rustic but good

if you like Korean food you will love this restaurant. But you better like spicey. I give it 4 stars because of the atmosphere not the food. It is a"Gotta Go" kinda place. IHG Rube

A good find

By Brian |

I've gone to many Korean BBQ's before, but this one didn't particularly have a wow factor hence the four stars. Everything else was very nice though. It's perhaps the only place where I have had the best service at a Korean BBQ restaurant. Their rice that is served in the beginning with the spinach is extremely good, I was surprised. They serve per every three choices of meats, and if you order three more but don't finish everything, then you get charged for leftovers. This is the kind of place where you want to take advantage and eat a lot since its AYCE style. For people who don't eat much, it would be preferable to choose a Korean BBQ that isn't AYCE but the quality of meats is a higher specialization. I would definitely come back and mainly for their customer service. Other Korean BBQ's have had everything great, but they lacked that personality. You just kind of eat and go, but in this place, we actually joked and laughed with our server, and for that, it wins a spot in my heart. I suppose there's a reason why it's known as the #1 Korean BBQ spot in K-Town, and I suppose, the reason for that is simple: The people.

Great food and service but the wait was bad

By Hsin-Yi W |

Hae Jiang Chon Korean BBQ was a recommendation from my friends who live in LA for years and they told me it was one of their favorites. It’s extremely popular so the wait was really bad about 2 hours. The staff was friendly, attentive and really patient to the crowd. They also helped each table grill their food in proper way. The options on the menu were limited compared to the one I had in other places but it’s more than enough for us. Their ingredients were fresh and quality was good especially for seafood. There were also delicious side dishes but you should leave stomach for meat.

Delicious All-You-Can-Eat

By Liz T |

This place was packed for a Monday night, but the service was excellent. Delicious cuts of meat cooked tableside by your server. It can get smoky a bit though. Fresh accompaniments like kimchi, radishes and rice paper. My favorite was the ribeye bulgogi, marinated short ribs and mushroom. I tried thinly slice beef tongue and I could do it again. A great experience.

Best KBBQ I have been to so far!

By Agnes C |

First things first, they have stone grills which are much more convenient for cooking as well as space. The servers are always on the job making sure your party has its refills on drinks and sides as well providing you with any additional requests. You are allowed to cook the meats yourself but they do it too so there's really no need for you to do it. When you are seated the the sides are already there for your appetizing! The place is quite small and your whole party has to be there to be seated but the service is great I would really recommend this place for any KBBQ lovers!

Perfect remedy after a fun late night.

By A R M |

After a fun night out with friends and a little jet lag this place hit the spot and well worth the 30+ minute wait. It's a popular spot for a good reason. The select is large and the taste is great.

Best kalbi I've ever tasted

By Jomama_Fosho |

This place is small so the wait tends to be long but it is worth it. The cost for all you can eat is $20 for lunch but for dinner and weekends it is $22. We tried everything but the best one is their marinated short ribs ( without the ribs) which made it easier for us to eat them. You are allowed to order 4 types of meat at a time and if you don't finish all of the meat you ordered, they charge you $15 so order wisely. Overall I recommend this place and do try out their marinated short ribs.

Great BBQ for meat lovers

By dcwang |

This is a great place. We went there twice in 4 years, both related to UCLA. Both times are packed and have to wait for an hour or so. This place serves excellent BBQ and good services.

Not worth 1 1/2 hour wait

By Nartableware |

There is plenty of food, great friendly staff but if your not a HUGE fan of Korean BBQ it's not worth the wait. There is signs all over about if you have meat left you pay $15, which I understand the reasoning but if your a small group it's intimidating When they bring the meats it's a large plate and thinly sliced. The marinated meats were the best, save room for the short ribs and octopus

Very good restaurant

By Chi001 |

Excellent restaurant if you like Korean BBQ. Well worth the money spent. Very good choices. Only to remember not to waste the meat otherwise you will have to pay which I think it is a good policy to prevent waste. Waitress was very good.

good option in Koreatown

By digby_23 |

We happened upon this place by chance, looking for a Korean BBQ for a weekday lunch. It was very busy with a mostly Korean crowd, which boded well, and we were not disappointed. There may be better options out there but we found an authentic restaurant serving very good fare and with great service.

Perfect Korean BBQ for meat lovers...

By TRCreator |

We googled it base on reviews when we were in Science World, Best Korean BBQ restaurant we have ever had! We picked lunch All you can eat. Service was fast, most amazing thing's server cooks for you. They were really busy, but could always come back right on time to flip the meat, cut into small portion, or use radish quickly clean the tray. They have big variety of meat selections, food was tasty. The only thing need to be careful: cooking tray was too hot which made oil splashed on my face few times.

Not bad but not amazing

By Nari L |

The food is good here but I honestly had better Korean BBQ. Would I come here again? Probably not. I do like how they make bokkeumbap after but it still wasn't the selling point for me. I'd rather go elsewhere to my other BBQ places that are on top of my list

Great experience. Worth the wait! There is a reason this place is busy.

By FamilyoffourPA |

This is our 2nd time here. The first time was so good we had to go back. We were not disappointed. The wait was long, about an hour, but there is reason people wait for this restaurant. This is not a tourist trap restaurant. You will find an authentic experience delivered by very knowledgable staff. We ate very well in LA but this is the place we are still talking about. Forget the wait and just go. The food is exceptional and the experience is incredible. GO!!

Good AYCE. But Not Great. Other Better Ones for Price.

