We're an extended Chinese family from the Bay area, Calif. and Chicago visiting San Antonio. We ordered some special dishes---fish, shrimp and scallops, longevity noodles, and steamed longevity peach-shaped buns ahead of time, all to be cooked without msg. Those dishes were superb! We were late to dim sum on Sunday, but Ah Ying the owner saved a table for us. Some of the dim sum dishes, like sticky rice in lotus leaves, pot stickers and pork buns, were very good. The peking duck was so so, and the gai lan vegetable was a bit salty. Ah Ying chatted with us afterwards. They're from Macau and Peru. Her husband cooked the special dishes for us. Golden Wok was actually recommended by another restaurant in the area because we were looking for these special dishes. I had called around and other restaurant didn't have them. The lunch was a bit pricey, but then they went out of their way to accommodate us.

Best Dim Sum in the world! If you haven't try Dim Sum you are missing out big time. And you you like Dim Sum haven't try it at Golden Wok you need to visit them ASAP. One try you're hooked!

Sesame chicken is different from the regular stuff. Appetizers were really good. Had the cream cheese puffs and spring rolls. Had it been just appetizers, the review would be better.

I recommend for Dim Sum on Saturdays/Sundays (or a la carte Dim Sum any day of the week). Delicious. Great price. Don't let the location and outside look fool you. It is quite yummy.

A little something for all from veggie to meats. Share main dishes and enjoy. Crowded lunchtime M-F.

On the weekends on Saturday @11, and Sunday @10:30, delicious carts of dim sum are brought around. They have a steam cart, fried cart, baked cart, dessert cart. They have various sui mai, but also tripe, chicken feet, buns savory and sweet. I love dim sum, grew up eating it in Chicago's chinatown, and this is as good. We have only ordered from the menu, during the week, to order dim sum. Much better to get Dim Sum from the carts, as there is a huge selection and much more than what is on the menu. Much more expensive than Chicago chinatown dim sum however.

This is located in North Central San Antonio on a busy street going from IH10 to the Medical Center. It has a large parking lot and if it is full you will have to wait to get a table. It is very busy on the weekend since they are noted for Dim Sum and they serve these dishes from a cart on weekends. During the week you are given a form to check off the items you want to order and they prepare them and deliver them to the table. They also have a very extensive menu of standard Chinese dishes. The restaurant is very clean and we have never had an issue with wait staff or service.

I was given the impression that this is the best Chinese in San Antonio. I certainly hope not. The calamari was overbattered and was extremely oily. The wonton soup was average for a good chinese restaurant. And the eggplant with tofu was disgusting! I couldn't even eat it. Gross! This should be raven off the menu!

One of the better Chinese restaurants I've been to. I like to try every Asian style restaurant possible and each one is unique. Golden Wok has some of the most flavorful soups, plates, and rice dishes I've tasted. Their General Chicken is done right. Egg rolls, delish, the fried rice is the best. There really wasn't a bad time or experience here.

The food is not good enough to justify the wait (for your food or for a table) or crowds. Perhaps a visit during off-hours would be best. My wife loves this place and the rest of the family doesn't know why. It's certainly not bad, but it is just average. We got some kind of fruity drink at the bar while we waited and it was good. It's also loud! I'm sure I'll return and I would recommend everyone try it at least once.

Family tradition. Came earlier @ 11 and 5 minute wait. New waitress still needs work. But we are regulated we know what we want. Note: order creme bruele when you walk in, or else not ant left if you wait. Shrimp toast, spicy fried ribs, fried rice and orange beef to start. Dim sum the rest. OMG, always great food. A MUST EAT.

Disappointing. Despite being ranked #7 in a 2023 ExpressNews article, Golden Wok is below average at best. Dry rice that tasted like instant and microwave prepared, freezer burned steamed dumplings, dry tasteless chicken in the General Tso’s, and the special WonTon soup that is just a giant bowl of broth with slices of meat that tasted like they had been kept in a boiler all day. Not sure what the hype is all about, but when the best part of your meal is the glass of water, Kirin Ichiban, and the fortune cookie you should definitely look elsewhere.

I would have given them a 3 or higher but the service I got that day was really bad. The hostess was very friendly told her this was our first time and seemed excited to have us. We got a waitress that didn't seem to care for us didn't ask if this was our first time or have we been here we ordered and part of our order was dim sum never got to our table which bother me because that was the main reason for going never offer soup or other options. Sad to say I doubt I would come back I have been to restaurant that are more reasonable prices that treat you like you are royalty...

My wife attended a meeting for ATPE at Golden Wok sat. and she said the food was excellent and the service was the best. They took great care of the entire group and they were there for several hours. At the end of the meeting there were extra plates to purchase so she purchased me a plate and man it was pretty good, right down to the soup and tea. WE have not been to this place since it was at Marbach and 410. Great place to get some great food.

Delicious!!!! excellent service. If you love Dim Sum then you must eat here. There is always a wait of more than 30 minutes but it is well worth it.

We have been coming to this restaurant for a few years and the quality of food and service have both decreased significantly. My favorite meal was the vegetable fried rice, which has now become greasy. The sesame chicken is usually what I order and although it is good, I have had better. If it weren't for the TERRIBLE service, I might actually continue to eat here. We usually hate to eat at the restaurant because the staff is rude, and not worth tipping. The carpeted floors also tend to be sticky (you can feel your shoes sticking to floor as you walk) which is absolutely disgusting. When we do eat here, we order to-go and pick up. We ordered about food about a week ago while my sister in law was having a baby nearby in the medical center. We had a large order and when we got back to the hospital, we realized an order of food was missing. We immediately called to see if they would deliver it to us and they refused. Instead, they offered a refund to the debit card used. We agreed and waited a few days and saw no refund. We finally called and after speaking to 3 different people and being put on hold for 13 minutes, spoke to a "manager" who was extremely rude and offered no result. He said sorry he did not see any order for that date and no one wrote anything down. My husband tried explaining that he did ask to speak to a manager and that was told he would receive a refund, and the man hung up. We called again and spoke to "Lina" who said she argued she couldn't do anything. I explained we have been ordering from them for years and the incompetence of her staff was not my fault. She offered to research and call us back the same night. Never received any refund or any call back from management... I will never return.

The Golden Wok is the place to go for Dim Sum - Sunday morning starting at 10:30 AM. Only on Sunday morning. Four of us arrived at 10:20 there were ten people ahead of us. Hint: Go early. By 11:20, we were full with tasty, well prepared and attractively presented dm sum of various expected sorts. Avoid any bread rolls - only because they will fill you up. But, look for the shrimp, barbecue pork buns, "Chinese broccoli" (it has several names). We did not order anything fried, and the noodles, with onion and chives were excellent. We took a few things home for afternoon snacks. The restaurant and restrooms were clean, the service and what staff were excellent. It's not Houston's Chinatown, but it's worth a visit for residents and visitors alike.

I've been going to Golden Wok for at least 15 years now. Love the Dim sum on the weekends. This is the first place that comes to my mind when Chinese food is mentioned. I don't think I need to say anything more. That pretty well says it all.

