Not sure what other reviews say but, this is my second visit here. Coming from Houston I know good food, and this place was great. Handmade frozen margarita’s not mixed in a machine. I highly recommend the Molcajete. Plenty for two people.

Happened to be here for dios de muertos. Stopped in and had one of the best Mexican meals of my whole trip. Would highly recommend this for anyone. Great service also.

Went here with a large group. Delicious Margaritas and appetizers. Had the Chicken Fajitas. Not as good. While they worked their heads off, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. I don't think they planned for that many people and were understaffed. Good food though!

We took my family of 4 to this restaurant because the wait at Casa Rio was too long. While the wait here was minimal, the service was subpar. We didn't get utensils until after we received our dinner....We had to ask for the free chips and salsa...and the wait staff was slow & rude. Disappointing experience overall...

As soon as you walk into this place you will notice they do not take themselves serious except for their food. We had a party of eight so I can't tell you the name of all of the dishes but one was a big pot with seafood, beef & chicken in a soup with cactus that serves two. My wife and I ordered tortilla soup which for me is an indicator of whether they know how to serve Mexican cuisine or not. The soup was a vegetable with corn base served with a plate of tortilla strips, avocado, sour cream and shredded chicken so you can add these ingredients to taste. It was excellent along with the supreme nachos to round out our lunch. Dessert was made fun by the staff for our son asked to be surprised so they put on a show of heating up a brandy glass rimmed with sugar, adding a little tequila until it caught a flame, then added cinnamon, sizzled some Kahlua in a red hot ladle before adding it to the glass then topping off with vanilla ice cream and more flaming liquor. Everyone knew that our next stop on the Riverfront was going to be downhill after our experience here. It couldn't be topped and made our day! Will return on next visit to San Antonio

Well I came for Niosa on thursday June 24th 2021 and had a few drinks. I had gotten there early so I had a table for my frinds who were going to show up upstairs. Dj was great Vibe was awesome I was in the Fiesta spirit. I get a text from one of my coworkers telling me he is lost and is downstairs Llittle did he know there is a different entrance for the upstairs so I went downstairs to get him. As soon as I see my coworker I tried calling his name and waive at him when all of a sudden this arrogant bully rent a cop pushed me and hit me really hard. That was really unnecessary he was accusing me of being drunk. I looked at him straight at his left eye and told him he was absolutely wrong about that. I asked him why he pushed me he couldnt answer me but he then squeezed my arm really hard and literally told me i was cutoff and to close my tab. I went to SAPD officer and he basically told me those security officers are giving them a bad rep. the night before that same police officer witnessed a different incicident involving a female being pushed really hard. This was my 1st bad experience with this establishment. He bruised my arm I decided to take a picture. Someone with high authority should put this jerk in his place. No reason for him to engage with paying customers like that.

This is such a fun place! Lots to look at. My meal was excellent, my waiter attentive (but not too) and informative, and prices were good. I liked that it was off the Riverwalk. I would go back for sure!

Stopped for lunch. Split a Mexican plate. Both enchiladas were good. Tostada just ok. Flautas likely frozen and heated. Other sides were like most mexican fare. Margaritas were average Service was prompt and courteous. Overall grade C+++, but not a B

Given the way the world is at this time, I believe we all need some peace and tranquility and we deserve a good meal, well this is not it. I am giving you all the best advice just to go to any other place. The nachos were absolutely disgusting, not sure what cheese, beans, chicken etc is used but it looks like prison food. I would know trust me. The rice has no color and tastes bland. The queso flameado doesn’t even taste like cheese, it’s almost as if you try to make an over easy egg that’s exactly what this is. Not to mention I ordered a margarita and it was absolutely not worth the money. I am trying to be nice to the rest of you and give you a honest review and never come here. Thank you

With this restaurant being very well located, and right outside the La Villita area, my family member and I decided to stop here for dinner. Upon entering you can tell it is a historic building, and the decor here has a lot of character, definitely a one-of-a-kind look. I thought it was nice to have a change in scenery rather than the usual restaurant look. Anyways, it took a minute to be seated, I believe the owner or co-owner seated us, and was back quickly to get our drink orders. The service provided was pretty good, but definitely could use to have been a little more consistent, especially when doing things like topping off beverages. The food came out pretty quickly, but when it arrived it was not too impressive sadly. My chicken on my fajitas was pretty dry, and didn't have too much flavor, everything here seemed to be a little under seasoned though. Definitely not the best I've had, but not the worst either. I think this restaurant is a popular bar spot, I;ve heard good things about the beverages too, though my family member nor I drink alcohol, so I cannot comment on that. In the end, I think if you are going for the bar, I think this is a great place, but if you are going for the food this is a place I'd recommend skipping. There is definitely room for improvement, but this is not the worst place in San Antonio. I likely will not be returning here though, as I feel there is better food elsewhere.

One of our favorite places!! Food is great, staff is friendly!! Met the owner would gave us a special drink! Everyone should try this place.

Maybe I was there at the wrong time. There were many people there with not as many servers as might have been needed. I ordered the fish tacos. The fish was good. The tortillas were a little stale, but that may have been because there were so many people there. They were extremely nice, just overloaded.

The food was colorful and full of flavor. The dessert options tasted great. I was able to order to go and it did not take long for my food to get to my table at all. I’m glad that I stopped in for a meal.

I started with a great marg with chips and salsa. For the main I had the carnitas. That too was good although a little bland. Service was very good.

Very good Mexican Food. My wife loved the mole and kept using the tortillas to sop up the sauce. Salsa was spicy but soooo tasty. Taco salad w chicken fajita was great— I think the chicken was as delicious as any I have had. Cheaper than the riverwalk so really good value.

I stopped at this restaurant because it was near my hotel and not too crowded. I'm glad I did. The bar tender was friendly and helpful and the staff was all very attentive. I only had the tortilla soup but it was very yummy and reasonable priced!

This is one of the best places that we visited while in San Antonio. The Pineapple Margarita was excellent. They also had a good selection of beer and other drinks. The food in here was also very good. It is in the La Villita area.

We stumbled onto this little restaurant around lunch time while touring the La Villita arts area. There weren't many folks in the restaurant and we hadn't read any reviews so we weren't sure what to expect. It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The service was good and the food was fantastic, with complex flavors in the dishes. We later ate at a highly-recommended and very busy tex-mex cafe but felt their flavors weren't nearly as good as the Guadalajara Grill.

Great food. A good chicken mole is hard to find in the U.S., but Guadalajara does a great one. Large portions and margarita drinks are well done the way you like them -- and huge. Super location in La Villita. Service was prompt and friendly.

Upstairs was the area for friends wedding party reception. Plenty of room with stage for entertainment, and bar area. Back room down hall was the buffet. Delicious Mexican food. Only one table and bartenders received the appetizers, so cant tell you about them. Building looks old and historical for the La Villita area.

