the sever was rude, charged us the wrong cards, long nails dark hair, only aloud to charge 2 checks and they didn’t tell us anything until after our food was given to us.

My brother and I had burgers and fries and they were cooked as ordered with no mistakes. We sat at the bar and the bartender provided great service. Would come back to eat here again for sure!

Can I just start by saying what a brilliant experience. I booked a table here before we flew out, was easy. When we arrived we were a little early so went to the bar and had a few drinks, bar staff were back as soon as you finished your drinks. When our table was ready they text us and we were greeted by a lovely surver named jahan, he was so friendly and chatty. Once we were seated and ordered our food the manager Shane came over and spoke to us and wished us a happy anniversary which was really nice, between jahan and Shane they made us have a brilliant experience and we couldn't have asked for more. Well done hard Rock san fransisco, we felt like vip's 😊

We were greeted by a lovely smiling woman, who showed us to our seats and pointed out the way to the bathroom. Our waiter was so informative and professional. We both enjoyed our burger meals, just the right portions.

We enjoyed our lunch there. Was the typical Hard Rock foodselection. The service was fast and friendly. The food was good as usual.

I know you are partly paying for atmosphere and decor so perhaps I'm being unfair. The wings (for me) and cheeseburger and fries (for the husband) were good. The service was friendly. Go for the fun but expect to pay for it!

Went here a couple of times while in San Francisco. Once for food another time sitting outside just for drinks. Great location at pier 39. Staff were friendly and service was good. Food was also good as you would expect at a Hard Rock Cafe.

Right up front, we were told there was a mandatory 20% gratuity. Then when we got our bill, I could not make sense of it no matter how we added up the numbers. Mind you, it was only a dollar or two over, but still. I asked for my sliders well done and they were still pink. Chicken tenders were excellent. Service was understaffed but did well (maybe not a 20% tip well). Location is right in the main tourist pier, #39. Even the rock memorabilia was pretty bland.

Good meal, but extremely loud music. We couldn't hear each other and couldn't hear what the waitress was saying.

Visited during a holiday. Attempted to book a table in the afternoon to be greeted very bluntly to use an app called OpenTable. Despite that rudeness we did as we were told and booked an evening table. Upon arrival the same front of house person took us to our table without any sort of greeting. The server took our drinks order but failed to bring all drinks. She then started to take our menu choices but walked off after taking note of starters. She didn't return but decided to look after an adjoining table. After complaining she reluctantly took our main choices. It took further complaint to eventually get our full drinks order. The starters arrived without cutlery leaving it to go cold before we got something to eat with. No checks on if we wanted anymore drinks or if food was ok. We eventually complained to the manager and got access to an additional server but she also failed to attend to our requirements. The main course when it arrived was acceptable but the service remained poor. The manager eventually gave us our food for free but this establishment really does need to up its service to get up to any sort of standard.

Good ribs. Service was a little slow, but better than other restaurants in the vicinity, Enjoyed Rodrigo and his excellent customer service. Would go back again if in a pinch, but that whole Pier 39 area was swamped.

The food was good (I had a steak salad, which I cannot criticise). I also thoroughly enjoyed viewing all the rock memorabilia and artefacts on the walls (including one of Pete Townshend's guitars). However, the menu told me I was spending $20.99 on the salad (already expensive given it is San Francisco and I had a terrible exchange rate from my English pounds). When I received the bill, they had the cheek to add 4% service charge and 4% SF employee charge. This was totalled, then a further set of charges were added to this total: - Tip Gratuity 10%, gratuity 16%, food tax 9.3%, liquor tax 4%. Why were they not honest with me and incorporate all these charges on the menu. This business model may be successful in ripping off passing tourists, but customers will not want to be ripped off twice - I hope this will warn other unsuspecting tourists.

Somewhat typical of the chain of restaurants, good service with a fast food type menu. Loud music, but an interesting venue with the music industry memorabilia. Decoration over the central bar area very effective with the coloured lighting over the guitars. Nice dib8ng experience given the nature of the menu.

Great food and really good atmosphere, I had the nachos when I went there, very nice and massive. Would eat here again.

All round it was a decent effort from this branch of the Hard Rock without being spectacular. The food was pretty standard from the other branches I have visited around the world, decent quality, mass produced food. Our particular waiter was very good and attentive. The decor consisted of several guitars from old rockers I’d never heard of and the music on the speakers was pretty good.

After a fantastic day out we hoped to enjoy a nice meal. Unfortunately this hard rock cafe was very poor compared to previous ones visited. We were sat next to an open door an this were freezing. The waiter brought no cutlery or napkins until we asked halfway through our first course. Food was greasy and disappointing. Atmosphere was poor, hard rock usually has cool stuff on the walls, this one had a few random drums and that was all. Three couples left due to poor service, we nearly did ourselves, poor service and poor food.

My wife and I attended Hard Rock at Pier 39 while we were on vacation. We walked up to the front counter waiting to be seated. There were three males standing behind the counter with there heads down. We waited patiently for several minutes assuming they may be busy. As the minutes went on one of the waiters lifted his head and just started at us. I said hello at which time he walked away. Me and my wife were confused at this point, however took it as the waiter didn’t hear us. One of the other waiters behind the counter then looked up stared at us for a few seconds and asked what we wanted. I asked if there were any tables available for me and my wife. The waiter rolled his eyes looked down for another minute then eventually said we’ll come on then and walked ahead of us. We ended up telling him not to bother. We left the restaurant and went to Hana Zen (Japanese food) at the end of the pier where we had a view of the bay and friendly staff. Hard Rock Cafe had rude staff and we would not recommend.

Had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table in the middle of a weekday afternoon when there were plenty of free, clean tables ready. So that wasn’t the best start and could have resulted in lost custom. As the vegetarian options for main courses at Hard Rock are poor, my husband and I opted just for mocktails and desserts. Everything we ordered was very good. Pudding portions were big - we would definitely recommend the hot fudge brownie and the apple cobbler! Service was attentive and friendly. I felt the 20% tip was too much as customers should be able to choose the percentage of tip to give. We had a brief look around the shop (expectedly pricey) and some of the memorabilia. Worth a visit when in San Francisco.

Average food but such a great service. We were there twice and they were so helpful. Thank you guys. The food takes 10 min and cones out all together.

We went in for drinks at Happy Hour, knowing it would be busy, but to sit at the bar for 20 minutes without even being acknowledged was ridiculous. The lady beside us got served & we thought we would be next, but another couple & a man who just walked up to the bar were served next. All we wanted was 2 beers but the bartenders were making all those fancy drinks that take forever. I know for sure it was 20 minutes because I looked at my watch when we sat down. One of the servers kept throwing glasses and glass bottle into a garbage can from a distance, so you could tell he was pissed off. At one point I even started waving both my arms but no one noticed. We walked out after wasting enough time there. Suggestion: maybe during "happy" hour there should be more staff working the bar.

5 of us ate here on recent visit to San Francisco. Great service from the outset from our waitress (Sorry but I forgot your name). She introduced herself and then gave us a quick history lesson on the history of the Hardrock cafe which was good. Our waitress was very polite and eager to ensure our visit was good and I must reiterate that the service we received from her was excellent. The Meal was good but expensive considering it was just burgers.

As an ardent fan of the ‘Hard Rock Cafe’ brand and as a personal goal I look forward to visiting as many as I can, this was somewhat disappointing. The restaurant was decorated in the usual decor and looked promising, the server was very much attentive but the rack of ribs that were delivered were definitely not slow cooked. Instead of the meat falling off the bone, one had to have a good set of dentures to remove the meat. This was so disappointing that we had to complain and have them removed from the bill. It will not put me off visiting Hard Rock but this restaurant could be so much better!

