Great Brunch Experience!

By Yolanda H |

The atmosphere was great. We got a table by the window and the view of the area was nice. The food was great.

Great experience and a must-see place if in Dallas!

By Anna |

Great food, ambience and service! It was the first time I visited and would highly recommend if you are on business or pleasure.

Nice Atmosphere, decent steak.

By thollandam |

The atmosphere was Cowboy Chic. The drinks and customer service were good. We had the Wagyu tomahawk. We ordered it medium rare, and it was still a little tough and had a lot of gristle. We pretty much think it was not Wagyu. It was not A5, as we did ask before ordering. It had a pretty good flavor though. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were good. I would sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers if I return. There’s valet parking and a parking garage attached to the restaurant. I think valet was $10. We parked in the garage and paid $16 upon exit.

Great place for Texas cuisine

By AVGTXN |

Sunday lunch. Haywire banks on its Texas atmosphere in a classy way. Servers wear Cowboy hats and hostesses are in cowboy boots. No spurs etc. If you're from out-of-state, Haywire can give you that Texas feeling without you having to drive to the Ft. Worth Stockyards. You can valet park or park in the attached garage and take an elevator right into the restaurant. Parking is validated. Our appetizer of fried okra was really good. My companion's standard breakfast ($13) was very good. My 'low and slow' baked chicken served in an authentic cast iron skillet was moist and well flavored. Sides were well done. The large cornbread muffin had just the right touch of sweetness. (I would suggest they serve it on a separate plate so it doesn't get mushy from the chicken juices.) Service was very attentive. For a downtown restaurant, prices are in line with any other place in the area. For this native Texan, Haywire is a welcome addition to the Sunday lunch scene downtown and worth future visits.

Southern Sophistication!

By LolaWillis |

Elevated Southern cookin'! They've taken downhome favorites and turned them into sophisticated chef's favorites. We were duly impressed with the burnt ends and fried green tomatoes appetizers which were made with particular attention to nuance of flavor and texture. I had the chicken fried steak which was spectacular, served with jalapeño white gravy, garlic mashed potatoes and the most fresh, delicious garlic green beans I've ever had. Great service, classy western atmosphere. Highly recommend for southern sophistication!

Try the Venison Chili

By Stephanie |

I had a wonderful experience at Haywire. The staff was exceptionally friendly and polite, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. I tried the venison chili, which had the perfect amount of spice and was incredibly satisfying. I ordered the smaller cup was more than enough to fill me up. They certainly didn't skimp on the venison, which was tender and flavorful.

LOVED THE MEATLOAF AND SMOKED FRIED CHICKEN

By Fisher327 |

We dined early, before the symphony, and were able to be seated at the bar immediately. Our servers, Drew and Jess, were absolutely wonderful - Drew’s smokey old fashioned is a must have. There were three of us, one had meatloaf which was a huge, delicious portion and two had the smoked fried chicken, all shared the Brussels sprouts. Everything was great the chicken eaters went on and on about the juicy smokey taste. Did I mention we enjoyed Drew’s smokey old fashioned drinks? Service was fantastic. By the time we needed to leave the bar and restaurant was slammed with folks waiting to get in so I suggest reservations unless you want to dine prior to 5:00. Typical of a Dallas restaurant it was a loud, happening place. We look forward to a return visit.

Loved Haywire at Valentine’s Day!

By lv1025 |

My wife and I had an exceptionally enjoyable early Valentine’s Day dining experience. We were seated promptly, our waiter was cordial, knowledgeable, and did not smother us or attempt to oversell us. Our food came out timely, at correct temperatures, and each menu item we selected was of high quality, expertly seasoned, and exhibited tasteful presentation. The Haywire cocktail is one of the best Old Fashioneds I have had. The noise level was very acceptable and if you like Texas and things Texas, the decor is appropriate without being overdone. If you like Texas menu offerings, if Haywire doesn’t have it, you probably don’t need it. We are very much looking forward to being able to return to this excellent restaurant.

Disappointing

By TutinsPony |

We had high expectations and were pleased when we got a table outside on their patio for Brunch. The service was friendly, but slow and not attentive at all. They did not have any coffee mugs/cups and served the coffee in paper cups, without even an offer to provide the coffee for free. The cups were slippy and one of us split coffee all over themselves! The menu was limited for brunch but seemed to be good, however, the food was disappointing and small portions, see the photo of the Avocado toast. One of the TV's outside was not working properly, odd for a restaurant that is relatively new.

Not for large groups

By kfmonroe8 |

Large group of us rented the back room with limited menu to pick from due to organization paying for our group meal. Spicy chicken soup was good, definitely needed more chicken, salad was fresh, tasty—best part was the cheese. I chose the ribeye and out of 4 mine was the only one over cooked- didn’t say anything just carried on, hubby got the redfish—was yummy as well as mashed potatoes on both our plates. Had a pecan pie bite and bite of a cake for dessert, they were tiny but delicious. Was super frustrating that our reservation was for 6:00, we were all present by 5:50 and seated, only choice we had to make was which entree to pick, did not get any good until 6:50. We had a meeting to get back to by 7:45, that didn’t happen. Will try this place again on our own if in the area but definitely wouldn’t recommend for a large group. Atmosphere was well done. Our two servers did great!! Front desk not friendly or welcoming, didn’t say anything to anyone leaving or entering when we were up there.

