Only Great place to watch a sunset in Little Italy bartenders appeared confused and augured abit Had drinks just ok Area needs another place to see the sunset over the bay

I only had breakfast here and afternoon coctails. Good service, excellent and simple breakfast, great views.

Housed in a renovated old motel this long stylish bar overlooks the bay. I don't mind the hidden gem feel and the Wonka-esque elevator ride to the top. I love random and the place is very much that. My usual places in Little Italy are Barbusa and Crack Shack - both have unique hand crafted cocktails and amazing food with great happy hour prices. I was ready to find a 3rd place especially with such a great view. The drinks are actually more expensive then the other places I mentioned. The hand crafted cocktails were probably what I would end up with if I tried to make the fancier ones - very middle of the road and a cute attempt. The food was disappointing and very expensive as well. No complaints about the service and I appreciated the unique decor. No edison light bulbs here and I loved the glass bar counter. Anyways, my money would have went further at the other great choices in the area and would have been more freshly prepared options. I won't return to this bar/restaurant but I appreciate what they did with the space. If you do go make sure you check out the 'rooftop pool' on the top floor. It caught my eye in the elevator directory and I had to check it out. It was hilarious ;)

Great experience awesome customer service with clean room! Would definitely recommend and come to visit again!

We came into glass door for happy hour. Had a delicious pineapple mango mule. Then we had the duck fries. YUM!! Charles was our bartender and he was great. Good conversation and awesome drinks. We will definitely be back!!

Breakfast was included in the room fee at the Porto Vista Hotel. The Glass Door Restaurant is where the breakfast was served. Nice staff and good proportions. Looks like a bar scene in the evening.

Excellent service, beautiful place to watch the sunset. Good drinks and great food. Nice vibe. Worth checking out.

Food was great, servers were friendly and views were nice. The voucher for breakfast was a nice touch for our reservation. The happy hour was a little weak, and that server was not friendly or even understandable. But the morning crew was excellent!

After showing up and sitting down at dinner time, we were sent home because they "ran out of food." Pretty unprofessional, won't be going back. Could've at least offered a gift card or something for the inconvenience. Instead, they simply pointed us toward the exit.

I understand They have a new chef. I could see and taste the difference. Great views, friendly staff. all good.

First things first this place is UNDERSTAFFED! I'm not sure what the management is thinking but I counted 45 people in the place yesterday and literally one bartender/server/busser/cashier. Chrissy was completely alone and doing everything. She was running so much I'm sure she lost some weight during her shift! Brunch was really a disaster. The food was cold by the time it arrived. I don't mean it wasn't piping hot, it was cold. The cheese on our dishes had coagulated and was sitting out way too long. Honestly I wanted to argue the bill as nothing we ordered was either good or served in a timely fashion. It really was not Chrissy's fault however as she was honestly doing the best she could. It was clearly poor management. The bottomless drinks were great albeit not the same price as the website mentioned. Bloody's were $15 and Mimosas were $12. They did have cheap liquor but that's true with any place and it was all a bit slow due to there only being one person working in the entire place. All in all until this place is managed by someone that has a clue and at least a little common sense, don't bother.

I can't say enough good things about my new favorite bartender/magician, Jersey! My BF and I were here Wednesday and I just had to pick it again for Thursday's ladies night out. THANKFULLY, Jersey was working again. She can make you whatever you can, or can't, think of! She really gets to know her customers and will treat you like you deserve. See you soon Jersey.

a great place to eat, situated on top of the hotel. the food is amazing, the staff are superb, the views are truely breath taking..the choice of food and beverages is huge..a superb time and would return in a heart beat

The best part of the Glass Door Restaurant & Bar is the view. We visited for dessert and were disappointed. First they were out of the Bread Pudding and the Oreo Cheesecake is served in a small mug. The menu looks good and the view is priceless. We will be back soon.

Horrible service! The waitress was so rude. She took our drink order and food order and never helped us again and then got attitude when I asked her for our bill.

I had dinner and breakfast at the Glass Door, located in the Porto Vista Hotel. We had dinner first and it was amazing. There was three of us and we each ordered something different, every one of us enjoyed our meal and the price was amazing. The next morning we had breakfast, the choices were limited but what we had was again; amazing. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and everyone was very friendly.

What a view! What a nice surprise! Great Breakfast to get my morning started; Eggs, Sausage, Toast, Fresh Fruit, Returning for drinks this afternoon ☺️ Thanks DJ Castillo!

The Glass Door has a great vibe. The muni is comfort food with a Mediterranean emphasis. We started with the duck fries which could have fed four people. My wife had the short ribs which were awesome. My duck breast was not so good. Our hard working server Kimberly was cheerful and very helpful while she single handedly waited on the whole house. After finishing our meal we had one last cocktail at the nice outdoor bar overlooking the marina.

This restaurant was in our hotel and we had the breakfast package. They serve a very good breakfast! More than enough food to start your day. Service was also good.

We stayed at the Porto Vista for a few days and popped into the bar Tuesday night for a drink. We intended to stay for only ONE drink and move on, but the view of the water and Little Italy, coupled with our awesome bartender made us stick around for three drinks. We just had gin & tonics, but had tried some of their happy hour cocktails previously and they were good. Definitely a cool place to come for a drink, and go on a Tuesday so you can chat with Krissy. She's fun!

