I ordered Gloria's Super Special which included a chicken tamale, a pupusa, yuca, fried plantain and beans! This was a different cuisine for me but was pleasantly surprising in flavors of dishes. Will try again!

The food is all a la carte and not very tasty in my opinion. I would not return and would not recommend to friends.

Seriously, get down there quick for their creative spin on brunch drinks! We happened in to Gloria's for a late lunch and found their food delicious and the location very nice. The service was speedy, which is important with children in tow, and our creative dishes were great. Definitely worth it!

Gloria's is a chain with restaurants in Dallas, Houston, Austin and now San Antonio. Located at The Rim shopping area it is the perfect place to go to after a movie or shopping. I have been twice in 2 weeks. The first visit was after a movie. I had quesadillas with shrimp. They were delicious. Last evening, my husband and I went for dinner. I had the tropical salad with shrimp was which was outstanding. The lettuce was fresh. It was loaded with fresh fruit and the shrimp were grilled to perfection. My husband had the steak tacos el carbon. He said the meat was the best he has ever had. Tender and flavorful. The service was excellent. The restaurant interior is a contemporary but comfortable fresh, clean ,open space. The tables are spaced so that noise is not a problem. They also have outside dining space. This is Latin/ Tex Mex cuisine. The prices are higher than your routine Tex Mex chains and worth every penny. I am always willing to pay more for super fresh food in an atmosphere where you can actually talk without yelling that has great service. Welcome Gloria's. we are glad you are here.

Little bit different than the regular Mexican-focus in San Antonio restaurants. BTW - have some very good tequilas and prices - Jose Cuervo La Familia and Don Julio 1942 were only $15 each. Prices are usually 2x or more elsewhere.

The atmosphere is great with a wall of water that changes color, we had a party of 12 and the food was very good mixture of Mexican and Latin food with yucca, fried plantains, excellent black bean dip, shrimp, carne asada, chicken..we tried it all! Prices are medium priced. Service was outstanding! Had a great time.

We had a fantastic meal at Glorias. We started with the pork and queso Puposa for an appetizer. I recommend it. I had the Lechon Asado which is basically grilled pork with asado seasoning. It was awesome. The yucca and sweet plantains that came with it were really good. My partner had the Mar y Teirra which he loved. For dessert we ordered the Flan and the Tres Leches cake. Both were good but the Tres Leches was much better. The waitstaff is awesome here. The ambiance is modern and fun. The location in the Rim is convenient, Gloria's is a great place for dinner

Tried Gloria Latin Cuisine at “The Rim” in San Antonio. Service was very good. Tired of regular Tex Mex common in San Antonio, so we tried different items and were pleased. The salsa is tasty, tortillas were actually a tad crispy (which I liked), and the Carne Flameada was really tasty. Prices were reasonable. Location in the middle of The Rim is perfect, near theatre and other attractions. Plenty of parking.

Our party of 8 was seated very quickly. The black bean dip and salsa were really good. The service was top notch. Fast refills on beverages and chips. I will definitely be going back to try their other menu items. I had the polo mexicano and it was delicious. This place serves great food and their service is the best. My compliments to the waiter and other staff for making our first experience a memorable moment that we will repeat.

We went to Gloria's for a late lunch. The waitress was very informative and explained the menu... which was unique! My husband LOVED everything he got... even the plantains. He said the Pupusas were delicious and the tamales were worth going back for! I had the tropical salad... it was very fresh, and I really liked the fruit. This is a definite hit with us both and well worth the visit. We also sat outside... it was shady and not too hot. The cost was average for this part of town.

We met another couple to sit down and have dinner. (new Neibors) I was very surpised how we were quickly sat down on a Saturday night and being around 6:30 PM. The place was very busy, the waitress and the help really hustled, and were around enough to where you weren't wanting anything, but not around so much that they were interfering with conversations. The food is a little on the high end for Latin/texmex, but was reasonable. We sat near a fire place, which was really cool. We were there a little longer than we should have been, but was never hurried to leave. Just a great 1st time experience.