The food I ordered tasted as if it was reheated more than once. I ate it because I was hungry but wouldn’t go back or recommend it to anyone. We only ordered two items and one alcoholic drink and paid 50.00 before tip. I don’t know if the prices are not correct on the menu but just wanted to leave and paid it. The only reason I gave it two stars was because we ate outside and had a nice set up.

Located just off the Riverwalk near La Villita, this restaurant & bar offers not only the typical Mex-Tex offerings like every other place in San Antonio, but also offers some more traditional Mexican plates such as Pibil, Chile Relleno, and molcajete. They also offer a few lamb dishes. On this evening, we had guacamole that is made at the table to your liking and a dish of chicken in Oaxacan mole sauce. The guacamole was very nice, and the mole chicken was flavorful departure from the mex-tex meals we had elsewhere in San Antonio. Service was good, and the ambiance was quirky Mexican.

Stopped in for lunch. Nice folks there. Food nothing special. Certainly not what I would refer to as authentic Mexican. F

Not great food - the chicken poblano sauce was watery and did not have good flavor (bitter) that neither of us finished our plate. The table was so bent and sloped that the sauce almost spilled onto the table when we were served. Service was mediocre.

This was the first restaurant we saw as we were walking toward the riverwalk while waiting for our hotel room. The menu seemed good enough, but I should have known by the empty seats. The service was bad the food was awful and the tortilla soup was the worst I've ever had. There are many better options very close by.

I'm a local resident and I know Mexican food. The chicken fajitas were fabulous. Expect a wait on holidays but worth it.

I am by no means picky about food. So to find something that's not even edible is almost impossible. We had the pork carnitas, no flavor and tough. The chips were passible but the salsa was way too hot and no alternatives. Waiter knocked over my daughters water. Major wet lap.

Maybe we were there on an off night, but this is the worst Mexican restaurant we've ever been to. The chips were stale and the margaritas were small, overpriced ($8-$9), and sub-par (we wouldn't be surprised if the bartender forgot to put in tequila judging by the taste). It took a long time to get our food and they weren't very busy. The quesadilla was borderline inedible and I'm pretty sure it had not been grilled. My fiance just wanted a side of Mexican rice for which they charged $4 for a tiny serving. Wait staff was hit or miss. Easily the worst place we ate at during our four days in San Antonio.

The waiters are a bit of a double act. One has a wicked humour that could cross the line but didn't. The other makes a mean guac in front of you. The baked cheese dish was very good too. And the salsa just spicy enough. Was a nice afternoon in a deserted part of town.

So good we went twice first for lunch then for the last night dinner. the shrimp tostadas are marvelous and the best margaritas we had in San Antonio.

I have never visited a Mexican Restaurant a second time in two days. However, at this place, the food was so much better than the food on the River Walk that I had to visit it again. The service was a little slow, but that is because it isn't fast food like some of the other places in San Anton. We loved it and will go back if ever in San Anton.

We stopped in after walking around la villita. We came in for dinner around 5:30-6 and they weren't too busy, the decor was fun and have us plenty to read while waiting for our food. I had a piña colada that was fantastic! We had fish tacos and tortilla soup. The food was excellent and authentic. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us some advice on places to go.

My wife and I just wanted to get a light dinner. We wanted some chili con queso and a couple ground beef tacos. No problem with the queso, but tacos? Oh my gosh.. "you mean like "a-la-cart?" Our waitress had to go check with someone else to see if they could even do that! She finally came back and said that tacos would be $4.75. I asked for how many.. that was the price for each! Ok.. so never mind on the tacos. We had our queso, which was very good, and each had a drink. Never once did our waitress come back to check on us. I had to grab a guy walking buy to ask for my bill.! I assumed he'd get our waitress to bring it.. wrong.. she was too busy "literally running" down the isle doing something else! Finally, yet another person brought our bill. Over $30 for queso and two margaritas, no extra charge for the pissy service. So.. typically, I don't like to give negative reviews.. but these guys deserved this one. Maybe you're experience will be better.

Three of us visited for lunch today. The restaurant was not very full, at least when we arrived. We ordered fast and were served within ten minutes. My grandson enjoyed playing snakes and ladders while we waited for our food. We enjoyed a quesadilla and an enchilada, while our grandson had the chicken strips. The waitstaff was attentive. We would have liked to have sampled the desserts, but we did not have the time. We would definitely return if we were in San Antonio again. We liked the artsy area, and the proximity to Hemisfair Park.

We walked into this restaurant over heated and exhausted. Our waiter, who I refer to as Prince Charming, got us a good table, and saw that we had water right away. We also ordered a Jack Frost cocktail and a Mojito, both very good. The salsa was roasted and delicious, we also had a quesadilla with shredded chicken.

In the bustle of downtown there is this one restaurant which always reminds me of our reliable local Mexican restaurant. They probably don’t recognize ay returning tourists, but the always treat you as if they see you every week. I highly recommend this place

My wife and I were in town for a weekend getaway in San Antonio on the Riverwalk. We first tried to hit another popular Mexican food place directly on the Riverwalk, but the wait list was so long they actually stopped taking any more names (Saturday night). We decided to try out Guadalajara Grill, which was only about 2 blocks away. We were able to get a seat right away, although they were very busy and people behind us did have to wait at least a short time. Everybody who helped us was very friendly. They actually ran out of tortilla chips, so we couldn't get chips and salsa...not sure exactly how that happens on a Saturday night at a Mexican food place - and that is the main reason my rating wasn't a 5. We ordered margaritas (which were good - nothing exceptional) and nachos (which ended up taking a very long time since they were out of chips and had to make more and were also nothing exceptional, but above average). We were not in a hurry, so it wasn't a big deal and we drank several margaritas while waiting. This is a good place to go while near the Riverwalk to avoid the big crows right ON the Riverwalk. Food was above average, drinks were average, service was really friendly, and the place was fun. If we go back to the Riverwalk in the area we will eat there again.

not friendly. not open at stated opening time. women bartender told me to come back in five minutes. small amount of salsa given. guacamole tableside is sub par

The location is good, and the outdoor seating area was pleasant although it needed to be cleaned up a little bit. The food was good but not great. There were 4 of us, and we all felt similarly about our meals. Nothing to complain about necessarily but wouldn't rave about it either.

Came here for lunch based on other reviews. Definitely was not disappointed. Food was excellent and service was adequate. Very interesting location with all of the artist shops.

The house specialty is Molcajete and it was worth the price for two. Excellently prepared. Service was good but we waited a loooong time for the food as it was home-cooked. If you’d like a leisurely meal I recommend this restaurant.

Place was full when we arrived which we thought meant it would be good. Waited behind a family of five to be seated and only got seated when the family told us about a table for two available and waved us through. Same family wasn't seated until at least 30 mins later. Good food, we both had tacos and they were tasty but took a bit to get our food and second round of drinks, and waited a long time for our bill. Not sure if they may have been understaffed that day. I'd give the food three stars, but service was 1 star.

The location is convenient to the Alamo and plaza for shopping. Food is tasty and is served quickly.

