Solid breakfast place that is very reasonably priced. I had a generous and tasty breakfast burrito. My wife and daughter opted for club sandwiches from the full menu. Generous sides!

The Great American Diner and Bar offers quite a selection, but I've only ordered breakfast from them. Best breakfast yet: sunny side up eggs, bacon, toast, and diced caramelized potatoes with onions. Not very crispy, the toast could have been browned just a bit more, but everything else about my meal was perfect. With a generous portion of wide, thick, delicious slices of bacon, other than cooking my own potatoes, the caramelization was spot on. Most likely rendered in bacon fat, it may not have been the healthies breakfast, but it certainly was the tastiest!

Had the Chicken wings they were the best .. good service friendly staff and good $$$ value. Will go again but for their breakfast which I hear is excellent as well.

It lives up to its name with delicious and generous American classic meals. Prime rib with baked potato. Joe's Special. Really yummy breakfast sausage. Lots of great omelette selections. Nachos, a HUGE plateful. Prices that are easy to like. Well, the service is excellent and there is plenty of parking within a couple of blocks in the free lots provided by the merchants association. It's kid friendly and if you are not, then don't go on a Friday evening. It can be really noisy! If you are a sports fan, you'll enjoy their five or six big screen TV's. I haven't counted, but there are a LOT of them. We especially like the tables in the window to the right of the entrance. They have a nice view down to Puget Sound. The coffee is good, too. I really like this place. Now I'll probably get my wife to go with me again this weekend. Great American Diner offers a nice contrast to our usual dim sum and ramen fare.

Omg do not go here 1 bad service 2 kitchen have no idea how to cook over medium Go to eat at easy st records This looks like a beautiful better breakfast

Flew from the Midwest into Seattle. This was the first place we went for breakfast. Definitely recommend great service, food, and nearby shops.

Met a friend here for lunch. The atmosphere is bright and clean and the staff quick and friendly. I had breakfast for lunch and had plenty left over to take home for second meal. Prices are reasonable and food quality good. Nothing fancy. Good location, especially for walking from nearby neighborhoods.

This is our family's favorite spot for breakfast and family dinners. The owner Glenn is so welcoming and server Susan is outstanding. The menu is large and varied, so everyone has their choice (pizza, pasta, salads, comfort foods...and those fries!) Great bar with fantastic Bloody Marys and full bar. Highly recommend this neighbor joint!

Ordered drinks that never arrived. The shrimp cocktail was warm and very little celery. Then 2 guys walked from the back of the restaurant with 3 dogs on leashes. We did not wait for our food, paid and left.

Patty melt with no cheese and overcooked beef patties on white bread? Dry and unsatisfying.. The wait staff was good considering we were the only folks there at the time.i can't understand the good reviews here. Not willing to return.

if you want american breakfast or lunch or dinner, this place is exactly like what the name of the restaurant implies.

I've been to the Great American Diner at least six times in the past several months. The food is always very good, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food that is provided. The Owner, Glen, is there to welcome you with open arms and a warm smile. James makes a good beverage to your specifications. I usually get the eggs benedict, even at night. My friends recently had the pot roast and pasta with salmon, prawns, and scallops. We all went away very satisfied. I hope you'll try the Great American Diner and Bar the next time you are in West Seattle, Washington. I think you'll like it.

I wasn't sure whether to leave a 2- or a 3- star review... If it was based on my meal only, I would leave two stars, only because the coffee was good and my orange juice was DELICIOUS. We were in Seattle for a weekend of baseball, and wanted to grab some breakfast before heading downtown. The diner was pretty busy, and the service was as good as can be expected. My boyfriend ordered chicken fried steak with eggs, hash browns, and biscuits. He raved about it (that's why I left the third star). I ordered eggs benny with fruit and the eggs poached hard (I know, I know, but I HATE very runny eggs). When our meals came, the eggs were poached very soft, so I sent it back. Not even two minutes later, someone returned with a different (I think? Maybe not...) plate of food, saying that someone had accidentally given me someone else's breakfast. That's cool, I get it. On this plate, one of the eggs was still running all over the plate, and the other one had clearly broken while being cooked, so there was no yolk except a bit of fluff mixed in with the hollandaise. The ham was very thick with a huge piece of fat on one of the slices. It was gross. I ate around what I could because at this point, we would be late for the baseball game if I sent it back again. When the server took my almost full plate away, she didn't ask if anything was wrong with it. Super disappointed, because it cost 15 dollars and I never leave lousy reviews. I wouldn't go back.

They have a great and reasonable Happy Hour menu, including truely outstanding hamburgers. The only problem was one day they said we could not order from the menu, unless we purchased drinks. It did not say this anywhere on signs or menu.Food id great howver and worth tghe extra mdrink charge, if we had known ahead..

I stumbled into this place, mistaking it for some other place, I was so hungry I didn’t care. We were sat immediately, our first time here, we found the menu to be abundant. Ordered the onion rings as an app, they were good, I had the onion and cheddar burger, which was equally as good, the meat patty was very fresh including the bun, the fries are double fried and crispy. Service was great!

Best restaurant of our trip. The service was excellent, the food was great. They had TVs, and asked our kids what they wanted to watch. When our kids asked about being able to hear the movie, they let us know that TV could not do sound based on their set up, but they had a different table with a TV they could watch at. This kept them happy and gave the adults a small break. It's really nice when away from home to find a great place like this with great food and good prices with good service. The trifecta. Most of the time you have to pick two and sacrifice the last one, this restaurant has it all.

