I was visiting Chicago for the 3rd time and decided to take a water taxi (do this for sure!) to Chinatown. On the boat, I met a man who lived in Chinatown. He said I should skip the "pretty places" and hit this little hole-in-the wall if food was my "thing". (It is). So glad I listened. There are many places and I am sure most are good. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated (place probably holds 20-30 people). The restroom looks right into the kitchen, which is the size of a shoe box. (How do they do it?). If you are only two people, you might sit with strangers. If this bothers you, there are more decorative places. But this one was clean and efficient. The food came quickly (We ordered a crispy duck, a marinated beef dish and a large bowl (this is family style, ya'll) of Hot & Sour soup. Fresh, hot, delicious. We both ate until we were miserable...couldn't help it. Prices were $12 - $15 per entree. You could eat cheaper...lots of menu selections. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a simple, delicious dining experience!

Very small, we were lucky to get in with all the reservations. Great fusion and old favorite dishes.

We ordered delivery for a luncheon at work and I was pleased that their diverse menu allowed me to accomodate my co-workers' food restrictions and food allergies. "Taco Bao" was interesting new creation - shredded spicy beef and vegetables that go in a little white bun like we use for Peking duck. Tea-smoked duck was very popular for those who could not eat pork. They also liked XO sauce Fish fillet and Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet. Vegetarians enjoyed Braised Tofu with Mushroom Casserole, Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Vegetarian Fried Rice.

When we first entered I wasn’t impressed with the appearance but since I read all these good reviews I thought I would take a chance. The food was good but certainly not overwhelming. I don’t get what everyone raves about here. The service was very good. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. The place itself was small and less then attractive. I think there are many better choices for a nice sit down meal.

Our new favorite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Small place so make a reservation or order out. Tasty pan-fried dumplings and 100 spiced chicken. Owner Wendy will take care of you, making dishes to order and special dinner orders for large parties.

Walked there from McCormick Place and had the 100 beef for lunch...it was just perfect spicy plus tasted great.

We hadn't dined in Chinatown in years, so we found this to be the top-rated restaurant there in TA. Everything was excellent. We took the waiter's recommendations and ordered beef tenderloin, fusion chili fish and egg yolk shrimp. I only wish we could have tried more! Food came quickly, steaming hot.

We had lunch at Go 4 Food yesterday. We chose the restaurant because it got rave reviews on the Chicago TV show, “Check Please.” The restaurant is small and is located on a very congested side street with little to no parking. Their food is really good. We tried the Manila Clams in Black Bean Sauce, Manila Clams in Garlic Sauce, whole Red Snapper, Salted Fish Fried Rice, Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp, and White Rice. Everything was really tasty. Three reasons why my review rating is not as high as it should be; the portions were too small, White Rice was not included with any of our dishes, and the server was adequate but rather sullen and indifferent. Nothing friendly about him. We had a pleasant enough experience here, but the "Check Please" participants may have been overly enthusiastic about this place.

This may be the best Chinese food we have ever had. The decor is understated and the place is not large. The food is more Chinese fusion. We met the owner and spoke to her for a while. She is continuously changing / adding new items to the menu to keep people interested in coming back. They are known (deservingly so) for their fresh and very high quality beef and seafood. Everything is spiced so well, you will add nothing to it. We had the crab rangoon (large and freshly made - best ever), sweet and sour soup (ditto), french style beef (ditto) and 100 spice shrimp (very good). We will be going back and I highly recommend. It is a small place just off the main drag in China Town. She will take reservations.

I've been to many places and tried tons of Asian restaurants now, including CA, but this is the best Chinese food restaurant I have ever been to. It's a small diner, not much space, but the food is extraordinary. As a Chinese myself, I enjoy the meal with them. Service was good, just ask them if you don't know what to order. Recommend!

I work in the area and have had food from almost every restaurant in Chinatown. I have to say this is hands down the best. You can tell the moment you walk in the door that this place cares about thier patrons. The food is served hot, delicious and everything is fresh and made-to-order. Everything I've tried is fantastic. My personal favorites are the Beef with rice noodles, 100 spice chicken and the potstickers. Try this place - you will not be disappointed. They even have fresh lobster!!!

As Asians living in the Midwest, we go to Chicago for our Asian food fix. This restaurant got good reviews, so we decided to eat there over a holiday visit. The waiter was efficient and very attentive. My favorite was the whole steamed bass. Though I did think it was a bit underseasoned, it was delicious. We also ordered the Chinese long green beans. Yummy as well. We ordered a beef tenderloin dish that we thought could have been more tender. We also had the curried fish balls appetizer that had a delicious sauce. Our server did forget to place our order for the mushrooms cooked in a kabocha pumpkin. We were disappointed about that since it takes a while to cook. We didn't want to re-order and wait. Overall, good food.

