They serve heavenly breakfasts, though open the whole day. Cozy place, good coffee, many choices. Service is good. I ordered their Chicken Sausage with rice twice already. It was served with eggs and a choice of biscuit. The second time i ordered it i chose the Spanish rice and it was delicious. Try also the pancakes.

Had breakfast here 3 days in a row. Great service and great food! Would highly recommend the Mexican omelette. Locally owned and operated.

This is one of the best hidden Gems I have found in a very long time. A very nondescript building that resembles more of a fast serve take out than diner it was a wonderful find. The serve breakfast from open to close. They have a wide range menu of diner specialties including Club Sandwich, Meatloaf and Chicken Strips. Their homemade mashed were delicious. The house salad was incredibly fresh The service was fantastic. This is a must visit if you are in San Pedro

Who would believe that a place that looks like a hoe in the wall would be so amazing? I am not even a fan of Mexican food, but I loved their combinations. You can be as innovative as you want

Very pleasant diner. The food comes out quick and cooked well. The staff are very friendly. Went for breakfast and we were very pleased.

We stopped in here to grab a bite to eat while waiting to board a cruise ship in San Pedro. It's only about a five minute drive from the cruise parking. Breakfast, service, and prices were great. Will do again.

Expansive menu, freshly prepared. Seven of us went for breakfast and were very happy with our meals. I would return and recommend.

Love to have breakfast here, food always fresh and tasty. Now due to Covid 19, there is no inside dining, and there is limited outside seating now, but they do have the same menu to go. TIP: Call if you want to sit outside. If you’ve found this review helpful I would appreciate a thumbs up below.

This is a little place a couple of blocks from the maritime museum. We stopped for breakfast and enjoyed it tremendously. In additional to the menu, be sure to look at the board for the days specials. Definitely worth a meal.

This is a very short walk from the Crowne plaza where we were staying. I'm so glad that it was because it was one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had! I decided to try something completely new to me and the waitress recommended "anything with the verde sauce" so I went with the chefs special. Tortillas topped with hashbrowns, shredded pork, smothered in verde sauce, with cheese, sour cream and guacamole... Yummmmm!! I was in heaven! Seriously check this place out if your in town or take a drive, It's worth it! There Is only one other place I've had a breakfast so memorable and that was in grand haven,mi (oatmeal pancakes mmm) anyway this place has got the goods!!

My friend and I had lunch there and it was really good. I had a tuna melt with onion rings and he had a beef dip with fries. I'll be going back for some breakfast!

We like walking over to this very friendly local breakfast spot. The services is always good! We have tried many things on the menu and they have all been good!! We will be back

This is not really a diner, but a small-town family-style restaurant. It serves many breakfast items and regular cafe fare. We visited for late lunch after touring the USS Iowa nearby. I had the meatloaf sandwich, a dish not likely recommended by my cardiologist. Take a thick slice of tasty meatloaf, grill it, add cheese, grilled onions and mushroom gravy on top, put it between two slices of sourdough bread and grill it some more. Add crispy French fries and you have a juicy treat. My companion had the veggie burger, which he declared to be delicious. Good service, small town cafe atmosphere complete the setting.

Just popped in here for breakfast. Delicious fresh food and excellent service, friendly staff, very good value for money. Highly recommend.

We have been to the Happy Diner on Center twice in two weeks. And we live 60 miles away! Actually we are moving to the San Pedro area next month, and have been scouting out restaurants. This one ranks at the top of our list. Came back a second time just to be sure our first visit wasn't a fluke, Nope, it was not. They specialize in good service, excellent food, and believe in living up to the name of the restaurant. They have an awesome variety of omelets and breakfast specials. That is as far as we got on the menu, but after a few more visits, we will be able to rate the lunches and dinners too. Try it, you will come back fro more!

After two breakfasts (one carry out) and a dinner we are convinced this is a great diner. The downtown omelet is substantial and tasty. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Service was fast. It is just around the corner from the Crowne Plaza. Well worth the short walk of you are staying at the Crowne.