Some go for the night life.... Drinks and cocktails are very nice overlooking the city and bay. I like breakfast with the propane heaters that take off the chill.

I am elated that Jersey is back at the Glass Door! Not only is she back but she's actually bartending at Top Of The Bay as well as down at the restaurant. If you have not yet had the opportunity to have Jersey make you a drink let me tell you what you've been missing: a warm greeting, a delicious drink, and top notch service. All capped off with a hug bigger than the lady herself. Now that Jersey is back, Glass Door has become part of our happy hour rotation once again! Oh, and that view!!

I don't know if that's a good thing or bad. The view is amazing when you walk out to the deck at night at the 'Glass Door'. But the inside this restaurant/bar is dark and dingy at night. It really could use a face lift with some new furniture, paint and paper. Lighting hangs from the ceiling like a lighting store. But the old discolored lenses on the lights do not brighten things up. I would not want to eat there. Kind of creepy inside. We stopped in 2 nights for night caps since we were staying in the hotel. Had a nice gentleman bartender on one night. A lady the next night. She didn't acknowledge us at all and even walked away before we got drinks. We sat at the bar both nights. The view from outside of San Diego at night kept us coming back. Frankly they need to work harder on the inside with décor and service.

We had so much fun here with the bartender/waiter. He was so honest about everything on the menu and took a FULL restaurant/bar by himself like a pro. He gave great recommendations and was just hilarious.

After a long day of travel, the perfect spot for that first San Diego dinner with a menu that met everyone's taste buds. Complimentary breakfast each morning was spot-on! Excellent views for a beverage before an evening out.

The actual Resturant itself was wonderful lovely drinks and a lovely view the only downside was the fact that the portions were very small and left you feeling hungry after, especially due to the fact we paid a lot for it. Aside from that I really enjoyed it here and would honestly recommend it :)

We kept seeing this place as we walked by as it is up high. We thought the views would be great. Finally on our last day we ventured up for happy hour. We were the only ones there so got the pick of the seats. It was a lovely view and very sunny. If you go at the right time and get a good seat, this place is great. If you sit inside you could miss what is special about this place.

Love the view and the beer is amazing! Good options of food! Highly recommend when you stop in San Diego👌🏽

Happy Hour here is fantastic ! My partner and I fell in love with the duck fries, however with my partner being a chef she requested a side of olive oil. She took the olive oil and drizzled it over the fries which gave it an awesome taste! Yes, its good without. Also there baja Celviche was pleasant If you go for happy hour, get the Columbia St drink, it was so tasty and the cookie coated around the rim was good! The view was gorgeous, especially during the sunset!

Restaurant is on top of a hotel in Little Italy and has a nice view. View of the bay is somewhat obstructed by other buildings but its still a nice view of downtown and seeing a distant sunset. Ordered a ribeye steak which was good quality and the catch of the day with a mango salsa which was also very good. If you're in the area- check it out.

The food was very good, but I considered it to be more like a bar that served food. Patio has a descent view of the harbor. You can also watch the planes come into the airport. We were actually at the hotel the second day before we discovered it.

The Glass Door is a unique restaurant with one of the most spectacular views in San Diego. What a delight to dine here or sip a drink overlooking Little Italy, San Diego, and the Bay. The staff is fantastic and so helpful. I was very impressed!

Great burgers and the venue has a happy hour every day from 3:00pm. Staff are very helpful, attentive and friendly. Would recommend for a casual meal & drinks. Great breakfast as well. Part ocean view from this restaurant.

Great view morning, noon & night! Great service. Very nice appetizer selection. You have to try the Chorizo Mussels!

I wanted nothing more after a day of traveling than to quietly relax with a good drink... thank you Glass Door and thank you Jersey for giving me exactly what I needed. Great selection behind the bar and great personalities too. Didnt try the food but I know ill be back. If you are staying at the Porto Vista or just in little Italy check it out! What a view!

The views from the Glass Door can probably not be rivaled anywhere that we were while in SD. Happy hour is very nicely priced with much selection. I did enjoy breakfast to some extent. You must request your bacon crispy or it will come out floppy. The eggs are suspiciously of the powdered variety. The sausage links are room temp at best. The toast was superb. Waffles? Coffee and service was great. Seating and service was great. The view alone was worth starting my morning and ending my evening at the Glass Door.

I think I have found the best 2 bartenders in San Diego. Jersey and Claudia might have been the most welcoming people I have ever met. Just moved to SD they were both professional and welcoming, I'm definitely a regular now. after being in the restaurant industry for 5 years, I can honestly say....that's how it is done!!!!!!!!!!

1st....the view is NOT great at all, specially with a new construction right in front. 2nd...this is really NOT a restaurant but a glorified bar...and not even upscale or anything. Just a relatively small bar. 3rd....food is NOT impressive at all. Average at best. Don’t think ai will recommend or be back when I return to SD.

Great Sunsets, great food! Came with some lifelong friends and the staff went out of their way to make sure our large party was well taken care of.

