Was excited to celebrate my 50th birthday here today. I was underwhelmed. When you’ve been to the real deal in Dublin (was there in June), you have to step up the game and deliver. Sadly this place does not. Totally not authentic. Guinness in name only. Need to work out a lot of kinks. This place has 3 strikes for me: no parking (sent an email and response was plenty of street parking and that was a total lie. Drove around for 30 minutes and finally booked a garage spot on SpotHero for $26), out of Harp and out of Guinness Beef Stew. They just opened at 11am and our reservation was for 11:45am., The crafted beers won’t be available to take home for another month or two. Thought they tasted horrible. Stick with Guinness and Harp, if it’s in stock. No desserts on the menu which made for a disappointing birthday celebration. Service was good and food came out quick and hot. We had the wings and fried chicken sandwich. The menu items have no consistent theme. Seemed like it was a “Let’s see how these items do and then revise the menu.” Since they’re brewing “Chicago” beer, why not have some “Chicago” Irish American themed food, i.e. Corned Beef Sliders, Colcannon, Boxty, or some menu items from Dublin (was REALLY hoping for the seafood chowder). Honestly, they need to figure out if they’re a brewery first and restaurant second or vice versa. Right now, it’s an identity crisis. Maybe take a page from Dublin and have the Harp room/bar be similar to Gravity Bar where only beer is sold and have a separate floor, in this case a room, that’s just the restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. We were lucky enough to get a table for brunch. This is going to be newest guilty pleasure, sorry Netflix, can't beat very good beer and food to match. We had the Crab benedict, Breakfast fries, and Burger. It was so good, we ordered the benedict again and even got the corn beef benedict too. I have nothing to say except, GO. You'll love it.

Good food, great atmosphere, come to see the harp! Ask for Julie- our great server! She was very helpful and friendly!

Went with my family to check out this new place - was shockingly surprised! Not a fan of Guinness, I didn't think I would like any beers there. Besides Guinness, the brewery makes an array of other beers including IPAs and Kolsh's. Great place if you love different types of beer. Food was excellent! A lot better than other breweries I've been to.

Not a avid beer drinker but their selection was full of variety and none the less flavors! Guinness BBQ wings were the 💣 and the brown bread was delicious, will definitely be back

I can't wait to come back! I decided to stop for lunch and am so glad I did. The mushroom pot pie (with braised beef added) was amazing, the service was equally great. The staff was attentive, made great recommendations and the atmosphere is really cool!

Stopped in for dinner and a beer. I lived in Germany for a year and visited the country countless times after my residency . I didn't find any of this establishment's German style beers to remotely taste like the real thing. Our group ordered a number of food items which looked good but were, at best, blah . The premises are huge and must have cost a fortune to construct. Service wasn't great either.

I am a Guinness enthusiast and lover but the service and the staff made our sight a nightmare. Thanks to the restaurant manager it was one of the worst experiences of my life, above all I'm sad because it's Guinness branded. Ordered drinks and food with family and children, together with friends who wanted us to discover this place, they left us standing the whole time. Empty tables were available in both rooms, but the staff, led by the manager, did not want to listen to reason in order not to make additional efforts to reorganize the room as best as possible. When asked why you sold us food without a place to sit, we were told: it's your problem and if you want we'll give you your money back. But the tables are free, why don't you at least let us sit with the children? These are not your problems, they are not our problems, you are no longer welcome in the place, YOU MUST LEAVE. That is, we were kicked out. A waiter took pity on us and found us a place in the souvenir shop, segregated in the punishment room, separated from civilized people. I told the dining room manager that, as a restaurant owner, I found the situation absurd and, having no arguments, totally incapable of carrying on the conversation, she called the restaurant's security asking us to leave. A shame that I never imagined I would have to suffer. Another demonstration of the inability to manage the room and the situations, the place is made up of two areas, the first had a queue of at least 20 minutes to order and the other was empty. He didn't even think of diverting some of the customers to the other room, leaving people standing. For me she is incompetent and the sooner she is removed the sooner the place will start enjoying good reviews. Never before had I been dismissed just for expressing an opinion. American model? Freedom of expression? I ask the owners to intervene and urgently remove the manager for the good name of the brand.

Came here for Father’s Day brunch with wife and kids, excited for an Irish breakfast. At $25 (and an expat myself), I was expecting a lot. It was average. Came out lukewarm. Portion was a good size, but didn’t warrant the price inflation: ingredients were’t exceptional. Grilled tomato was a pile of mush; bacon wasn’t your classic Irish rasher; beans were overly sweet American kind with pork bits in. No kids menu unfortunately, so we bought the chicken and waffles to share. I saw another serving go out after ours that appeared to have 2x the chicken, so they’re apparently pretty inconsistent in portions. My kids were still hungry so we ordered some brownies from the cafe, but they were out so we got some blondies which were really good. Waiter kindly comped them as a Father’s Day gift, which was a nice touch. Cold brew beer cocktail was great. Being June, they were celebrating LGBT+ stuff. I feel there’s mixed messages when on a table-top sign at each table you have a Father’s Day promo on one side and on the other side the advertising of a Drag Queen event. Some may call me a bigot, but this is a hard topic to explain to my kids who can read. I get this is a cultural norm now, especially in the city in June (libraries have story hours etc.), but for any families that don’t want to be forced into an unanticipated and premature conversation explain sexual liberation, I’d avoid this place. I wouldn’t say it’s family friendly for most families. For a decent and affordable breakfast go 15 minutes up the highway to Mystic Rogue (more authentic, black and white pudding, real beans, proper bacon, bigger portions, $10 cheaper)

We had a late afternoon reservation for four people at 2 PM on a Friday. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, but before we were brought to a table, the host questioned whether we would be dining. Planning to order some pub fare appetizers, we said YES. Thankfully so, as the entire venue was quickly brimming with attendees for a networking happy hour event. We were seated and orders were taken, but while we had ample appetizers yet to be consumed, the servers circled and continued to ask if we were finished. I'm uncertain whether they wanted to clear out the booth, but there were at least three vacant tables on either side of us. This made us feel unnecessarily rushed. Beer was as expected, although it's odd that they do not offer a traditional Guinness pour at room temperature.

