MMmmmm.. a wet chicken burrito.

Get the Grande Burrito so that you will have enough to eat. The portions are somewhat small but this is by far the best Mexican place in Seattle!!

My husband & I are visiting our son in the Seattle area. We decided to walk to the downtown area to experience what Seattle has to offer. We bumped into a gentleman & we were drawn in to the savory smell coming from his food container. After further inquiries, he told us he had eaten @ Gordito's. We found the restaurant w/ out a problem and rushed in. The gentleman @ the counter couldn't have been nicer. He recommended some items on the menu after hearing about what kinds of foods that we were leaning toward. The waitress brought out chips & salsa which were homemade & hit the spot while we waited for our entrees to arrive. I got the fajita burrito, wet. Wow! It was quite a bit of food. You could tell it was just prepared & it melted in my mouth. I could only eat about half of the burrito. The waitress was very personable & brought out anything we needed. On th way out, I always stop & tell the proprietor how much I enjoyed my meal. I think it is important to compliment restaurants when the staff gets everything right. I would recommend this place to everyone in the Greenwood/ Seattle area. I may even go there again for lunch or dinner while we are here. šš

We eat here several times a year--always large portions and non-greasy food. We try to go mid-week when it's less packed. The ordering and serving routine is very efficient--just pick your selections from the menu at the counter, sit down and in less than 10 minutes your order will be delivered to your table. The last time we went, most of the customers seemed to be families with young children who clearly enjoyed the food along with their parents. The wet burritos are great, with vegetarian options, but I especially like the horchata--a refreshing rice-based drink. Refills are only $1. The place is clean, bright, and uncrowded, at least when we go (i.e. avoiding weekends).

I was skeptical about this little hole-in-the wall lookin' place. I had heard rumours about burritos that were the size of newborn babies. I entered hesitantly. WOW! What a clean and open and airy establishment! You order, they give you a tiny pinata with a name and you take it to any table you choose. The walls are clean and white and their are pictures of babies lying next to huge burritos all along the walls. We got so much food for our buck! We ate chicken quesadillas and still had some to take home. The food is delivered quite speedily. What I admire the most, though, is that they have an open grill. I work in a Cafe and I know how difficult it is to keep your work area clean while trying to be quick. But they were spotless. Not a crumb of wasted food. Just good, wholesome meats simmering on shiny grills. I will definitely be back as soon as I can!

A friend suggested this place so I went when I was in Seattle. People were very friendly. I had the baby sized burrito, and yes... it really is the size of a newborn! But size isn't everything, the food was also very very tasty! I had the burrito with chicken and guacamole. Food also came very quick. Overall I was very happy with my visit. The only downside was that the restaurant closes really early (9PM) when I was there. We were asked to leave... that was a bit of a bummer.

What praytell is healthy about a burrito the size of your head? Especially when it comes from one of the dirtiest places I've ever eaten. Yikes.

Today my family and I went there for lunch today and it was the best Mexican restaurant ever. We ordered a burrito with chicken and it was awesome. The food was served in giant portions and rated gorgeous one of the best restaurants ever definitely a must if staying near.

My nephew recommend Gorditos to our family as a must try since we'd be in Seattle. Wow excellent food! Huge portions, we were warned there was a "baby burrito" as big as a newborn so we opted on the regular size, we'll be forewarned they are easy enough food for 2. My daughter and I each ordered the prawn quesadilla "wet" wish we just ordered 1 and split it. But oh my was it yummy! Husband loved his pork burrito and the house salsa is the bomb.

My first time in the area and Gordito's was recommended by a local. Gordito's Healthy Mexican Food was more than the name. The food was outstanding and the service came with a smile. I will make this a favorite on every visit. The Burritos are large and very good.

4 lb burrito, gotta love it. its the size of a baby! get it wet too, very tasty and u can get like 3 meals out of it.

I'm sure the other items on the menu are great as well, but I go there for the web burritos that are a pretty hefty meal for $7.50. And to think they have an even larger burrito (and they have a picture of it beside a newborn baby for size comparison!). Not sure how healthy the food there really is (mainly because I tend to eat too much there), but it's definitely on the opposite end of Taco Bell and Taco Time. If you're ordering to go, it's best to call ahead because lines can get really long when they're busy.