The food was very ordinary. I had the burrito and it was overloaded with cheese should have been served hot, not lukewarm. My wife did enjoy her fish selection. The restaurant wasn't very full, yet the service was slow. Prices were OK. Beverage refills were never offered. I was expecting more than I received on multiple levels

We stopped in here while on the return bus journey after visiting 3 of the Missions and seeing La Villita signposted. It was around 2:00 PM and we were seated immediately. My wife got the Lamb Mixiote while I had the Enchiladas Verde. The food was pretty tasty. We split a good flan for dessert. Prices were reasonable. Service was friendly.

The first thing I noticed was the smell...the general setup for this place is horrible. They actually have the audacity to have a sign hanging by the bar saying people can open a franchise store with them... Wait staff barely has the energy/motivation to actually do their job. Their facial expressions should tell you everything you need to know about their work environment and management. The 0.3 mile walk from my hotel was more than this place deserved. I hope they are gone soon and replaced by someone that wants to succeed.

Worst restaurant I have ever eat. I don't like to give bad reviews and honestly I feel bad for the owner, but we were a large group and spend su much money in there that I don't think it was fair with us to had such a bad experience. First the drinks; the sangria I ordered was to bitter, the beer was barely cold. The food: I ordered the carnitas, which had an ok taste, however the size of the sides in the plate were ridiculously tiny, I swear the amount of rice could've been as much as two table spoons. My brother in laws rice was cold as it was sitting on the counter for years, after we complained they brought more rice that looked re heated, but was enough to share with me since I got almost no rice. My husband and I ordered a chicken tortilla soup that never came. We told the server and he brought it at the end, still we tried it; it was awful! It looked and taste like water with achiote and no more on it. The soup came with the chicken on the side. This was the worst part of the overall experience; the chicken was so few that we thought they mistakenly brought us a plate with leftovers from other table (or maybe it was, which doesn't make me feel better), we weren't even sure if that was chicken, so we asked the server if that supposed to be there, then he explained it is the chicken that came with the dish. Overall experience was awful, the service was ok, we wait too much time for the food to be served. We were so disappointed and complain with the manager, they didn't charge for the soup and drinks ( we did have to pay for the alcohol) however it wasn't enough to make us feel better after such a horrible experience.

The restaurant is conveniently located in the La Villita section of the Riverwalk. Given the later hour, we might have been the only customers. The server was reasonably friendly and attentive (but not overly so). Unfortunately, they were out of the item that most attracted us (tuna quesadilla). Nevertheless, the food was good and fairly priced. Overall a fairly good experience.

This was a nice place to eat. We sat out on the patio since we had such a large group and was able to eat and people watch. Nice atmosphere, great wait staff.

Chips were cold. Salsa was watery. Carnitas were cubed and tasteless. Rice was old and dusty. Saw servers dig through pick de Gallo with their hands. Run away from this restaurant.

When our meeting planner set up a meal for 30 of her closest friends, we found out about the Guadalajara Grill! This small, cleverly decorated little restaurant hardly looked like they could handle a crowd like that, but we found out they could...and do it delightfully. Our gracious Guadalahara host, Willie, was amazing; he personally welcomed and spoke to virtually every one of the 26 who showed up. He prepared gobs of guacamole tableside with flair and took orders, along with a very efficient waitress (whose name, I am ashamed to say, I did not get) took the orders off of their very interesting menu consisting of at least 4 dishes I had never heard of previously. Service was fast and proficient. The Tacos Cancun that I ordered were truly the best Mexican dish I have ever tasted. My husband had the Queso Flameado appetizer which was prepared flambeau on the table. He loved the chorizo sausage. Willie visited personally with several individual diners, then continued the show by preparing his "very sexy coffee" for two of our group. You cannot go wrong in visiting this quaint little wonderland when in San Antonio.

We were looking to get away from the crowds of the Riverwalk restaurant area, and found Guadalajara Grill on the edge of the historic La Villita shops area, and about a quarter-mile walk from the Tower of the Americas. Guadalajara Grill's decor is very much like any number of Mexican restaurants, but it somehow seemed more authentic and less contrived. If the weather had been less hot, it would have been lovely to eat outside in the front patio area. They have all the usual Mexican fare, but I recommend trying one of the "Guadaljara Favorites". I finally broke out of my fajitas habit, and went for the Cochinita Pibil and was not disappointed, totally cleaning my plate. As did four other people in my party. Another ordered the Carnitas Guadalajara and pronounced it perfect, just like he grew up with in New Mexico and made himself in his transplanted New England home. For dessert, three who ordered the flan were well pleased. The only disappointment was the sopapilla & ice cream. The sopapillas were tough and flat, suggesting they had been microwaved. Best of all were the prices, a relief from the high prices of the Riverwalk restaurants. Service was very friendly and helpful.

Met family for lunch, we were a large party (recommend you call ahead), Willie makes fresh guacamole & salsa at your table! We order the mocajete... this is something you HAVE to experience and try! In a great location and downtown near everything!

We showed up late-ish on a Friday night (nine pm?) and were warmly welcomed. Excellent margaritas, drinks came very quickly. Delicious salsa and chips. We split a chicken taco plate and enjoyed out meal. Our waiter and someone who I think was the manager gave us fantastic service. I would go back again.

Dit mexican grill restaurant is great. De place looks pretty eclectic on the inside. Service is great and very friendly. The burger is the best i've eaten in quite some time. But i'm quite confident dat the other food is also good. Recommended!

This restaurant is in the La Villita Village as you walk out of the Riverwalk. We sat outside. The weather was great for outdoor. We ordered our drinks which came quickly. The food was also delicious and very filling. The waiters were very good. Order the Molcajete. This was the best and very much enjoyed. Five stars for that.

The staff are friendly and attentive. We came back for the Molcajete. This dish is so good. We have recommended it to several people.

Great food and friendly service. This isn't the Tex-Mex food you find on the Riverwalk. I always look forward to this place every time I visit San Antonio.

Every year, my son and I attend a convention and every year we laugh about the one horrible meal we end up eating. Well this restaurant wins the prize. Terrible food. The staff was apologetic and nice but wow the food was bad. I’m from Texas and I think it’s hard to get really bad Mexican food. I ordered very safe on the menu with a Chicken quesadilla and we shared some queso. Chicken was dark meat chicken and had a bone in it - seriously. Who makes quesadillas with wing meat and bones. Save that for the manudo. Anyway the queso was lumpy and tasted spoiled. My son had beef fajitas and the flank steak was tough and tasteless. Again - they apologized and took my food off the bill. Every restaurant can have a bad day but this was really bad.

We had our 40-year class reunion and it was everyone’s first time to San Antonio! We all love the venue upstairs and the food was delicious . Tina the event manager is awesome! She was helpful and accommodating and help make our event enjoyable and memorable! We will be back!

