Fabulous Greek neighborhood restaurant

By travelerkaty67 |

Went last night for the first time, though I've been to most of the other Greek places in the neighborhood. It was terrific! I had the chicken schwarma (my friend had the lamb), and it was delicious. The pita w/ hummus was to die for, and I don't know what they put on that little salad, but I need a recipe. Can't believe I've lived around here for 5 years and haven't been yet. They also give you very interesting flavored water. Service was great too, and the atmosphere is intimate and casual and friendly. I'll definitely go again - best Greek I've had in Greenwood/Phinney.

Fabulous!!!

How have I not known about Georgeous George’s all the years I’ve lived in Seattle?! I dined here with a group of girlfriends. We chose the location because it was central to where we each lived and the reviews and menu looked pretty good. We loved everything about Georgeous George’s!! Our server Dylan was outstanding - very knowledgeable about the menu as well as amiable and attentive. There is a nice variety on the menu to suit all tastes. Everything is made from scratch and is filled with flavor. We each had something different and we all loved our entrees. The hummus as well as the asparagus cauliflower soup was absolutely delicious. The Grandmother’s recipe chicken was enticing, though none of us ordered it, but we saw several other diners enjoying it and we will probably be back to try it! Portions are generous and presentation is beautiful. George stopped by our table to visit and he is very friendly and personable. The restaurant is small enough that it didn’t get too noisy, which we really appreciated. Go to Georgeous George’s!! You won’t be disappointed!

Small Place, Big Flavors

By Boyshe |

We came here with another couple for dinner. We were greeted right away by the hostess and the chef. We had the hummus and eggplant appetizers that were full of flavor and delicious. My husband and I ordered the combo platter and we were disappointed. It was huge. We both enjoyed the two meat dishes on the platter. Our only problem was we both couldn't finish our meal. So we took our leftovers home. They reheated beautifully and were just as delicious as the day before. They serve mostly Greek and Lebanese dishes. I want to go back and order some of the other dishes on their menu. You can't go wrong here. Great service, friendly people and wonderful food.

Now this is a falafel!

By 431traceyh |

Big flavor in a compact and cozy dining room. This quaint neighborhood gem in Greenwood has excellent service and scrumptious dishes. Even the water is infused and bursting with flavor. Tonight was my first time, and most certainly not my last. I had the falafel platter with rice and a delicious starter salad. Definitely, a good size portion for hungry appetites or for lunch the next day. I couldn't believe that all of the crunchy, soft, perfectly seasoned falafels were for me. My friend enjoyed the chicken shawarma. She said it was somewhat spicy, but delicious. The owner sent out a complimentary hummus with pita bread since they felt we had to wait for out starters. We were surprised and delighted with the kind gesture and happily enjoyed the creamy, flavorful hummus. Gorgeous George's is definitely worth checking out!

AMAZING. Great food, and George is the definition of charisma.

Great service not sure how authentic food was

By KarlynByham |

This is a small family style eatery and the wait staff were incredibly attentive and offered extras like fresh fruit flavored water, extra amuse bouche from the chef. I ordered the chicken special which was delicious, but from a Palestinian recipe, not Greek. Amazing pita bread, crispy off the grill.

Great neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant

By drpaulSeattle |

We sat down and were served water subtly infused with fresh lemon, cucumber and basil (you can request plain water), transporting us instantly to a different world of flavors. This is not your basic Greek/Mediterranean place, though many familiar sounding dishes are on the menu. The hummus is delicately flavored with zatar and other subtle, unfamiliar, but utterly delicious flavors. Likewise with all the dishes our table ordered. I guess it's a Lebanese influence, but all the dishes, from falafel to schwarma to halibut, had something a little different in the flavors. The staff is very friendly and wants to make sure you have a good experience. We definitely did, and are looking forward to going back.

Bad on me for not having revisited Gorgeous George sooner!