My wife and I stopped in for a bite after a movie and were happily surprised at how nice this place is. After we ordered drinks, Andres (the manager) come over to our table to welcome us and we had a nice chat. My wife ordered the Gloria’s top shelf margarita which she said was very good and strong. We had chips and quest was good but the bean dip was outstanding! We split a beef fajita chimichanga and it was fantastic! We will be back!

RUDE RUDE RUDE! If you like terribly rude and zero service then this is the place for you. As for me, I work too hard to pay to be mistreated. Too many others choices for Tex mex.

What a nice surprise! This is not the usual Tex Mex place. It has those dishes, of course, but also includes more unusual things like black rice and other Salvadoran treats. Their (Salvadoran) fish was exceptionally delicious and the service was excellent. Very attractive décor--sleek and modern. The only negative was the parking; it's located in a somewhat congested area that can be called "Restaurant Row" which has lots of different restaurants packed into a small area. Despite that, if you're looking for refreshing cuisine in an attractive setting, this is it.

We went here twice in October 2020 and sat outside both times. Recommend getting a table next to the glass and not the pedestrian walk. We had pupusas both times stuffed with pork and they were excellent. I had the pollo a la Mexicana the first time which was billed as spicy but this is San Antonio and it was not that spicy but was really good with chicken with Spanish rice and black beans. The second time I tried the lechon asado, pork tenderloin with an excellent chile ancho sauce and the usual accompanists. The pork was thin and really good. I took some home and had it the next day for lunch. My partner had the chili relleno both times stuffed with jack and cheddar cheese and a chicken enchilada which she said was good. Both times she had to take half of her food home and eat the next day due to the quantity. Service was excellent and the food came promptly. It was hot and delicious which is why we returned a week later. I don't know why we waited so long to try it. This is on restaurant row in the Rim with many choices to eat. If you like Salvadorian or even Mexican food this is a really good place. Be ready for the black beans and plantains however.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and wished we had had more time to explore the menu. We'll get back soon. Clever bar and professional staff added to the meal.

We have eaten at Gloria’s in Fort Worth and Dallas several times and have always been happy. This one did not hit the mark. My husbands beef was way over costed with a heavy chipotle sauce my entree was good and my mango margarita was good but the cucumber one was bitter and I burped it for two days. Ugh! The manager was making rounds and very nice as was our waiter but the food and drink were lacking. They did credit us for the beef entree. Thank you. It will not be near the top of our list any time soon.

Even though this place looks like a touristy location type place , the food is very very good. Add to that the authentic mexican flair and you have an amazing combination of authentic dining at a very reasonable price . My wife and I love coming here for lunch . Her favorite is Nancy’s plate and mine is the Steak Flameado. Both of these will not disappoint . The restaurant is very well layer out with a very classy feel and the service is ALWAYS spectacular .

Great food and excellent service. Loved this place. Would definitely go here again next time we are in the San Antonio area!!

While there are many different choices to eat at The Rim, we went on a whim to this restaurant (after the movies). We were delighted with the whole experience. Beautiful setting/ambience, wonderful cocktails, food and service - all for an affordable price. Our waitress Karina was fantastic. At 10 p.m. they clear some tables and open up the dance floor with live music. The night we went they were offering free salsa lessons. Although we did not stay that long - how fun for anyone interested!! We will definitely be back.

