Fresh Food, Nice Atmosphere

By TravelingJLJ |

Sat at the bar to have a late lunch. Ate the salad pizza and it was very tasty and fresh! There were so many yummy options on the menu. It was hard to decide. It has a very spacious feel inside and there is a nice outside patio in the back. My only complaint is that the service was pretty slow. Granted, this is Venice, CA and it was a little after lunch rush. So perhaps the staff was in a bit more chill mood. I would eat here again because the food was so good.

Cocktail heaven

By rory140903 |

We only popped in for a cocktail and we were spoilt for choice. Unusual mixes and natural botanicals served with style and charm. Great sounding healthy menu and the meals around us looked colourful and delicious. Garden out at the back looked pretty. All in all a delightful buzzing haven with very tempting menu. Will be back when I can.

Very good food

By TanagraUK |

Healthy food, good service, you can eat either at the bar or the restaurant or the terrace. Nice place to have a good breakfast or lunch ! Cocktails looked amazing however it was too early to try them ;-)

Customized Healthy Fare

A delightful oasis with made to order selections of healthy food for all tastes. Don't miss the brunch sandwich! Place your order at the counter and then snag a seat on the covered patio in back.

Fun, fast and Good

By Angel H |

On the spur of the moment this Sunday we walked into Greenleaf for lunch and were delightfully surprised byt the good, healthy food, pleasant personnel, and quick delivery. I had the Turkey panini, my friends had the vegetarian salad and Chicken panini, and one had a simple grilled chicken breast with grilled vegetables. We ate in the terrace out back which is very airy. We requested the music to be turned down--and they did immediately. They had juices, smoothies, sparkling water, but no coffee or hot tea--which I missed. I didn't try the baked goods but they were tempting to look at. I'd definitely go back because the menu had a lot more to offer. There was also a hip looking bar but I didn't check out the drinks.

Excellent Food, Cool atmosphere

By Chris S |

This is one of the new restaurants that will be preferred over a lot of old-fashioned, stuffy, cheesy places. You can assemble your own menu in many ways, with protein-items, plus a large variety of side items. The difference to a fast-food chain is that each ingredient is prepared by chefs in a delicious way, and fresh, and in a cool open kitchen, fun to watch. The seating around the large square in the middle of the spacious room is like sitting at a bar, but tables are also available, Lentils, roasted bell peppers, zucchinis, a large variety of other fresh salads and vegetables lets you dine as healthy and as colorful as you want. All in all a very positive surprise.

Nice meals, reasonable price, average portions

By Deep Filip |

Had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries and aioli sauce. The meal was nice, the portions not too big though, could have been more fries and from what I am used to getting in the USA (2010) this was more like a European serving. I paid $16 for the burger + fries.

The concept is smart but as a whole, you can not figure it out

By Phayao13 |

The freedom to create your own "designed" meal is both exciting and a little confusing. Restaurant interior who testifies to high ambitions, but it is bad to match with dirty tables and loads of debris on the floor in the outdoor area.Experienced parts of the staff as a little uninterested of their customers and turned out to be nonchalant. However, big plus for health-oriented tasty dishes

Relax at the bar

By Jon E |

Great venue with varied options for dining. Eat and drink at the bar or sit at a table inside or out. Food was great and the drinks plentiful. Happy hour offerings and great friendly staff. Well worth a try

Nice place with nice and friendly atmosphere. See the calm backyard! The food was very good. So was the service.

Like the Concept...But

By Geellis |

Love the concept of this place. Love the recipes. The execution on those is very spotty. Went twice today (lunch and pre-dinner) and found the recipe concepts very good but the execution was VERY spotty: white fish was cooked well but the only flavor experience was salt; the sweet potatoes were very unevenly cooked, with some hard as pebbles while others were nice; the egg bacon sandwich my buddy had for lunch was potentially quite a good sandwich, but the cooled off bacon (alas, a very high quality bacon) significantly attenuated the experience; the grilled peaches in the grilled peach salad were not freshly grilled (a must, one would think, for a salad in which grilled peaches were the signature). I think the prices are on the high side for the spotty execution. These aren't necessarily expensive ingredients or preparations. The chef and management simply need to work a ton on execution.

Great spot with vegan options

By Talli86 |

Came here for lunch and it did the job! Nice salad, I got the LA LA bowl and it was very filling with nice flavours. My partner got the Kitchen Sink Cob salad which he enjoyed. They have a nice terrace area in the back where the sun hits so nice place to enjoy your lunch. I was a bit disappointed that the juice wasn’t made fresh on demand but bottled, it was still good though and hopefully they made it that morning or the day before.