They offer a variety of delicious Dim Sum. The fish in black bean sauce entree is one of their best dishes along with the sautéed snow pea leaves. Service is average, but the food is consistently good.

We have eaten here three times now and we LOVE the food. We haven't tried the Dim Sum offered because we have found some real favorites on the menu. We have often had the Crispy Beef and recently tried and loved the Moo Goo Gai Pan. It was the best that we've had anywhere. Two entre dishes and fried rice was plenty for our two couples along with some ginger dumplings. This is our new "GO TO" place in and around San Antonio for the finest, freshest Chinese food!

The food was great and service was timely. The server wasn't super friendly, but he was accurate and fast. Overall it was one of the best Chinese food restaurants I have been to in San Antonio.

We ordered PadThai (no spices)and Sweet/sour chicken. The pad thai tasted like it was fried in burnt oil. We had to reorder a another dish. The S/S chicken was ok but nothing to write home about. We will not go back.

Best Dim Sum in San Antonio. I've eaten Dim Sum in many cities and this is as good as it gets. Great variety as well.

My wife and I have dined at Golden Wok several times over the past six months since we arrived in San Antonio. Although we had one bad experience, it was not a recurring problem. First, the egg drop soup is very good. The side noodles are also good for mixing in. The spare ribs are prepared differently than what I am used to in a Chinese restaurant. First of all, they are called "spiced ribs" and not spare ribs, and they are prepared by pan frying or searing in a spicy rub, which makes them crispy. Different, but still pretty good. Of the main courses that I have tried so far, the Chung bo steak was the best dish I have eaten there. The meat is tender and juicy, with sauce you pour over the side of rice. My wife says and I can agree that the Basil Chicken was a good dish as well. Service has usually been good, but had one bad experience with a waitress who seemed to be inexperienced and was overwhelmed with business one evening. It seemed to take forever to get refills and the main course, even though I saw others who ordered after us get served before us. Anyway, the tip reflected the poor service. And as I said, I have not experienced that type of service again. All in all, the restaurant presents a very good meal at reasonable prices.

15 minute wait to be seated, but well worth the extra time. Great service and excellent food.

I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. The Dim Sum is fun and good-and every entree ranks right up there with the best Chinese I've eaten. The decor is great-a lovely koi stream outside the large windows, and the service attentive and helpful.

Went in for some carry out Kung Pao chicken. I have had trouble finding good Chinese in San Antonio. Location is a little out of the way but the KPC is wonderful. The people were very nice as I picked up and checked out. As for the food, I'm going back tomorrow evening. I love this stuff. A little spicy but not too much. Sauce was a little thick and one piece of the chicken was a little dried out, otherwise a 5. Packaged up nicely. Eggrolls were OK not superb, but then it took me 35 minutes to drive home so they would surely have been better in the restaurant. The hot mustard is really HOT. Watch that stuff.. Love this place.

The service is top notch. The portions were huge and delicious. The best egg drop soup I have had. The prices are very affordable.

3rd and final visit. Ordered some take out, got to the restaurant only to find one item was missing which they had to add and made me wait 15 minutes while the original order was going cold on the counter. Got home to find that the Kung Pao shrimp and scallops had no shrimp and loaded with peanuts. We cannot have peanuts!!! The Curry chicken, which I ordered with no fruit, was loaded with raisins, pineapple, and, wait for it, peanuts. The chicken lo-mein had odd bits of beef and pork in it! One of our guests is Muslim and its freakin’ Ramadan! The pepper beef was like eating a shoe, and yes, had peanuts in it! It all went in the trash! We went out for other food! I called back the restaurant and spoke to Charlie the manager who agreed the dishes were incorrectly prepared and apologized. I was satisfied with his input, then he said, ‘next time you come in let us know and we will give you a few dishes on the house’. Really? You think I am falling for that? I asked for a credit for two dishes, sure he said, I’ll take your credit card number and make its done. He took my card number but I know he will not fulfill his promise of a partial credit. Personally I am sick and tired of restaurants fleecing hard working patrons with sloppy work and food. If you cannot do what a customer wants then tell them at the time of ordering or do it. Make your own mind up if you want to go here. If I don’t get my credit I will leave in the hand of my credit card company.

Best Chinese food in San Antonio. The service isn't exceptional but adequate. It's definitely great value and quality for the money.

In all of the years I have lived in San Antonio, I have always wanted to try this place. My husband and I met for lunch mid-week and we definitely will go back many times over. The outside of the building is unassuming, nothing fancy or curb appeal. We were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu has many items to offer including Dim Sum on the weekends which we plan to try next. My husband ordered the Beef with Broccoli lunch special that included an egg roll, egg drop soup and an ice tea for $7.69. Great value and portions but flavor was amazing! The meat was thinly sliced, not think and tough. The seasoning was just enough, not salty. I had the MISO Noodle soup and the noodles tasted homemade but may not be. Both dishes were served hot. We both ate until were satisfied and took home leftovers enough for dinner. If you go at noon you'll have to wait 15-30 min to be seated. Our waiter was courteous and knowledgeable about the dishes.

Good Service. Decent size servings. Some with us had seafood, beautiful and tasty at good price. Excellent hot tea. Banana dessert beautiful and yummy

It's not the best Chinese place in town however the food is decent.I really like their Dim sums;freshly made and flavorful. The Pad Thai was not very impressive nor was the Mongolian Chicken. This place is good for a change; for friendly Friday's and Chinese lovers!

We ate at the Golden Wok 3 times during a recent trip to San Antonio. We found the food, service and atmosphere to be outstanding. The food was fresh and expertly prepared and the service was top notch. This place does get crowded so be prepared to wait a bit during busy times.

I love the food here but unfortunately I live quite a ways away and it's not convenient unless I'm at a doctor's appointment. But it's worth the trip/

If you go to aisle 9 in Costco, the frozen section, you will find Ling Ling pot stickers and egg rolls....eat these, save your intestines. Promising sui mai and veg roll dim sum dishes, that came with zero accompanying pepper sauce or scallion dipping sauce. The full bore soy overpowered the only good portion of the meal. Everything else was tasteless, overdone, and downright gross. I hate to leave bad reviews, but I must be jaded from eating good Chinese and dim sum, and went here on merit of local reviewers....very disappointed.

Great Chinese food that deserves a high rating. I enjoyed the make your own meal idea where you select a bunch of fresh veggies and sauce and hand it over to the chef. Great value and taste. Highly recommend.

I would have rated 4, but they lack in what most Chinese restaurants offer. They have around 6 plates you can have on the lunch special that include an egg roll, soup, rice and a tea. Most have a menu that consists of a much larger selection. One of those offered switches out daily. They do have large servings. They also charge extra for crispy noodles that go in your soup. Most places offer those for free. The wait staff was just ok.

We love their food and the dim sum is fun to try. Food today was excellent as usual, but the service was really, really bad. Our waitperson was anything but attentive and, I think, tried hard to forget we existed, but we'll be back in spite of today's service. Just won't sit in that persons service area. The food is fabulous and I hope the manager will keep a better lookout for poor service. All in all, I recommend giving this place a try.