As if this already crowded end of the Rim could stand the traffic of another restaurant, here comes Gloria (not to be confused with the Johnny Hernandez ventures "La Gloria"). Wedged between Mash'd and Hopdoddy across the street from the General Public, you will most likely have to use the parking garage during popular hours to visit. Parking on the street here is akin to the parking at La Cantera main storefront drive with both location's parking spaces paralleling the hen's teeth analogy. The foyer of Gloria has a spectacular glass Chihuly-esque (not sure of the artist) light artwork overhead as your walk in that looks like a bursting spiral of cool, blue, twisted glacial ice pinnacles back-lit by a soft arctic sun. Your eye is then reluctantly wrested from this marvelous piece directly back to the end of the dining room where a wall of dancing flames captures your attention. Gas flames behind a wide glass front dance to an eye catching chaotic rhythm. And if that wasn't enough to hypnotize, the dining area to the left is decorated with a near room size "curtain" that is more transparent than translucent. There are large empty circle designs that move in the breeze like sheer watermarked gauze. It stopped me in my tracks on the way to our windowed table on the street side. The menu is just an oversized, monochromatic, laminated sheet with both Salvadoran and Mexican dishes listed on either side. I was expecting something a little more eye catching after that mod-popping sensory loading entrance. You know immediately that you are at the Rim by the not so inexpensive rent covering menu prices. Happy hour starts at 2:00 pm so we tried the house margs on the rocks. H-m-m-m. Next the top shelf marg and a blood orange marg. Double h-m-m-m. I think we are just too jaundiced by our many years of marg tinkering and mixing at home. Very few places match the fresh limes from our own trees and the premium tequila and orange liqueurs we use. No brag. Just fact. Makes it tough to have drinks out. Chips ahoy! Here came the ubiquitous bowl of tortilla chips and hot sauce with an added bonus. A black bean dip that I actually liked. So many times the service of anything containing black beans is just, well . . . tasteless. This was fairly good. On to the mains. After a discussion with the slightly argumentative waiter on the preparation and service of pupusas, we ordered the appetizer; three small pork and cheese "stuffed" tortillas. The pupusas I know are more on the order of flat gorditas rather than thinner tortillas. These were indeed more like tortillas, very flat with almost undetectable filling. I definitely would not use the word "stuffed" in association with this dish. I loaded up on the curtido (slaw that is served with pupusas) to make these very good tortillas taste like more than just griddled corn masa. Disappointing. Flip flopping on cultures we decided to go basic Mexican and try the Tex- Mex triumvirate, beef enchiladas served with rice and beans. The first attempt at delivery was not a James Beard moment. The plate was just barely warm. Swooping down from some close by aerie, the manager taloned our plates with one deft motion followed by a few quick apologies and returned almost as quickly with fresh, this time hot, entrees. Bravo! The beans were regular pinto refrieds, the rice a lighter colored, corn and pea freckled, flat, mounded scoop, and the enchiladas, fairly generously beef filled tubes. More cheese on top, please. The flavor of everything was fine, but no suddenly appearing crowned head for an imperial moment. The decor was cool, the ambiance a quasi-latin hot, but I suspect that I will not be walking around singing G-L-O-R-I-A anytime soon. The price-quality-quantity formula was just a little too sub par. And for a chuckle, those who just gotta have a tortilla "pusher" with their meal, a single folder will wrangle another $1 out of your wallet. Please!! [read in a mildly disgusted tone]