By mtscruff |

My first visit here with friends was soon after Gorgeous George opened in about 2006. One friend was/is mostly vegetarian; the other no preference but a light eater. I am an omnivore and not a light eater. We loved the place, and returned a few more times but not back since about 2010. A new friend who is vegetarian was in town recently and I decided to try Gorgeous George. She loved it! Ordered the Falafal platter and I ordered a Chef's special that night - lamb ribs. About twice the amount of lamb I see at other places! I took most of it home with me. So juicy! I nawed on the rib bones to taste the great rub. We ordered some Lebanese wines (I forget name) but went well with our entrees. Service was fine! This is a small place so reservations strongly suggested. There is a "Chef's Special" menu separate from regular menu. The lamb ribs is on the special menu and served only on Friday and weekends, but do ask when making reservations to see if available outside of those dates. We were there on Thursday, and the ribs were available. The entrees come with choice of salad or soup and a generous plate of hummus. The appetizers on the menu are quite generous. Some customers order only appetizers. Located on Greenwood Avenue, parking in the mixed commercial/residential neighborhood can be a challenge. My friends of old and I are going to revisit soon. Been too long the three of us together have enjoyed George's welcome, good food and service!

Hidden Gem - Fantastic Food!

Gorgeous George’s family-run restaurant is a must if you love fresh, fabulous Greek cuisine! Take out only during COVID. Generous portions.

Amazing!!

By Bricneach |

The food is absolutely delicious, everything we tried was wonderful and so full of flavor. The portions are large.... In fact I'm eating my leftovers while writing this review. The owner and his wife are so friendly, you feel as though you have been invited over to their house for dinner!

Fantastic!

Intimate, super-friendly, and DE-licious! Best hummus in Seattle, and don't skip the Banana Flambe dessert!

Greek restaurant right next door

By David B |

George lives in the same apartment building as my daughter right next door. This is the first time she got there since she doesn't have much money and I was paying. George also helped out by giving us all sorts of extra dishes. We just sat down and said give us what you think we should have. He suggested we share the combo platter and a bottle of wine. He poured us a taste of a couple and we chose the Lebanese red. Then he just started bring us stuff like flat bread with hummus, falafel balls, soup, greek salad. It was all very good and George is a cutup dancing with a wine bottle on his head!

our birthday spot

By KC7HP |

More often than not, we go here on my wif'e's birthday to enjoy the good food and friendly interaction with the staff. Cozy space and lots of flavor in the food. Not sure how to rate "dress code" in the review. Probably, you don't want to be too "casual", but it is a neighborhood spot, not a place to show off. We wear something "nice", like the other patrons we see.

Small, charming, incredible salads

By vamsally |

All dishes I've ordered here have been good, but salads are by far the most incredible. Large plates full of fresh greens and secret sauce that I love.

Come Hungry!

By ncindigo |

George is a very friendly man. He will sing and dance as the mood hits. He always seems to go out of his way to make sure you are enjoying your meal. You always tend to get more food that anticipated so come hungry! I have never had a bad meal here.

Tasty

By JMOTM |

We enjoyed dinner here one evening. I had the combo platter (shrimp and filet mignon) and was happy with how flavorful the meal was. Started with the hummus, Greek salad, and the zahara. The zahara was quite a hit. DW had chicken kabob that she liked. Other members of our party really enjoyed the salmon. Very good service.

Terrific food, friendly service, locally owned. A new favorite!

By plsjustletmepost |

I can't believe this place has been around 10 years and I'm only finding out about it now! My wife, son, and I all really enjoyed our meals, service was friendly, cute place. I had a shrimp and filet mignon combo that was awesome. Like others have said, portions are so generous you'll likely bring some home. I'm always happy to support a local, owner-run business, and we left saying that we're definitely planning to come back often.

Amazing food and delightful service!

I was in Seattle for Labor Day weekend visiting a friend. We heard about Gorgeous George's from her friend, with whom we went hiking that day. He had only been to the restaurant once - that very same week - but insisted that we all go that night because it was so delicious. We called before arriving, and even though the restaurant was busy (there was a group celebrating a birthday), they were able to fit us in and had a table waiting for us when we arrived. The restaurant is tiny but filled with the charm of the wait staff and George. The service was amazing - super friendly, fast, fun, great sense of humor. I couldn't say for sure, but I would bet that everyone working in the restaurant is part of George's family. Our waitress recognized my friend's friend from a few days before and greeted him by name. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp combo, which came with asparagus and potatoes. The flavor of each element of the dish was AMAZING. Filled with wonderful spices. Every bite was super delicious. The whole dish blended together wonderfully, even with the shrimp and steak having different sauces. George, himself, brought out our food, and he gave us some additional appetizers and desserts on the house. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday - George put on a birthday song and personally danced out of the kitchen with a wine bottle balanced on his head. He proceeded to pour drinks for the people at that table. Everything about the experience was fun and delicious. Gorgeous George's is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to ... and I try to go to a lot of good restaurants since I live in NYC.

