Cute concept, but still working out the kinks

By BethyB22 |

We went here with some family during an admittedly very busy day, as it was the Manayunk Arts Festival. The hostess was cheery and seated us within a few minutes. Most of the servers seemed a little stressed, and I though the kitchen tried to keep up with orders things lagged. So much so that they did offer a round of drinks to those who were waiting. We didn't take them up on the offer, but I thought it would have been nice if they had taken the beer off that my companion had before they announced a free round. (We did wait a long time afterall). The strange thing was that the wait was for salads. The sliders came out a good 45 minutes before the salads arrived. For some reason we had anticipated that it would be the opposite. My fiance and I will probably give it a shot on a day when they are not so slammed, and hopefully will have better results!

Family brunch nightmare

By Carly D |

Waited 40 mins for the fry appetizer & an hour for food and it was not busy. The potato’s taste like nothing and the breakfast burrito smells like a wet dish rag and was served cold. The second floor lingers of a rotten egg smell. Not sure why this place has high ratings, 0/10 do NOT recommend going here. Save your money and prevent feeling nauseous and go somewhere else.

Early Family Dinner

By John R |

Very nice place in Manayunk. We were there at 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon. I found the environment to be very relaxing not too noisy etc. The service was very good. The menu satisfied the diverse tastes of our family and everyone enjoyed their dish. The food quality was good and seemed very fresh. The upstairs dining room was roomy and cool on a hot day. Prices were reasonable as well. Very casual-come as you are type of place. I will be back for sure.

Great atmosphere!

I loved it here! They offer very rich, bar food. I got the lamb meatballs which I will rate 6/10 just because the sauce on top of them was very rich. But everything else was outstanding! Including the drinks :)

Very Trendy

By Chris C |

We met one of my High School girl friends and her Husband for diner and drinks. The Staff was very attentive and gracious to have us there. We ordered Wings for an appetizer, I ate Fish Tacos ( The best I ever ate. ) and my Wife ate the Cheese Burger, this was great too. They really take good care of the customers, especially if you’re a Gator. Chomp, Chomp. Meet to take Picture before we started to but they were too Good.

Great food and wine

By welchr1 |

Quick meal whilst on business trip. Had the Chicken Tikka and a wonderful wine recommended by Justin. Prompt, attentive friendly service without being overbearing. Food was delicious. I sat upstairs which was quieter than the downstairs bar area. Didn't think I was going to get a seat! Manager also stopped by which was a kind touch! Readily recommend.

Well worth a visit!

My salmon was wonderful. My husband had the steak mac & cheese and loved it. Cocktails quirky and tasty. Service and server fantastic. Couldn't ask for more.

Dissapointed...

If you notice, I reviewed the Goats Beard back in February and gave it a rave review. I had such a great experience the first time that I was dying to go back. Unfortunately this experience wasn't as good as the first one. Our waitress Hailey was just as great as she was the first time I had been there, but they got rid of their signature drink the cucumber gimlet. This drink was downright awesome. And let me tell you, I order this drink everywhere and maybe 5 out of ten times its serviceable, and 2 out of 10 times its excellent. This was one of those two times it was excellent. They replaced it with a 'similarish' cucumber drink, but not nearly as good as the gimlet they made before. The food was still very good. The ham and cheese as well as the gnocchi mac & cheese were both excellent. The breakfast burger was just ok. I don't mean to totally harp on the drink thing - which I know I am doing - but when you are excellent at something, you don't just get rid of the thing you are great at. I am all for adding new drinks to the menu, have at it. But getting rid of your signature drink? Bad call. I don't live in Manayunk and made a special trip to go back. Admittedly, it left me rather disappointed. It's not just the food that keeps people coming back. Its the drinks...the atmosphere...the overall experience. The Goats Beard has a lot to offer. Just wish they recognized how good they were at making a drink they no longer valued.

Nice atmosphere, terrible service, food so so

By 480Sue |

I went for brunch on a Sunday. They seemed to be struggling with very basic restaurant functions. For example: They could not find two menus for two people, we shared one until a second was found Coffee was served without cream and sugar. Took almost ten minutes to get some, then the cream curdled in the coffee. Could not get the attention of the waitress, finally did, brought more cream, also curdled. The manager was very receptive and brought fresh cream. By now 30 minutes had passed since we were seated Meals were served one at a time. In general, food for both people should be brought at the same time Asked for salt and pepper. Served went downstairs to get the large pepper shaker (did not seem to want to let me use it) but no salt. Another trip downstairs for salt shaker. Many restaurants put salt and pepper on the table. The food was OK, not great. Avocado toast was room temperature, I think it had been sitting for a while. My friend had the salmon egg scramble which was odd - expected the salmon to be scrambled with the eggs but was in a large shredded pile separately. They did comp us for the coffee (will repeat it took 25 minutes to get two cups of coffee with cream and sugar) and 25% off the bill. I think the worst thing was that the waitress, Emily, was oblivious. She never apologized about anything and seemed slightly peeved at us for bothering her.