By mo_9287 |

I was looking for a all you can eat Korean BBQ in Korean Town LA. Wanted to go to Castle2 since it was economical but the wait was an hour. Used yelp and found this. Very clean restaurant. Service was very good. We were given great advise. They used stone grills as opposed to the regular metal ones which was fascinating. And the servers will do a lot of the grilling for you if you need assistance. The food variety was and taste wasn't too great for the price ($22.99) but still I think it was decent enough for the cleanliness of the restaurant. All in all, I will still return again.

All you can eat Korean bbq!

By estherbu |

They only take reservation for 6 ppl and above. Come early to get your seat! We waited one hour+ to get our table. Marinated beef short rib is very good. They served quality meat and it is all you can eat! Kimchi is pretty good as well. Server cooked the meat for you and service is superb fast!

Very fun, good and interesting adventure

By Mitch H |

Had a table to 7, was fun helping cook and also watching the servers cook, the sides were interesting and they kept refilling upon request. It is all you can eat and if you order and don't finish, they will charge you more. Lunch is set at approximately $25 per person. Tables was crowded to get all the food, sides and drinks in but workable. A fun place to try out.

Amazing

By 352MD |

This was my first time having Korean BBQ and it was great. Beware that some of the sides contains fish. I have a food allergy to fish and I cannot consume it at all. I advised my server of this and he made sure to let me know what not to eat. A lady employee came over and put some type pancake which contained fish on the grill. Do to a language barrier, she didn't understand me. It was not her fault, she was trying to be helpful. So I informed male server of the incident and he quickly cleaned the grill while replacing our tongs.

Great for "beginners"

By DenisePrav |

With an abundance of places in the area, and no experience with Korean food we went with this choice based on reviews. The staff were helpful and guided us with menu selections. The beef short ribs and chicken were marinated, very flavorful. We also tried the squid and the shrimp. The accompanying kimchi, spinach and radish were very good, somewhat spicy. There were several sauce options from extra spicy to sweet. Fun way to dine with your food cooking on a stone in center of the table.

Delicious... and very popular

By SkiBunnyintheTropics |

We got there about 6:30pm on a Friday night and had about an hour for a table. It was totally worth it, but if I go again I will try to pick a less busy time to go. This was the most memorable Korean BBQ I've had; I really liked the range of side dishes and everything was tasty. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. I don't know how the cost compares to other similar restaurants in the area, but it seemed reasonable to me considering we ate nice cuts of meat and had a few beers until we were stuffed. They only take reservations for parties of six or more.

Incredible Korean BBQ

By livend |

First time in LA trying korean BBQ. We came on a weekday afternoon a bit past lunch time so the restaurant had plenty of tables. Everything was prepared for us, the menu was explained to us clearly. We tried all the meats available and they were delicious. The bulgogi is a personal favorite and this one stands out from other restaurants I've tried in the past. The pork belly was also incredible. All the food was prepared and cooked for us on the gas grill on our table. The kimchi rice at the end was also very good. My only complaint is that you can't have both the white rice and kimchi rice, since the latter can only be ordered at the very end of the meal.

Excellent All You Can Eat

By lndn05 |

We came here after the Korean Music Festival and while we did wait a little bit, it was well worth the wait. They have a good selection of meats for the all you can eat. The wait staff helped us cook our food and were always there to replenish our side dishes or drink glasses. Definitely coming back again

TRY IT!

By Basma B |

The food was delicious! Great quality. Love this place.Efficient and friendly service - just wave, and they'll be at your feet. You don't need to look Korean or speak Korean to get their attention.

Friendly staff, lots of options and AYCE

By Patricia M |

The wait was long, but once you get seated the food comes very quickly. The waitstaff are constantly checking up on you - stirring and cutting your meat, helping you figure out the doneness and asking if you need more. They were super helpful for us since this was only our 2nd experience. The quality of the meat was very good for an AYCE place. We had the marinated short ribs, thin sliced pork belly, BBQ squid, BBQ pork, BBQ chicken and octopus. The only miss was the octopus - it's just a hard meat to get just right. Definitely recommend.

All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ!!!

By Peter M |

Visiting L.A., we wanted Korean BBQ. So we started researching and all signs pointed to Haw Jang Chon. Man, they were right? It's all you can eat, so come hungry--and come early or off-hour as this place is deservedly popular and therefore gets crowded. We got in right before the rush and started with beef and octopus. We paced ourselves and asked for more. The only disappointment was the peel-yourself shrimp, which was tasteless. Cooked right at the table, it was great. The spices improved each cooked dish. Did not disappoint, and yes, we would gladly return next time we're in town.

Best Korean barbecue in LA!!!

By Amandine M |

The waiting was worth it: The service is excellent, I had a waiter called Jayden and he was so so considerate. Always ready to fill my cup of water even thought I still had water in it, and asking if we were okay every now-and-then. The dinner is $26 and you can eat all the meat and side-dishes on the menu. If you like kpop, it's your chance! The restaurant plays songs from BTS, Blackpink, NCT, Twice, ... Great place to go with family and friends. My best experience in LA so far.

More than a BBQ

By 1996rainier |

First time to eat and it was really sumptuous! The concept is buffet but only what you could consume! The taste is very distinct Asian and the sauce comes in variety of choices! The service is prompt and will fill up the appetite! Rainier

Best Korean BBQ

By Jimmy Y |

The best Korean BBQ restaurant ive ever been too. Excellent service overall as well! The wait was a bit long but it was totally worth the wait. Must try!!!!

Fun and good value for money

By Ludovic O |

Simple korean BBQ. Good selection if meat. Nice for a good time with friends. Price is also very reasonable.