We stayed at the Porta Vista Hotel and this is the restaurant at this hotel. The food was delish! They have a really good burger, yummy beef short rib, and the chicken croissant was good. We also ate breakfast there which was good also. The view is wonderful. We especially enjoyed eating dinner as the sun sets. The only thing lacking were the drinks. Something just wasn't right. Stick to the wine. It pours straight from the bottle. Otherwise, it was a good experience and we would eat there again.

We went to the top of the bay roof patio bar and got amazing service from Big Mike his attention to detail is amazing!!! He doesn't wait for you to ask if you want a refill he asks just at the right time would you like another, and just a relaxed and friendly place to go!!!

Great atmosphere, views are amazing. Highly recommend it. We went for dinner, food and drink were delicious, and the service was fast and courteous.

I have not stayed at this hotel. I go to The Glass Door for two reasons: Jersey's Cosmopolitans and the view. To my knowledge the view cannot beat in Little Italy, and to my tongue, San Diego cannot give me a better Cosmo than Jersey makes me. I travel the world for the perfect Cosmo. After 15 years of research, the best cosmos are as follows: The Mark - San Francisco from Mr. Dark Hair, Cocktail Embassy - London from Dan The Man Bun, and The Glass Door at the Porto Vista Hotel from Jersey. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60750-d650054-r317219059-Porto_Vista_Hotel-San_Diego_California.html#

Ate breakfast here both mornings. Great portions and good service. Typical breakfast food. Great view of the harbour.

Very mediocre! Breakfast time was out of potatoes and a good assortment of teas. Staff overworked.................tables not cleared. Heard food was very good from friends who are locals but they were there for a function.

Krissy was the most attentive server ever. She provided one of the best service experiences I've had in years!!!! She's AMAZING!!!!

As a local restaurant group operations director, I seldom write reviews unless I feel that the interaction, ambiance, level of service and overall quality exceed my expectations by leaps and bounds. 5-star service: Jersey (bartender) is extremely knowledgeable, positively energetic, and a fun individual to be around. You almost forget that you are a patron because she makes you feel as if you're a long time friend. I couldn't decide on what drink-of-choice for the evening. Rather than just suggesting a standard cocktail (as so many other bland bartenders do) she was able to figure out what I liked and create a specialty craft cocktail to my liking. I will be back to see YOU Jersey!!! Ambiance: The Glass Door has an AMAZING view of little Italy and the bay just below. I will be bringing my family here when they visit next. The hotel is very modern with a relaxing vibe to match San Diego's "laid back" So-Cal scene. Great music over dinner, that's a plus in my book! Food: All I have to say is WOW! I didn't expect such amazing food from a hotel restaurant. Boy was I wrong. I had the beef tenderloin and my friend had the Halibut. Seriously, you're missing out if you don't eat her! This is a HIDDEN GEM!!!!! I'm so picky when it comes to my beef cooked at the temperature I request. PERFECT!!! I had a bit of my friends Halibut and it was nothing less than scrumptious. Sauces are on POINT. One of the line cooks stopped by to see how I was enjoying everything. I said "I'm in LOVE" I said whoever cooked this is my new best friend. Turns out, he was the one. Hahaha His name is Ivy and I suggest you make sure you visit when he is working!! Value: Happy Hour from 3-7pm... Where else can you get this kind of deal? Please tell me, because this is incredible. Most places are only 2 to 3 hours... For the flavors, freshness, and overall quality of food (drinks too) it's hard to beat this. 5-stars!!! Cleanliness: I don't need to speak much on this. I always observe the cleanliness of the establishment I'm visiting. Not one thing to criticize here. The staff seems to always be cleaning when not busy. This is a great sign (as well as a good use of labor from a managers perspective) My overall summary: COME VISIT GLASS DOOR! You will not regret my recommendation. I will be returning time after time, as this will be one of my new go-to spots!

The best, friendly, connected with customers. Awesome Gimlet , her own recipe. You go girl!! Luv ya Washington!!!

We ate in this restaurant because we stayed at the hotel. I probably wouldn't go to the restaurant if I didn't stay at the hotel. The service was friendly. The food was good but not amazing. There is a large bar but I don't drink so I can't comment on that. The breakfast, included with our stay, was good but not amazing or particularly imaginative. We ate dinner there one night and that was better.

Nothing special about the foods, but the staff is friendly and the views help to enhance the overall experience.

Expensive for severely small portioned mediocre food. Customer service sucks! I called for room service, only to learn an hour later that I'm supposed to pick up the food!!! The kids meal chicken fingers were spicy my children couldn't eat it!!! What a waste of money. First and last!

You get a free beer if you write a review so here it is! I will update once I try the food! The atmosphere is great. We are staying at the hotel so this is the perfect place for a drink for us.

The afternoon sun at the glass house is the best source of vitamin d. Added to that, the staff, the food, the ambiance. A great way to while away a sunny afternoon in San Diego. Be sure and introduce yourself to Rodrigo the new f&b head. Fantastic.

Spoiler alert: Two reviews below, one bad one good, so read it all. We stayed on the 4th floor of the Porta Vista hotel where the restaurant is located. We checked into the the hotel around 9:00 pm and after getting ready decided to try to use the drink vouchers we received on check-in. At 9:25 pm on a monday night, it was very noisy and we could not get the time of day from any staff at around 9:25 pm. The supposedly are open for dinner until 10:00 pm. We left and walked to Fillipis instead. However We did go there every morning for their breakfast with our vouchers. For a sit down breakfast it was fast. The place is still hopping with loud music, but you can avoid it by eating outside. There are only two choices for breakfast, eggs or waffles so after a few days you may be bored. Also there are few normal height tables, to you are either on bar stools and high tables or at the bar.