What a great value! Good, authentic Mexican food for a great price! A burrito as big as a baby. Take a pic with your baby and it goes on the wall. If you are looking for cheap eats, this is a great place. The elote is yummy!

The down side of this restaurant is that it is so popular, you might have to wait quite a while to get up to the counter so you can order your food! But, I have to tell you, it is definitely worth the wait. All their dishes are made from fresh ingredients and cooked when ordered. I ordered a shrimp burrito grande, which is made with two dinner plate sized tortillas overlapped and stuffed with beans, rice, shrimp, bell pepper, and onions. It was topped with a green sauce and sour cream. Yum, yum!

A great, reasonably priced, Mexican restaurant in one of Seattle's many friendly, walkable neighborhoods. It's motto is "healthy Mexican food" and we found just that. The food was well prepared and not greasy or oily. Gordito's is popular, for good reason, and there's typically a line at the counter to the door, but there is ample seating and we've never not found a table, in either the main seating area on the ground floor, or the mezzanine. The menu has something for everyone. My personal favorites include the fajita burrito (with chicken), wet (which means extra sauce, sour cream and other toppings) and the Veggie, Veggie Burrito (wet also). The menu also includes breakfast dishes served all day and a kid's menu. One of the dishes Gordito's is known for is its Burrito Grande (aka Baby Burrito because it's as big as an infant, lol)...it's large enough for couples to share.

Gordito's has some of the best burritos in Seattle and they are also some of the biggest. Don't believe me? Look above the door after you walk in. There are many pictures of babies sleeping next burritos and the aren't always bigger. Two people, no two men, can easily share a burrito grande and feel satisfied afterwards. I have done it and seen it. Or you can eat it by yourself and then take a nap. All dine-in orders come with a bowl of tortilla chips and you can help yourself to salsa and peppers. My daughter loves that they give you a minature pinata instead of a number for your table. My favorite burrito is the wet prawn burrito. Wet means it has red sauce and melted cheese over the top. I have never had a bad meal at Gorditos and until reading a few reviews here, have never heard anyone say a bad word about Gordito's. if you are visiting Woodland Park Zoo or are in the area, drive a little further and give gordito;s a try.

we have been there with some local friends who regularly eat @Gordito's. I must admit it is one of the best burrito i've ever had (the regualr one.....the baby sized burrito it's TOO much), with fresh ingredients and a lot of choises. U have to wait a little bit to be served but burrito's worth the wait!

The fubbsy, comfortable, neighborhood joint literally is decorated with photos that prove that those burritos are as big as a baby. But the servings aren't just big--the food tastes fresh and well prepared. The furnishings are well-used, but everything is very clean. You order at the counter, pay for the food, which they bring out to you. The servers are always friendly and efficient. When we have been away on a long trip, this is our first stop when we get home--for a platter of delicious comfort food.

We have had take out several times from Gorditos. We call in our order and it's always fresh and ready to go when we get there. Staff is very helpful on the phone and in the restaurant .It is clean and has a nice Mexican theme decor. Gorditos food is delicious and healthy.

Tasty Mexican with burritos as big as your head! Do not doubt that these grande burritos are the largest burritos you will ever eat

Hot and quick with a great value, but healthy with all the sauces and cheese? It's your call. Every other month for us when we're in the area, may be. We prefer other health Mexican chain that had food scare a few months back (its stock dropped).

Full of local character but I am not sure how healthy this food is. Lots of calories and lots of fat. I ordered a tostada salad and was wondering where the salad aspect of it was. There were plenty of black beans and soggy rice, fried and greasy vegetables, even the shrimp I ordered with it was fried and not grilled. The food was tasty, don't get me wrong, just not healthy.