A good place to go for great eats and very little Ambiance the food was hot and prepared to order the service was friendly. Please don't suggest a 25% tip your feelibfs may get hurt.

This is a cute little place to stop in and eat lunch. The prices are very reasonable, cheap actually and the service is great! It was authentic, clean and cheery place to eat. Easy to find!

We haven't been here in a few years but it is as good as I remembered! The flavors are so good you don't need any sauces. The combo fried rice was delicious and the crab rangoon had real lobster in it. It's also a BYOB.

Absolutely one of the best places to go to in Chinatown, Chicago, IL. Small but charming location a couple of blocks from the "El" and market. Food was outstanding.

I have been to Go 4 Food twice, each time the food was ordered for me (by others). Everything I tried was excellent. I would suggest the special tofu.

Just off Wentworth on 23rd street is an absolutely great little Chinese restaurant with great service and food to equal it. Fresh seafood is the expletive here, but vegetarian, chicken and beef have their place. We had an absolute feast ranging from starting with smelt, moving on to whole sweet and sour fish, japanese tofu in egg batter, and a veggie dish of pea pods and mushrooms. Prices were incredibly low, and the portions simply enormous. The room is inviting but very small. We waltzed in early on Saturday night and had no trouble but folks coming after us got turned away. Reservations on weekend nights are probably a good idea. The menu is in English and Chinese and the patrons are a mix of young and old, but Chinese seem to make-up maybe over 60 to 70 percent. Staff is eager to explain the menu. Many fish specials are listed on a placard on the table. The night we were there they ranged from oysters, dungeness crab to whole lobster at $22.95. One can easily eat here for $10 to $15 per person and the most you are going to spend is for a lobster special. This is an authentic Chinese restaurant which uses very fresh ingredients and does an outstanding job with them. ZB

This is an awesome restaurant! I was a little skeptical walking up because the front is not appealing but the food says otherwise! For starters, the pot stickers are to die. Steamed and lightly fried with lots of flavor and a great sause. I had the seafood pan fried noodles for an entree which were amazing and the sause was outstanding! The portions were huge and an entree can definitely feed more than one! FYI-its BYOB!

First trip to Chicago and the china town district. This place was a gem find for Chinese food Very clean and the staff were helpful making suggestions for food if you want to step out of the comfort zone. Excellent experience.

I ordered in to my hotel because it was raining and driving in Chicago can be a chore with traffic and parking issues. It arrived PIPING HOT and FRESH! WOW Fantastic! I will be going to their restaurant for lunch tomorrow before leaving!

Service was very good and the server really knew the menu. Duck was undercooked and bloody. Sent it back they cooked it a bit too much this time and it was dry. Taco appetizer was very good and the braised beef noodle dish. Our table had a view of the front of the restaurant which contained two dumpsters just outside the window. Not very appetizing. Because of the way our duck dish was prepared and then ruined because of the restaurants mistakes, I would not return. The previous evening we ate at another restaurant in Chinatown where the ducks are hanging in the window and their duck was excellent.

We stopped here for lunch and we were quickly served large portions of Sesame Chicken and 100 Flavors Chicken. The meals came with rice or noodles, a drink and a spring roll for a VERY reasonable $6 each! The place is clean, well-lit and family run. Looking foreward to another trip to Chicago.

Based on a friend's recommendation, we took a cab from Union Station to this eatery located in Chinatown, which opens at 11 am. We ordered three dishes - scallops, deshelled prawns cooked with salted eggs, and French style tenderloin. The scallops were fantastic - fresh and sweet and large, and topped with some vermicelli, chopped spring onions and sweet and delicious soup stock. At $7.95 each before tax, they were relatively inexpensive. The prawns with salted eggs did not go down as well, unfortunately - they were quite bland in taste and a little soggy in texture. The beef was okay, though the taste of five spice (?) seemed a little overpowering. We saw some other diners ordering the chilli crab and they seemed to be enjoying the dish. You should drop in if you happen to be in the area, or long for Chinese/cantonese style food. Service is very good and the waitstaff take the time to explain the different dishes. If you do not wish to order ala-carte, they have lunch specials from $4.95, which include a drink and a spring roll. There is also another restaurant in nearby S Archer Road - Pheonix - which is also quite popular for dim sum. Do note that the Cermak train station is closed till October, and taxis do not ply within Chinatown. Our cabby dropped us outside the perimeter, and we also had to wait 30 mins for a cab to return to Union Station.