Hot breakfast , good tea, and good service... Very courteous wait staff and lovely views of the city.

We came to the bar to have a drink before walking around. We met Holly, our bartender, with the great personality and pours a nice cocktail. My martini's were excellent. If you have a chance on your trip, stop here first.

I visited this location as a potential venue for our annual ERE. I stopped here for lunch and the food was amazing! The view was breathtaking and the ambience was awesome!

Oh, my! Jersey is the absolute best bartender/server in San Diego. We followed her from Inn at the Park in Bankers Hill to here at The Glass Door. She listens carefully to what you ask for, gives an affectionate welcome, and when it's time to go, she comes from behind the bar to give you a hug. She is priceless! The bar/restaurant is a wonderful place to gather. It has probably the best Happy Hour menu I've ever seen, the dinner menu is equally varied and delicious, and the view west-Little Italy and on to San Diego Harbor-priceless.

Every morning we had breakfast here.....Beautiful view of the Harbor.....The food was wonderful....Waitress was very friendly and accommodating....It was perfect in every way!

Loved the patio and the view. Complimentary breakfast was very good. The one dinner we had there was very tasty.

Charles is an awesome bartender. Gotta mention that fuzzy beard of his...it ranks the best out of all fuzzy beards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's pretty spectacular!

It is on the 4th floor of the hotel, very scenic. Can relax and chill out. Food is very good and atmosphere is nice, try to catch the sunset if you can. Great staff, very friendly.

Every time we fly in from Hawaii we stay at the Port Vista. We always get in around 1030pm and make it to the hotel by 1115. We can always count on Jersey being at the glass door so we can grab a cocktail or two before turning in for the night. She is professional, Spunky and fun to talk to after a long flight. This our third time staying here and will always stay here as long as Jersey is at the bar!!! Mahalo! Rob and Barbie

the tasty foi gras in downtown, with perfect ocean view outside the window. There's a opening bar place on fourth floor without roof, the best party place in downtown I believe

The view was very nice on the 4th floor. Location is near an airport so you constantly have air planes landing and taking off. Might irritate some people, but we didn't mind it. The food was good in taste, but my bread on the turkey ham sandwich was a bit too hard for my liking. I do like a crunch, but this was a bit too hard to bite into. The fries were a bit soggy and both the ranch and ketchup seemed unusually watery.

Best brunch ever. Shane and jaye were amazing. See you next week!!!! The mimosas were flowing like wine!!!

I want to thank Reyna who was our sever and cook. She went above and beyond from her customer service to making breakfast feel like breakfast at home away from home for my children & myself. Most Definitely would return :)

The manager stopped by our table a few weeks ago and toldus about an extra patio and how some people had a small party on the balcony. I returned a few weeks later and asked if he could do that for my group, well they did not open as early as I wanted .... But he offered to open early, had food on the table as we walked in and exceeded all expectations. The food was very gourmet This place has the best view in town and the best staff that went out thier way to make a great event for my friends and family Thank you

breakfast items were good and presented well on the plate which means they enjoy what they do and take the time to show it.

We stopped in for a late night drink and to check the view we had heard so much about. The place was empty on a Thursday and we were able to enjoy some chat with the very nice staff. The menu looks good and the view looked even better. I understand they are getting ready for a new menu and starting brunch with bottomless mimosas. This is worth the trip if just for the view and very polite staff. We will be back to check the food in a few days.

As a frequent TA participant I have grown to love and rely on my fellow advisors for great insight on locations throughout the country. The ranking for this establishment is greatly affected by reviewers who have less than 10 or even 5 reviews. That means that they really don't know a good venue from an average venue and for a major metro, this restaurant is average at best. While there is a good view from the restaurant, it only exists with bar style seating so that you and your party are seated side by side making conversation only practical with two participants and even so, somewhat awkward. The restaurant says that it has seafood but the night that we were there it offered only shrimp and scallops. My wife decided to have a burger but the selections only included 1/2 pound versions which for my petite size 2 woman was hardly reasonable. The crème brulee was average and the chocolate cake dessert was very dry and not very tasty. Our server need several attention getters to keep our beverage glass full and to catch up for dessert and getting our check. We frequent San Diego regularly but won't be coming back as we have experienced plenty of better options.

Great restaurant! The view is outstanding! The service by Big Mike was amazing. He takes really good care of you! The service, atmosphere, and view will definitely make me come back to this place. Highly recommend it!

I love staying at the hotel so I always visit the glass door for a cocktail! I love the view and the food wasn't bad either. I like the breakfast buffet that is through the hotel it's great to take in the view while enjoying your morning meal or just coffee!

The view of the marina from the bar is great. The staff is friendly but the hotel is not that great for the value.

