I had the gyro and my husband has a combination plate with lamb. We had soup and bread to start. It was fantastic! We will go back again.

The best Greek food I have had outside of my Aunt’s kitchen. I am Greek and I wanted to order everything on the menu and I think we just about did. Authentic Greek food and delicious. Great service.

I am lucky enough to get to travel often to many places, and Greek food is some of my favorite. I have yet to eat at a restaurant that rivals Greek Islands. I hate eating by myself, but the food is so good that I still had a fantastic meal despite dining solo. The saganaki is a must! I’ve had this dish at a half-dozen other places, and no one does it better than here! The combo I ordered had perfectly balanced spanakopita and some of the most tender, well-seasoned lamb I’ve had. The galaktobouriko was a bit firmer than I am used to, but it was still delicious. The prices here are very reasonable, and the servers were friendly and welcoming. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

We have dined here in the past and looked forward to this visit. It started out with the unfriendly host trying to seat us at tables with bad locations. When I asked about a better table in the center of the room I was told they were reserved. I had called earlier about making a reservation and was told they didn’t accept them. Our waiter wasn’t friendly and didn’t make eye contact. The food was served from a buffet even though we ordered from the menu. Potatoes where clumped together and other items were barely warm. Food tasted like reheated left overs. Bad overall experience for over a hundred dollars for three people with no alcohol included. Will never go back.

A Lyft driver gave me this recommendation. It was way out of my way and worth it! I got flambayed cheese and a feta salad. Bread was great.

Fantastic food. The Saganaki was amazing. I had the rack of lamb, it was great. Would definetly go agai.

Wanted a good dinner we could get into after a Sunday matinee theatre. Quick Uber over, with the intent of trying our Greek Islands, but planning to hit one of the close by bars for a before dinner drink if it would be a long wait. Went in and we were seated immediately. Great vibe, lots of noise, everyone having a good time. The service was fun and very attentive, the food was amazing. started with fried zuchini, then Pastichio coupled with spit roasted pork was great, my wife's soup was just wonderful, her Greek salad also flawless. Even with drinks and tip it was under $100. Would go back for sure

The restaurant is much bigger than it appears from outside, and inside it hums with life. I had the dolmades, my favourite Greek dish, which were okay. The vine leaves were tough and sauce not overly lemony. I’ll stick to Maria’s in Sidney. My friend’s dinner looked (and she said was) really good. Service was also okay. Sensed some tension between some of the staff - all we needed was salt and pepper, which caused grumbling. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, personally.

If you are looking for an amazing, delicious experience this is the place! We were treated like family, everything was so good, the service was outstanding! 20 of us celebrated me being done with chemotherapy and we could not have asked for a better experience!! So thankful for Greek Islands!!

My son took us here while visiting him in Chicago.Free valet parking, just TIP. Popular Greek Restaurant in Chicago. Very busy with a large well trained staff. Food very tasty. Some staff Greek but not many. We will be back the next time in Chicago.

We loved our dinner at Greek Islands! Everything was delicious from the bread and olive oil to the lamb and chicken entrees. Friendly staff and festive atmosphere livened up our evening! We'll go back on our next visit to the area!

For the great Trip Advisor reviews, I was very disappointed with the food. At 7:00 they were out of the Sunday special. The pork chops were dry. The artichoke appetizer had more potatoes than artichokes. The thick sauce was too heavy for the delicate artichoke taste to come through.

Had a fantastic business dinner, one of the best Greek dinners I have ever had, excellent service, food was amazing, from the appetizers to main courses and desserts. Location very nice, typical

My family and friends love this place! The food and ambiance are amazing. The price is good. Best saganaki and mousaka in the city.

Great atmosphere and service! Typical big city prices but well worth it! Food was great and so many choices! Will be enjoying dinner there again

Within a very busy restaurant we were seated at a quiet table in a corner of the restaurant. The menu was extensive and our food choices proved to be excellent - brilliantly cooked and presented dishes, more than ample portions, and lovely tastes of Greece. With attentive and friendly service, we enjoyed a great evening.

I always go to Greektown when in Chicago. Greek Islands never disappoints. We had a Family Style meal. A Great Value!!! Spanakopita, Saganaki, Roast Lamb, Pasticcio, Eggplant spread, Greek Salad, Meatballs, Vegetable Medley, including Baklava and Coffee all for $28.95. I also like the Octopus and any Lamb dish is great. I had a glass of Retsina. Lovely.

The lamb my husband and I shared was fabulous as was the salad and appetizer. We were visiting relatives and this is one of their favorite restaurants. We know why. On top of the delicious, perfectly cooked meal, the service was extraordinary. And, we could carry on a conversation because the noise level was manageable despite its being busy.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 35 years and it never disappoints. Just my opinion but it is the best restaurant in Chicago bar none! Great Greek food and lively atmosphere. Service is outstanding!!

The food and service were good. Wee had the lamb chops and the fish skewer and both tasted great. This is a large, busy restaurant.

Went on a super crowded day, unaware that taste of Greektown was going on. After waiting a bit we got our seats and everything went perfect even though the restaurant was busy. Price is fair for chicago standards imo.

Have visited many times with family. Took a colleague and she loved it as much as I do. Authentic, quality, great vibe. It’s a bustling place yet we had no issue conversing. Go!

I have lived in this city for 68 years. And also part time in California. I always looked forward to having greeek food either being delivered or dining in. Everything I had other than the chicken was awful. Awful. And I love this place so much. What happened to it? So disappointed. I threw most of it out. Greek Islands, this is the last time for me.

Remember coming here many years ago and still the same vibe. Mousaka and roast lamb my favorites. great selection of appetizers. Friendly service. Enjoyed every bit

I love Greek food and this place did not disappoint. I always order saganaki (cheese on fire ) in Greek restaurants and this place serves them perfectly too. Salad and souvlakis are also delicious. We will definitely go back here or invite other people to try the place anytime.

They had such great appetizers I almost could not eat my lunch! All the food is great and if you have never eater here before I would recommend the saganaki for your appetizer. It is flaming cheese and tastes great, have to get it every time I cone here.

5 of us came at 6:30 Friday night without reservations and they seated us right away. The food and service once again was wonderful and delicious. And that's why we always keep coming back.

Grape leaves a must feta fresh I had a meal of apps. Must say server was pushy and not friendly. Greek town is being taken over by yuppies and corporate types. More of a tourist attraction than original food

We had a mediocre lunch at Greek islands. The food was mediocre but reasonably priced. The wine was inexpensive. The waiters were also mediocre. The restaurant is huge so there was no waiting. The decor is OK. The valet parking is free. The location is excellent at Adams and Halsted.

