Now This is a Bar.

By TommyBoy94 |

OK. I'll be controversial here and give this rightly called "hole in the wall" bar an excellent rating. Obviously, it cannot measure up to the more expensive gourmet establishments in Seattle, but it succeeds because it is friendly, very neighborhood oriented, moderately priced and does not try to do what it cannot deliver. All this and in our favorite neighborhood in Seattle, Ballard, an area graced with a great Inn and Hotel, shops, bars, restaurants, cool people and interesting architecture. The bar and bar seating area dominated by old woods is a legit antique and like Roache and Obrien's back home in Haverford it is not a doctored up "antiqued" kind of joint. In fact, the place was apparently built in 1907. The food is great for what it offers...fairly typical bar fare. The Cheeseburgers are arguably the best I've had west of Chicago and Omaha. The fries are good and the sweet potato wedges are a special treat. I also would not neglect the chicken (Fried or otherwise) and the salads are fresh and appetizing. Great unpretentious atmosphere, fine understated well paced service, antiquarian interest, splendid neighborhood, excellent food and drink and a local hang-out to boot. Thanks John and Tom 2 for finding this hidden gem.

Southern comfort food doesn't get better than this.

Southern comfort food doesn't get better than this.

The quintessential neighbourhood place.

So HH is a Ballard, if not Seattle, tradition. Full menu ( American classics ) served with attitude, in an old school Ballard bar with booths and tables in the back. Can be abit noisy, and not a foo foo environment by any standards, but it's a smart choice for those in the know in Ballard, and everywhere else!

Interesting place, good food

By zephyrpianista |

This place has a fun vibe. Our waitress was very casual and friendly. The food was good. For breakfast, I recommend the biscuits and gravy. I had the Ballard Scramble, which was done well, just wasn't quite my taste. My sister's biscuits and gravy were great, as were my husband's eggs benedict.

Fantastic. Great place. For families too!

Love love love Hattie's !

A dive bar with a kids menu. Great service, great food. We walked in and I was a little unsure -- we were greeted warmly, slid into a booth and had a great meal! Highly recommend.

Turkey Trot Brunch

By Clay G |

We came here for brunch after running a Turkey Trot. Not many places were open on Thanksgiving, but we are glad Hattie’s Hat was. It has a bit of a rustic homey vibe to it. I ordered the Changs Migas after seeing some good reviews of it, but it just wasn’t for me. The rest of my party really enjoyed their omelets though. Service was very friendly throughout.

Epic bar and resaurant in the Ballard Area

By Sugar Grove Guy |

Since most of the breakfast restaurants were closed in the area on a Monday we ended up at Hattie's Hat a long time establishment in Ballard. The front had very small windows and dark facade- more for a evening bar rather than morning restaurant. The darkness carried into the inside. Yes, a bar at night but breakfast by morning. Sit up front if you hope to see the menu and food. I ordered a pancake, eggs and meat. The pancakes were under cooked and soggy. It is hard not to cook the eggs and bacon properly. Service was average. Yep, I was at Hattie's but there are many better establishments near by.

Fantastic hotcakes!

By Rachel2804 |

Stopped in Hattie's Hat for breakfast; had the lightest, fluffiest hotcakes with butter and maple syrup, heaven on a plate!

Decent food and prices

By nemagem |

I am not a fan of dive bars. They really do nothing for me. I guess I should have read reviews before trying this out. Anyways, we were there and hungry so might as well give it a try. Putting my disgust for dive bars aside - the food was decent. Coffee was horrible and the hot cider was obviously from a packet. The food portions are size able. I had the half size biscuit and gravy and that was more than enough breakfast for me. Heard from other dining mates that the burger was pretty awesome. I know I won't be returning here but for those who don't mind divey joints. This place has decent food for cheap. The wait staff are not super attentive so come with some patience

Eat With The Locals

Went here for breakfast and it was terrific. This is certainly a neighborhood place and has been since the early 1900's. Great service and tasty food served in quantity. Reasonably priced and a fine way to start the day.

Big Ass Pie!!!!