The GlassDoor Restaurant offers excellent views of the San Diego Bay. Interestingly, this includes the airport, which can be seen from the restaurant. The restaurant is not very big, but had enough space to seat customers when I visited. Alexandra from the restaurant was also really friendly, and she recommended several things to try when I was here. The only consideration with this restaurant is that the menu items are limited, and are also admittedly on the pricey side. That said, it is a convenient place to get food when staying at the hotel (Porto Vista Hotel; I've reviewed this separately).

Stayed at the hotel and enjoyed happy hour upon our arrival on September 29th. I had their version of a dark and stormy which was very good. Appetizers were well-prepared, but nothing unique. Went back on October 2nd and the drink was weak and tasteless to the point that I had to verify that it was the same item on the menu.

Love this place soooo much!!! Our server Reyna was the absolute best!!! Love her and hope to see her again!!

We stayed at the hotel and absolutely loved visiting The Glass Door for our free FULL breakfast that included egg white omelets, huge fruit salads, and of course the ubiquitous eggs/bacon/sausage/potatoes meals. We were back in the evenings for a glass of wine while watching the beautiful sunsets and the hustle and bustle of Little Italy. I'd call it casually sophisticated and very civilized. Google it for a complete menu and enjoy!

Visited on a weekend and it seemed to be like several places we have here in the UK, full of people who want to look like they have money but actually don't. Lots of people giving the waiters who were actually decent people quite a hard time. The stools on the part to the outside are given to people to sit, but when we were seated the couple next to us gave us a look like something under their show as if nobody should dare sit next to them. It's just the vibe the place exudes, better to save your money and go down to Gaslamp if you want a higher class place, or just have some fun and hang in a bar round Little Italy.

We wandered up the hill and stumbled across this lovely and un-crowded fourth-floor bar. I had a Jala-Berry Margarita, exactly what I had mind (but didn't know till I saw it0, and my husband had a local beer, and we watched the sun set over Little Italy, North Island, and across the bay to Point Loma. Heavenly!

Took advantage of the free breakfast buffet each day. Eggs, sausage, toppings, fruit, pastries, coffee, juice, water. Enough to get your day started.

I took my wife here for date night for the 1st time. The atmosphere was great but most of all our Bartender (SETH) was great. I had the fish tacos and my wife had the wings.... all food was delicious. I would like to THANK SETH for making our date night amazing.... He has outstanding customer service. Also I would like to give a shot out to (Daniel) the chef who made our meal. OUSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!

Average restaurant, with semi view of harbor through the buildings. Nice happy hour and reasonable prices....not huge selection of food but full bar. On the 4th floor of Porto Vista Hotel just off Hwy 5 in Little Italy.... not Italian...

When we arrived we noticed that the menu was being changed from what a lot of the review sites had published. We stayed on the property for a total of 6 nights over 2 weeks, and really enjoyed the food. We are on a low carb diet but found lots of options, and they were accommodating to our requests. The wings, albacore tataki, mussels are definitely must tries. The burger is excellent, as were Cod entrée and Chicken and Kale salad. Overall a good dining experience.

This is a perfect spot to catch the sunset! Thank you to whomever planned out the restaurant, there is plenty of patio seating perfect for catching the sunset over the ocean! I went here for a late night nosh and found the dishes surprisingly good. I had a caprese heirloom tomato salad that was outstanding. The French dip was mouth watering! I will return to try some of their other dishes!!!...and to catch the sunset!

Went here to enjoy my free glass of wine as I was staying at the hotel. Decided to order some hummus and got served a fried bread which they pretend was pita. Waiter was nice enough to give me "plain" pita (not fried) but this was of poor quality (perhaps that's why they serve it fried in the first place..!). So food was mediocre and the white wine wasn't cold... needless to recommend another place for your meal!

enjoyed cocktails at sunsets. Food offerings were good. made a take out to go back to room to enjoy our city room. our room rate included basic hot breakfast. great for early start or flight out

I stayed in the hotel and had my first couple of meals in the Glass Door. A great choice and good quality topped with very good service.

My friends and I went to Glass Door for the mimosa deal and it was totally worth it. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which took a while to prepare so our server, DJ, provided us with drinks to compensate for the time I waited for the food. The drinks were great and the food was worth the wait. Thank you, DJ, for making our Saturday so great!

The Glass Door Restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the hotel and has a great outside area with a fabulous view of the San Diego View. I ordered a light meal and is was very good, actually, way beyond my expectations. This is also where the hotel serves their breakfast in the morning. Their happy hour is very reasonable and it seems to be a hot spot for locals and others who want to watch the sunset from the outside deck. Nice staff.

Great view over Beautiful San Diego, great service from Big Mike, will return again for endless mimosas!!

Anthony, Robert and E money were great to deal with.. Wonderful place to stay when your in San Diego area.

Had a breakfast during my stay in their hotel. The food was average with limited choices, The view from the hotel is great. I didn't tried their lunch and dinner services. Early evenings they have the happy hour services.

I think the main hallmark of this restaurant is that it overlooks a part of San Diego downtown area and the bay from the top of the hill. The view is especially pleasant as you have your breakfast at the outside glass counter while the air is fresh and the sun illuminates the city from behind, and doesn't shine you straight into the eye. The food is very comforting and flavorful, but not really extraordinary, I would say. The waiting staff is very friendly and attentive, and the prices really don't raise brows upon receiving a check, nor drain your wallet.