Greek food in Chicago was new to me but I was taken here by friends and it didn’t disappoint. I could see it would be a Chicago institution. A little tired around the edges but the place buzzes, the food is good, the service is Greek and everything works except the Moussaka and the coffee..now you might think that a Greek restaurant to not make a good Moussaka is unforgivable. Well it wasn’t that bad, just not great. I enjoyed the experience and I can believe it’s title of best Greek restaurant in Chicago.

My husband and I started coming to Greek Islands nearly forty years ago, and the amazing thing is that some of the restaurant staff have worked there longer than we've been coming. This is a bustling place with attentive service and fresh, delicious food. From traditional Greek foods like Dolmades and Mousaka to lamb dishes, kebobs, and fish flown in from Greece, the extensive menu has something for everyone. We introduced our children and now grandchildren to calamari and grilled octopus. Saganaki (fire cheese!) and fried zucchini are favorite appetizers, and the avgolemono soup is always satisfying. Prices, for a downtown destination, are reasonable, and parking is free. For Chicago natives or tourists, Greek Islands deserves a visit. For us, it's turned into a very long relationship!

Such a great experience during Greek week too! The street was very festive. I had the Homemade Gyros which were fenomenal! Definitely recommend this gem if you’re visiting, especially because Chicago has a big Greek population.

Amazing from the time you are greeted at the door til you are thanked as you walk out. The food was so hard to decide on. So much variety but our wonderful servers made suggestions that were perfect. Really had eaten too much already but how can you turn down desserts made in house? Only in town for a few days but thinking I may have to go back again before I leave.

Great authentic Greek food, nice atmosphere and very good service. Always look forward to stopping here while in Chicago.

Maybe our server was just having a bad day but I just felt he didn’t like me from the start which I rarely experience. The food however was delicious and authentic! The restaurant itself looks like a franchise but it is anything but! Give this place a try they know what they are doing!! The gyros were so incredibly tasty and the meat and pita bread were to die for! The tomatos and other vegetables were fresh and delicious!

Excellent though pricy. Will be a favorite. Would go back again. Long impressive menue. My group ordered 5 different dishes and all were wonderful. Very nice atmosphere as well. Fast valet parking.

I really really loved this place. Food was fresh and delicious,Everything was delicious from the bread and olive oil to the lamb and chicken entrees.Friendly staff and festive atmosphere livened up our evening! Authentic, quality, great vibe.We were really happy finding this restaurant, the servers were pleasant.well-served and excellent food.We always eat here when we visit Chicago.

They do everything right here. Sure, food comes fast and you get the sense they want to turn the tables. That’s ok since they bring you so much food you can’t eat anything any longer anyway. It’s an iconic restaurant for a reason and they delivered on their promises that night. Food was fantastic. Service was impeccable. Flaming cheese of course was a big hit. Wish we had saved room for dessert.

We had a wonderful time at the Greek Islands Restuarant. The food was outstanding! The staff was knowledgeable.and friendly. If we were unsure of the item on the menu, the server was there to help describe the dish. Take home what you can't eat, but make sure you save space for dessert. The baklava is not to be missed.

We went there after a concert, online hours says it’s open til 1:00 a.m. but it was closed before midnight.

Flavorful moussaka and souvlaki. The tzatziki was perfect, and the service was attentive. A cozy atmosphere, though it can get crowded.

I am very picky about the Greek food that I eat. Chicago has a large Greek town. This restaurant stands out for it's food and service. My waiter was from Greece which added to the experience,

Our favorite for Greek Food. Started with Saganaki, and wine.Greek salad, Greek bread, & Moussaka, vegetarian, & Greek Chicken outstanding. Warm surroundings with the best servers around. Full menu, Full Bar, and delicious desserts. Highly recommended.

Dinner was delicious. Saganaki was a treat! Lamb chops best ever! The spanakopita was very tasty and appetizers were plentiful for the six of us. My grandson had roasted lamb with spaghetti plate which was enough for two people. Servings on all plates were very generous. Valet parking was appreciated.

Had the opportunity to try this place while in the Chicago area for a funeral. The service was superb, and the food was better. BEST octopus I ever ate!

Loved our meal, atmosphere and everything about this restaurant! It's authentic and even in the dead of winter snow, we felt transported. Our waiter was fantastic and every dish we tried was truly amazing. The eggplant! YUM!

Went to this place on Thur evening got seated right away service and food was excellent ! And plentiful sharing is the ticket We will return

Large restaurant in Greek town that is always bustling. Efficient wait service with excellent food choices and variety. Love the grilled octopus...as well as the many appetizers, like hummus, beets, etc. Easily able to share with the large portions. Nice valet parking....Authentic Greek restaurant that beckons a return trip soon. Very well priced....

This restaurant is huge, and the service and food are very good. So it’s a great place to have a business lunch. There’s no rush to turn over the table, and fresh coffee and soft drink refills keep coming. I had s very tasty salmon dish. My colleagues had chicken and salads. We all enjoyed our lunch here.

A throwback feel to Greek restaurants from decades ago. Laughter, great food and friendly hosts make this a place to come back to over and over again. We forgot how much we love skordalia …seems like a crazy thing to forget.

What’s not to love about Greek Islands? If you can’t get on a plane and actually go to the Greek Islands right now, you can re-create the atmosphere at this wonderful restaurant. They are family-friendly and have a huge variety of delicious Greek food. Try the grilled halibut. Some of the best fish I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

I stopped in for my lunch recently with my girlfriend and the service and food left something to be desired. Although there were multiple staff at the check in kiosk, it took them several minutes to acknowledge us and get us seated. Not a big deal but the place was empty as it was a weekday for lunch. We got a great seat outside but again it took almost ten minutes to be seen by our server. We ordered everything all at once since we had so much time to look over the menu. The salad with chicken was not what I was hoping for from a Greek salad. Mine only had one olive! Disappointed after we ate we tried to pay and leave, but again it took forever to find our server to get the bill. We likely will give it another try in the future since the ratings are so high; perhaps just a bad experience.

Atmosphere is fantastic, it's fun to hear the staff speaking Greek, it really helped add to the authentic dinning experience. The staff was amazing! It's great to see the GM & managers working the floor, helping out the staff. Also the food was excellent, I was visiting Chicago, but went w/ family that lives in town and they love the place.