All you can eat buffet with a no wastage penalty clause

By Neil R |

They use high quality meat for an authentic experience. The highlight for me was the beef tongue. Absolutely amazing. The bulgogi was close second. They are kind of pushy when it comes to re-ordering though

Good Korean BBQ

By thommyleejohnes |

Well organized, awesome food, we got our table fast. BBQ is done by a waiter, you don't need to do it yourself. Absolutely recommendable;-)

Best Korean BBQ I've Ever Had

By 613ishanr |

My wife and I were visiting LA for just over a day and I purposely booked a hotel in Koreatown so that we would be walking distance away from some great Korean BBQ joints. Looking back, it was a great decision as Hae Jang Chon exceeded my expectations. There was a huge line up due to its popularity but it was well worth the wait. The portions were huge and they had a very generous portion of side dishes like kimchi, radishes, etc. The servers were very friendly. Hit this place up if you get a chance!

Love the Traditional Grill

By monica b |

Came here for a friend's birthday yesterday. We had a party of 6 and made reservations but still waited 30 minutes for our table. This place is very popular. I would recommend calling ahead. I'm assuming the people without reservations waited a good 1-1.5 hours We are KKBQ regulars but the traditional stone grill was a new experience. The bulgogi and beef tong were excellent. But the service feel a little short when providing the sides. We had to ask for kimchi multiple times before we got it and never got salad. The prices are comparable to the other KBBQ joints in the area.

Amazing flavor

By Lynn W |

We decide to find the best rate Korean BBQ in Korea town and the decision could not have been better! The food here was delicious and unlike a lot of the reviews I read, the wait was not that long. It definitely beats the places I go to at home. I would highly recommend for lovers of Korean BBQ.

Tasty Korean BBQ w/ Great Service!

By hernandezsteph |

This place had great food & service! We had about 3 different items choices. My favorites were the thin sliced pork belly & the marinate short ribs. Not only was the food good but all the waiters were really nice and very helpful. They helped us start cooking and would always come back to check around if we needed anything else. For being a KBBQ place I thought the price for an all you can eat was good. About ~$23 per person for lunch. I'd definitely would go back!

Terrible wait times

By Safari95266 |

I would avoid this place at all costs. We were long time customers but lately, the wai has been almost 3 hours and it’s not worth it. They underestimate the wait time so you don’t leave and at the same time, they prioritize the larger groups reservations. It’s a no win situation for a group of 5 or less. You will constantly keep going down on the waiting list due to large groups. Last night, our wait was 2 hours 40 min. We won’t go again. It’s not worth it.

Good value for money.

By Yavar K |

Not a bad place. It’s in the Korean town of LA. Decor is average, but good food. We ordered the All you can eat BBQ option which was good value for money. There is car parking just outside the restaurant’s front door. Major CC accepted, and has complementary Wifi.

Excellent

By Abdullah_tk |

If you are up to eat the best Korean bbq really fast come here. Service is excellent. All the beef options are good.

Tasty barbeque Korean style

By Mark N |

Very tasty Korean barbeque in LA. Great selection of meat. Delicious dipping sauces. We had the buffet at dinner. At 20 dollars a person for all you can eat barbeque it is a great deal. You will leave smelling of barbeque but no big deal. Our Lyft driver was an Asian gal and she knew as soon as we got into her car that we had gone to a barbeque restaurant. Give it a try for a different take on barbeque.

Delicious All you can eat BBQ

By Yudi |

This place had a wonderful selection of different meats and it's all you can eat! They do charge $15 for any left over meat, which is a great policy in my opinion to avoid waste so know when to stop ordering more meat before you can't eat any more! My favorite was the thinly sliced brisket. The servers come by often as your meat cooks to flip it over and cut it up when necessary and take your order for more meat.

Wow

By Frank F |

Great food. Great all-you-can-eat buffet. Great experience. Great value. Not one thing I could fault. Make sure you get there early at weekends or you will have a long wait in line

One the best AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants in LA

By Gallongom |

It is my favorite All You Can Eat Korean BBQ place in Los Angeles. I visit this restaurant when I miss Korean style unlimited BBQ. They serve a hefty spread of vegetables, meat and seafood. Do not forget to drink soju! FYI, make sure that you don't leave meats behind, because they would charge $15.99 for leftover meats and you can't take it home with you either. LA 코리아타운에서 고기를 배불리 먹고 싶다면 가볼만한 곳입니다. 맛이 뛰어나지는 않지만 싼 가격에 고기 먹고 소주 마시기 좋습니다.

Midnight Meat Madness

By firehorse1215 |

Hae Jang Chon is a Korean BBQ restaurant located in L.A.'s Koreatown on 6th street between Serrano and Hobart. Look for the cartoon pig on their sign. Valet parking, but street parking can be found. Best time is later when parking is free and when the dinner crowds have dispersed. Because of it's proximity to USC and UCLA, you will find a lot of college students. Place your name with the hostess and wait. Everyone in your party must be present when she calls your name. They will take you to your table which comes equipped with a stone grill (instead of the common steel one we're used to cooking on) and an overhead exhaust system. Be prepared to go home smelling like KBBQ, so wear something that's easy to wash. Although an a la carte menu is available, most people come for the AYCE KBBQ. At $19.99 for lunch and $21.99 for dinner, it's worth it. Panchan (side dishes) include spinach, kimchi, bean sprouts, potato salad, pickled veggies, and steamed egg were brought to the table immediately. The price included mostly beef and pork, a few seafood items, bbq chicken, kimchi pancake and mushrooms. You're allowed to order 4 items at a time per table. They start the cooking process for you and will come back to check on you. Be careful when you cook for yourself because the stone grill can get very hot. If they sense that you don't know what you are doing, they will come to your table to cook, cut(if needed), and even serve you your food. When the grill gets really dirty, they clean it naturally with shredded radish and water. I was fascinated by how in the end, the dirty liquid was pushed into the little drainage hole and voila: a clean grill! Personally, we enjoyed the brisket, beef tongue, both marinated and unmarinated short ribs, bulgogi, thin sliced Canadian pork belly, baby octopus, and squid. If you are adventurous, try some of the beef intestines and tripe. Each diner gets their own dipping sauces: sweet soy, bean paste (doenjang), chili paste (gochujang), and sesame oil. The best way to eat KBBQ is to take a rice wrapper, place a pickled radish on top, add lettuce, protein of choice, and sauce(s). Roll up and eat! The flavors will burst in your mouth. Repeat over and over til you are full. If you didn't choose regular steamed rice, I suggest ordering the kimchi fried rice which they will cook at your table on your stone grill. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back!

