Great Outdoor Seating & Entertainment

By JATBigsky |

We have been here several times to eat/drink and have also purchased seafood from Golden Rule-- Always great! They were quite busy both times we were there this visit but just a fun, casual place to dine!

Great food!!

By jonathan o |

Stopped by for lunch with some coworkers, we were all pleased with the food and service. The fish doesn’t get fresher that what they provide. I love it.

Excellent Food but Smelly Inside

By flhbob83 |

Ate for the first time with my family at Golden Rule last night. Very pleased with the food. Husband had the mahi fish and grits, daughter had coconut shrimp grandson had conch fritters and i had loaded mashed potatoes. Everyone raved about the food. Husband had draft beer Rubia which he said was good. We ate outside on the patio because the smell of the restaurant inside is horrible smells like a bait shop. But outside patio was great with great food.

Great Place For Lunch

By AndyLM45 |

We have been going to the Golden Rule Market to buy fresh seafood. Today we tried their restaurant. The food was great. I had seared tuna and my wife had blackened mahi. Both were very good. The steamed veggies were crunchy and nicely seasoned. The service was perfect.

Expectacular Birthday time.

Cars out front for a reason

By Jegsavnerdeg |

On our way to the Coral Castle in Homestead, we stopped here for lunch. There are cars parked out front for a reason! This place is delicious. When you walk in, you're greeted by the aroma of the sea. No wonder, as the place is half fish market, half restaurant. Everything looked so fresh in the fish cases! The snow crab claws were delish and the snapper (SO FRESH!!) with lemon butter was light- unlike other places that drench their seafood in sauce! Even the garlic mashed potatoes were mild, much to my liking! Loved the bouquet of veges side dish as well. It's a casual place, good for beer buddies looking for burgers (sports on the tvs), or families, or even a cozy booth for two. The decor is fun too. Don't hesitate- just go!!

Awesome fresh seafood

By megan12 |

We used to buy fish from this market years ago and we were driving by when we saw that they were now serving food. We decided to give it a try, excellent!!!. The fried oysters were the freshest and cooked to perfection. The main entrees were delicious, I had a fried cobia sandwich which was also perfectly cooked without over browning the batter, not soggy just right. Very good key lime pie to finish the dinner. By the way the jalapeño margaritas were really to kill for. Can’t wait to come back.

Stone Crabs are disappointing

By JoaquinCartagena |

Golden rule has always offered great stone crabs that you purchase and take home so it seemed natural for them to open a rustic restaurant to accommodate diners. But the stone crabs are much worse this year which means the dining experience is not worth the drive down there.

Way overpriced and won't return.

By Delatorrellc |

This part of town does not offer many choices when it comes to seafood. Since Golden Rule is attached to a seafood market you'd expect value. Not here. Also expect a strong fishy smell when you walk in that takes a bit of getting used to. You basically sit in a bar like atmosphere and order overpriced drinks and seafood. The seared scallop appetizer offered 3 scallops and costs us $17. I can buy a pound of fresh scallops at Costco for $25. Two snow crab legs with greasy asparagus was $27.50. Below average wine at $7 a glass. 1 star rating on this visit is dead on. We also had the conch ceviche and conch fritters. Average. Service was good.

Informal low key seafood restaurant

By TBSMKS |

Stone crabs were delish but expensive ($60) but I haven’t had them in years and I loved them. Fish tacos were great. Seared tuna was very tasty. Fish spread was delicious. Drinks were fun but costly. Server was very efficient and friendly. We would definitely come back.

great food

By Richard R |

I have eaten here multiple times in the last month. I have had the mahi ceasers salad and it is delicious. Since they sell seafood there is the smell once you enter but that seems to pass relatively quickly. The wait staff are great. Look forward to going back soon :-)

Great ambience, delicious food

By crystalcoast717 |

This place was recommended by a local and it was perfect after a hot day on the water. The appetizers were delicious, specifically the buffalo shrimp, conch ceviche, and calamari. The coconut shrimp wasn’t one of our favorites. The drinks were delicious but felt a little light on the alcohol.

Good Option

By kdmia |

This is a nice change of pace when you want a casual atmosphere and good, fresh seafood. The menu is not super extensive but you can get conch and whole fried fish and mahi mahi sandwiches and dolphin fingers. The Clam Chowder is very good. The salmon and veggies tastes freshly caught and made. I believe there is also a chicken option, and maybe kids menu burger (not sure?). This place has been open as a fish market for ages, and only started serving food a few years ago. It has casual bench and booth seating and, initially as you enter, there will be a fishy smell of the market. But you adapt quickly and the service ranges from excellent to pretty good so you will enjoy a beer and food and quickly forget the smell. Check the hours because different days they close early in the evening, around 6pm, and other days they are open late. And try the conch fritters or the fried conch - all our Bahamian friends say that nowhere do people know how to make conch that isn't chewy but this place always satisfies their connoisseur palates.

Stone Crab purchased from market was "fishy"

By TiretreadMD |

I visited Golden Rule for the first time in March 2015. We usually stay in Key Largo and buy our seafood at Key Largo Fisheries, but I was up in Miami and stopped by Golden Rule on the way back south. Staff was very pleasant and will crack your claws for you. I purchased several pounds of medium stone crab claws. The price is very reasonable for stone crab, but I have to say the crab was "fishy" and very mediocre if not below average. Based on previous reviews, I hope this was an anomaly and might give them another shot if I'm up in Miami. However, I hate to pay all that money for stone crab and not get it fresh.

Very Good Overall

By alanme44 |

My girlfriend and I went to Golden Rule Seafood on Saturday evening July 25th. I'll start by saying that they are taking the Coronavirus seriously there. Every guest had to sanitize their hands upon entering the restaurant and masks were worn by all but not while you were eating at your table. Menus were accessed via cell phone. Spacing of the tables was ample. We ordered conch fritters as an appetizer, and shrimp and scallops scampi and shrimp and grits as entrees. The food was prepared well and was extremely tasty. The outside dining is open-air with umbrellas or under the grand tiki roofing. and the dining area is surrounded by dense plantings. The only drawback in my opinion was the traffic noise from US-1. Possibly that was heightened by the fact that we had a table adjacent to US-1. Although traffic on a Saturday night under the current conditions is much lighter than usual. The service, ambiance and prices were good and there is on-site parking. I definitely plan on returning as both my girlfriend and I left very pleased. In fact this was her second visit there within a week as she had gone previously with a friend and wanted to return.

Fab food

Stop by to get your fresh fish Ford dinner and stay for lunch! Best kept secret in town. Try the blackened fish tacos. Divine!

Great Atmosphere Great Food!!!!!

By Nana992010 |

We have been going to Golden Rule Seafood Market for years and love it. Now they have a really great restaurant. The seafood is fresh, portions large and service great. The restaurant is an outdoors cafe, bar, and Tiki Hut. Great addition to the area we really needed something new.