Gordito's is my very favorite place in Seattle for burritos. The portions are huge....I mean HUGE. Split one with your dining partner and you'll have the cheapest dinner in town--and you won't leave hungry. The flavors are excellent, especially the grilled chicken, which actually tastes grilled. Elbow your way through the twentysomething patrons who seem to think they're somewhere important and check out the salsa bar. The smoky chipotle is my favorite. The staff are friendly, even if the patrons aren't, and you'll like your food so much you'll forget the noise after a while.

when good quality proves elusive, you can always go for good quantity. that's what I heard once, and it seems this place adheres to that maxim. not that the quality is all that bad, mind you. the burritos are actually pretty good (as long as you avoid the pork which is fatty). the tofu - fajita style is excellent and you certainly want to get your burritos 'wet'. tacos i would avoid and the platos are ok. aguas frescas are a little sweet but not terrible. but the major selling point is the size of the burrito grande. its massive. as big as a newborn baby according to the photo. impressive, but you probably want to share that one if you order it.

Sometimes a girl just needs a gian burrito.....

Big, runny, dirty, and tasteless.

This is the kind of meal I would eat on my birthday Best ever! Great location! I would eat there every day if I could! ššššš

Best Wet Burrito in Puget sound... I once took a picture of my newborn baby and compared it to the large burrito, they were both the same size!!! Although the burrito was not as pretty, I have to admit that it did smell better ;-)

I can't say it's authentic, as I was not brought up in Mexican family. yet, I have been around the world couple of times, love tasty food and..... this is the restaurant you will keep coming back. the best nacho I have!!! been back three times already I found this restaurant by accident, it was recommended by a lady works at Fred Mayer across the street, Surprise!!!

burrito's as big as your head. for real!

I donāt understand the positive reviews. The people there are nice, the food is cheap and the burritos are large, but thatās where the experience ends. Burritos are bland, full of flavorless rice (too much in my opinion). Meat (at least my chicken) was flavorless and seemed to be boiled rather than cooked. Also had nachos, which were bland and quesadillas, which my teenage kids gave up on for the same reason (bland, under seasoned). Iām sorry to say this about a place thatās not a franchise, but Iāve been to better chipotles. Thereās just no heart in the execution of the dishes. I kept seeing a lot of folks streaming in ā clearly repeat customers. My assumption is that itās the right price and the staff is nice, so they keep coming back. I find the āhealthy Mexican foodā tagline funny, because itās 98% carbs.

Every time our family is in "the big city" we make a point to stop at Gordito's. Great food, Great people and perfect little restaurant.

You won't leave hungry

so fresh, and huge!! have to share....

Often before attending a performance at Taproot Theatre, we like going to Gorditos for dinner. The food is consistently good and the portions are ample. Beware: they big burrito is GIANT... split it.

Huge portions, fresh ingredients, few of the people who work here speak English but boy, do they know how to cook great Mexican food. Prices are very reasonable which explains difficulty parking and a line out the door at times. We visit Seattle from Anchorage every few months and always ensure we work in a visit to this place.

They have delicious ginormous burritos that are decently priced.

The burritos are the size of my arm!

Excellent burritos. Portions are GRANDITO!

Not much has changed since I moved away 10 years ago at Gorditos. The burrito grande is still big as a baby and yummy. Order fajita style and wet! Only negative is the very cramped parking area! Avoid if you can because the alley is under construction and you have to turn around to get out.

delicious enormous burritos

Some might have to get over the general appearance of the restaurant. You order from the menu at the counter and pay, before seating yourself. The furniture is run down, as is the bathroom. What is great, is the food. The serving size is very generous, and quality ingredients make for tasty dinners. One of their specialties is a burrito so large that it is as big as a newborn baby. Soda refills are 25 cents, and parking is very limited. The staff was very nice, but you bus your own table.

When you want to eat a baby without the cannibalism.

A very popular place - if you are hungry - you came to the right place - the food is prepared in an open kitchen, the place is bare bones, they have a variety of different salsas, a choice of 4 to 5 beers and some very tasty food - this is healthy Mexican food, just as their name says - not much creme nor cheese. However, if you do finish the massive burrito then you will get all your calories that you missed eating the cream or cheese. But this is a meal for the whole day - you can have half for dinner, a quarter for breakfast and the last quarter for lunch and then you can take a nice nap and let the stomach churn that good tasting food. This mostly a self-service place and the food comes quickly and you can raid the salsa bar as much as you want without any limitations. A great choice for Mexican food, and at that healthy, that is if you don't eat the whole burrito in one.