Rude rude rude! We got in late on a sunday evening and were just looking for a family friendly restaurant. This place had a good vibe and wasnt busy so we popped in. Now I see why they werent busy. We were one of the two parties eating there. Our water wasnt filled and our server didnt smile even once. The food was just ok. Way overpriced considering the service. Wish we would have gone elsewhere for our first night in san antonio.

They have some of the best hot salsa I've ever eaten. Quesadillas are a great lunch option. Guacamole was fresh and is great with Pico mixed in.

This is a simple and inexpensive order-at-the-counter cafe, but the food is tasty. Breakfast can be ordered at anytime, and the breakfast tacos are pretty good. You can sit outside and enjoy the quaint village sites--quite nice on a warm day.

Great resturant! Short walk from River walk for authenic mexican food. Had the Molcajete which is a hotpot of chicken, beef shrimp fajitas except in a soup with cheese and poblanoes. Served with tortillias and a small espresso cup that you drink the soup. For two persons.

Excellent meal. The beef enchiladas were terrific with a unique flavor. The chicken fajita salad was super. Highly recommend.

We were starving and stumbled here for lunch. Food had little flavor, service was poor, and the place was dirty. I wish I had not eaten here and ate the granola bar I had in my purse.

Just got into town and this was the first place I saw open, and I like my Mexican food! Thursday night, around 7, and the place was pretty slow. As I was a single I sat at the bar. Started with a margarita that was just ok. I was brought some chips and salsa. The salsa had a nice kick, tasted homemade and was excellent cept it was served with chips that had been a round a bit. Ordered an enchilada trio which came with rice, beans and some fixings that was very very good. Service was ok, but wasn’t very attentive. All in all, I would recommend as the meal itself made up for the minor things

We decided to try this quaint place, as it looked interesting and not like a tourist trap. We were ignored by staff for about 8 minutes while we waited to find out how to get seated. Eventually a very apathetic man took us outside to a table. He promptly took out drink order and the disappeared for 15 minutes. After the drinks came, he disappeared again for another 15 minutes before taking our order. It was an hour and half before some of our food came. After two hours, one of us had not yet been served, so we asked for the check. They tried to charge us for the meal never received, but took it off after I requested. The food (that came) was OK, but not worth the ordeal it took to get these zombies who work there to wake up and recognize they have a job to do.

They don't care about the food because they don't think tourists care about the food because they aren't locals. I have had way better pork tacos, but the guacamole wasn't bad. Husband didn't like the tortilla soup. We had to get snacks elsewhere after $54 because we weren't full. Disappointed.

We ended up here because the restaurants down on The Riverwalk had 45 minute waits and this restaurant had open tables since it is above The Riverwalk. We were greeted by friendly waiters with water and house made chips and salsa that were delicious. We had the queso appetizer along with chicken mole, crispy and soft tacos and enchiladas. Everything tasted fresh. I like my dishes a little spicier, so next time I will probably request the chef make mine spicier, but it was still delicious.

I love Mexican food but the chili relleno was not cooked enough. The pepper was big and stuffed with cheese and nicely breaded but the chili itself was hard as a rock making it pretty much inedible. The beans were excellent but the rice was bland. My friend had the two beef tacos which I wish I had ordered. She too loved the beans and tacos and just about drank the salsa that came with the chips. Two stars because the staff was unorganized and service was sporadic. Worst part was you couldn't carry on a conversation due to high noise level inside. Would sit outside next time and order the tacos and pray for better service.

I have always made a stop here when in San Antonio, mostly for the food which is always great. Weather we have 2 of us or 20 they are always prompt and courteous. This visit we were the first in the door for the day. With the whole bar to ourselves we decided to start with the Perfect Margarita and we had the friendly face of Letty our bartender ready and more than capable to satisfy our Tequila needs. One of the most refreshing margaritas I have had to date. Of course the Chorizo laden Queso flameado helped to balance the entire event. I strongly recommend this place when in the Villeto area of the riverwalk.

When my wife and I looked over the Guadalajara Grill menu, we expected to see the same old, boring Tex-Mex items. To our suprrise, the menu included a couple of Old Mexico dishes: Mixiote (a babacoa of lamb & pork wrapped & steamed in parchment paper) and Chicken Cilantro (marinated chicken breast topped with a blended cilantro sauce). My wife ordered this and she absolutely loved it. When I asked the waitress about the preparation of the dish, she gladly described the ingredients that make it special and unique. I had the Mixiote, a dish that I've had only in the interior of Mexico. Kudos to the chef for making dishes not commonly found in most Mexican-American restaurants.

We try and stop by here each time we visit San Antonio. Glad they are open but were disappointed in the high beer prices. Especially during this tough time. Understand the need to make a profit but do feel 6.25 for draft beer is expensive. Might sell more if the price was lowered and advertise this outside the bar on the sidewalk. Enjoyed talking with the owner.

I went there with an uncle, to have some drinks and eat , waiters are just great and always asking if there is something else we need, food is awesome and the place has a mexican cantina look a like, great place to spend some time to relax.

My husband stumbled on this restaurant when we were looking for an open restaurant with dine in available during Covid times. Willy the owner was amazing and made suggestions for food and drink and everything was amazing and delicious!!! Their specialty is Molcajete and I would highly recommend trying it.

We were on our way to another restaurant for lunch/early dinner, decided to check out La Villita first, and found this gem! Soooo friendly, to all of the customers!! Tasty food; we liked everything we ate! There is a lot to see inside, and I don’t think we even noticed all of it! Great staff, tasty food, ensured we were enjoying our meal, and very easy to find. This is definitely my ‘go to’ place for every visit at San Antonio.

Fantastic evening! The food is so good and the Mojitos are amazing! I enjoyed the Shrimp tostadas and a side of beans. Such a wonderful staff too - they really made me feel at home. The restaurant was on the quieter side tonight which was a shame because they make some seriously great drinks! I look forward to going back.

My wife and I recently had lunch in this restaurant. We actually have been there before but it's been several years. The service is excellent. The whole staff is attentive and our waiter was very funny and nice. The food is typical Tex-Mex and done very well. My wife very much enjoyed the carnitas, and I had the chile relleno, which was delicious. The ambience is festive, and they have an abundance of wall decorations, some bearing silly witticisms. It is located in La Villita, and not far from the Riverwalk, and downtown.

We were in San Antonio for the holiday boat parade and found the Guadalajara Grill in the La Villita section of San Antonio. We caught them on a bad night and they advised that the kitchen was very slow and that food orders could take as long as an hour and a half to serve. We were hungry but also hadn’t seen each other in a while so we said we would wait. It turned out that they had several no-shows in the kitchen but were very up front about the situation. They have us plenty of chips and salsa to keep us until the food arrived. While the food took a while, it was served in about 45 minutes or about half of their estimate. Once received, everyone enjoyed their food and we all left smiling. I was impressed twitch how the staff dealt with a difficult situation. We would come back!