The Glass Door Restaurant is connected to the Porto Vista hotel. The front desk had given us coupons for free drinks. We decided to catch a sunset and got there at the right moment. After waiting 15 minutes for the server to get our orders, we decided that the view was great but a good bottle of wine in our room was better than sticking around for drinks. We waited 5 more minutes for the sunset to dim and left. Not worth going out of your way to visit this place.

The restaurant is on the 4th floor with amazing views. We received free breakfast buffet which was a pleasant way to start the day. Friday's "happy Hour was fun.

Plentiful fresh-made eggs, bacon or sausage, Coffee was very good. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the view from the fourth floor of the Porto Vista Hotel.

We loved this restaurant. It's on the roof of a hotel (a great place to stay...we did!) The view is glorious. There's a long counter lining an outdoor glassed-in balcony where you can sit and eat while watching the view of the city and nearby Pacific Ocean.

Fantastic food and views!!! The staff were very attentive to our food needs. Thank you so much! The breakfasts were perfect.

The Glassdoor was convenient, since we were staying at the Porto Vista, and we were looking forward to the view of the bay. Unfortunately, a high rise is being built across the street and what probably was a terrific view is now a limited view. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the fare, which was average compared to the surrounding venues in Little Italy.

Would recommend with all the food choices out there in Little Italy, you not do this one. It's a decent restaurant, but pricey and not as great as the other restaurants offered in this area.

We came to San Diego to get some sun and escape dreary rainy Seattle! The Glassdoor restaurant and bar opened at 3 ! We arrived at 3 and greeted warmly by Zara! The bar is gorgeous with lots of sun and beautiful views of the bay! This is an awesome place to visit and it’s in the little Italy area of town!

Stayed at hotel and heard this restaurant was great. Overpriced, food average at best, and service pathetic. Waiter brough us an empty mustard, when we let him know, he replaced it with another empty mustard. The desserts were awful, almost inedible. Burger was good but it cost $17.

Sit outside there are excellent views from the deck. Yummy selection of appy's for happy hour and $5 wines. 3pm-6pm Staff was really friendly and helpful.

Went there on a Monday as Megan from the Front Desk recommended that burger and the restuarant. The burger was great and the drinks there are good. The service there is on point and was helpful.

Location...awesome...views beautiful. Too bad, I think we were a bother. Yes dear, please get up off your stool, we would like a drink! Our server must have had a bad day! She never smiled, and did not clear up a mess we pointed out to her. I dragged my arm through a large wet area on the bar. We warned three other guests away from those seats and she never cleaned it up!

Very pleasant experience. The food was good and the service was very nice. We were staying in the hotel and just took the elevator up. Nice views of San Diego from the restaurant. We would definitely return.

took over 30 minutes for my food to come out on a very very slow afternoon, and they burnt and ruined my steak.. this place is a joke, no wonder they were empty...shame considering they have such a beautiful view

Had a fabulous, relaxing happy hour at the Glass Door restaurant and bar. Jason and Seth (bartenders) were exquisite, food fabulous and view/sunset for the win! Tacos, calamari and ahi were as tasty as visually divine. Go.........

Great place for a drink or more at sunset time ! Really enjoyed the view. Fun fun fun They are top of the porto hotel

we were wondering around little Italy when we looked up the hill and spotted the Glass Door.i am so happy we looked up. The atmosphere is quite laid back, a nice sophisticated place to have cocktails and dinner.the server answered all of our questions with ease, and the view is stunning.i couldn't decide because all of the options were appealing so I ended up having Moroccan chicken skewers and the rack of lamb!it was the best meal I had durning my 5 day visit!i will most definitely return I'm in the area!

We went for drinks one night. Part of my group went to the bar before i did. They had their drinks but the waiter never came back to take our order. We ended up leaving 20 minutes after arriving never getting helped.

Just trust me, there are a million better places, don't waste your time eating here. It looks tempting but the staff and food prep are questionable in the sanitary standards.

It’s really great cause you get a free drink! The glass door is actual glass! There’s a great view of the airport-I really enjoy airplane sporting 👍🏽

While I have not personally had anything to eat at this place, I can say that it is my number one go to spot for a date night cocktail. You cant beat the view out on the balcony, and the cocktails are TOP NOTCH. Scott is THE MAN. Like, THE. MAN. My husband and I always get SUPER Excited when we see his face upon walking through the door. The a genuinely nice guy, with a great attitude, and fun spirit. Not to mention, this dude has got some SKILLS with the cocktails. Order his Mango Mule or Vodka Gimlet. Or anything else for that matter. He never disappoints!

Stopped in for happy hour on my way to dinner out of the hotel. Well it's 3 hours later, and then I have finally left. Thanks to Jersey as the waitress, stayed for my dinner.

We were looking for a place with a great view downtown and a casual dress code. This was a great option. The decor was beautiful, the view was amazing and the food was delicious. The only problem was the service. (I had to get my own silverware and napkins.)

We always stay at the Porta Vista Hotel in Little Italy San Diego. Love love love it. Go to the outdoor market on sat.

More a Bar type setting than a restaurant, but good for drinks and Appetizers. They have a nice view with a partial view of the harbor and airport. The service was friendly and very good.