Ordered a delivery to my room when I was staying at the South Loop Hotel and was pleased with the experience. The food was very good but I was most happy with the fact they also included plastic ware and paper plates with the order. Little things like this make all the difference.

This small restaurant on a side street don/t get much tourists' attention. My wife and I come here for dinner about once every other month. Their seafood is fresh, sometimes with exotic seasonal choices (e.g. razor clams, abalone, scallop in shells). Our favorites are mushroom stew, French Steak, and golden sand dungeness crab (use the yolk of salty duck eggs as batter before deep frying). Sometimes I will bring office workers from Loop for the $5 lunch plate, including a can of pop and a small egg roll. If you can put up with the driving and parking hassles, you will be rewarded with a fine lunch dining experience no Panda Express can come close.

Imaginative dishes, well prepared with fresh ingredients. Because the dishes are not the usual "Column A/Column B" combination of protein with a mixture of stir-fried vegetables but instead are either just the named protein or just the named vegetable, you need to order with care. If you want a vegetable, order one. Don't assume it will come with the beef, fish or whatever. The waitperson will help. If you do this, you will have a memorable dining experience.

Very small but awesome food! We didn't have to wait at all. Probably because we got there right when it opened for dinner on a Monday night.

Ordered three dishes. The big crab came out wrong and small, steamed fish was over steamed and the razor clam was a tough chew. Service was below average. With this kind of food and service, it’s way too expensive to eat their. I compared similar food with another restaurant down the Wentworth street, it’s no comparison. I will not go to this Go4 Food ever again!

This Chinatown restaurant was close to our hotel so we ordered in. The pot stickers were very doughy and there was no peanut sauce with the satay, but the food was okay. The service was very fast and friendly.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday and glad I did. Lunchtime menu is dirt cheap ($6 -7, with drink) and the portions are more than ample to fill you up. I had the pork chop which came in a delicious red sauce, much too large to finish. Wife had a thai fried rice dish which was flavorful. We both really liked the taco appetizer, a concoction with beef, onion and ??? which you put in a nice fluffy bao. Service great as well. Ambiance . . . nothing to write home about, but the food and the prices more than compensate.

Small restaurant at Chinatown Chicago. We tried hundred spiced chicken and chicken fried rice. They customized the spice level for us. Good service. Nice time we need try crab, shrimp, beef and pork. Disappointed as they didn't take discover card for payment.

Found by chance in a street off main Chinatown, it is worth the long walk from the loop to this restaurant. Delicious food with prompt service at very reasonable prices. Option of fresh crab in lobster

All of the dishes were outstanding as was the service. We had a variety of dishes for our group of 9 people. Everyone enjoyed dishes like hit and sour soup, shrimp stuffed egg plant, Cantonese friend chicken, sweet and sour whole fish, chili fusion shrimp, tofu with egg yolk, lemon chicken, basil chicken and, of course, the pot stickers. I highly recommend Go 4 Food Restaurant!

One day visiting my mom in Chinatown, she told us to try this restaurant. She said the owner of it is my former high school mate. I just had to go and visit. It was so nice to see Mary and her husband, Dennis. We were impressed of the food presentation and the taste that we have been back. We live so far away from Chicago that it takes a good 3 hours to go but sure it is worth the trip! Love all the fresh Seafood! Try the Scallops and the Oyters! They are scrumptious! It is not a big place but it is at least clean and comfortable. I would recommend this place to my friends.

The price is also ok, not expensive but not also very cheap depends on what you get. I cannot complain about the taste of any of food I tried, but I would love to have a glass of wine, which didn't exist. The decoration and atmosphere was cheap. We were six and they didn't accept that we pay separately.

Terrific beef tenderloin dish and chicken dishes. Nothing fancy but great food. The crab dishes are too messy for the trouble. Tasty but hard to get at.

The restaurant had fusion between southasia and Chinese food. The indonisian chicken was well cooked, so was curry fish ball.

You wouldn't go here for ambiance, but the food was delicious. It's mostly take-out orders which stream into the place constantly. I just wish we had a great place like this out in the boonies.

Was looking for an out of the way place in Chinatown with a slightly different approach to food preparation and a menu that wouldn't take a degree in culinary art to process. This place was awesome! Don't be fooled by it's outside appearance or decor. Quite simply this were the best Chinese food I've experienced in he last few years. Menu was simple yet inclusive, prices were quite reasonable, food was fresh and perfectly prepared with large portion sizes. On street parking a plus. Minor issues- this is not a place to dine if decor is critical to your experience- and the place is small- probably seating 30-40 patrons if they're friendly. If you don't try the green beans...you should be ashamed of yourself!