After a visit to the USS Iowa we were feeling peckish and headed into San Pedro rather than drive all the way back to downtown LA. I'm glad we did as we came across this little gem. The place was empty except for our group but looking around the place gave off a good vibe so we stayed. That good vibe continued as we waited on our order as the member of staff who took ours greeted customers who started to come in for takeaway by name. The four of us all enjoyed our meals as the food was so tasty and service was friendly. I ordered John's omelette which was delicious, hence the eggcellent. Only quibble was my tea, the water wasn't boiled but that was my fault because I didn't ask and naturally it doesn't come to mind in a nation of coffee drinkers. I'm sure if I'd requested boiled water it wouldn't have been a problem as the service was so good.

Nice little diner, with the emphasis on little! It was a tight squeeze when we went but I'm glad we did. The breakfast was great. Staff very nice and trying hard to get everything just right. Great coffee!

Little gem of a place we found by accident! Lovely food and even better staff. Very friendly and happy to help. Breakfast Bagel highly recommended!!!

We found this place using a different review app. With that said, we ordered the Banana nut French toast, coconut waffle, kids pancakes. The food did not disappoint! My banana nut French toast was great! Fresh bananas and everything. The waffle was also great but overwhelmed my wife at the end for the sweetness. Only gripe was that our 2 year old got her meal last. That was weird and unusual. My guess is that that doesn't happen very often. I suppose we will find out the next time we go. Seating can be tough for large groups n

Check out Happy Diner! Great food, great value, friendly service, perfect. Its a diner and feels like one, its like you’re a regular the first time you walk through the door. Make sure you try it. Won’t be disappointed

Great Food- Great Service-Amazing Prices for quality. It is a Small Diner (only 8 tables and a high stool counter for 5). Great/Quick/Friendly Service by Caesar each evening I was there. Good well priced food: -Patty Melt 9usd with two cheeses and grilled onions (only needed a bit of salt and pepper)- I took it to-go the first night with good breaded onion rings— I prefer batter dipped but these were good. -10oz. rib eye 15usd…meat was good for the price, cooked perfectly medium rare (my request), mashed potatoes were made in house and done very well (as good as mom’s or mine). The two most outstanding things on my rib-eye order: the wonderful freshly sautéed side veggies: early tender string beans, yellow summer squash, and carrots (tender, not over-cooked or under-cooked)— perfectly cooked and still warm. This included a salad that was romaine lettuce, lots of cucumbers, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, and sliced black olives—twice the size than I expected. AMAZING quality for the price. (I also got the carrot cake-- was disappointed--too dry) Tonight I am getting their San Pedro Super Burrito... The food is great, the price is great, the service quick…the clientele is appears to be 95% hispanic. Think of this as a NON-Franchise “Denny’s” that is family owned by three brothers…BEST TYPE OF PLACE TO FREQUENT. Additional info: I was staying four days at the Crowne Plaza LA Harbor Hotel and I ate here three times 8:30pm -9:00p. I've read a review about the area that a single woman wrote she didn't feel safe on the streets here. I didn't have that opinion...the streets are dark but I saw single women walking from buildings at 9:30pm ... I am a solo traveler, a 62 yr. old male but I never felt unsafe walking on the streets in this area.

This was one of the best places to eat in the port area!! I had read reviews do we decided to venture out and eat here instead of the restaurant in our hotel!! DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Reasonable priced, and made from fresh ingredients, try the coconut pineapple waffles!!

Don't judge this place by the nondescript tiny entrance. We were so pleasantly surprised! Once inside we were greeted by very friendly servers, a nice atmosphere, a menu with a full selection of breakfast lunch and dinner items. One of us had a full breakfast order, another had a burger - made to order, and the third tried a pasta dish. The portions were generous, the side salad with the pasta came with plentiful veggies on top, and the food was delicious! Our only regret was we were too full to try the amazing milk shakes we saw our neighbor table enjoying. I highly recommend Happy Diner!

This little hole in the wall place in, the harbor area, is great for a down home cooked to order breakfast. One block behind the Crown plaza it is very convenient and less expensive than the hotel. Bring your appetite, it is filling. I had the huevos rancheros which was excellent. There were a few issues though. My husbands order was wrong and the waiter poured coffee into my tea, but all in all it was a good experience.

We were staying at the crown plaza hotel for 2 nights before joining our cruise, we planned on just using the hotel for breakfast but after a terrible experience in the restaurant on our 1st night we decided that we were safer to eat elsewhere. We found happy diner on trip advisor and decided to give it a go- how pleased we did, it was more than what we expected, we were greeted with a pleasant good morning and attended to throughout with excellent customer service. The food was also excellent, we received plentiful amounts of coffee refills with no extra cost on our final bill. If you are in the area we would highly recommend you visiting this little gem we are positive you will not be disappointed. Thank you guys !