Atmosphere: traditional Korean BBQ restaurant. Service: excellent. Food: excellent

By MCK |

Visiting my friend in LA. and never having had Korean BBQ, my friend knew exactly where to take me to introduce me to it. We went on a Friday at around 7:00 p.m. Parking lot is small but they do have valet parking for $4.00 which worked out perfectly. Not accepting reservations we thought we would have a long wait... people were already lining up, but we only waited 10 minutes and they sat the 2 of us. Justin was our server, he was amazing, very attentive, coming by to stir, cut and check on us regularly. Since it was all you can eat for an $39.99, my friend and I stuck with all the meat and seafood choices, not ordering any carbs or sides. We had the Prime Beef Brisket, Beef Short-ribs, Thick Pork Belly, Beef Finger and Shrimp. All the choices cooked up perfectly. A really fun evening! Atmosphere: traditional Korean BBQ restaurant. Service: excellent. Food: excellent

First timer and hope to go again

By atomicdive |

Just arrived in the LA area for the weekend and found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. For downtown LA the restaurant was easy to find. Parking was simplified by an attendant who ran out to our car to park it for 2 dollars. There is street parking with meters but I do not know what thry charge. Some of the reviews mentioned an hour long wait but on a Friday at 1:30pm it was not bad. We were able to get a table right away. Service was wonderful and a nice variety of side dishes. The servers cook your food and were more than happy to replenish side dishes when asked. Lunch all you can eat was $23.95. They bring out 3 items at a time which was plenty for just 2 of us. We only ordered Bulgogi, Short ribs and Pork Belly. Make sure when you order you plan to eat everything as they charge $15 for any left over meat. We ordered one steam rice and small Kim Chee Fried Rice to complete our meal. Not sure why but the Kim Chee Fried Rice is cooked at your table but not until all of the meats are cooked. For me it was worth the wait. When I am back in the LA area I will definitely come back here again.

All You Can Eat at a great price!

By Ally C |

This is the second time I had been to this place and brought friends along for their first time (won't be their last)! Be sure to get there early because there will definitely be a wait but it was well worth the two hours we had to wait (Keep in mind, it was a Saturday night). Food was amazing! Wait staff was great. I can't wait to go back the next visit to LA.

Just great Korean BBQ

By Don M |

My wife and I ate at Hae Jang Chon Korean BBQ Restaurant for the first time today and was very impressed. We love Korean BBQ andhave eaten at several, this is one you will want to try. Great service and very friendly atmosphere. Valet parking is available. The best part of the meal was the attention the staff gave each table, it was wonderful to watch and be served. Oh did I mention it was all you eat!!

Average food, worth the wait🤔?

By GGMD |

In many reviews, people are mentioning that it worth waiting almost 2 hours to eat their food. My opinion..NO! Waited for 2 hours for the table, hostess was really annoyed and rude, like doing me a favor by giving me a table. Food is good but nothing special. I wouldnt wait for 2 hours if i knew what i would be served. Kimchi rice was unedible. Highly overrated place!!

Lunch in LA

By BlueBirdjourney |

The food was awesome. Service was very good. Place was nice. But parking was not a lot of parking, you have to pay for valet parking. Love all the meat that they have for cooking on the stone, I love that a lot!!! I will come back next time I am in LA again 👍👍👍

Great place

By Bandida1 |

Great place to come hungry. All you can eat meat. Great side dishes that they had. Fresh salad & loved the potato salad.

Great Korean BBQ

By divakern |

The service here is amazing! So attentive and helpful! The food is great! We loved everything about it! We can’t wait to come back next time we are in LA.

Best Korean BBQ in LA!

By Kasia_elwira |

We were there twice. Waiting time is around 1 hour but it's totally worth it! You can take "all you can eat" menu and try many kinds of delicious meet. Food there is amazing and truly reminds you about Korea. That was amazing experience! ;)

Please come with an empty stomach, but need better ventilation

By Janetsplanet |

After reading raving reviews on Yelp, my friend and I met there to do some damage. Please don't at least 2-3 hrs before coming because even with choosing 3 types of meats, we got full very quickly. I wish we had more room in our stomachs to order another type of meat, but they will charge you I think $11 for having left over meats. Ventilation is an issue. Very smoky and not enough venting from the fan above the grill. They had to open the back door in order to let the smoke out. Overall, it's great. You do need to get there by 5pm for dinner or else you'll be in a loooooonnng line. But hey, it's worth the sait.

