Great food, amazing service and fantastic cocktails. Hawksmoor is a steakhouse from the UK, opened in Chicago (gotta say ballsy move) and it is absolutely worth it! We have been in twice - once for Happy Hour and once for a steak dinner. It is in an amazing space, gorgeous bar, the building was a late 1800’s Powerhouse and previously Michael Jordan’s restaurant. We were very impressed with the expertly crafted cocktails (by Kate), innovative menu (met Matt) and really personalized service. I feel like we know Jonty the Manager, Ruben the server has remembered us from the last time we came in and John, a new server, is also very good as well. We loved the oysters, burger, mac’n cheese, asparagus, Chateaubriand, gold fashioned and we will be back for sure to try more items!

Went to Hawksmoor since the mother ship restaurant in London is number 23 on world’s best steaks. Hawksmoor deserves its ranking. The food did not disappoint from dinner to desert. My wife had filet cooked to perfection. No blood or juice. One has to pay for bread but the bread was great. Had sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. What surprised both of us the treatment of the customer from the person seating you, the waiter/waitress, bar staff, kitchen serving staff. One negative for some might be wait and service staff having tattoos. I say this because some steak house restaurants try to avoid that and there might be people that could be turned off. I will say this the the level of customer service makes up for it and in way it gives Hawksmoor and edgy feel. The wait server we had was a nice young blonde woman with glasses. Sorry I forgot the name.

We had eaten a steak dinner at Hawksmoor in London's Seven Dials a few years ago and were not impressed but we enjoyed a very nice British Sunday roast at Hawksmoor in Chicago this week. . Sure there are "British Pubs" in Chicago doing Sunday roast but they aren't in the same league as the one served at Hawksmoor. This is the real deal!! The Yorkshire puddings and gravy are world class. My only complaint is the outrageous mark-up on drinks at Hawksmoor. A gimlet is $18, a French 75 .... $24! Cheapo Nino Franco Prosecco, that's $19 retail is priced at $58. And the only British Bubbly on the menu is $195 a bottle!! We love British bubbly but are used to spending $60 a bottle, we also expected more than one British wine to be on the menu. Hawksmoor's Sunday roast is very tasty and a good value, service was friendly and attentive, the drinks are overpriced.

Last night, I dined at Hawksmoor on its highly anticipated opening night, and it was spectacular. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing. The interior was a combination classic steakhouse vibe with modern elegance. The service was great. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food and drinks they were serving. Our waiter took the time to explain the menu and make recommendations based on our preferences, which was greatly appreciated. We started with the Carolina spiced pork belly and the Potted Beef & Bacon; both were outstanding, setting the tone for what was to come. We opted for steak obviously and it was cooked to perfection; juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. It was accompanied by sides Beef Dripping Chips and Creamed Spinach, both of which were excellent. The drinks menu was equally impressive, featuring a wide selection of wines and expertly crafted cocktails. We tried the Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew and the Hawksmoor Martini, both were refreshing. Overall, Hawksmoor’s first night was a huge success; outstanding, delicious food, super service, and a comfortable atmosphere made the night perfect.

I had been awaiting a chance to experience Hawksmoor ever since I saw a YouTube video about the London branch last year. When I heard Hawksmoor was opening in Chicago I jumped at the chance to get a reservation for the first weekend. Great decision. My wife and I (celebrating an anniversary) had exactly the meal we were looking forward to. Knowing we would be splitting a large Porterhouse, we tried to keep the appetizers to a minimum to maximize appetite. Despite a huge selection of appetizers options, we limited ourselves to the Carolina pork belly, which was perfect and heirloom tomatoes…though we also had to have the Publican sourdough bread. The 38 ounce Porterhouse was perfectly cooked to my wife’s preferred “Medium”, but with enough pink to keep me happy. The strip side was deliciously marbled with the desired firmness, but the filet side really was really the star here (it’s usually the reverse)…tender, juicy was a rich taste that was enhance by the side of Bearnaise. As a finale, we had the rich chocolate Louie, billed as the best dessert option- a rich version of Butterfinger meets Snickers which we loved. The food was fancy, but the room and its vibe were not at all stuffy (looking like a very nice English pub) with great staff (Amir, our waiter was great) and a welcome casualness. I was thrilled that we were able to go opening weekend with no noticeable service glitches. As you might expect, a very expensive experience, but a great evening!