Great food, huge menu, friendly service, and what more can you say? But my review had to be 100’characters so I’ll say it was an easy walk from the IHG hotel

Very nice discovery. Excellent service. You receive your coffee in less than a minute. Very good plate. Eggs, hash browns and excellent sausages well accompanied by an amazing little homemade salsa. Very nice restaurant. Unique character and personal service. Little restaurants like I like them. You can go without hesitation.

Found this fabulous hidden jem this morning and it most certainly didnt disappoint! wonderful homecooked breakfast served with a smile. Waffles qere outrageously delish! Cant say enough...if youre looking for where the locals go this is it!

We were staying at a nearby hotel that had a very poor restaurant and so we looked online to find something nearby. A three minute walk got us to the diner. We had an amazing breakfast.

This diner was located behind the Crowne Plaza, and was an easy walk. The diner caters to stevedores, and features large portions. The breakfast was awesome and reasonably priced.

A hiking group of seniors stopped by after our hike in San Pedro. They look small and narrow but there is one big (relatively) room in the back with two longer tables that actually fit us a group of 18 people. Food was good portion and delicious. What everyone liked was that food is not salty or greasy. The service was fast, friendly, and very efficient. She allowed us to have individual bills - no extra charge. Definitely will be back when in the area again.

Ventured to this diner with the family and had a nice experience. The service was great. All of the workers were friendly and our waitress was excellent. She was personable, great with the kids, and checked on us often. I ordered the breakfast bacon cheeseburger, which was basically a cheeseburger with a fried egg. It was big and juicy, and definitely filling. The wife tried the carne asada fries, which she said were tasty. She liked how there were plenty of toppings to go with the fries. The three kids tried the cheeseburger, grilled cheese, and quesadilla. All of the kids gobbled up thier meals so you know it had to be good. Overall a great dining experience from this nice little diner. If ever in the area again we would definitely be back for more.

When the wife and I go on vacation we always try to stop and eat at Mom and Pop restaurants. The happy Diner is done right the food was excellent prices good Services prom. The wife and I had breakfast I had to downtown omelette the wife had a oatmeal never seen a bowl with oatmeal that big. Downtown omelette mushrooms sausage bacon sour cream and cheese and butter. If you ever going through San Pedro you must stop here.

Was here for a lunch right after i arrived from the airport, the service is very friendly and the food is not expensive. I will go back for breakfast one of the days i am here.

We went to the new Happy Diner on Gaffey Street. I can honestly say that this is the best place for breakfast. The diner is very clean and nice. The service was excellent! I got the veggie omelet, it was stuffed full of veggies and avocado, served with fresh salsa. My husband got the oatmeal served with raisins, brown sugar and milk. He said it was great. The staff couldn't be nicer and you didn't have to wait for anything. The prices were great for the portion. We probably won't be going any place else after trying the Happy Diner! I'm sure we will be there very often!

The portions are huge, but the food is average. The service was friendly and fast. The restaurant is a breakfast gem, but for dinner you have other opportunities in the area

Food is excellent they serve eggs whole day and chef is amazing thank you for having me as your guest and grilled chicken to with Vegas just amazing .thanks guys for customising the menu for me .

My Dad spent 32 years in the US Navy. One of his favorite things to eat was S.O.S., and he passed that down to me. I usually make it on Sundays to honor him (yeah, I know, weird). Imagine my delight when I saw S.O.S. on the menu at the Happy Diner. I was having a hard time deciding what to eat because so much sounded great, but as soon as I saw S.O.S. on the board (make sure you look at the chalkboard over the front door, not everything is listed on the menu) my mind was made up. What I got was not S.O.S. It was good, but not even close to S.O.S. It was crumbled up hamburger patties in gravy on white bread. It also comes with eggs and potatoes. I'm still kind of disappointed because I really wanted S.O.S., but I will definitely eat there again because so much of the huge selection sounded very good, and the waitress was super duper great.

We had heard of this breakfast place and were eager to try it. Some relatives beat us there and texted us. This place does not disappoint. Quantity and quality are first class. It's obvious that the locals flock here in the morning. Luckily when we arrived we were seated right away.