Our dinner was very good. The dim sum was kinda sticky, but tasty. Our low mein was very good. Our fried rice was not very fried at all and was not real tasty. We are going to try this place again and order different items to see how we like them. The place is huge and we didn’t have to wait on a Saturday night. The music was kinda weird for a Chinese rest. But we will be back!

We went there for lunch today. The food was great and the service was amazing. It was a nice touch to see everyone in white shirts and nice ties. The price was a little too steep for a regular place to eat for me. It would be a great place to go for a dinner date though we got there as they opened the doors at 11 am and the place was packed with a waiting list by the time we left at about 12 noon.

We have dined here 4 different times over the last 2 years & have never been disappointed. The chicken fried rice and lettuce wraps are my personal favorites. The shrimp toast, egg rolls, chicken broccoli, pepper beef, and cashew chicken are also delicious. The regular dishes are large portions so we usually share. The lunch specials are a great deal and are very popular.

Based on the reviews, I had high expectations. The place was pretty busy for a Monday. Service was ok but my waiter wasnt very inspired. My General Tso with rice was promised with a spicy sauce but it was bland. Some chicken pieces also tasted weird. All 'n all a bit disappointing. Will not return.

Decided to try Golden Wok on our visit to San Antonio after reading good reviews. It was an absolutely wonderful experience The food was delicious and the service was really fast, which was a huge bonus because we were starving. We had a few regular menu dishes and also a couple dim sum dishes and everything was very good. I thought the price was fair; three adults and two children we paid around 65 with plenty of leftovers.

Freshest vegetables-great shrimp-good selection of tea-very busy at lunchtime-cook just right-crunchy-nice selection of sauces,

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and has impressive reviews and ratings. We really looked forward in going here. Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. The greet staff was wonderful, but our server was not. We had waited for a booth for quit a while, but that was our choice. Our server showed no customer attention and was not very pleasant at all. As I observed, I don't believe this was typical of the other staff. When my meal arrived it was wrong and had to be redone. The food was fair at the best and that may be over overrating. Maybe you will have a better experience, but we will not be going back.

Have frequented this place since first opening location in 1973. It was the closest to Chinesei was used to in Far East. Ordered take out chicken fried rice. Rice not fried. Mostly uncooked onions. Didn’t taste egg or chicken as it was scare and rice was white not light brown from frying and soy sauce. Called restaurant-when I got home and informed Mgr cooks must’ve been in hurry to go home 😊 She did offer to replace meal if I returned it was late and I did not instead I tried to give it some taste with soy sauce as you will see in picture. Gone there for lunch etc for years. 😞 BTW. Only fried wontons I’ve had here made correctly and served with sweet sour sauce.

This is a great place to get your fix of dim sum, the servings are usually three to four pieces we usually choose a whole lot of them and get our grub on!!!

We've dined here several times since moving to this area and simply cannot get enough! The taro go is AWESOME and more taro-y than anything else I've ever tried. The dim sum is also delicious any way you get it! The bbq pork is tasty as well as the custard dim sum! Anything with the lotus seed paste is bound to be delicious (you MUST try the gin doil). If you're not in the mood for dim sum or anything of that sort, try your hand at their stir fry bar! They have a little bit of something for everyone! The staff there is really friendly and on it with the service. I think you should definitely give it a try! Do it!

The daily lunch specials are a great value providing entree, tea, brown or white rice, soup and egg roll. The portions are ample, tasty, and often enough for left overs. Be aware that if you want crispy noodles for your soup, you have to order them separately. Still a great value. Pad Thai is not a daily special, and is wonderful.

At 2 PM in the middle of the week, this place was jumping. We had stopped in the Medical Center and were looking for some late lunch. I knew they must be doing something right here just by the crowds of customers. Our server was cheerful and efficient. My BW ordered lemon chicken, one of the daily specials. This dish comes with very tasty pork fried rice, with pieces of veggies and pork. There was a big delicious egg roll, and a cup of tasty egg drop soup for $7. I had the Kung Pao chicken. The meat was stir fried in a thick spicy coating. It was all white meat and plenty of it. I had steamed rice and a big egg roll. This is a good place for tasty Chinese food at fair prices. Because the Golden Wok is so popular, I suggest that you arrive very early, or late. This is one of the most popular eateries in the Medical Center during the week.

have always heard of this Chinese restaurant and am glad my friends suggest it for dinner. it was delicious! it was nice that we all ordered something different so we can sample lo mein, moo moo gai pan, fried rice, egg drop soup etc. it was savory, authentic. I'll be back.

Dim sum ends around 2. Cart stops running around 1:30 to 2. So come early because the wait time can be an hour or longer. Some items may get sold out if you come late. I would probably come around 12 the latest. When I sat down, 3 flies immediately made that nuisance presence. The establishment definitely wants to address this pest problem. 1. Ham Sui Kwok $5.39 - It was hot (temp) and decently seasoned. The pastry is a bit crisp and not doughy. 2. Fung Jou $4.99 - It was delicious and pretty standard. 3. Sui My $4.99 - Well seasoned and quite delicious. 4. Spare Ribe $5.39 - A lot of flavor and well done. 5. Cha Sui Bao $4.99 - Well seasoned and average filling quantity. 6. Gai Bao $4.99 - The ginger taste was present. However, the filling is over stuffed and overcooked, hence solidly stiff. Would taste better if the filling was more fluid like. 7. Egg Custard Tart $5.39 - The tart was flaky and the custard was sweet at the right level. 8. Shrimp Cheng Fan $5.89 - The shrimp was good and the pastry was slightly smooth and flexible. It could be a bit thinner, smoother, and more flexible. 9. Hot Tea $2.79 - Pur'er and chrysanthemum. The bill came to $48.51 including tax. Yes, I ate most of it and brought home the egg custard tart and some of the baos.

Golden wok has world class dim sum on the weekends. Their dim sum is as good as the dim sum I have eaten in Hing Kong, NY, San Francisco, Seattle, etc. Service is hit or miss. Non dim sum dishes are ok.

Awesome food. I would recommend a pick-up if you hate waiting. We had about 3 groups in front of us. Took about 20-30 minutes to get a table.

I was staying a couple miles away at the La Quinta, so this was a convenient dinner stop for me. They have fresh stir fry (Mongolian grill style-- you choose your veggies, meats and sauces and the prepare it fresh for you), plus sushi and Chinese options. I had spicy eggplant with tofu and it was excellent, fresh, just spicy enough, and enough to bring home. The veggie spring rolls were fine, but not outstanding. If you're staying nearby, this is a good option, and the prices are unbeatable.

The food was excellent. Came out quick and was delicious. Our server was great as well. Very polite and she was quick to get us our refills without us having to ask for them. The price was overall affordable. I would return if I'm ever in the area again.