Friday night dinner with wife

By reyyera |

Felt like fried fish. So I suggested to go nearby to Golden Rule because they have fresh fish. Even though the kitchen was short staffed and had to wait 30 minutes while they had three empty tables am still trying to figure out! But just the same, my fried snapper filet was perfection, and the collard greens were on point. However the fried okra was the best I have had since visiting Georgia!! I would definitely go back just for the fried okra! Nice meal, nothing fancy just NICE.

If you are in the Palmetto Bay Area (perhaps on your way to the Everglades) you must stop here for lunch!!

By Bojisherry5 |

This family run seafood market recently opened a restaurant within their existing market. The homemade salsa is amazing, and the Shrimp and Oyster Po Boy was absolutely delicious. To top it off the you must order the Key Lime Cannons for dessert - "fresh tortilla stuffed with key lime pie, deep fried and drizzled with chocolate sauce & drunken cranberries." We will definitely make a return visit the next time we visit the area!

JUST OKAY

By Miles Archer |

My wife and I came for lunch. Kinda busy. We had to wait for an outside table. I had a sampler, which contained shrimp and conch fritters. My wife had a grouper sandwich. The food was average. We shared key lime pie, which was unremarkable. We each had a beer. Service could have been better.

Great place to have seafood at a reasonable price.

By Nancy C |

With a reputation for fresh seafood at the store, we had high expectations for the restaurant and were not let down. The quality of the seafood was excellent. I had eaten here before, but never outside. If you choose to eat inside, you have to deal with the strong odor of a fish market. But outside was very nice - and they have a huge cover with fans, so it is pleasant no matter the weather. I had the fried conch and it was nicely prepared and served with fries, and coleslaw. My husband had their burger, and it was good. The service was good, and the food came quickly once we ordered, but they seemed to be a bit understaffed. It took about 15 minutes before they approached our table to take our orders.

Great atmosphere, AMAZING CONCH FRITTERS! Been at this location for as long as I can remember.

By The7milebridge |

The best conch fritters... which are my fave. But amazingly fresh seafood. This family owned business has been around for a very long time. It is truly a hidden gem.... Even though it has been on US!. Highly recommend.

Seating sucks!

By Beth S |

I had wanted to go here for a long time. I was disappointed. I hate restaurants that tell you to seat yourselves! Especially when the restaurant is full. So, are you supposed to hover over a table until they leave? My husband and I got there. No tables available. We sit and wait while a family is leaving. Another family just comes in and takes the table. So after waiting a ridiculously long time to be seated no one brings us menus. So we have to grab someone and ask them to bring us some. They bring us sticky, dirty menus! We are ready to order but wait for 10-15 minutes before someone finally takes our order. Then we wait another 30-40 minutes for our food to come! The food was good but it's not worth the wait! It needs to be more organized and clean. I'm not going back.

Good seafood good service

By Thetfordtravel |

Had fish tacos excellent my wife had the Caribbean conch not for me , but she liked it good service , average price new outside eating area very good

Amazing Food!

By Marpie19 |

Walking into this place, I was quite surprised to see a fish market. My first thought was that I was at the wrong place but someone promptly welcomed us and lead us to a table. At first glance, the menu looked amazing! I simply could not make up my mind. Being a pescatarian I rarely have so many options. We started off with the Wonton tuna which was absolutely AMAZING! The tuna was fresh and full of fabulous flavors. This was an absolute must. I then ordered the Lobster BLT which was just as amazing as the appetizer. Overall, this place had a great atmosphere, excellent food as well as excellent service. If ever you find yourself in the area, this place is a must! Great, Great, Great!

Very Disappointed

By s d |

This restaurant resides on the sight of Golden Rule Seafood Market. They sponsor the Deering Bay Seafood Festival each year. So, when they opened the restaurant, I thought that, finally, I could get some decent seafood in Miami. Funny that we are a peninsula, but cannot get decent seafood. As a side note I make better seafood than any place I have been to in Miami. If I want good seafood I have to go down to Key Largo. So, I digress. Let's go back to Golden Rule. The atmosphere is really nice and tropical. The food, however, was nothing short of really bad. One of us had a pasta dish with a fish fillet on top. The fish needed to be cut with a knife and was practically inedible. None of our dishes were even average. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the restaurant. Maybe if they got a new chef, food could be better.I hope they make a change. This place has potential.

Embarrassing

By Adibel12 |

I have been coming here for years. I come for lunch, I come for dinner, I come for date night. I know the owners daughter, not on an extremely personal level, But at least on a say hello level every time we see each other. They say hi to us all the time, they see us eating here. Today was the first time I ever been embarrassed in a restaurant. My best friend and another friend met for lunch. I happened to have the day off for work because of a doctors appointment. So as usual I suggested golden rule because it's my local go to restaurant. The three of us had lunch shared two bottles of wine and one of my friends had to leave. Our waitress closed us out and we said we would like 2 more glasses of wine please. We paid her bill and they brought the glasses of wine. Mind you, we are very quiet just sitting there having conversation and enjoying ourselves for the afternoon. The waitress that closed us out said do you mind if I start putting up the chairs around you. We said no of course not. We saw her leave and another waitress came by us and said here's your check we're cutting you off unless you order more food. We told her that's ridiculous we have been coming here for years since when do you push us to order more food just to get us to leave. My friend and I didn't argue. We got up paid our bill. But as we saw the owner on our way out, someone who has seen us there countless times before. We joked and said these girls cut us off, we were just enjoying ourselves. He said with an attitude well they're the boss and your cut off. We weren't drunk, we weren't loud, and we of course didn't argue. In fact we were so embarrassed. Needless to say we will not be going back for a very long time. We spend our hard-earned money there on a regular basis, thinking we had just a good afternoon to sit back and enjoy ourselves and just talk in an atmosphere that we thought was always welcoming. That is just not so anymore. Believe me I am not someone just to write a review out of spite. I am just so upset that somewhere I have been going to for years would treat me like this.

Great place for casual fish and seafood.

By Karen R |

Fresh fish dishes and laid back atmosphere. Service was very good. Good local brew choices. We had mango mahi and fries whole snapper. Both delicious and done right.

Great oysterslimited but exciting menu

By Josebsan |

This place has been a seafood market since 1943. Recently they added a restaurant, somewhat rustic with wood benches and some antiques. The main seafood sales place has also be redone. The menu is simple but if you ask for new things you can be very surprised. I love oysters, and the have the best in the market for a very reasonable price. They also have over a dozen of small brewery beers as well as the common ones. I tried a raw tuna dish and a very unusual fried cheesecake dessert that were outstanding, in my opinion. The place is open for lunch every day but for dinner only Thursday to Saturday. It is not a romantic place, but the food is worh it.