Good food!

By karen p |

My four collegues and I had dinner at this small Manayunk restaurant just outside of Philly. The menu had over 40 varieties of whiskey and several strange (to me) types of beer. The food was good, if not very prompt. The wait staff was friendly but there weren't enough of them to manage the large business crowd that accumulated between 7-8pm...this was a Wednesday evening, so that says a lot for the quality of the food and drink!

Love this place!!!

By Maryam S |

Everyone is really friendly and food is great! Amazing experience all in all! Steve, the general manager, is pretty cool too! :)

Locally Produced Fare, Good Drinks and Pleasant Atmosphere

By joanz359 |

A friend and I were looking for a place on 4th of July before going to a movie and this was our choice. There is seating outside, however, we opted for the bar area which had comfortable leather chairs for the high top tables and a nice-sized bar.. We sat at the bar . There is a special cocktail menu that we ordered from and the drinks were reasonably priced and good. I had a pork belly sandwich and my friend opted for a burger. Both were good choices. There was a good selection of entrees and appetizers. We would have stayed for dessert but running late. i would go back.

Cute place - Food was pretty good.

By maui315 |

The restaurant looks a little different now than pictured above. We sat outside in a nice patio area that has a privacy wall from the street. The food was good - Enjoyed the pizza. Salad came peppered and was to much for out table even though we like pepper.

Charming Pub

By ConnecticutReader |

Fabulous cocktails of all varieties from wines to martinis to fabulous whisky drinks. We only had apps., but they were delicious. Their fries are to die for and the ahi tuna salad is both artistic and scrumptious.

Decent food, horrid service

By Jere1 |

Went for brunch last weekend and the service was atrocious. We were told we couldn't substitute egg whites for regular eggs on one order. The waitress just said no. Didn't ask the chef or anything, just no. My wife ordered the vegetarian gyro, but it came to our table with meat on it, so we sent it back. The waitress apologized a few times, but it took about 30 minutes for her gyro to come back without meat on it. By the time her food came, the other three of us at the table had finished eating, which made it awkward. We also had to ask the waitress multiple times for more water. It wasn't particularly busy in the restaurant. The waitress apologized a few times for the service, but didn't actually do anything to fix it. Just bad service.

Unreliable and Unprofessional for Private Parties

By Jessica T |

DO *NOT* BOOK A PRIVATE EVENT HERE!!! Looking for a place to host a bridal or baby shower, rehearsal dinner, birthday or graduation party? NOT HERE!! Don’t risk it. Goat's Beard (Manayunk) CANCELED my rehearsal dinner *by email* ONE MONTH before my wedding and more than six months after I'd first reserved the room. Apparently they'd "double booked" and it "never happens". (Sure, Jan) Didn't offer to reimburse me for the invitations I'd printed or several tastings I'd had there with family/bridesmaids (all of which they knew about). Didn't offer to close part of the main dining room and host it there. Didn't even offer some token gift certificate. Just kicked us to the curb and said they'd found a less nice, less expensive restaurant down the street that had availability and the (less expensive) restaurant was willing to host our dinner *for the same price.* Thanks? Oh, AND cherry on top was they went ahead and shared our personal information with the other restaurant without consulting us first. Finding a replacement that close to the wedding was NOT fun. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Comfort during the Blizzard

By John K |

The Goat's Beard was one of the few restaurants open during the February blizzard. Surprisingly the menu was extensive. The Manhattan was a bit heavy with Vermouth. We were seated next to the side door. The intoxicated couple, part of a larger, somewhat loud group , were in and out of the bathroom together and then in and out of the restaurant. Quite entertaining and chilly being next to the opening door. The food was great, so too was the service and the entertainment. I look forward to the next Blizzard. Snow is in the forecast tomorrow.

Expensive water

By mshoppes9 |

Atmosphere was delightful, service was slow, and I paid $6 for two plastic cups of water. Paid $3 for a Bloody Mary? Paid $10 for the very delicious Mac and cheese, however assuming you are a very petite pre-pubescent girl the "meal" will almost fill you up.

Very slow service

By Barbara L |

We had reservations for a party of four for brunch on Sunday. The website did not make clear that only the Limited brunch menu was served from 11 AM til 2 PM. We couldn’t get a salad, not even a small side salad added onto a brunch selection, even though the hamburger (on the Brunch menu) came with lettuce and tomatoes on the side. We ordered hot tea, they only had green tea and earl gray tea, not even “plain black tea” and it was served in a small 6 ounce cup. It took more than an hour to have our orders brought to our table. The staff was very pleasant; 3 different servers apologized for the delay and said our food was coming out. The food was good and the portions large, but it wasn’t worth the wait. Next time we’ll try another restaurant in Manayunk.