I was excited to try this restaurant after a coworker from Chicago highly recommended this spot. It’s in the heart of Greektown and a quick walk from the OTC station. We came for lunch on a Sunday with no reservations and got seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive but also was quick to ask us what we wanted to order. We’re indecisive so she came back a couple of times even before we were ready but at least the service was on top of it. Our waitress was bit pushy in trying to upsell and get us to get more food but it wasn’t that bad. The servers made sure we always had water and they also brought out bread with butter quickly. We got the spartan chicken, combination plate, and the seafood kebab. The spartan chicken comes with five pieces of chicken with rice or veggies in the side. The chicken was well seasoned and tender and the rice reminded me of a rice pilaf stew minus the broth given how moist it was (~$14). The kebabs similarly well seasoned and comes with veggies or rice on the side (~$22). The salmon was a touch dry but when you eat it with the bell peppers (which had a nice char on the outside) the moisture from the vegetables balances it out. I had the combination plate (~$19) which I liked best, although I would suggest splitting it between two people. The dolmade was my favorite part and came stuffed with meat and had a white sauce on the top. The moussaka reminded me of a Greek lasagna and the sauce spilled over to touching the other food items, so if you’re picky about mixing your flavors, just be aware of that. The lamb slices came in four and were my second favorite part. It was sliced thinly and flavorful. There were also vegetables and one meatball which I liked. The vegetables were very soft and marinated in a tomato based sauce. When we finished, we were all very full. I would recommend coming here for a lunch with a group and splitting dishes to share. There’s also a family style option for $25 where you can have a set menu although you best be hungry if you choose that option. There is free valet parking and there were a lot of tables. Overall a fun authentic Greek restaurant with tasty food.

Wow. From the fresh bread served with choice of butter or Olive Oil, through appetizers and main course, this is a place for feast with relative "value" pricing. (Our meal, with 2 glasses of wine, and Greek Coffee, and tip, came out at $75.00 for two! Saganiki? Opaaaa! Domades and a Lamb dish make for superb dining after a full day of travel from Pennsylvania to Illlinois. Can't recommend this place highly enough. The staff HUSTLES but are as attentive as they can be given the serving load.

Very good food, good service. Not super expensive. Over all very good experience. Not far from the downtown area and Michigan Ave. area. Grab an Uber and enjoy!

Asked a friend where is the most authentic local Greek spot in Chicago and he didn’t steer me wrong. The food was so good I went twice during my weekend stay in Chicago. Very busy place both times I went (lunch) but no lack of service. On Sunday they have a special I had to come back for and it didn’t disappoint (youvetsi). I was in Greek comfort food heaven. I wish I could have eaten there more during my visit.

Truly Greek food with many menu items, I very much enjoy the lamb, calamari, and vegetable dishes. Waiters are very professional and attentive. Valet parking is seamless. Well run and very reasonably priced.

I ate here last night and it met my expectations and then some. The menu is large and I loved the veg items. I had a combo platter of veg moussake and spanakopita. It had a small potato log that was tender and tasty. I had a side of okra that was very tender and swimming in an olive oil sauce. There are many Greek wines and I loved the two I had. I also had a Greek "spirit" that was tasty and ended with a huge baklava. The waitress was very kind and helpful. Even with a good tip, I paid $78. The place was very busy, which is a good sign of success. The next time I come to town, I will eat here for sure.

Fantastic- authentic amazing food. VERY reasonable prices. Big enough menu for everyone to enjoy.

We went on a Friday night and I recommend this place as I have been often and love the food and service. None of my friends had been before. Well I wish I had never suggested this restaurant. First the sit us in one part of the restaurant and we get out drinks, bread and appetizers and are enjoying when the manager comes over and says they need to move us as a large party just came in...says “I’ll treat you guys to something for the inconvenience” we’ll that never happened, actually we had issues with the check as they had it all screwed up. When we finally were sat at another table they took 10 minutes to bring our appetizers which were now cold and they were rude when we asked to have new ones brought. The new waiter was slow and we had to flag him down to get drink refills, 45 minutes later we get our dinners which were all good as they normally are. We go to pay and the check is messed up when they finally get that right was all pay, I pay with cash and tell the waiter to keep the change the others use a card. As we are leaving the manager says he’ll give us something “next time”...whatever, you’re lying again. As we are waiting for the valet to get the vehicle the waited cost Es our and starts to make a scene holding up three receipts signed and telling me I need to pay...we all say he paid cash and he says “oh” and walks back in no “I am sorry”. I will not be back anytime soon as the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth and the dinner was ruined by the extremely poor service.

I have been going to Greek Islands for over 30 years - always after the Opera or theater. But now they have changed the hours - been told because of "LAZY" management - they want to go home early. Online the hours for Friday and Saturday are 11am to 11pm. Got there 9:50 pm on a Friday night - they were closing the doors. One of the wait staff recognized me and let me in. The desk manager wanted to know why. Pretended he didn't recognize me. So if you're going to dinner - check the hours - they are not correct online. Guessing the reason is management doesn't know how to access the internet to make the changes. I was really pissed that after all the years - when everyone knows me - the manager treated me like crap. It's so sad that a family restaurant treats customers like they are street trash. I still like the food - I still like the staff - but management has to go or get someone in there that actually knows how to treat customers with respect. Visilios was the manager there for years - wow what a great manager. Treated everyone like family. Until Greek Islands changes management - it will never be the same restaurant to me. So go at your own risk - if you like being treated like crap - then by all means - go!

We were in town for business and were craving Greek food so we made our way over by uber to Greek Islands. We were greeting warmly and met our server Lili. She was so nice, friendly and informative. We had not had Greek wine before and she recommended a very nice and inexpensive wine. Our meal consisted of a sampler cold plate, Meat Pie and Spetsofai accompanied by wonderful warm bread. This was all topped off by great coffee, baklava and another dessert. Let's just say that we were "full" and walked the two miles back to our hotel. Opa!

I am sure this place does not need another glowing review but here it is anyway. The food is amazing! The Greek wines too. Then add to the fact that the staff is very hard working and always trying to give you the best dining experience. The best part of all ... it is incredibly reasonable for prices. So far I have had the gyros (yes I know rookie meal), a soup (damn if I can remember) and traditional Anthenian salad. Oh and be sure to have the baklava ... even if it is to-go. This is one of the best restaurants in Chicago in my opinion.

Very authentic food and typically Greek style, plenary of chive and attentive staff. Stumbled across the restaurant whilst roaming the Greek Village area of Chicago.

I first visited here 30 years ago but have not been to Chicago in 10 years so wanted to revisit this restaurant. The food was still delicious, reasonably priced and the service impeccable. Do visit, if you can. A little off the beaten track so jump in a taxi or Uber. You may have to wait a little as bookings for couples not accepted, but worth the wait. A nice bar to sit and chat with the locals if you do have to wait a while.

This is my go to restaurant every time I’m in Chicago. Great for groups or small parties DELICIOUS and authentic Greek cuisine.

Had a group of 4. When checking out they charged two of us for the same appetizer. They “refunded” my whole bill and recharged for my meal. The refund never came, restaurant “couldn’t find” the charges and told me to dispute it with my credit card company. I’m still disputing with my credit card company months later. My $25 meal cost me $60 instead. Will not be back and will not recommend.

