza is very good and I also love the pepperoni!!! Nice big slices!!!

If you look at my reviews, I usually write positive reviews. I waited, as I wanted this experience to fade before I reviewed the restaurant. I booked this restaurant a week ahead of a visit to Philadelphia for my husband's birthday and was promised a call from Giorgio. I did not receive a call. After dressing up for a special occasion, we arrived twenty minutes ahead, and the place was clearly overbooked. Giorgio was in a dither, not friendly, told us to come back, said when customers brought their own wine, they stayed too long. Our blond blue-eyed daughter got more attention when we returned. This time, we were walked to the Pizzeria two doors away with the promise of the same dinner and service. There we had bent-up cheap tableware on a bare table. I think we received a cloth napkin later. Since we were there to celebrate together, we decided to make the best of the situation. Our daughter's pasta dish was what she expected, she had had it before on previous business trips. My husbands steak was overcooked, tough. I ordered the Eggplant dis, thin slices, overcooked, impossible to cut. They asked me to pick another dish. The long-awaited replacement Salmon was overcooked and mushy. We found out the chef (whose name was on the menu) had left. Hopefully, the chef issue has been resolved. I know reviews can be damaging, hence the judicious wait. On the other hand, reviews can improve the experience for the next people celebrating a milestone. This was our first visit to Philadelphia, and we know the city is filled with good restaurants. If you are overbooked, please let the customer know. The reservation system needs improvement. The young lady did not charge me for my entree, and I did not mention the Salmon was overcooked, too. I love to cook creative food, so this was a disappointment. We would have been better off with the pizza.

Giorgio on Pine is Italian food and service at it's best. We found this restaurant by chance before the theater and had an outstanding meal with first class service. Reservations are a must because it gets really full, packed with happy people, smiling staff and BYOB at it's best. Cant say enough about the menu, specials and food. Delicious. We ordered an appetizer to split the classic carpaccio and each had a pasta, Lobster ravioli and gnocchi, everything was outstanding.

I visited Giorgio's last evening with a friend. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. The first thing I noticed as I went through the restaurant to our table was the open kitchen and, unfortunately, one of the loudest restaurants that I have ever been in. But, I got used to the the high level of noise after a while. We shared a wonderful appetizer consisting of fresh tomatoes covered in the largest and whitest crab meat that I have ever seen. There was a drizzle of a vey light lemon vinaigrette that was awesome. For those of you who follow me, you may know that I am a bread aficionado. Bread here is excellent - crusty with a moist interior. It was served with a garlicy EVOO dip. My friend had the salmon dinner served with vegetables and potatoes which he claimed was cooked perfectly. I had the rigatoni in a sausage marinara sauce. The taste was excellent but the pasta was a bit over cooked for my liking. I will certainly give this place another go. Apparently, a lot of people like this small gem since there were a number of people waiting outside for tables.

We came in town to visit and took the family out for dinner. This is simply amazing! The price is affordable, the food is delicious, the service was fantastic. If you are ever in the area you simply must eat here.

We came to Giorgio on Pine before our Walnut Street show. The service was very good- attentive but not overbearing. We had the mussels and clams and blt salad to start. The salad was very tasty and the sauce with the seafood was amazing to dip the bread into. We all ordered specials for our meals - fettuccine with salmon; seared tuna; sweet potato gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce. All were delicious! We finished off our meals with cappuccinos and caramel ice cream, tiramisu, and creme brûlée. We loved them all. Giorgio's was a great choice!