Popular premium ACYE spot

By Shanelle |

Popular premium all you can eat Korean BBQ spot. Came here for dinner on a Friday evening around 8pm for a group of three and it was a 40 minute wait. This restaurant is open late. There were a couple of big groups but the majority were groups of three to four. There’s some valet parking in the shared lot but I found it easier to park in the street. There were certain items that were an up charge including the tofu soup ($20) and lettuce leaves ($5). Otherwise, the meats were all included and come three at a time in small plates. The steak and the bulgogi were the table favorites. At the end, they can make a Korean fried rice and you can add cheese on top if you so desire. We left feeling extremely full and satisfied.

Best choice for a reasonably priced Korean BBQ in Ktown LA

By PalmSpringsCA |

Always a good experience. The price has gone up a bit over the last couple years, but that is expected. At 18.99$, it's still a fantastic deal! Lots of good banchan and tons of meat choices. I really like cooking it on the ceramic as well. It looks much more appetizing than on the metal surfaces. It gets a 5 b/c of the perfect match between good enough quality and really good price. Surely this isn't the quality of a place like Chosun Galbee, but it's super solid for what it is. Also, I really like the environment. All around good place and stands the test of time consistently as a good choice for AYCE K BBQ...

Amazing experience

By Victor M |

We got to this place for a lunch. The Korean bbq we experienced was beyond any expectation. For 23 dollars you get an unlimited amount of meats and seafood that is grilled literally on your table. Our waitress was very assistive. I definitely recommend this place! There is a valet parking for 2$ outside the restaurant.

Sooo much food fast service

By Ms.Daydream |

We arrived just as the lunch rush started. The line was a bit long but worth the wait. Once we were sad we had ordered and the food was delivered promptly. Only my second time to Korean BBQ but compared to the first place I went to a kind of like this place better if you were upgraded and its a large dining room. Plenty of parking.

Birthday Dinner

By Leslie |

My favorite Korean BBQ place to! The beef tongue and Bulgari is my personal favorite, paired along with the pomegranate soju! The wait ranges from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but worth every minute and every penny.

Great service and good food!

By Juan F |

Looking for a Korean bbq this is the place to go ,you'll find a big variety of meats including shrimp. Salads and kimchi.a buffet style with a service at your table.they will cook for you . You can't get better service .this is one of my kids favorite places to go.

Top of the Line Korean BBQ Buffet--Well Worth the Wait

By Jonathan B |

I've eaten at a lot of Korean BBQ buffets, to include all throughout the Republic of Korea. I'd have to rank Hae Jang Chon right among the top. We went to the buffet after setting up a booth at the Convention Center--tired, hot, and not in a good mood. The line was pretty long, and there was no parking. I ended up giving in an using the valet parking ($2), and we signed up, thinking it wouldn't be too long. Mistake. It took us an hour and 20 minutes. We thought about leaving, but the thought of driving around looking for someplace else was daunting, and the smell coming out was just too good. We started talking to two Angelinos, found out we had much in common, and that helped pass the time. Not a mistake. We finally got in, and both food and service were amazing. We had the prime brisket, bulgogi, kalbi, dagi bulgogi, pork belly, chicken, and octopus. Excellent, excellent. The server was attentive, coming to cut up the kalbi. I had to get another brisket and was totally stuffed when the server cooked kimchi rice on the grill and brought a delicate steamed egg. The food was great, the service was great, the price very reasonable. What else could you want (well, maybe a restaurant twice as big to the wait isn't so long.

Worth the wait! Excellent service.

By ZerLX |

Our first time in LA and we picked this kbbq place based on TA. They do valet parking only in the lot and it's only $2. We were told 45 min wait but it turned out to be 30 mins. Weekend prices are all day dinner prices. Once seated, the food came pretty fast. I think we took longer to order more than anything. Definitely do the thin sliced pork belly and marinated beef bulgogi. I thought I ordered the short ribs but must've have not? They do a great job of being patient and answering questions. Great service and delicious food. My family said it was the best meal of our LA trip.

Awesome time and great food!

By Michael F |

My girlfriend found some great reviews for this place, do we gave it a try. We waited for more than an hour, but it was definitely worth the wait. The environment and crowd was cheerful, seems to be a hang out spot for pre gaming. The price for this all you can eat is unbeatable and of high quality. If you are a carnivore like myself, then look no further because that's the name of the game here, so much that the fried rice is served at the end of the BBQ experience. I'm sure that Koreatown has many great restaurants but this place is a winner, so enjoy!

Korean BBQ Experience

By LLLibrodo |

We were a group of 8 initially for the reservation on a Saturday night. We were warned ahead of time that everyone from the group must be there before they will seat us. They do a head count then it may take a while for them to have your table ready so bring your patience and your appetite. It's worth it. Once the food comes, it's a wonderful experience of self cooking, enjoying your company, and taking your time for the food to digest. The meats come first and you can end off with the rice. The side dishes are excellent. The quality of the meats are awesome. You can't go wrong. We were here for about 2 hours. The servers were really patient and were trying to attend to our requests. All you can eat! Enjoy!

Good AYCE spot, wait sucks

By keyser_soosie |

The days of AYCE BBQ has long ago lost its charm for me. Not sure why we decided to go back here, perhaps it was b/c a friend was in town and we were looking for mass quantities of meat at a cheap price. Again, the wait is too long and not really worth it. I think we waited almost 45 minutes, arrived at 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. Even though it was busy, the service was pretty awesome. Anything and everything we requested, was given to us. They were really good about checking in with us. Meat quality was alright, but seriously, I can't do these anymore. The fried rice at the end shrunk to less than half of what they used to give before. It was a tiny round thing to be shared amongst five people. If you are all about AYCEs, then sure, go for it.