This place is great. I love the atmosphere, the music, the staff and the other customers are so fun and full of life. Service is always fast and friendly. The restaurant is clean and bright. And the food has never been a let down. You could easily share a burrito with three friends and it's all healthy! Prices are extermely wallet-friendly

As the title says, enough said...get the Baby Burrito. First time back here for me in 9 years and just as good. There used to be only one picture of a baby next to a burrito next to the register, now it's caught on. The burrito will have you stuffed if you split it with another person.

Got a steer from Yelp and concurred with its exemplary rating. Family restaurant with great and healthy fare, very authentic with down home ambiance. The experience is one of a kind, as is the signature plate - a baby sized burrito that you can easily get 3 - 4 meals from! Don't miss this "unique for Seattle" experience.

Gorditos has really yummy inexpensive fresh Mexican food. My favorite is that you can choose for each dish the amount of spice you can handle - from mild to wild. Their grande borito is HUGE and can be enough for 2-3 people to share.

Excellent burritos and tacos. Their food always tastes delicious. We always eat here at least once when we visit Seattle.

I think 'healthy' carried more weight when trans-fats were everywhere, but hey, it's really tasty, there's a cash discount, and the portion size is massive. I'll be back.

Open again after the neighborhood's gas leak explosion. It was closed for about 6 months while they made the building safe again. The inside seems different, but the food (Mexican) is the same and very good. There is a good flow of customers, but at peak times you may have to wait a bit. Portions can be huge.

Delicious burrito with just the right heat. Sumptuous flavors in the very large burrito. Gotcha was a nice touch on the menu. All this AND ample parking provided. What a rare experience.

We used to really like Gorditoās but hadnāt been for 4-5 years. Itās definitely not the same. The food was not very good, the chairs are painful to sit on and the place is overall dirty

Gordito's is in an older business district near 85th and Greenwood. There is a small parking area next to the restaurant, but spaces are limited and street parking is pretty much nil. While walking on the sidewalk, watch where you step because the sidewalk is old, cracked, and very uneven. Inside you will be amazed at the quaintness and authenticity which reminded me of eateries in Tijuana and Ensenada. Even the tables, chairs and restrooms add to the aesthetics of being South of the Border. The Grande Burrito is enough for two people, and there is a selection of sauces and garnishes to top it with. Place your order as you enter the restaurant, and by the time you have paid for it, it is assembled and ready to eat. This is a true "South of the Border" experience.

My wife came to Gordito's weekly when she lived in Greenlake a few years ago. We were happy to see that it had kept its excellent quality! You order at the counter and get a discount for paying cash. Gortito's has very affordable prices and even some parking, both of which are very welcome in Seattle. The enchiladas and burritos are great, as is the carne asada platter. Their aguas are great too. We have literally never had a bad meal there!

I never really cared to eat Mexican food out because it was always to spicy for me. Then I was introduced to this wonderful place. I can't say enough about their burritos. Portion sizes are great. The staff are super nice.

I've been hearing this restaurant from my co-workers for months I've decided to experience this restaurant and to tell you the truth, I love this place, their burrito were big (HUGE). I ordered there famous Burrito Grande for a price of $11 including tax. I went to their Salsa bar and they have three kinds, I have to order to-go because I don't want to be late on my appointment. The parking lot were decent. Next time I will be there dining in for their free chips while you wait.

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Great food in HUGE quantities and the selection is great. If you leave from here hungry, you have a big problem! Super value as well with two eating for under $15.00. The are famous for their "Baby-Sized Burrito".

A few words of advice. Get the grande burrito. It's certainly one of their prized menu items as you will see by the photos on the walls.

I started going to Gorditos when I lived in Seattle in the 90s. Fast forward to 2015 when I made a return trip with my son. I put Gordito's on my must-do list, and the joint does not disappoint. OK, its not fancy. Its usually crowded and loud. But the food is excellent and just as I remembered. I will eat at Gorditos each time I visit Seattle.

When you walk into Gorditos, you look at the menu, give your order to a staff member standing nearby, who gives the order card to the cashier. By the time you're done paying, your drink and complimentary chips/salsa are ready for you. Find your seat indoors or out in the large space, and the rest of your order is delivered to you promptly. I had a burrito with fish and I think the chicken version was much tastier. Can't complain about the quantity or funkiness. My teenagers love it here.