Don’t understand making customers queue to get a drink. a lot of people are in a hurry At lunchtime. This doesn’t help

By Sally P |

Food nice. Better organisation, catering to busy people who want be in and out in around an hour (we have lunch breaks) would improve it. Can’t recommend it due to the lack of this option which slows Everything down. Sad really.

Cool space, good food -- fresh, locally sourced, organic -- at a GREAT price.

By Izzytorra |

It's a perfect place to meet friends, and you each pay for yourself as you go. The space is open and comfortable -- sit at the bar, at tables or outside on the pretty patio. The chicken I had was organic and free range and was delicious. The hummus was the best I've had, topped with pesto. My vegetarian daughter's salad was tasty and nutritious. Go there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Relax and savor the space and food.

Yum

Amazing full flavor healthy meals drinks and cool ambience. Service equaled food. Brilliant and moderate price.

Identity Crisis

By Karen D |

Greenleaf took over this space and added a few overhead menus for takeout-which looks to be most of their business. The space was pretty empty for a Saturday night but the takeout line was consistent with people waiting in their workout gear to take their meals home. The decor is way to formal for a take out place. Food was ok, not great. Not going back.

Early dinner

First visit. Excellent selection. You will want to eat the whole menu. Opt for the Moroccan Bowl - amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Great Food (especially for order at the counter) with plenty for Vegetarians

By rickpoet |

My wife and I discovered Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop by accident, when we weren’t able to get into one of the more popular restaurants nearby in the available time that we had. There was no line at Greenleaf on Saturday night, when we were there, to order at the counter and plenty of available seating in the brightly lit dining room in the back, as well as in the more comfortably lit bar area behind the counter and bar. We were looking for a more traditional order from the waiter at a table experience, but we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome quality and taste of the food that we received at this counter order joint. I ordered from the build your own entrée menu, and chose marinated tofu as the main, along with faro risotto, and green beans with shallots as my two sides. Everything on the plate was truly delicious. The tofu had a nice charr to it and, although I would have liked the marinade it was cooked in to be a little bit more present, it's still had a decent and satisfying flavor. The faro risotto was absolutely the star of the plate with a very nice savory cheese flavor running through it. The green beans, especially mixed with the shallots tasted, great as well. The green beans were perfectly cooked too - just as crispy/fresh as I like them to be. My wife had the La La bowl with faro, quinoa and vegan nacho cheese which she thought was very good, filling bowl, and delicious. It also contained quinoa, black beans, corn, tomato, avocado and baby kale, along with a dressing that a little bit of a spicy kick to it. There are plenty of other vegetarian options to choose from including seasonal specials like baked butternut mac & cheese, paleo cauliflower rice, salads, bowls, a flatbread and much more. So if you're a vegetarian you're definitely not going to go hungry here at The Green leaf Gourmet Chopshop. They also have seasonal cocktails and, unfortunately, they were out of the Apple Caramel Mule which is what I wanted, and which sounded absolutely delicious. That was a bit of a bummer since it was fairly early on a Saturday night that they were already out of this particular item. I still wanted a cocktail though and ended up with the Fig and Lemon. This is made with fig jam, and bourbon. It was sweet-ish and well mixed, with a little bit of the visual element of, what I'm guessing were, seeds from the fig jam mixed in with it. It did the job it was supposed to and made me happy. The service was also very quick which was unfortunately for us a requirement of the evening as we had to be an event with a hard start time (which is why we didn't end up waiting for a table at the nearby restaurant that we first went to.) Though it was slightly awkward that the food came out before the cocktail. I would imagine most people, myself for sure, would want to start on the cocktail and enjoy that in a leisurely fashion before the food comes out. Also the bar table we sat and wasn't clean and had food on it, but it was the only available table in the bar area so it's where we chose to say it. The dining room in the back had plenty of seating but it was way too brightly lit for dinner, we thought. It took us a while to get the attention of someone to clean the table for us, and when they eventually did they actually didn't do a very thorough job and left bits of food from the previous diners right in front of me on the table top. That was disappointing and I ended up just cleaning it myself with a napkin, and it didn't really affect my enjoyment of the food. There are some great restaurants on Abbot Kenny - some super fine dining and popular options which we love to eat at, but in a time crunch and knowing that we’ll get delicious food with lots of vegetarian, and gluten-free options, we wouldn't hesitate to come to Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop again.

Big bowl salad!