At the top of a hotel or something like that. I was taken here by friends for birthday brunch while visiting San Diego. The food was great. It had a great view of the water and parts of the city. Would love to come back!

Had to wait a while for my friend to arrive at the airport after her many delays and was able to enjoy a couple of different types of beverages. The strawberry mojito was really good, but the best was the Cosmo. Breakfast was good the next day, too!

Tasty drinks and wine and the view is incredible!!! The staff was friendly and professional and served our drinks in a timely manner.

Went here for Happy Hour, but looks like anytime would be great. Read about the Glass Door online and decided to give it a go. On the 4th floor of a hotel. Nice view looking West toward the harbor. Happy Hour menu is unique and very good. The poke stack was particularly enjoyable. Otto was a great bartender and guide. We will be back again.

Stay away at Breakfast time! We stayed at the hotel and were given a voucher for breakfast. The service is fine. The product is terrible! Poor coffee, greasy eggs, tasteless potatoes! Find another local place!

Zara and Denise were amazing. They were welcoming. The food and drink were on point and the view was relaxing

We ordered fish tacos and an ahi appetizer. Both were excellent, although I would have preferred a white corn torilla with my fish taco rather than a flour one that was stiff and chewey. The staff was very friendly and prompt. This place is nothing special for sure.

Lots of drink possibilities at reduced prices. Beautiful views of the bay and Little Italy. It was a cool windy evening but the patio heaters were on. We enjoyed some appetizers with our drinks and visited with nice people from New York.

Great, surprising and a free drink! Nice to get up to the 5th floor for a heck of a view. Lyla st the front desk is amazing.

This place is great! Charles the bar tender really took care of us. Good vibes. Good drinks and friendly service.

Had a few minutes to kill, so we did.. Service was excellent, good views of the street, lots of nice people dining as well. Very trendy.

It's awesome, you get a free drink it you write a review! It really has a glass door! The glass door appears to have been cleaned recently and is very opticaly clear. My friend on the other side is perfectly visible.

The bottomless mimosas brunch was so delicious, but what really made it special was the service. Big Mike was so attentive and friendly. LOVE THIS PLACE. I'm not from San Diego, but if you want amazing views, this us the place p.s. duck fries are super good

I was here and felt welcomed, this place has nice views and great service. Ask for Reyna she was super friendly throughout my dining experience. 10/10

Charles rocked our socks off literally. Dude killed it. The service was not only spectacular, it came with the professionalism and integrity that you expect with an upscale bar such as glass door. Will definitely visit again soon.

Great view and location in little Italy!!! Happy hour is awesome and Charles was the best bartender. His fuzzy beard is fun too! A great way to spend girls night or a date night :) Definitely will be back again!!!!!!

This place is worth a stop whether you're staying at the hotel or not. The drinks are tasty, the space is inviting, and the views from the wall to wall windows are stunning. All this along with the friendly staff here makes this place a real gem in Little Italy. Check it out.

The narrow outdoor section of the bar has heat, which makes it nice on chilly nights, but our group was very disappointed in the food here. The hamburgers had an odd taste, the chicken wings tasted spoiled, the pretzel appetizer was bland bread with jalapeno slices on top, and no one liked the prosciutto sandwiches. The cerviche and the french fries were good though. There are too many good restaurants in town to settle for this one.

The food here is great and the service really good too, we were staying in the hotel attached to the restaurant and went here several times.

I've been wanting to come here for quite sometime. My parents were in town visiting so I made brunch reservations for Mother's Day. It was pretty empty when we got there (12pm), our table wasn't very clean. There was a prix fix menu which was never advertised. It was brunch but there were no breakfast options. Our appetizers good, our main entrees were less than average. I had the halibut with rice. The rice had those mixed frozen vegetables you buy in the supermarket. The bread pudding was tough and tasted like it had been sitting in the refrigerator past its expiration date. When the check came they had added 22% gratuity...there was only 3 of us so I'm not sure why they added it and why they felt the need to be so generous to themselves. The view was the nicest part. Maybe we need to try dinner there. Overall so disappointed.

Awesome food, good service. Friendly staff, would like to come here again and again. Nice lobby 👌 👍

Great staff and nice bar. Good drinks and tasty snacks. If you are staying in the hotel, the breakfast buffet is fine and filling, loved the coffee.

Located on the 4th floor of the Porto Vista Hotel. The place has a decent vibe, but is lacking that comfy feeling due to the low-end furnishings not complimenting the style of lighting fixtures (North African). The staff is friendly and attentive. The view is great. The menu is very limited. So we opted not to eat there. Net-Net: If we weren't staying at the hotel, we probably wouldn't have stopped in.

I liked the restaurant was on the same floor as our room. Which made it convenient for us. We enjoyed just walking a short distance to the restaurant/bar.

I reviewed this while reviewing the Hotel Vista as it's located inside the hotel. It does have awesome views. The bartender is terrific. Serving staff is good also. Breakfast: the food is quite good. That said, they don't offer what they put on their 'menu'. ie: Eggs any style. You get only scrambled. But the potatoes, bacon and sausage were good. They also serve an assortment of muffins.