Having an early dinner here today. We're already looking for where we can go later for a bit to eat. The service is not very friendly. No one ever asked if we wanted another cup of coffee or tea. They just removed the cups. They took a plate away before my husband was finished eating. The black bean soup was bland and thin. The fish taco was.... where is the rest? The salsa is too spicy and the corn chips are thick and stale. Go to Rosario's instead. There you will find really good everything! Don't come here.

We ate here twice on our trip to San Antonio. Stumbled on this location by accident. Authentic Mexican. Great atmosphere. Delicious!

We always try to eat at least one new place when visiting San Antonio. Guadalajara Grill was recommended by a friend, and boy, was he right! It's in La Villita which makes it walking distance for anyone staying in the Riverwalk area. We came at lunch time and sat outside on a warm, sunny February day, which is in itself a pleasure as we live in upstate NY. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent! I got the soup and taco combination. I chose chicken tortilla soup and a carnitas taco. They were prepared to my request of no pico de gallo and no cilantro. Both were excellent. One of my dining companions had the enchilada combo, the other the taco combo each served with refried beans and rice. The one negative comment was that the enchiladas were not very meaty. Guadalajara grill not only brings complimentary chips and salsa to the table, but also warm flour tortillas with the meal. I would whole-heartedly recommend Guadalajara Grill.

We stopped here to eat on a whim as we were walking around San Antonio. The food was excellent and the service was even better. We had our two kids with us 9 and 11 and they liked it too. All of our meals were good. I would recommend.

I was here for a conference and I got in to the hotel late the first night SO I went here because I didn't want to go ALL over town for dinner when I had to get up early in the AM. I read the online reviews and I got a recommendation from ahotel worker. The first night the house margarita was pretty good although they put TOO much salt on the rim after I asked for ONLY a little. The fajitas were pretty good when I got the shrimp although they were prohibitively expensive. I came back LATE from a meeting at the conference and decided to give the place a second chance which was a MISTAKE. It seems like they were out to get even for my complainning. The margarita I got had enought salt for a saltlick even though I asked for minimal; they slipped it in by placing it on the INSIDE of the rim. The shrimp special dish listed vegetables in the platter SO I GUESS they counted ALL the OLIVES and the side of BREAD as veggies. I wanted dessert JUST to get the taste out of my mouth BUT the FLAN tasted storebought. NOT coming back.

Amazing food appeared to be a family owned and operated restaurant. The atmosphere very homey and relaxing but fun. We love it!

Hands down, the worst Mexican food I've ever had in my life. I ordered the tacos and got served some dried out meat substance resembling dog food. I never send food back, but this stuff wasn't edible. Don't waste your money. You'd be better off going to Taco Bell over this place. Absolutely horrible.

The ambiance is unique & fun. I could see how a visit for drinks would be a good time. The salsa is spicy and chips fresh. The Bloody Mary I ordered tasted like watered-down tomato flavored lime juice and had very little alcohol. The food was good but lacked bold flavors (we all wound up asking for extra salsa to put on our food). Our biggest complaint was the VERY slow service that only seeemed to be occurring at just our table. Everyone around us (including people who came in and ordered after us) got their food before us...and some had already been able to eat and leave before we got our orders. I'd go back for a beer and that awesome salsa, but I'd sit and the bar, and get my food elsewhere.

Horrible service. Took almost an hour for food to come and we never got chips and salsa. The food tasted good but didn’t make up for the long a** wait. Don’t recommend if you are really hungry and don’t have an hour plus of time to waste on eating for food.

We were searching for a restaurant to pique our eating interest on the River Walk when we decided to leave the walk and check out La Villita. We liked the prices so we entered. Disclaimer: I have a cold and don't have my full range of taste. I can only describe what my partner stated. He had the pork piblis, a dish he'd never had before. It was delicious. I tried it but all I can really say is that it was cooked to perfection. Even though it looks like a tourist trap, the prices were reasonable and the food spicy and satisfying. I'd bring friends here if I lived in town.

Having spent 3 days in San Antonio and tried many of the restaurants for a quick beer and snacks. I would highly recommend this spot for authenticity and value for money. The staff are not in your face, the quality of the food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect.

Nice little place off the beaten path in Villita Historical Arts Village. The place looks like something right out of History. Staff was super friendly. I got the Queretaro Steak which was cooked perfect and for a skirt steak was very tender. Great Portion Sizes for the Prices, Food was Delicious. Decent Pour with the Whiskey on Ice. Great Atmosphere, funny signs to read all over the walls and ceilings, outdoor seating on the nice weather days. Only complaint I would have to say is the Owner showed up at the end of my meal and he must have been in a bad mood. Sounded like he was telling his staff everything they were doing wrong, the whole Vibe of the room went down. He wouldn't even let my server give me or take care of my check. After I finished paying him I had to go out of my way to thank my server for the experience. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and this was a one off. But I will definitely be a regular here for Future trips.

I went alone and asked for a table. They wanted to seat me at the bar, but it was empty and didn't look inviting. They then let me sit at a table. A couple of minutes later, they told me that I could only eat at the bar because a group was coming in half an hour. I am sure that other diners would have finished up in the next 30 minutes and made a table available. As I walked out, I saw that there were already 2 tables that had emptied out in the few minutes I was inside. Never before has any restaurant denied me a table as a solo customer nor asked me to leave after seating me.

Great HOT salsa delivered to the table and refilled on request. Enjoyed the beef taco plate and the shrimp quesadilla on the second trip. To this place in as many days.

Small place off the Riverwalk. Appears to have been around a long time. Fajitas were good, margaritas just ok. Will do in a pinch but nothing special.

We wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant from what we usually visit, so we tried Guadalajara bar and grill, that was the worse decision ever, first of all most of the staff is rude as heck! The food portions are small, and the food is not all that great. And to top it all off we found a hair in our food, when we went to talk to the manager or owner, what ever he was, he was rude about it! On our way out we noticed the cook had a full blown beard that made Grizzly Adams beard look weak!! He was wearing no hair net or something on his beard to protect the hair from falling into the food . We will never visit this place again! It is discussing and gross!!!! Stay away from this place!!

A horrible place with terrible service. A big mistake walking to this place. Very slow service and the food is "fast food" at a gourmet price. Salsa came from a jar.

Food was okay but both husband & I had GI issues that night and the next day. Resolved after about 24 hrs. Brother & Sister-in-law also had some GI issues.

I honestly could not have more nice things to say about this place. This was the first place I went went I got to San Antonio and the waitstaff was so nice and the food was incredible. It really set the tone for my entire trip. I was taking a picture at the bar and a man came out and got me a sombrero to wear. This is my most memorable experience in San Antonio.

Margarita choices are basic but I upgraded to Don Julio Repasado instead of silver. I had the Mexican Combo with beef and chicken enchiladas (topped pollo with mole sauce), chicken flauta, bean tostada, rice and beans (small portions). Chips and hot salsa served too. More Mexican than TexMex so I was pleased. Tried Sopappias with ice cream (very doughy and not crispy like normal and scoop was more like tablespoon of ice cream). More like aloud bar than a restaurant. Outdoor seating overlooking River Walk area.