This is the worst service I’ve ever had on my trip. Server disappeared constantly and left us without utensils, napkins and drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive. Food was hit and miss in the group and the whole place did not feel like a hard rock at all, it was so plain. Saw lots of complaints whilst here and a lot of other guests walk out due to the bad service. Not the quality usually delivered from this chain.

We had a burger, chicken sandwich and 2 alcoholic beverages and the bill came to $82!! Tip was automatically included at 20%, then we had to pay towards employee's health insurance as well as 15.5% tax on the beverages. Not worth it!! Go to Boudin Bakery Cafe around the corner instead and save yourself some money!

Good: Good Ambience and Food. Taste is consistent as we visit this place multiple times when visiting Fishermen’s Wharf. Negatives: Recently we see the staff missed the Hospitality part. As I mentioned, We were here multiple times and we saw the decay of Hospitality part when it comes to serving the guests. We had to wait more than 40 minutes and didn’t got any service. Another two tables we’re experiencing same on the same moment. Since my daughter was too hungry I ended up walking to a team member to ask for help. After 5-10 min. I was asked whether I need service. I’m happy that Keith was trying his level best to get a service staff member and Rhubenn attended to serve us in a faster manner. While we were dining we were asked to whether we need to clear the table. It seems some training of quality hospitality is required for the Manager and serving staff. Hope the management will try to improve the service. As residents of San Francisco we prefer to support locally serving businesses and this is far away from quality service. I would give 3 stars due to the incident we faced. I would commend on the service efforts from Keith and Rhubenn.

the food was DELICIOUS, definitely one of the best burgers ive ever had. i got the og legendary burger and strawberry basil lemonade. staff were incredibly nice, the waiter forgot my drink at first which isnt a big deal since they were very busy, but the waiter took the drink off the bill even though he really didnt need to 🥹 if i could give this place 6 stars i would!

We visited the Hard Rock Cafe to purchase a shot glass and decided to stay for a drink and snack. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were directed to the bar. While one staff member behind the bar was friendly, the other came across as quite rude. We ordered nachos to share, but when they arrived, we weren’t offered any napkins and had to ask for them ourselves. Additionally, no one checked in to see if everything was okay. When it came time to pay, there was minimal eye contact or interaction. The check was simply placed on the counter without a word. It feels like Hard Rock Cafe is now relying more on their brand name than on delivering good service. Disappointing experience.

A VERY disappointing effort of the HARD ROCK brand. A 20% charge is added to the final bill. You are advised of this on entering the restaurant, so if you don't accept it...DONT ENTER. OK, I accepted this. However, this is the tip, its added automatically before you dine. Now, I understand that all tips are discretionary, and reflect my appreciation of the quality of the service given. So, if a 20% tip is automatic in this place, then it doesn't matter how good or bad the service is, they get a chunk of your money anyway. The service itself was, in my opinion, below average. Had I not accepted the additional charges on entering the restaurant then I would NOT have tipped the service for my visit. We had to ask for staff to take our order, we waited over 30 minutes for our food, and items were missing. More staff are needed to run this operation to the required standard. Moreover, the restaurant was FREEZING. Many customers were wearing warm clothing and hats, one guy even had gloves on! The ROCK MEMORABILIA was very poor compared to many other Hard Rock Cafe branches. VERY POOR. Now for the check.......additions, additions, additions, (including LIQUOR TAX for Non Alcoholic drinks!!!!!! Are you serious?). $65 of food and beverage ordered was billed at over $95 after all the additions. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING. We felt ripped off by the below average service, the crazy number of additional charges to our bill, being charged Liquor Tax for non-alcoholic drinks, and sitting in a VERY cold restaurant to eat. Management need to take note of my comments and provide a level of service which reflects the crazy price. I will be writing directly to HRC Head office with my comments.

Tons of respect for the brand Hard Rock has created. They've managed to stay relevant for two decades longer than seemed likely when I first became aware of them. That they print a gluten free menu takes them a step farther than most places, even most national chains. The videos played were a mix of old & new, an improvement of the old & very old last time I visited one. Still, the food's fair to middlin'. The service is fair to good. And it's pretty expensive for what you get.

I have been to a number of hard rock cafes and this was OK in the overall scheme of things. The food was adequate, although the buns are far too big. The burger was cooked how I asked for it and it gave us some shelter from the cold wind.

Derek bartender is so ignorant, and he doesn't see any customers except his coworkers, he is focust only on talking to coworkers. Service from him is 1 star. However the Raimond was there and helped a lot. Thanks to him he is great.

When you're out, shopping, visiting, sightsteening it's pretty normal that you get hungry and... sometimes you look for the 'particular' taste but most of the times you'r up for the meal you well know, and that's bring us to HRC Pier 39 ... but not entirely. You may believe it not but the Junbo Combo here taste better, i know it shouldn't but it is. The dessers are ... larger, i thoght those things are standardized in the network, well ... they're not. The table service is the best i've ever encountered in the HRC (maybe with exception of Berlin), the waiters - friendly, the cithen - fast, the smiles - large ... it was sad to leave!

We had just returned from a Trip to Alcatraz Island and decided to pop in here for some Drinks Only. We sat at the Bar and Waited, And Waited, And Waited for an eternity to get served drinks. There was just one person working behind the bar and when she did eventually serve us she looked peeved that we only wanted drinks? There were many more staff but they all seemed to be concentrating on the food service either taking meals to tables or collecting plates and glasses. The place is a typical Hard Rock with loads of memorabilia and is well decorated throughout. You are asked at the door if you want food and if not you are directed to the bar. Such a shame that the bar service lets the place down. Or maybe it is Hard Rock policy to make non diners wait?

A must visit in Pier 39. A quality service, great drinks! Just what you would expect from Hard Rock. Great price for what you are buying.

The single worst hard rock we have ever been to. The restaurant was freezing and the food wasn’t much warmer. People were literally putting their coats back on. The service also left a lot to be desired. Our server cleared my partners plate and starting pushing desert on us when I was still attempting to munch through my heap of cold fries. My partner asked him to come back and he did again before I had finished and started going on and on about the most expensive desert on the menu. In the end he irritated us so much we just left and got desert elsewhere. I would not recommend

This was our first time to Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco, Well located down on pier 39. Upon arrival we were welcomed by very friendly staff & shown to our table. The waiter (Ashley) then arrived & took our orders, She was so helpful and polite, Engaged in a lot of conversation with us which was nice compared to other Hard Rocks we’ve been at. Service was A* !! The burgers were so juicy, flavours were just oozing out. Portion sizes were big, Very impressed. Would definitely return, Thank you.

After 12 Hard Rock Cafes visited around the world we found the absolute worst. Poor service. Dirty place with strong light. Even at 9pm they played music while they ate. Scratched white plates. Sandwich without sauces on the plate as happens everywhere. French fries with fried residue. To pay they made me enter the kitchen where we had the posse. Kitchen with oily floor and door always open for poor customers to see A delusion …. Strong disappointment

We are used to HRC but here I was very disappointed. Already the reception is very blah and we have the impression of being a nuisance. We ate there for $100 and bought $300 worth of souvenirs and we were charged 25 cents for the bag to put on the clothes. I find it very petty after spending $400 in 1h30. The $16 cocktail is made up of 70% ice cubes. It's not the price but the principle that disappoints me. A different and disappointing HRC compared to the dozens of others I have experienced during our travels.