By Foodie123109 |

Hattie's is a nice little diner establishment serving the standard range of diner food. It doesn't pretend to be something that it's not. That's why I gave it a 3, not a 4. My wife had a veggie egg scramble, and I had the burger and fries. Both were pretty good, as good as one would expect from a diner. So I was not disappointed because I didn't expect more. But the best part of our meal was the Big Ass Pie, which on that day turned out to be apple. The crust was flaky, the filling was well seasoned with lots of apples. This wonderful huge piece of pie, which was enough for four people, not just the two of us, turned the meal from average to a little special. I plan to go back soon.

One of the oldest restaurants in Ballard!

By jojo |

Located in the Ballard District this is a fun place with good drinks and great food. Cool old bar that is rumored to be imported from England. Great The Salmon Chowder was delicious-perfectly seasoned and really creamy without being too thick. Just a couple of blocks from the Sunset Tavern and right across the street from the Ballard Hotel.

Good food, GREAT price

By ReaderPat |

I was looking for somewhere to have a late breakfast. I stopped at Hattie's Hat and had a $7 Shanny’s Breakfast Sandwich: a biscuit filled with a fried egg, tomatoes, spinach, chicken sausage, and cheddar cheese, covered in country gravy. It was good, filling, and cheap. My plate had much more food than I expected for this price. I will be back before my vacation ends.

Great dinner and drinks

By Rehsinup19 |

We stopped here for dinner prior to going to the Tractor Tavern. The food and drinks were quite good. It was nice to enjoy a hot buttered rum and a nice hot meal on a gold night. The service was impeccable.

Unexpected find!

By CharAugustine |

We stumbled upon this place quite by accident when we noticed their sign saying " Burgers & Bloody Mary's". "Interesting combo" we though so we wondered in. Ordered two Bloddy Mary's as we checked out the menu. We are not really burger people but they got us with the tilmock cheddar and the brioche bun. This was one of the best burgers either my husband or I have ever had...Delicious! The Bloody Mary was tasty too!

Great vibe, great service, food meh

By HickoryRidge |

This place is quintessential Seattle. Quirky. Funky. Perfect to accompany the Ballard Sunday Morning Farmer's Market, the best farmer's market EVER. Food was meh, so come for the ambiance, eat a little at the restaurant, then eat a LOT more at the Farmer's Market!!

Food and prices rock

By nikhilsinghal |

Best burgers in Ballard. Love their service and food. They take customizations like nobody's business and the service is fast. Monday's they have $2 off burgers 😀. Their tater tots are awesome. Love the place

Pleasantly Eccentric

By BallardBeaver |

Hatties Hat is an old-line neighborhood place that's adapted brilliantly as formerly stodgy Ballard has grown increasingly hip. Their "comfort food" items are the best bet

Quirky Ballard Haunt - Solid Food & Drinks!

By Timzorrr |

Real food here! Fun atmosphere! Friendly staff! Great drinks! I thought Hattie's Hat was going to be more of a dive bar. It isn't one really. It has lots of character and quirk. It is clean. I would definitely go again.

Good place for drinks

By sp0kanetraveler |

It was our first visit to Ballard and our friends who were staying at the Ballard Inn, invited us out for a night of drinks and dinner. We were told that Hattie's Hat was the oldest bar in Ballard, and a must visit location. So we ducked inside for some drinks and were fortunate to be seated in the round booth. The place was dark and shadowy, loud and full of atmosphere. Our server was lightning fast and were in and out in about 20 minutes and on to our next stop down the street.

Woke up this morning, and I grabbed myself a beer

By AWG |

Do not miss the breakfast/brunch at this"dive bar" restaurant. It was across the street from our hotel and we sought of stumbled in to get breakfast and went back the next day as well. Sumptuous breakfasts, friendly excellent service, and a authentic funky atmosphere, makes this place a must.

Great Food in Ballard

By George Z |

We ate lunch at Hattie's Hat (the oldest bar/restaurant in Ballard. I got a burger (grass fed beef if that is important to you), my wife got the fish tacos (not on the inside menu, don't know why). Delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As the oldest bar/restaurant in Ballard the place is not "hip" like so many places in Ballard. But don't let that keep you away!