This is a nice greek restaurant in Chicago. They have valet parking. Although the capacity is pretty large, there is always a wait time. Be prepared for 15 minutes wait. Better to arrive early for dinner. The menu is quite vast with something to suit each member of the family. If you are not a big eater, you can share a plate also. Must visit when you are in Chicago.

First of all the menu is overwhelming! So many appetizers, soups, salad and entrees, it will take you 10 minutes just to read it all. My wife and I went with two fish selections. The Mediterranean Salmon and the baked Cod. We are coming back!

Great barbecued lamb, excellent potatoes, tasty salad, good saganiki and octopus. Very good greek chicken, stuffed grape leaves and spinach with feta. Soso deserts.

This was our first time to Greek Islands restaurant and we enjoyed it. We started with Skordalia, a potato and garlic spread. It was delicious. It's similar to hummus but fluffier. For entrees I had the Kotopita which is shredded chicken and feta with spices wrapped in phyllo. It was perfect, like spanikopita but with chicken. The portion was huge. My husband had swordfish kabobs which he enjoyed. My experience with swordfish is that many times it's dry. He said his swordfish wasn't dry at all. Our daughter had lamb and beef meatballs in a tomato sauce with rice. She loved them!

As part of a large group, the menu was planned. Except for the salad and chicken kabobs, the food was greasy, bland and limp. The saganaki was way too salty and the baklava was cold and hard as a rock. It was almost amusing watching people trying to eat it. There was no flavor. I certainly don't understand the high reviews. There are much better options in Greektown!

Had brunch here. We like the gyros appetizer, the octopus and the Spanakotiropita. However, my friends expected more spices or seasoning on the beef kebab. Staff is friendly.

We recently met friends in Chicago for dinner and met at the Greek Islands. We arrived around 6 PM on a Friday night and were seated immediately. By the time we left (8PM) there had been lines waiting and there were still a lot of folks trying to get a table. the wait would be worth it. We started with the flaming saganaki cheese which was delicious. I had a small Greek salad and the special, which was standing lamb ribs with rice and potato. The lamb was flavorful, tender and perfectly cooked. My husband had the broiled octopus which was marinated. It was flavorful and tender. Others in our party had Spetsofai, which is a sausage, and the stuffed lamb which was rolled with spinach and feta. Probably the least favorite dish. It was. Wonderful evening and the staff was friendly and attentive. Well worth driving into Chicago for.

One of the best dinners I had in Chicago! Delicious food, excellent service, and Greek decor. We started with the flaming Saganaki cheese as an appetizer (Delish!), then tried the vegetarian moussaka, the spinach cheese pie, and the chicken riganati. All were delicious! The chicken was so tender and flavorful that I'm going to have to try to replicate this at home (lemon, oregano, and garlic. Yum!). Our waiter was attentive and charming, too! Definitely a restaurant I would revisit and recommend to others.

Lunch was pretty mediocre. The Saganaki was great and the Taramosalata was ok. The Gyros was dry as was the beef tenderloin kabobs. My fault for not requesting the beef be cooked rare or medium rare. Overall, not very satisfying.

A very good restaurant, with a good selection of foods, service was very good. Place is very busy. We had to wait about 15 min for a table and it was well worth it. Staff is friendly and provided great service.

Wonderful food! Two of my family had the lamb (chops and loin), one had Spartan chicken, one had the Norwegian salmon and I had the Mediterranean Sea Bass. Food was well prepared and seasoned, very generous portions (a little too much so!). Also shared saganaki with everyone (one order almost feeds 4 sufficiently; two was too much for the 5 of us). My husband and I each sampled a Greek wine and thoroughly enjoyed them both. And our server (wish I could remember his name) was delightful! Definitely a place to return to.

Large noisy happy taverna w traditional Greek cuisine big portions inconsistent service Appetizers best include signature dish Flaming Saganiki cheese

Evidently customers are well treated in this place. If you come to this place, you are gonna be treated very well by the manager and staff like we were. The server and buzz boy Rosalio were very nice and helpful. The food is delicious. We will definitely come again in the future.

I dined here on a weekday evening and the drinks, appetizers, and dinner were all great! All interactions with staff, especially the gentleman at the door, were pleasant and welcoming. The chicken and the rice tasted just as good as it looked! I would definitely dine here again!

We were traveling by train from Seattle to New York which involved a 5hr layover in Chicago between trains. As the Amtrak lounge had no food, and Union Station's offerings were largely unspectacular fast food, we ventured out to to the Greek Islands restaurant just a few blocks away. Having visited Greece so often over the years, we consider it one of our "homes", and entering the restaurant felt like going home. We were relatively early on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was packed, but it didn't take long to get a table. The menu is extensive - we started with saganaki, followed in my case with Bakalao spetsiot and, for my wife, stuffed tomato and peppers, and finished the meal off sharing a Galaktoburiko. For drinks, I started with an Ouzo, followed by a nice red wine, topped off with a Metal 5*, and my wife had a few glasses of Greek white wine. All the food and drink was excellent, the service was great, and the price reasonable. It was a wonderful way to pass time between trains, and practice our limited Greek.

Worst restaurant experience ever. Very noisy to a point that as a couple we could not talk. The food is one step above fast food at the price of a French restaurant. Waiting, even with a reservation, is 30 min, and getting the fist dish is another 30 min. We could not take it anymore and decided not to have a birthday cake.

AMAZING Greek food. The place was hoppin' with customers on a Saturday night, and the we just loved the atmosphere. The food was amazing, the service was great, and we really enjoyed everything about this dinner.

Superb Greek Seafood Restaurant in Chicago West Loop area, can’t wait to return. Old world style attentive professional service, combined with the best quality ingredients, generous portions and reasonable prices, add up to explain the popularity and longevity of this large, yet charming establishment. Went there on the gushing recommendation of a valued restaurateur friend so knew it would be good but exceeded expectations. The saganaki appetizer, a house specialty of cheese flamed tableside, is a must and very festive. Calamari was fresh, light and well prepared, as was the house salad. Went with the butterflied lamb chops given the well deserved reputation of all the lamb dishes and-was not disappointed as it came to the table perfectly prepared as ordered. A side dish of sliced grilled zucchini was out of this world delicious, as was a side dish of grilled eggplant with sauce and cheese. As good as the lamb was I was second-guessing my decision on passing up on the fresh red snapper that I saw in the case on the way in. One look at it grilled on a plate and you could tell it was mouthwateringly delicious. Unfortunately did not get the chance to sample to confirm but my dining companion found it to be excellent. The only thing that came anywhere close to ordinary was the Greek staple lemon chicken soup. After dinner coffee and not too sweet baklava were a perfect finish to a great meal. A Chicago GEM.