Horrible service

By Curiosity568714 |

We have been coming here for many years but our last visit will be our last. The service was horrible, young man took our order after we had been waiting for 20 minutes. Brought my drink but never brought my wife’s drink or appetizer. After patiently waiting for and additional 45 minutes and no one bringing my wife’s drink or appetizer or taking our food order. We decide to pay for the one drink and leave. To many other places were the establishment care for their customers.

Fresh seafood done well!

By LakelandShell |

We came as a party of 8 and tried a variety of appetizers and meals. We sat in the beautiful outdoor area with lovely flowers everywhere and the sound of a waterfall of in the distance. Remember I said we had a party of 8? Well, Everyone was highly satisfied with their food! We all enjoyed trying each other's dishes and I would recommend stopping in for fresh seafood!! No overcooked or over breaded seafood here! As a native Floridian and I'm pretty picky about my seafood but I found everything I tried to be very yummy!!

Fresh seafood and service with a smile.

By Glee47 |

My husband stopped here for lunch because we were in the neighborhood. I have shopped at Golden Rule for a long time and there food is always a hit at the Deering Seafood Fest, so was anxious to try the restaurant. First of all, you have to get over the fishy smell when you enter. The restaurant is decorated cutely and our server was super nice and friendly. We both got the corn and scallop soup (soups change daily) and it was delicious. Unfortunately (since I'm counting calories) it was creamy, with lovely white scallops and potato chunks; it came with crackers. There was hot sauce on the table. My husband got the conch ceviche, which had a nice presentation of corn chips surrounding it. I got the seared ahi appetizer, which came drizzled with a spicy mayo and had a teriyaki dipping sauce. It was very good, a large size for an appetizer and tasted nice and fresh. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and come again. Nothing fancy, but fresh seafood and service with a smile in a friendly, down home atmosphere.

Authentic, great fish

By Bob L |

This is a combination seafood store and restaurant. We had grouper, which was fresh and delicious, and snapper, also very good. Great dessert. A fun place

Just great fresh fish

By mike k |

We used to just visit once in a while - but the fish [market and restaurant] is just so good - can't stay away.

Stone crabs slurp!

By mwooduk |

Stopped by to get a couple of pounds of stone crabs to take out and much to my surprise there is now a restaurant in the market! I had no clue - got a menu and can't wait to go back and try it out. Been buying crabs and mustard sauce on and off here for years but haven't been in a year so nice surprise! There is one meat dish on the menu - a burger which means that my hubby can come back and eat too!!😀. Tonight's stone crabs were excellent!

If you go- Eat outside. Inside smells like a bait store!

By Big Dog |

We decided to give this place another try after having to eat inside two times prior due to construction of the tiki hut/bar. The pros: Fresh seafood & selection. Friendly wait staff. Clean dining areas. Decent size servings of sandwiches & platters. Excellent conch fritters! Snapper sandwich was just “ok”. Key Lime pie was nice & tart, but serving was on the small size. The cons: The lobster roll sandwich-It had a decent amount of lobster meat, but the flavor was killed due to the enormous amount of raw diced white onions in the mayonnaise roulade. Fried grouper sandwich-lacked seasoning & heavily battered. Small restrooms. If you plan on giving it a shot, I wouldn’t recommend eating inside due to the overwhelming smell like a bait shop. Expect on paying an average of $30 per person for lunch & $40 for dinner.

Best Seafood in Miami

By Cliffkol |

I was born in Miami and have bought seafood from many stores. But Golden Rule is the freshest, tastiest and greatest selection! Stone Crabs? This is the place!! We've purchased from medium stone crabs to Colossal and they are all delicious! (although the Colossal are the best!!!). I am not related to Golden Rule, but if you want the best seafood in Miami, go here! P.S. The neighborhood could scare you away, but go!!

Nights Finally - Call It Our Thursday Night Date Night

By bapmiami |

What a treat - whole fried snapper and my wife got lemon snapper. Great friendly service and a warm welcomed by the owner. My fried an apple was fall off the bones good, lite batter and served of garlic mashed potatoes. My wife's lemon snapper cooked perfection with a wonderful lemon sauce with capers. We finished with a slice of key line pie - then tapped out as our server Trey states. A new must dine and a real treat and we will return...

Great selection of fresh seafood, excellent friendly service and lots of antique items to look at while waiting.

By 7727 |

Very good selection of seafood available to take home and cook your way. Nicole answered the phone several times when I was wanting to buy fresh live blue crabs. Miami had gone through several days of bad weather so the crab fishermen were not bringing in crabs. Nicole kept calling me with updates on when the crabs would arrive and when they did she let me know. We picked up about eight pounds of crabs, had them steamed at the GR and took them back to our hotel for a crab feast. The guys behind the refrigerated display cases were very professional and did a great job on the steaming. I had a Heineken 0 0 (non-alcoholic) beer while I waited and the young waiter was very cordial and served my beer quickly. The restaurant is full of antiques of all kinds and the employees told me that the house never sells them. It is a shame because they have the motherlode of some very nice antique items. The young woman at the checkout was very friendly and efficient. The GR accepts credit cards and has contactless card machines. We will be going back for some more "fishing" at the GR before heading back to Rio de Janeiro where we live. The display cases have almost all kinds of seafood that a customer might want. I highly recommend the Golden Rule for take out fresh seafood or dining in the restaurant.

Great seafood and friendly service

By ksscott |

This was a surprise find on route 1. Cute little seafood market and food store and very nice, characterful and unpretentious restaurant area next to it. We came back multiple times for the lobster and bacon roll. But everything we ate there was good.

Local seafood

By autoharp2 |

Great atmosphere. Lots of cool antiques Had crab cakes and snapper in lemon and capers. Started with mushroom Brie soup. Food was excellent for the most part. Was hoping to get lump crab cakes. The ones that were served were good however. All the rest was great. Good quick service. Going to get some fresh seafood to take home!

Freshest seafood in the southwest

By tripMiami |

I think that most people that live in Southwest Miami have to be familiar with Golden Rule Seafood. I've been going there for many many years getting stone crabs every season opening. Football seasons and stone crabs, we always got the freshest claws at Golden Rule. So they opened a restaurant finally, after seeing how so many people would go into the market and get some fresh Stone crabs and then take it to a seating area and eat them there, buy a beer and have a good time. What can I say it's just a great joint to go and have some seafood, at least you know it's the freshest if not close to the best anywhere around town. Service is friendly and generally quick but the place does get busy and things slow down in the kitchen, if you're not a regular there you might feel like things have slowed down too much, but if you're with friends or family, sitting and enjoying your company, the wait doesn't really matter. Going to enjoy your dinner there, you won't go wrong

Dinner

By BDE |

Golden Rule is a GEM South of Miami! Always the best and freshest seafood. The store is superior and get your fresh catch to take home and prepare! Last night we decided to dine in their outdoor LARGE tiki hut! The atmosphere is awesome, their decorations and landscaping make you quickly forget you’re in the middle of US 1! They have done a really nice job. The food was over the top delicious. I had the buttery grilled Snapper with grilled Brussels! Friends had Grouper sandwiches and loved them. Definitely would go back again and again! Only two negatives, 1. drinks are a tad bit pricey and small, when having a Tito’s and Soda. 2. With such a cool setting and vibe, MUSIC is much needed (live band or just piped in) as this would make an “almost perfect” spot PERFECT!