Golden Wok is my Go-To restaurant for any occasion. I've come here for the last 40-some years (before they opened this location, I went to the Marbach location - both are great but this is my favorite) and reared both of my sons on Golden Wok's Chicken Fried Rice and their great chicken and shrimp entrees. They have the best egg rolls and you have to try the crispy ribs appetizer... peppery and delicious. They also have the best dim sum in Texas every Saturday and Sunday (and a dim sum menu you can order from all the time), but go early or wait your turn for a table. They are busy for good reason! Golden Wok is my favorite restaurant of all time: had my first date there as a teenager and have celebrated many of life's happy occasions there since then. If you can bypass their excellent entrees, try their "Make your own Stir-Fry". It's ALL good!

What sets Golden Wok apart from other Chinese restaurants is not just their great food, but the fact that they offer authentic dim sum! If you love dim sum or have never had it before, this is the place to go in San Antonio. In fact if you go on Sunday morning, people line up before the restaurant even opens. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!

Here is the deal: great food but horrible service. They can't keep good servers. The dim sum...island rice and miso is amazing..IF you finally get your servers attention to order. The hosting staff only seats complete parties during lunch. For those that have 30 min lunches and your friends have an hour good luck sending them first to save your spot. If the service improved I would give them a 5.

I was very impressed in the quality of the Chinese Food I had while visiting San Antonio Texas. I was reluctant at first to tray but after some convincing. I tried it and was impressed to say the least. The service was ok.

I ate here with four other adults on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was busy but the service was prompt and very attentive. Our server may have been the best dim sum waiter I've ever had. The dim sum cards came by frequently. Overall the food quality was very good to excellent. I would have liked a greater variety. It is certainly the best dim sum experience I've had in San Antonio, and I will definitely be going back.

I have had Dim Sum in several places in the USA and I am sad to say this is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten. SERVICE terrible, FOOD Mediocre, Prices: Too expensive for the quality. Everything in the menu is fried. Now I understand why SAN ANTONIO is the OBESITY capital in the USA,

I had lunch here this past week and ordered the Shrimp Stir Fry my friend had the Mongolian Beef. Both items were on the lunch special and were extra fresh. I preferred the Mongolian Beef dish mainly because it was more flavorful and filling. The shrimp was tasty and the rice blended well with the stir fry. You get an egg drop soup with your lunch order. The dim sum here is also great!

The best Chinese restaurant food I have had in a long time! We were a party of 6 and we tried the orange chicken, shrimp stir fry, sweet n sour chicken, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork and each was wonderful. The colors of the vegetables in the dishes was colorful, pretty, and fresh tasting. The fried calamari was absolutely delicious! Tender and not greasy. Price was very reasonable for the portions. This is one very busy place. We had to wait maybe 20 minutes to be seated but it was well worth the wait. Once seated and orders taken it didn't take long to get our appetizer and drinks, maybe 5 minutes at most. Our meals came out soon after we finished the appetizers . Our waitress was awesome. Friendly and helpful, a beautiful smile all the time. We were vacationing but would love to return to it before we leave.

Have dined there many times over the years. Outside of lunchtime, the service is always fast and friendly. Large selection of excellent dishes. Great prices too. The basil chicken is one of my favorites.

At one time this was one of it not the best place to go to get authentic well prepared meals. It looks like they changed their people that prepare the meals and it shows. Egg rolls were cold and somewhat greasy.food was not well seasoned as it once was. Fried rice was also served cold. Service was very good, I hope that this is just an anomaly the koi pond is still there and nice as ever

We did not try the dim sum as there was nothing on the list that interested us. My husband had the Kung Po Chicken and I had the Singapore Noodles. We both agreed that they were as good as the ones we had a PF Chang's. The service was good and very friendly. We will definitely return when we are back in San Antonio,

Stopped in for an early dinner. We ordered chicken fried rice plus seven or eight dim sum items including har gow, sticky rice, barbecued pork buns, chinese greens. All were excellent. There were a few items unavailable from the dim sum menu, and the food service was very slow, but perhaps that was because we were dining at 6:00 pm rather than late morning/lunch time.

Food is always spectacular and so is the service. We love the ambience and the beautiful koi pond and bridge that leads into the restaurant. Be sure to get there for happy hour for 2.50 margaritas and 2.50 for all the appetizers. From 4-7pm.

I ordered the lunch special beef & broccoli. It was so delicious!! It was very inexpensive, the lunch was a huge plate plus it came with soup and tea. The waitress was very nice. Thank you so much for your great service. I hadn’t seen my friends in over a year and we sat and talked for a long time.

The dim sum is very good here. It is freshly made and very tasty. It can't compare with Vancouver Chinatown or San Francisco, but for Texas, this is a great go-to restaurant.

I have lived in San Antonio almost 22 years and still forget every couple of years how bad thus place is. The server was the worst in recent memory for any restaurant. The room temperature food Tasted so bad I could almost feel myself getting sick as I ate and I did

I just eat dim sum whenever I come here. No other thing is needed by me here. It's as close as to NYC/SF Chinatown to me as you can get without spending money on airfare. The other food is good too, but dim sum is my vice here. I get the stewed chicken feet (don't judge) to the shrimp dumplings (har gaw) among a few other delightful eats. This is a cozy place to eat and has a indoor fountain, which is adorable, especially with the little ones. The other location, which is equally as good doesn't have this indoor feature, but still has dim sum as well. It does take a while to get but so worth it.

But that is a good thing - there a lot of folks here so you may have to wait a 1/2 hour - but that also means the food is hot and fresh on the carts - so big win

Came here for a birthday dinner after everyone said how good it was. We were very disappointed. The food was bland almost as if we were eating at an all you can eat buffet that caters to all heat levels. I don't find it was any better than anywhere else in San Antonio. Hot and sour soup was the best thing we tried. One person had the make your own dish and it was the best entrée as you can control the heat and flavor levels. We have made better at home. The waiter was helpful, but didn't show much confidence in the quality of the food on menu either.

Visiting from out of town, always on our list of places to go. Long term restaurant, good list of natural teas, fried rice was great, orange chicken was the best

I had the kung pow chicken and it was delicious! The food is being cooked in an open kitchen and it tastes fresh and arrives hot and quickly. The server was very good at keeping our drinks refilled - which is important to me.

Wife and I have eaten here two times already this month after she recommended on day. The first time we ate the Chicken and Shrimp pad Thai. The second visit we ate the chicken pad Thai again and a lunch special of Kung Pao with white rice. Servers both times were friendly and fast, we were in and out within an hour. Highly recommend and the Kung Pao is my new favorite lunch special. Thanks for reading. WHDSM

I am a frequent customer of Golden Wok off Wurzbach and I -10. The food is ok, better then most places in the area. But my biggest issue is terrible availability of delivery!! Yes, they do deliver! Good luck catching an opportunity to utilize it though. I call frequently and am told "they aren't currently accepting delivery orders, but I can call back in ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes, an hour..." But 9-10 times, no matter how many calls are placed for the delivery that day never happens. This run around service happens more often than not. I would just like them to be reliable, or not to offer delivery. Please keep in mind I called today at 6:45pm on a Sunday.... yet again, they aren't currently accepting delivery orders, supposed to call back in a half hour. But the woman on the phone happily offered to place a take out order... save yourself from getting your hopes up, at least for reliable delivery service!