The food here was good but there was no Greek atmosphere. The service light our saganaki with no enthusiasm. No, OPA's at this place.

We had stuffed tomatoes and moussaka, which were both very good. The service is friendly and attentive. Traditional Greek restaurant, but a bit dated

I'd just flown in, checked into my hotel met up with friends and I was in need of good food. This wonderful place served it up from appetizer to dessert and every bite was so good. The roast leg of lamb with rice was so moist, tender and delicious. Truly a best possible ending to a very long day. Come eat & be happy!

Took my wife, niece and her boyfriend (who had never been) to my favorite restaurant in America... the Greek islands! For a 17 year old, he did great. Tried everything (including the octopus) he’s already asked when we are going back. Service, food and ambiance are always excellent!

It had been a longtime bucket list item for me to have Greek food in Chicago and this is honestly one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. My husband and I dropped in and luckily we were able to be seated right away. Our waiter, Demetris, was incredible. It's his fault i probably gained 5 pounds in one night. The specialty of this restaurant is their flaming saganaki (cheese). He saw me eyeing it (I was going to resist temptation initially), and came over with a plate of it, just because he saw me staring at it. Everything we ate and drank was delicious, and I honestly can't wait to go back. I could die happy there.

Second time here - first time was about 8 years ago. Excellent hummus appetizer, and entrees were reasonably priced, good portions, and very tasty. Free valet parking an added bonus. Highly recommended.

I love this place. Everything feels and tastes authentic. The food is wonderful, with saganaki cheese always a favorite. My spouse and father-in-law love it here too, so we always go for dinner when visiting.

Great table clothed Grecian Restaurant for lunch with the family. Must have got in right after lunch as the service seemed to slip a bit, overall great experience besides that!!

Our party of 6 got there just before 6pm on a Sunday. Though the place was really busy, we were seated after only a few minutes. Their seating management staff is plentiful and efficient. The food was excellent, and the service was prompt, and professional, yet also warm and friendly.

Prompt service. The Taramosalata starter was fabulous. The Greek salad was good but could have used more tomatoes. The Kokkinisto lamb on bone, with tomato sauce was also a highlight. We were full and skipped dessert. I am giving a high rating because the food was very good for the price. If you want fine dining Greek, then I would consider elsewhere.

Having lived in Queens, NY my whole life, frequently enjoying authentic Greek restaurants in Astoria, I was skeptical about a Greektown restaurant, but happily surprised by everything. Yes it’s loud and fast paced, but the food is so worth it. I tried one of the combos and loved it. My stuffed tomato and pork was delicious, as was the grilled octopus. The salad and mezze spreads we had as apps were excellent as well. No issues with service or price. I highly recommend Greek Islands Restaurant.

This spot is gorgeous, very fancy, and a great place to fill up. The service is excellent and almost immediately brought out

Great food, great service, and flaming cheese! Who could ask for anything more. Delicious baklava, too. And free valet parking!

To quote our family that was visiting from Ireland, "never in my life have we seen, let alone eaten flaming cheese!". This delicious starter set the tone for a wonderful meal. Highly recommend.

Amazing food. If you are looking for good Greek food in Chicago, look no further. Highly recommend the gyro and Saganaki! Very pleasant staff. 10/10 would not miss this!

When looking for authentic Greek cuisine have no fear as Greek Island is here. Great food and close to Fort Lauderdale Beach and Las Olas is this restaurant that will not disappoint. Depending on when you go, you might have to wait a bit but well worth it. Whether going with couples or just with the family this restaurant delivers something for everyone. Enjoy your visit as you too will agree it’s the best in town.

We went to another, nearby, Greek restaurant, but walked out after a waiter failed to come take our order. We waited and waited and watched four or five passed us up. The switch was perfect as we enjoyed a lovely lunch of Greek foods including two appetizer, salad, four dishes and dessert. The restaurant was busier but our waiter, Hecter, was fantastic. People sitting around us included is in their celebrations. We felt like family.

It seems as though Greektown has lost restaurants over the past few years as rents in the area have risen. Glad Greek Islands and Santorini are still around! I was surprised at how busy Greek Islands was on a Monday night. Make reservations unless you are eating early. Seafood generally a great option, except for the smelts, which did not look appetizing in the least. Salmon was wonderful and vegetarians will find many options. Service was very professional (ie. Not treated like tourists or convention attendees). Could improve beer selection.

I haven't been to this location in a number of years (though we have been to the suburban Lombard location more recently). I am happy to say that it is just as good as ever. We came for Mother's Day without a reservation (risky I know) and were told that the wait would be 20-45 minutes. We were there a bit before the dinner rush and I could see some empty tables, so I suspected it would be quicker and it was. Maybe a 10 minute wait. They were giving mugs out to all the mothers which was a sweet touch. Friendly and prompt service as usual. We started with the Saganaki, which was, of course, delicious. I ordered the braised lamb shank with spinach rice and enjoyed it a lot. My husband ordered the Gyros plate, which he also liked. My daughter ordered the Grecian spaghetti, and enjoyed it even though she is typically a picky eater. One son ordered the beef tenderloin shish-ke-bob and liked it, and another son ordered the fish shish-ke-bob, which was the only "miss" of the night. He thought the fish was tasteless. Consistency has always been a strong suit for this restaurant. Consistently good food, consistently good and prompt service, and consistently reasonable prices. Perfect end to a lovely Mother's Day celebration.

Great experience this past week at Greek Islands, no complaints at all. The servers were attentive and the food excellent.. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner!

Friends and I went for lunch the other day. We started with the saganaki, which was good (always is). The complimentary bread was okay (not warm), served with little tubs of butter, olive oil on the table. My friends shared the Greek Salad, which they liked. I ordered the chicken shish kabobs, which were okay. The rice and potato wedge that came as a side were also okay. One friend had the lamb, which she really liked. The other had the roast pork special. She liked the pork, but was also underwhelmed with the rice and potato side. The server was very pleasant and the food came quickly. The free valet parking was nice.

I've been to the Greek Island restaurant downtown Chicago, and it's my favorite repeat place to go. I always get the Arni fournou which is the roasted lamb with potatoes. The atmosphere is fun and decorated as if you were in Greece. The staff is very attentive, and the food delicious. I highly recommend you enjoy this restaurant next time you head to Chicago.

angry waiter. not sure why. food was below par. atmosphere is clean and bright . don't recommend and will not return. we were also given leftovers from another table instead of the additional to go food we ordered and paid for. disgusting.

The wine was incredible, a slightly dry rose that was so drinkable. Then comes the appetizers. The saganaki (flaming cheese) was not over breaded but perfect in all aspects. The feta had a surprisingly creamy aspect. The pork main course was perfectly seasoned and cooked.