Restaurant Week

By ruthannmalcolm |

Recently visited the Goat's Beard for the second time while visiting my daughter in Manayunk. This year my visit happened to be during Restaurant Week in Manayunk. So happy we chose Goat's Beard to have dinner at that evening. Our reservation was later in the evening but we ended up arriving an hour earlier asking if we would be able to get a table. They were very accommodating and was able to seat us with no problem. The servers and waitress were top notch. We decided on the Steak Mac and Cheese and for dessert was Fried Brownie. They also serve craft beer and wine. All I can say about our mean is -- phenomenal. I will be having dinner there again on my next visit. I definitely give Goat's Beard an excellent rating. They are very deserving of it.

Great bar to hangout

By Archie |

We enjoyed a drink at the bar on a Friday evening. It has a simple decor, outside seating and indoor seating. There is paid parking in multiple locations. We enjoyed the crafted cocktails. The bartenders are very friendly. We had a vodka with fig and lime and a banana old fashioned.

Little treasure

By momof7ds |

Very small but quaint restaurant. Had a most delicious vegetable Napoleon served on a bed of delightfully seasoned Farro. I could have eaten a bowl of the Farro alone, it was that good! They seem to be known for their mussels; my dinner companion had her sights set on them. Evidently lots of people do and they are known to run out so check before you make a special trip. I am new to the area and will certainly be back to try a burger for sure! (If I can give up the Farro!)

Great food, slow service

By Brian W |

Visited here Friday night for a birthday dinner for my son. It was our first time here and we were excited to try the different things that where on the menu. My son and I had the Goat Burger which was probably one of the best burgers that I had ever ordered. My wife got the fish tacos and they were very good also. Service was slow for getting the drinks and water. The food came at a reasonable time. The dessert was fabulous which was a deep fried brownie with ice cream. If you are in a hurry this is probably not the place to go to eat, but if you do not mind a nice relaxing dinner that takes some time. this would be the place. The restaurant is also a little pricey so be prepared to spend some money.

PA gem

By Jeannie K |

Great little spot I found on a business trip. Had appetizer- cheese stake egg rolls that were delicious. Limited wine choices - it’s all about the whiskey and spirits. Great service and definitely would recommend!!

A New Spot in Wayne

By phillyshrink |

Goat's Beard, a neighborhood restaurant in Philadelphia is now also a neighborhood restaurant in Wayne. They specialize in whiskey and locally sourced food. The menu is not extensive and they only have so much of each dish. They emphasize that everything is fresh, never frozen so they can run out as we learned when my wife and daughter ordered fish tacos and fish and chips. Both fish were out. Not to worry. My wife was delighted with her curry of vegetables and pineapple. My daughter was equally pleased with her caesar salad, mac and cheese and street corn (no carb fears here). I had a top notch hamburger, obviously freshly made, excellent quality meat accompanied by great fries. Their beers on tap are far fewer in number than their bourbons and ryes. They also have a modest wine list. Friendly staff, attentive but not intrusive service. I imagine they will do very well in Wayne even surrounded by competing restaurants.

Eclectic Dining in Nirth Philadelphia

By ontheroadagain27 |

Combine friendly service in an eclectic restaurant with all things goat and you have this establishment. The menu is fixed each evening with 5 main courses. The appetizers and salads will get you ready for the main event. Nothing to "nay" about here.

Holy yumminess!

By metrochik |

Dined here with a friend after flying in from NC one mid week evening. The interior is dark and cozy with seating at the bar, high tables and low tables in the back, all very rustic meets contemporary. We started with cocktails and shared a few apps. The beet tartare is a delicious salad of diced roasted beets, deep fried quinoa, capers with a whipped goat cheese spread and sliced homemade potato chips. Just delicious! We also sampled the pork and kimchi fries: basically pulled pork over cheese fries with kimchi on top! Spicy, salty, crunchy, fresh, smoky all in one bite! Our last sampling was a roasted cauliflower salad with sun dried tomatoes, arugula, red onion, cilantro, grapes and a balsamic dressing. The food is carefully, thoughtfully prepared with an eye towards teasing your palate with a variety of flavors and textures. It was late and we ate light. But there are plenty of other things I plan to try on my next visit. The slow braised lamb shank and the day boat scallops are on my radar for next time.