Great hole in the wall

By tlburch51 |

So this is a place locals go. I think we may have been the only "tourist" in the place. It is a dive bar but the food is AMAZING!! My spouse had the meatloaf and I had the Vodoo burger. Very high quality ingredients with great flavor. The spinich casserole is soooo good. They are open until 2 AM!!

Great Burgers for Lunch!

By Java e |

We stumbled on Hatties Hat by accident but so glad we did! We enjoyed delicious burgers, fries and beer for lunch!

Didn’t have a good experience.

By Julianne |

Didn’t have a good experience. I ordered the Salad, chowder and bread because I wasn’t very hungry. There were a total of 4 diners. One order was wrong, one burger came without promised bacon and nothing I ordered was worth eating. The service was bad to boot. Won’t go back!

Girls Weekend

By Jeanna D |

We ate at Hattie's Hat our first night in Seattle and it was delicious. I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was fantastic. My friend had the best tater tots of her life. To make things even better our waiter (Momo) was super friendly and fun. I would definitely go here the next time I visit.

Hattie's Hat breakfast okay - basically a bar

By Barbara B |

Breakfast at Hattie's Hat was fine - basic food and gluten-free options available - but a bar atmosphere for breakfast is not my favorite.

A Nice Option for Brunch

By JourneyJen |

I visited Hattie’s Hat for a weekend brunch with my family. Though it was winter, it was a pleasant day, so my family chose to sit in the covered patio. Everyone in my party chose something different, from various egg dishes to french toast and breakfast sandwiches. Everyone agreed that their meals were nice and filling. The restaurant itself was very low key. The wait staff were friendly without being overbearing. Though the restaurant appeared to be quite busy, my group did not feel rushed.

Have a Real Meal with an Old Seattle Vibe!

By TrepidTraveler1 |

I go here for breakfast every time I'm in Seattle, and this time, I decided to go for dinner. I'm always happy. This place is genuine and cozy, with great staff. The grafitti in the bathroom stalls is even fun to read. They have lots of veggie choices, and don't miss the Swedes (Swedish pancakes with lingonberry--I had it two days in a row). For dinner, I opted for something called The Final Four--your choice of four sides. I had no idea that you could get that full on vegetables! That's another thing--don't think that a side order is a little cup of something--you could make a full meal of it! I also ordered a drink called Dark Manhattan--rye with amaro bitters--it was like dessert! Other restaurants on this street have adorable, elitist names for their dishes. Not this place--it's all food, and all good!

Awesome food!

By KatPlay |

The food here was really good! I had a great burger with cajun fries. Hubby had the meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes and spinach casserole and loved it. Topped it off with peach/rhubarb pie Delicious!!

Mr Peabody Eats Here

By odessa712 |

Takes you back to the early days of Seattle and Ballard when this part of town catered to the North Pacific fishing fleet. Some will say the place is dated, and, well it is but who really cares. The food is good and not over priced like many of the newer places on Ballard Ave. Go on Monday for $2 off all burgers all day or Wednesday of the $1 beef ribs. Good selection of beer on tap and of course 16oz cans of Rainer for the true Ballardites. If you are really hungry Sunday is a big meat loaf diner for $10 which includes a salad and mash potatoes.

Tasty BBQ, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere

By Ashley32905 |

When we went into Hattie's hat, we didn't know what to expect but the place was packed so we decided to try it out. We got a beer from the bar while we waited for a table and then got a table in about 15mins. The two people I was with ordered BBQ sandwiches which were delicious. We also tried some poutine and it was very tasty. This place is a good little hole-in-the-wall with tasty down-home cooking :)

Wonderful!

By KaylaAnn V |

We recently ate here with a large group of friends and the service was great! Our waiter was charming, friendly, and knew the menu well. He gave excellent recommendations, and the wait for food wasn't too bad at all! We all loved what we ordered. I suggest the sweet potato fries with the tartar sauce (:

Pleasantly Surprised

By cburnsesq |

We came in based on the reviews for Bloody Mary's. My SO had the Rosemary and Five Alarm which were excellent (be warned 5 Alarm is super spicey). We split the chicken fried steak. Loved the hash browns. Toast was a little bit underdone. Everything was flavorful and our waitress was attentive and kind. My only complaint would be the champagne which was kinda gross. Otherwise, if you're looking for a not so posh place with good food and vibes I'd recommend it here.