If you ever get to see Pier 39 in San Francisco, visiting the Hard Rock Cafe located at the beginning of the pier is a must. Great quality food, friendly unique staff, fun collectibles and interesting memorabilia - you gotta see it yourself.

Probably the worst hard rock experience we've had. Food was good but even before I had finished my main our server was getting me to order dessert. Waited over 15 minutes but no sign of waiter or the dessert until I noticed him serving tables for a large group by which time a lady (possibly deputy manager) turned up with our bill - including the dessert. When we explained we hadn't actually had the dessert she disappeared before coming back with the dessert and a revised check which was much appreciated. Not sure what the big group was for but we both felt we were in the way as the staff were constantly moving tables around and my overall impression was that our server had been told by the manager to help deal with the large group. Shame they didn't have the same level of service for others customers. Last week we ate in Hard Rock Vegas, an altogether better experience and more like others we have used in other cities such as London, Orlando, Paris and Barcelona

Worst experience, ever. The food was sub-par, the service was terrible (left us with no napkins, our drinks empty several times, and after asking for a refill TWICE he left it empty anyway). I thought to myself, no big deal I just won’t leave a huge tip, like I usually do. The check gets to our table and there is a 4% “service charge” that I did not authorize, a 16% gratuity addition that I didn’t authorize, another charge for “Tip/Grat/GiftCrd” and other taxes. Unacceptable and in my opinion, theft. I left this place feeling like I just had my bike stolen from a friend. To say this place is awful on every level is an understatement. They should be shut down and I’m going to let anyone know that will listen. Oh, I called to chat with a manager and was transferred to a voicemail with a robot voice to boot. The fun just doesn’t stop.

Whilst the food is great , beware they charge you a 20% service charge on all transactions. Our bill came to $66 but with all the additions it cost us $90.

This was our first time in SF and decided to hit this HRC. It was pretty empty but I think it just opened, we went on 30 January around noon. The food was really good and the cocktail was UH-MAZING!! But really, the best part was our server. He was super attentive and took good care of us. Thank you for a great lunch! The only downside was the cost was pretty high. We spent almost $100 for 2 entrees, 1 soda, and 1 cocktail.

Worst HRC we’ve ever visited. I’ve been to HRC’s all over the globe - New York, Boston, Seattle, & now San Francisco in the US inc. This was just poor in so many ways, & so disappointing for HRC fans like us 1/ It closes really early. 9pm on a Saturday night… REALLY? 2/ Staff in the restaurant not very attentive, but lots stood around chatting, but still feel the need to add a service charge, rather than let you decide ti tip & how much to tip 3/ I had the fajitas - the food was cold & certainly not the hot sizzling food fest fajitas I’ve had elsewhere - a cold lump of stodgy mess, & poorly presented 3/ Bought a t-shirt for my collection. Guy with the long pink beard was fine when purchasing - but became quite rude/abrupt when I went back to query being overcharged by $10.00, Also, such a poor choice of sizes… very little in medium/large sized… but lots of small & XXL(& above) sizes. Went in a couple of times during our stay to see, & they were ‘waiting for a delivery later today…’ . I only wanted a basic/iconic white HRC San Francisco t-shirt in M/L but during a 6 day stay, they never had any. I honestly can not imagine that happening at any other HRC I’ve visited. Beyond poor. We had far better food & service at the Wipeout Bar/Diner, steps away on Pier 39. This was just an embarrassment to the HRC brand

We visited at a busy time, but the service was very slow. Waiter not very attentive. The food was ok. At our table we had the Barbeque pork sandwich-which was tasty, Caesar salad, Salmon with very dry potatoes and Ribs. Don't go just for the hype, not worth it.

We have visited loads of Hard Rock Cafe’s in Europe and always had much better service than at this one. Three of us had fajitas and two of the packets of wraps were cold and the other was cold and stale. Once that was sorted the food was fine but when we where half way through it the waitress asked us if we were going to have dessert. I don’t really want to decide on that until I’ve finished eating my main course. It wasn’t even as though they were full - there was no queue and there were empty tables. We decided to skip the dessert and get an ice cream at the Ben and Jerry’s stand down the road. To top it all when the bill came the fact that it didn’t include a tip and the suggested tips was highlighted with stars in red pen. We come to Hard Rock for a fun evening out and this wasn’t one. Definitely not recommended.

Don't go to this restaurant bad service and the reason they charge you a service charge before you pay your bill is because the service is terrible our waiter joseph was so rude to us did not give a S**t

we spent 4 wks in usa and this is the only poor review we have written !..we really wanted to eat here..there were lots of free tables (which could be seen from the desk we were waiting at to be seated) we waited almost 10 minutes before a member of staff even spoke to us..this member of staff had come to the front desk looking for something..didn't acknowledge us..and as he walked away we told him we were waiting and asked if he could ask a member of staff to seat us ..after another 5 minutes of waiting we left..went to wipe out bar and grill instead and got great service and great meal there ! very disappointed with hard rock cafe !

Arrives in San Fransisco after an 18 hour trip from Europe. The restaurants close around 20 in the area, but no problem getting a board at HR. Classic cheeseburgers and fine beer to go with it. Super good fritters. Loud music and many fine rock decorations. A bit expensive by European standards, and annoying with their up front 18-20% gratuity. But fine food exactly as you know you will get.

Only had the smallest of waits where i was just relaxing. But as the crew wants to offer the best service, they threw in my drink and food! Complementary! Great service and great food as always in my 25th HRC visit

Service very poor, starter came out and straight after we had the mains come out, never asked us if we would like more drinks just felt rushed. Gave 2 stars due to food been quite good

Loved this place! When I visit again I will 100% be going again!! I loved everything they did there I loved my whole experience!

What can I say... the portions are huge, the service was fantastic, the food pretty good and the price tag mega expensive! If you enjoy the sentimentality and fun of a HRC you will enjoy this one! As I vegetarian I would highly recommend the impossible burger. If you are simply looking for a good meal and decent price tag however, I would say hard rock cafes aren’t for you!!

Super friendly staff, great atmosphere, exactly what you would expect from a Hard Rock Cafe! Food was served quickly and delicious. We went for the Classic Burger and Boneless buffalo chicken. Definitely worth a visit, the only surprisingly thing was bill was a bit higher than expected. It isn’t a cheap visit!

The food was the standard HRC menu, no local burger which a lot of HRC's have, but ensure you have your defibulator handy because when the check comes, already on your bill will be the standard taxes, but beware, on top of that will be a further 20% added which will be broken down to 16% gratuity for your server regardless if they were on their A game or not and 4% taken from your bill to allow HRC to train their staff..unbelievable.!! I have no issue with tipping but it should be up to me how much I believe the server is due, however when I go out for a meal, I don't all of sudden decide to contribute to education, c'mon HRC sort your self out and get back to your roots..

Not good value for money, we spent almost 82$ for 2 burger e 2 beer. We almost payed 25% in tip (mandatory).if you wanna eat there pay attention

we stepped by this place before getting on one of our tours, we were a little bit on a hurry but waiting wouldn’t hurt, the thing is that we waited for almost quarter of an hour to be attended and no one showed up. On the other hand when we where waiting to be “seated”, other customer left angry complaining for the same problem... we ended up leaving as well. It’s sad that such a famous name has such an awful service.

Poor , dear , you mainly pay for the location of the restaurant & its decoration .. one of the worst restaurants in the port! It's better nearby

We walked on Pier 39 and ended up at Hard Rock Cafe, very nice store and friendly people. The restaurant was busy too. We found nice T-shirts of San Francisco and also of Freddie Mercury. Very busy place, maybe because it was Sunday too.