Delicious Food and Drinks

By samantha c |

Came here for dinner one night. It does get busy! I would make a reservation if your more than two, otherwise you can probably wait out a place at the bar which is full service. Very friendly staff though during peak times service can get a bit slow at the bar for obvious reasons. We had delicious drinks so we didn't mind waiting! Would highly recommend the steak mac & cheese! Will definitely be coming back here!! Nice atmosphere as well.

Great local pub...

Stopped in for lunch. Atmosphere was friendly and warm. Service was terrific. Good was very good. All in all, definitely recommend. They were serving brunch and lunch. Menu had a nice variety.

Wonderful restaurant!

We had a wonderful dinner there and a lovely, attentive waitress! The food is delicious and beautifully seasoned. We will definitely return!

Sunday Brunch Great Time

By peacockprinceton |

Went with my daughter for Sunday Brunch yesterday and had a great time. We had the Pork Taco's which were delicious. I had the grilled peach and burrata salad with grilled shrimp and she had the cobb salad with steak. Everything was flavorful and fresh. We had the monkey bread with ice cream for dessert which I never had before. Sat outside and watched all the dogs go by. It was a very enjoyable time

Amazing food

By Makuk007 |

The most amazing burger I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of them, my wife's steak was also delicious. You have to check this place out the staff are also very attentive, next time we're passing we will definitely be back.

delicious lunch

By Donna E |

Great american food with a little spin on it. My husband had a turkey panini. He said it was outstanding and the bacon jam put it over the top. I had the crab cake which was equally delicious. We both thought the fries were awesome, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect lunch paired with a house sangria and a mule. The people next to us were raving about the chicken tenders and mac n cheese. I will try those next time!

Great food and atmosphere

By michelle w |

Fantastic service and delicious food. A very imaginative menu with something for everyone and sophisticated and simple all at the same time. The staff was friendly and our server attentive. Love love love this restaurant. So much that while visiting we went 2 nights in a row.

Excellent

By James K |

Dinner at the bar, food was outstanding. Bar staff was friendly. Cost was on the high side. Worthwhile

Outstanding Flavor and Creativity

By Balto-Rob |

We visited Goat's Beard with friends, basking in the sun at an outdoor table on an eerily warm Sunday in December. The kitchen delivered successive knock out blows for our party. Everyone loved the fries to start with - topped with pulled pork and kim chee (sp?). Crazy combo - and really delicious. My wife ordered the hummus dish - and we all raved in agreement it was probably the best hummus we ever had. I had a grilled caesar with chicken which was awesome as well. Service was pleasant and prompt too.

Tapas

By Arlene J |

Friends & I went here on a recommendation by a shop owner. The food was very healthy and fresh. However, the portion sizes are small so you should consider ordering more than one entree; the waitress may tell you the top two sections of the menu are appropriate for tapas. My friends' fish tacos came out promptly; they would have preferred 3 rather than 2 tacos. My gluten-friendly grilled vegetable lasagna came much later (remember, no noodles to cook). It was tasty, but only about 2"x2" with toasted lentils surrounding it. We sat upstairs so we did not have the bar noise; I would give the upstairs atmosphere a very good rating if it was separated from the bar scene. The staff was very nice & helpful.

Quick dinner before show

By Vasilis Chatzigiannis |

The place is modern and quite cozy at the same time. Personnel is super polite and the crowd quite nice. Very kids friendly and very tasty food. The food came out fast. I would recommend they adjust the pricing for their steak Mac&Cheese. Although very tasty, the amount of steak offered does not justify the 13 dollars difference from the plain one. At the time of my visit they did not have any non alcoholic beer. I strongly recommend the cheese potatoes and if you are in goat meat the empanadas. In the summer or early fall months carry a sweater or a light jacket because the AC on the second floor is strong. Overall a very nice experience.

Good, but not as good as it used to be

By 216LNS |

We've been to the Goat's Beard several times over the past few years, and it just doesn't seem as interesting/tasty as it used to. It's also gotten louder--so loud that it can be hard to have a conversation even at a table for two. We like their burgers, but remain puzzled why dijon mustard is not an option...

Too drafty in winter

By Adamsafe |

We really enjoy Goat’s Beard. Great drinks and really good burger. But, they need to address the issue of the front door continuously opening and cooling off the room in the winter. Existing vestibule solution isn’t working. We’ll hold off til warmer weather.

Prob the Best in the Neighbourhood

By Lraep |

Didn't want to visit 'cause my original reservation on Thanksgiving Day made with Opentable was cancelled by the Restaurant without explanation or apology. However, they are many good restaurants in the neighbourhood. Anyway, glad we visited. Food & service were good, and we liked the restaurant deco & ambience too.