Amazing hot sauce and warm room/staff

By doglaw |

We spent an hour or so on Christmas day at the bar in this place. It was lively and warm, filled with great people and great bar staff. While we didn't eat, we did sample the hot sauce and ended up buying some for home. I will try it when I'm in Ballard next!

Creative breakfast options!

By Lisa S |

We came down for the farmers market on Sunday and stopped here for a bite to eat. They offer some very unique options! The different Bloody Mary drinks were delicious! I had the horseraddish infused Bloody Mary and it was spicy and delicious! Double YUM, For breakfast we ordered the chicken fried chicken breakfast....very good. And the corned beef hash topped with poached eggs was really different. Great for beet lovers! I really liked it, but the portion was so large, I would share it next time. Interesting place....fun!

old school bar

By Pig1287 |

Old school vibe, funky and interesting decor...heard someone say it's the oldest bar in Ballard..great bloody Mary, friendly bar tenders.

Great Hattie's Experience

By Allison |

Recently went to Hatties with a group of 10 people and a baby on a Saturday night at 7pm. After almost thinking it was going to be impossible to find a place for all 10 of us to eat and get a table, we stopped by in Hattie's and they had plenty of room for us and did not seem annoyed at all to take on a party of 10 at such a busy hour! Great hospitality as well, our server was really nice and made sure we had a good time and everything we needed. There were also two gluten free people in the party and Hattie's is super GF friendly! All sandwiches and burgers could be made with either gf buns or bread. Super exciting. Lastly, they had two different hard kombuchas which was fun for me since I am not a beer drinker! Great fun environment with a cool wall of just cat art. Overall great place to hangout with friends.

Even the drinks were bad

By lovetodive355 |

Went there with some locals...so it must have been an off night. The food was marginal, meaning pretty bland and average; however, we went there to start off the night drinking. My wife did something she has never done in her life--returned a drink. We all tried it to trade but nobody would venture into the "Dark and Stormy Night." Everyone that didn't order beer said that their drink was just OK. The place was pretty dead and the service was poor. Locals took us, so maybe just a bad night; however, I will not return.

Solid choice in Ballard

By SJH-SFSD |

Was visiting friends in Ballard and they had a happy hour meeting planned for Hattie's, so I tagged along. Nothing pretentious at all about this place - and that's fantastic. Long bar in the front with some booths. Private-ish room in the back with booths and tables. Had a real "neighborhood regular" feel to it. Good selection of beers and liquor. Menu was pretty standard bar fare as far as apps and burgers/sandwiches, but I went for the Guinness meat loaf with garlic mashed potatoes. Tasty and filling. The beers were cold, and the service attentive. More choices in Ballard all the time it seems, but Hattie's can hold its own.

Great low key bar/restaurant

By Jessica A |

Drinks are good. Food is yummy. They serve grass-fed burgers. They were very accommodating to my food restrictions. They had sweet potato circle/fry things that were so good! Big roomy booths and friendly service.

Fun place

By Pjay99 |

Enjoyed a great chicken sandwich and a beer. Very friendly service. Great atmosphere. I liked sitting and the group table and talking to other people. Reasonable prices for the area.

Great food!

By SonnyTheElder |

The Hangover Burger and Chicken-fried Chicken Breakfast were delicious! Great selection of tasty Bloody Marys as well!

Good Brunch, Friendly Staff

By Joel S |

The brunch is really tasty with generous portions. The corn beef hash is something to try. I also like eating a grill cheese sandwich at their bar on day a Monday night - I feel a real sense of community there. They are welcoming and inclusive.

Went for bloody Mary, appetizer avg

By tgbdp54 |

Heard they had a good bloody Mary, so went there. The drink was good, not great though, just good. Appetizers were just ok. Had nachos and fish tacos. Also ceaser salad. I would pass and try somewhere else.