We got there and seen the messi burger and decided to give it a try. It was ok kfc is tastier 😂 flat beer not very good either n the wine was overpriced. Our server was friendly. We actually prefer the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando at universal as it has a better menu and better vibe. It’s over priced so definetly visit elsewhere if your looking for better food

A group of us visited the Hard Rock at San Fransisco in early December. After favorable experiences in Singapore, Orlando, Chicago, and several others, we were shocked at just how bad it was. Firstly, we were told there was a staff shortage, the service was really poor. We complained it was freezing in there (they had a private party outside and insisted on keeping the doors wide open). The food was mediocre at best and it was a real waste of time and money. In my opinion, staff need training, they were miserable and impolite. If this had been my first experience with Hard Rock, I would never have returned.

After travelling around the world visiting numerous Hard Rock Cafes, we expected good vibes, friendly staff and good food, little did we know the horrific shock we would be in with this one. Unwilling staff to seat us despite a booking. A particular member of staff walking straight past our table 3 times and purposely looking the after way to avoid serving us despite us asking. 25 mins went past before we had to get up and find someone to serve us, to then be told ‘I am not a waiter I am just a server’ and walking away. After finally getting served our cocktails, starters and main courses arrived within 3 mins of each other and literally ‘slammed’ onto our table with pure rudeness. When asked about why our starters and mains were forced on us in one go despite not being able to fit it all on the table, 3 members of staff replied ‘our kitchen isn’t busy so they are just sending everything out as quickly as they can’ - how that makes sense for good customer service I don’t know? Food was average; sharer platter was stingy, ribs were horrendous fatty and stuck to the bone and fajitas were cold. After this awful experience, all we wanted to do was leave. We had to explain the situation to 2 managers due to a huge lack of staff communication and wait 25 mins before we could pay the bill. To top it off, my boyfriend was horrendously sick after eating the ribs the night following our evening visit. I can say that this Hard Rock Cafe has overrided my whole experience of Hard Rock Cafe and am unsure whether I will be visiting any again.

We were cold and starving after an Alcatraz visit and the Hard Rock is one of the first restaurants once you walk down from pier 33. We had a beer with keepsake pint glass, cocktail, two meals and a side and with tip the bill was $90 so quite expensive however.... The drinks were fab but the food was absolutely lovely, no problems with cold food, what should have been hot was...the server was good and we had no problems at all. Would definitely return.

We felt un-welcome, based on the reception we received from the male employee who greeted us upon entrance, as a result of our treatment we did not stay for dinner.

Started of promising! Untill order came and it was the wrong burger my husband had ordered when pointed out the waiter was very apologetic saying it was his mistake and as he'd made a mistake could he get us something else as a gesture of goodwill maybe re do the burger! Get us a side order a drink!!!! My husband just said look just a beer that's fine When the bill came we were shocked to see he had charged us for the extra beer which had been apparently a good will gesture!!! because of the waiter's mistake, when pointed out the waiter acted dum!!! Saying oh sorry my mistake,,, so twice he'd messed up he told us we would have to pay for it overwise it would be taken from his wages and he was on a low wage and it would leave him broke!!!! Very unhappy customer will definitely not be visiting here again,!!

Unique disorganization! Useless waiting! Those who take care of the reception between check-ins also take care of cleaning the tables

This is your typical Hard Rock. Predictable food and drinks. The bartender was very friendly. They have many items from local San Francisco area bands.

Having previously visited many Hard Rock Cafes around the world with excellent experiences, I first checked out the reviews for the San Francisco hard rock and although the reviews are not great I thought how bad can this actually be? Answer- really not great. We had a table booked for 18.30 and when we arrived the were at least 20 people waiting to be seated also with reservations, the guy greeting us although really personable and funny just seemed embarrassed by the chaos. We were eventually seated around 7pm, and as we had already prepaid for the thanksgiving dinner the server took our drinks order and told us our dinner would be with us shortly. When the thanksgiving dinner arrived it was so disappointing, very bland and tasteless but the fact it came out barely luke warm is kind of unforgivable!! The pumpkin pie desert was ok but looked like it had been butchered with the bluntest of knives. At $50 a person I feel I’ve been mugged, in the case of hard rock San Francisco it appears not all robbers wear masks!

Food was pretty good, but the service was poor for a slow night. Waiter forgot to bring drinks we ordered. I would not go there again.

Really love this restaurant! All the staff are so sweet and so helpful & treat everyone with respect, even the “Karens”. Love the vibe, love the food, and live the workers. Keep up the great work!

it was busy when we got there but the wait was worth it. We had a great waiter and great food. We shared the rack of ribs and it was the best we have had in any Hard rock we have visited, and that's saying something as we have visited over 25 hard rocks all over the world

What a terrible experience! Do not go!! There are other lovely and friendly places at pier 39. We were with 9 people and it was difficult to bring the food at the same time. So we could not eat at the same time. Also they forgot the knives and forks! Also they did not ask if we would like dessert or coffee...

4 fois que j'y vais pour ce lieu magique du rock avec toujours des burgers originaux et bons .Dégustez the local burger très bon. Four Times i have been there in this magic place of rock music with originals burgers and so good.Taste the local burger very nice.

We have been to several HRCs over the years, and in many different countries , but this is undoubtedly where you will strike gold. A very nice response from knowledgeable and alert staff who helped us without being intrusive. Food and music top class and to our taste. The shop was outstanding with everything you could ever wish for. Don't miss the Hard Rock Cafe on Pier 39 if you ever go to San Francisco.

Visited here a couple of times during stay only once for food, found the staff very helpful and pleasant, they also did gluten-free buns for the burgers would recommend the food, or even nipping in for a drink

I love visiting a HRC when I am on holiday as you know what you are getting - good consistent food. Burgers were delicious and the mates food looked tasty too. Good service from our host too = happy customers!

We had the most amazing experience at Hard Rock Cafe! We were provided with the most excellent service, in particular Shane and Julietta were absolutely fantastic! We were greeted when we arrived by the manager who made a special effort to come to our table with a bottle of Prosecco and congratulate us! We were absolutely made up and felt they really went the extra mile to make sure we had a fantastic time! They created a brilliant, fun atmosphere and everyone in the restaurant seemed really happy! We would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have a lovely cooked meal with a lively and very friendly vibe.

This restaurant is amazing for people of all ages, I went here with my entire family and everyone enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend

Always try to visit every Hard Rock cafe whichever city or country I travel too. As usual great music memorabilia covering the walls, super nice staff. Great selection in rock shop.

This is so not my scene but Hard Rock always come up with the good. A extensive food and drinks menu means there is something for everyone. I had the bruschetta but the bread was quite dry and hard. And that’s the only downside of the whole evening. My partners pork sliders were amazing and a great portion size. The Margherita and Blackberry Sangria were soooo good. Disabled access is good. Dietaries catered for. Best of all, the staff were fabulous and nothing was too much problem.

Visited on a Sunday early evening before Labour Day, 2023. Asked for a table for three and the reservation come up more quickly than promised (5-10 mins) and we were seated near the bar. Drinks came quickly and we ordered New York Strip, Fajitas and Salmon. The New York strip was tough and the Salmon came with very al dente (just blanched) green beans. When the steak was delivered we asked if the green beans could be cooked a bit more, to which the server replied, 'you'll need to to raise this with your server'. Er, aren't you the server? This coloured the meal a bit and we chose not to have dessert. Atmosphere nowhere as good as the Hard Rock Orlando and very expensive by comparison. Eating there on a holiday weekend may have been our mistake, but next time we'll eat somewhere else.