Had the garlic lobster, hot & sour soup, some vegetable dish (that's all i can remember about that), and spicy beef. lobster was fresh and cooked well. the soup was excellent, one of the best I've had in the city with the right amount of spice and even had lobster meat in it. the place was clean but pretty small and furnishings (table & chairs) not great, but better than most of other chinatown places.

I lived in Hong Kong for 19 years, and I am always on the lookout for authentic Cantonese food in the Chicago area. This place is one of our favorites. If you want a modestly priced lunch, try the lunch specials for $5. We like the Scrambled Egg and shrimp. If you like boiled Won Ton, that is a good choice as well. If you like Hong Kong style Western food, (not to be confused with Western style Chinese food), try the Portugese Chicken on Rice or the Baked Pork Chop on Rice. The Pei Pa Tofu is a great item from the dinner menu. The staff is friendly and the service is courteous. You will be happy that you went.

The last time my wife and I dined at a traditional Chinese restaurant was in 1976, on our honeymoon, in San Francisco, on our way to Hawaii. I don't remember what I ate but I do recall that I enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. So here we are, in Chicago's Chinatown, having our second meal at a Chinese restaurant. Friends recommended Go 4 Food at 212 West 23rd Street, between Princeton and Indiana, near the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, and since we had never been to Chinatown we decided it was time. Open from 11 to 9 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 11 to 10 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Go 4 Food is a Michelin award winner that serves creative Chinese and Asian cuisine with a modern take on Cantonese-style cooking. It's a BYOB operation that specializes in French style beef tenderloin, walnut shrimp, crab Rangoon, sweet and sour Chinese style ribs and salted egg yolk shrimp. The menu is an exhausting adventure that covers everything from soup to nuts. We started with egg rolls, pork and shrimp potstickers and bowls of vegetable soup and chicken and sweet corn in cream soup. For her entree, my wife chose sweet and sour chicken. I opted for one of the house's best sellers, French style beef tenderloin with fried rice. For dessert, we had bubble waffles. What are bubble waffles? An egg waffle with an almost custard taste. It consists of egg whites, egg yolks, sugar, butter, vanilla, milk, flour, baking powder and cornstarch. San Francisco, revisited.

I enjoyed the best meal I’ve had in about a year at this bustling dive tucked away on a side street from the main drag in Chinatown. The waiter quickly recommended three dishes that were fantastic. The waiter: he was incredibly articulate, friendly, patient and just the right amount of solicitous. We ordered the szechuan lobster, the beef cubes and the pork belly buns. It was relatively cheap, but gloriously good. I’ll be coming back soon.

I went there based on review from TripAdvisor and Yelp. It is Chinese fusion; hence, the foods are not traditional Chinese. I'm a Chinese from Hong Kong and married to a "White Cracker ". Therefore, Chinese fusion is not a problem. The place is very small, but busy. The waiter speaks fluent English and was very courteous. Based on his recommendation, we ordered the Taco Bao as appetizer. It was probably the best dish. The French Beef that everyone wrote about was not that great. Some are chewy because of undercooked. The crab and fish maw soup was ok, has a lot of meats in it. So it was kind of worth it. The worst was the marinated ducks, had to send it back because of undercooked. Then of course, it came back overcooked, but at least we wouldn't gotten sick. The only fresh seafood dish we ordered was the steamed fresh tilipia. It was a bit overcooked as all Chinese knows how important it is to have the fish steamed just right. The beef chow fun was alright. Hoping to have the papaya dessert, but was told it is gone for couple months. Ended up with the almond sweet soup, not smooth enough. The biggest heartache was the charge of the only market price dish, tilipia fish, over $24. I can see $16-18, not 24. 4 of us weren't stuffed like we did the night before in Seven Treasures and have cost twice as much. Forgot to mentioned a charge for white rice as well. If you still decide to go there after reading this review, note that you can bring alcohol there with a $2.5 cork fee. We saw many did, beer, wine, champagne. Many order their seafood like crab, scallops, and oysters, maybe it is better. But be aware that they are all market price items.

What a treat to find this jewel in China Town! The dinner magnificent ... Fresh and the spices out of this world ! A new favourite .