I always go here everytime i get to visit Seattle. 3 times now. Pretty consistent. Huge Burrito! Love the free chips and salsa too. Ever since i came here there has only been one problem or not really a problem but a window for improvement. There has to be servers somehow. I understand its a self serve resto but wouldnt hurt if people can add orders without falling in line again ie extra beers etc. but overall great food and great ambience. Good for families too.

it's as big as a baby! Seriously. they have a photo for comparision.

The food didn't seem that spicy to me (I would have preferred a little more picquante) It's still very tasty and yes, the portions are huge. We tried the wet chicken Fajita burrito and a Salad(which is a meal in itself). Definitely worth a visit.

I am often in the hood so when time allows I stop in for dinner or lunch. Iāve been coming here since mid-2016 and on average about once a month. Not sure I can really add to the stellar reviews others have posted. While itās not gourmet, itās good and filling, no nonsense, and priced reasonably. I donāt hesitate recommending it. Lots of people say go āwetā with the burritos but I prefer dry. Call me crazy.

Visited several times while staying in seattle. The grande burrito is a days worth of food or dinner for 2! My fav burrito place in the u.s!

Every time we come to Seattle our first stop is Gordito's. They have quality food and very generous portions. The chips and salsas are great, and complement any of the dishes you order. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The horchata is authentic and so is the food.

Is it gourmet? No. Best Mexican I've ever had? Definitely not. But for the price & the portion size it can't be beat! Their dining atmosphere is super fun for a large group, the food is better than you'd expect for the price, and when you top it off with beer & good company it's a winner.

First time going, I ordered a steak burrito, fajita style, which means it comes with grilled onions peppers and some tomato. Hot damn, that made such an impact. Incredible flavor! Felt like the best fajita tacos in one, big burrito. While waiting for my order I saw some nachos being prepared which looked like some of the best nachos I've ever seen. Very homey, family vibe to the restaurant, and everyone was kind, and the food was prepared fast. Didn't think it would be so easy to find some Cali-Mex food in Seattle, but it only took me 1 week! Must visit!

Giant newborn-sized burritos. Love 'em!

I remember when Gordito's opened in the late 90s' and it has been busy ever since. Great food, great friendly atmosphere. After not being in Seattle for almost ten years I was very happy to find this little gem of Greenwood still open and thriving. When ordering your burrito, they will ask if you want it "wet", say yes.

As we walked up to the restaurant, people were leaving with take always, and let us know how good the food was, and that we had chosen the right spot for supper! A good start! We had an early family dinner at Gordito's after a long day of sight seeing, and enjoyed the atmosphere, welcome and delicious food, including a special bean only taco for a fractious 2 year old. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. Can heartily recommend it.

I am a big guy and often worry if 1 burrito will be enough food. A friend of mine told me that I needed to check out Gordito's. I was not disappointed, in fact I was amazed. For only 11 bucks I got a burrito that could have fed two normal people (or one me). The soda cost 25 cents a refill, you bus your own table and box your own left overs but that I am sure is to help keep the costs down on the amazing food. There is a large menu but I don't know any reason to order any thing other than the Baby Burrito (the size of a new born baby, just check out the pictures on the wall of all the baby's next to the burrito's). There are about 10 parking spots on the side of the building to make an easy entry and egress possible. As I sat and enjoyed this wonderful food, i thought to myself that even if i was to buy the ingredients at the supermarket it would be very hard to come under their price point. great value for the $$$. The only negative I could have, and it is a stretch at that, is the music is a little too loud. I had to speak with my friend in raised voices the whole meal. I will be returning soon for sure.
Bring a Friend, Share the Burrito Grande
Awesome place! I split the burrito with my boyfriend and it was plenty for the both of us. This burrito is so big you need a fork to eat it, you couldn't possibly try to eat this thing with your hands. Also the whole place is covered with pictures of newborn babies next to the no joke baby sized burrito. Nothing is spicy unless you ask for it. Staff is super nice and the menu is extensive too. Have fun!