By haushala |

If you're looking for a big bowl of fresh salad this is it. For people wanting to eat healthy it's a good spot. Seating is indoors and patio here. They have great fresh juices which I feel is rare to find. I loved how we could see the chef working inside and even guys bringing in the veggies looked happy. A green healthy place for me is not just what it serves but when I feel the people who work there from on cashier to cleaners are happy and treated well . It adds a whole new happiness of eat healthy and stay healthy .

Nice place to eat

By Grace R |

This is a great place to sit down and chill. Nice people, great music and great decor. The meals we ordered were a little average though. My children ordered cheeseburgers and they initially came without cheese! So they were sent back and slapped back on. The children didn't like it, but we definitely appreciated the fruit that came with it. I ordered the chipotle chicken panini, and thought that was average as well. Looking around, the brunch meals looked delicious, I should of ordered the eggs!

Hipster hangout

By Gibbo1969 |

Stopped in here for a light dinner. Enjoyed the on tap IPA which is a really nice drop. I had some pork tacos and also shrimp tacos which were both really good. Wife had lemongrass chicken salad which she really enjoyed. Friendly bar staff, beards are the way to go around here .

Good cocktails in a pleasant atmosphere

By ADXBS |

Stopped for a pre-dinner drink and particularly enjoyed the charcoal margarita. The outdoor seating was comfortable and warm.

Healthy organic eats on one of the hippest streets in the LA area

By vansancopp |

This was our second visit to Greenleaf and both visits yielded a delicious meal. It plays up to all the stereotypes of Southern California food - organic, fresh, healthy, farm to table, vegetarian and vegan options, etc....in the end, the intent is to make the diner feel good about their meal and it succeeds in that respect. We were looking for a light evening meal and chose the Kitchen Sink Cobb and the Petersen special sandwich. Both were served in a timely fashion and satisfied our small appetites. The service was friendly and attentive. For a reliable dining experience after a day of shopping on Abbot Kinney, Greenleaf is a great option.

Salad almost to perfection

By bbjurstr |

Even though the queue was a bit to long, we had pay-back when the food arrived. Salad as fresh as it can be, well prepared and huge portion.

Back in Venice to some healthy food

By Gibbo1969 |

Last day in USA , drove back from Vegas to LA for flight. Nipped into Albert Kinney for some late lunch and tried this place. Really sums up the area, funky vibe, relaxed , friendly service and fresh, healthy food. A great change from the excess of Vegas. Food was great, service great , highly recommended

Tasty, fresh food, a little pricey

By Jenny from Santa Cruz |

We went here on a last minute large group, informal dinner reservation, and all enjoyed our tasty tacos and salads. The group reservation tables are in the back, a bit farther from the bar. The restaurant is fast-casual, meaning you order at the counter and then sit down so they bring you your food to the table.

Ok, Here's a good place!!

By AndrewBeach |

Great place for fresh food, good drinks, super-friendly service. We liked the variety of options on the menu--lots of salads, bowls, some creative entrees, burgers, flatbreads. Nice casual atmosphere! Glad we stopped by for dinner!

Great taste

By Curiosity655744 |

The taco chicken is spicy, but just spicy enough. Keeps tinkling but not unpleasant. The small beansalad is a nice side. I combined with the sweet potatoes, which were great. Best dinner I had in three weeks holidays !

Busy place, good foods

By Lex O |

We had diner here after a 24 hours from Europe, we had burgers and Nacho's. The reason I gave 4 instead 5 stars, is that the beers we wanted were sold out, and the draft beer they had was the last one. So we had to change our order twice.

Nice healthy food.

By MaartenOpVakantie |

Nice healthy food, tasteful and fresh. Full service at the bar, the rest of the restaurant is order at the bar. Your food will then be brought at your table. The juices are over priced and served in bottle's. Overall fair pricing. The restaurant feels easy going and relaxing. I would definitely recommend it.

Really not phew

By Shashouxx |

The place is pretty nice, open on Abbott Kinney, but the service at the bar is slow and disorganized (the waiters are having fun, you're not so much) and the food is just passable. I still don't understand my burger without bun (see photo), as for the garlic fries, they were not cooked. It's still a good place to people watch, and in LA, there's so much to see!

Delicious!

By Somers F |

Sandwich or Salad, you can't go wrong! Wish we could have experienced the full dining atmosphere but we had to grab and go. Still delicious, even boxed up.