Read all the raves about this place. No atmosphere and food just just about inedible. Chicken was undercooked. When we pointed out the raw pieces, were told that’s ‘Chinese style’. Chinese ribs were all fat. Fried rice was tasteless. Egg rolls were ok, and the best of the meal was the wonton soup- with a little spice to the rich broth. Honestly thought I had gone to the wrong place

It's not so secret anymore now that it's been on the TV show Check Please, but this awesome eatery in Chinatown is terrific. I fell in love with the French Style Beef Tenderloin, absolutely love it. The owner (Wendy) is so wonderful, she explained each dish and its multiple origins, can't wait to go back. If your looking for great food, "Go 4 Food" is the place to go. Oh by the way It's a BYOB and no corking fee.

I can't complain about the food it was good. The reason why I'm rated it poor was the service it was just so bad. I'm a waitress myself therefore I tend to be understanding but this was just awful service. My friends and I went in after a concert we from Wisconsin do we had to drive. Anyway our first waiter was nice and spoke more English but then we got a different waiter I ordered milk tea and I already received my food and my drink wasn't delivered to me so I asked our new waiter which seemed mad when I asked about my drink. He also had no idea what I was talking about because he did not speak English that well he then told me Rudely that there was no more, do I told the other waiter he was nice but still I didn't receive my drink until everybody was done with dinner. Also my friend ordered the pineapple fried rice and he never received it, they never specified that the fried river did not come in the pineapple as shown on the picture. Our food was all delivered at very different times we never got more tea they never gave us iced water or rice. I'm sorry but if this message is read my the manager or owner you need to improve the service it was really bad and I hate to say it but we left very disappointed.

I booked one of the private meals at Go 4 Food back in July. You give them your budget, food preferences/dislikes, number of guests, and a time and they craft an individual, off-menu dinner just for you. With a week left to go before our dinner, I had to push my reservation back one night due to an unexpected obligation. They were very reasonable and happy to accommodate. Then, the night before our dinner, my wife came down with a nasty cold. She was feeling better the next day (the day of our dinner) but was completely congested and wasn't able to taste anything. She figured such a special meal might be wasted so I emailed to see if they could possibly push us back just a little further. As I expected, they had already purchased many unique ingredients for our meal and would still have to charge me a portion of our initial budget – a completely reasonable request. My wife and I ultimately decided to attend anyway, as my wife felt decent enough that she'd prefer to try and enjoy as much of the meal as she could with a stuffed nose rather than lose out on the extra money it would take to push our reservation. The moment we walked in the door, the waiter began by asking my wife how she was feeling. He then brought her out some warm lemon tea to help. She was floored by such a simple but caring motion. From there, we started our meal, course by course and every dish was more spectacular than the last. The seafood was fresh, the flavors (sorry wife) were outstanding, and all the while, the waiter checked in regularly to see how we were doing. At one point, the owner and (with some translation help from the owner) the head chef came out to see what we thought. We had a wonderful conversation and expressed our sincere gratitude for the hospitality and appreciation for the wonderful personalized meal. 10/10 would absolutely go 4 more food!!

I went with my family ( husband and 2 kids ages 4 and 6 ). We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, tea smoked duck, millionaire fried rice and pot stickers. The duck was AMAZING! The fried rice was good, but wetter than we're used to. The pot stickers were very doughy, but the sauce was delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was good, very traditional American version, which is what my kids like.

I’m so surprised to read a few negative reviews. Our party of 4 had a delicious dinner! The service was great - our host offered up wonderful suggestions. The beef tenderloin and red snapper was outstanding. The prices were very reasonable as well. We’ll definitely go back.

Went for lunch and loved it! Don't be scared away by the outside, it is very clean and welcoming. Had lunch with a colleague while in Chicago for work. Had the Hong Kong Style Curry Fish Balls and the French Style Beef Tenderloin, both of which were great. Do it family style and order several different mains to share them all. Service was very nice.

If you think of Cantonese cuisine as predictable, Go 4 Food will be a pleasant surprise. This is one of the most imaginative, original Cantonese-style restaurants in Chicago's Chinatown. Because it is out of the way, not on any of the main streets, many have yet to discover it. But the ingredients are fresh, the cooking is absolutely perfectly done, and the atmosphere pleasant and quiet, if plain. A real gem.

Chose this restaurant on favourable reviews. We were not disappointed. Small and nothing flash about the decor. Food is excellent. The helpful staff explained different dishes and we soon had a table full of hot wonderful food. The dishes are huge. Bring a few friends or be prepared to take a to go box home.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful lunch here on Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year), We had 3 adults and 3 kids and everybody ate well. The kids loved the Orange Chicken (so did the adults). We ordered based on reviewers recommendations - Oysters, Scallops (in ginger - yum), Steak, Veggie Platter. Every dish was very good. Dennis, the owner, is very helpful with ordering and also great with kids! It is also the CLEANEST restaurant in Chinatown that I have ever been to. We are planning to have my husband's b-day here in May.