Fun "hole in the wall"

By Jenni R |

Friendly fast service and fabulous burgers! Really great Bloody Mary's that is an appetizer and drink all in one. Fun atmosphere to duck into and enjoy with friends.

A throw back to “old” Ballard

By Alec D |

Hattie’s Hat restaurant goes back many decades. May be the last of the original ‘Saloons’ is Ballard. We stopped in for a drink after class. The service was fine as was the food and drinks

Very so-so, but has old-timey charm

By 8069sa |

This is what restaurants used to be like - dark, dingy and a bit off-putting. But the food is good and the service is very friendly and prompt. Feels like home!

Homemade Salad Dressings & Funky Decor !

By Hawaiibeachgirl |

This place looked interesting on the outside so we had to go in. It's definitely a retro dive bar/restaurant but I really liked it because of it's funky atmosphere. It was a fun place to hangout with friends, have a few drinks and some food. We had drinks, chicken wings & salads. Their salad dressings are all homemade and really good. If you are in the mood for something unique give it a try!

Good pub grub

By summerlude |

We went to Hattie's for a quick burger before going to Tractor Tavern and we got exactly what we wanted: good burgers, good fries, good bier. Service was nice and fast and it seemed like a fun place. Prices were a bit high but I guess that's Seattle...

Awesome Place

By recluse00 |

We recently stopped here for brunch and were not disappointed. The food is excellent and they have an awesome selection of bloody Mary's. Service was great, huge portions, and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a stop if your in the area.

Do NOT eat here.... especially breakfast.

By believer4ever |

This place has been around for years.... and it shows. It is dirty inside. Dark too. Nothing is clean. Ordered breakfast.... eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and bacon. Biscuits and gravy. WHAT THE HECK are those potatoes???? NOT hashbrowns..... they looked like last Monday's old chopped up leftover baked potatoes.... they were terrible.... TERRIBLE. Eggs were cold, and bacon was almost burned. Biscuits and gravy were cold, and the biscuit was hard as rock.... yep... could pound on it with my fork and it made sounds.... showed it to the server.... not too much concern. Took a bit off my bill... no replacement, even though I could not eat it. I will NEVER eat here again.... with so many options, go to the old firehouse and have a REAL breakfast.... don't eat here.

Racist or just dumb?

By Christian W |

Attended a gig at next doors tractor tavern and just wanted to have dinner at this place. The guy at the door - high on marijuana or sth else - didn't let us (54 and 46 years old) in, saying he can't accept Austrian passports !!!! What happened to Seattle????

good breakfast

By MindykaySL |

Stopped here upon recommendation from a local. Great prices, great breakfast options. My husband really enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles.

Funky, fun and fabulous food.

By Ross C |

A restaurant with a distinctive character. Server personable and welcoming. Food was great. Pub grub with flair... I had the "adult grilled cheese" with the optional spinach casserole stuffing. Simply amazing. Equally tasty options for carnivores and vegans. Good selection of beer on tap but also wine and mixed drinks

Local dive.

Local dive.

Great Vibe, Great Food

By Lyn S |

Stumbled upon this eclectic place for brunch on a recent day in Ballard and will return on our next visit. We were quickly seated in the front section in a well worn booth overlooking a wonderful old carved bar. The prompt, friendly service was complemented by quickly delivered delicious food. The " Swedes" Swedish pancakes were delicious and my husband loved his well seasoned hash with a punch of beet. Hamburgers were cooked as ordered and had a nice compliment of condiments. The background music creates a fun vibe with widely varied styles to appeal to the mutigenerational clientele we experienced.

A solid bar with good food

By Michael |

I went because the burgers were highly recommended by locals. A stout good burger with bacon and amenities was the result. You won't leave hungry. The drink selection covers all the bases desired. They are busy but this does not interfere with customer service.

Great breakfast

By Rehsinup19 |

My wife and I came here for breakfast and really enjoyed our meal. The chicken fried chicken, fruit plate and poached eggs were delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. We have had dinner here several times and really enjoyed it and the breakfast was just as good.

Back in time

By Connie H |

A 1902 history of sea faring days in Seattle. Really old and dark but the server was a bright light. All tatted out. Very helpful and attentive. Food was very good and presented well. A famous mural on the wall and bar back wood is fantastic. Needs a handout on history. Could use a good sweeping.