Given all the positive reviews, I thought this would be a sure bet, but it wasn't! I had the Gyros Athenian Salad. First the positive...but only barely. The salad had lots of Gyros, in fact too much given that it was dry and overcooked. It seems like the Gyros had been left out overnight. The salad was also a disappointment. Based on the description, I am thinking I will get lots of olives, and tomatoes, but nope. Literally, the salad had 2 black olives and a ¼ square of a tomato and two small slices of cucumber. Maybe, i caught them on a bad day, but how do you mess up Gyros when you are a Greek restaurant!?

The crowd is your first clue it’s so good! I haven’t been to Chicago in 25 years and it was even better than I remembered. The family dinner is great if you are unsure of what to get or just want a taste of everything!!!

Great as always. The food and atmosphere were awesome. Service was top notch. The gyros is always so fresh. And it’s 10 minutes from the marina!!

We no longer live in the Chicago area but try and have dinner at the Greek Islands restaurant whenever we are nearby. Probably the best Greek food anywhere including in Greece! The Taramosalata, flaming cheese, Greek salad and their lamb is simply to die for! Wished we lived closer so we could go more often.

Very large restaurant with many many food choices. Great service and fast. Food was good and tasty. We enjoyed our time there.

Greek islands was authentically delicious! The service was wonderful and the food was very true to that I’ve had in Greece. The seafood was fresh and well prepared and the gyros were delicious. I highly recommend the tzatziki!

Everything from the service to the food was absolutely amazing. First time here and if I ever visit Chicago again I will definitely be back.. went across the street to Santorini few days after and it was not as good.

We went with 8 people on a Friday night. Wait was only about 15 min. Staff was experienced with large groups and the food was awesome! Everyone loved their dish including a 3 & 8 year old and a teenage. We were so impressed with the food and staff, after telling our late arrival family members, we went again on Saturday with 11 people. The menu was HUGE and a great variety of seafood, chicken, pork, lamb choices. We had "family style on Sat. and some who ordered entrees and it was WONDERFUL. The staff seemed to help each other so everything was efficient and perfect!

The Greek Islands restaurant has very good food, service, and it looks nice. My favorite food would definetely have to be the gyros.

Great Greek food and amazing staff. We were seated quickly on a busy Friday night and even got a table outside. I cannot say enough about how wonderful all the staff is and the food is delicious as well.

My daughter and her family invited me here for Mother’s Day and it was the best decision. Even if it was crowded, the service was excellent and the food delicious. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything was tempting. Of course I had to order a baklava to go! All mothers got a Greek Islands Mug as a present, which was a nice detail. I loved the ambiance. Will definitely come back!

We love Greektown... and taking friends from all over the world when they’re in town. We’re from rural Illinois and Greek food is hard to find. On Friday we took our new Australian in laws to Greek Islands.. anticipating a first class meal.. We ordered family style so they could taste... They loved it as they had nothing to compare it to, but we were disappointed... The dishes were not hot and lacking sauces... the dessert tray is unappealing... the baklava wilts next to the moist cakes in the plate. However, the sagnaki was outstanding and our service was great!

So I have been here several times and normally I would give it a 5 rating. This time not so much. The "skordialia" was not so garlicky and had no flavor. The gyros (I tasted my sons) was so so. I had the lamb and orzo in tomato sauce. No real flavor - even the "Galaktobourico" was not tasting to good. We had a cold plate of what was to be Octopus and shrimp and some other stuff like the fish roe but honestly - It was the creamy stuff and veggies and I have no idea where the shrimp was! I admit I am Greek and maybe a bit fussier - but I have been here before and that was never the case. So for three of us I paid $110 dollars plus $30 tip cuz the waiter was great. The average price on specials for afternoon was $23. Having said all this - all was forgotten because we got to sit outside on Labor Day and in the shade and it was delicious! It was not hot or humid and it made everything better! I still say try it. I personally will try someplace next time.

We had family lunch at Greek Island restaurant in downtown Chicago. Everyone was deliciously satisfied with their meal. We were all too full for desert but ordered it anyway. The service was superb and the food was delicious.

One of the signs that an ethnic restaurant is authentic is the large number of older people eating there. We went to the Lombard location (lots of parking) around 6 p.m. on Sunday and the restaurant was full, but we got a table after waiting 30 mins. Even though the restaurant was packed, it wasn't very noisy because the restaurant has rooms to contain the noise. The menu has lots of choices and the print is small, so I had to pull up the magnifier on my iphone to read it. (Yep, I'm older.) Our waiter was Spiros. I asked Spiros what kind of desserts they had, and he said he would order for me. (There's a case of desserts by the front door, which I missed on my way in.) For dinner, I got the combination plate with lamb, moussaka, stuffed grape leaves with lemon sauce, veggies, rice, and potatoes. The slices of lamb were very tender, and the stuffed grape leaves' lemon sauce was yummy. Moussaka and potatoes melted in my mouth. Spiros brought me the most decadent dessert - shredded kataifi on the bottom (like baklava), layer of cream, pineapple, nuts, I forget what else. Thank God my husband has a sweet tooth.

This has quietly become one of the places I absolutely have to visit when I’m in Chicago. Food is incredible and you do the meal family style, with everyone at your table passing things around. It’s a great place to get a great Greek meal the way it’s done in Athens. I’ve been to many of the restaurants in Greektown; while they all have some great food, this is my favorite.

I’ve been going to Greek Islands for over 30 years - after attending an Opera at the Lyric. Tonight I found out they have changed their hours. Only open until 11 on Friday and Saturday nights. And 10:30 on weekdays. The opera typically runs until 10:30 or 11 pm. So with the hours changed - I will now look elsewhere for after Opera dinner. The restaurant didn’t explain why they are closing earlier - but guessing they are quickly losing business and can’t get enough customers late night to keep the place open. The restaurant business is moving north - to some more “hip” fun spots. Either way - they don’t have the hours correctly posted online or even on their door. I arrived at the restaurant at 10:45 on Saturday night and they had already locked the doors. Very sad - so I will begin looking for a restaurant that is open after the opera and welcomes their customers with open arms - not locked doors. I recommend that Greek Islands post the correct hours of business online and on their front door. Would help not “piss off” customers assuming the posted hours are correct.

Facilities are very clean and great location near the beach ⛱ easy access for activities and dining!

Very busy, noisy, but great food. My favorite is the roasted leg of lamb in tomato sauce, there are several versions of it, all great. The Briami vegetables (zuccini etc. in tomato sauce), the tzatziki is superb too.

I ate here while in Chicago years ago and now I eat here every time I am in town. I absolutely love this place and it is some of the best Greek food I have ever had.