Checked into our hotel Crowne Plaza after a 5 hour drive without stopping for lunch. Guest Registration suggested the Happy Diner. It was a short walk away. It is a Diner, but clean with a large menu. My husband and I shared a 10 Oz. Ribeye steak dinner. The dinner salad was large and the steak cooked perfectly. My only negative is the mashed potatoes had to much garlic for us. The prices are very reasonable. May go back for breakfast before heading to the dock.

We had breakfast at Happy Diner. It’s a hole in a wall but don’t let the outside appearance keep you from a super friendly and warm atmosphere. The food is so very delicious. It comes out hot, seasoned well, and tasty. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the food. It was so delicious that I totally forgot. The cheese omelette and pancakes were scrumptious. I did wish I had Log Cabin syrup to put on my pancakes. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff are knowledgeable, friendly, smiling and very efficient. The Happy Diner is a gem.

We were staying in the area for a couple of nights pre-cruise and wanted a substantial mid-morning breakfast. Happy Diner has a large menu with all of the traditional breakfast offerings with a slightly Hispanic influence. It was busy but staff were attentive an ad food was prepared quickly. Food quality was excellent as is the price.

I love so many things on their menu. The churro waffle is my favorite dessert. If you're looking for a variety this is a great place.

A short walk from the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Great food, great prices, and attentive wait staff. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Element diner. Reasonable prices. Different items. Authentic Mexican food. Taco salad and burrito to die for. When back in the area will stop in.

My husband and I had a late lunch at Happy Diner today. My husband wanted to eat a pastrami sandwich which was not on the menu. The waitress gladly took the order without hesitation. A few minutes later the manager came over to ask what kind of condiments would he like on it (mustard, pickles & Swiss cheese). Both of these employees were so helpful and friendly. He loved this sandwich, it definitely satisfied his pastrami craving. My cheeseburger was delicious but the onion rings were "over the top" awesome. So was our carrot cake that we had for dessert.

Good food, fair prices, friendly staff. They let us order even though we came shortly before closing.

Great diner. I had a BLT and the soup de jour.f mountain Diet coke was excellent just like at the Golden arches. It's not always mixed properly. Would recommend to anyone. Fair prices. Good food

We ate here some hamburgers and the experience was truly good. The kitchen is fast, de service is nice. Good job!

Stopped by to have breakfast. What a wonderful little place. The people were very nice. The service was terrific. The food was magnificent. The selection was incredible. If you are in San Pedro, give this wonderful place a try. You won't be dissapointed.

About a block and 1/3 from the Crowne Plaza hotel in San Pedro. Superb place for a great early morning breakfast. Extensive menu selection, large portions and great food. Small, but cozy atmosphere and friendly, fast service.

Great place for breakfast, authentic small town diner with a great menu and very friendly staff. Called in for breakfast 3 times while waiting to go on cruise. Surprised at how extensive the menu was and that made it hard to choose. Food was hot, wholesome and very tasty with a huge portion that set you up for a day of sightseeing. Hard not to recommend this diner to anyone who is in the area.

Went at 9am for breakfast and no problem seating the 6 of us. So hard to decide.....MANY choices. Everyone got ample servings and coffee kept coming. We had eggs, bacon, blueberry pancakes (3). Strawberry waffles (3), short stack pancakes (2) between us all....no complaints.

Great diner with great food at reasonable cost and even better service. From the moment we walked in we felt appreciated and valued.

Came here on Sunday morning, got seated quickly. The menu is very large and unique. There are also several specials to choose from. Service is fast paced and attentive. Could not have asked for a better breakfast experience.

Got into town late last night and needed to catch a quick bite and found Happy Diner on Trip Advisor. It lived up to its reputation with friendly staff and great food. If you like simple good food, this is your place. Can't miss with breakfast for any meal and the French toast just melted in your mouth. May have to stop by again for Breakfast before we leave town.

Awoke before my wife, so I was walking the neighborhood when I stubbed across this gem. The typical neighborhood diner, I actually saw people come in and have their food delivered without even ordering. The food is good, the portions large, and the people friendly. Try the ham and eggs.

Wife and I are taking a cruise out of LA and needed something to eat-----not a full blown meal, and not fast food-----something to tide us over till the boat left. We found this place and were really impressed. Great menu----Great service. We split the meatloaf sandwich and a diner salad---$12.49. We were impressed.

took the family for breakfast, did not break the bank, generous portions and friendly staff. obviously a business which is part of its local community. as visitors from the UK we did not feel out of place.