Fantastic catering for our wedding on July 5th.

By christian s |

George outdid himself with delicious dishes beautifully garnered and served buffet style for our wedding in Marysville. From the succulent lamb to the hearty steaks to the mouth watering fried garlic prawns he served a wide variety of amazing Mediterranean dishes, just like those I have tasted in my travels! The refreshingTaboule salad and the Baba ghanouje with soft pita bread and spicy hummus were perfect side dishes, not to mention the piping hot spinach and feta pies, and lightly crunchy falafel balls! We were so stuffed that the wedding cake had to be postponed until we had room. The crew's professional and cordial service made our whole experience seamless and delighting! I highly recommend George to anyone looking for quality and a heartfelt gourmet experience! Chris Santander

Neighborhood authentic Greek

By Elaine S |

There must be four or five smallish gyro-shawarma-kebab-type restaurants within this mile on Greenwood; I think we must have lucked out and found the best. The moment we walked in and saw how full it was we knew the locals like it. Hot flaky spanakopita triangles were a big hit. I had George’s excellent comboplatter of kebabs, companions enjoyed lamb kebabs and gyros respectively. Barely managed to finish half of our plates and left with boxes under our arms. We’ll certainly go back.

Great food!

By Lori D |

Had dinner here, it was recommended by a friend. Food was awesome. Our waiter was new, which made for interesting service, but the attention of the owners more than made up for his inexperience. I had the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly. Generous portions and a lively atmosphere make for a great dining experience! The chef was quite entertaining as he interacted with the patrons!

Wow!!

By iamnotanumber_6 |

Fabulous Mediterranean cuisine. Hummus served with zatar and olive oil is the best you've ever tasted, and the salad dressing just explodes with flavor. Excellent quality lamb, tender kabobs, and 'Grandma's chicken' are my favorites, though you won't go wrong with falafel or gyros either. Not cheap, but excellent value for the quality and size of portions. George is a gracious and warm host, and his cooking has been consistently excellent over a few dozen visits

Intimate setting, delicious food, gracious hosts!

By Rosie123 |

We live in the neighborhood and have dined at this restaurant frequently over the years. The food is delicious, there's plenty to choose from and the portions are generous. George and Rula are warm and inviting hosts that make you feel welcome and taken care of. We recently used them to cater a pre-wedding party for ~50 guests that was a spectacular event, ample and so beautifully prepared and served. They really care about the quality of the food and the whole experience (i.e., we didn't ask for flower centerpieces but Rula brought them and they were stunning, George insisted on providing the wine, at his cost, because he knew what would taste best with his food). In addition to running their restaurant they also provide meals to area missions and give back to their community in various ways. I can't say enough good things about this couple and their restaurant. Definitely worth a visit. Make reservations on weekends as it's tiny and popular.

Delightful Surprise

By Kit R |

In the area for a play and wanted to try something new for dinner. What a great surprise! A very small restaurant that had the neighborhood gathering spot feel to it. We hadn't made reservations, but were seated quickly along a side wall. Not a great spot, but fine. The salads were incredible. A variety of greens (no iceberg to be seen - hurray!) and an amazing dressing. I had the Mediterranean Chicken and my husband had a combo platter. We both agreed that my dinner was the better of the two. I didn't care for the spices on his lamb, but the meat itself was extremely good. The beef kabobs were dry and not full of flavor. However, my chicken was incredible. Super moist, in a lovely lemony sauce. The veggies were yummy. And this is probably silly, but their water was so tasty. They put lemons/limes/mint/other stuff in the water pitchers, and the flavors blend together so nice. Very refreshing. So glad we came - we will be back.

Great food and fun!