Oh yes, one of the many carnivore heaven in K-town

So come hungry. You MUST love meat!!! Really like the food. Not a romantic place, but then you don't come to a all you can place for that anyway. You come to eat, so eat up. It's all good. But since it's raw meat cooked right there, I generally prefer all the thin cut. You want to 'plan' a bit for the pork belly since it's a thick cut, but not good eaten undone. I also like the waiter, unlike the usual ones in Chinatown

Nice service

We went for a family outing on a weekday afternoon, the waiting was about 20min less than expected. The service was efficient, the waiters brought out food quickly and cooked for us which is great for us since we are new to korean BBQ. Food is delicious and more than abundant. A little bit more communication to introduce the food, small dishes and seasoning would be even better, so is ventilation. Overall great experience!

Small appetite? This is not the place for you!

By MzLyndaC |

My husband and I were new to Korean BBQ, so we put ourselves in the very capable and pleasant hands of our server. We were not disappointed. We could have made a meal out of just the appetizers, but our server, Jae, wouldn't allow it. After brisket, short ribs and pork, we told him we'd had enough meat. He prepared BBQ beef, pork belly, octopus and squid anyway! It was all good, but we were getting stuffed! It was like visiting Grandma's house, where she wont take no for an answer and you don't want to hurt her feelings.....haha. The Kimchi was delicious and spicy, the Kimchi pancake was wonderful and the Kimchi fried rice was....interesting. We waddled out of the restaurant, thanking Jae for his wonderful service. If I had any complaint, it would be that nearly every female server we encountered was sour-faced and just this side of surly. Several different servers stopped at our table to turn meat or pick up dishes, and the ladies seemed to want to be any place else. Another young man named Jason made our Kimchi Rice and talked and joked with us the whole time. Aside from that, we had a great time, loved the food and will definitely go there again. But, we will probably fast for a day beforehand!

ALL YOU CAN EAT KOREAN BBQ. great sides. although very crowded it was a fun outing with friends and the service was ok but the food more than made up for it. long lines though

Deliciousness!

By Tina L |

Prompt and friendly service with excellent food, what else is there to say? We had the all-you can-eat lunch today and sincerely enjoyed this restaurant. My son is learning to speak Korean and they were happy to indulge in conversing with him, even though they were busy during their rush.

great meat, pricey though.

By Michael T |

This place was alright, I don't think it's worth the wait considering you have to pay quite a bit more than other korean bbqs. The meat was very good and the little dishes were delicious as well. However, I can't get over the price point and the wait that was required to get in here. I think your time is better spent somewhere else.

Unique experience

By trecakov |

I had a dinner with friends and that was a perfect combination. Unique way of preparation and sharing the meal. Try more combinations of food. Would go there again any time. Tip: make a reservation or be there before you get hungry, there is always a line and you have to wait until somebody finishes. Recomended

Absolutely great BBQ and atmosphere

By travelonthebrain |

They have an all you can eat buffet and it is beautifully set up around abig frying pan with little side dishes and sauces. You can get them refilled all the time and have three different kinds of prepared meat cook at the same time. We spent hours here just eating because it was so good! The price is excellent for what you get and the staff is super attentive.

Great for kids, too

By JanetMcE |

Hae Jang Chon is family friendly. I had friends visiting from DC and it's not easy to find places where kids are welcome, the food is great, and the price is OK. The all you can eat BBQ is where it's at! Choose the thin pork belly, steamed egg - I know sounds funny but is super tasty - a bit salty, tho, bulgogi, shrimp and surprisingly the kimchi pancakes. Even if you don't do spicy there are great options here. The best condiment for you is the seasoned fermented soypaste - sounds nasty, but is super flavorful.

delicious and they mostly cook it for you

By Tyson C |

We had landed at LAX and were driving home and wanted some KBBQ. This was the spot to chose. Don't really remember the prices but I am sure it was fair. I love that they pretty much cook it for you, and OMG they had the best water I have ever tasted. I want to go back for the water Super great place,

Great food and excellent service!

By RM-advisor |

We had about a 40 minute wait on a Friday night but it was worth it. The staff worked as a team like a well oiled machine. I also mentioned my food restrictions to the server and with the busy crowd of customers that he had, he did not forget the whole time.

Hannah the hostess was pretty rude

By Rebekah J |

Hannah the hostess was pretty rude but the food and our server Andy was great. I went last night (Wednesday) at 7pm and waited an hour to be seated but it went by fast. Also had the pineapple soju which was good.

First Time here was fabulous

By Rhona G |

Korean Bar BQ here was delicious and this place is fun. Even with a reservation we waited about 15 min but even without a reservation your wait will be worth it. The servers are very patient with our many questions about the menu. The marinated meats are wonderfully tasty. Try it and you will love it.

Delicious - A Fantastic Dinner with Friends - Reservations Essential!!

By StephenSDenver |

I lived in Korea for 18 months and this bbq spot is legit. I really like their system - each person pays a flat price and then you can order as much as you want from the many types of seasoning and meat (we had pork, beef and squid). Reservations are highly recommended - we came on a random Tuesday and they had a wait. Also, they are very strict with their reservations - make sure everyone in your party is there on time!

Amazing Experience!!

By FamilyoffourPA |

We have never been to a Korean BBQ. We were close to this one and reviews were good. Very clean, very busy. Both good signs. We loved it. The food and service were exceptional. We are already planning another visit.

Incredible first korean BBQ!

By caro |

It was the first time we went to a korean BBQ, and the food was worth the wait! Great meat, great sauces, great kimchi, great beer, great service, great sides, i think everything was great.