Definitely will return

By marianne18976 |

We ate at Goat's Beard for the first time and the food, staff, ambience were more than we expected. Our chicken and scallop dinners were delicious as well as their homemade fries with chili sauce and sour cream. The bread pudding was the sweet ending to our scrumptious dinner. In addition, Goat's Beard has a great selection of craft beers. The manager, Kelsey, made the entire experience delightful. We definitely plan on returning.

My Philadelphia Favorite!

By CatsFilmingTea |

I went here for the first time to get out of the heat and away from the crowd during an arts festival. The drinks are affordable, but extremely strong and delicious. Come to their Thursday Happy Hour. $5 special ALL NIGHT LONG and they do not skimp. The food. THE FOOD. :) It's amazing and the menu rotates out on regular basis and brings in lots of fresh local ingredients. The taste and portions are perfect. I would recommend this place for either a full meal or just for drinks and appetizers. When someone from out of the country comes to my shop to pick up their gear and have suggestions for eating out I always try to send them to Goat's Beard. I have been here at least 5 times and each experience has been wonderful.

Amazing private party

By Jlfisher10 |

My husband and I have been long-time customers of "The Beard" as it's called in our house, so when we were looking for a venue for our small post-wedding reception, we were thrilled to find out they could accommodate our 25 person party. Kelsey worked with us from the beginning to plan every detail of the reception, from cocktails to hors d'oeuvres to the family style meal. They were extremely flexible in our food options and were easily able to construct a custom menu for us. Kelsey handled our party with confidence and was always available to speak with us as we planned. On the day of the reception, she helped arrange the delivery of our cake from an outside vendor and when we arrived, it was beautifully displayed along side the appetizers and drinks. Our guests could NOT STOP TALKING about how amazing the food was and we had more than enough to feed all the hungry mouths! The private room upstairs is beautifully decorated with high ceilings and a rustic wood wall with flowers and candles throughout as well as plenty of natural light. Overall, I can't speak highly enough of the Goat's Beard as a venue for any private party. Kelsey and her staff took excellent care of us and did so within our budget. We were so happy with the event, we're looking for another reason to throw a party there!

Too salty!

By Ian S |

We had a family brunch there. We had noticed good service and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, we had found that the food was not great. We had ham and cheese. It comes with French fries. The meal was too salty and caused me drinking gallons of water that day. The drunken goat salad was sourish because combo of goat cheese and the dressing used is not that great and tasty.

Perfect after Schuylkill River Trail

By Lisa H |

Really enjoyed the alfresco dining, it was noisy inside. Service was great, good happy hour. Humus for 2 was worth the stop alone. i had the Poke bowl (yummy) husband love the fish selection.

Soooo good...

By Mike G |

If you're looking for good food and drinks in Manayunk, definitely try The Goat's Beard. They've got a great atmosphere, a good selection of drinks, and incredible food.

Great food, drinks and atmosphere...

By mjakes28 |

We absolutely loved our experience at the Goats Beard. The service was excellent, the food options were unique and delicious, and they make a mean cucumber gimlet. I was there a few weeks ago on a date, and it was a sunday, mid afternoon. There was a guy there singing and playing the guitar, which just made the experience that much better. He was great. Overall we just had a wonderful experience there, and I would both recommend it and will most definitely be going back again soon.

Nice menu and extensive beer and spirits choices

By Jeff S |

Family dinner to celebrate our son’s 37th took us here. Reservations are important on Saturday evening and honored by the restaurant. We had a comfortable table upstairs and the crowded room had good acoustics so we could chat without any problems. The food menu is upscale bar food and my generous salad and fish and chips platter was quite good. In fact, better than I’ve had in London. The drinks menu was extensive but although two ounces of my bourbon choice was reasonably priced, it wasn’t even close to enough. Maybe that was a good thing since I was driving. My wife’s wine pour was fine, however. With appetizers, one drink each, entrees for each of the four of us, one dessert, our check was $260 before the tip. We’ll certainly return again for the food.

friendly staff and great food

By Kimberly A |

My husband and I loved our dinner at the Goats Beard in Manayunk neighborhood in Philadelphia. The staff was super friendly. Our waitress was prompt and gave great suggestions. we shared the cheese plate which had 3 nice cheeses on it with crostini bread. The plate also came with a fig jelly and fruit. My husband had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich special with onion rings and I had the vegetables on toasted farro. it was delicious. The manager walked around to talk with the patrons and he was very friendly toward us as well.

Great Food and Charm in This Manyunk Bistro!