Authentic Greek food. Truly excellent service. Menu is varied. We have had a number of items and each one tasty, plentiful, well seasoned but with herbs and spices not salt, and eye-rolling good. We had a 1-year-old in our party and the staff went out of their way to meet her needs, and even play peekaboo with her. The food here is sublime. Service old-world excellent. Attitude is kind and attentive and courteous but unobtrusive if you don't want to chat and overall refreshingly friendly. You come for the authentic cuisine but return for the total package. Valet parking at the entrance was fast and easy. We really like it there. Btw, none of us had that over-salted food reaction the next day, ie we could still get our rings on and off, which we appreciate. Highly flavorful but not because of a load of grease and salt, as one can find dining out.

The restaurant is a fine mid priced restaurant that is a good value for the cost. The place is always busy, so they rush you once you get seated. They keep on top of you to order and keep asking if you are done while you are eating.

The menu was terrific. Our group each ordered different items and all were terrific. Mine was a classic - grilled octopus - beautifully done. Very attentive waiters, as were those I presume were owners. Had the charm of a small restaurant and the efficiency of a big operation. No reservations taken. You all need to be there to be added to the wait list, but they worked it more quickly than we expected. Will definitely be on the list for return visits.

We love Greek food and really wanted to try something in Greek town. Greek Island was open a bit later so we made it about 30 minutes before closing. We were seated early. We went with the family feast to try a bit of everything. It definitely was a lot of food and we loved everything that we had. The grape leaves were nice and briny, the skardali dip was incredible and the pasta amazing. The price is per person so keep that in mind when ordering. We were not disappointed at all.

My family lives in the far south suburbs of Chicago and have been trying to go eat at Greek Islands a couple times a year for the last 20 years. We always go on my wife’s birthday and every time is as good or better than the last time. This trip, the food was great, service very quick and attentive and atmosphere is wonderful: the manager made it extra special by noticing a birthday gift my wife was holding and asking who’s birthday it was. At the end of the meal, he brought her a piece of cake and helped us sing to her. Made us feel really special. GreatbPlave!

Greek Islands has been around for decades and I’ve been coming here about every 2 years lately. Its becoming pretty average. My favorite Greek restaurant in Chicago has closed and the Greek Islands touts itself as the best in Chicago. Outside of some great saganaki, the gyro, Greek salad, and leg of lamb were just ok. Service was good but a bit hurried.

Busy place, unfriendly staff, waiter was nowhere to be found after taking order and serving food. Owners only talked to people they know. Other waiter talked to his helper with no respect. Food Quality and presentation are poor, not worth the price we paid. Waiter recommened the special items on menue to us. The food from Mr. Greek in the Food Course is better.

I discovered Greek Islands in the 70's. Subsequently I have tried to return there whenever driving through or visiting Chicago. This was the first time I was disappointed! The free valet parking and quick seating made for a convenient stop after a long drive. We started by sharing saganaki (flaming cheese) and horiatiki (village salad). They were as tasty as we remembered. The main courses disappointed! My wife ate light and ordered a small pork shish kabob - dried out and rather tasteless. I ordered the grilled sea bass. It seemed to be properly cooked and, as advertised, contained the flavors of oregano and lemon but lacked the fuller flavor I remembered. As usual. for tradition,I accompanied my meal with retsina, which helped. I may return but, sadly, I would not again brave rush hour traffic on I-90 to get there.

Truly a great Greek restaurant. Great service, large menu, great atmosphere and a little pricey. The entrees start around $17 and the lamb dishes are around $35. It was much more that we are used to paying for lunch, but big city seems to go with big prices. The portions were very large and delicious.

We love all ethnic cuisines, but Greek is right up among our favorites. Based on the reviews, we decided to try the Greek Islands restaurant, and it did not disappoint. It was a fun atmosphere, the food was terrific and the total bill was pretty reasonable. It's a family business atmosphere, with many employees there to help you with any need. Very energetic.

I believe this spot is popular because it is reasonably priced and has complimentary parking. The food is average at best. We started out with hummus-which had no taste. Greek salad had one piece of feta. Chicken shish was 3 pieces of chicken. I had a special of meat pie which was “meh”. I grew up in a Greek area and have been to Greece several times and this just didn’t cut it. I would give it another try.

No reservation needed. Family friendly and it gets too loud though. Food is great and served quickly. The best plate is the lamb with tomato sauce. Gyros are dry a bit not so great. You must try the grilled cheese it is wonderful. The all in all service is good and attentive. Not so expensive.

We loved this restaurant! Great service, super unique inside, and the food was just wonderful. Would 10/10 recommend. We live in AZ and wish we had a Greektown! So fun!

This place is an amazing place. The food was delicious. The flaming cheese was exciting and tasteful. I had the Gyro and my husband had the lamb. We both loved it and highly recommend it. Not to mention the staff and waiters are very attentive

Treated poorly at Athena so we walked down here to eat. So glad we did! Outstanding service and great meal. We had a Greek salad (just ok) and then Moussaka and Gyro dinners. The main courses were fantastic. So glad we dropped in.

Food was fresh and delicious, service was top-notch, and the ambience friendly and casual. The price was also affordable. Don't miss the delicious cheese-pie. Order tip: get the gyro salad and add pita bread on the side because gyro plate doesn't come with veggies. :)

This place is huge and is usually packed. It is better than most of the places in Greek town but seems to be in a bit of a rut. So Im in Chicago on business and we decied to come here; one being a Greek American who knows great Greek food and can make it. Saganaki seems to be the ubiquitous appetizer. I like it, but am tired of the flambe at the table and the servers seem tired of it as well. It ignites in a huge flame, and the servers were uniformily uttering a tired "opa!' while going through the motions. Amazed they didn't burn anyone. The cheese is tasty as long as you hurry and eat it; it recongeals quickly. Beef and lamb meatballs were awful. Dry, hard as rocks. with little flavor other than overwhelming essence of clove which was devolving into tasting like gasoline. The server removed them and didn't charge us. Dolmahes were wonderful if you like grape leaves. Shrimp baked in a rich tomato sauce and topped with feta is a great dish. Here the sauce was exactly what I look for, rich and fresh. The shrimp were good quality but they were way overcooked, so they were very tough. I make this dish and the key is making the sauce and cooking it down, then quickly poaching the shrimp just before service in the pan. Shame. Pastichio is not my favorite gGreek dish, but it was for a companion. The rack of lamb is stellar, and the grilled lemon chicken was a hit.

I am Greek, and I struggle to find Greek restaurants that measure up to my Grandmothers' kitchens. Greek Islands restaurant in Chicago has the best Greek food I've had since my grandmothers passed away. Try the Dolmathes and Pastitsio - they're wonderful!