Every time we are in San Antonio we eat at Golden Wok on Wurzbach rd. Have never been disappointed! Great food! Great service! We love this place!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on our way thru San Antonio, and had a great meal. I ordered pork fried rice w/o onions or scallions, and they got it perfect. The portion was so large that I had another meal from the leftovers. My husband had the daily special Beef and broccoli, which included soup, fried wontons and fried rice. He also got another meal from the leftovers. We both had tea, and the total bill before tip was 15.00. Great food Great Service Great Value. The room was noisy, but it was lunch and didn't bother us at all!

Very disappointing with food. The MSG capital of San Antonio. The restaurant needs a good cleaning and vents. I hot home an everything smelled like the restaurant. It was very busy not sure why???? The staff were very busy and trying their best. Management better get it together.

My husband and I enjoy the Golden Wok, everything is so fresh and I love the soups. When we want Chinese food there is never a question about where we are going as the prices are very reasonable. Great staff, always very friendly and helpful.

Went during lunch time, the place was clean and the service was quick. Our waitress was very friendly and got our orders correct for a party of 13. The lunch prices were very reasonable.

Food was reasonably good. Does not accommodate large groups well. Staff unsure of their own process for seating and serving. Overall poor service.

This is by far THEE best chinese food I have ever tasted. A chinese take away will never be the same again after experiencing this. This was our first experience at eating in this way. The staff come round quite frequently with trolley's with different kinds of food in bamboo baskets, the scallops are to die for. They serve dim sum only on weekend's however, be prepared to wait for a table, believe me it's worth it. The staff are lovely ,very polite and friendly. If you have to wait outside whilst waiting for a table, there are some huge fish in the little stretch of water that will keep you entertained. Not sure of the cost as my nephew insisted on paying the bill, but I have a feeling that it may have been a bit pricey.

Wonderfull ambiance with koi pond around the enterance. Most of the Dim Sum dishes compare favorably to the China Towns of some of the major cities in the U.S.(e.g. LA, SF )

Having grown up in the Hawaiian Islands, I'm no stranger to many different ethnic foods. Chinese being one of my favorites and one I'm very "picky" about. Typically it's very good or...very forgetful. Golden Wok is a wonderful Chinese Restaurant. Soups that warm you in the winter with their delicious broths such as their Wonton Soup that is chicken based, bright green spinach (not over cooked) floating in a beautifully clear and just the right balance with the wonton's wrapped around a shrimp filling. Sprinkled with green onions to top it all off. Spring and egg rolls are crisp on the outside and filled with flavor on the inside. Again cooked just enough leaving a nice fresh bite to the meat and veggies on the inside. The best Pad Thai in town and more than you can eat. Many Pad Thai's tend to be too sweet from the Palm sugar that is used. Golden Wok has a very nice balance that does not take away from the chicken, shrimp or beef that you can add. It's noise and get's very crowded by 12:00pm for lunch. Go early or you'll be standing in line for a table.

great food. Can get crowded. Portion are large for main dishes. Consider sharing. Great service.

Golden Wok (Wurzbach location) CONSISTENTLY delivers when it comes to providing great Chinese food at a reasonable cost!!

if your looking for a great dimsum restaurant, this is the place!their chicken feet taste like home, very authentic

Popped in for lunch. Looked busy which is a good sign. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food excellent and plenty of it. Had the lunch special - lemon chicken, which included rice, egg roll and soup. Will certainly return to try something else on the menu.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times, but my most recent visit was for carryout on November 11 was a terrible experience. My husband and I both had beef entrees, and the meat was chewy and had a lot of gristle. We also had soup and spring rolls which were fine. We ended up throwing our entrees in the trash after several bites. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Smells horrible on the outside. Got food poisoning. Was up all night sick. My friend got food poisoning from them months prior, didn't think it would happen to me, and it was my first time there.

We were visiting and decided to try Chinese in the area. Glad we did. This was the best meal we had on the trip. Everything we tried was yummy. We left happy and full.

The Golden Wok is a sit down and take out Restaurant. The Restaurant is huge. The portions were big and tasted fine but it was a a little bit on the pricey side. We ordered takeout and they forgot to add the sweet sauce for a couple of the sweet and sour meals--We were to far away when the shortage was discovered--They need better quality control, especially with that type off order--Staff was friendly and parking area was good.

First of let me say I love Trip Advisor. No matter where I go I feel comfortable that Trip Advisor has my back. Anyway, not that this place needs another favorable review but this is great food. It's hard to get good Chinese food in San Antonio. When I was doing my studies in Berkeley, CA I had no such problem. Anyway the other reviewers covered it all, but also believe me this, place has great food. I'm out.

The waitress was sweet, but forgetful. The char siu bao was decent, but everything else was barely platable. I’d give this place a hard pass for anything but dim sum.

You can even get chicken feet if you are so inclined. I have recently discovered this place and have been there 5 time in two weeks. I had Client is from Chine and they wanted Chinese food. It is Americanized Chinese food but still very good for my taste. And yes I had chicken feet. Not bad.

Went for happy hour and had great appetizers and drinks. Clean, comfortable atmosphere. Definitely will goback again.

Kung pao, is excllent and among the best I have had. Orange beef was mediocre as the breading was a bit overwhelming. The pan fried noodles were perfect as was the hot and sour soup . Service was without reproach a testament to the excellent staff. Atmosphere was traditional and intimate. Will return again for sure. I won't let one bum item keep this place from getting the highest of ratings.

I googled best dim sum in San Antonio and was led to this joint on a weekday. When I drove up I was encouraged by the size of the parking lot and number of cars..lots of people means popular right? I looked for the dim sum carts but instead was handed a plastic coated menu with about 10 selections on it and was advised: WEEKENDS ARE FOR DIM SUM. They explained that they take out the carts on the weekends and have a vast selection. I can't vouch for the quality of the weekend but I can WARN YOU about sheer awfulness of the weekdays. If you are a real lover of dim sum that your dissapointment will know no bounds. Let's start with the fact that the shui mai come out all stuck together. If you really know dim sum you should simply check the 'helpful vote now' and stop reading. Dim stuck together in a pile is the 'wolf in grandma's clothes' of dim sum. You just know something bad is coming, don't come inside! I could go on about the greasy fried noodles dumped on the table. The canned mushrooms in the Hot and Sour soup along with strips of ham, but I'd just give you dim sum nightmares. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU'D IMAGINGE IF SOMEONE TOLD YOU 'I know a great dim sum restaurant in San Antonio Texas'. An oxymoron if I ever heard one.

Our family went on a Sunday for dim Sum. We had to park on the street because the lot was filled. Surprisingly because we were a party of six we got a table right away, They seated us in the far back corner and by the time the charts got to our table there wasn't much choice except for shrimp dishes. They did have little buns with hotdogs for the kids who did not like the Dim Sum. We wanted to have desert but they only had jello and mango pudding and cakes, not sesame cakes. Finally asking twice I took the bill up to pay as the kids were ready to leave. The food was average, and came warm in servings for four pieces each steam bowl.