Fresh healthy food at low prices

By Suzie Mike & Sam |

We weren't organised and hadn't booked a table on a Friday night so were wandering aimlessly on Abbot Kinney when we saw this place - a great find. It's half fast food joint half restaurant. The fast food element of ordering at a counter from a menu above the counter belies how nice the seating area is (especially the terrace) and the lovely cocktails. The food itself is really fresh and tasty. I had veggie pizza and it was delicious- very thin base and 'white' so no tomato sauce. My sister had the veggie stir fry which was massive and again really fresh and tasty. Very cheap - with 2 cocktails only $38! Bargain!

Great Saturday Brunch Menu

By Jack H |

My daughter and I were shopping in the Abbot-Kinney area (a fun place) and we got hungry! Walking by Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop, we decided to give it a try. This is not typical for me. Usually I OVERDUE the homework before I eat somewhere new. But what a pleasant surprise! It was Saturday, late morning, and they do a special brunch menu that day. We both had their unique version of Eggs Benedict… poached eggs, turkey breast, truffled spinach, carmelized onions and cheddar, on crisp pretzel bread. But the best part was their twist on hollandaise which included whole grain mustard. Tasted great.

Rude manager

By Junior B |

Rude manager, treat customers in a rude and scarring way. Would never recommend that place again. Very basic hospitality

Maybe 3 1/2 stars would be better

By Grandmom1949 |

While strolling down Abbot-Kinney we were faced with hungry grandchildren. We ducked in here, saw a sophisticated adult veggie forward menu and were surprised by the kid’s menu. Also had a paleo menu!! Order at counter, food brought to you. Fill your own water glasses from nearby urns. Kids had chicken nuggets ( really a lovely small chicken cutlet, breaded and fried, and then cut into pieces)with sweet potato fries and hamburger with excellent small fruit salad. Adults had lemongrass salad ( all good, nice chicken) a hamburger, and paleo chicken . Not a single complaint I had small salad with cranberries, candied walnuts, blue cheese, etc. The 1/2 salad is ample. Delicious pomegranate dressing. We also had the Mexican style, tomatillo based soup with carnitas. With additional flavor from thoughtful garnishes. We sat in outdoor space behind the restaurant. Bright but covered from direct sun Beverage menu somewhat limited

Busy and buzzing

By Engee1 |

We popped in cos it looked nice and was buzzing inside, just for a coffe. Coffe wasn't bad but wasn't particularly hot. Even so, thought we'd stay for a late lunch/early dinner but found the menu so confusing we didn't bother in the end. It was a bit like trying to put together an airfix model, taking a bit from here and a bit from there - too much hassle. Just a nice straightforward menu would be great. The food did look good and we almost went up to people to ask what it was they had ordered so we could do the same, but we didn't and left instead.

Quite good for lunch

By AngusRodrigo |

VERY fresh ingredients, good quality selection of both salads and sandwiches - good bar and selection of beers - quick service. Would definitely have this as a stop for lunch.

My Favorite Restaurant in Venice

By msand312741 |

The only place on Abbot Kinney where you can get amazing food and NOT spend tons of money. I love their salads (try the eat slow bowl) and the vibe and staff are amazing.

Excellent as always, good gluten free

By edwardp88 |

Second visit to this place and didn’t disappoint. Great fresh food, friendly staff, indoor and outdoor spaces are awesome with a good atmosphere. Will return

Good breakfast

By MTorre |

The food is good, nothing special or surprising. We were in for breakfast and the breakfast pizza sounded promising. It was just ok, a little dry. Coffee wasn't great also.

Casual - cool vibe excellent food- DOGs welcome

By Myka S |

What a surprise. With the menu board as you enter I got a take away vibe, but as you roam back you will find a bustling bar and tables, everything is light green and airy. Great cocktails with fresh juices and fun eats well crafted! This place is DOG friendly, big and little pooches alike were enjoying the bar area with their owners.

Salad Perfection

By TheFunFoodie |

I love this place! The salads here are amazing! They are huge and have adorable tiny mozzarella balls on them. Their Take-Out is lightening fast. Dessert options are endless. I recommend the Magic Bar. Also everyone who works there is just lovely.... that’s always a bonus for me.

lovely place tasty food

By Patty P |

Not a long of choices in the area to eat a nice meal, so we stopped at Greenleaf and we are glad we did. The charcoal cocktail was delicious. give it a try. We had shrimp diablo tacos and chicken fajita with grilled corn. Both were very good when you added the delicious sauces. Everything looked so fresh. it was a hard time deciding. we sat at the bar and our bartender was very friendly and helpful.