We took an a friend to Gorgeous George for his 79th birthday..oh what fun we had..the food was fabulous as always..George, the owner chef always comes out to talk to us as well as other patrons..He always makes us feel welcomed and appreciated. Tonight, because of our friends birthday he brought him fabulous bakalava with a birthday candle and played Happy Birthday on the sound system..everyone in the restaurant joined in the celebration. This is a small neighborhood restaurant that is worth the drive to have dinner or lunch. The Hummus and Babaganouch were excellent, the lentil soup superb. I had the garlic shrimp and the others had Mama's chicken..all excellent..Never had a bad meal here ..and always feel welcomed and appreciated

A neighborhood gem

By Elizabeth H |

A cozy white-tablecloth restaurant you should be sure to visit right now. It will remind you of the bistros you visited in France and Italy -- delicious food, superb and friendly service, the owner present making sure everything was up to her standard. We arrived at 5:30 with 11 people, hoping against hope that we could be seated and were greeted warmly. The chef accommodated every special need at our table, the meals were served timely, the presentation was appetizing and the portions generous. The restaurant soon filled with diners who were clearly regulars, and although the place is small the noise level never rose above a pleasant hum. I'll be back soon.

Gorgeous George's just gets better

By SamWoodward |

We have been coming to George's since it first opened, but haven't been in awhile. We were delighted to find that the great food got greater. There was a new spice rubbed on the shish tawook (my favorite) and they're now adding saffron to their already excellent rice. I'm not a cauliflower fan but since George was making it I tried the cauliflower and cheese soup. It was great! And the falafel--well that dish was already perfect so there wasn't much room for improvement. They're still the best I've ever had. George and his wife (and little daughter) are very friendly and always go the extra mile to please. If you haven't checked out this little, family run place in Greenwood, you should.

Delicious Mediterranean food

By Bob D |

We went to Gorgeous George's upon recommendation of a friend. We enjoy Mediterranean food, and the bottom line is that all four of us thought this is one of the best Mediterranean meals we've had - certainly in Seattle - and we plan to return. We ordered the large appetizer platter, and it was delicious, fresh, and generous and served with fresh pita. (I'm hesitant to pick a favorite among them since they were all good, but I felt the falafel was particularly good compared to others that I've had.) Among our party of four, we ordered two chicken shawarmas, a lamb shawarma, and a Mediterranean chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meal - and everyone took some home, as the portions are generous. I was very happy with my lamb shawarma, but after sampling the Mediterranean chicken I'll definitely order that when I return - it was outstanding. All of the food was fresh, brightly flavored, and nicely presented. The wine and dessert were equally tasty, and service was very friendly (one of us commented that it felt like we were eating at our hosts' house). Prices lean towards fine dining, but it is completely merited -- this is definitely high-quality, generously portioned food that highlights how tasty Mediterranean food can be. We're looking forward to our return!

George takes good care of his customers

By ShelbyW |

My son got to pick the menu for his graduation party which was also a big family reunion, and when he asked for Spanakopita, his Grandma knew exactly who to contact. My son was beaming when he came home to tell me about meeting with George to plan the menu. George made him feel very special as they crafted a banquet to remember. Every bite was bursting with fresh flavors and got rave reviews from the vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

We Love George!

By thetripchick |

We live in the neighborhood but somehow managed not to make it in to try Gorgeous George's until this evening. Boy, we had no idea what we were missing! Our group of three walked in at around 6PM this evening and the place was pretty empty...there was one other table of two and another table of four. We were immediately drawn to the man in the chef's coat and hat, who was enjoying talking with the table of four. We sat down at our table for three and perused the menu...it offered some of the standard Mediterranean fare, but with some other yummy-sounding offerings. We ordered a bottle of wine and soon after a plate of hummus and pita arrived. The hummus was silky and delicious and the pita was warm and soft. When we placed our order, I had decided upon the Mediterranean chicken but George let me know that Grandma's chicken was even better. He explained the seasonings and details of the dish, letting us know that it was an amazing recipe from his grandmother who lived to be 115 years old. I changed my order and am very glad that I did! Grandma's chicken was impeccably spiced and was so wonderfully cooked that the meat practically fell off the bone. The garlicky dollop of sauce atop the chicken was amazing, and I also had the reassurance that no vampires would be accosting me on our walk home that evening. Powerful garlic, but goooooooooood. My toughest moments during our meal were deciding to dip my chicken morsel into the garlic sauce or the tzatziki sauce, which also came with the dish. I ended up vacillating throughout the entire meal and was happy as a clam doing so. We finished our meals and while we were absolutely stuffed, we couldn't resist when George asked us about dessert. Knowing that he hadn't steered us wrong in the chicken recommendation, we asked him which dessert he liked best. No question, it was the baklava. I have tried baklava several times in several different places and haven't come across one that I really enjoyed. George's baklava is now my favorite! It was delicately spiced and topped with crushed pistachios....and it was stuffed to the gills with wonderful walnut filling. The baklava was a perfect end to a wonderful meal....we'll be back again very soon! George's place is a gem.

