Located in the Alberta arts area, this is a great place for dinner. Four of us stopped here for dinner and were impressed with the friendly service and fresh food. Our table had bentos and sushi and everyone commented on the freshness and good taste of the food. I would recommend this restaurant and will go again during our visit.

I came in by myself because I was craving some sashimi. I was not disappointed with they sashimi plate A that came with Nigiri and a roll of choice. I paid extra for a deluxe roll and it was totally worth it. I will definitely be back.

Fresh Uni (Sea Urchin) but get it quick, they have a limited supply but oh is it delicious! Also, even for a sushi house try getting their generous bowls of ramen or udon. The Spicy Seafood Ramen is tasty, quite flavorful and just enough heat to still be enjoyed. The decor is definitely whimsical and Japanese "Lucky' red. They have a solid sake list to choose from as well, but Genma Cha (roasted rice tea) is the best! Service staff is friendly and local, they know the menu which helps if you can't decide or understand their menu options.

we ordered to go for the duck game. enrergy , oregon, hawaiian, and super veggie rolls, plus mackerel ....everything was tasty and fresh. just the right amount of food too. the staff was friendly.

We stopped by for a late quick lunch. It was very quiet but pleasant. I treated myself to a Sapporo and a special dish of the day, see photo. It was well presented, and tasty

wow...what a great selection of sushi! The conveyor belt just keeps cranking out more excellent dishes. Many sushi restaurants of this type tend to recycle some of the items from the day before...not Hana! Each item was very fresh and tasty! I especially liked the Calamari and the Tempura; however, several other items were worth mentioning..the spicy tuna roll, and the pepper tuna. The warmed california rolls were also excellent. I finished off my lunch with the sesame/bean curd rolls...and excellent dessert to finish an excellent lunch!

We strolled along Alberta Street which is one of Portland's must see areas with so many food trucks, restaurants, cafés and shops and wanted to eat Japanese which we did. Got us diner bento plates with a lot of food, sushi, tonkatsu, salad, fried vegetables and desert (sesame balls) for 16 $ which is a very good price. Everything was delicious. Highly recommendable place!

We came here for the first time after the most recent Last Thursday event. Several people from our group have lived in Japan for many years and we were all impressed. The service was good, the server was very friendly. The sushi was definitely not traditional but they had some good roll options. The kaki fry (friend oysters) were great and their soba was a pleasant surprise. Prices were very reasonable as well. Definitely will be back!

Never been to a place like this before, it was quite the experience. The value is amazing for all the sushi you can try. My kids loved being able to try new things. Lots of fun

My husband and I got sushi here and were very pleased. They are one of the few places that we've found in the area to offer real crab. The sushi was well made (didn't fall apart when eating with chopsticks) and the ingredients were very fresh. Service was friendly, although unremarkable. The decor was a little strange (Paris posters?)...

We made it in for Happy Hour just before the service ended the other day. We ordered a plate of sushi and sashimi. The quality was really good. Some of the raw fish almost melted in the mouth. The beers during happy hours are $2.95 I believe which was nice. Also, the house sake was really tasty. We're trying to get a bit more into Sake and this was a nice continuation of our learning about this wonderful drink. Hope to go back there again soon.

we returned to hana for lunch yesterday...i had the asahi lager, and my partner had the sapporo...we shared a mixed greens salad, the oregon roll, the venice roll, and the veggie roll...everything was delicious and the staff is very friendly and quick...thx so much