While staying in San Antonio, I came here for dinner one evening. I was happy to see the sign (as I walked in) advising that during weeknights they offer half priced bottles of wine!! Upon sitting down and checking the menu, I found that they do have all the favs, including Caymus on the list, so getting half off is a nice way to try something new! For food, I started with their small guac and asked my server to bring me all of their salsas. The guac was of decent flavor and definitely fresh, but it wasn’t mashed enough (there were many slices about the size of a tangerine slice in it), so the chips would frequently break without being able to scoop up anything. When it comes to their salsa, he brought a red, green (both are mild) and a bowl of black bean dip (this was pretty good) and a green Peruvian sauce (typically what I use for yuca in other joints). The green Peruvian style sauce was really good and rather spicy, tho not over the top. The flavor of the red salsa was AWESOME! The green was really good too, but boring, as it didn’t have enough spicy to it. For food, I opted for their “surf & turf” Mar Y Tierra and it was very nicely done! It came with a sirloin (where I wish they would have used something more traditional, like a skirt or flat iron), which are typically boring, but they did a somewhat decent job seasoning and grilling it to make it as flavorful as you can make a sirloin. The temp was PERFECT!!! The grill marks were gorgeous! The shrimp that came with it were pretty big and flavorful, definitely enjoyable! And this dish also came with yuca, which I loved, especially when dipped into their green sauce! The rice and beans were fresh and offered some nice flavors! But that chimichurri sauce that came with it was AWESOME! My wife makes a perfect chimichurri and it’s because she uses fresh herbs, they do too and that makes the world of difference!! Service was decent, not the best, as my bartender seemed to be busy often, even though they were 1/3 covered at the bar. The place is beautifully decorated on the inside. Overall, I loved it… it’s the BEST place I’ve tried at The Rim thus fast, for ambiance, food and menu. (and I’ve tried all but a couple places within The Rim!) I will DEFINITELY return on my next visit to San Antonio!!

Stopped in for dinner and drinks with a colleague. The drinks were fantastic. Chips, salsa, queso and guac were also on point. My chimichanga was lackluster. The queso on top made it too heavy. I would recommend a white lighter queso.

I ordered the Acajutla fish, basically a tilapia filet. I was very salty, almost not eatable. The inside of the restaurant is nice though. They advertise pupusas made of cheese and pork. I did not taste it, so I can't review it but I have quite extensive knowledge of pupusas so I can tell you that they aren't probably good. The best place to eat "real" pupusas is in at Salvadoran restaurant.

My daughter visited from New York and was craving Latin food. We drove right from the airport to this restaurant as we heard it was very good. Far exceeded our expectations. Do not confuse this with La Gloria as they are not the same. Great menu and nice atmosphere.

Delicious food! Incredible service—water, chips and dips were constantly being refilled! Loved Gloria’s Super Special. Fried plantains and the bean dip were spectacular.

After our food arrived, I noticed mine was ice cold and my husband's was tepid. The waitress was even taken aback by how cold mine was. After 30 minutes of waiting for our first order, I wasn't surprised that it took 15 minutes to bring back a new order. After paying the bill (100%), I called the manager over ONLY to let him know that I was disappointed that we got nothing for our trouble, not even an apology, or a small discount on a return visit. At that point, he told me I was not deserving of an apology as he just knew I was trouble, and my food only took 5 minutes. I really was not looking for much. Just an acknowledgement that it was such a mistake the first time. I won't be back due to the fact that I just felt like one giant inconvenience to them on a night when we were one of only 5 tables. I really only wanted an "I"m so sorry that happened". Sad, my husband I go out for date night once a week and have company in town often. I wanted this place to become a regular stop, but not if I feel like I'm a burden to their staff.

Pupusas were created centuries ago by tribes in El Salvador. What a treat to try out this traditional dish. Tamales put on quite a show wrapped in banana leaves!

Asked some guys for a good recommendation for dinner and without a second thought they told to try Gloria. Fast and kind service, good pricing and the food was delicious. I would definitely come back and r commend this place.

Location was clean and had plenty of seating. Staff wasn’t very friendly but wasn’t rude either, just seemed passive and as if they were not interested. Waiter just came across as annoyed when asking for anything. Food was good, but not anything to write home about. Ordered a fish plate and the fish was a little over cooked. Portion size was a little smaller than expected, so if you are hungry, consider appetizers to fill you up.

Went here for happy hour with a friend and stayed for dinner. We were very impressed with our margaritas and our appetizers and meals. I hear people say they avoid this area of the RIM mall because of lack of parking, but there is a huge parking garage very near this restaurant. I never have trouble finding a spot there - even on busy weekend nights.

Excellent service, excellent food. We got great suggestions on what to order. Everything tasted wonderful from chips and salsa and queso to main dishes. This is a must eat when in San Antonio. Great ambiance inside but lots of outside seating. Clean restrooms and easy parking.