Jersey was helpful, friendly & cool! She suggested awesome drinks like the bourbon mule. The food was alright. There was plenty to choose from during happy hour. We were there on a Wednesday. I wish the ac was stronger though. The view is killer, especially from the roof of the building.

Had breakfast here (part of my room pkg) and it was very good and freshly prepared. Had a couple of beers in the evening. The view is awesome.

The restaurant has a great view. The staff was very nice and helpful. We ate breakfast every morning at the hotel.

Breakfast is a no go. Eggs smelled liked moldy dish towels, sausage was like a rubber ball, potatoes cold and pastries rock hard. We went in 30 minutes after opening and disappointing is the nicest thing I can say.

Only had breakfast and it was average; good if you eat pork . Great view of the water, Workers are very helpful.

A nice little place above the Porto Vista hotel. Great views, friendly service. I just popped down from our room to pick up dinner but I wish I could have stayed. Nice relaxed atmosphere. We loved the Brussels Sprout app, and the blackened salmon sandwich. We'd definitely go back next time the kids can't sit still for a meal. In fact maybe we'll leave the kids in the room and we'll enjoy the view and a meal ourselves.

I've eaten here several times during my stay and the food is amazing, especially the Salmon salad. The happy hour has got to be one of the best in town, salmon sliders, chicken wings with 3 sauces and calamari, delicious. $8 food, $6 drinks. Richard my waiter has been efficient, kind and one step ahead of me always. Terrific service. The views from the bar/restaurant are breath taking. I'll b back for sure.

I and my friends were having the morning breakfast here during our stay in sandiego. This restaurant is the top floor of the Porto Vista Hotel and gives an amazing view of the sea and airport.

The only reason my rating is less than 5 is my limited dining experience. I’ve had breakfast once after a hotel stay and some of the best ceviche I’ve ever had when they served it for their Friday happy hour. I would have to experience a lunch or dinner in The Glass Door before I could rate the restaurant fully. The view is certainly breathtaking. However, having said that I would give 5 stars ***** to their staff. Jersey and Scotty are always wonderfully welcoming. The restaurant and the Porto Vista Hotel where it’s located host a weekly Friday evening, rooftop happy hour, probably one of the largest in San Diego and one of a handful of outdoor rooftop venues. There it’s like the bar “Cheers” that used to be on tv, everyone knows you. It is friendly and welcoming. Jersey never meets a stranger and greets you with a hug and kiss, Big Mike is a delight and regales you with stores in addition to making you the perfect cocktail. Scotty also makes the rounds greeting and welcoming customers with a hug. Where else do you get this? Lately I’ve been urging the hotel/restaurant to joining the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, Southern California Chapter and get some of the government business that’s always available in the city and county. With this effort I got to know and enjoy visiting with Jesse Hizon, Director of Food and Beverage and Tom McMahan, Director of Group Rooms.

Not many options, only two choices for breakfast. No substitutions. The prices were a bit high but not outrageous, service was very slow at times especially for breakfast. Nice view.

Great little social place with a good view. It has a glass door. I like that the bar is open late and the patio heaters are amaze. They have blueberry beer!

I loved the drinks and the food and the service - fantastic - but the VIEW is what makes this place spectacular. You can see the entire San Diego bay, Cruise and Navy ships, great sunsets.

Asked the bartender what beer they had on tap. Her answer was we have many. So I said how about a Michelob Ultra. She said we don't have that. Ended up having a glass of wine since I was not interested in playing the guess the beer game. So as we were leaving I looked at the beer taps they have 4 beers on tap and she couldn't tell me what they were. REALLY. I'm not even sure she was a real bartender since the other people in my group had mixed drinks that were poorly executed no where near being made correctly.

This was the restaurant in our hotel. The food was poor quality and the bar was a joke. The view was great and the wait staff were all very nice. So disappointing. I do not recommend it

We ate on the balcony and the view was amazing - great value good local wine. The food we got was really good - fresh and tasty. However we got half of our groups mains, then the other halves starters, then more mains and finally the remainder of the staters. Some of the mains were not as ordered. For example they bought the wrong burger, but to rectify it didn't make a fresh one...just put some pulled pork in? The waitress was clueless and had put the six of us on two separate checks. Not really apologetic at all, just confused. The manager did take the second lot of starters off our bill but only because we didn't eat them.

View from the restaurant is spectacular. They had great selection of mixed drinks. We ordered appetizers. Calamari was dry, probably overcooked but blackened salmon slider was great. They had limited dinner entree selection so we decided to go to nearby restaurants.

Food was strange , cocktail was fine. Very loud at night, seemed like many men not sure if it was straight or otherwise

The food was okay, not great though. Our waitress Jersey only stopped by once we had the manager serving us. Hoped it helped. She was very rude to us.

This is my second visit to the Glass Door in last 3 months. I stay at Porta Vista Hotel and hang at the Glass Door. Wonderful bartender Zara!!

Food was fresh made, prices were very reasonable, view from the dining bar was fantastic. The enters were very tasty
Chill Vibe, but martini was a bit "vermouthy..."
We stopped here for a quick drink/app. The dirty martini was a little on the "vermouthy" side, but other than that, the apps were tasty and the view/vibe was very relaxing and comfortably. We didn't get to check out the inside seating as we made a direct line to the two open seats along the outside. Service was great and efficient.