My favorite restaurant in San Antonio! This place is a must go! I highly highly recommend it! The Molcajete is the best item in the menu but everything else is really good! Best drinks around too! Its a must!!! After 8years of visiting SA, we have to eat there! Best of the best!!!

There are so many Mexican restaurants in San Antonio that it is almost mind-boggling! Forget trying to figure out which has the best food and go to this casual and comfortable spot adjacent to historic La Villita with some friends and have a good time! The menu choices are plentiful, the food is good, and the beer and margaritas are cold! The decor is a little funky and lighthearted and you avoid the crowds and cheesiness that is on the Riverwalk. What are you waiting for?

The food and service were both great. We had margaritas and sangria. Both were delicious and not too strong or too weak. In addition to the “normal” Tex-Mex food they had some unique menu items. We loved everything we ate. The food is a little spicy, but it was delicious. This is definitely somewhere we would come back to.

This was always a must stop when we are in San Antonio. Sadly, this time the food was not up to par as in past visits. The chips tasted as if they had been cooked in old grease. The entrees were ok, but not much flavor. Hopefully next time it will be better.

We stopped in here for lunch while visiting San Antonio and were not disappointed. I had the best Michelada here. Great spices without being just hot. The salsa was the same. Actually all of the food hd great flavor, good use of spices and fresh. Good value for the cost. We wish the Mexican restaurants at home were more like Guadalajara Grill.

Stopped in for drinks after shopping at La Villita Arts Village down the street. This is about a 10 minute walk from Alamo Square. The server was very friendly and made her special sangria cocktail for us. Delicious! The prices were reasonable. Very colorful interior, with tables also outside. Definitely worth a stop in.

It was a horrible service. The food portions were small which was a good thing because it made us sick later in the day.....poor service and careless staff will drive the owner out of business. We live and work only blocks away.

This was a fun, low-key dinner with nice staff and good food. The margaritas were also pretty good, too. Very colorful decor and an all-around nice dinner with authenticity.

Stopped in for an early dinner after spending the day on the Riverwalk. Great dinner and fast friendly service.

We ordered nachos to share. Beans had zero flavor. The serving size was OK for the price. It was nice to sit outside and people watch. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary, another OK. We waited 10+ minutes for our check and it wasn't even busy. Our server pretty much acted like he didn't want to be there, serving anyone. We would not come back considering there are so many other options in San Antonio.

**Added themselves a $40 tip FRAUDEULENTLY on my card** THIS WAIT-STAFF IS HORRID!!! Had to ask for items repeatedly, didn't get half the stuff we asked for... & even worse they brought our food out 15minutes apart (from first person to last)--So we really didn't even get to eat as a family (only 5 of us)! I went to inform the manager, he told me "well, you have everything NOW don't you? It's there NOW, isn't it?" Very rudely... I told them this is not how a restaurant should run, & that the service rendered was unacceptable- She told me "NO- YOU SUCK!" They absolutely refused to do ANYTHING- a comp, 1meal free, ANYTHING! We badly wanted to "dine & dash", but that's not how we roll... So we decided to pay the $122 bill & leave this POS, OBVIOUSLY no tip... Checked bank account next morning, $165 charge!!!!

Both times I've eaten here, I was exhausted from a long day walking, or at an event. It always seemed relaxing, and the food was very good. I would definitely recommend it.

We have long been fans of the Guadalajara Grill and fell in love with this restaurant chain while living in San Diego...enjoying their food in both San Diego and in Tijuana. Lunch at their San Antonio location was greatly anticipated! It turned out to be a huge disappointment. The tortilla chips brought to the table were good, but the salsa that accompanied was fiery hot and, for me, inedible. We both ordered tortilla soup...very salty and otherwise tasteless. The conchinita pibil had a good taste but was soupy and salty, and the pork was small chunks rather than shredded. The biggest disappointment was the carnitas taco, described as "skillet roast pork" but was cubes of pork that could only have been oven roasted and without any taste whatsoever. I ate half a taco (2 were on the plate) and decided to go back to the tasteless soup. The cost of lunch was just under $50 for 2 soups, 2 lunch plates, 1 iced tea and 1 club soda...rather high, but in a very touristy area so perhaps that explains it. Not worth a visit!

The Guadalajara Grill is just off the Riverwalk and was just what we were looking for. A lot of the restaurants (ok, all) we saw right on the Riverwalk were... not particularly authentic. And that's ok; it's the nature of the Riverwalk. The Guadalajara Grill, on the other hand, was not short on authenticity. It may not look perfect from the outside, but it had it where it counts on the inside. Great margaritas, friendly staff, prompt service and delicious Mexican fare. We split the barbacoa - plenty of food tor two and delicious. And the flan was maybe the best we've ever had. they said it was home-made and although I'm usually a bit skeptical, I believe them on this one.

I was lining up to enter the restaurant on December 31 and a young women arrived with friends who had a reservation. She told the guard that some of her friends were already inside and that it was a table for 8 people, the policeman told her that there were no tables of 8 and that it could not be, but she told him that there were already 4 inside and that they were 4. When the attendant arrived, she said yes, that table is 16 and the police told her that she had told him they were on the second floor and on the second floor there were no tables of 8, which the woman denied having said because she did not know were the table was, and it was true because I heard it ... the policeman was upset and immediately spoke roughly to her. His boyfriend told her to calm down to what the guard ask him to leave and that he was not going to let him in ... then she threatened her to physically remove her if she did not leave. It was very rough! and he approached her in defiance. She tried at all times to explain and ask why, but the guard told her that because he had the power to do so. we decided not to enter and we were very outraged. Their friends inside tried yo help, but the employees of the restaurant did not help her. This is not what anyone wants to see in an officer who has to defend the rights of the people, neither the restaurant to take care of its clients.

I wanted to walk along the river until I found a restaurant that wasn't the same as I could find in most other tourist cities. I'm not sure if Guadalahara Grill is a chain, but it was new to me and seemed a little off the beaten path. With Modelo Especial being the only beer on tap and the spicy salsa that came with the free chips, I quickly realized I made a good choice. The interior decor is fun, and wait staff was always helpful. I do think the prices were a little high which led to the 4 instead of a 5, but I probably should remember that other options on the Riverwalk are even higher. Overall, I think this is a great option for Mexican food, and a unique place to unwind in the area.

We walked past on our way to the Tower of the Americas and thought it sounded good. Checked out reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to go there for dinner. So glad we did. Good was excellent and so was the service. We sat outside and enjoyed every bit of the atmosphere.