This my first visit to a Greek Restaurant. It won't be my last. We went on Mother's Day, without reservations. We were lucky enough to get a table shortly after arriving. It was crowded but it is a large restaurant. The food was excellent. I had the chicken shish kabobs. We also had a couple of orders of the flaming Greek cheese. Oohpah! Sorry, I don't remember the name of the cheese. I would be happy making a meal out of the cheese and Pita bread. Service was also excellent.

We had the family style meal. It was all very good. The flaming cheese was the hit for me. I loved the feta in the salad but other than that the salad didn't have a lot of flavor. Gyro meet was awesome. Chicken was seasoned well. Desserts were so yummy. The service was excellent.

The food is very good and relatively inexpensive. It’s very convenient to pull-up to the door with the valet right there to help. We like to eat at the bar but the bartender who has been there for years is so unfriendly! He never smiles and hardly talks. Other than that, it’s a wonderful Greek restaurant!

Snapshot: Food: Excellent (including the complimentary bread) Service : Excellent (highly personable host; attentive, unobtrusive waitstaff; short wait times for food and the check) Atmosphere: Excellent (elegant and traditional but also modest and casual; not noisy; good ventilation/climate control, feng shui table spacing, so you’re not sitting on top of people, and easy to move around the space) Price: Good (It’s Chicago, so the taxes are noticeable, but ultimately acceptable for the somewhat average wallet). Value: Excellent What We Had: bread, the house salad, navy bean soup, flaming saganaki cheese, shrimp tourkolimano, spinach cheese pie The best Greek food in America is in New York. That’s what the host of Greek Islands told me and my wife in 2010, conspicuously ignoring his own establishment. After thirteen years of saying to each other, “Remember that awesome Greek place in Chicago?” we were laid-over in the Windy City long enough to visit Greek Islands for the second time. This visit convinced me that one of the following two things must be true: 1. the best Greek food is actually in Chicago; or 2. I refuse to settle for anything but the second best. Just like the first time, we were warmly welcomed by the host (the host we met in 2010 wasn’t there) even though, with all the luggage we were dragging, we looked like we were about to move into the place. The interior design of the main split-level space seemed the same as we remembered it but with the freshness of regular refurbishing. At 12 PM on a Friday, the place was doing brisk business but wasn’t overcrowded or noisy. The clientele seemed to be an even mix of tourists and locals having their regular meals or doing the business-lunch thing. The host offered to stow our bags but didn’t even blink when we inquired whether we could keep them with us, instead finding us a corner table by which we could comfortably and discretely park our stuff. Our Chicago layover was a four-hour window between two train rides (Amtrak’s Lakeshore Limited from NYC to Chicago and its Southwest Chief from Chicago to LA), and with Union Station just a ten-minute walk away, we didn’t feel pressed for time. But we weren’t exactly flush with it either, so the speedy prep and service by the cooks and waitstaff was something we really appreciated. And speed didn’t negate courtesy or attentiveness: the service was as dignified as it was efficient. In addition to our meal at the table, we ordered an extra meal to go for each of us to have on our second leg of our train journey. As for the food: I was so excited by how good it was that I forgot to take pictures of it beyond the first dish. So for a visual reference of this restaurant’s fare, please access the world wide web’s associated curation of photos by less easily distracted reviewers. All’s well that ends well. Our food to go arrived with the check, we said our goodbyes to Greek Islands and returned to Union Station, clutching our doggy bags like treasure. Thirteen years since we were last in Chicago, thirteen years of referencing our one meal at Greek Islands—and the second time was just as good as the first. Must be why they’re still around.

I've eaten in many Greek restaurants in many parts of the world, including in the Greek islands. All our food was very good and the sanganaki and octopus were especially good. Mousaka was fine and I've had better, similarly, my dining partner had gyros that I thought were just OK. I'd return but would not make it a priority.

My wife had their traditional Gyros and I had a special they only have on Mondays. Both top of the line! great quality and generous portions. You will NOT be disappointed.

My Only problem with the Greek Islands is that I overeat. The Saganaki is traditional and fun. The seafood is fresh and the dishes are authentically prepared. My favorite is the tzatziki. Oh MY! I mean a lot of things you can fake, but the tzatziki sauce is authentic. That should tell you something. The souvlaki is top shelf, salads fresh and Greek bread yummy. If you are visiting Chicago, you should visit Greek Islands.

A nice place to go.. Good food. Good service. Good flavor.... Overall a solid bang for your buck... Had a Gyro and Greek Salad to start. The salad was just okay. Not great. The Gyro is served as build your own. Excellent.. For the main, I had the Sword fish Kabab.. it looked over cooked but was not. Very well done , however it was good, chard not dry.. Overall a nice dish just short on quantity..... My son had the chicken version. Excellent. The chicken got two sticks, the Sword only got one.. My suggestion, increase quantity. The vegetables and rice were only fair. Nice friendly atmosphere.

The food was incredible. Service was great. The free valet parking was wonderful. Even our 7 year old enjoyed it, and the nice thing was that the place is lively - so we didn’t have to constantly try to keep him quiet. Serving sizes were more than we needed. We loved it and will go back.

We had the private room for about 35 people to celebrate my sons Commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. The team at the Greek Island took care of everyone, and the food was outstanding. We were taking left overs home.

Great food and service. Even though it was crowded we were able to get a table after a short wait. The spicy Avgolemono was fantastic. Seating was with a view of the fireplace and despite the crowd the meal was paced well and came out hot. We had a great time and will be back.

I visited Chicago for the weekend for friends and family, and we opted to try some local Greek cuisine -- everything we tried was spectacular! We ended up going there the next night as well. We ordered take-out over the phone and picking up was straightforward. Would highly recommend!

We went to this restaurant looking for Greek dishes. My companion went for the gyros while I selected the salmon. It was outstanding! Well worth a visit.

Excellent service and attention Many Mexicans attending the place Very abundant dishes, quite good flavor

We have eaten in the Greek Islands restaurants many times and in both stores. Can’t say one is better than the other. Today, the one in the city was fantastic! We started with the Lentil soup and then had an appetizer plate. Each item was fantastic! We ate light as we weren’t that hungry. The staff are warm, patient and friendly. The inside is also just like being in Greece. Beat the rush and come for lunch and they offer lunch specials. We will come before 2:00 pm next time. Always THE best!!!! Just incredible food!!

Large selection of authentic Greek fare (no french fries for the Tzatziki which was odd) with good service. In the heart of Greektown not a bad choice for lunch or dinner!
OPA!
The atmosphere was authentic. The saganaki did not disappoint. It was the perfect start to our evening out. Also, they have free valet so no worries about parking.