I was visiting my son in Portland and found myself with a day to myself, so I made my way to Alberta St in NE Portland to do a little shopping. It was a Monday and many of the stores were closed so I was very happy to find that Hana was open for lunch! On entering I noticed that there were a few tables with diners and two people sitting at the sushi bar. The atmosphere was light and airy, and the floors and tables appeared to be clean. I seated myself at the sushi bar and took note of the fresh fish selections in the cooler window; everything was brightly colored and looked to be very fresh. The menu consisted of sushi and kitchen-made items, most with pictures to accompany the listing. The sushi menu was quite extensive, but I didn't see any rolls without rice, which is my preference. Upon questioning the server about rice-free rolls, she turned to the sushi chef who told me about their Energy Roll; an assortment of fresh fish wrapped in cucumber with a spicy sauce. Perfect! I started with a bowl of Miso soup. It tasted exactly right, with chopped green onion and little cubes of tofu floating in it. I've been spoiled by a local Florida restaurant's Miso soup and this one met the challenge! It was served quite hot in the traditional soup cup with the ladle-looking spoon we all use for soup in oriental restaurants. Very satisfying. I also ordered a small sake to sip while awaiting my Energy Roll and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is at happy-hour prices all day during the week. Once again, perfect. The sushi chef handed his creation over the counter to me with a big smile on his face. He apparently was very pleased with himself, and rightly so since the presentation was very appealing. The proof is in the pudding, so they say, and I was very pleased with the freshness, taste and texture of the Energy Roll. The pieces of fish in the cucumber were not cubed, but still were bite sized and the spicy sauce was a nice complement to the entire dish. The only negative comment that I have about the roll, and it's only a personal preference, is that the cucumber wasn't sliced thinly enough for my taste and I ended up leaving some of it on the plate. The service from my server was good with my only negative comment being that I was not asked if I would like to order anything else before she presented the check. Again, this is a personal preference. Overall, I highly recommend Hana Sushi for everything mentioned above; cleanliness and food quality being at the top of the list. Go ahead and give Hana a try. And, while you're at it, order an Energy Roll.

we love going to hana for lunch..i began with a kirin lager, and my partner had a pint of sapporo...we shared the house salad, rolls: hana special veggie, caterpillar, and a mackerel nigiri..the food is delectable, and the environment relaxing...the server was very friendly, and the food was served quickly...great place as usual..thx

Where do I begin? Hana Sushi is right in the middle of the Arts District (perfect for a stroll). My sister and I had heard great things about Hana and we decided to try it out during our weekend in Portland. I'm really big on presentation so I loved the way our order was presented. We ordered salmon roe and two sushi rolls (forgot the names) with a bottle of wine. The sushi was brought out on a boat!! I thought it was the cutest thing!

Completely recommend this spot. Amazing service (karissa) and food was amazing. By yourself, on a date, meeting friends. This spot is very versatile for any occasion. #kp

we returned to hana as the sushi is delicous. we began a sapporo lager, and my partner had hot sake. both were thirst quenching. we shared the black and white roll, the wau wau rolls, mackerel rolls, energy rolls, and supper veggie rolls...they featured eel, yellowfin, tuna, and shrimp....it was superb..thx so much...the ambiance is always relaxing and quiet, and the server friendly and efficient... just what we needed...

we returned to hana for lunch yesterday...i had a kirin, and my partner had a sapporo...hit the spot...i had a mixed green salad, and she had the mackerel...next we shared the hawaiian roll, the veggie roll, and the portland roll....exceptional....the staff is always friendly and quick....thx!

Bit of an old school place that we stumbled upon. Prices were great and food was fantastic. Staff were also very accommodating and wonderful. I highly recommend

We were wandering down Alberta (so many good places) on a Saturday night, looking for a place where we could get a table right away. We walked into Hana and had a lovely light meal of yummy rolls and tried two small bottles of Sake--each lovely. There are plenty of good sounding things on the menu--so we'll be back. This was a happy find. Our service was excellent and prices reasonable for this type of meal.

we wanted to return to hana before the duck game, and had the oregon roll, veggie, mackerel, black and white, salad, and kirin lagers....we had more rolls, tuna and salmon, but the names escape me...the staff are always great, friendly, and quick...love coming here...so delicious

we returned to hana for lunch...i began with akirin lager, and my partner had the sapporo lager....next, we had the house salad with divine dressing, portland roll, mackerel and seared albacore tuna rolls, and the hana special...the drink and food was amazing as always...the server was very friendly...the jazz was comfy on a rainy day...thx

The lunch special sushi platter is perfect for 3. I added 2 favorites - cucumber salad and edamame. Skipped the saki at lunch. Nice all around.

Hana seems to have changed hands recently judging by the odd decor additions. The sushi was just so-so (unlike past visits). Won't return.
Such good food!
We had a beautiful dinner at the bar and really enjoyed the freshness of all the ingredients. We shared a Chef's Choice sushi salad, which had a gorgeous array of sashimi chunks over salad. Everything we ordered was spot on!