As a South African who grew up on steaks, it's my first to the Windy City on a business trip, and a friend invited me to Hawksmoor Chicago's opening night. Although the wait for a table was initially slow due to opening night, the overall experience was exceptional. Being a connoisseur of steaks, I can honeslty say that my over all experience rivaled their UK branches. The combination of outstanding food, impeccable service, and a charming atmosphere made for an unforgettable dining experience. Hawksmoor has set a high bar for steakhouses in Chicago, and I eagerly look forward to my next visit. If you appreciate high-quality steaks and I mean tasty and simply mouth watering, the Hawksmoor Chicago is a must-visit destination.

Hawksmoor has an incredible ambience. Incredibly beautiful dining room and private event spaces. Feels like retro modern 1920s chicago with all the artwork and decor. Food was delicious and cocktails were great! Hawksmoor was able to make the Chicago classic liquor, Malort, into a fantastic tasting libation.

This by far one of my favorite Restaurants. The food always comes out so fresh and cooked to perfection The wait service is very welcoming and explain their favorite items on the menu I will 100% come back to this place and the NYC one

This is one of my favorite new spots in Chicago! If you haven’t tried their Sunday Roast you are missing out! The flavors are out of this world amazing! The atmosphere is so inviting a beautiful and don’t skip their tasty cocktails! My husband and I loved everything about this location and we appreciate the fantastic service and hospitality by Rachel and the manager Kyle! Would 100% recommend for any Chicago foodies looking for the new Chicago hot spot, delicious food, and unique an tasty cocktails! 🍽️😋

Atmosphere and decor were lively and stylish. The steaks were good, but not great (which they should be at this high price point). However, the other food and the pace of service were sub standard. One person in our party had a veal chop. It had little flavor and the concept of garnish of fried oysters with tartar sauce just doesn't work well with a veal chop. The Caesar salad was as ordinary as you could get--the lettuce seemed to be pre-cut by an outside vendor; the croutons were powder; it was hard to detect any cheese; and the dressing (which was not tossed into the salad) tasted like it was from a bottle. The toffee sundaes for desert were mostly melted and the toffee sauce was way too heavy. The pace of service was very slow. We were there for almost three hours from the time we ordered until we finished desert, and it was not because we were socializing too much. Our entrees were not served for around an hour from when we finished our salads. Our server meant well, but he was clearly having problems with a Saturday night crowd and apparent issues in the kitchen. To the restaurant's credit, the manager was very pleasant, and professional. He acknowledged the service issues and comped our desserts. However, that couldn't really create much of a cure for the problems. Note, that this place is very expensive. (e.g. A 5 oz. pour of Sancerre for $40.00!; many of the steaks $90.00 or more). Diners who are willing to pay such prices will and should expect much more.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in ages...maybe ever. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. Went for the Sunday Roast which was sublime! An extensive wine list and a varied choice of desserts capped off a great meal.

The steak, sides and drinks here are absolutely amazing. I went with family and can’t wait to go back already. If you have the chance to go, do it! My favorites were the filet, ash-baked beets, and the macaroni & cheese.

I had been awaiting a chance to experience Hawksmoor ever since I saw a YouTube video about the New York location last year. When I heard Hawksmoor was opening in Chicago I jumped at the chance to get a reservation for the first weekend. Great decision. My family and I had exactly the meal we were looking forward to. Knowing we would be splitting a large steaks, we tried most of the appetizers, each one better than the next. Despite a huge selection of appetizers, we still ordered many different items from the menu The 32 ounce Porterhouse was perfectly cooked to a text book “Medium Rare”, so deliciously marbled with the touch of finishing salt which just made every bite so delectable then there was the filet side so tender and juicy a rich taste that was enhance by the side of Bearnaise which amazing (this coming from someone who is not generally a bearnaise fan) it was the best compliment to the already delicious steak. The sides were fabulous get the mashed potatoes with the bone marrow gravy, it was the most flavorful gravy I have ever had. (One of those you wanna put it on everything types) And for dinner with a table of sweet fans we ordered everything!! The sticky toffee pudding was warm and rich and something I would literally eat everyday! Then there was the chocolate Louie, a rich decant version of what I could only describe as a mashup of a Butterfinger and a Snickers which are my two favorite chocolate bars. The food was elegant, which echoed throughout the room and its vibe was the perfect place to be. What I loved most about the restaurant was you don’t feel rushed like you do in most Chicago steakhouses. It has a very European vibe just to enjoy your evening, the quality of the food, and your company.. I truly cannot recommend this restaurant enough to all of our friends looking for that special experience. THIS IS IT!! And I can’t wait to come back again!

An excellent dinning experience! We went for a business dinner with a group of 9. We had the set sharing menu for $145 per head which was perfect. Masses of food, all of delicious. Steaks were first class. Delicious fries cooked in dripping..Loved the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Great new venue. Well done!