I have been to Giorgio on Pine a handful of times for different occasions.... birthdays, girl's night, and date night. Although this restaurant is small and ALWAYS crowded, it is totally worth it! Every time I go I have seen the owner and he always makes sure we are satisfied. The food must be ordered all at once and does come out rather fast. The prosciutto app is to die for with thinly sliced meat and creamy mozzarella. I have tried a few pasta dishes, but go with the gnocchi! It is homemade and so light and fluffy. You will be in luck if they have the sweet potato gnocchi on special. Words cannot describe how amazing it is! As for dessert, we always receive a free tiramisu on birthdays, but the creme brulee is phenomenal. Whenever someone is visiting, I always try to make a reservation to Giorgio. Yes, you NEED a reservation! They accept credit cards and are also BYOB ... you can't go wrong!

the bread was cold and soggy my clams where cold in the pasta I was sat next to the door food was the worst I ever had waited my time and money

I brought FORTY people to this restaurant for a very special dinner celebration last week and the event TOTALLY EXCEEDED my expectations. I sat down with the gracious Mr. Giorgio in advance of the dinner and we created a sublime three-course menu. No one could believe how delicious it all was -- the heavenly gnocchi, ravioli, chicken and salmon were outstanding! Several commented that it was the BEST gnocchi that they had ever tasted in their lives! The tiramisu and chocolate cake for dessert were a real treat. Giorgio and his staff kept checking in all night long to be sure that we were well served and did not have one unmet need. So what are you waiting for? With a warm and welcoming host, SO many gluten free options, exceptional wait staff with the most courteous service and NO corkage fee, you should book a table ASAP. This is one friendly trattoria that you will want to return to again and again!

We went to Giorgio's on Pine for my daughter's graduation dinner. I arrived late and the rest of my family was already eating. The ambience of the restaurant is not fancy its more small busy and very friendly. I arrived to see four cleaned off plates from the rest of my family that had arrived on time. That is always a very good sign that the food was excellent!! Upon my arrival our server Steven presented me with what my family had ordered for me. I have NEVER seen a pork chop of that size!! I immediately wanted to see if the meal matched the excellent presentation of the pork chop, spinach and potatoes. In short it was far beyond delicious it was heavenly!! I couldn't finish the entire pork chop ( which rarely ever happens) and will tell you without shame that I woke up the next day looking forward to completing what I started. The facility is small but space is generously provided for the fortunate customers that know of this gem. Steven's service was exceptional and looking around all of the other customers seemed extremely pleased and well cared for. This is an exceptional Italian restaurant and I highly recommend it. Parking in Center City Philadelphia is ample after 5PM and several lots are in close proximity.

Roach 3 inches long on wall next to my head. I screamed. Waitress came. Owner came. They both shrugged and walked away. No apology, nothing. The waitress said to owner, Its another gutter bug.

Giorgio on Pine is a quaint Italian restaurant with exceptional food, friendly, efficient service, and an inviting atmosphere. We always look forward to going there before or after concerts when we are in the theater and concert area - near Broad Street. It's a winner.

Giorgio's is our go to restaurant when we're in the city. The owner is hand's on and treats all of his guests like they're old friends. If he has the Bolognese as a special it's a definite must. Had a friend in town recently from Connecticut and he had heard about this great little spot from a neighbor of his. Took him there and he loved it.

Cozy authentic Italian restaurant, with quaint location near center city. Our waitress, Valentina, from Naples, was a delight. She provided excellent service despite the restaurant being packed for Wed night. The owner,Giorgio, has created a menu that my Italian husband felt like he was eating at home. The gnocchi are made fresh daily, and this is a must to try. The tiramisu was very light and one of the best I've tasted. Remember to BYOB. While you can't make reservations online, you can call. Based on how busy it was for Wed, I would strongly recommend calling ahead for a table.

Crowded and homey, we were not only welcomed, but visited several times by the owner. Sausage and polenta appetizer was excellent. Entrees were plentiful and very good. But the creme brulee.....the best I've had in recent memory. Would go back just for the dessert. Service was friendly and efficient, and we did not feel rushed. It was an evening at the symphony, so Giorgio's was an easy stroll to the Kimmel center, and to parking.

Delicious dinner! Best kale salad ever and the entrees were so good. Loved the bucatini! Great service too. You need to call and make a reservation though!!