We visited for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We had a giant scallop and giant oyster as an appetizer. Both were specials and had very nice sauces. The Tea Smoked Duck, French Style Beef Tenderloin and Millionaire Fried Rice were out of this world. It's very reasonable. It's a BYOB so come prepared if you want adult beverages. The owner is the nicest guy and always makes excellent suggestions.

I've had food from here twice when I visited Chicago last Summer and last weekend. Chicago Chinatown is definitely the place to have some authentic Chinese food. Both of the times I ate at Go4Food, I was absolutely delighted because the food was really really good. The 100 Spiced Beef Spare Ribs, Combination Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Shrimp are must try dishes. But other kinds of dishes are also good. The place is really small but they accept reservations. The prices were also very decent plus the service was good.

I had read good reviews from other sites as from the outside, it would probably not be a place I would normally visit, however, it was quite good. The inside seating was nicer than I expected although there are not that many tables and reservations can be made. We asked for some recommendations and there was nothing out of the ordinary so we stuck with the bloggers' choices and added a few of our own. We chose the french style beef tenderloin, shell-on shrimp in salted egg yolk, poached manila clams with xo sauce, 1 steamed oyster, and 1 steamed scallop with fried garlic and vermicelli. The individual steamed shellfish came out last. The beef came out first and was tender but a little underseasoned. The shrimp was rich and very tasty. The manila clams were slightly salty but plentiful. The oyster was enormous and was satisfactory but the scallop despite being slightly more expensive and not as large as the oyster, definitely tasted sweeter and the garlic and vermicelli were nice complements to the taste. Overall, a place I would definitely return with a group to try more items.

My wife and I had lunch Labor Day. Place is smallish, and not at all fancy, but the food is fabulous, and it is not expensive. We had steamed oysters in garlic and onion sauce as an appetizer....heavenly! We over ordered, knowing we would have leftovers. We ordered clams with spicy black bean sauce, french style tenderloin, and mixed Chinese vegetables, plus rice and tea. Everything was great.....lots of clams, good quality beef with a wonderful savory taste, and great veggies. Service was attentive, good English spoken. We will return, and bring friends!

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant outside of China. We always start with the taco bao, beef and crunchy cabbage with steamed buns. It killed me not to order the salt and pepper egg tofu tonight, but one must try new things. We had lamb stir fried with cumin and onions, which was more nuanced than I’ve had before. The seafood dishes are always amazing. Tonight we had the chili fusion shrimp. Delicious. I also recommend any of the clam dishes. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Food was excellent at a great price, waiter was friendly, service was good. Highly recommended. I think the name is a bit strange, but hey, it's Chinatown.

Wow! I cannot say enough about this restaurant. We were visiting on thanksgiving, so planned a trip to Chinatown for Dunch given all the closures downtown. Just happened to find this spot by luck, and how fortunate we were. This is among the best authentic Asian cuisine we’ve ever had. The venue is unassuming, but the food is not. We recommend the French tenderloin, razor clams, and above all else, the tea smoked duck, which was absolutely perfect. We had the chance to chat with Wendy the owner, and her passion for seafood especially poured out of her as we chatted. We like to eat at a place where they are excited about their food. This is a hidden gem in Chicago’s Chinatown and we will absolutely be back. ❤️

We wanted Chinese but didn't want to leave our hotel so we had this delivered. We ordered 1 meal, 1 order of eggdrop soup and 1 order for fried rice and it was enough to feed a family of 4. Very good and reasonably priced.

We decided to come to this restaurant because a friend with us has a peanut allergy and they are an allergy friendly restaurant. Our server was very helpful explaining dishes to us and making recommendations. We tried things we normally wouldn't and they were wonderful!!! It is a fusion restaurant so they don't have your typical Chinese restaurant dishes, but if you are willing to go outside the box a little bit it will be worth it! Here are a few dishes we loved: appetizer, taco bao and crab rangoon. Dinner, French style beef tenderloin and chili fusion lobster.

Small, charming restaurant on W. 23rd just off of Wentworth. The food was expertly seasoned and prepared, the service was great and the ambiance cozy and clean. Milo, our AirBnB host, and his family own this restaurant. Thank you Milo for all You have done in providing us a fantastic China Town experience!

Had french beef tenderloin. Wonton soup, seafood pan fried noodle. Timing was just right for seating. Food prompt, hearty and tastefully filling.