Fresh Off The Boat

By Miriam White Williams |

Whether buying seafood to prepare at home or eating inside the restaurant or on the patio, you will not be disappointed in the quality of the seafood.

Lunch

By TTorgul |

The food is good but the waitresses have an attitude. There is a reason. This used to be fresh seafood only. It was run only by family members, who probably squabbled among themselves as to who would clean up at the end of each day and mop the floors. Subsequently it never got mopped and the place did not smell well although they always did a brisk business. Now, the built the inside restaurant and it did so well they built a huge Tiki hut outside. They have two bars, one inside ans one outside. One day, I inquired about the stink that used to be inside and the waitress outside stated that they mopped inside and cleaned up at the end of the day. They stated that the State of Florida Health Department cracked down on them and the outside waitresses ended up doung the work. This time, the exterior Tiki hut area was closed ( was told it shuts down in the Summer because of Miami heat) and I asked the two interior waitresses who would clean the fish market/restaurant? They stated that the cashier was supposed to do it. So, the breakdown is, go and enjoy the Tiki hut when its open. Dine inside, if you need a few beers or a drink. Also; this place is a virtual museum. It has on display many antiques related to the fishing industry going back 100 years.

Margaritaville style oasis in the middle of US1

By Raven L |

Been here with my colleague for lunch on several occasions. We love the friendly atmosphere, for lunch it is rarely super crowded. I highly recommend their Wonton Tuna appetizer which is really filling and their grilled fish or shrimp tacos are a favorite. However, as a fan of ceviches, I took the plunge and ordered on my most recent visit their Conch Ceviche and I warn you to STAY AWAY from it! It was the lousiest excuse for a ceviche. It was more a ceviche of over marinated in not the freshest lime diced tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and possibly relish with a sparing bit of conch. I have tasted conch salads that have tasted better and had more conch! Won't completely give up on this nice place for lunch, but won't be ordering conch any time soon!

A decent snapper sandwich.

By RobS |

A decent snapper sandwich which was yellowtail. This place has zero flexibility for a different snapper as an alternative. The service was average because the elderly waitress forgot the tartar sauce and brought sweetened ice tea by mistake. The market sold me a mutton snapper fillet /I cooked it at home and it was superior to the yellowtail.

Delicious Lunch

By billandshell |

After visiting the Deering Estate at Cutler, I used my handy dandy Tripadvisor Ap to find a local lunch spot. The Golden Rule had good reviews so I put the address in my GPS and off I went. A little place, nothing fancy and it is a seafood market as well as restaurant so it did smell a bit fishy as is to be expected. My waitress suggested a few things and I chose the lemon butter snapper. It came perfectly cooked with sweet potato mash and grilled vegetables. Both of the sides were perfect. It was a perfect lunch portion,. If you are a bigger eater I would suggest an appetizer or salad. They are not open for dinner, they close at 6 or I would have taken my husband back for dinner. Give it a try, You'll like it!

Overrated

Expensive and mediocre. Finding good seafood in Miami can be a struggle but this place doesn't solve that issue.

South Drive

By Sarushkaya |

When we arrived for Dinner around 8:00 PM on Sunday, the place was packed. We had to wait 15-20 min to be seated. The place is rustic under a thatched roof and in the background fish ponds and cascades. Very picturesque. Blonde Beer was the choice in Tall & Regular sizes. Conch Fritters and Fried Calamari our appetizers. Very good. Courtney’s Mess, Grouper Sandwich, Fish Tacos our Entrees. The Courtney’s Mess was delicious, a very large sandwich. Red snapper and Cheese, great combination. It came with French Fries. My friends switched to Sweet Potato Fries. My friends also enjoyed their meal. The Grouper Sandwich came grilled. For Dessert Key Lime Pie. Very good, tart and not too sweet. My friends, who are regulars and know the place, complained about service. For example, our appetizers were brought and we had no silverware. We asked for water several times and it was brought at the end of the meal. The place also has a market at the front.

We were hoping for FRESH stone crab...

By sahanders |

We probably got spoiled by the fresh stone crab we ordered in Marathon, FL. We know stone crab claws are pricey so when talking to the wait staff we inquired if the stone crab was FRESH (not frozen). We got a non-committal answer at first then "oh yeah, they're fresh". Guess what--they were NOT fresh. The claw tips were dried out and even the most meaty part of the claws didn't have that fresh-from-the-ocean taste we were hoping for. If these were our first stone crab claws for the week we might not have been as fussy. The rest of the meal was okay--shrimp and a oyster/shrimp po-boy. All was okay, but not the kind of fresh seafood I was expecting from a family-owned seafood market in Miami. We paid more for this meal than it was worth.

Fresh fish

By jonathan o |

I love this place. Amazing food and great staff. The fish is super fresh and you can also buy fresh fish to take home.

Fresh Seafood Market and Restaurant

By tjenfang2 |

Golden Seafood is the real deal. It is both a seafood market and a restaurant. They have a great market with very fresh seafood. Anything from love blue crabs and Maine lobsters to shellfish and fish. They had an array is fresh stone crabs claws to choose from with available mustard sauce for sale. All the filets looked fresh for your cooking pleasure. We went in to get food and it did not disappoint. They have a bunch of dishes for appetizers, baskets, sandwiches and dinner to choose from. This time we ordered from the baskets, which is basically fried seafood served with fries and cole slaw. Dinners gives you a bunch of choices other than fried which is always a nice choice. The dinner was great and we had Blacked Mahi Alfredo, Lemon Grouper with Mashed Sweet Potato and Veggies, Grilled Snapper with a Creammy Pesto sauce served with Grilled Asperagus. We had a nice Coconut Shrimp basket this time and they were delicious.

The quality and service has been and is going down.

By mistyresa |

I order shrimp and fried conch - ONLY...and it cost $17.04. The last time I ordered take out, after waiting 20 minutes, it took 20 minutes and the food was cold. Today, I ordered the same thing I have been ordering for the last year....and I found a calamari ring in my conch and shrimp. I took a picture and I am calling. I will give an update on the response.