Deliciously different

By LaTzigane |

This is a cozy place and feels like a place run by family. The menu wasn’t extremely diverse but everything we tried was excellent. The dishes aren’t fussy, but they seem to each have a little something extraordinary, like the salad dressing or tahini (on perfectly tender cauliflower), that was new or different. We left fatter and happier than when we arrived!

Best Mediterranean Food in Town

By Radhakrishnan R |

A Peaceful, Friendly, Family type Restaurant serving authentic Mediterranean food in the Seattle area. The place is small related to the guests waiting for a place to sit the cozy atmosphere. Their quality, quantity and taste of food are outstanding. An evening to rest after a hard days stressful work life is this place I recommend in Seattle. My suggestion is to reserve a place before you go for the lovely food.

Good Food

Went with a friend for dinner. The place is small. The food was DELICIOUS!!! I got filet migon with shrimp and rice. Our waiter had only been there a month and was slow in taking our order, but other then that it was a great meal. Go if you get a chance.

Absolutely delicious!

By 5420JM |

We regularly take a trip to this area of Seattle and stop here at Gorgeous George's Resturant. It is absolutely delicious. We are vegetarian/ vegan and find lots of delicious choices. The favors are truly integrated. Favorites include the lentil soup, fattoush and tabouleh salads, falafals, babaghanouje, and zahara. The pita's and tahini are delicious, too. You won't be disappointed here!

Great neighborhood Greek restaurant

By Mike P |

Love Gorgeous George's. Good place for couples and groups of adults. Not the largest place, maybe 10-12 tables, so not somewhere I would take many kids. Anyway, back to all the many of the pros. Food is delicious, hummus is fantastic, I like their tangy dressing on the house salads, and then entree wise I like the combo platter b/c lamb, beef and chicken are all great choices. Portions are generous and I can't comment on dessert, b/c I am always too full to indulge. The owner is recently married, he's a great guy and has a good spirit. I wish the best for this place, and I've been 10-15 times over the last 3-4 years. It's not inexpensive, so know it'll cost a little more than the Gyro place at the mall. But it's well worth it in my opinion.

Visting Seattle - Don't miss Gorgeous George's

By mbalin |

George and his wife Rula made a party for 10 of us on Sunday. We celebrated a birthday, a graduation, and Hannukah. (Yes, George was AOK with our lighting a menorah.)George helped me to make a menu in advance. We had mezze and then a selection of entrees - salmon, chicken, kefta kebab. As the mezze dishes poured out of the kitchen one by one, my family ooo'd and aahh'd. Each dish was more delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared than the last. We loved George's hummus. His spinach pie was divine. My daughters, sister, brother, in-laws, all raved about the salad dressing. People who had never liked tabbouleh scarfed it down. By the time we got to the last mezze, a superb cauliflower in tahini sauce, no one could eat another bite. But wait - there were entrees and dessert. George gave us plenty of time between courses. And at dessert we celebrated a birthday by singing in English and listening to the birthday song in Arabic. George graced us with his bottle-on-the-head routine and we all clapped and stomped. What a superb feast! Thank you George and Rula!!

Like being in Jerusalem...

By John F |

...or Lebanon or Palestine or any number of little rooms of joy in the Levant. From the Nazareth appetizers that present the little dishes appear on the table all over the Holy Land (fresh parsley and just enough mint in the tabouli, an Egyptian style falafal, stuffed grapeleaves, pickled baby eggplant and brilliantly balanced hummus) to tender lamb shwarma and succulent shish tawook (a style of chicken kabob), our little table of friends who have spent enough time in Israel and Palestine to be knowledgeable was, indeed, delighted and will most certainly be back! Even the little cup of spinach soup that could easily have been an unspectacular afterthought was prepared with attentive care to draw out wonderful flavors. The only possible suggestion might be to point out that as lovely as George is, it is the baklava that is actually gorgeous (although we totally get that the place is named as perfectly as the food and service are at this tiny little corner of heaven).