We popped into this iconic eatery because it was near our hotel and easy to find. The place was quite busy. We ordered a ceaser salad, nachos, fries, and fries for the kids. The food was good, what you expect from a large chain. Not surprises either good or bad. This is certainly a stop for tourists for both eating and shopping.

Very good, but unfortunately, high rates like the rest of the city. Beautiful setting. Welcoming staff. Lots of people on site

I ordered an American burger because it looked really good based on the picture. What I ended up getting was almost comically bad. The picture speaks for itself. I’ll give it two stars because it still tastes okay, but so much of it was missing…

Don’t waste your money. On arrival the member of staff was so disengaged as though he didn’t want to be there. It got to the stage that we nearly turned around and left. Food is bang average. This was really disappointing as a lover of the Hard Rock we always ensure that we eat at one if visiting a city where one is located.

As many times as I have been to Pier 39 and SF, I had never visited here before. We had some time to waste and were looking for a place to grab dinner before a concert. We walked the Pier and browsed the shops and decided to stop and have dinner here. We were treated so well, the customer service by wait staff and others was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for that alone. But the music and video's while dining or drinking are also an added bonus. The food, though we only had an app plate were good, but nothing extra ordinary. But the drinks were right on spot!!!

We are at SFO a tourist trap it is true. I will not comment on the other restaurants we have eaten here but they are the same kind. If you want quality even if you pay dearly to:pass your way. Example: dinner at Hard Café, let’s pass on the Award of steak which is exorbitant ($50 mini excluding charges and free of 18% mini). Ordered a cheeseburger and grilled salmon with vegetables. For the burger meat archicuite inedible for the salmon too cooked and the hard green beans, the puree showed that they had not been bothered to peel them. In short all this for an amount of $134 excluding free 18%. The food stayed on the plates. I expressed my displeasure to the waiter who had not made much of an effort just to go 1-2 times saying: »everything is ok « The gratuity was barely 5%. I will reassure you that this is a common practice in the USA. We have over 15 days done Sfo Los Angeles San Diego Las Vegas and New York. The situation is the same everywhere. On a positive Rating the only restaurants where we ate properly and without abuse are Japanese and Asian.

Pros: - lots of seating, got a table as soon as we walked in Cons: - we never actually saw our waitress. She got stuck tending the bar. Another gentleman started our orders, said she would take over but he ended up waiting on us the whole time. The food wasn’t anything special. I think the draw is just that it’s a Hard Rock Cafe with memorabilia.

My husband I stopped in for a drink. The three girls sitting at front told us to go ahead in so we did. A few seconds later a waitress asked us why were we sitting there, so we said we were told we could come in and sit. She ran to the front pointed at us and then one of the girls comes back and tells us to move. I walk with a cane so I had chosen a low table because I can’t sit on high chairs without a lot of pain in my back. I asked why do we have to move? I got “Have a nice day”. What? I asked again what is the problem same response “Have a nice day”. I told her to not be so condesending and I said thanks for nothing. I also was treated with disrespect at the front counter after they looked up from their phones and nails. I asked for the manager, she came I told her the story plus my utter shock at not having been accommodated with something as simple as a low chair. We left and will not be back to any Hard Rock, we have been all over the world and never been treated like that at any other Hard Rock. We went two doors over and spent our money and had lovely drinks at Wipeout with great service.

Beautiful atmosphere and amazing staff especially the manager, I absolutely love the food and the Harding working staff.

We went here for some lunch on Labor day weekend. The starter was ok, we ordered the boneless BBQ chicken bites. The service was extremely slow. When the main course came it was absolutely freezing cold. Our waiter was a bit weird and seemed to lack interpersonal skills….to the point we felt awkward, I know we have an accent but c’mon. The restaurant was fairly priced however for its location. I wouldn’t go back or recommend. Sorry.

Had a meal in the Hard Rock Cafe but quite disappointed, staff not that friendly and food not that great.

Visited on a Friday afternoon, not very busy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good service and even better food in a cool atmosphere

When in San Francisco, It's probably hard for some to believe that (considering all the fine restaurants available) if you're at Fisherman's Wharf you would eat at a Hard Rock Cafe. But, that is exactly what my wife and I did during lunch on one of the days we were visiting. The purpose of eating there, was that we wanted to see the memorabilia of bands specifically associated with the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area. And, we weren't disappointed. The food was awesome. I chose to have the nacho plate off the appetizer menu, and my wife had a bacon cheeseburger. Take the time to walk around and look at the memorabilia like we did. It was a busy lunchtime, but I can report that the restrooms were pretty tidy, considering the amount of traffic through the place!

So we ate here during our visit and while the staff and the atmosphere was amazing the food was just lacking. I ordered the twisted mac and cheese and they added hot sauce to it. It was ok. The hot sauce took away from the mac and cheese which is normally my favorite. It was also super expensive. There were 2 of us and the bill came to $92

Good location right at Pier 39. Good variety of meals and plenty for your money. Has a shop attached with the usual merchandise. Servoice is a bit slow, not too bad but noticeable. Staff are nice and willing to chat. Needs a bit of live music though.

Being An Indian & especially from New Delhi we love to have balanced spicy food which we very well had at this place. Portion size was good enough for 2 people and the food quality significantly justifies it's price and the brand name where it is being served. Service and ambience of this restraurant was again amazing, even if you plan to go out for a lunch you find the place pretty happening.

The menu and food is what you would expect from a HRC, the service was very good though, really attentive waitress proactively brining refills on the soft drinks- thank you. Tip: the portions are massive!

Your typical Hard Rock Cafe and my wife had to stop here to add to her Hard Rock guitar pin collection

Fantastic meal yet again, lovely atmosphere, nice helpful staff, busy but not to busy, very enjoyable evening, drinks were superb as well.

After the Bay Cruise, we were extremely hungry. The Hard Rock Cafe always has GREAT food. David was our server and very attentive. The food and service was excellent. Be aware that the tip is added to the bill which was over $20.

Despite being vegetarian, we still manage to find a great hamburger at the Hard Rock Cafè.... Amazing but true!!!!! Always a certainty when you are in trouble x the meal, staff always very helpful and kind, lack simple and light dishes, but in the States this is 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Recommended!!!

Stopped by for a quick bite and ordered the Veggie fajitas to share with my wife. It was very good.... ate outside and enjoyed our meal. We would go back again for the same dish.

We queued to get into hard rock, lots of colleagues passed but all to interested in speaking to each other rather than see if we could be seated. Never mind, sat down just for drinks and bar tender didn’t bother to say hello for 10+ minutes. Eventually did and was rude said cocktail not available, no explanation why or any particular ingredients. Rude barman with an attitude is the reason I won’t be back

Nice atmosphere, little memorabilia, good music. Good food. The worst was the service, too slow and poorly organized.

Food... Ok, Service and experience shocking. We ordered 3 meals, 2 arrived incorrect. Advised the server when he gave us the food, and shrugged it off and didnt nothing, i was expecting the food to be remade. When o realised the second meal was wrong we sat for 10mins hours waiting for someone we managed to signal a waiter, who wasnt our waiter... We explained the problem and he just told the original waiter to come, rather than resolving the issue. After another 10mins wait correct food arrived, drinks stayed empty.... No ask for dessert.... We had to collect our bill. Wouldn't recommend

HRC always hits highs with the food. I was pleased that this local did the same with the team that took care of us, especially Kyree. Great way to finish off a trip to Alcatraz.