Owners do not care about their customers

Great seafood and service horrible wait in the sun for no reason at all. We were made to wait outside in the sun along with 5 more groups even though there were 12 empty tables because the kitchen could not keep up with the orders instead of sitting us down and at least taking our drink orders. I spoke to the manager and she said it was company police set by the owners who were out of town. Obviously the owners do not care about their customers or making more money from selling drinks. In my 40 years in the hospitality business I have never witnessed such an irrational policy. Customers should never be made to wait on the side of a busy street (US1) sweating in the hot sun when they can be sitting at a table having a drink. Owmers, either take care of your customers or sell your business.

Good Seafood Market and Restaurant

By Richard H |

This is my second visit. Been passing by for many years and only had experienced before at local seafood festivals which they seemed to always have a big presence and crowds at these events. There is indoor and outdoor seating. My mother had the delicious stone crabs and Po Boy sandwich. I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and a good size portion it is. All delicious. Mother liked the sweet potato fries. I loved my potato fries and ate my mother's also. The calamari appetizer was well prepared. We have not purchased any of the variety of fresh fish and crustaceans and saw a steady flow of people coming in just to purchase their fresh fish. They have several TVs around the dining area. The wait staff was attentive. I definitely would return.

Food ok but...

By Tammy D |

The food was okay but there was a total disregard for the medical exemption regarding masks. So we watched many instances of cross-contamination with gloves. Our food was cold but they did replace it

Great Local Seafood Store and Restaurant!

By Jeff G |

Golden Rule has been around for many many years as a fresh fish and seafood market. They have now expanded and opened a restaurant with an amazing corn chowder nd on of the best fresh grouper sandwiches in town. Im sure glad that i live in Palmetto bay and have this great little restaurant close by.

Best Food Ever !!

By Connector18688124949 |

Dear Carrie and Camila, I wanted to reach out and thank you for the excellent service you provided when I visited the restaurant on April 17. You two went above and beyond to make sure I was able to have perfect food and beverages. All of you went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you again for making my experience at Golden Rule Seafood not only enjoyable but relaxing, knowing I was able to have a great time. The strawberry margarita was delicious, and the shrimp tacos and mahi sliders were great! Madeleine

In town for two weeks with the Red Cross. Found this location on Google, wanted to try authentic seafood as I'm from the Midwest. The food was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and had a great atmosphere. Our waitress was excellent, I wish I could remember her name. I know that she is a schoolteacher and 26 years old (General conversation). I would highly recommend this place and hope to eat there one more time before leaving town. I thought the food was very reasonably priced, big portions in great taste.

Great food - Very fresh!!!

By Music305 |

Loved the food. Be sure to go early - this place gets packed as they serve great food, Be careful when you pay - we provided 2 credit cards to split the bill and the same card was charged for the entire total (oversight - I'm sure) - it was split - but on the same card.... tisk- tisk - will be sure to check the card number closer next time.

Best Seafood Best Atmosphere

By knittycats |

We stopping in Sunday night as they have a live band. Great cocktail selection. Fish Dip appetizer - be sure to try it!! The Mahi fish, and fish taco were excellent Great service too

Excellent!! All fresh...hidden jewel

By william w |

This place is not easy to find...it deserves a better signage...but the food is fantastic. The fish dip is the best I ever had, the fish was fresh, the fried seafood platter was done to perfection.. Owners are present and the service was very professional.

Hidden Gem

By Chelsea M |

My family and I are boaters and seafood fanatics!! We have been using golden rule for their seafood market for years!! Well... now that they are a full service resturant it's been such a pleasure! Service is wonderful even for takeout. Again as mentioned before we are foodies and tough critics because we love to cook so it's hard to impress us. Golden rule is absolutely fantastic. The aeafood is fresh tasty and phenominal. The sandwiches, salads, and appetizers are delicious. I promise this is a place that won't disappoint. Some of our favorites include, oysters, conch fritters, dolphin Ruben or sandwich, the Drunken Sailor salad (for the no seafood eaters) and the pastas. Enjoy! Great job Golden Rule, can't wait for your outside seating to be ready!!!!

Delicous, peaceful tasty lunch

By HAMPTONUNIVPIRATE |

We were greeted with a friendly smile, we ate in the outside patio area. They have an indoor dining space but, they have a fresh seafood market inside. The food was tasty and served quickly. Love the atmosphere, felt like we were already in the keys, though we they are off of a busy highway in Perrine. They have live performances. We will be back.

Good and Fresh

By pgharr |

Golden Rule was a go to seafood store that has opened a restaurant as well. They just added a Tiki outside. Food is great, service is good and ambiance is nautical. Prices are very reasonable.

Where Highway US1 divides, sits a little gem called Golden Rule Seafood.

By GeGarciafromMiami |

The Huge outside Tiki hut with it's 2 koi ponds, surrounded by tropical plants makes this a nice get away. The food was good and the large fans all around provided a pleasant experience. We had the fish & chips and grilled fish on salad, which was good. Service was good and quick. Wanting a nice outdoor experience and not wanting to drive far, this is my spot to visit! We have been to Golden Rule 3 different times, living in the Country Walk area, makes this a short trip to the south.

Good Food in an interesting place

By Bradley J |

The cool part of this restaurant is that it is also a market and they have all types of seafood for sale that you can take home an cook. When I was there I had the seared sea scallops and the fried oysters. The reason I gave the review a very good and not an excellent is the scallops were slightly over cooked but still tasted great. The oysters were a good choice and the meal overall was great for a lunch. I will definitely be back.

HIDDEN OASIS FOR SEAFOOD

By navigator2018 |

The outdoor tiki hut was such a surprise: the trees and plants and high ceiling make for an unexpected South Seas atmosphere with a very authentic bar area. The seafood and drinks were amazing. We had the lobster sandwich and the lobster roll - both were high quality and delicious. The red potato fries were the best. This is a one of a kind seafood shack experience, which is hard to find unless you drive to the Keys. The adjoining seafood market has anything you could desire in high quality seafood.

Attention All Seafood Lovers

By bapmiami |

Our first visit to their restaurant but we've been coming here for over 20+ years, they did not let us down. We started with the Blackened Ahi Tuna which is fresh and seared to perfection. I had Caribbean Fried Conch and my wife the Dolphin Reuben sandwich, simple fresh and back to basics; perfect! We highly recommend it and it's worth the drive...

Hesitant due to location HOWEVER!

By Martu719 |

Amazing fresh fresh seafood. Fish market should have been the indicator but had to eat there to believe it. Great start with raw tuna over crispy wontons and then an amazingly large fresh blackened grouper. Double yum. Sorry they didn't serve us the remaining stone crabs WE SAW in fish market but will forgive them based on the remainder of meal. Would have never dreamed this place existed on US1 in between care dealers and nothing. Yay for me.

Delicious stone crabs and fish dip

By mwooduk |

Came here yesterday to get some items to take out, the fish dip at $15.99 a tub is very expensive but oh so good. Really delicious. A treat for sure. The stone crabs are more expensive here than at Publix or Milam's but we do feel they are the freshest. $25.99 a pound right now for medium claws but they, and the mustard sauce, were divine!