Having worked in the area for many years, I have probably eaten lunch here 30+ times. Love their version of fried rice or "flied lice" as a few of the english language challenged oriental servers have said . The rest of the fare is good to excellent for the many dishes I have tried. Luncheon specials are very affordable (and therefore the place can get crowded). Try the Dim Sum, but watch your total - it can add up fast. If you haven't been here in a few years, they have remodeled and the place looks great. If you have little nippers, you may want to recount after you're inside. A lapse in attention may find your little one trying to surf in the Koi pond that has graced the entrance for many years.

Have been coming since the late 80's, they modified it since then but the food has only gotten better. Whenever in San Antonio we eat before leaving town on Sundays. Ritual, Pleasant, and always pleased. Always the same, to start.. Create your own stir fry, chicken, shrimp, beef Sesame chicken, never disappoints Combination fried rice, crispy & good Shrimp Toast, standby Fried Spicy ribs. awesome Dim Sum steamed ribs w black beans crispy shrimp balls plenty of choices and we do partake of them. Not disappointed. Dessert - Creme Breule BEST EVER. Order early when you sit down, it tends to sell out. Between 5-6 people we order 3. Have had plenty of this everywhere and have not found any better. Do not take reservations but count on a wait. It opens at 1030 and people are lining up. Usually 15-20 for us. Longer on special events, Mother's day, Chinese new year, and so on. Food is worth it. There are other locations in town and in Austin but this is the jewel.

Excellent food is the standard for this San Antonio classic. My wife and I used to frequent this restaurant over 35 years ago when we lived here. Returning last year, we had wanted to try it again, and, to our glee, we found it just as good as ever before. They have added a "make it yourself" section where you assemble everything you want except for the protein. I chose mixed oriental vegetables to be mixed with noodles and shrimp. It was superb. The Jasmine tea was also excellent. I also have to comment positively about the impeccable service we received. Certainly a restaurant that we will visit often.

Never had a bad meal there! My personal favorites come off the dim sum menu. Sunday they do dim sum all day and I highly recommend it. You know it had to be good when you see a lot of Asians eating there on dim sum Sunday! Awesome

Our guests were not too happy with the drinks from the bar. They said the martini and margarita were a bit on the watery side. We were even charged for the drink that was returned to the bar after taking a sip. This is the first time we had issues with the drinks from the bar.

Went here because of high praise for the dim sum in other reviews. Well....it was OK but certainly nothing to rave about. Of the starters we are the ribs were dry, egg rolls nothing special, wonton soup had a nice broth. Seasoning of honkong duck was bland, of the dim sum the only one we really liked was the siu mai. The chocolate cake for desert was very nice.

No matter what if I can't decide what to eat then this is always a great place to go. Food is great with large portions. Love the hot and sour soup. I can eat there lunch and dinner and never get tired of it. Friendly staff and great service.

We were invited to dim sum by a SA resident. What a delight. The dim sum at the Golden Wok can hold its own with Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto and Vancouver. The quality is excellent - for example the shrimp in har gow has a nice bite and crunch , not over cooked. The selection is huge - much greater than average- with many items not usually found such as snow pea greens, shrimp siu mei and others. The section of steamed and fried dumplings is exceptional. What was a surprise are the traditional carts on the weekend delivering the wonderful bites to the tables. These are fast disappearing everywhere and not to be missed. On the weekends arrive early as the lineups can be long.

Dine here frequently for lunch. Food is always very good and fresh. Portions are very large - even for lunch. Staff is attentive although a bit rushed most of the time. Very popular place and can be a challenge to get in for lunch. Worth the wait.

Very disappointed! I drove 25 minutes one way to Golden wok Saturday afternoon, first I saw so many people waiting in line, I thought this must be a really good place to eat! So I waited 10 mins to be seated, the waitress seemed overwhelmed by the numbers of tables she needs to take care of, we waited for a while to get our food, the stir fly was ok, but out of 10 dim sums I ordered, 6 of them were COLD! I took a bite and realized the inside was still frozen !!! I was so disappointed , they replaced a couple of the dim sums for me but then I learned that the rest of them were old, I knew those were not fresh made, they have had been in freezer and reheat for sure! When I asked them why the food was cold, they looked embarrassed and with very unkind respond, I didn't see the point to argue with them which they try to say they just made the food before it was served. So just FYI, if you want to have good dim sum, Golden Wok is not a good choice!

The Golden Wok is just awful. I'm not a picky eater and I have never never not taken my leftovers home with me, but not only did I not take them home, but I was spitting out whatever it was they cooked me. I ordered crispy beef. It was not crispy and it was NOT beef. I honestly don't know what it was, but it looked just awful. I started cutting into the pieces because the texture was just horrible. I complained after spitting out over half of it on my plate. I felt bad for the waitress (the bad tasting meal wasn't her fault). They wouldn't take the plate off my bill, but gave me a $3.00 discount. I ate the rice, but even the sauce from whatever it was they cooked tasted bad. I know this is suppose to be one of the best chinese restaurants in San Antonio, obviously people here don't know what great/real chinese food tastes like. I have eaten in many chinese restaurants and awesome chinese restaurants but even the worse restaurant is better than GOLDEN WOK. I gave it a one because the service was great. Don't eat there. Their meat isn't really meat. I don't know what it is. BAD FOOD - GROSS!!!!!!!

This is our favorite place to eat our own stir fry!! Due to the size, this is a great opportunity for sharing! The best dessert: Chocolate Cheesecake!!! The piece of it is for 3 people at least!

We are trying Chinese restaurants we have not tried before in search of great Chinese in San Antonio, Tx. Arrived about 11:45 pm a Tuesday and still had a 10 min. wait for a table. However there were at least 25people waiting for a table when we left at 12:45. We each ad on of the daily specials (one of the regular menu offerings at a reduced price). The Mongolian beef was loaded with nice tender beef. Veggies were cooked with just the right amount of crispness. The brown sauce had the dried red peppers in it, but it was not hot. Had a nice flavor. The fried rice was also pretty good. Although we did not try it, they have a build your own dish with veggies, meats and different sauces you select from a food bar and then they cook it. Maybe that will be on our next visit. We both liked our lunch and agreed it was good enough to cause us to return, but we are still going on with our quest to other restaurants.

Simply put it's the Best Chinese food in San Antonio. I recommend the ChungBow Steak platterm. Great friendly Service.

Fast and welcoming service for some folks new to town. Cart service flowed well and quality stood next to anything we have ever tried. Just moved from Houston with a vibrant Chinatown and this would do very well. Sampled custard buns and pan fried turnip cake was the stars of the show.

