We were seated and it took almost 10 minutes to have a waiter come by to take our order. We had to flag waiter down to get what was needed (refills, etc). Food was average. I have had better service in NYC itself.

We love to drop by Gruby’s whenever we’re in the neighborhood. They serve authentic New York delicatessen food (and some not so New York or Jewish). We especially like their sandwiches and matzo ball soup, but have also enjoyed their bagels and smoked fish. Their bagel chips are a treat we like to take home. They offer a reliably good meal in a casual atmosphere. On our most recent visit, we split a bowl of matzo ball soup, and I had a tuna melt with cole slaw and my partner had a Cuban sandwich with cucumber salad. All were delicious. Their matzo ball soup is the real deal. It is filled with big pieces of chicken and vegetables, and I think they cooked it all together at once to make the soup. The single matzo ball was large and fluffy. My own mother never made such big and fluffy kneidlach. On past visits we’ve had knishes, as well as Reuben sandwiches, pastrami sandwiches, corned beef sandwiches, and whitefish salad with bagels. The only drawback to Gruby’s is that their pickles are definitely not New York deli style. Instead of a big, whole, Kosher sour pickle, they serve a quarter of (cut lengthwise) a dill pickle more like what you find on a supermarket shelf. Since the food is good overall, this is not a big deal. We enjoy Gruby’s food, their staff, and happily return from time to time. We certainly recommend them to others.

Stopped in for breakfast with my fiancé. The corned beef hash was excellent and the egg and cheese sandwich reminded me of my time working in New York City. We'll definitely be back!

To many choices of awesome food. Great staff! It's hard to find a good traditional deli. Hot corned beef, hot pastromi, hot office daddies.

When you don't live in New York City you take what you can in the way of a deli. Gruby's is owned by two brothers from the Bronx, displaced in Atlanta. They still get their rye bread from back home.... and it is delicious. The food is well-prepared and includes kosher meats as well as non-kosher. Their Cole slaw and potato salads are good. Their sandwiches are filled well. But it is not NY quality. However, it is just about the best down south.

Would give a zero if it was possible, mainly because the manager there has no customer service and is completely disrespectful. On top of that, their food is horrible!! It's right near my office so we have taken so many clients there, but nobody has ever found something "good" on the menu. But after the disrespect from the "Manager" today, I assure you nobody from my company will ever eat at this dump again. Save your money! Blue Moon Pizza or Taziki's right around the corner. Food so much better, service actually professional. Don't have time to write everything, but let's just say the manager is not suitable to manage a McDonald's franchise much less a restaurant

Gruby's NY Deli is just what it says it is: it is a deli with the NY attitude. I come here almost weekly now because I have found the pastrami to be something that you just have to have every now and then. Service has been good, and the portions are fair-sized (almost small, but not obscenely huge). Breads, meats, etc. taste authentically New York, and are fresh and flavorful. After about 5 visits I have found it to be highly consistent, solidly good, and fast. If you want to have a quick deli sandwich, or just take a few minutes and hang out with someone over lunch, this hasn't disappointed yet. Pastrami, chips and a drink are about $12 without tip, which does make this more expensive than the "drive through places" but this is not at all in that league. And yes, the pastrami and cole slaw are awesome!

It is a great place to grab a fast bite to eat. The servers are great with always a smile and hello. Never have had anything bad.

When we arrived with our large group (including 4 kids), we found a room full of people in scrubs, noshing away. Alright! That must mean it's a healthy deli, right? This is a nothing-fancy, everything-you-expect-from-a-deli experience. Big menu with silly sandwich names. Multiple permutations of meats, dressings and breads. Rushed, gruff yet still friendly staff. Want a deli? You won't be disappointed. Want to find your doctor at lunchtime and they're not at the nearby hospital? Come here.

REAL NY deli that can't be beat! Great food, sassy staff, decent prices, DID I SAY GREAT FOOD? Wife had a roast beef with slaw on top and I had the Rueben. Onion Rings made to perfection complimented a late day lunch. Not open late, so timing is everything. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Will be back to sample the rest of the menu!

Close by my office have been there 1-2 times and decided to treat my sons to lunch. They enjoyed the food and authenticity of the deli. A nice experience.

I brought my BF here for the first time. He'd been craving corn beef hash and could not find anyone who makes it right in Atlanta. He danced and laughed as he ate his breakfast. I had my usual Greek omelette which is loaded with spinach!!! Love love love this place since 2011!!