The title says it all. We arrived for dinner at 8pm and the place was dead. Despite this, it took an age for the waitress to come and offer us any drinks - no water was offered. The drinks were awful and tasted watery. Our starter was fine, but our table wasn't cleared for a long time after finishing. Finally a manager walked past and picked up our plate as our server was nowhere to be seen. Our main was then rushed out and we were instructed that we would have 10mins to eat it, as they were closing the restaurant at 9pm! The food was cold and had obviously been sitting out. We hardly touched our food and my husband commented that this was the only Hard Rock we have ever been to that he didn't clear his plate. When our server came back, she brought us our bill for $150, with no mention of how our meal had been. Huge waste of money and horrible service throughout, despite the restaurant having a total of 5 tables dining. Biggest regret of our trip to SF - would not recommend!

I got a chance to come here for dinner, and had a great experience. I made a reservation for 7:30 a few hours before. I got there 1/2 an hour early, and just let the front desk know that I was there early for my reservation. They immediately started working on getting a table for me. While waiting, people were walking up to ask for a table, and the wait was 1.5 hours. I got sat in 5 minutes. The food was amazing, the music was perfect, and service was great. The Pier 39 location, with its new(wish) guitar out front is just perfect.

Today was my wedding anniversary, so my husband and I decided that we would go here for a nice meal. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely hostess who was polite and very chatty. We were then shown to our table where we were told that someone would be with us shortly, no problem. 45 minutes later and nobody had even taken our order not even for drinks. Then the manager came over and asked of everything was ok as both myself and my husband were looking around to be served, so he decided that he would take our order. The drinks came swiftly and we then waiting a further 10 minutes for the food. I had ordered the fajitas and my husband ordered a burger, both came and looked amazing. 30 minutes later we had finished our food and was looking forward to ordering a dessert as they sounded amazing. Then a waitress came over not to take our plates but to give us the bill!!!! I asked what was this, and she said "you have finished"!!! So I said oh ok, I wanted to order a dessert. "Oh" she said. By that point I had turned to her and said "never mind and asked to speak to the manager". I had found the manager and explained to him what had happened and he too didnt seemed bothered as to what had happened and half heartedly told me he would give me a dessert to apologise. I wasnt at all impressed so I walked out extremely disappointed with my whole experience. So much for a lovely anniversary meal!!!

its been a couple of years since ive been here but i tell, staff in the bar..WHOA!!! they went over and beyond what was neccessary. there were 2 bartenders working that night and business hadnt quite picked up yet so they were able to talk. i placed my order and sat back to wait..and waited..and waited. the bartender that waited on me asked if i was stilling waiting cuz she noticed that the couple next to me got their appietizers first and they came in at least 20 min. after me. she went back and checked on my food. eventually it came out but the potatoes were very cold and the burger wasnt that great. my check came and i was about to pay when the other bartender came over, grabbed my check and said 'uh-uh..youre not paying' he told the manager and he comped my meal. i tried to tip him too but he just told me he would give it to my bartender anyway. i was really happy with how things turned out even if my food sucked.

Food was good but the service was shocking. Mains arrived as we were half way through the starters, no apology or acceptance that it’s poor form on their part. Every table had an advert for a new Messi Chicken sandwich. I ordered one of the Messi meals not knowing the also did a Messi burger and got one of those. I could have been clearer but waiter also assumed what I wanted. Wasn’t asked if I’d like another drink despite finishing half way through. But with a mandatory 20% service charge. 13% tip, SF tax and something else they don’t need to care.

Always make it a point to stop see Hard Rock Cafes in towns that we visit and am glad we did. The best part of all was meeting Ian, one of the Hard Rock brand ambassadors working there. He noticed me looking over the memorabilia, introduced himself, and gave me the back story of many of the great exhibits! It was great! Very knowledgeable! Thanks!!

We always try to find a Hard Rock Cafe when we travel and this restaurant was great. Clean restaurant, friendly staff and yummy food! Our waiter was so great, even made my teenagers laugh!

We needed a great spot to stop for a refreshing drink, and Hard Rock Cafe is the spot. We enjoyed our Nachos & Drinks along side admiring all of the memorabilia from famous bands. I love the atmosphere, the tributes in this rocking themed cafe. The service was great and food was awesome. Rock on!

Booked this restaurant for our anniversary meal, arrived on time and shown straight to our table and that was the last of the service. Waited and waited for our order to be taken and not even offered drinks so has to collar the manager 45 minutes later our food arrived and to be fair the food was ok. As soon as we finished eating the waitress's appeared and dropped the bill on the table, no offer of deserts that we would have had.

Nothing to report about the team or the food, everything was good. On the other hand, it's still way too noisy! And the prices reflect the fact that we are in a very touristy place, it's a bit excessive!

I am a turist in San Francisco. I went with a friend and the people on the line ahead of us got offered a table, but to us they told us they only had room in the bar. We sat in the bar even though there were plenty of free tables and people that came after us kept getting seated on tables. They didn´t explain why they sent us to the bar, but my friend was african american and nobody inside de bar was. It was the worst experience i´ve had in my life. I am never going to another HArd ROck Cafe ever.

Sometimes you have to eat and not wanting to walk the streets forever, you normally come across a HRC...... This one, like all others is pretty much the same. Same music, same t-shirts to buy and same menu. The service was OK, the food was OK and the portions were OK. You'd struggle to say magical things about HRC's anywhere in the world, as they are just quick fast and easy eating.,

Do love a Hard Rock Cafe and typically visit if we see one. This being no exception I was keen to see the items on display and enjoy some music whilst eating. Sadly there are very few items on display in this large restaurant which was disappointing. We ordered food but one item got forgotten even though he was told 3 times. The burgers were tasty but the fries were a mean portion. The server then proceeded to clear the plates of the 3 that had finished whilst the 4th person was still eating. This is rude and not good etiquette or even polite. Then without asking if we wanted more drinks or desserts the check was slapped down on our table. Clearly we were no longer wanted in this fairly empty restaurant and it was our cue to leave! I should say it wasn’t even 8pm and we had been less than an hour. Whilst I appreciate in USA it is customary to tip heavily I’m afraid I believe tips have to be earned from good service which this definitely was not. In an area of so many restaurants you really need to get your act together and train your staff accordingly. And then maybe consider acquiring more artefacts from the huge amount HRC have to adorn your boring walls.

We went here after returning from a late Alcatraz tour. Most restaurants close at 9. We got there about 8:50 and were still able to order food even though the kitchen was closing at 9. I don’t think the staff was too happy but still accommodated us. The food was just average but we were grateful to be able to find something that late.

Very typical lively Hard Rock Cafe just on the edge of Pier39. Fame in for drinks and a light lunch and found food and service to be ok

Wasn't the greatest. Food was nice, but my friend (veggie) ordered a veggie meal (the server knew she was veggie) but then ungraded fries ti include bacon. Not an issue in itself but an apology would have been nice.

As famous as it comes. Service and food excellent, no complaints there. Just very expensive. But that's paying for the name.

We stopped in here after receiving poor service at another restaurant, and we were met by friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. Even though the kitchen was closed, we still managed to get tasty bar food. The bar staff were friendly and efficient. Great for a late night stop.

We had a great meal at the HRC at pier 39. After an Alcatraz trip we were very hungry. The nachos were amazing and came in a good time. We then had 2 different burgers and the salmon. We all enjoyed our food and services was great. It was a little pricy but it was worth it. As a side note it wasn’t explained that there would be sauce on the salmon so maybe pop that on the menus. It was still gorgeous though

Do I need to say more!?!?! Do not go!! There are other lovely and friendly places in the area. We were with 3 families and it was difficult to bring the food at the same time. So we could not eat at the same time. Also they did not ask if we would like dessert or coffee...