Ate breakfast here two days in a row! Everything fresh made and absolutely delicious. Huge menu with choices galore!

This is a great little restaurant in San Pedro. The staff is very friendly and quick. They have a great selection of food on their menu and always have specials on the board. I have been to this restaurant several times and food has always been delicious and their prices are very reasonable.

Although the restaurant its very small, there is a cozy feeling about it. I ordered the california omelette with bread and potatoes, and the portion was very big. This was a very well made omelette, and loved the potatoes. We were a party of 12,so we sat at the bottom of the restaurant, which can feel cramped and dark. Overall, I liked the breakfast and the prices and would return to try other dishes.

Nice to try local diner if in area. They have so much on the menu it was hard to decide. We got two chef specials and just split to try. We had Chilaquiles and Carnitas Rancheros! Yum! Service was great too!

We were staying at the Crown Plaza hotel in L.A. harbor and our bell hop recommended we try this little place around the corner for breakfast. Well that turned out fantastic to the point that we even went back for dinner that night and breakfast again the next day before we boarded onto are cruise ship to go through the Panama canal. Just a little hole in the wall kinda of place with great food and service and hospitality. I highly recommend that you search this place out if your in the area you won't be disappointed. Large portions and beyond reasonable prices. Everyone we dealt with staff wise were awesome and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you Happy Diner employees Dalila, Edwin, Carla we look forward to seeing you again.

Happy Diner was recommended to us by the staff at the Crowne Plaza. A short walk for a hearty, reasonably priced breakfast. Lots of locals so you know it has to be good. Wide selection available. All four of us were happy with our meals which were all different. The omelette was very good, couldn't eat it all. Fast service.

Poor quality of food and size of 4 egg white omelete as much as not even 1. it’s supposed to be healthy option not fried dipped into oil with turkey burned sausages for $20. Price higher manhattan high end omelettes and 10 times the size of their failed egg white omelette. I returned and said it might be a mistake. Waiter and manager said they put 4 egg whites while she saw that the food they gave me was looking like they were joking me. No money refund, I just left the food there.. $20 plus 20% tips, thanks for nothing.

Staying close by waiting for a cruise trip, a local told us about this diner at the corner bus stop. What a find......best chilly I have had in years!!! We did the burger and fry thing and they were fantastic. Menu has everything you could want, at very reasonable prices and the service is excellent. Must stop if you in the area and you like food!

We ate breakfast here for four days in a row and we're wishing we didn't have to leave because it's hard to find a restaurant these days that is clean, has fantastic service, great prices plus food you can't get enough of!! I was raised in a successful restaurant and my standards are very high, this is one of the few places I've been to that I'd give it a 10+

Checked into our hotel and went searching for lunch. Came across this place. Seemed to be pretty busy which told us it was a place to try. Waitress was friendly and didn't leave us waiting long. Food came out fast. Hubby's sandwich was good but fries were cold. I had the BBQ Chicken Fries. These were delicious and alot! I wasn't able to finish it all. Definitely give them a try if you are looking for honest food.

Stayed at a hotel near by and searched for good breakfast places. This resturaunt had good reviews so why not try it. We went in amd were greeted immediately. We were seated and waited on very quickly. We ordered breakfast and it came out fairly quick. Our food was absolutely amazing. The price was great also. If you are looking for a spot to eat this is a must. Delila was our server and was absolutely amazing. Great attitude with great customer service.

Very nice hometown diner. We found it by accident and what a pleasant surprise. The menu is large, the prices are low and the service was excellent. I spoke with the owner and told him he can be proud of a very nice restaurant and staff. We had dinner then breakfast the next morning before cruising to Hawaii. This is a very simple, excellent blue collar dining, all American type place that we just love to patronize.

We were staying across the street and the front desk recommended this place for breakfast. Great choice. Family operated. Fair prices, good food. It is very old. Few tables, close together which adds to the atmosphere.

Our family had a very nice lunch at the Happy Diner in San Pedro. The Happy Diner is what you'd call a local favorite and hangout. It looks like it's been there forever and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The décor is out of the Happy Days sitcom. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all opted for the BLT while I went with the Pastrami Burger. Prices are very reasonable. The food was very good and we all enjoyed our luncheon experience.