This place is an office favorite where I work. They do a great job labeling the containers to keep everyone's order straight. The food is delivered hot and very yummy. The servings are huge. You really feel like you are get to G served from a NY deli. Except this food is even better.

I had a business associate take me to gruby's for lunch. Having just moved here from the NY Metro area it was great to see a good jewish deli locally. The pastrami and corned beef was very good! I am looking forward to trying other menu items. (They also need Dr Browns sodas to make it complete)

For many years, we have been customers of Gruby's, originally in Hilton Head, and for years now in Atlanta. Their food and deli service is great. I miss them now during this pandemic disaster.

I do not really like to write negative about any places, but, this place does not do justice to its location, food or service. Its an average American Deli, but requires a makeover - both w.r.t food as well as atmosphere. Not as pricey ad others, but, hey, we need better food. Hopefully, am the only case where it failed.. good luck!

We stopped in this afternoon for a very late lunch. My wife chose the City Island Salad - a spinach salad with grilled shrimp, coconut, mandarins, and crispy noodles. I ordered the Knish-Knosh - an open faced knish with pastrami, corned beef, kraut, and swiss cheese. Both were excellent!

The sandwich was well proportioned and the bread used was great. The sandwich already came topped with slaw but as my accompanying side, I received more slaw. I asked to swap out the side for cucumber salad and was told, 'No, that's not available.' Rather, I had to purchase an additional cucumber salad side. Will return for take out only.

Gruby's is a family favorite. Classic NY Deli with killer Pastrami. I love the City Salad, which is Spinach, w coconut and Shrimp. Service is always great. You can park in back!

I wanted to find a place that has good NY style sandwiches. I finally found one in Sandy Springs, in The Atlanta area. Gruby's isn't a fancy place, but the sandwiches are that good. I had The Twin Towels (pastrami & corned beef with russian dressing, coleslaw on rye & a pickle). The large is good enough for seconds, I can imagine what's the huge is like. I got there late afternoon, service was good, food, even better. Plenty of free parking and space to dine in or out. Also had the split pea soup, which was very good. I'm going to enjoy new items each time I come back, I plan to be here a lot.

Love everything about this place. Nice people, great food in a deli atmosphere. Love the matzo ball soup and the ny Rueben is exceptional!

We came to this place due to convenience. They have a large, impressive menu of deli sandwiches. Our waiter wasn't very personable/friendly, but was fast and got us taken care of. I had an egg salad sandwich on sourdough. It was good but needed some extra seasoning. A little salt and pepper made it perfect. The slaw that came with it was good and so was the crispy pickle. Another person in our party had a chef salad. It was huge and fresh. She enjoyed it. Overall, the food is a good price for the quality. I would go back for the food, but not necessarily for the customer service.

Came here looking for breakfast, and found it! Great atmosphere, fast service, food is hot and exact order. Next time I will try lunch.

No, it’s not a New York deli! But, it’s the best we got here in Atlanta! The overstuffed NYC sandwiches are light years away, but damn it, Gruby’s still can diminutively satisfy that niche. The corned beef, pastrami, and tongue( when they have it) hits the spot when Brooklyn is a far distance away. And add a little decent cole slaw, potato salad and Russian dressing and your right back in the old neighborhood. So let’s give Gruby’s their just due, and respect the spot as though it was a refreshing oasis in middle of a very dry desert. Joe Freeman

Stopped in here for breakfast Sunday morning on a recommendation. Definitely a new "go to" spot. Our party of four tried, pancakes, corn beef hash, everything bagels, sausage and eggs…everything was hot and delicious. Portions are very large and you want to finish every bite. The restaurant offers a large seating area as well as a counter to order sandwiches to go. Although we didn't get to sample it, the lunch menu looked awesome. Can't wait to visit again.

Definitely average. Near my office and a regular place. Nothing too special one way or the other on this place. Food is fine, staff is fine, wait times are fine, price is fine. Good array of custom sandwiches, though I didn't like the liver sausage one.

Stopped in for lunch on a fairly quiet Saturday. We were seated immediately by a young lady who told us that it was her first day on the job. She was very attentive, and worked with another, more experienced waitress to take our order. Drinks were delivered quickly and the main course soon followed. We tried the corned beef and the pastrami, both on rye bread, and the meat was tender, tasty, and virtually free of fat. The bread was delicious. The french fries come in a large basket and there were enough for the 3 of us. They were clearly fresh cut. Overall, the food was excellent, as was the service. One thing that often escapes servers is friendliness and a smile, but that was not the case here. Service was quick, friendly and with a smile! I will return.