Good Food

By Guido T |

It is a quaint little restaurant in Koreantown the service is incredible. You will encounter 5-6 different people cooking your food for you. It gets packed and once you drive into the strip mall parking lot there is a $3 Valet charge. Great experience

Dinner Drinks and Fun

Stone grill makes the meat a tad bit better then others . Kimchi fried rice cooked by the end was a must . Thin slice pork belly , steamed eggs , vegetables soup ,salad , service very good .

Believe the hype!! Worth the wait!

By shellhutch |

We really wanted to explore Korea town and try Korean bbq. So I came to trip advisor and found this place. Everything is true! Amazing food! Amazing deal! And a crowd of people waiting, even on a rainy Tuesday night. We had a reservation for 8pm. Got there early at 7:40 and there was a big crowd outside. We checked in and waited. We were seated around 8:15, so not bad at all. Now we were virgins at Korean BBQ and i would have liked a little more explanation but we figured it out. The sides were great, sauces good, meats so tasty! The only odd thing to me was if you wanted lettuce it was an extra $5. The beef Bulgogi was fantastic!

All you can eat!

By Eunice L |

Decently priced all you can eat korean BBQ - they just keep it coming! Because of its popularity it can be difficult to get a seat so expect to wait a while for a table if you're coming during peak dinner hours, but if you get there early enough (like 5pm) then the line isn't too long.

No table for one.

By Satyaki M |

So I went there for the AYCE lunch since it was close to where I was styaing in LA. It was moderately empty since I was there at 11:30 ish. I asked them for a table for one. AAAAAND I was told its a minimum of two to serve? What? Even if its ok that they dont want to serve ppl who are just by themselves or traveling to the city, they should atelast mention it somewhere. Since they refused to as the proverb goes "shut up and take my money", I decided to have some food at a differnet restaurant nearby which was pretty nice.

Amazing Korean BBQ

By Martin G |

Im mexican, but this place was awesome, the wait is a little to much, but is worth it. The waiter sow that we were strugling a little, and start giving us tips and helping us do the cooking. All the sides were really good and we have an amazing time.

Excellent Korean BBQ

By Mohsman |

This was my first Korean BBQ dinner at one of my son's favorite places. I am not a big fan of the genre, having tried it, but this place was excellent. Be prepared to wait if you do not get there early. They have valet parking, because the lot was small and crowded. The five of us had a great time. They offer an remarkable number of meat and other items to BBQ, rice, soup. etc. They also had a full bar. I was relieved that the servers cooked the food, and they were very attentive, friendly, patient and efficient. I did enjoy most of the food choices, not all, and the three in our party (from LA) who go to Korean BBQ were convinced this place is as good as they come. Being a rookie, I cannot comment. If you are a Korean BBQ fan, it is certainly worth a visit. If you are new to Korean BBQ, why not try it first at a good, fun place?

Koreatown BBQ

By Heguang Z |

All you can eat Korean bbq $25.99 for lunch. Quite busy and most customers are from out of town according to the hair dresser next door. The servers cook the meat on a stone top. Loved the beef short rib meat.

Busy Place - Strange reception

By JPKACH |

Reservations are a must with a group although the young women at the reception is quite clueless and uninterested in general as she never looks up and keeps telling people that there is a 90 minute wait and write your name on the list while pointing to a clipboard. "Excuse me, we have a reservation." "Oh Ok", still clueless. Basically, "Let me seat this group of 2 with no reservation who is next on the list at that table over there set for 8 before I sit your group of 8 with a reservation that you are on time for." Then out of nowhere she said goodnight to her colleague and went home. Strange indeed. When the young man who took over found us a table the service and food were both excellent. Everything was a hit. Price for adults is quite reasonable at $25 however any child over 7 years old is charged the adult price which seems a bit unreasonable (the kids' price is around $12). Maybe an age cutoff at 12 would seem more fair. Parking is also an interesting task. When the valet tells you there is no more space and you pull into a space that someone is pulling out of, the valet rushes over to take your keys and give you a ticket. Ha! it's only $2 but what a comical racket!

Prefer Road to Seoul

By cuetxpie |

Finally I got to eat at this place where more people are standing outside waiting to get in than the amount of people that were actually eating inside. We made a reservation for 8 people for Saturday (they do not accept any reservations on weekends that are less than 8 people). Unfortunately someone couldn't make it. When we arrived to the restaurant I told the hostess of our last minute drop out. She asked if everyone else was here and I told her yes. And lo and behold, she said she will seat us in 5 minutes. NICE! Of course we all got the AYCE: -Brisket: I enjoyed the brisket the most (usually I am not a brisket fan). -Squid: very delicious. Although the serving was small. So if that's what you like, make sure you get a double order. -Short Ribs: This was a big hit with us! -BBQ Pork: Pretty good but we didn't bother ordering seconds. -Bulgogi: This was so so believe it or not. The sauce was way too overpowering. -Hot Dog: We got it thinking it was marinated in some sort of sauce, but nope, just regular hot dog (haha). -Fried rice: It was ok. Spicy. Bummed that they didn't make it into a heart shape. Haha. CON: -One grill for 7 people: We spent most of our time waiting and not so much eating. And when it was finally time to eat, our portions were very small since it had to be split amongst 7 people. -Small table: The grill took up most of the table's surface. We had to constantly remove dishes just to make room. Would I come here again? I don't think so. Now that I've tried what the hype was all about I can check it from my list. I definitely prefer Road to Seoul than here.