So, i happened to drive by this place one night while staying nearby and it was packed. Looked it up the next day and saw it had dim sum on the menu so figured I would try it out. Seeing as it had dim sum and was busy, I figured it was a legit Chinese restaurant. Went the next night and it was busy again. Had a 20 minute wait to get seated, no big deal (I was on my own, but had a book). What took me by surprise is that there did not appear to be a single person any Asian ethnicity in the place (and certainly not in the open kitchen). My hopes for a great meal plummeted. Decor is a bit on the, idunno, Denny's/Ihop kind of level. It was busy and bustling with families and friends. Waitresses were hustling. They did not have dim sum carts at that time of day, but you could order a variety of items off the menu. I had a couple of different dim sum Items (can't remember which atm) and they were good...which kind of surprised me. I had an entree, too....singapore noodles with chicken. It was fine, nothing to write home about. Prices were definitely reasonable. I'd probably go again to try other dim sum items, but probably would not order the standard fare.

great food, friendly staff, loved it totally! will go back again

Best Dim Sum around. Better than Vancouver, Seattle, LA or San Francisco. We go every weekend. Go early since the crowd lines up and the platters get consumed quickly. 11 AM on Saturdays and 1030 on Sundays...

Lunchtime crowd was pretty busy but got a table with a reasonable time waiting. Maria(waitperson) was exceptional, helpful, courteous and prompt. Afternoon special(Shrimp Stir Fry) was not exceptional, too much sauce with little flavor.

My daughter pick up lunch on 6/18 - 11.51 - TO_GO @ Golden Wok, 8822 Wurzbach Rd, - Double Chicken Delight - Crispy batter-fried chicken sautéed with vegetables and chicken in a hot bean sauce. Well....it was OK but certainly nothing to rave about.

Live 3 1/2 hours from S.A., whenever we visit family there we always go there for lunch. Always busy at lunch, when get there right before 11:00 there are people waiting outside, after 11:30-12:00 you will have to wait for a table (people must like it, a good sign). Now for the food, I always get the sesame chicken with the white rice, its the best and it never changes. The other dish that we get is the moo goo gai pan with added spice, lots of chicken and fresh vegetables. Don't forget to ask for the hot oil if you like your food hot. They give very good portions, these 2 dishes are more than enough that we have take some home. We enjoy eating at Golden Wok much more than a Chinese buffet, for about the same price, we take left overs home and the quality & taste of the food is much better.

If you go here, I recommend going on a Sunday or during happy hour to eat the dim sum. It is the most authentic chinese I have had in San Antonio. They have steamed dumplings, pork buns, rice balls, short ribs, crab claws- and it is all really good!

Excellent fresh Chinese food in San Antonio. Best to get there at 1100 on weekdays, at noon you will have to wait. Dim Sum is served on Saturdays and Sundays during lunchtime.

They also have a stir-fry section in there where you can make your own stir fry but I've never tried it. It's popular among locals because the food is fresh, lunch specials are fantastic, and there's dim-sum on the weekends. Food is very good. Dinner can get very pricey very quickly, so watch what you order. Parking is a bit annoying as well as the wait for a table; if you're in a rush this might not be the place you're looking for.

We hadn't been to Golden Wok in years because we moved away. Now we are back and gave it a try. We weren't disappointed.

I arrived at noon on a Thursday and the place was packed. I didn't have time to wait for a table (there were at least 20 people waiting), so I ordered to go at the counter without looking at a menu for specials since I knew what I wanted. I thought that the person heard my order, but she clearly didn't because I was given the lunch special order instead of what I'd requested. I didn't realized this problem until I wasn't at the restaurant and I didn't have time to go back. Even though it wasn't what I craved, the lunch special was still (thankfully) delicious. It came with rice, an egg roll, egg drop soup, and a small iced tea. I recommend eating here, but if you're ordered to go, then you should check your food before leaving to make sure it's correct.

The service was fantastic, the food fresh and unique. We ordered alot ,some things we didnt prefer, but all was fresh and very well done, what we liked we loved, worth a trip.

My family and I have eaten here many times and we love it. The food is always amazing and so is the service. It can be a little crowded at lunch but it's worth the wait. I will definitely return.

The food and service were good and the prices reasonable. They have a large parking lot. The restaurant's atmosphere is pleasant. There is a large selection on the menu and the four of us had a good time and enjoyed our food.

Contemporary looking chinese restaurant with excellent food and service, I was there without reservation when it was super crowded and was quickly seated and taken care of , food came out pretty fast and excellent considered the big crowd. REASONABLY PRICE , HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Prices are right for the portion sizes. I like having the cooks visible to the restaurant patrons, it's fun watching them cook and helps to pass the time while waiting for the food. They have the standard Chinese/American dishes, but try the chef specials. Can't remember the name of the particular specials I have had on multiple visits but al were excelent and a great change from the standard "Kung Pa Chicken" or "Sweet & Sour whatever".

Golden Wok was our favorite place for dim sum, but today's visit has made us decide to never go back. For starters, we called the evening prior to check what time they opened on Sunday, and we were told 11am. However, when we arrived at 11 Sunday morning, both the parking lot and restaurant were full. It turns out they open at 1030 on Sundays and the employee on the phone had been mistaken. After a half hour wait, our first dim sum waiter is extremely rude and unhelpful and it all just really ruined the experience for us. Golden Wok is not well equipped to deal with the crowds on weekend mornings and I will never return.

Great lunch spot ! Lovely koi pond . Best of all is the Dim Sum We had incredible shrimp stuffed dumplings . They were huge and filled to the brim with seasoned shrimp . A serving includes 4 dumplings priced at $4.89 . BBQ pork buns had a flaky crust and were filled with succulent bbq pork . The custard filled buns that we had for dessert were to die for . Light and fluffy with a big scoop of real custard . Yum 😊 The build your own stir fry bar was extensive . Service was impeccable . Will go back for the Dim Sum for sure.

We finally decided to have lunch here around 1200 noon on Saturday even though it was very busy. The wait time for a table for two was around 20 min so we decided to sit at the bar which had plenty of free seats. The menu was full of options but we decided to go with the DimSum. Even though my wife is a picky eater, there were plenty of items to choose from. Some of our favorites were the crab claws, spring rolls, fried pork and yes, the chicken feet! Chicken feet sounds strange but the flavor was amazing!! Prices for each dish ranged from $3 for small plates, to $6 for large and specialty items. The food was so good that we will definitely eat here again.

My beautiful Asian wife and I went for a late lunch / early dinner. Good service - knew the menu well and was very attentive to our needs. Although I’m not giving 5 stars - it’s pretty close especially considering the price. We enjoyed it and we WILL be back.

This is the most authentic Cantonese Dim Sum restaurant I have ever had in the United States, even better than many similar restaurants in Houston. Shrimp dumplings were chewy and juicy. My favorite food is the steamed chicken feet which is my must-ordered item on the menu every time. Can be very crowded on Fri and Sat evenings, so plan ahead. Has a nice small pond in the front. Recommend for people who are interested in authentic Cantonese Dim Sum in SA!

Having lunch with my daughter. 20 minute wait. No biggie. We were sat in the middle of the room pretty much. A little awkward. Food was average. Hadn't been here in 2 years. It will probably be another 2 years before I return!

Ate here with my kids, my mom, and brought someone new to the establishment. Our food was great as usual. Ordered the shrimp stir fry. Shrimp was large and fresh, fried rice was full of flavor and covered my whole plate, and soup was great. Our friend loved this place and would definitely be coming back.