We had such a poor meal here. Cold restaurant, cold food and argumentative manager who wasn’t willing to listen to us. We sent our food back and were left sitting like lemons- our waitress hadn’t communicated back to us that we weren’t getting our food back warmer. Serving Luke-warm chicken to a pregnant person and blue cheese sauce with wings is not OK. Still had to pay $10 for 2 drinks at the end! We understand that this is an expensive city but honestly expected a better service from a Hard rock.

My partner and I like to buy hard rock cafe t-shirts in the major cities we visit but after the service we experienced today at San Francisco I think that tradition has come to an end. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but based on the manners of the shop staff I would steer well clear of this place. Angry, condescending staff who are rude to people that are just trying to find the right t-shirt. If you are triggered by people taking shirts off the racks maybe you shouldn't be working in a shop that sells t-shirts.

The place to be we went there every time when we visited fisherman’s wharf Nice people serving too relaxed and very laid back. No weirdos aloud in the bar too, loud music playing good place to hang out 🤙

I have been to many Hard Rock Cafes, this one does not have an extensive amount of memorabilia, but what it does have allows it to hold its own. If you love and vibe on the 60s music scene, you'll dig it, I certainly did! Roger McGuinn's guitar, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, a Buffalo Springfield sign, among other neat pieces. I found the staff to be friendly and attentive, and did not have any issues with my meal or drinks. I would recommend they turn up the volume of the music/music videos they are playing because it is a bit low. The gentleman working as cashier in the Rock Shop in the evening was super fun and conversational, very personable and pleasant to talk with. 13. Sept 2025

My wife and I visited and for me it was my first Hard Rock experience, coffee was OK but small and the food was adequate. were part way through the Open Top Bus tour when we hopped off and wandered around the harbour area. sightseeing, seeing the seals was fun.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but to me it was just an overpriced Frankie & Bennys (if you live in the UK you'll know what I mean) Service shocking, one main meal was so late out everyone else had finsihed and it was only a salad!!!! Alot of money for what it was, and the memorabilia didn't make up for it. Just an expensive chain restaurant. Save yourself the expense and find a smaller less known place for better food.

After being installed with our 3 children, we were obviously forgotten. After 30 minutes of waiting without a server, we left the place. We therefore cannot judge the quality of the cuisine. So we returned to Fog Harbor (right opposite) where we were seated in 5 minutes and our order was taken in another 5 minutes, with a sea view…

Not a great experience - was told about the 20% tip as soon as we sat down, so you dont get any choice of service - they can do what they want. The service was poor and they just wanted to rush you out. Have been to a few hard rock cafes - and then always remember the food is not that great - you are better off going somewhere else. No wonder they had same evening availability

Arrived, seated quickly, there ends the service. Nobody approached us, when a server eventually appeared she went to the table that arrived 2 after us, greeted them in a friendly (like she knew them as friends or regulars) way, we just left.

Enjoyed Hard Rock as always. We had good service, it wasn't too busy but there was still a nice atmosphere, not as much memorabilia as some others we have visited. Main reason for visit was convenient location, predictable menu choice and a decent gluten free menu for a celiac. Would recommend and would definitely go back if in the area again.

Just to be clear this place is a total rip off. Just been for a meal with my husband and sister in law and apart from the 20% gratuity, we paid liquor tax, food tax, that added an additional 72 dollars to the bill wtf…. A mark up off 44%. Plus we were still eating our starter when a waiter turned up and said ready for your mains? To which we politely replied no, we’re still on our starter but 2 minutes later despite our protestations he arrived with our mains!,,, we had to say take them back we’re not ready. We did call our waitress over to explain what had happened and said we want fresh meals not the ones you’ve just bought out that will sit on a hot plate for ten minutes. Needless to say she was very stroppy with us afterwards. When she checked back after we were ten minutes into our main we told her we hadn’t received our side salad and asked for it to be removed from the final bill. We were not asked if we wanted dessert, our bill was bought straight to us without asking. I think they wanted rid of us. It did leave a sour taste and means we won’t be returning to a Hard Rock Cafe anytime soon. Total rip off. Don’t bother, you can get better service at a local burger place for a fraction of the cost.

This is a pleasant Hard Rock Cafe great for WiFi. The food is ok they need to bring out the starters first and let you eat them then bring out the main course. It shuts very early around 10pm which is a shame. They have nice comfy seating outside if you just want a drink.

Have visited lots of Hard Rocks around the world; every time I do I wonder why. It always amazes me that despite hundreds of thousands of fantastic songs that have been released Hard Rock more often than not play obscure music . Staff as ever were friendly, and the service was fine. Chicken burger was dry and the sauce was missing! All in all the same old story from Hard Rock who survive on an age old legacy

It’s a Hard Rock so you pretty much know what’s in store. Our party of 7 had excellent service. The burgers and salads were first class, even the chocolate brownie sundae was very good. As impressive a location as you could find. We’ve visited many Hard Rocks and this one is typically good at what it delivers

Summary: Overpriced average food - avoid. You are told that 20% service charge will be added to the bill. Of course that means that the servers don't give two hoots about service - and they really don't. Service is slow, not attentive, don't really care attitude. Food was usual for the US, but then the bill arrives and you feel like you have had a wallet lobotomy!!! How can burgers and salads cost this much!!! Seriously America - you are going to have no tourists in a few years time charging fine dining prices for cheap fried food! Ripping off tourists in not the way to go.

Great experience! The staff were super friendly, the food was tasty, and the place was clean and welcoming. Would definitely visit again!

we entered and the restaurant despite being quite “famous” was practically deserted (and this explains so many things). after about 15 minutes, the waiter arrived and with area quite annoyed asked us what we wanted to order, then after “listening” (without having noted any order) he left. after a while he came back with a dish that was absolutely not ours, and he kept insisting that we had ordered it when it was not true at all. then after a while one by one (with long distances between them) came the three dishes, only one was missing but the more time passed the more the dish did not arrive, then after the others had already finished eating it arrived. after we finished eating the waiter (Emilio) arrived to pick up the dishes and bring us the bill, without asking us if we wanted dessert or anything else to eat. bad experience, do not recommend

Fabulous Platter with spring rolls divided for two, calamari, fish. chicken wings, rosti's ,,brochette's with great topings, mushrooms. Great food and very good Service!!!

Chips or should I say 'fries' as you call them where fantastic. Burgers were ok. The prices were absolutely disgraceful!!! We were from England visiting friends. Talk about overboard prices!! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask! $20+ for a burger that I could have easily eaten 3 tines my 9 yr old girl even said is that all you get. Taking the piss is an understandment. You should be ashamed of mugging people in broad daylight

We were told a 20% service fee would be automatically added, but when we got the bill we also paid a retail tax, liquor tax AND a food tax. They added $30 to our $80 bill. WTF???? Food wasn’t even that great. Cheese on nachos was so scarce and the flat bread pizza was salty. We had two apps and two drinks.

Might be the worst ever of all Hard Rocks! I have visited a ton! Service very non engaging by one of the bartenders and just unfriendedly. Nachos just crappy (see pic) and I had to send back and was worried on a refire so just didn't eat anything else! No apology and no discount other than to take off bill. I will never return here of course and regret making the decision to venture in but I met an incredible son and father from Denmark and they hit it off with me and couldn't believe the crap service either. They tipped as little as they felt right. Music too very lightly played in volume! Bake nachos and not use microwave! I could tell! Sept 15/25. Happy hr timing.