Short wait, then we were able to get seated. Staff was friendly and welcoming, food was great! i’ll be back to check out brunch

Guinness in Chicago. Enough Said. Beers from Dublin and a curated Chicago made beer list along with an incredible dinner menu make for a memorable experience. Vibrant room adds to the wonderful dining experience.

The Guinness open gate brewery was excellent visit, I met my online friends there on 6th April we had Great time there The Guinness is the Same as in Ireland lovely Smooth Creamy pints also I had the Guinness Stew which was delicious my friends also thought the food was excellent, The staff couldn’t be more helpful thanks for everything! Brian From Cork Ireland 😊

Disappointing as didn't have the Irish or brewery feel I was expecting. Felt like a regular bar with just some Guinness branding stuck around. Would have been nice to have Irish music playing there

Fantastic food and service, great place for a night out with friends or family! Will definitely come back again!

Stopped in on a Saturday at 2. Pm. There was a long line to get in. Just wanted to have a beer. The taproom has restaurant tables in there. Seemed odd they just opened so trying to figure things out. Had a Guinness but no chance to try their other brews and no desire to not sit.

The space is beautiful, but very small for the location and popularity of Guinness. The food was very expensive for the quality and portion size. Mussels were wonderful and fries were double fried, so good! The rest of the meal was subpar, chicken sandwich, corned beef board, and beef roll. The entrance was narrow and lead right into the cafe that had seating for maybe 12 people. Then straight into the restaurant that was also small for the size and location. The drinks were amazing, but for the price of food and size of the building I had to give 3 out of 5 stars. I’m hoping to return in the summer when outside areas are open to see if the building size is a factor.

I visited the Guinness Brewery during St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Chicago. The place is amazing! The drinks and vibes are simply unmatched. A must do if you visit Chicago.

We had an absolute brilliant visit to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in November. Staff were super and the Chicken Sandwich was rated the best ever by some in the group! Looking forward to heading back!!

Fantastic 3 hour lunch experience with very professional & friendly staff! Sam, our barista was excellent! Great atmosphere, clean, new.

The place is beautifully and modernly set and decorated, though not in the least reminiscent of a pub, the Guinness brewery, or anything the beer stands for. You can live with this, but I bet it was not just me the only one who got lured by the Guinness folklore and spirit. The brewery is in an up-and-coming neighborhood in Chicago, not far from the touristy areas, but be mindful that as of September ’24, the area might not be so family friendly/welcoming once the sun sets. Bear this in mind specially if visiting with kids, who are always welcomed. The food is just OK. Even when thinking of pub food, nothing really stood out, and the menu, though containing a mix of small bites and main courses, remains limited. From our party’s very own experience, don’t have the rice, not even as a side, it felt very disagreeable. Burgers and wings, well, you can probably find better ones at a Chili’s. Finally, what was supposed to be the star of the place, the beer. I must sadly report that it was a letdown!!! We’re talking about Chicago here, where you can find extraordinary tap beer just around almost any corner. Guinness Open Gate’s local batches were disappointing, with some beers tasting cloyingly citrusy (stay away from the salt and lime ale), others feeling barely carbonated, and not one memorable. Even the original Guinness draught beer lacked consistency and flavor –don’t know why. On the bright side, Guinness Open Gate Brewery is very reasonably priced, and although the are no samplers, there’s an 8oz. glass that will let you try more than just a couple of options. Also, the souvenir store is very well stocked with quite some interesting products.

This is a great spot for a night out. Ambience is great, beers are great! New menu is amazing! Try the Cherry Chocolate Bread pudding, it will change your life!

First visit today, Saturday at 1:00 pm. Busy. Stated 30 minute wait, however, my cranky self was pleased when our text said our table was ready after only 10 minutes. As another reviewer stated, parking is quite limited. We drove around for 10 minutes searching for street parking to only say, let’s do the $20 valet. Missed the mark in decor and feel. Feels like an upscale cafeteria without a dedicated bar area, which would mimic Dublin and its quaint pubs. Perfectly poured Guinness 🍺 Food fantastic. Had the burger and corned beef benedict. Brown bread dry n crumbly so not worth the $10. If you live in city this is a nice stop. Our drive was well over an hour so will not revisit.

Was excited to stop in however not very accommodating for those that just want to hang out and have a few beers. Bar area very limited for casual hanging out and all tables were reservation only. Bakery and coffee shop took up much needed space and did not see one sale from that area the whole time we were there. We sat outside which won’t be an option for very long unless they get heaters. The space should be rethought to cater to beer drinkers hanging out. The Guinness was delicious!

Guinness Open Gate Brewery has a fun lively atmosphere, with good food and a fantastic staff. It is a great stop for a group of friends to stop by and get a great beer.

Beautiful building in the west loop of Chicago. Beer and food were both fantastic with a great selection

8 of us had brunch at the Open Gate Brewery. Atmosphere was beautiful. The staff could not have been more genuine and attentive. The proper pour, what can we say, nothing like a Guinness pour at right temperature and timing. It's like no other. The food, simply outstanding and unexpected. Cannot wait to try to the lunch and dinner menu's. Thank you Guinness for choosing Chicago!!
Great Spot for Food and Beer in West Loop
Wonderful food and beer. Servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Glad the West Loop neighborhood has a spot like this!