This place is a true Mexican food restaurant. The music is all from Tex/Mex radio, the TV only has International soccer on and your fork comes wrapped up in a paper envelope. This joint is so Tex/Mex that it has extra lights, loud signs and all the trappings of a decade long Mexican restaurant. Our server was young and very shy but friendly. Their paper napkins are located in a napkin dispenser in the corner of the table. Tortillas are an extra charge. They have three kinds of queso, the base model was thick and very tasty. The chicken Flautas were delicious. They were crispy and there was plenty of shredded cheese, sour cream, pico, and guacamole. The green sauce and red sauces that came with were tasty and added to the flavor. The chips and two salsas were average. The enchiladas, both beef and cheese were thin but good tasting. The borracho beans had lots of bacon and onions. The service was pretty quick. This is a raucous place with some folks being loud. The prices are very good here and the atmosphere is gratis.

Don't know if the food was what made me sick or the service. All the staff seemed to busy to take my order considering it was a slow day. Waitress seemed to be bothered when asked if i can place my order. Looks definitely failed my judgment.

Hubby took me to the River Walk for my birthday. Stopped in the Guadalajara Grill for a late lunch. We love Mexican food. Server was friendly, chatty and personable. We ordered avocado dip which the server made at our table, with input from us as to which ingredients we liked and how much of some. I love cilantro which he was very generous with. I ordered the Chile Relleno with cheese and a margarita. Chile Relleno was good, though not as spicy as I had hoped. Hubby ordered the taco salad which was generous size and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to eat slow due to a medical condition so we were there an hour and a half, with no pressure from our server. Decor was unique. If we're ever in the area again we will be back.

This restaurant was a block from our hotel, and decided to try it for lunch. I noticed there were a couple of larger parties of 5 - 6 people, and a few tables of 2 here and there. There appeared to be 1 waiter and a couple of good runners?? Seem to be under control, until after we ordered. The Supernachos arrived on a small oval shaped player that had chips, cheese, scoop of guac and sour cream and THATS IT! Super disappointing! The waiter seemed to have this wise guy schitck, that was kinda funny, but wore off after the first couple of jokes. Odd.. If you're looking for a reasonably priced lunch and don't mind waiting for A While to get your food, check this place out. Otherwise walk the extra few blocks and get a great meal in a nice restaurant. ( Don't order the supernachos! )

Food was great as our entire group ate here for supper one night! And the service was even better - friendly staff and working like crazy! Would definitely come back.

We come here almost every visit to SA. love the mulcajeta. Amazing dish, we share it. It is $20 but plenty for 2.

We stopped for dinner just on a chance. LOVED it!! The servers could not have been more attentive or more friendly. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered beef ribs. The food was delicious -- large portions. Dinner came with chips and salsa, and I would swear that even the chips were homemade. We loved the place so much that we ate there a second time. The wait staff remembered us, which was nice. We ordered the Molcajeta in a lava bowl. Really good and different -- worth a try. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We’d thought we’d ween seen a sign the previous day stating 24 hour breakfast but when we tried to Oder breakfast @1:03pm, we were told no. We were disappointed, having walked there specifically for breakfast. We had quesadillas instead - one plain cheese & one shrimp (which was shrimp added to same cheese), which were tasty. Service was acceptable but not exceptional. We sat outside at picnic table, set back but alongside busy street (our choice).

We have been visiting the Guadalajara Grill for 6 years during the Texas Music Educators Assn. show. Super cold beers and delicious margaritas. The food is excellent!! Perfect sized portions and the tacos and rice/beans fantastic!! Thanks to Willie, Bianca and the rest of the staff!

Great food and ambiance. The waitstaff is accommodating and friendly. Had the smoked marlin tacos for appetizers and shrimp tostadas very good food and oh the skinny margaritas are spot on!

We came here for drinks. The decor in this place is pretty awesome. Their ceiling is really cool and loved their pictures/quotes on the wall. This would be a place I would come back to if I come back to San Antonio. Good drinks. Boyfriend said they have spicy salsa. Great customer service. Our waiter was a cool and nice guy.

We had wandered past on our way to the Tower of the Americas. It looked interesting and the menu sounded good so we kept in mind for dinner. After reading reviews we decided to go for it and are so glad that we did. We sat outside so we could take in the night atmosphere. Ordered the Molcajete which was kind of fajitas in a pasole style broth. It was so flavorful! Filling for two people. So glad we made this choice.

Proximity is great but save your money. We had 12 in our party.....there were only a few customers when we arrived. Being right next to the Hilton one would think the restaurant should be packed like all other restaurants on the riverwalk. After being seated and provided chips/salsa...we had to go ask for more chips and water. The “beer-itas” and margaritas were bad. My fajitas were plentiful but bland as well as the beans and rice. Flour tortillas tasted store bought...Hot sauce is definitely “hot.” Food was lukewarm. Do not waste your time or money. There are better Mexican food places to eat on the riverwalk. No bueno. No bueno.

Overpriced fajita lunch was not very good; stale chips, small portions of rice, which was dry, and soupy beans. Beef was burned and chicken overcooked. Definitely would not return or recommend.

Stopped in last minute for a quick bite. Drinks and an hour latter we are still chit chatting with our waitress Letty. If time allows we will return. She has helped make a memory!

We were just walking around, was hungry and found this gem a little of the beaten path a few steps above the riverwalk. This was the best mexican food we had during our 8-day stay in San Antonio. We have the MOLCAJETE ULTIMO, which is best described as a tortilla soup, with steak, chicken. and shrimp fajita laced with some rice and spiced cactus cooked in a lava pot...(warning...this dish is hot, which is the way we like it). Service was great and attentive and the price was reasonable 21$ for the pot which easily feeds two if not three. It is as if we went to a completely different restaurant then some of the more negative reviews.Definitely recommend!

Cool atmosphere at this little bar. Drinks were cold and well made. service was lil slow but super nice employees. Didn’t eat but people seemed happy and food looked good.

The cochinita pibil was the best I've eaten outside of Mexico. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was excellent. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The prices were so reasonable compared to all the other Mexican restaurants on the river. Our dishes were not Tex-Mex but authentic Spanish. The presentation was delightful. We will definitely return!

Stopped here cause it looked like a neat place to eat. Had good reviews so figured we would try it. We sat outside on patio and we were the only ones sitting outside. The only thing missing was music playing but we used our i-phone and pandora and had Mexican music playing. Food and service was great, so the experience was well worth stopping. Would certainly go back. Thanks !

We ate there twice during our visit and thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was friendly and prompt, The margaritas were really tasty!

Atmosphere is pretty good. Service is ok. Food - we wanted just regular chips and queso she gave us queso flamado - ok.... but other than regular enchiladas which were ok the taco and soup was terrible and the carnitas plate which is usual deep fried was presented looking boiled and cut into little pieces. Won’t be revisiting. Sorry!

Stopped in for lunch while in La Vallita area. Fun atmosphere. Food was just OK. Mexican dishes as expected. Enjoyed my Taco Salad.

Average Mexican food but terrible service. Waited forever for drinks, then a long time until they took our order. When our meals came my husband had to wait another 5minutes for his, then they brought the wrong tortillas

I asked the chef to create something vegetarian. Oh my gosh, the plate was a work of art! The variety of food, the presentation, the tastes. An experience for the mouth. My mother had the chicken cilantro and said the flavors were amazing. Bold and complex, utterly amazing.