This is by far the best Chines food place I've ever been too! Right before you walk in they have a pool with beautiful Koi fish and the inside is very nice. The service is great but the food is excellent! I travel to SA just about every month and it's the first place I hit!

We travel here for their dimsum ! Lunch specials are good too , this place is packe no matter what day or time !

Staff were rude when tried to cancel order at 40 minutes as my airman was going to be late. Refused to give refund, If they had been honest about the length of time, we would have gone someplace else. Don't go there if you expect honesty and courteous treatment.

If you love Dim Sum you have to give this one a try. On the weekends only, they have the cart delivery where you point to the items you want. They now have more English speaking employees which makes ordering much simpler. The food is superb. You will think that you are in the best Dim Sum restaurant in Hong Kong. Very crowded on weekends, so be prepared to wait. Large parking lot which can get full. Very clean, modern restaurant and restrooms with friendly, helpful staff. You won't feel intimidated.

Had an excellent meal there with family. Ordered around 8 dishes and they were all great. Will definitely be one of my favorite places when i relocate to Texas.

Worst customer service ever!!! we ate here with family and friends, we have been here numerous times and always loved it, however something has changed as we ordered our food and it took over an hour to receive our orders and it was brought out at different times for each person, we were eating dinner together and obviously we will not eat until each person has been brought there dinner so by the time we received the last meal it had bern over 90 minutes so all of our food was cold, just totally unacceptable, no apology and no comped meals, no manager cane out, nothing, we will unfortunately not be returning to eat here ever again, so sad!!!

The moo shu pork was really good. Almost a reminded me of the food wrapped in a tortilla but it was their special pancakes. Very good and tasty. My wife had a curry dish that she said was great as well. Service was super, but the restaurant was a little cool inside that detracted a little. Will be back.

Always fresh food, well prepared and tasty. Excellent menu, even have dim sum along with a variety of fresh oriental tea's. If you go for lunch be prepared for a wait but well worth it

A good restaurant with decent ambience with excellent dim sum. Can get crowded during the lunch time but we'll worth the wait.

The food was great. It was flavorful and fresh. Our waiter was very professional and polite. The dim sum was authentic and what was steamed was steamed perfectly! I would love to go back. I do have to say that I hated the music, though.

my husband and I were traveling in San Antonio and after a few days of Tex-mex, we were craving for some Chinese Dim Sum. We found Golden Wok and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, although the choices are limited but you can't compare to big city like LA. Anyway, we enjoyed our meal.

Golden Wok is a large Asian restaurant with a lot of options. We tried the cool lettuce wraps with chicken and vegetables and they were wonderful. However the calamari was bland and lacking. The dim sum is delightful. Unique and full of flavor, make dim sum your second course and get a few options to share around the table. Finally, the Create Your Own Stir Fry is a great deal. With a lot of ingredients to choose from, you create your meal and get a very large portion. There are a lot of other items on the menu as well. It was a very nice experience.

We have been to this location a few times and its worth the return. We have had different dishes- All delicious! -I appreciate that they offer brown rice. Warning-they definitely have rush hours and you may have to wait for table.

We visited San Antonio and had dinner at the Golden Wok Restaurant. It was close to our hotel. We had a very good dining experience. My husband ordered a noodle dish, and I order seafood with vegetables. The food did not taste like authentic Chinese food; however, the dishes we ordered were delicious and the service was very good. The place was very clean.

We had a family meal and the food and atmosphere was very good. The wait staff was helpful and tended to our tables well. The reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was because of a few order snafu’s. In one case one of our guests built a stir fry meal and the food they delivered to our table did not have the selections she chose. If the restaurant had offered to correct the problem or discount the meal we would have been totally satisfied. We would go again!

Literally the best Chinese food in San Antonio. The staff is friendly, but they are always very busy, so the speed is the only thing bad about this place. However, that doesn't stop the staff from being friendly, and the food is definitely worth the wait. Now don't misunderstand, they aren't slow, they are just busy, which means things take a bit longer, but not because they are being lazy or anything like that. I've been living in San Antonio now for 6 years, and I've tried many Chinese food places because I love Chinese food, and there is only one other place in San Antonio that might come very close, and that's Formosa Garden. All others fall short sadly, because I love Chinese food a lot, and Golden Wok is a good 20 minutes from where I live now. But I won't go any where else for Chinese. It's that good.

My order was cancelled day before. I still wanted my chicken fried rice so returned to pick up this time instead of Uber eats! My rice was not crunchy as in past but perfectly cooked and as tasty as I remember it!!!!! I did inform the restaurant they dismissed my order day before but did not offer resolution, thus earning 4 stars instead of 5. 😊

The building it self doesn't look like much and is somewhat dated so one might think the food would likely be the same, just average and nothing special but that is most definitely not the case. The food is delicious and the quality of food has never disappointed and I have eaten and ordered from here enough times to where if it was going to disappoint it would have by now. I get the General Tso Chicken and every piece I've ever eaten from here has been solid good white meat--no little hard pieces or fatty kind of pieces or anything that didn't chew and taste like sold white meat. And the Cheese Ragoons (Crab Puffs) ohh the Cheese Ragoons!!! You get 4 cheese ragoons and if I'm eating with another person I have to order two sides of cheese ragoons because I am unwilling to share and let someone eat one of mine. Also because they're that good where you have to eat more than just one. They are very crips around the edges and have small pieces of crab meat in the bottom with the creme cheese. Their cheese ragoons are the best I've ever had, which is why I'm unwilling to share...tell your friends or loved one to get their own. You'll be glad you did.

The service is fast and the food is good. Very popular place and if you come for lunch at noon expect at least a 15 minute wait for a table.

This was the perfect place to satisfy our craving for delicious Chinese food! The place is very unique and the food was delicious. We didn't try out the Dim Sum, but the Chicken Pot Stickers and Egg Rolls were amazing. This place definitely hits the spot when it comes to delicious Chinese cuisine.

Family of 7 had lunch last Sunday. Quite busy but no wait for seating. Almost none of the food has any taste the exception being the tripe which was pretty good. I have no idea as to the price as I didn't pay. Service was very slow. I also don't know if they have beer etc. This is Guangzhou style food, most of it overcooked. As there are few Chinese places in SA, most people seem happy with it. If you're desperate, give it a try. Check website menu first. M

Food was tasty, service was good, and atmosphere was ok. Overall good experience. Wouldn't mind to try again.
Dim sum yummy
I know why I go to golden wok....it's the dim sum. There is no place like it in San Antonio. It was Sunday and we had friends in town. We got there when the place opened and the parking lot was already full. We got seated and carts full of wonderful Chinese morsels started to stop by. We tried about half of the voluminous menu items from the carts and loved every one of them. Get the bau that has the Chinese sausage in it...definitely a hit. I also liked the rice in the lotus leaves. Yummy. Everything was outstanding. Go on Sunday as they have all of the dim sum entrees available. Well worth the wait.