Do not confuse this place with the other “Gloria” name as this place is SO much better. They do all day happy hour Monday-Friday. Their margaritas and mojitos are wonderful and the food and service are great. My new favorite Latin cuisine restaurant!

My family of four adults had an excellent meal here on a Friday night. It is located in a very upscale, vibrant area of The Rim with lots of other restaurants on the same street. There is $5 valet parking right out front. The interior was really modern and stylish. It reminded me of one of those high-end Las Vegas restaurants. The service was excellent as was their varied menu. We especially liked the complementary black bean tip they serve with their chips along with very good red salsa. Among us we tried their seafood soup which was excellent, as was their carne asada steak and fish tacos (be advised the sauce with the tacos was VERY spicy to our palate.) My family would definitely go back. It was an excellent dining experience.

Fun music and dancing, but they tried to steal my friend's credit card by claiming they didn't have it behind the bar, but still charged him for everything. They also would only give glasses of water to certain people, and would make others buy a bottle. For a place serving alcohol that's hot from dancing, they should probably give you tap water without a fuss.

Excellent food and service! Pupusas are really good appetizer and meat was tender and lots of flavor

Ambiance is warm and spacious. The menu is fabulous and spices simply amazing. The plantain's in how they are prepared is a show-stopper. The entree, its presentation and spices were simply phenomenal. Recommend if in the area.

Steak, sides and all those fresh chips and salsa. The service is friendly and efficient. A new favorite.

Inside seating is huge with an awesome bar and lots of outside seating with AC and heaters. Just went in March 2021, all open masks required until u get to ur table. Amazing margaritas! Every kind is amazing including the house with a spicy salt on rim. All the food was fresh, great and huge portions. I got simple taco platter which is top 5 in my life. Fresh cheese, salsas, jalapenos, great ground beef and rice Nd beans were amazing. The area is awesome, clean, safe and newer. Try this place u won't be disappointed. A+ 100% place

I decided to try this restaurant on a whim. When I walked in the place was not busy with a somber atmosphere. I went to the bar & felt such a cold vibe, I ordered an ice tea. While the salsa was very good, the chips were stale and I mentioned the same to the bartender, who didn't seem to care. I ordered some enchiladas, but nothing was memorable about this place from the service to the food. Maybe this is why it was rather slow when I visited it.

There are two restaurants with similar names in the same general area. My friend and I ended up at the best one, I am fairly certain. It was the first time for both of us although we had eaten at the other restaurant in another part of the city before. Chips and salsa and warm black bean dip were served before our meal. We each ordered a salad off the lunch menu, she a ceviche and I a salmon salad, both with chimichurri dressing. The waiter suggested he bring us a balsamic vinegar dressing as well. Both were delicious and went together nicely on the salads. The restaurant was huge and had a stage for latin music and dance instruction for Saturday nights. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I hope this place does well, as I will gladly go again.

What a great experience for Sunday brunch. Great decor, a cut above the average restaurants at the Rim. Katy, our server, was attentive, courteous and helpful for our first visit. Not the typical "Tex-Mex" food, but flavored with a Latina(El Salvador) accent. Independently owned, not a large chain. Will be back!

Stopped after work on a Monday, so it was pretty quiet. Ordered a skinny margarita, very nice. Nice chips with spicy sausage and warm black bean dip, again very good. My wife ordered a Salvadoran mix...tamales melted in your mouth. I had flat steak with a beef enchilada and fixings...steak was super, but needed more spice. No cheap, but too bad. Again, a nice change of pace from the typical TexMex.

This is an upscale Latin restaurant. It serves Tex-Mex and Salvadorean cuisine. The selection is eclectic and interesting. The interior atmosphere and decor is modern. Service was great too. There is an interesting mix of both Mexican and Salvadorean dishes all prepared very well.