Yes, he sure does meet you at the door! Even though we had confirmed our (pre-theater) reservation twice by phone, it was not in "the book". Said we had to stand for a while (was 30 minutes at the door) to see if he could fit us in even though there were empty tables that were not even filled when we did get seated. Very tight quarters so you could literally eat off the next table! Food was good - but visit was not worth the attitude, aggrevation, and noise.....

Sometimes, a tourist gets lucky and finds a local gem. Giorgio on Pine is an excellent example of this. My wife and I had been touring Philadelphia for a few days, and decided to try Giorgio's for our final dinner. The restaurant is small, but inviting. They have a BYOB policy, and did not charge a corkage fee. My wife had the linguine. Her portion was enormous, but she managed to eat about 2/3s of it. I had a few bites, and thought it was very tasty. I had the veal with lemon, served in a delicate wine sauce. The veal was very tender. The portion was large (but not as huge as my wife's). We shared a large slice of chocolate cake, which we enjoyed in our hotel room later that night. The prices are reasonable for the area. Please note the sound level is a little on the high side, but that was due to everyone appearing to enjoy their food. We would certainly consider coming back during a future trip to Philadelphia.

We have been here many times. The food is wonderful. Our reservation was for 5 pm. Arrived on time and were seated. Apps and dinner came out quick. At 540 we just finished dinner. We stated we wanted to finish our wine before dessert. Then would order. They brought us the check! We said we needed a few minutes. One of the older waiters can over and told us they needed our table. We were there 50 minutes. We felt very rushed and very they allow an hour or less for tables for 2. It honestly affected our dining experience in a very negative fashion. Usually tables are extracted for an hour and a half. I was extremely disappointed. .

Excellent food and service. Our waiter Steven was attentive, friendly and helpful. I ordered a gluten-free pasta and they brought me gluten free bread without my asking. The gluten free pasta was good. I will go again the next time I am in Philadelphia.

Fantastic pasta options and a lively atmosphere at this great value local BYOB would highly recommend

We recently had dinner here for the first time and it was one of the first post-lockdown meals we had. I could eat my way through the entire menu at Giorgio but I was hanging for a steak and their delicious rib-eye did not disappoint. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are very reasonable. Everything we ate was delicious but that was only part of the experience. The genuine hospitality at this restaurant is remarkable. Despite all the hardship they have suffered during COVID, everyone had a smile on their face and extended a warm welcome. When Giorgio heard we hadn't left room for dessert, he came by with tiramisu to-go, with his compliments. And THAT beautiful, kind gesture is why we are going back with friends next weekend and as often as we can thereafter.

This is some of the best Italian food in Philadelphia. I love the grilled Ceaser salad and the calamari app! The grilled parm is so good!

Small place but the food was excellent, as was the service. Best ravioli I have ever had, my husband loved the fettucine bolognese. The tiramisu and chocolate cake were the most awesome homemade desserts ever, too! Can't rave enough about this place!

We dined here for a rehearsal dinner, and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The meal began with a selection of appetizers served family style--calamari with white beans and shrimp, a prosciutto plate with fresh mozzarella, an exceptionally good grilled Caesar salad, and a caprese plate. Guests had their choice of four entrees. I chose the parmesan cheese-crusted chicken, served with marinara--a bit dry and over-sauced, but good--while my spouse and daughter had the linguine and clams, an ample portion that brought smiles all around. Our son enjoyed the rigatoni with sausage. Service was excellent, even for such a large group (30 or so), and Giorgio appeared several times to make sure all was going well. Diners should note this is a BYOB place, but that poses no problem. The restaurant is well located, in the arts district, and it's clearly a popular spot. We'll definitely visit again.
Felt like we were in Italy…
Maybe the best Italian meal we’ve ever had (outside of our cousin’s home in Italy)! Wonderful crusty bread with garlic oil, lobster ravioli with shrimp and asparagus in creamy tomato sauce, and bolognese meat/tomato sauce over rigatoni. Tiramisu and tartufo desserts capped it all off. Cheerful, accommodating server. Felt like we were in Italy….