We went on 4th July, our bar guy was amazing always ready to serve us when our drink ran out etc. Came a couple days later wasn't even as busy as our bar tender was moody, slow and rude. Either way drinks cant be fault, bit annoying when you pay for a cocktail and doesn't even come in a hard rock glass.

Our meal here was fantastic, a lot better than we had here 3 years ago. The place was busy for a Friday, and our service was really not up to par. We couldn't find our waitress half the time so we had others helping us out for refills, and more beer. Other than that, it was great.

Was surprised it was peaceful in there and was a proper escape from the busy and bustling fun around Pier39. Great value meal and pleased with the quality compared to other more expensive and more busy local alternatives. Silver our server was great, really friendly and did a great job. Also really enjoyed my cocktail.

We enjoyed the food although a little pricey. The fajitas were simply amazing and plentiful. Shout out to Rochelle who’s service was outstanding. Thank you.

This is the third Hard Rock Cafe I have been to, and it's about the same as the others, but all of them have been good. This one had an upbeat atmosphere, good service, and yummy food.

Food is not worth mentioning. Simply Hard Rock food with all the good an bad things on it. But the staff there - incredibly bad. Told us to wait, even if restaurant was not even half full. Then we wanted to sit outside, waited 10 minutes, nobody came. So we went inside, they told us, that its self service outside, however some other bartender guy was bringing some stuff out from time to time. I mean HRC self service ? No way, was it a joke ? Incredible slow, bad, lazy, lacking discipline. Never ever going back.

Our expectations were perhaps too high but we were really looking forward to our Hard Rock experience. We ordered burgers and a noodle dish. The 3 of us that ordered burgers described them as ‘smaller than expected’ and ‘just bad’. The fries didn’t taste like potato at all they were so processed. I had the noodle dish which was nice though it didn’t say it would be served cold and I was looking forward to warm food. Maybe I missed something in the menu description? Usually I start with 5 stars and hope to find no reason to drop any stars. So a star was lost for the 3 x disappointed burger customers. Another star was lost for the following: I ordered a gin & tonic (Hendricks and Elderflower tonic water). It arrived in a glass full of ice which is wonderful but for 2 problems: 1) all the ice causes the carbonated drink to go flat; 2) the tonic is from a little bottle and unfortunately those little bottles loose their bubbles very quickly so for restaurants that buy in bulk they are not a good choice bcs they just sit there and go flat. Also the garnish for Hendricks & Elderflower is usually cucumber not juniper berries. Another star is lost bcs of the 2 staff members on reception who cancelled our table that we had booked on open table upon our arrival which meant we couldn’t claim our rewards for booking a set number of times. It was just annoying. We also witnessed them being unhelpful to others. Our waiter was outstanding. He really worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed and bent over backwards to try and source me a second gin & tonight that wasn’t flat. I think if it wasn’t for him, the whole experience would have been an utter disappointment but he was lovely so well done to him.

Worst hard rock cafe I've ever been to, terrible service and the food was out of franchise standard, the waiter was extremely rude, I don't recommend it.

Having been to numerous Hard Rock Cafes around the world this one was definitely going to get a visit on our trip last month! I wish however we hadn’t bothered it’s a let down to the hard rock name. The bar staff were great but front of house and the shop staff were so rude they made rude comments about my daughters appearance and rolled their eyes when we wanted to make a purchase 20 mins before the shop was to close.

We visited this restaurant as we had been to Las Vegas and Honolulu Hard Rock Cafe’s while on holiday. We thought we also need to visit the one in San Francisco. The only thing the sane is the name and the menu! This restaurant was no where near as good as the others! Staff were ok and so was the food which is the only reason I have scored this restaurant 3 it would of been less otherwise! Like I say the food was ok. The first drinks we had the drinks with the glass to start then I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio at $10.99 I have never had such a small glass of wine for that price! Then when the bill came we had so many extra charges!! I find it hard that a big business like this charges all these extra taxes! When I asked a member of staff what they all were one member said 1 of the taxes charged us because they have 50 staff working there we have to pay their health insurance!! When we sat at our table we were only told that the tip would automatically be put on our bill, which we would of paid anyway but I also think it’s bad that they automatically put this charge on your bill, but with all the extra charges on top it’s just not good!! We had 2 drinks each I had nachos and my husband a veggie burger and the bill came to $125.88!! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone! While we was in Honolulu we went to the hard rock there 3/4 times and loved it they had happy hour 3-6 each day we had good sized drinks and never had any of these extra charges on top and just paid the gratitude that we wanted to pay! Which was always 20% by choice!! One thing is for sure when I’m back in the uk I won’t be complaining about the prices of food snd drink for a while!! Such a shame!! Perhaps hard rock should forward some of these reviews on to the big managers who are earning high wages yet charging customers all these extra charges!! I’m not the only one on here complaining! As a company you are letting your staff and customers down!! 😡

Hard Rock Cafe is a must visit anywhere in the world , the shop was ok had a good variety, the bar restaurant area was large and clean , plenty of memorabilia hanging on the walls to look at . The food looks ok but a little on the expensive side , I guess your paying for the name

Lots of empty tables but due to limited staff went on wait list. Told would be contacted by text when table ready. Sat at bar waiting, saw 2 further tables seated, never responded to our text, so asked to eat at bar. Service at bar felt as if they were doing us a favour serving us. Lack of interaction, eye contact, really poor. Our food not overly warm, observed food being presented to others and had to ask for silverware/serviettes allowing food to go cold. Could not use being busy as an excuse as really wasn’t.

Ideally located for persons visiting the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco Bay. Very much what one expects to find of this restaurant chain. I have found that some Hard Rock cafes (at least in the UK) now only serve a variety of burgers and it is not possible to order a steak. However, I enjoyed a really good New York Strip steak here. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Looks nice from the outside, very busy on the inside. I was well looked after and service was good. Did not wait too long for food.

I had the duo fajitas and a “mango berry” beverage. What I got was beyond disappointing. The chicken had pink spots(waitress passed them off as grill marks which was epically funny) the steak had not a single pink spot to be found. This was served on a bed of about 60% red and yellow onion. Total combined meat was about a half a butterflied chicken breast, swimming in a sea of oil. The shells themselves tasted like they came out on an old El Paso box, were stuck together and paired with guacamole that was nothing but poorly mashed avocado. I was blackout starving which was the only reason I could eat anything at all. The mango berry beverage I was served had no berries, pineapple or anything like what was advertised, and I think it was the wrong drink entirely. Tasted EXACTLY like the orange mango juice from Costco with a maraschino cherry and orange wedge. It was 7.50. The fajitas were 24.99. My partner ordered the hot night in Bangkok shrimp that had all the heat of an unsliced jalapeño waved over the dish before it was served, and the sliders my other partner ordered were dry AF. I expected so much better and the chef at this establishment clearly reminds you that Michelin stars started from the tire company. This has ruined all HRC’s for me for life, and the 20% included gratuity was a SLAP in the face.

The first Hard Rock Cafe was on Van Ness avenue in San Francisco until 2002, I guess. That was OK. Now there is a bank office. Maybe the Pier 39 one is bigger, there are more guests, but the old one was better...
Small Hard Rock
This a small Hard Rock Cafe compared to others I have visited. The service was poor. The food was ok but over priced. This is the worst Hard Rock Cafe I have been to. I thought it would be a safe place to eat based on experiences in other cities. Not so in San Fransisco.