By Suzanne M |

I have eaten at the a Goats Beard 3 times. Each time the food was terrific and I kept asking myself why I hadn't been back sooner. For an appetizer we shared the Toasted chick peas ( which are flash fried) with lime zest. They were so simple but so delicious. I ordered the fish tacos which were probably the best I've had outside of Veracruz, Mexico. I can't wait to go back and have them again. I took friends who had never eaten at the Goats Beard and they were pleasantly surprised at the quality, presentation and cost for the dinner. It is nit an extensive menu but what the chef prepares he does it well. The bar is fully equipped with craft beer and domestic whiskey for beer and whiskey lovers! The Atmosphere is warm and friendly. There are high top tables in the bar area and a charming second floor as well. The Goats Beard should commend themselves for providing such a gem of a restaurant to the Manyunk neighborhood!

Yummy New Manayunk spot

By Cawwee23 |

Just finished a fantastic meal here. All food is local, when possible, fresh, and hormone free. I liked this place just from that fact. Our server was attentive and friendly, which is another plus. We came in time for happy hour so my friend and I shared the drunken goat salad and wings to start. Both were very good. We then shared the butternut soup, which I don't care for but I loved it!! We had a burger and a side of Mac and cheese both amazing. For dessert, a fried brownie with ice cream. Really really delicious. I will certainly be back soon. Especially because you can sit outside and enjoy Manayunk.

Great food and drink

By jer b |

The Goat's beard is a cafe and bar located in a dark grey building on Main Street in Manayunk. Even though the restaurant was full, it was possible to hear conversation across the table. Good selection of wine, beer and cocktails. I had a 2SP strawberry switchblade, which proved to be one of the most unique beers I have ever had. It had hints of Thai basil, strawberry and hibiscus. I chose the octopus for my appetizer and it was good, a little more mealy than I would have like but still very flavorful. The meatloaf, made from leg of goat was exceptionally good. It was an Alfred Portale-like construction, on a thick slice of bread and consisted of layers of potato, sliced tomato, the meatloaf itself and a fried egg on top. The meatloaf was interestingly delicious. Our server was a pleasant gentleman who explained the menu and happy hour policy to us. Just a very fun restaurant that serves excellent food.

Outstanding Food and Service

By GooseCowboy |

Stopped in on a Tuesday and they were full. There is no doubt that they have the best Fries in the city. The pork and kimchi fries were delicious. We had steak Mac and cheese and grilled half chicken for our main courses. Can't wait to return.

Should be SIX stars!

By Tryined |

What a fantastic find on Main Street Manayunk! From beginning to end, was absolutely perfect. Impeccable service by Tom. Started with the buttermilk fried wings with chipotle honey and caramelized onions that were by far the best I've had in quite some time. Also did the gnocchi Mac and cheese which was heaven and a spectacularly creative and refreshing watermelon, heirloom tomato salad with whipped feta and balsamic drizzle. My husband opted for the grilled Serrano ham and cheese touched with a tad of sweet fig jam that came with a corn and bean salad that had a quinoa crunch that was simply top notch! Specialty Manhattans were exquisite! Cannot wait to go back!

Goat's Beard - Now in Wayne!!

By janbK6058QR |

We decided to try a new restaurant in Wayne as it just opened a few weeks ago in the Xilantro location on North Wayne Ave - just one storefront off Route 30 main intersection- very convenient and easy parking nearby. The redo of the previous venue was well done- red colorations and wood trims with fun seating outside and a welcoming bar area next to the main dining room. The restaurant was full of people and a fun vibe was felt as we entered the front entrance. We were seated right away and served promptly. The menu was not extensive but there were choices we thought would be yummy. The Merlot was perfectly paired with our hummus and veggie appetizer- and our entrees came out as we lingered from the first course. We tried the steak and mac cheese - and a burger and fries - and I had coconut curried pineapple over brown rice and veggies - delicious! We did not stay for any tempting coffee or desserts - maybe next time. The staff and servers were prompt and professional with friendly attitude and helpful suggestions. A good addition to Wayne's eateries.... Give it a try- might find it better than a few restaurants across the street- by a "close shave" or whisker !

Stopped in for a bite to eat with our 7 month old on our trip back from the beach. The food was fresh and simply amazing and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Great Food, Great Service

Have visited twice and both times the food was great. Some of the best Mac & Cheese I've ever had and I don't even like Mac & Cheese. Fresh, well-prepared food with attentive wait staff and nice decor. Would definitely recommend.

Corner Pub with local flair

Roasted chicken for two was great value. Manhattan tasty. Busy for a sunday early dinner music too. Age( 21 to35) is appropriate for this part of Philly. Parking on street with luck. Nice bar crowd.

Great Place

Stopped in recently and had a great experience. Delicious food (the cheeseburger was amazing), everyone was very nice and friendly, there was live music. And hot bartenders! Definitely plan on returning with friends soon.