A variety of food choices, mostly American comfort food. Very friendly people, good prices, nice comfortable place to eat.

If you drive, you must find parking in the area. There are pay-to-park lots available and some street parking. The restaurant is family style. It does have full bar service and a couple of televisions. My server was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. My breakfast was excellent.

Friendly service and good food at a reasonable price. I especially love the fish and chips and the Southwestern chicken salad. The way they package it for mess-free delivery is really clever.

Where the locals eat and they are right. Dinner choices for all tastes. Reasonably priced good home cooked food. Family owned.

This is a good place to take children--they have books for them and the service is quick. The sandwiches are very good.

We have only eaten breakfast there couple times and both of our visits have been fantastic! Great West Seattle Diner!

Delicious breakfast, pancakes and bacon. Coffee was good and plentiful. Staff were lovely and attentive when. needed.

To be honest I can’t remember all the dishes we ordered and shared but there wasn’t a bad item in the bunch - service was impeccable and the only glitch was that the bartender didn’t know how to make a mai-tai :) so if you are up for an adventure where you will be treated right, come here ;)

This is our second visit and we really like this place. Good food, salads are wonderful, they accommodate dietary restrictions and the atmosphere is quieter and comfortable. If you have not been you should!

This is a new restaurant. Service was slow. Food was good. Friend and I ordered breakfast. I had the pancake special which included bacon, pancakes, and a biscuit(?). The pancakes were delicious, light and fluffy. They were served with warm maple syrup and butter. Not the usual cold syrup with rock hard butter.A lot of bacon but not very flavorful. Had to ask for biscuit but I was glad I did. It was heaven. It was melt in your mouth good. My friend had the French toast. Big serving, bread was good but bland. This restaurant has a full bar and serves brunch. I will be coming back to try sandwiches.

My sister, mom and I really like coming here. The atmosphere is really nice, like a comfortable diner from the past. The food is of good quality (bread from Macarina!). The prices on food and cocktails are more than reasonable, especially for this location in the West Seattle Junction. The best part is the owner (manager?), he's a kindly man who is always welcoming and so accommodating. Highly recommend this place.

Great service, food and ambience. Upscale diner with great breakfast and varied dinner menu. And great priced.

A relatively new restaurant (3 months?) on California Avenue in fast growing West Seattle. One of its kind, no fuss, comfort food restaurant. I said "one of its kind" because it is challenging to find a restaurant in Seattle these days that serves tasty, wholesome Americana cuisine. Great American Diner is no fuss, no muss. There needs not any explanations on the menu - straight forward, familiar ingredients, very reasonably priced, and the food tastes very good. An important note is that the food doesn't sit in a pool of grease like you would think from a "diner." I like it so much, in fact, that I went there three times in one month to try different items: brunch, lunch, and happy hour/dinner. There is one common issue all three times: staffing (which led to wait time at the table). We were seated immediately all three times, but the wait ranged between 10-15 minutes before a wait person would bring us water or take our drink order. I chalked up the wait time as the restaurant is still relatively new and still working on fine-tuning details? The servers, however, are very attentive and friendly. Regardless, the wait time needs to be addressed. The restaurant has ample large-screened TVs and would be a fantastic place to watch any sport events. Expect a full bar and comfort food such as roast turkey dinner (really good) with homemade stuffing and cranberry sauce, homemade mac and cheese, fish 'n chips, chicken tenders, etc. Generous portion at reasonable prices. I really want this restaurant to succeed (there had been numerous failed restaurants at the same location in the past few years). If I rate the food alone it would be a 4 or even 5. We need a good, diner-type restaurants that serves excellent comfort food in West Seattle. I hope this is it.

Very good place to grab a meal. They have large portions, that leave you stuffed. The food was really good and service was impeccable. Our server was very personable and friendly. She made conversation with us and offered her recommendations. The owner came by to check on us and talk with us. Very friendly group. We would eat here again!

I had a very good omelet, coffee and the service was considerate and pleasant. Recommend for a relaxing early morning breakfast.

From the outside this place looks like a dive bar/diner. We just wanted some breakfast so thought we would try it, because diners are known for good breakfast! We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to find a completely remodeled inside. We chose to sit up at the bar so we could watch the college football game. They do have 3 tv's above the bar. We split a 4 egg omelette. I had coffee, he had fresh orange juice. The staff was quick & kept my coffee hot too. It is not a cheap place to eat, but it was good. They didn't mind that we sat to watch the game for quite some time. We enjoyed our experience & actually came back the next day to watch the NFL game. It was much busier Sunday morning & service was slower but not too bad. Just keep that in mind if showing up on a busy morning.

An upscale diner with comfortable booths and tables, a bit of a buzz, friendly staff, and a welcoming proprietor. Good for sandwiches, soups, salads and had a range of pastas and heavier meals if you want. Decent bar service, and never felt rushed. Lots of TVs, perhaps too many for my taste but you can position yourself strategically to avoid. Wide range of ages and had signs up that they have occasional live music.
Good Food and Drink for Happy Hour
Stopped in had a Happy Hour Nachos and Cosmo- both were good even if though the Guacamole was store-bought. I would give it a try!