Credit card fraud and low quality food

By R G |

Great restaurant for the last 15 plus years but couple of bad experiences lately ( not the same food quality ) also noticed not the same crowd like before. My worst experience was I gave them my credit card to charge and 20 min after I left the place I received call from the credit card bank because someone is using my card 4 other places . Be careful everyone.

Best local seafood market!

By westchestergal86 |

It's a gem. Fresh seafood and friendly + knowledgable staff! Have not had lunch there yet but it is definitely on my list.

Dinner with family and friends

By Jacqueline G |

Not only are they a seafood market but now also a restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised! We were a big party which they seated us within five minutes on a Friday night. The food was delicious. Appetizers, entrees, salads or anything you order is awesome. In addition the service was great. Our waitress who I did not get her name was awesome.

Great seafood!

By Andrea C |

They just opened their restaurant. The shrimp baskets--coconut and fried were wonderful. They had 7 good sized shrimp, slaw, and fries. The cost was $9.99. The couch fritters were good but not great. A fried snapper was very good and served whole. Service was attentive! Can't wait to go back! It is about time we got a good cheap seafood restaurant in Miami.

Delicious Food, Lush Setting—A True Local Gem

By Tiffany Street |

Took my son out for a birthday lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. The setting is charming—outdoor seating with plenty of shade and fans to keep things comfortable, even in the midday heat. The food was delicious, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Tucked under a tiki and surrounded by unique plants, this spot feels like a little tropical escape right in the city.

Lunch with friends

By bevsboys |

Tuesday was my first visit to Golden Rule’s restaurant. Several friends and I were celebrating the end of a successful school year. The food was delicious and the ambiance is very tropical.

Nice outdoor seating

By Nelson R |

The new outdoor area is nice. Seems it is not complete but the service was good. The food was good and priced right. Overall a good experience.

Very fresh seafood

By wcosue |

Very fresh seafood. I had shrimp & my friend had shrimp tacos and both were excellent. Service was fast & very attentive.

Super tropical tiki hut, outstanding seafood

By Mayson B |

Consistently great food. The fried shrimp is fantastic as is the grouper sandwich - worth every penny. Dine outside under the tiki hut - an incredible tropical jungle feel right in the city of Palmetto Bay. I dine here every time I come to town.

Golden Rule Seafood - GREAT place for casual, very good seafood!

By byMT305 |

Successfully in business for many years, Golden Rule Seafood restaurant (located on U.S. 1 in Palmetto Bay area) is a fun, casual (outdoor tables under a large tiki hut) place has a large menu sections of fishes, sandwiches, et cetera; they’ll do fried, grilled, blackened. All fresh; all good. The large koi pod, planting, & funny/funky signs give Golden Rule an enjoyable “Keys” vibe. We enjoyed: Stella Artois on draft White Sangria Buffalo shrimp - a DELICIOUS appetizer Fried Mahi sandwich - yum! Blackened Grouper sandwich - YUM!! Mr. B’s Burger - perfectly cooked For a come-as-you-are, fun, casual restaurant, Golden Rule is hard-to-beat!!

Very good

By Andre O |

Order stone crabs, fried oysters and grilled shrimp. Everything looks fresh and tasteful. Service is ok, they should ask no f is you first time, so you can give a look on the outside seating. $ 45/each with tip and one beer.

F-R-E-S-H and Tasty too!

By JerryGomez33143 |

We were in the area and decided to take a friend up on his recommendation and glad I did. A lot of places claim to have fresh local fish and you would think it is easy in South Florida, this place delivers. Don't let the building sway you the tiki hut in back transports you and despite the fact that the road is there the landscaping, water feature and music drown the sounds. I like to try fried seafood items as a good base for freshness, if the freshness comes out here its the real deal. Had the fried platter conch fritters, shrimp two ways and fish. Only coconut shrimp came up short to the beautifully fresh breaded shrimp. I think maybe substituting their fried oysters would be a good move and it adds to variety of the platter. Nice varied menu, fast and friendly service and bar has a good selection of beer. Will be back soon!

Tasty Seafood.

By billycooley |

I had lunch with three friends at the Golden Rule Seafood Restaurant on a mild South Florida day. The service was good (thanks Emily Y.). The spacious, high-ceiling outdoor dining area was quite nice. Lots of local vegetation and a fish-laden pond added to the atmosphere. We started off with two appetizers, fish dip and conch fritters. There was plenty of each, both of which were very good tasting. I then had the shrimp and fried oyster po-boy. It was huge, with large portions of shrimp and oysters. It was a lot of food, but I managed to finish it all. I'd definitely recommend the Golden Rule, and will return some day.

Awesome local seafood market and restaurant

By Hillary |

Golden Rule has been a favorite local seafood market for years, and they recently opened the restaurant side of the business. They receive fresh seafood daily from the Keys, you know by hearing the fishermen call while you're there shopping. Their stone crabs are delicious. The restaurant is casual, but has great options you won't find anywhere else. It's very clean, and the service is great. It's family owned and operated, and that comes through with the friendly service you consistently get. Highly recommend them.

If you haven't been then you're missing out.

By JayCee |

So many positive reviews can't be wrong. Great great food!! Great friendly service. Good location. We enjoyed everything about our visit. Looks like we just found our seafood spot.

The Freshest Seafood in a non-descript location

By StephenSDenver |

On US1 in the southern part of Miami (Palmetto Bay) is this legit seafood market and restaurant selling the freshest seafood you'll find. Stone crabs, oysters, all kinds of fish are available along with any of the sauces and sides to cook and eat them with. We got a box of oysters to go to shuck at home and these were awesome. ($45 for about 100 with most of them being large).

Great food

By Susan S |

My husband loved the fish tacos. I loved the shrimp basket. Laid back atmosphere. First time eating in the restaurant but have been buying seafood from the market for years. We'll be back!

Saturday June 11 -dinner

By tonysaiz |

The restaurant decoration is pretty non-descript and low key. The food was superb; I had the blackened Mahi-Mahi while my wife had the Lemon Butter snapper. Both dishes were excellent. Service was good, with lots of eager and polite young folks coming by often. My low review is due to the very, very limited menu. This location sells fish by the pound and has an excellent selection- crab, scallops, etc. -why can't any of these fish be on the menu? Also, there was no fish soup!?!? first time I've been in a fish restaurant without this staple. Finally, I asked (and was charged) for sautéed vegetables only to be told that they don't sauté vegetables.

Falling short...