Sunday Night Dinner

By bfranchi166 |

After Sunday night mass we walked to downtown Manayunk and stopped in at the Goat's Beard. We were seated upstairs which was nice. We ordered brussel sprouts, they had run out and had to cut more, it was taking a little longer so our server brought us the hummus. Very good and very nice of them to do. All of our dinner were delicious. We had burgers, mac and cheese with steak and the chicken divan. I personally thought the chicken divan was the best. So many flavors, it was amazing. Too full for dessert.

Great atmosphere and staff

Went on a Sunday during brunch. Had the Turkey pastrami BST, excellent, smokey. Rest of my party enjoyed theirs: breakfast burger, French toast, Mac-n-cheese, Thai chicken salad. Great reviews all around. Wait staff excellent, responsive.

Incredibly Delicious!

By RedSoxMike |

While on a getaway weekend, we stopped in to the Goat's Beard for lunch. The place was clean and nicely decorated with a long bar as well as tables. A small menu but with a good variety of choices. They serve locally sourced and organic foods when possible. The bar had a great variety of craft brews and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the hummus plate and the wings. While the hummus plate was quite good, with a large sized portion of hummus, tzatziki and a black olive tapanade, The wings were fantastic! They were breaded in buttermilk and very crispy with a good amount of chicken on each piece. I enjoyed the chipotle and honey wings with caramelized onions with the rosemary herb fries. The hsndcut fries were also delicious, especially when dipped in their homemade siracha aioli. Will definitely be going back to try the hand ground burger that looked quite delicious.

Exactly what we needed...

We wanted something different, healthy and delicious. Not disappointed at all. We paid a bit more than we usually do but great food and service. Drunken Goat salad and the steak mac and cheese very yummy. Cheese plate was pricey with only three cheeses but we ended up loving them all. Server Josh was great!

Eah small and pretentious

By Temple_Mike |

The place is nice but it's kind of small and full of pretentious people. The drinks are expensive and only craft beers on tap which admittedly isn't my scene. I see why some people like it but I won't be back

Friendly place on bike trail. Good food, friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating

By Trish M |

Stopped here on a bike ride on the schukull ricer trail We had the veggie burger which was delicious and didn't taste like fake meat. Fries were scrumptious although j didn't eat the entire portion. Staff was efficient and friendly. Prices were reasonable

Good choice for dining in Wayne

By simmie17 |

We have dined twice here and both times the experience was fine. Service was attentive. The food was well prepared. We especially liked the hummus plate. I enjoyed the burger and my daughter liked the fish tacos, Drinks were well made. The place is small, and on weekends I suggest you reserve in advance, especially if you want to eat inside.

Delicious and Dog Freindly

By Milo W |

Casual dining but really excellent and creative food. Freshly sourced and thoughtfully prepared apps ,entrees, and cocktails. The "Mac and Cheese" made with gnocchi instead of pasta should be called "crack and cheese".

Great lunch

By GerryBaron06 |

I stopped here with a friend. We picked it because of its rating (and that fact that we found parking nearby). My light lunch consisted of the House Salad and TGB Nuggets (free range chicken with sriracha lime coating) accompanied by the Harvest Moon Sangria. I really enjoyed the salad and nuggets. The sangria was not to my taste because it had cloves. Definitely returning for those nuggets!

lucky strike for our family dinner

By Daniel T |

We spent only one night close to Philadelphia on our way from Washington to New York and found that nice little quarter Manayunk only coincidentally. Lucky us; our kids love burgers while we‘re no big fans of the typical chains, so we‘re always keeping an eye out for local burger places. The goat‘s beard turned out to be one of the best places we‘ve been for burgers. Delicious burgers and very nice staff. My wife has had a vegetarian Paella which was great. And fun fact; our kids ate for free as on some weekdays (don‘t rember exactly which days) and special hours one kid’s meal comes for free with one adult‘s meal. We‘d love to come back though we don‘t know when we‘ll be back in this area.

Great Private Room for a Family Dinner

By CindyKWarrington |

We went to The Goat's Beard for an early New Year's Eve dinner with our family of 8 adults and 2 children. I had made reservations and was so happy when they showed us to a table in a private loft area. The management and wait staff were wonderful. To me, that is a big part of eating out- that the staff pays attention to us and we are served well. They was no contest in that area. Then we ordered some appetizers- wings, hummus, jalapenos, and chicken nuggets and all were delicious- the wings being the best we've had. For our meal, we had cheeseburgers and a grilled cheese and both were perfect. Dessert was a fried brownie which all enjoyed. We will definitely be back and I will ask for that same room again!