Hole on the wall

By midandstl |

We came by to this side of town to check out Sonic Boom Record Store. After looking around and purchasing an album we asked the local store clerk if they new a good bar to stop by and have a drink or 2. He recommended this place and we are glad we did... it is definitely a hole on the wall but the people are friendly and they are play old movies on a VHS player... yes I said VHS... LOL. We did not have any food, we just really wanted to have a couple of beers before heading back.

Great food, service and drinks

By Rehsinup19 |

We came prior to Cashed out at the Tractor Tavern and had a great experience. The Chicken Fried Steak and Hot Buttered Rum were very well done. Our server did an excellent job- friendly and fast. We enjoyed the ambience of Hattie's. It has a relaxed feel with vintage furnishings and decor, the carved wood bar is amazing.

Old-fashioned dive bar atmosphere with great food

By NW_Roadtripper |

This Ballard institution has been around since 1904, before Ballard was incorporated into Seattle. The immediate neighborhood has gone upscale in the past 10 years, with commensurately higher priced restaurants and pubs. But Hattie's retains its original charm and slightly gritty atmosphere from Ballard's seafaring and industrial past. The bar area is old-fashioned dive bar (meant as a compliment) and the booths are wood and Formica table tops, but the decor is ornate woodwork, old murals, and an antique clock by the door - authentic, not synthetic, charm. The cocktails are *strong* (have a driver if you're having more than one), the beers and wines varied, and enough non-alcoholic beverages to round out the mix. The fare isn't fancy, but plenty scrumptious. Come for the Sunday chicken-fried chicken special. The salmon chowder is home made to perfection, and the other side dishes (choose two with dinners) excellent. Hattie's remains a good value for dinner and drinks. Service is personal and attentive. It's the kind of place you're recognized when you're a regular.

Don't Keep This Place Under Your Hat

By TrepidTraveler1 |

This historic restaurant was built in the beginning of the last century and was quite a wild place, I understand. There's a touch of a kitty-cat motif, and the cups all have cats on them, so I assumed that Hattie had been the owner's cat until I read up on it--it's his favorite aunt. The front is kind of Googie/atomic age/Peter Gunn, and I'm sorry that I neglected to take a photo. I went in for breakfast and ordered the jasmine rice/beans/and eggs dish. A vegetarian delight. Coffee was good, too. The server seemed to be the only one in the place serving, and she never stopped moving. The place was crowded for a weekday morning, but everything came out great, although not really fast because of the crowd, and the server was a kick in the pants. I'll go back! The outside of the restaurant/bar has a

Good location ok food

By Marina M |

Right in the middle of a busy street in Ballard where they have the farmers market on weekends. Decent service. Food was ok. Vaccine card and masks required.

Greasy bar food, dark, dirty

By HappyTravlrInMO |

Really I expected much better of this place as several people had mentioned it. I arrived with several friends and we were appalled at the dark, grimy atmosphere. Still we hoped for the best. The food arrived lukewarm at best, greasy....the place smelled of old cooking oil, coffee was strong & stale... I definitely would say funky is being kind. Will not return. This place is the WORST of the "old school" places. Perhaps things are better at night.

Great find

By Leslie W |

Not much was open for outdoor dining at lunchtime, but fortunately we happened on Hattie’s. Our table had a table-top heater which didn’t do much for our feet but kept the rest of us warm. For me, the best warming came from a wonderful sausage, bacon, and black-eyes pea soup that was a perfect antidote to the weather. I also had a great beet, walnut, and arugula salad. My spouse enjoyed his cheeseburger and fries and a NA beer. Service was pretty good as well. Good option for good comfort food.

Fantastic Bloody Marys

By jjinsantafe |

Charming ambiance with an old 1902 bar originally installed there and small, wooden booths. Service was perfect. The sandwiches are incredible; salads fresh and yummy. So glad we didn't miss going to Hattie's Hat in Ballard.

Consistently Awesome!!