High end prices but more of a casual steakhouse. Get a booth if you want to talk as it’s kind of noisy. Fair warning - a shared 30 oz. porterhouse is $180 - pretty pricey. Drinks are very good and it’s BYO wine on Monday with no corkage fee. Bread is sourdough and so good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Best deal there is the ice cream - great flavors and really good. Service was also very good. If there’s a next time, I’ll get a burger and split it.

Beautiful space and vibe - can’t believe how well the space has been transformed! Food was delicious and service was on point! Great quality meats cooked to perfection and a nice selection of starters and sides. I especially appreciated the Yorkshire pudding (potted beef and bacon) - don’t see that on the menu often… Definitely looking forward to the Sunday Roasts!

Excellent place and service - with a super wine list (including an outstanding pinot noir from my favorite wine region in Germany.) Recommend the 12 ounce rump steak - an underrated cut that's prepared to perfection here. Kyle the bar manager was particularly attentive - moving us towards the amazing peanut butter Louis.

The perfect place for a business dinner. Incredible steaks and cocktails, wonderful service. Dessert was well above standard for a steakhouse.

Oh my what a wonderful addition to the Chicago restaurant scene. Service was 5 star. All the staff are super but special shout out to Kyle and Oscar. Great cocktails and wine (the cherry negroni is wonderful!!!). We enjoyed the pork belly starter, then the veal chop (pink) which was delicious with chips and a Mac & cheese side. To finish we shared an atomic sundae. The restaurant is set in a quirky building that was previously a cable car powerhouse.

Visiting from the UK where Hawksmoor originates, I just had to try the Chicago restaurant. The moment I walked in and confirmed my reservation I knew I was in for an enjoyable meal. I was quickly seated and was taken care of by Reuben who was brilliant. it started off with lovely warm bread. I ordered the smaller sized T Bone & Garlic Prawns with mashed potato gravy, spinach and the bone marrow gravy on the side. The steak was perfectly cooked, the mash potato gravy was absolutely beautiful , the bone marrow gravy is brilliant. The prawns were so succulent and juicy, beautiful. As I was celebrating my birthday week I was offered a free desert by Reuben which was unbelievable.

We’ve been to many of the Hawksmoor restaurants in London. This lives up to its name. Awesome. Great food, service and vibe.

Even at the very best steakhouses, you rarely see Chateaubriand on the menu. But Hawksmoor, a newcomer to Chicago, is an exception. Based in London, England, Hawksmoor has been rated as the No. 1 steakhouse in the world. Now it is making a reputation in Chicago. Located at 500 North La Salle Street, in a historic 1886 building that once was occupied by Michael Jordan's restaurant, it is a glitzy 16,500-square-foot venue dressed in dark wood, barrel-vaulted ceilings, exposed timber joists and glass chandeliers. Open from 5 to 9 Monday through Thursday, 5 to 9:30 on Friday, noon to 3 and 5 to 9:30 on Saturday and noon to 3 and 5 to 9 on Sunday, Hawksmoor specializes in cooking all-natural beef on live-fired charcoal. My wife and I anticipated an evening of elegant dining and we weren't disappointed. We started with shrimp cocktail with chili crunch cocktail sauce, charcoal roasted sea scallops with white port and garlic, Caesar salad with Cantabrian anchovies and a heirloom tomato salad with whipped Wisconsin feta and olive oil croutons. We were delighted with the 20-ounce Chateaubriand (at $6 per ounce) with bearnaise sauce, garlic shrimp and maple bacon, mashed potatoes, sauteed spinach and mushrooms. For dessert, we shared portions of coconut rice pudding with fresh blackberries and sticky toffee pudding with milk ice cream. In a town noted for outstanding steakhouses, Hawksmoor has found its niche.

Altogether a solid experience, thanks mostly to the service. Our server, was amazing. The host, sommelier, and bartender were all attentive, friendly, and upbeat. Even for a slower Sunday evening. The food wasn't bad by any means but nothing really stood out besides the dessert- their "Atomic Sundae" was out of this world. I would return just to have that.

Food was ok. Beautiful building. Very poor service from waitress. Poor attitude. Don’t check in on how food was. Didn’t check in after one dish was sent back. Expect top class service for these prices.
An OK addition to Chicago steakhouse scene
Everything was OK, but the only thing that was spectacular was the Thai oysters. Those were amazing. The steak and sides were average - with the rib steak being a little on the tough side. Service was great. Steak house prices (pricey).