By mymaddiegirl |

So most of 3 stars were for the beautiful outdoor patio seating. Dont waste yoir money on stuffed lobster tail. Some kind of smear called stuffing and a very small lobster tail for 27.99 which I reinforcefd with our waitress it would go back if overcooked. It was borderline, and opted to keep it.. The best part were the grilled brussel sprouts. My date had grilled grouper sandwich which the wsitress misunderstood no seasoning and tarter on the side as nothing. By the time condiments came sandwich was cold, at least brussel sprouts were good. Which wete 2$ extra as a substitution. By the time anyone attention to fix it it was too late. Going home to be warmed up for lunch. At least they could have offered to take the 2$ substitution off. They have better food up the stteet, this was not worth it.

Great food and service

By Maria G |

My husband and I went on a Saturday for lunch and we only had to wait ten minutes before being seated. To start we order oysters (a bit pricey for six oysters but very fresh) plus my husband ordered clam chowder. We both ordered the "Lobster Roll" (highly recommend) delicious. I ordered the signature "Guava Mojito" (highly recommend) it was very good. I highly recommend the restaurant; the atmosphere, the food and the service was very good, the waiter kept coming around to see if we wanted anything else. We will recommend to others and will be returning.

Awesome fresh fish basket

By Laurie D |

Not sure what the put on their fries but they are great. Our second time here. Just as good as the first time. We want to try the whole fish dinner next time. Hard to find but worth it!

Fabulous restaurant

By DonaLevine |

I went there with 10 friends. We ate outside on the patio (the weather was perfect for it) Everyone enjoyed their meal. Portions we large and prices reasonable. I didn’t see any air conditioners and I wonder if we would go back in the summer. There is an inside dining room - so probably

Bad Service!

By Alex |

Came to the golden rule for a late lunch was seated promptly however after about 10 to 15 minutes . to the right of me five or six people were seated there already before us and to the left of me table with no one seated yet. Waiters and waitresses going back and forth constantly. One waitress comes by and says will be with you shortly I look up and she's talking to the table to the right of me where people have already been seated for a while. Few minutes later table to my left party of four since down another few minutes a waiter comes to their table and starts taking their order so I tell my friend I think we should just get up and leave looks like we're invisible here. So, as I passed the waiter at the table to my left I say thank you we're invisible. On the way out I'd tell the story to the waitress she just looked at me with deer in headlights expression and just let us go by. Did not try making excuses just let the business go right out the door. We were at able to so I guess the waiter thought off the tip is not going to be that good we spend on the average of drinks and food but $115 and I tip 20% usually depending on service but I guess 20% on $115 food check is not good. The good thing is we were talking about Black Point Grill great view great service super prompt every once in awhile, do you need anything do you need anything else. Breath of fresh air!

Great food and service, outdoors (great for Covid), nice location.

By Dan Z |

Had lunch last week, Great fish, well prepared and fresh! Located on S. Dixie Hwy, easy to get to, & has Fish market next door. Been there long time. AAA+++!

Beware

By Dissatisfied |

Food was quick to come. It felt as if they already had some things precooked. We just ordered calamari appetizer and came in about 3-5 minutes from the time we placed order. My wife order shrimp with grits . My daughter had fish fingers and fries. I had shrimp with white rice pico de Gallo and sauce but they also brought these red beans that are not even mentioned on the plate I requested. The beans were cold for a meal that had just been cooked. It was a little colder then room temp aturde. My little girl complaint about stomach hurting we thought she needed to go to the bathroom. She didn’t want to use rest room there so we drove home she didn’t use bathroom went to sleep and 1 to 2 hours later she startEs throwing up spend the night taking care of her my wife tried the fish finger and she Also was ill with stomach ache. I didn’t try it so the only thing they ate in common was the fish fingers.

Seafood Heaven

By ChALUTCH |

Found this place at the Deerfield Seafood Fest, which is a great local attraction.Although the price of stone crabs have escalated since we first started coming to south Miami,we loved bringing them back to our friends home for a special treat. We had passed this place many times before without knowing what treasures and treats are inside, and plan on eating here when we come back in May.

Casual restaurant with excellent seafood.

By Brad N |

Had dinner there with my son. I am a native Floridian so I expect very fresh seafood and I got it. We had the mahi and the stone crabs Both were excellent. Outside dining is very appealing during the pandemic and the atmosphere was fun and festive. The dining area is very close to the highway but I never noticed the traffic noise. My only complaint is that they refused to change the channel on the television screens even though multiple people asked to watch the same football game. The television sound was off so it was not a sports bar atmosphere it just would have been nice to be able to glance at the game every once in a while.

Local Eats and Treats

By Rowdymon |

Stopped in after a full day of fishing the backcountry on the recommendation of the guide. The place was slow, it was aTuesday evening. However the service, food quality and portions were generous. I had the southern style snapper, which is yellow tail snapper(quite the treat to see on the menu), my buddy had the cobia fish tacos, and he was in heaven. But the show stopper was true Key Lime pie. Don’t pass it up.

Kids served last

By matz0hball |

No flavor, Luke warm at best, Kids pasta served significantly after the adults, The service was very poor, we had to ask for refills

Food good, some issues

By mwooduk |

Came here with hubby and two friends for dinner. Friends ordered a calamari appetizer which my husband would not have eaten as doesn't eat seafood and the waiter automatically split the charge for the appetizer between both our checks which I only realized after I got home. Food was good, hubby had burger (the only non seafood item on the menu) and I had the fish tacos which were delicious. Wine pours are generous and Pinot Grigio is good. However the food took ages, almost an hour which is a long time. This place does get busy so get there early.

Fantastic!

By Vega2003 |

We decided to eat here thanks to TripAdvisor reviews and I'm SO glad we did! I loved the atmosphere, food was delicious, and the live music on a Sunday night was a great touch. There was a short wait because the place is so popular. The lobster cheese sandwich and lobster bisque were very good. 👍👍 Service was great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Fresh Shrimp

By Jennifer C |

All 3 of us ordered the shrimp, delicious! Craft beers too. While we were waiting for our meals to be served we wandered around the store to look at the beautiful fish.

The BEST Blackened grouper and pina colada ever

By Kathy B |

I don't give excellent ratings lightly. I would give Golden Rule an excellent plus!! The grouper was prepared perfectly. Spiced and slightly moist. The Pina Colada oh my oh my..perfection. I wish I knew their secret. We had just landed in Florida and the Golden Rule was the perfect beginning to vacation.

Nice place

By Roosty41 |

Really fresh seafood expertly prepared, we had the grouper tacos conch ceviche tuna wontons every plate was delicious for a great price.

Mile Marker 141

By Scott C |

Having only ever shopped at the Golden Rule for seafood, we had been meaning to enjoy the restaurant and tiki-bar out back. What a relaxing place! Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted with a tradition in the Keys of keeping track of the Mile Markers. And two water fountains over a koi pond offer to remind you of how close you are to the Florida Keys. We enjoyed a Honey Sriracha Salmon with fresh vegetables and an encrusted Grouper with Pesto. For desert, Key Lime Pie, of course. We really enjoyed our dinner and Sarah was an excellent host while we sampled everything we could.