I keep looking since we moved here a couple of years ago so I had high hopes after a strong recommendation. Potato pancakes - It looked like they treated them like Smashburger. They were paper thin and had the consistency of breakfast pancakes. Not to my liking. Corned Beef - This may be a great dinner for St. Patrick's Day but for a NY deli...nah. It was sliced paper thin, spongy and soggy. No rich flavor, just boiled beef. A big positive is I really liked the rye bread. Overall, I give it an average for Atlanta and the search continues.

I recently went to gruby's with my parents. I got the egg cream and it was AMAZING!!!!!! there chocolate chip pancakes are also very good. when you go there, also get there split pea soup! my family loves gruby's!!!!

A perfect place to enjoy a deli delight. Their food and their service are above average and they really care that you enjoy your meal. The wait staff is willing to go out of their way to make sure you know what they have and what you want. Enjoy.

I seen this place while going to St. Joseph. Went back there when my wife went into surgery. I was very impressed with both the food and service.

I've been going to Grubys New York deli for years. I love going for breakfast. The omelets and bagels are fantastic. I've never been for lunch but hear the tongue and pastrami are good.

Closest thing to a deli in Atlanta. Extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items. With a large group, it can be hard to get everything right, but our waitress did an outstanding job! Omelets are good and corned beef sandwiches were excellent. Patio outside that is dog friendly!

This is a consistently good deli . The atmosphere is ok. If you are looking for eggs , omelettes brunch , great corned beef , pastrami sandwiches a must go to. Priced well.Parking can be a problem at certain times.

Their matzoh ball soup is great. I enjoy breakfast here occasionally. They're only open for breakfast and lunch. Wish they opened a little earlier on Saturdays.

I am moving to the area so me and my girlfriend did a little recon work of the resteraunts and deli's in the area and since my girlfriend is a realestate agent in the area she recommended this little gem. I ordered grits, sausage, and cornbeef hash. Before I dive off into how amazing my dish was let me tell you I have been looking for good corn beef hash in Atlanta for years. The corn beef hash was awesome. The sausage caught me off guard. I was expecting a basic sausage, but it was so much more.

With all the ratings I had expected area New York Deli style sand which. Far from it The "Hot Pastrami and muenster" was a cold sandwich with not much meat and NO muenster cheese Fair is fair. The service is excellent. Friendly knowledgeable really customer service oriented but the food was meh at best They did have decent pancakes. But so does IHOP I rarely give less than favorable reviews but this place just didn't cut it. Poor quality food. Small portions for the price Unclean tables. Won't be back .

In spite of some of the negative reviews I have seen on this deli, I have always had a good experience here. This is definitely not the Carnegie Deli but it is a NY style deli experience including some of the wait staff who treat patrons like they are serving in NY. Soups are usually pretty good and my colleagues and I had Split Pea, Mushroom Beef Barley and Chicken Noodle soup. All were quite good were served nice and hot. The sandwich menu is expansive although it appears the portions are somewhat smaller than they once were. I guess profits come before portions. I do like the whitefish and usually take some home for a deli taste at the house. The coffee was hot and fresh and overall we had a good experience. The atmosphere is not intimate and when the place is crowded it is difficult to hear if you are in the main room. Best to sit in the back near the restrooms if you want to have a conversation with your lunch partner.

We started with the mushroom barley soup which was delicious. Then we shared a turkey club. Watching our waistlines. I saw the deli sandwiches corned beef and pastrami and they looked absoluting yummy

We enjoyed our big breakfast. The three egg omelette was delicious and the grits (we were in Atlanta) were just right. bagels were fresh and the cream cheese was generous.

There are some great NY photos and art on the walls which are worth a look! We sat right next to a NYC panoramic that included the Twin Towers: Statue of Liberty to Brooklyn. This place is close to 400 and 285 on Johnson Ferry Road. Extensive deli menu, including many tongue options. Food came quickly. Service was solid. Rueben, Egg Salad sandwich on rye, and coleslaw were good and tasted like a New York deli presentation. General noise level is high so not a great place if you want conversation. At lunch time they are swamped so it must be pretty good! Lunch for two with tip was $24. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

Authentic Rubens, great specials and proper salads. I had a great turkey sandwich and their mandarin salad was so good!!