Good brunch

By EmmyLou85 |

Good coffee, good brunch menu, nice place to sit and people watch. Staff are friendly and prices are pretty good.

Went back the following night with locals.

By Richard H |

Staying around the corner for a few days I wandered in in a jet lagged state and went straight for beer and a melt. Great staff, good beer options and decent food. Came back the next night with some local (East Venice - affordable living....) and had a good return visit. There are surprisingly few decent places to eat along AK and a few are overhyped and overpriced (or sell ice cream) and this was a great alternative.

Degeulasse! (Yuck!)

By Julien C |

Ordered a burger which should be the easiest thing to do right in the U.S! Tasteless, no seasoning, under cooked, dripping a mix of water and oil couldn’t even eat half of it! Yuck 🤢 Fries were soft and soggy and under seasoned too. So basic and so awful. Honestly, it tastes better at McDonald!

Healthy and tasty for all! Veggies and meat options.

By Per N |

This place serves great healthy food both for vegan/vegetarians and carnivores. So, Easy If you're a mixed crowd. I Love the soy free Veggie burger made of quinoa. Great Sweet potato Fries too with avo Dipping sauce. Nice bar seating If you Are eating on your own.

Interesting mix + potentially great

By aubspl |

Really interesting place. Looks like a nice cafe but we were there on a Friday night and there was a dj playing funk and the bar area was packed. The food was okay -- I think maybe we could have made better choices as the menu seemed to have a lot of potential (and healthy which is great). I have a lot of food allergies and always have questions and the cashier wasn't super thrilled or helpful.

quite delicious lunch

By ryecapital |

very hipsterish in design but very reasonably priced you order at counter and they bring food to your table . We had a mix of salads , nachos and other foods and everybody seemed quite pleased . We had table by front door which allowed for pleasant people watching Excellent value for the money

Courtyard bliss

By MsBrentwood |

Fell upon this hidden little gem when out for a stroll along Abbot Kinney. A passerby was carrying a takeout bag from Greenleaf and we were intrigued. Sat out back in the courtyard, we loved the people watching as we waited for our lunch. Our food came out in good time and was very tasty. The service was good, not over the top but doesn't need to be in such a zen like atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

What a great place to eat healthy! Love the vibe!!!

By Karen V |

this place was sooo good! We were needing to eat somewhere before we went in to see Hamilton and this was the perfect place and perfect food! My daughter and I both had salads that were yummy and fresh and full of flavor! Highly recommend this place for food and ambiance! We will come again for the next show ;)

Clean Dinner

By C L |

Missed the happy hour which ended at 6p! Opted for anti oxidant salad (next time just a half order ) and yummy artichoke soup (huge, filled a small pho bowl) Sat by the bar but I forgot there is a cozy room in the back Very clean restrooms Highly recommended

Healthy Bar Food

By jess darke |

Yes, it's a paradox, but Greenleaf does its darnedest to fill a niche on Abbott Kinney by offering healthy food that still has its share of fried and served-on-chips options. Vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores can all find something they'll enjoy on this menu. Just beware, the salads can be "less healthy" than some of the other options. I recommend you sit at the bar and take in the crowd.

Health-focused casual cafe

By Shanelle |

Casual cafe with healthy options. They have a nice heated patio that’s good for studying or for hanging out with people. You order at the counter first and then they’ll bring your food out. Credit cards accepted. Street parking. They do serve alcohol. Restrooms available outside in the right hand side of the exit. The tumeric latte was well made and I liked that the ketchup they had for the fries was sugar-free.

Super Salads

By straidman |

Great choice for fresh, healthy salads. Not a huge amount of tables so you might have to share. Wish we had one in Palm Springs!

Salad heaven!

By Laurie B |

Sitting on the back deck was heavenly enjoying stir fry with brown rice, chicken roll ups, Caesar salad 🥗 a gourmet lunch, something for everyone!

Great healthy and fresh food

By Emily T |

I have eaten here a few times for lunch and dinner and I like the variety of salads, soups, bowls, paninis, sides, and entrees. We had take out here recently and the food held up well even with a thirty minute delay of commuting home. I really like the chicken pesto panini and turkey melt on a pretzel roll and my husband loves the ahi tuna sandwich. The ingredients seem healthy and fresh - it is a little pricey for fast casual food but the portions are pretty generous and I really like variety of food options.

Fun, healthy, delicious food

By Mel427 |

The lovely garden room of this restaurant just off the beach is a great place for a salad that is both healthy and delicious. Their bowls are wonderful, too. The atmosphere is fresh and relaxing.