Sunday brunch menu is excellent. Wonderful atmosphere. Waitstaff, Camila, was attentive but not pushy to get us out. Mimosa's on Sunday morning at half-price.

Very inviting atmosphere but even better food. I had a fish dish that was outstanding, very flavorful. My wife and daughter had the Gloria special which had a good selection of different food items; tamales, Pupusas, plaintains. Everything was delicious, especially the fried plaintains. We just tried the El Salvadoran dishes but they do have more traditional tex-mex options also. This was a Sunday so they were having a special for $1 mimosas with an entrée. We started with salsa and black bean dip with our chips. We liked both.

Dined here early on a weekend evening with our family. Not crowded and quickly seated without a reservation. Service was consistently good throughout our meal. Great cocktails, and excellent array of menu choices. Gloria's Super Special was an excellent choice for tasting various options. The Lechon Asado was awesome! The kids ended up ordering off the adult menu and were not disappointed. Looking forward to returning and trying some new items.

Everything we sampled at Gloria's was exceptional. Margaritas will hit you hard if you aren't careful. You get chips, salsa and re fried beans to start. Cheese and spinach enchiladas were amazing and presented well. Fried Plantains with ice cream was a great finish.

Hi Last night we arrived at this restaurant party of 14 I was very disappointed with the service and the time it took for them to get us a table. The service was really bad. It took forever to get the food. My order was horrible please don’t order a tortilla soup I have know idea what was in it. The steak was cold. At least the company was Fantastic! But when we left the restaurant we find that our car was broken in and they stole all our stuff from our car they broke 2 of the windows. We ask for help at the mall. They couldn’t do it. Because they said that part of the parking belong to the movies. We had to call the police! Please be aware that this happens it is a horrible experience to get to your car and feel so vulnerable in a place that was supposed to be very save and a great neighborhood. The people from other cars in the parking talk to us about how often this happened there. The security at the mall were so young With not experience on handling this type of situations. We left very sad and disappointed. The one thing I can talk about was the police officer that help us, very professional and helpful. We thank him for his help and support on this ugliest experience. I am writing this because I wish someone have told us about this an has the opportunity to make a more educated decision about where to eat an visit In San Antonio

I've been going to Gloria's for years. Unfortunately, it's not as good as it used to be. Service was ok but I asked a couple of questions and the wait staff didn't seem to understand. I have a food allergy and I didn't have a lot of confidence that she understood this so I ordered something without much risk. Most importantly, the food was mediocre. My ceviche was definitely not fresh once you got past the top layer and my partner's food was "just ok". The last time I was there, the tortilla soup was bland and simply not tasty. They also seem to have changed the chilaquiles recipe, which used to be my favorite dish there. Maybe a new chef? Sadly, I won't be going back.

Gloria's is always good. We love the food and this place is close to the theater and shopping. You have to experience this place!

While on a family trip we had heard that we would not be disappointed if we went to Gloria’s and we definitely were not. Everything was spot on. From the entrance into the restaurant I wondered how expensive it would be because the restaurant is very very nice! To my surprise the prices were very reasonable. From the start of the salsa and chips (you get bean dip to start too, which was amazing) to the fajitias, enchiladas and house margaritas everything was a 10/10. If you’re in the San Antonia area please go visit this restaurant, like I said you will not be disappointed.
Latin and Tex Mex meet in San Antonio
This place is great. Very nice décor. This place has great food and a variety of it. You can choose from Latin cuisine, which is mostly Salvadorian, or classic Tex-Mex. I have tried both,, and both were great. Carne Asada was very tender and loved the plantain sides. Fish tacos are my favorite. You get three large tacos, rice, beans and very large portions. The black bean dip with salsa and chips are complimentary and quite tasty. They also have brunch on Sundays. Large place, very nice people working there. Manager came by our table on Sunday to ask how everything was. Medium priced and not your typical Rim inflated food. Give it a try, well worth it. One final note,, the BEST guacamole appetizer in town. Period.