Enjoyable but I would rave nor would I return too often. Still had a good meal in pleasnat surroundings

Had good lunch with friend. Ordered pastrami sandwich which was very good. Large enough but not too much for lunch. Service was prompt and friendly. Will go back when in area.

Love going there. Reminds me of New York. I try and get a egg cream each time I go. I love their assortment of sandwiches and their soups.

The Stage Deli or Carnegie Deli it is not by a long stretch. The Chicken soup tasted overly watered down and the noodles were not only not fully cooked...they were firm and still stuck together! The open faced turkey sandwich portion size would have made Mayor Bloomberg happy on his quest to keep people from eating too much. At The Stage Deli on 7th Ave, the same item could feed 2-3 people for dinner. Here it was a satisfying lunch for one. The good news is that the price was also scaled down from NY , so not a bad deal in the end. The black & white cookies are amazing though...they got that part right. Glad I tried, but I don't expect I will be returning based on my experience.

A very good college friend picked me up from the airport, and he said, "Where do you want to go for lunch?" On a whim, I said, "How about some Jewish deli." He said, "I have the perfect place." He drove to Gruby's on Johnson Ferry Road. The place was just starting to get busy as it was lunch time. This place was awesome! Amanda, our server, was equally as fabulous. Large turkey sandwich, potato salad that was amazing, and of course, you can't have Jewish deli without a Dr. Brown's. We split a delicious knish as well. He got the reuben and loved it. I would highly recommend this place as the menu is extensive, the service is wonderful, the value of what you're eating for the price you're paying is just excellent. I was going to get the matzoh ball soup, but I was told I wouldn't be able to finish everything. I'll have to return for the soup!

First thing I noticed when I entered the restaurant was the smell of grease. After a while I placed my order, eggs with lox and onion, with side of potatoes. The food did not have correct appearance on the plate: the eggs had a funny color and were oily. The potato chunks were dark brown and appeared to have been re-fried many times. They were just too oily to even taste. The bagel I was served as a side was good. Since I have never been to a NY deli I cannot say this restaurant is the authentic NY deli. I have been eating at deli's all my life in LA, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta and many other cities. Gruby's is one of the worst deli's I have ever been to. ZERO STARS.

We love the Gruby's in Atlanta. The people watching is a good as the food!! I love their Hot Pastrami Sandwich straight up...just the Pastrami and the bread. Gruby's is a favorite for our 21 year old son, who loves the big portions. Can't wait to come back for their breakfast!

It ain't the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan, but it does pretty well for itself. Everything is good and portions are generous. Took my parents there for brunch on Sunday and we all enjoyed it. Kind of loud when it's busy - all hard surfaces, but it was still a good lively place to go for some comfort food. We'll be back!

My husband and I enjoyed eating at Gruby's after a medical appointment in the area. We are originally from New York, and we appreciate a good delicatessen. Gruby's did not disappoint. Although some do not like tongue, I love it, and my sandwich here was wonderful. My husband's corned beef was good, too. We plan to return soon.

we were looking for something new to try and online reviews said Gruby’s was a definite to check out in the Atlanta Perimeter area. we got the open brisket beef sandwich - which came with fries and coleslaw - as well as a potato knish and veggie wrap - got the wrap on a sub roll and substituted coleslaw for the cucumber salad. the cucumber salad was really good and excellent flavor and tasted homemade. the fries were also good and tasted homemade. the brisket was a large portion and had good flavor (tasted like a debris poboy) and the veggie wrap was a large portion and decent - although wished the bell pepper and mushroom had more flavor. it was my first time having a potato knish and it was average. overall huge portions and good food

This establishment is consistently giving customers excellent quality and taste. In all of its selections. I had a bowl of beef , mushroom and barley soup. My wife had a bowl 🍚 of chicken and matza ball soup. Just great food.

I probably would have given it a very good but am knocking it down due to the fact that they automatically add a 20% gratuity. If this was stated on the menu, I did not see it and was not aware until the bill came. Is this common practice in NY and they think it's okay to do here?? Apart from that, our breakfast was good and the service was good (although not 20% good) but I thought the serving sizes were small for what we payed. We came here following an early medical appt. nearby. Will probably choose someplace else next time.
Great NY Style Deli and Bakery
Just off I-285 at Johnson Ferry Rd you get a taste of NY in Hot Atlanta. The brisket sandwich is wonderful and the hand cut fries are excellent. Breakfast is also fantastic. Take out and catering are also available. Portions are huge so if you want to try something else there is plenty to share and you can get one order of onion rings and another of fries.