Service

By joenuber |

I had a combo platter and it was great (except for the asparagus, which I don't eat). It was so much food I had to take some home to eat the next day. It was still good.

Fun neighborhood restaurant

By Eleanor B |

I had no idea Gorgeous George's existed, until I walked a long ways on Greenwood Ave. N., after leaving my car at a shop to have some work done. As I walked, I saw up close many businesses that I wouldn't normally see while driving. One of those was Gorgeous George's Restaurant. I peered into the window and thought it looked like a very inviting small place that I would like to have dinner at. When I got home I read all the good reviews on trip advisor and told my husband I wanted to go there for my birthday. We did just that and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the friendliness of the people who work there. We recently returned again, with my sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting from out of town. Again the food was great and we enjoyed the people. Gorgeous George's is my new favorite restaurant.

Tasty, small neighborhood restaurant

By NW748 |

We decided to give Gorgeous George's a try after looking for a Mediterranean restaurant in the area and seeing this one online. We are glad we gave it a try. It is a small corner restaurant with not many tables, which makes it homey, but the tables are very close to each other- some line the very narrow passage to the bathroom, some are right next to the door, and although we had a table in the main area we were so close to the people next to us it felt like we were dining with them. They serve freshly flavored ice water which was tasty. The hummus and pita were delicious, the hummus was so smooth and creamy. I ordered the falafel which was nice and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma which was good and had a nice sauce on it. There was a large dinner party there which made it pretty loud, but it looked like they were having an enjoyable specially prepared meal for them. The waitress was friendly and the chef was so nice to come out and say hello and thank us for coming. The only down side of this place is that it was freezing cold in there! It felt like maybe they don't turn on the heat. I was glad I ordered the soup (which was a pumpkin soup and it was delicious) because it helped to slightly warm me up. We would come back here again if in the area.

Fantastic food and attentive staff...

By Robert S |

The food is wonderful, the aroma and taste quickly reminded me of our trip to Israel and our meals in Jaffa and Jerusalem. The portions are very generous so we had the leftovers for lunch the next day. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. Our waitress, although new to her job, was excellent and took great care of us with the help of the owners. It is a small place which made the experience even better as we got to know the owners.

Best Mediterranean Food, Friendly and Romantic

By Von S |

This is one of the first places we visited when we moved to the area and it still is one of our favorites. George always greats everyone with a big hello and as you leave, he makes sure to thank you. We love the food, have never been disappointed and love to take company here. It is a perfect date night destination. The dining room is small and romantic; service attentive without being overbearing. Portions leave you with something tasty to take home and enjoy again.

Great food in a cramped space

By usertippy |

The food out here is delicious, no doubt. Obviously a lot of care is taken in food preparation as well as presentation. The service is quick and courteous. The only drawback is that the space is way too cramped, and on weekends it tends to get very crowded. Other than that, it is worth a visit!

OUTSTANDING!!

By Neal S |

We have eaten here before and always enjoyed the food and environment, but it had been a while. We were not sorry that this was our choice for a Saturday night dinner. We made reservations, because the restaurant is small (tables for about 30 people). We ordered 4 different dishes (Prawns, steak, chicken shawarma, and lamb shawarma) All were excellent and flavorful. The Steak and Lamb were very tender. The Shawarmas were excellent, flavorful, tasty, and large portions. The Tiger Shrimp was excellent and, again, a large portion. Service was excellent and George was out greeting and talking to his guests. Very nice touch. Do not bypass this restaurant.

Mediterranean food at it's best!

By exskinman2017 |

In the past I have dined at Cicchetti in Seattle for Mediterranean food but recently came upon Gorgeous George's since the food and service at Cicchetti has changed over the years, The 2.5 percent surcharge to the bill there which was recently instituted was a quiet way of increasing their already high prices. As a foodie who is always looking for authentic regional dishes, I am often disappointed in my choices of these restaurants. That wasn't my experience at Gorgeous George's. There is a small dining room with a single server who was working when my group was there. The owner/chef grew up in the Mediterranean and served "down home" dishes. He's had this restaurant for many years. There's nothing fancy in the small menu and the restaurant is certainly not fancy even though it's a clean and quiet place to dine in. I had the marinated roast chicken dish (grandmother's recipe) and one of my party had the marinated lamb chops. I looked at her plate and saw five lamb chops placed on top of the underlying vegetables. All our plates had very large servings. Not only was the food excellent but so was the service. My chicken, by the way was great. Give it a try. It's real down home cooking, the real thing. If you want "fancy" it may not be for you. Look at the other reviews for Gorgeous George's on Trip Advisor.

