Just the Ticket

By GlobetrotterGardener |

We were looking for something in walking distance from Union Square. Inclined towards pizza in a casual sit down setting we came across this gem. Mitra, her family and friendly staff engaged us immediately and the food was superb. The prosciutto, pear and candied walnut salad for starters was more than enough for three. The salad arrived fresh and slightly chilled. The flavors warming along with the fabulous gorgonzola cheese as we served ourselves. The pizza crust is the calling card for the main. Seeing the crust take shape in the ovens is part of the experience. Mitra, her father and brother accommodated our request for a little less gorgonzola (which can trend towards overpowering) on their exquisite four cheese creation. Knowing seating is limited we arrived ahead of the crowd and were seated immediately. Shortly thereafter we witnessed a steady stream of takeout and dine-in patrons. They seemed to be from all walks of life. Smiles from all.

Pretty Good Pizza

Staff is amazing and so friendly. Pizza is good but is not your "traditional pizza" I liked it but my crew didn't care for it. It is good healthy pizza with a vegan option.

Pizza dough to die for

Stopped by for lunch. I ordered the Diavolo pizza. The crust was heavenly, crispy on the outside, tender in the middle and very digestible. Herbs and roasted garlic were subtle but delicious.8 by 12 inch pizza size was perfect for one hungry person or for 2 with a salad, though I only ate a pizza. Family run business with an extended family feel. Service was very warm and gracious. Specialty flour only from one family business in Italy. I will return with family very soon as food was in my opinion was better than Delfinos.

Great pizza and atmosphere

Following other reviews we found this small pizza restaurant and the staff were great. They accommodated that we were a group of 6 and were friendly and helpful. Pizza’s were amazing and the ‘buzz’ of the small restaurant made for a relaxing meal. Would recommend.

Perfect Pizza

Real good gourmet pizza with excellent service. Loved the space inside this relationship small family owned restaurant. Selection of beer and wine also available. First time but will definitely return.

Yum

Small place with just a few tables, very casual. The pinsas are very tasty and fluffy. I got a Napoli and mine was supposed to have anchovies, but those were no anchovies! So that was a bit disappointing. Also, beers on tap are $10 which is more than most places.

of true TASTE.

An excellent Roman pinseria a few steps from Union square and Powell street. Very good product and cooked just right. Italian products are used and only Italian songs are played during the stay. Very friendly staff but they don't speak Italian. I would say excellent quality/price. With 25 dollars you get a pinsa and two drinks.

Disappointing dinner

By bardsf |

Food sounded great on menu Small portions for the price. Salad dressings very sweet — unnaturally sweet. Too sweet. $94.00 for two pinsas (mostly crust) and two salads. I’ll pass next time. Another one and done. — workingman’s gourmand.

Oh. Em. Gee. What a fabulous Yelp find! Looking forward to a good pizza —and did we SCORE!!! From the minute we walked in, to the tasty appetizer, to the FABULOUS pizzas—served with great gusto by Mitra and her Mama. Such an excellent, attentive and welcoming attitude—and even more — JUST GOOD FUN! The pizzas were SUPERB! A DEFINITE return when we come back to San Francisco! Thank you, Mitra and all the Gusto family!

Unique pinsa, give it a try!

By obdocSanJose |

Unique pinsa which was very delicious. One pinsa has six slices. It is a great balance of flavors and light/ delicious crust. We shared a Daviola and it was fantastic. We also shared a lasagna which was more food than I needed. That said, the lasagna is homemade and very delicious. Our server was friendly and helpful in guiding our order. Other staff were also great

Sooo good!

Real flavours, crispy crust, fresh and delicious! Really recommend this place. It’s small with only a few tables if you’re eating in. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good menu with clearly marked vegan options. Prices in the mid-high compared to normal US pizzas, but easily worth it.

If you’ve never had pinsa.....

You have to try pinsa. Like pizza but lighter, airy and less greasy but better. Have them tell you about how the chef learned to make pinsa. Great beers & wines. A small place but very intimate & the waitress who was the owner was just so cool. Coming back for dinner next time.

Gusto is one of the best restaurants in San Francisco. Delicious food made with quality ingredients, friendly staff, excellent service, good price, and just overall the best. Always my go-to when I want something good for dinner or lunch, highly recommend.

Gusto Pinza Romano San Francisco July 2023

By philip w |

Hi we turned up there with no booking. They sorted us out some drinks. We had pizzas they were excellent. The service was good and they were very friendly. A nice place to visit considering the state of that area of San Francisco. For reference they only have a few tables. Worth a visit.

Wonderful Roman-style puzzas

Roman style pizza in tiny digs

By Shanelle |

One of the best Italian spots I’ve ever had. Came here for an afternoon snack with my friend on a Friday and we nabbed an indoor table (outdoor seating is also available). Credit cards accepted but there is a cash discount. They do have pizza by the slice available but I prefer the pinsa (a rectangle-cut pizza). The dough was crispy but airy, and the pinsa came fresh from the oven. The space is a little cramped so I would either opt only for takeout or going with one other person. The food was ready fairly quickly and we were in-and-out in under an hour.

Fantastic pizza & service

What a fantastic pizza we are a group of six adults seated within 5 minutes in a very small restaurant, fantastic service, the pizza was cooked in front of us, very clean also, this place is very much worth a visit

Excellent Italien

Very good food , small eating Area so long waiting queue outside but a very good restaurant Worth the wait

Very high prices for simple raw materials. No

By MegFi |

Overall, the Roman pinsa wasn't bad (even if the mozzarella doesn't really look like the Italian one...), it's just a shame about the prices: we spent a good 26 euros for just one pinsa!!! A decidedly high price even for the cost of living in San Francisco.

Very good pizza for good price

Very good service and very good food. Very accommodating and good portion. I can only recommend walking by.

Good food, great service

We were unsure to come it but it was a good idea. Great service and good food. The Diavola pinsa had too much of pimiento, in our opinion, but everything else was delicious.

Great place to eat

Looking for good pizza and found it at Gusto Pinsa. Service was excellent, waiter Saam was the best with lots of info on San Francisco. Place was spotless and the pizza was great. Would recommend

Gorgeous and delicious pizza place

By Hanna H |

We found this little treasure walking past - and were very happy, that we decided to go in. The pizza was excellent, we had the salame and the salsiccia, both of them we highly recommend. The service was very attentively and friendly, we had a very nice chat with the waiter who happened to have visited our home town. Prices average for San Francisco (pizza between 15-20$). Definitely a place worth going to.

The Crust is the Best

By martinlrosen |

All of the toppings that we've tried at Gusto Pinza Romana have been wonderful, but it's the crunchy & fluffy crust that they bake that make this pizza so unique. The recipe for the dough dates back to the ancient Roman Empire times. One of the secret ingrediants is dried sourdough. The staff here is very friendly & are very good at making suggestions of what to order.

Amazing food!

We had a terrific dinner at this cosy restaurant in lower Nob Hill. We loved the pinsa (hand-pressed pizza) and the Caprese salad! The food is cooked with high quality ingredients and with love!!

Good Roman line to S.F.

A Roman pinsa in San Francisco? Of course you do! Small clean room, friendly staff, shrewd service. The pinsa is fragrant, crunchy at the base and soft in the heart, well stuffed with good quality ingredients. Price in line with US cities.