Refined Cantonese food with English friendly staff. Few of our dishes was more spicy than the other traditional Cantonese restaurants but we like it. Skip the pot stickers, they were ok only.

This has been our go to place since its opened, I live half my life in chicago half in hong kong, so when I say this is good chinese food, this is good. The place is clean, server are polite and speak English, most importantly food is good-- authentic cantonese food! Their seafood I would say is best value in town, they got them live from the seafood market and cook it fresh, try their crab, scallop, oyster and the best is the big clam! Out of all the places in chicago Chinatown, this is only place that serve real modern Cantonese food

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. The spring rolls are heavenly. The taco bao is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The orange chicken melts in your mouth. The Chinese ribs are the best I’ve ever had. The service is unbelievable. Do yourself a HUGE favor and eat here IMMEDIATELY.

Tucked away on 23rd St off the old Chinatown main street, Go 4 Food sounds like a highly suspicious restaurant waiting to feed customers with overly sweet/salty Americanized Chinese fare. Honestly, what kind of name is Go 4 Food? Usually, I would not even consider stepping in. But with so many good reviews, I had to try it out. We were celebrating my mum and brother's birthdays together. So that means lots of fresh seafood! At last, a restaurant whose menu does not prominently feature crab rangoon and sesame chicken. We started off with a complimentary lotus root and sweet potato soup. Then, we had salted egg dungeness crab, salt and pepper prawns, steamed fresh fish and garlic stir fried pea pods. My mum could not stop saying how good the food was. Fish and crab were fresh from the tank but I doubt the prawns were. Regardless, we enjoyed them very much. We ended the meal with some warm pumpkin sai mai lo, which was also complimentary. If you want a affordable authentic Cantonese meal, I highly recommend Go 4 Food.

I stopped by this place solo during my first trip to Chicago and is also my very first food tasting in the city, and I really enjoyed my experience. They were prompt with my order and since no one was there when I arrived, I easily found a seat in the small restaurant. I ordered the Hong Kong Style Curry Fish Balls and the Chili Fusion Dungeness Crab. Reminded me so much of when I was in Singapore and had their style of food. The food came out pretty quick (I guess since I was there first before a couple came in) and boy was it tasty! The crab portion was huge!! I couldn't finish it myself but I made sure I made a dent. Crab was fresh and the flavors were on point. The fish balls had a nice chewy texture with yummy marinade to it. Although these selections were pretty great to eat, I still think the versions I had in Singapore were slightly better in quality and taste. But for being able to get this in the States is pretty awesome. I highly recommend this place and they even gave me a HUGE discount on the crab. I expected to pay around $35 based on other reviewers but they only charged me a third of that :) I will visit again when I'm back in town!

We ate lunch here today.....lunch specials are very reasonable....but were so eager to try the "good stuff" that we ordered off the dinner menu. We wanted the steamed giant oysters with scallions, but they only had one oyster, so we split it.....wonderful. We had the very best seafood hot and sour soup that I have ever eaten.....hot, peppery, full of goodies....wonderful. I ordered Hong Kong style Dungeness crab...one of the pricier items on the menu......a truly wonderful dish that must be eaten with the hands. One thing different than many Chinese restaurants is that most dishes are not "stirfried" with sauce and vegetables......most dishes seem to be meat, or fish with only a little vegetable for accent. So....we ordered a small mixed vegetables....pea pods, broccoli, carrots, bokchoy, baby corn and lotus root.....excellent, crisp, flavorful dish. My wife for some reason ordered the tangarine porkchops....we got about 8 or 9 fried chops....too many....and a little dry. We had way too much food, but so much of it was wonderful, and I ate until I could eat no more. This is a great place for seafood.....steamed fish, clams, lobster, crabs, abalone, razor clams, etc......in addition to shrimp and scallops.....stuff you don't normally see in a lot of Chinese restaurants. I have never had a bad meal in Chinatown, and this place is one of the best. The decor is not fancy, but is is clean and bright, and the service is good. Menu is in English.

A hidden gem. We heard about the restaurant on Check Please and finally went there. The lack of ambience is more than made up by the quality and taste of the food. We will definitely return. Our only disappointment is that they don't deliver to our area.

The food is very good. The server recommended the French style beef tenderloin which we found to be very tender and tasty, it was deep fried which made it amazing. The salted egg yolk shrimp was packed with plenty of egg yolk costing and was our favorite entrée. The Razor Clam was delicious. The Hong Kong Pan Fried Noodles was the only disappointment, lacking in flavor. The server was nice and our food came out fast. The restaurant is very small and there was only one other table besides ours, they did more carryout than dine-ins. The place is located on a side street and we happened to see their A Frame menu sign. We wanted to order some of the items on their sign and the server said some of the items we wanted like the beef casserole were their lunch menus and not on their dinner menu. The prices are more expensive than other places in Chinatown but they do have some unique entrees. We will return and try other entrees.