Good Food & Service

By madzim07 |

First time here, and it was nice. We had the eggrolls, and the breakfast burrito. The food was good, and it came out hot. Sophia was a great server - always checking on us, but never interrupting our conversations. kinda funny - when we walked in, the entire place (inside and outside) were empty, but the hostess asked us if we had reservations and when we said no, she said she needed to rearrange things to seat us. We were there for almost 90 minutes, and the place never was full, so not sure what needed to be rearranged. I would recommend this palace, but guess you need to make reservations...

BEWARE of GRATUITY CHARGES

By Anthony M |

Traveled 2hrs to Arts Festival this pass weekend ( June 24/2023) stoped in for lunch with my wife ( first time), we seated ourselves at the bar, the bar person was very nice and accommodating, she made suggestions from menu, smash burger was good, drink were great, but I was taken by surprise when I received my check, on the bottom of the check was automatic 20% gratuity added to the check , now I’m a person that likes to leave a cash appreciation gratuity of 20% when I dine out if the service/ server is good . I don’t like it when the establishment dictates the amount of gratuity to be given. If I did not peruse my check I would have been leaving a 40% gratuity.. So to anyone planning to dine in this establishment… BEWARE of GRATUITY..

New Spot! Classy and rustic with thoughfully prepared food and friendly staff

By Yenssy C |

What a surprise to walk in here on a whim. We ordered the burgers and chicken sandwich- both are minis and made to share- grade A meat and chicken. The fried brownie was a sweet and savory complement. The mimosa are affordable and for 12 you can drink all you want. The decor on all three levels is rustic and classy- everyone was welcoming. Great addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to come back and host our own event.

Great Food

Got the Fish and Chips.Fish was market rate farmed striped bass, which threw me for a loop. Chips were fried chickpeas. Very different, but great all the same. Wife got the vegetarian cashew thing. Even I thought it was good. Would go again.

Tapas on Main Street Manayunk

By napalovers |

This recent addition to the Manayunk Main Street restaurant collection is a welcome one. Tapas/ small plates is the theme complemented by an interesting beer, wine and cocktail list. The three of us were able to do justice to a good sampling of the menu. We started with the vegetarian spring roll which was crispy (not greasy) and filled with tofu and veggies. The raspberry dipping sauce and hot mustard each worked well. The falafel platter had only a couple small pieces of falafel, but sizeable scoops of humus with both bread and romaine for serving. We had a trio of sliders (juicy burger, crispy chicken and veggie burger), all with appropriate condiments. The jalapeno wings were presented with jicama cabbage slaw. The serving was generous though a bit too sweet, with not enough heat for me. The goat nuggets (really chicken) were also crunchy nicely breaded with a nice background of sriracha and lime. A mixed green salad was framed by thin sliced cucumber and tasty dressing. It was visually appealing as well, and also enough to share. The only disappointment was the cheese platter with 3 miniscule servings of cheese though nice toast and chutney. The bruschetta of the night included 3 vegetarian toppings including zucchini salad with light juiliene slivers of zucchini and a black bean salad. I believe these change nightly. Sorry, no room for dessert. The servings were generally decent size, so don’t let the large number of dishes we managed to pack away suggest otherwise. Our hightop table at the bar allowed good view of the brusque business in the pretty softly lit room on this Friday evening. Our server (Shae) was great, timing our dishes well, keeping an eye on our beverages, providing clean plates and silverware as needed.

Enjoyed this place. Great vegetarian curry and a very nice choice of quality beers. Service was good. We didn't particularly like the cheese plate, but that may have been our personal preferences.

A wonderful place for a group gathering!

By QuakerTruth |

The owner, Sean, could not have been more accommodating. We wanted a gathering spot for a group of 10 - 15 friends and this was just the place. We will most definitely return. There is a terrific area on the second floor for that purpose. It was private. The appetizers were great (well timed as they brought them out), the drinks were good, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend. (If you are driving, just give yourself a little extra time to find parking in Mannyunk.)

Excellent Food!

By JBHatfield |

We were at a conference and were recommended this restaurant on a whim! It was such a cute cozy bar! Everyone at the table loved their dish! We had the scallops, the steak, and fish and chips. No leftovers to be seen! Try the Sweet Melissa cocktail! Service was a little slow but friendly! If I lived in this area I would frequent!

Fun place. Good food

By Tom_B_NJ |

Great bourbon selection. Good was different and good. Had scallops and pork belly. Interesting combination. The goat nuggets are just popcorn chicken, no big deal. But, the wild boar ribs were outstanding

Unexpectedly Good Dinner

By bb3333 |

Went here with some friends from Manayunk on a blustery cold night. I was expecting pub grub, but got a really good meal from the folks at the goat. One of the unexpected surprises was the Kimchee and Pork fries which were almost a delicious meal unto themselves. The room was a little noisy, but overall the vibe was great. We were also pleasantly surprised at the quality and imagination of the cocktails the bar served.