Friendly Service, Good/Average Food

By JimF |

Just had a take away lunch special for $8.50. Food was ready to go when I arrived. Service was great and the atmosphere was quaint and cozy...almost wished I had time to sit down. When I got back and ate...food was excellent and proportions were generous. Overall, Georgeous.

Great meat, great salad

Salat dressing was wonderful. Quick service. Cozy neighborhood atmosphere. Great Pilsner from Lebanon. Will come again.

Fabulous!

By SeattleJulia |

This place is a hit! I've introduced several friends to it since discovering it myself, and it's all on our top 5 list of Seattle restaurants. If you are looking for a fun, cozy evening out, this is the place. It's tiny, but George makes it fun whether you are having a romantic evening with your significant other, or out with a small group of friends (4 of us go often and are treated like royalty). The wine list is reasonably priced and the food portions are enormous- could share, by why bother when it's so yummy? My favorite dish is the chicken kabob- the best I've ever had! I'm salivating right now.

Wonderful welcoming owners, great food!

By Timothy B |

On a cold Tuesday night (39F) we were looking for comfort food and had a great meal here. George cooked a perfect rack of lamb for my wife and I (portions are generous; the lamb plate includes 8 ribs so we split), and our son really enjoyed George's combo plate (with enough for lunch tomorrow). Excellent food, great service and atmosphere!

A delightful experience, all-around

By Capybara22 |

I second all the positive things others have already said. It's a small, cozy restaurant, and the owners are really the sweetest people ever. The salad was robust and flavorful, the mezze platter was excellent, and my husband greatly enjoyed George's Chicken (Grandma's Old Recipe). I look forward to returning for more delicious food in the near future.

Not worth the money.

We ordered the appetizer sampler as well as dinner which comes with soup or salad (we selected salad). The salad was family style and far too much for 2 people. I guess better to have larger portions than too small. The apps were decent-some quite good, some not very tasty. Again, portions were way to big for a starter. The salad was really good. The dinners arrived - lamb chops and the kebab combo (steak, chicken, ground beef). Each dish had a wholloping dollop of crushed garlic on it. You could scrape most of it off if you didn't want it - which we both did. The lamb chops were poor quality meat (George should buy them from Costco, we do & they are great). The steak kebab was overcooked, the chicken ok and the ground beef was pretty flavorless. We decided to have coffee & baklava which turned out to be great. However, at over $120 for the meal including 2 glasses of wine & 1 beer, we won't return & I wouldn't recommend going just for the coffee & dessert. I should mention that the first glass of wine we received tasted like the dregs of the bottle and had a huge piece of cork in it. We sent it back and the next 2 glasses were better. The restaurant is also very small with many tables close together. Cozy? No, cramped! The staff were very nice and service was good, we were one of 3 tables on a Saturday night.

Great variety of food, interesting wine

Three of us had dinner here and all the food was very good. We had the appetizer platter and individual entrées. I recommend the grilled lamb chops. We also had a bottle of Lebanese red wine, which was also very good. Service was excellent. The dining area is small but comfortable. Prices are on the high side but maybe normal for Seattle. I would recommend it.

Excellent food, Excellent service!

We looked for an excellent restaurant near the Taproot Theater with excellent gourmet food and quiet inmate ambiance, Goregeous George's had it all. We enjoy vegetarian food, George's had several options. The service was very attentive but did not hover. One of the most delicious Mediterranean/ Greek restaurants we've been to. We'll definitely be going back.

WOW, excellent food!!!

The food here is very very good. The owner is from Israel, and all the food is top-notch! Even the water is infused with fruit and herbs!

Excellent mediterrean food

Gorgeous George's has excellent food! Try the baklava at the end of your dinner, it is a don't miss. Make reservations so you are not next to the door. If you are going with more than two people, call ahead. It is a small restaurant. It is also periodically closed during the summer, so make sure you check the website and/or call ahead. The falafel was excellent. It also has a decent wine list. My date and I were especially impressed that George came over and spoke with us for a couple of minutes during our meal. He is a very gregarious character. It is also rumored that he has quite the operatic voice. Good date spot. Hard to find free, close parking.