Great food, pleasant staff. You can have breakfast all day. Love the cook - eggs always perfect. Thanks for the great service.

A good selection of all American fare, and fair prices make this a dependable spot to go for solid diner food. The menu is extensive and all of the dishes are crafted traditionally. The diner seats more people than you would imagine, and there's a back room that is good for groups. This is a go to spot for comfort food in downtown San Pedro

Within walking distance of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Palos Verdes St. They have many great breakfast options. Try the Pancakes plain or covered. They were excellent!

Super impressed! Coffee was really good, the side of fresh fruit was FRESH and the huevo rancheros (excuse my spelling) was very tasty. Great service and excellent value.

Great food in a friendly neighborhood diner. It’s not fancy but clean inexpensive and friendly. Great variety and abundant food.

Most of the time I go for breakfast. Always enjoy what I order. Love love their OJ it is fresh squeezed always taste good. Only available at the one on Gaffey Street. Service is good no problems Friendly but busy.

I am a regular customer of the Happy Diner. Family owned and operated, the menu is eclectic, reasonably priced, always tasty, and always served with a smile. You can get breakfast all day if you want, or take advantage of a varied menu ranging from straight up American diner fare to Mexican specialties. Substitutions are no problem. True, the decor is unprepossessing, but what do you really go to a restaurant for? Great food, great service, and friendly people all served up at a price that makes sense. You can't do better in San Pedro than the Happy Diner.

I found this little place. They have a Groupon $12 gets you $20 worth of food.this is a classic diner. Totally non-corporate. They have specials each day. I asked the waitress. Do you guys make Orange almond French toast? I had it at the four seasons Hotel recently. I was absolutely stunned when the cook/chef. Came to our table and asked me if he could try to prepare it for me. We ended up talkingfor a couple of minutes. And he went on Google. Got a recipe and made me Orange almond French toast. I was super impressed it was delicious.I also went there for lunch and had a really good strawberry walnut salad, this place is not fancy. The dining area is small. I highly recommend sitting at the counter. And chatting with the cooks. If they're not too busy :-) I was very pleased to find out that they just opened a second location near the Home Depot. Oh and one more thing their breakfast sausage is absolutely the best 😍 also the prices are very reasonable thanks for making me happy. I guess that's why they call it happy diner :-)

We found this small, hometown cafe when we were looking for a place to eat breakfast before our cruise left San Pedro for Hawaii. It is a short walk around the corner from the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the port. The owner and her cook handled the whole place with skill and good humor. The food and service was very good! Clientele was mostly local...usually a good sign. The menu offered a large selection of breakfasts including some Mexican specialities. We didn't see the lunch menu, but if breakfast was any indication, lunch would be great, too! Food was fresh and arrived hot at the table. I would make it a point to eat there again if we are in the San Pedro port in the future.

If you are getting ready for a cruise or just got off and want a spectacular breakfast there is only one place to go. HAPPY DINER!!!!! Big menu, great food and amazing service Don't miss this place

Ate THREE times here in a 24-hour period...that's how much I liked it. AMAZING banana-nut pancakes, huge omelets of all kinds, ridiculously good carne asade french fries...I'll write more about the food as soon as I eat my way through the menu:)

Immediately on opening door we felt welcome and comfortable. Staff was friendly whether you spoke English or Spanish. Breakfast was better and cheaper than our hotel. I dropped credit card and didn’t realize it til we were back in our hotel. They tracked me down, held it for me. It was a highlight of our 2 days in a pleasant neighborhood. We returned for lunch and another breakfast.

This small retro diner in San Pedro was a pleasant surprise, Simple good food and friendly service made it special.

On the first day we arrived in this town, Hubby and I came to this Diner because it's near the hotel we're planning on staying and also we just couldn't look for another place to eat because we were hungry. I couldn't order anything else other than a veggie burger but after checking with the waitress, she recommended a turkey burger instead, so I went with her recommendation. Her name's Maira and she's such a lovely lady, we were treated nicely at this Diner. I would recommend the place for breakfast than for lunch. We did come back a couple of times for breakfast. Once we came here for breakfast and I left my purse at the Diner and after almost near the hotel and realized what I did, I ran back and Maira welcomed me back by saying "I got your purse here" and that was near her by the counter instead of at the table that I left. I was so thankful for this. She's super observant and she saved my purse and my life! Another good thing about this Diner is that it opens early, 6 AM. For us who are up early, this is the place to be. We also met Maira's sister, Selena, who works here when Maira takes off. We also met Roman, he could be the manager or owner of the place. He's very nice, just like his crew. We noticed the regulars who walked in that know the staff and called them by their name. It's a small place with great service. I tried a few dishes from their breakfast menu. They were pretty good. However, the service was definitely five stars!