By Good Citizen |

I have been going here for years. Recently doing some work in the Ballard area so I hit it more then usual for Breakfast and/or Dinner. It is remarkably consistent with each food variety chosen as if it was a 1846 Swiss Watch. Even better is the service. Professional, yet Loose. Friendly, yet not like they are having a close-friend convo as 15 people wait and stare. Think I’ll stay late one of these nights working so I can sample good night life and confirm it’s consistent awesomeness. We will be back.

Best Wings

By Autorae |

Hattie's was recommended by a local who described it as "more punk rock" than your average bar. It was indeed. The atmosphere was great. I ordered a blue cheese burger and chicken wings. Both were phenomenal. My partner declared the wings to be the best he's ever had and continued to press the waiter for the "secret" wing ingredient. The burger was juicy and full of cheese. I was less thrilled about my mixed drink, but didn't care due to my food coma.

Great breakfast place - found

By CarrieOregon |

Wanted to explore Ballard (we were tourists). It has a definite bar vibe and the breakfast hit the spot. I had the Hattie’s Bennies w/ tasso ham and it was the best eggs benedict version, I've ever had (really). My husband enjoyed his meal and I was too busy eating mine to notice what he ordered. He was lucky I shared a few morsels of the tasso ham with him. Service was good and the only minor complaint, the coffee was just okay. After b-fast, walked around Ballard and pretended to walk off the meal.

Great brunch!

By lovestotravel00 |

We had a wonderful breakfast here, I had the Salmon scramble dish which was very delicious. The biscuits were very good, but I would not bother to order a side fruit plate...it consist of a tangerine, unripe pear slice and strawberries. We sat in the back room which was quite cool, I noticed everyone ate with their coats on. Despite this, I would definitely come back for the great food and service.

No place more fun in Ballard!

By RockridgeC |

Thank God the Seahawks won the game early in the day! My wife and I were planning to host a few people (20+) for cocktails as a get together of friends, family and new to town folks. We attempted to find a location, but as it works out, our niece said "We're going to Hattie's" A small pub room, at the back of an historic bar, might not seem the place to introduce people from both coasts, all persuasions, and of various alcohol adaptations. Stop the presses... our server, Mo, rocked the house - got every drink order, served snack food with aplomb and kept the entire party on their toes. He was the difference! Not sure if you can enjoy the same circumstances as we did, but Hattie's Hat in Ballard is a bundle of fun!

Funky and delicious all hours of the day and night.

By Jeanie V |

Great music, funky interior, damn good food. Breakfast to very late night. Drunk + mashed potatoes? YES

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty meals

By Richard R |

On our first day in the area, we walked across the street from our hotel for a meal. The menu had a few different items listed than what we are used to seeing but we had the usual breakfast fare, and it was very tasty. The bloody Mary was good too. The service was good, so our experience was a positive one. We went back the next evening because a bar down the street said they had the best fish sandwich in the area. Well, we found out that they temporally removed fish from the menu because the fish prices are so high in the area. Too bad for us but we had burgers, and they were just ok and certainly not up to the Midwest beef standards we're used to. Once again, the service was good and friendly.

Great late nights eats!

By GinaS |

We were in the area for a girls weekend and Hattie's came recommended. If you're into local dives with great food and atmosphere, you have to stop in! Service was great, lots of smiles and they obviously have a very regular clientele. Great drink menu and the perfect late night food menu! My chicken fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach was delicious and absolutely hit the spot after a long day sightseeing in Seattle.

Great Breakfast, neat place

By Mark0076 |

Went here for breakfast. They have been open since 1904. I had the chicken and French toast. The food was good especially the chicken. Large portions. I would eat here again.

Delicious Burgers

By Jennifer_S2727 |

We came here with my parents when they were in town visiting. We had never been here before, but was in a mood for a burger. Their burgers are large and delicious with many options to chose from. While we didn't have any, they also have a breakfast menu that looked good as well. Their staff was friendly with good service.

Great breakfast!

By skoobaru |

We were staying at the a Hotel Ballard and walked across the street to eat here. We were seated right away. Coffee was delicious. My husband got the blueberry hotcakes. I got the spinach, bacon, cheddar scrambled eggs. Everything we had was great!! Definitely would recommend this place!