Fun time and fantastic food.

Our server honestly made us feel like family. She brought out things for us to sample and entertained our granddaughter. The food was exotic and portions generous. We all agreed that this place will be revisited!

If you don’t like garlic...

...you can still have a fabulous dinner at this amazing Neighborhood find.Try the whole head of cauliflower-lightly fried and smothered with tahini. Add the freshest possible tabouleh as a salad and a bit of baklava for dessert. George and Rula serve ice water flavored with mint and citrus slices. You will go back many times - and AlaMode is only a couple miles away should you have extra room for pie. Sigh.

This was good enough to...

This was good enough to want to visit again. The portions are HUGE, so sharing is a good idea. The humous was the best I've had outside of Israel and I've heard the baklava is great, but have yet to try it. The mixed grill was very tasty. Tiny space. Worth a try.

Amazingly Gorgeous Gourmet

We entered Gorgous George’s Mediterranean restaurant greeted by the fantastic aroma of spices. The waiter let us choose a wonderful window table & served us basil, lemon & orange infused water. The menu has a great variety of appetizers, salads, seafood, lamb & chicken. The wine list has fantastic choices too. The back of the menu offers the nightly specials. We ordered lamb hummus to start with warm pita bread... yummmm! We then chose 2 entrees, Lamb chops & Shwish twook! The meal started with either a wonderful salad or a bowl of beautiful home made soup, we got one of each to enjoy a taste of both. The food was served piping hot with a beautiful selection of grilled vegetables, a generous portion of med rice & the meal..... amazing!!!! We loved the food, the service and the atmosphere! What a gem of a place!!!! Thank you Gorgeous George’s for a fabulous dining experience!!!

Memorable Birthday

Make the trip to Greenwood to Gorgeous George's. You won't be sorry! Tiny space loaded with community warmth and outstanding home made Mediterranean dishes. Tables are inches apart, so everyone in the restaurant is like family. In a good way! Once the word was out that it was my birthday I was surprised with candles in my backava, and a crazy, loud version of "Happy Birthday" played on a boom box. My neighbor at the next table leaned over to say, "This is one you'll never forget!" So true! I ordered Grandama's recipe chicken, and it was wonderful.

Best this side of Tel Aviv

The best hummus, baba, shish tawook, lamb... everything! Don't miss the garlic sauce on the chicken.

Excellent - highly recommend!

Gorgeous George’s catered our block party for over 150 people. Not only was Gorgeous Georges incredibly generous with the quantity of food they provided, but the quality was FANTASTIC. Each dish, sauce, and dressing was delicious. It was super easy to accommodate eating desires and needs. I highly recommend Gorgeous Georges for catering.

Quaint place on trendy neighborhood

This is a tiny place with about 12 tables. The menu has a good variety of items to take care of just about anyone and the portion sizes are large. I ordered the lamb kabob and had six very large chunks of lamb. Everything was cooked well. I found their food a little tahini heavy for my tastes but that's very minor. I would have preferred a garlic yogurt sauce. The owner, his wife and the wait staff were very friendly and I would recommend them anytime you're in Seattle.

A group dinner of friends

Although Gorgeous George's does not offer regular dine in service, they DO take reservations for in house private dinner parties of 12 to 25 guests as part of their catering services. We were luckily invited to one of these banquets last night. The cozy dining room had tables beautifully adorned with flowers and candles. While George was busy doing his magic in the kitchen, his wife -- and perfect host, Rula, greeted us with beverages, soon followed by many tasty appetizers. We knew from experience to pace ourselves, and save some room for courses to follow. A beautiful salad preceded the main courses of perfectly seasoned salmon, shrimp, filet mignon, lamb and chicken. Each included a paired side like mango baby potatoes, asparagus or multicolor carrots. Just when we thought we couldn't hold another bite, desserts arrived. Tiramisu and baklava, which we somehow found room for. And delicious coffee you would not believe was decaffeinated. If you have a special occasion celebration or small company function to host, George and Rula will make it a banquet to remember!

Nice small restaurant

Went with my family and it was pretty good. Lamb chops were flavorful and tender. Chicken shawarma a little disappointing. Server was nice and pita was fresh!