We had dinner and breakfast at the Happy Diner when we stayed at the nearby Crowne Plaza just before leaving on a cruise. The food was tasty and plentiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the prices were reasonable. Can't ask for much more than that!

THIS PLACE IS PERFECT. Fast service, amazing food and the coziest restaurant. The menu is huge. They have all breakfast items with lunch and dinner options. It's hard to make a decision! The parking lot is a bit small and the location is odd but there's parking on the street too. This is a perfect spot to go for breakfast or brunch! The workers are the best too, friendly atmosphere for sure. hehe

This is what I would consider a "hole in the wall restaurant" in that it is small with adequate tables along one side and the counter separating the guests from the cooking area. The restaurant was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The service was fast and the food quality for breakfast was very good. It is a great breakfast place.

Great service Great food The best restaurant i have been to in years Always thinking of you Loved by locals Very great atmosphere

Fabulous place. Ask for " Superman" Omelette. Pastrami Onions and Swiss Cheese. Off menu item. Burgers are great.Delilah is a great waitress.

We just landed after a 12 hour flight and wanted a place to have a filling dinner and go to sleep. Easy to find place, welcoming atmosphere. The waiter was really friendly, asked his recommendation, and wasnt disappointed. The portion was huge and decent pricing. Awesome place

I visit Los Angeles quite a bit and was recommended to try the Happy Diner. I was pleasantly impressed as my breakfast was amazing and the friendly staff was awesom

Small place, clean, GREAT service. Being from the culinary desert of Ocean County, NJ, loved the Mexican influence on the menu. Don't miss it!

We stayed at the Crown Plaza before our cruise and went to the Happy Diner each morning and one evening for dinner. Very good food and cheap. Very close to Crown Plaza, five minute walk.

Food and. Service were amazing. Awesome fruit waffle, and a machaca omelette was so good! We were more than pleasantly surprised!

No fuss, GREAT prices for amazing portions. Homestyle food lots of selection. Fast friendly service!

We stayed at the nearby Crowne Plaza hotel (which is just a walk around the corner) and ate breakfast here. Hubby had a traditional breakfast of eggs, spicy sausage and pancakes while I tried the banana nut pancakes with bacon. Everything was hot and fresh with ample portions. Our server was friendly and kept our coffee cups filled. It’s a very small storefront, easy to overlook, but is a hidden gem.

When we come to Los Angeles San Pedro we always go to the Happy Diner for the good food and amazing Ice Coffee the food is to die for it a little pricey but it worth it they treat you like family when you go try the Corn beef Hash it to die for

Stopped here before our visit to the USS Iowa at the suggestion of the security guard there and were very glad we did. Perfect eggs, tasty kielbasa, great fruit cup and never ending coffee complemented by friendly and attentive service made for a great start for the day. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Great little place around the corner from Crowne Plaza in San Pedro. Wonderful food and service. Truly a neighborhood diner.

Great place for breakfast, staff friendly, quick service and great food. Coffee is endless. Worth a visit and recommend to anyone having breakfast before going on a cruise. Will come back if we are in the area.

Myra was a fantastic server and helped me come up with a delicious vegan veggie wrap. Great service!

Was looking for a restaurant close to battleship Iowa found this on maps decided what the heck. We were super surprised at dot and friendliness. Would definitely eat there again

Went here for breakfast on several days after it was recommended by our hotel! Food and service excellent, staff super friendly. Large manu to choose from.
Good Food, Large Menu
My first impression when we walked in was to walk back out, but this was the only breakfast place within walking distance of our hotel. This is your typical greasy spoon diner. There was a drunk passed out on one of the tables and the place looks run down. The food was the redeeming factor. They have a very extensive breakfast menu so there is no trouble finding something to make everyone happy. We both had omelets and they were large and very tasty. The service was very friendly, but a bit on the slow side. Prices were reasonable. I would probably go back.