Wow!! I'm a local and I have to say why didn't I find this place sooner!! Right in the small of downtown and the decor is very fitting!! It's like a little Mexico right here! The nachos were good and flavorful! Outdoor seating the best watch the downtown and people walking by...

We had the best time, Pedro was our waiter and the whole staff was just excellent! The food was great, and if you’re a fan of Carnitas they were awesome! Everyone’s food was awesome!

EVERYONE BE AWARE !! Service was not HONEST and genuine, Food is very basic, undercooked and over priced!!! Had dinner with my family and I do not recommend this place. Not sure if the Hispanic man is the owner but when we were leaving, he filled out MY receipt portion and tipped HIMSELF more than $15 which was more than 15% of my ticket. When he seen me looking at it he tried to rush me saying “it’s okay just sign just sign”. I do not appreciate this and people should look out for this as this is not good integrity and believe they are doing this to more people!!!!!

We stopped here for a break from our walking and enjoyed strawberry lemonade outside - made with fresh strawberries. Very relaxing, friendly service. It is a full service restaurant, but we cannot address the meals. The outside seating is comfortable, but has a lot of concrete- not a lot of green to soften it - near a busy highway. Part of the Villita village.

Food was without a good flavor... pricey for what I got, basicaly I ate the chips and salsa because I was so hungry and left everything else on the plate. Will never go back nor recommend it.

We picked this restaurant because we could sit inside, it was 32 degree outside. Real nice waiter. Good mojitos and good fajitas

We sat outside, this restaurant is right next to the Hilton Palacio del rio, from the Car entrance side. Great taste of Mexican cuisine, and the prices were reasonable compared to other options on the Riverwalk

Yum Yum Yum! We got a little bit lost in walking around & one of us was about ready to pass out we were so hungry! We looked at the menu from outside thought we would try it, went inside... was a little sketchy about it… But our waiter and the food was really outstanding! In fact in all of our meals during our three or four days stay-– this was our favorite! Enjoy the fun ambience!👏🏻 I had tilapia and a margarita. My husband had enchiladas. The guacamole they made to order – outstanding.

Nice out door dining. They don’t serve chips and salsa unless you pay which is weird. The plates of food are so small and I am not a big eater but it was very disappointing. The chicken was very dry with no flavor the beef was tough. I had to ask for salt twice. I would not eat here again.

I was looking for a restaurant that served soppapillas and this place did! Their fajitas were very good too! Great place for a meal!

Tables are so crammed into this space it’s TIGHT! We turned down the first table offered because we would have been squeezed in. We ordered Chicken tortilla soup that comes with - on the side, chicken, Avocado, tortilla strips, cheese, sour cream we also added a chicken flaunta 1) it took FOREVER for ANYONE to acknowledge us and take our order 2) we only got one soup/flauta 2) it took so long for them to check on us my daughter had finished her meal before anyone came back and her soup was missing the chicken. It was AWFUL. Poor service. Poor food - how can you serve chicken tortilla soup without chicken?!?!!! Don’t waste your time here. It looks nice from the street but trust me CROSS THIS OFF YOUR LIST

Thankful they were able to seat our family of 10 with no wait. We found the place friendly and pleasant. Multiple people worked together to serve us, but this method worked fine. The food was standard Tex-Mex and we liked it. We esp liked the flaming cheese and chorizo appetizer.

My friend and I took at trip from TN to TX. While touring the River Walk and surrounding area we had lunch at the Guadalajara Grill. The table side guacamole was fabulous. The tamarind margarita ws epic!! Portion sizes were great. We will be back. Thanks for a great experience.

this charming grill is located at the front of La Villeta adjacent to the Hilton. first entrance has steps and the same stones on the ramp making for bumpy rides if anyone in the party has a walker. the margaritas are generous and the chips and salsa spicy. we had the super nachos which was more than we could eat. the soapillas were a little flat but tasty. however i am a soapilla snob. the service was enthusiastic but chaotic.

Sat at the bar for a quick lunch while in town. Best shrimp tostados I've ever had! Quick service, very Texan feel to the place, friendly people. Very close to the Riverwalk. Very cool place to visit!

We visited after a recommendation from our hotel. We had the Molcajete (includes beef, chicken, shrimp in a slightly spicy but extremely flavourful broth) with flour tortillas! It was soooo good! We also tried the guacamole and had Willys Sexy Coffee for dessert. Everything was wonderful. Bianca, our bartender was awesome and Willy himself made our coffee! Quaint, fun, local place with a Texas flair! Definitely a must if visiting San Antonio!

Very intense flavors that set it apart from any other restaurant that I have enjoyed in San Antonio! The welcome and service are better than family. . . It was fun to have such a great experience with the crew and the freshness and flavor made my day! Only downside was that my lemonade had ice and was too small to handle the spicy food 😎

Slightly hidden excellent South American cuisine in fun and characterful setting. 100 yards from main river walk and worth the walk. Splendid character decor, lovely home cooked by family owners, with friendly and humorous service. Great cocktails to follow. This is a proper South American eaterie at reasonable prices. Head and shoulders above the artificial copies on the river walk.

Staff was very nice. Food came out pretty quickly. Food was acceptable quality, not anything to write home about. Guacamole was good.

This bar and grill has a great, vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff. The location to my hotel on the Riverwalk was very convenient. I had the shrimp tacos and they were very pleasant. I’ve had more flavorful shrimp tacos from other places but these were still very tasty. The rice and beans were very good too. I recommend!

Ok food, ok service, ok for a quick in and out lunch. Relatively inexpensive. Lots of choices for Mexican style food along the Riverwalk. Looking at the menus their offerings all seem about the same.

We were headed into the shops and stopped here for lunch. I'm so glad we did - it was really good. I think our only issue, which was with the service, was because we arrived at a shift change or just as a server got to work or something and were handed off from our initial order person to someone else. It looked like our initial person was actually the hostess, so understandable. There was an awesome selection of food and the drinks arrived almost immediately. 3 out of 4 people at our table got their food and I waited for my fish tacos. It was hard to get anyone's attention, which almost seemed deliberate, but after some awkward hand signals and my animated face - we got an "Just a few more minutes, he's making it now!". Sure enough, the tacos arrived in about 5 minutes with an explanation that the sauce had run out and he had to make more. They were delicious and worth waiting for. We had a similar service issue with getting drink refills and a check, but overall it was fun. The decor alone is entertaining enough to put up with a lot. There was inside and outside seating and it seemed like a popular place.

Service was a little slow because they were busy, took a few to get seated. We sat outside, it was beautiful weather on November. We got fajitas and enchiladas, both were wonderful. Chips and salsa were great too.
Gets the job done.
Friendly laid back atmosphere. Food was good not great, maybe a bit over cooked. But a fair example of local Mex. it did end up being a bit pricey for this type of restaurant. But not bad and very easy.