Good Place to share

By 12809sw |

The food was delicious. Appetizers, entrees, salads or anything you order is awesome. In addition the service was great.

Diamond in the rough

By evanses5 |

We wanted seafood and our usual go to place was closed on a Monday. We tried Golden Rule Seafood Restaurant and we so delighted! The menu is limited but good. We ordered Lemon Butter Snapper (delicate and delicious), Crab Stuffed Lobster( a bit too rich for us with cheesy sauce), Honey Sriracha Glazed Salmon (just a little kick and cooked just right), and Surf & Turf Burger. The surf and turf had lobster on top of hamburger with provolone and was OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD. We will definitely come here again.

Lunch

By Geoff B |

Seared Ahi tuna absolutely fresh and delicious. Great fresh oysters! Low key and casual. Friendly and attentive servers. Crisp cold New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or early dinner.

All around good place to get fresh seafood or eat..

By Steve C |

Golden Rule has been around since I can remember..Ive lived in this area for over 50 years..Their fresh seafood selection is beyond reproach..They have everything for everyone..Sometimes I think they are a little pricey but theres nothing like them anywhere close to here..so I guess they can command higher prices..For me the restaurant food quality is average...I dont feel like theres anything that sets them apart...but the service is always excellent...I would like to see them get a bit more creative with their menu selection..I prefer the market but every once in awhile we order to go bc the restaurant ambiance is lacking a bit.. other than that they are an excellent choice for fresh seafood..

Good prices

By PeruTrav |

If you are looking for stone crabs at reasonable price you must go this restaurant. In my case, i bought 2 pounds of Alaskan Crabs and sent it to the restaurant kitchen ... which is very good to save money!!

Fresh Seafood in a Tiki

By azuki |

Their tiki hut burnt down recently when someone set off some July 4th fireworks too close to it. Amazingly they waste no time in building a new tiki already! I love dining in their tiki hut. The thick and lush foliage transports you away from the busy US1 traffic to some tropical paradise where time slows and worries are forgotten. With its own seafood market (which carries a nice variety - some fishes you won't find in your average supermarkets), the quality of the food is guaranteed. Fried, grilled, blackened, sauteed, have it on a salad, in a sandwich, with pasta, in a taco... so many possibilities, all delicious. On my most recent visit I had a lobster roll and loved it. Generous chunks of meat it feels like they put a whole lobster in there! You hate seafood but got dragged along to this place? No worries, there are burgers, bbq ribs (smoked in house), chicken and even impossible burger for you to enjoy. But as our waitress said, seafood is really their specialty.

Surprising ambiance

By Babs1586 |

My husband and I have eaten at Golden Rule Seafood Restaurant in a few times in the last couple of months, inside and outside. Our preference is the outside patio. There is of course no outside AC, but the fans they have running have been very adequate and we were comfortable. Plus, surprisingly, you usually do not notice that you are right next to US1 with all the traffic. Their nicely done tropical landscaping really seems to filter the noise. And, the ponds are very picturesque. The overall ambiance is of a laid back tropical "Keys" sort of setting with wooden tables and chairs and a thatched roof covering. They even allow your canine friend in the outside patio portion of the restaurant. The seafood we've had has been very fresh and tasty. My husband loves the oysters which he says are some of the freshest he's ever had. I'm partial to the mango mahi. However, everything we've tried so far has been good. The server staff have all been very friendly and service prompt.

Best seafood on US1

By LilyC2006 |

This is the best seafood market and restaurant in the US1 area. Always fresh and great prices. The outside seating area is very nice. Live music on Sunday afternoon.

Really nice raw bar where you least expect it

By geo62 |

For folks that live in the southern part of Miami the Golden Rule seafood market is an institution for fresh fish, stone crabs and other seafood. I've been buying seafood here for year. Now they have a raw bar in the back. When you go inside your are transported to the Keys with rustic tables and surrounded by plants, hard to believe you're eating next to US 1. The food is fresh and really good, goods drinks and service. Go check it out you'll go back over and over again.

After initial smell of Fish Shop Great Meal

By Harvey G |

When you walk in the door you smell the typical fish market smell! Don't let that put you off. Great menu, service and food. Take a look at the fish on sale after your meal no wonder they have great selections.

Outstanding seafood!

By Pineapples-a-Plenty |

Casual dining is an understatement. Golden Rule is possibly the most casual restaurant you will ever find, and very well could offer the finest seafood anywhere! They are a combination of a retail seafood operation, and a small, super casual restaurant all at the same time. You will have every available type of seafood available in south Florida. We dined on stone crab that were spectacular, and a delicious shrimp number. Superb, both! The service is very good, again, CASUAL, but the real draw is the amazing seafood!

Fresh seafood

By Somuchfu |

Golden Rule is a great seafood restaurant. They have built a large tiki hut with fans. It is very nice. Service is great and fish always fresh. They have a great variety of dishes to choose from. They even have a nice band that plays. Great place to have dinner with friends and family. Also kid friendly.

Great casual trendy seafood lunch/dinner spot

By Big D McD |

This place is a local gem. The same family has run the fish market for 40 years and now they are open for lunch and dinner. The market is stocked with the freshest seafood in Miami and now the restaurant benefits from the same freshness. The blackened mahi is amazing whether on a bun or just on a plate with veggies and sweet potato. We also tried the buffalo shrimp appetizer which brought just the right balance between spicy and sweet. Really good for sharing. Also had the large stone crabs with mustard sauce. The claws were sweet and fresh. We happened to be in the area the next day and went in for lunch and had the blackened fish tacos. AMAZING! These are without a doubt the best fish tacos. After eating three i was tempted to order more. I could have kept on eating them they were so tasty with spicy mayo, shredded cabbage and blackened mahi with a corn salsa and cheese on a floured tortilla. Surprisingly our friends told us that the burgers and ribs are excellent here as well. They have a nice selection of bottled beers and reasonably priced wine by the glass. Also enough well placed TV to catch a game without having the TV dominate the ambiance of a casual trendy fish market. The staff was also very attentive with multiple wait staff checking on you. The owner is hands on and makes it a point to stop by and thank you for coming. For a casual seafood dinner in south dade this is a must try.

Excellent Seafood, but HOT

By DonaLevine |

I’ve eaten here a few times the food is excellent. I prefer to eat in the patio area, however the heat was unbearable yesterday, so we decided to eat inside the restaurant/seafood market. We knew that it would smell like the seafood market but the place needs to improve the air conditioner. The restaurant was warm (but not as hot as the patio area). My friends decided that we would go back again in the cooler months. I would have given 5 stars if the places was cooler

Great Outdoor Restaurant

By Cliffkol |

Golden Rule's outdoor Tiki restaurant has great food and ambience. As always, their fish and seafood is fresh and delicious, the servings are ample and the atmosphere is fun! Service is very good and courteous. Highly recommended!