Best KBBQ experience ever

By Alicia L |

My boyfriend and I hail from Melbourne (Aus), where KBBQ is a popular but rather pricely dining option; all-you-can-eat korean BBQ is pretty much unheard of there. That is why we knew we HAD to try an AYCE K-BBQ restaurant while in Koreatown! Hae Jang Chon is an established restaurant with a great reputation, and we are proud to declare ourselves fans following our amazing experience here. Basically, you pay ~$28 per person for AYCE dinner, which includes: 3 types of delicious and refillable banchan, 2 types of kimchi, 2 types of wraps (radish and rice), 20+ varieties of meat/seafood, steamed eggs, kimchi fried rice and kimchi pancakes. They have a policy where you can only order 3 servings at one time, and you have to pay an additional fee if you do not finish the meat - great idea for minimising wastage, as we would definitely have gone overboard initially with our ordering given everything looked so good. The meat quality was pretty decent (our favourite was the beef tongue and the short ribs), and the service was detailed and amazing. We were never left unattended for long, and all the servers worked together to make sure that our meat was not burnt. We left extremely satisfied and sad that this restaurant does not exist in Melbourne. Would highly recommend KBBQ lovers to give this a try if visiting LA!

BEST AAYCE KRN BBQ HANDS DOWN!

By Roshlynn |

Location: In koreatown! It is within a very small plaza and believe it or not they have valet parking. Sounds a little bit silly because the plaza is so small but I guess it is worth it. Better then trying to go around the whole neighborhood looking for street parking. I would recommend just paying for valet because the wait for this place could be long! Imagine looking for parking for a long time then having to wait even longer for your table. (They do not take you in until your whole party arrives, so don't be stuck looking for parking!) Customer Service: My bf called in I would say an hour before because we were coming from WestMinister and when I had called they told me I couldn't make a reservation but when he called I have no idea what he said but they let him put down our reservation! Whatever works for me!!! So thank you to Kevin (I believe that's his name) Decor: Not too big not too small, a good amount of tables. They have what they serve on big baords which is good. You don't always need the menu by your side. Presentation of Food: Big round clay pan type of cooking ware which is wear you bbq the meat. First time seeing krn bbq cooked on something like this and it cooks well! They have little banchan unlike the other krn bbq palces I've been to in the bay but it's ok. They had some sort of potato salad which was good because it had cut up apples in it, some greens that reminded me of mini chinese broccoli but I doubt it's chinese broccoli (just some sort of steamed greens), a fish cake banchan which was spicy but good, and also small little rice papers. Also they had the spicy bean sprouts and kkimchi for banchans of course! They had 4 different dipping sauces (sesame oil, another type of oil, two different chili paste). We picked the kimchi pancake along with the steamed egg(steamed egg wasn't too good but the kimchi pancake was up to par). How did the food taste?: All the meat that came out was PERFECT, except for the spicy pork which was very dissapointing because we were all expecting this to steal the show. Both the thick and the thin cut of the pork belly was sooo good but I prefer the thin cut. We got squi, baby octupus, and shrimp which I could have opted out on because not much flavor because it's not completely seasoned but good none the less. The brisket, well you can never go wrong with brisket and that was amazing! The bulgogi was good, but the one that toally stole the show was the beef short rib. zOMG! It was so tender and so juicy, and just sooooo good!!!! Overall Experience: We actually came here before two years ago but the line was so long that we had to drive back to the bay area that we just said forget it! BIG MISTAKE! The wait is worth it and we should have went the first time. Now this will always be on the list on the way home after a trip to LA! Would I Come Back?: YESSSSSSS

Wonderful FOOD!

By Breanne07 |

Make sure you read all the fine print about order and having extra meat, you dont want to have an extra charge you could avoid. The restroom was clean and some didnt seam to understand english or our questions but we got along. The food was wonderful, the experience was amazing. The Kamsie Rice was spicy, I didnt try the spicy meat but some of my party did and enjoyed it. We also tried Octopus. We mostly ate the meat didnt like most of the sides that they set on the table, wasn't sure how to really wrap it eat it but I enjoy the radish thin wrappers. I ate some of the rice paper but it was too thick to my liking. My favorite was the marinated chicken and beef shoulder. We also tried octopus because it was there to try. It was a good price for all you can eat at lunch.

Wasn't impressed

By John K |

This was the first time going to a Korean BBQ in the states. Sadly my first and only time was in Japan and it was amazing. So maybe that killed Korean BBQ for me but anyways. I think it was decent. but I was by no means impressed by anything. We tried a pretty large array of meat. Id say the BBQ beef was the favorite. The one thing I thought was weird was that the plate didn't really get very hot enough to cook the meat fast / crispy. Also no vegetables were really offered other than onions and maybe a couple more. Price wise definitely too expensive for how much I ate. Didn't really get to that full feeling.

Everytime I visit LA..

By stefnani |

MUST eat here worth the money Get the Lengua! (dont be scared of it) No reservations, completely worth the wait. Go Hungry, Save room for the Kimchi fried rice!

Come here when starving!

By johnjoelseow |

This is a buffet restaurant, so come here if you are really hungry! The queue was horrendous, we had to queue for about an hour before we got a table (for 12). The food definitely did not disappoint! I recommend the belly pork and the bulgogi. The waitstaff are really efficient and they will even do some of the cooking. At the very end, we ordered fried rice which the waitress cooked together with our leftover meat. Absolutely delicious!

Use their valet and be prepared to wait

By Christina T |

Ok, so my best friend is Korean and loves this place. It was my first Korean BBQ experience but a great one. The wait is a bit steep - almost enough to make me want to go elsewhere. But, I was glad we hung in there. The quality of the food was good and the service was great! This is a great place to come for AYCE and with a group of friends, as it was relaxed and you can be loud. I'd definitely go back. Oh, and just pay for the valet up front. It's cheap and worth it. If you need a cool place to grab a beer while you wait. Walk 2 doors down to Café Seoul where they have tons of great craft beers on draft.