I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. This restaurant was recommended to me and my friends from someone who lives in Chinatown. The service and food were excellent and the price was completely reasonable. The food portions were large and tasted great while the service was outstanding-some of the best I have ever had in my life! If you go ask for Dennis or Victor and you won't be sorry.

I contacted Go 4 Food to arrange a Saturday lunch for the high school International Club for which I am a sponsor. I could not have made a better choice in Chinatown. Milo originally agreed to 18 but when 25 showed up, he was able to re-tool the kitchen to make us a fantastic lunch within our budget. In addition to accommodating more people Milo also explained his food concept to the group. The pan-Asian concept was evident in the menu. Service was great. Everyone enjoyed learning and eating at the same time.

The dishes are decent, but nothing special. The price is also reasonable. The same with the service. However not sure of recommend to others.

The food is delicious. The service is good, but not overly friendly. The space is small, so feels pretty local. A great spot to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine.

Our group of 7 had dinner at Go 4 Food on October 9. Wendy, the owner and chef, recommended to us the fresh Alaskan red king crab she had. The crab, prepared three ways - salt and pepper, Hong Kong Style and roe cooked fried rice - was out of the world. We also had the hot and sour seafood soup, french style tenderloin, steamed jumbo oysters with black bean sauce, eggplant in spicy sauce and salted yolk egg tofu. All of the dishes were excellent. What great food! Go 4 Food deserves the ratings it has earned and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is not your local Americanized Chinese restaurant. It is great Chinese fusion food and the freshest seafood. It is a small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation on weekends during peak hours. Also, it is a BYO liquor restaurant. Oh, the prices are very reasonable for the type and quality of food. Lastly, the service is very friendly starting with the owner. This is a must go restaurant in Chicago!

WE stayed in the River North Area, where there are a ton of restaurants. But I wanted seafood, and I wanted the best! It seemed to me that Go 4 Food was the right choice. And I was right. Plus, we took the El train, where we caught it a short 3 blocks from our hotel. It was a short and extremely SAFE ride to Chinatown. It was part of a great experience. A party of four, we called ahead for reservations. We also found out this is a BYOB restaurant, with no corkage fees, so we brought a couple bottles of wine along. When we were seated, we were told that they would move us to a larger table when one opened up, and it did before our food arrived. Victor, an owner, was a wonderful host. A very generous man who took the time to talk to us throughout our meal, and to remember everyone's name upon introduction. Now the food....every single dish was obviously fresh and had a light airy flavor about it. There were no heavy overbearing sauces in any of our dishes. We started out our meal with the crab meat and fish maw soup. Fresh, sweet crab and fish with a wonderful finish. It was a tip that a great meal was coming. Baby bok choy in garlic. Delightful! Sweet and garlicy, tasted fresh out of the garden. Steamed fresh fish. Every succulent morsel of this fish was cooked to perfection. Flaky, sweet & light. Oysters with ginger and green onion, Y-U-M! THE OYSTERS WERE HUGE AND SWEET! The ginger and green onions blended perfectly in this dish. I'll order this every time I visit this restaurant (which will be every time I go to Chicago from now on). Finally, the black pepper shrimp....I'd probably have not ordered, as one in our party wanted these....and I'll say, they were amazing! Light and flavorful! Finally, Victor wanted us to try some desserts 'on the house', and we had some lichee freezes, which I highly recommend. I cant wait to try these on a hot summer day, they are so delicious, and we also had the taro tapioca. Lovely lovely food. I can't say enough of how in every way, this was a fabulous experience. Everyone in our party agreed, "it was one of the best restaurant experiences of ALL TIME. THANK YOU VICTOR.....you are a great host. See you next time, my friend!!

If you're looking for nice ambience then don't come here. BUT if you're looking for authentic Chinese food in the middle of Chicago, then head to Go 4 Food! The salted shrimp was soooooo good!!! Order one! If you're coming with a big group, make a reservation since the place is small and the number of people at a given time is very limited.
Excellent Chinese seafood at reasonable price.
This is a small place that maybe can hold 20 people at most, but the food was top notch quality. We had the fresh lobster for $23, the salt and pepper fried Japanese egg tofu and the French style beef tenderloin. Off the beaten path in Chinatown, but well worth it!