Great food for date night

By India T |

My husband and I had dinner here while on vacation. The decor is very “Dallas” if that makes sense to you. We reserved a table in the climate-controlled patio, which was a great choice. You get the city views while inside the cozy restaurant. Our server Pernod (forgive me if I’m butchering his name) was great, very attentive. And I can’t forget the pretty hostess that offered to take our picture (I didn’t get her name but we were there 10/27/25 if that helps and she wore black leather leggings and a red/black/tan flannel shirt, with longish black hair). The food was amazing! I got the ribeye with tallow fries and my husband had the ribs with mac & cheese and cornbread. When I say all of it was good, I mean EVERYTHING was cooked just right-the steak was juicy and flavorful, the fries were hot with the right crisp balance, mac & cheese was creamy and seasoned, and the ribs were perfection! And the cornbread…I’m not even big on sweet cornbread but this here tasted like something from a deep south granny’s kitchen! I also had a classic margarita that was very well made, not too sweet or overwhelming. If you’re in the area, please check them out-great choice for date night. We will be back on our next trip to Dallas.

Why have a reservation?

By Brad V |

I typically enjoy Haywire however, the past 2 times we have been awkwardly greeted by the hostess even with a reservation BOTH times. The hostess seemed to be preoccupied and somewhat detached from greeting customers. The restaurant was maybe 30% capacity. Slow Sunday around 1:30. The hostess tried to seat us at a tiny 2 top table on the patio. Our res was not for the patio. We asked if we could sit inside, and she hesitantly said "yes" and told us to have a seat and wait.....After waiting 10 minutes she took us past 6 open booths and 4 tables to sit us directly between two parties at another 2 top table. We sat there for 7-8 minutes without being greeted by a server and decided to sit at the bar. When asked about all of the open booths and tables and we were told they were "reserved and for 4 or more guests". We ordered two drinks at the bar and were handed menus. The bartender was doing inventory and the service bartender stayed busy. We had to flag down the bartender to order food after waiting 35 minutes. The food was average. My chicken was half breaded and the gravy was nonexistent which made eating it with the large biscuit dry and difficult. While sitting at the bar we noticed several of the booths were being sat with parties of 2. Upon leaving many of the tables and booths remained unoccupied. The next time we Brunch in Dallas, this won't be high on our list. The experience starts with the first face you see.

Fun Restaurant, Excellent Meal

By Mark P |

We had dinner at Haywire and had a great time. The cocktails were strong and good, service was friendly and quick, and the food was excellent. I especially recommend the appetizer sampler and the tenderloin. Haywire is unpretentious and fun, with live music. I would happily return.

Loved Haywire!!

By TravelB |

Exceeded my expectations! Haywire is Texas chic at its best! The atmosphere is great and service is awesome. The menu is diverse enough to offer something for everyone. Sides can be served family style to try several. We loved the fried green tomatoes and whole fried okra as appetizers. Can’t wait to try this again!!

It was fine. Not worth a trip.

Cfs fell out of the breading immediately. Wagyu is irrelevant. Faux cowboy outfits and typical Dallas vibe You're better off flat SaltGrass.

Sunday Brunch

By Joshua O |

If you are staying in Uptown and want a brunch spot, this might be worth trying. Parking garage a few steps away the validates parking when you come here (parking is typical big city, hard to find, easy to miss the public spots, etc) * We started with the Mini Elk Tacos and flavor house it is! Never had Elk before but nothing weird to it at all. For mains, we choose the Wagyu Pastrami Hash and the Crabcakes Benedict. Hash was nice and filling and the pastrami was perfect. The Benedict was my favorite flavor but mine had shells in every bite. It happens, not mad about it but that's the only reason this review was not a solid 5 of 5 stars. I'd order it again * Now, we mustn't forget about the cocktail right? The Judd and the Haywire were very nice selections if you like Old Fashioned's. I also tried the Texas Mule and that was my favorite. Will def be taking the jalapeño ingredient idea back home with me * Service at vibe we're awesome. Tastefully decorated and fast service all around. Plenty of space to pick seating from the bar, dining room or the outdoor patio. They even had a little camper setup with a table inside for those cute "do it for the gram" moments. Recommend checking it out if you are in town

Bad food smarty waitress

By William P |

Here with a group of eight on a Tuesday night. I ordered Burnt ends as starter. When waitress came around again for orders for main course I ordered the short rib stroganoff and was informed they no longer offered, although on the menu and on line. Not wanting ribs since I had ordered burnt ends I opted for prime rib. Burnt ends arrived they were pure fat with sauce spread over them. In edible, others at table said complain. Waitress did not show up until with entrees when I mentioned it and showed a plate full of fat she said I should have complained earlier and she would have called to show her manager. Burnt ends are not solid fat. Prime rib done right except way to much salt. My daughter was the food editor for one of the largest papers in the country and told me to write a review on line as that will get attention. Sorry Haywire one of worst meals and experiences I have had in Dallas.

Recommend to Everyone

By c22hubb |

Really enjoyed our dinner at Haywire! The atmosphere was great! Would recommend this to anyone. I got a special that was fish with some crab on it in a creamy sauce. Really enjoyed that! We also got the appetizer platter. Everything on it was great! Loved it.

Worth the money

By Ajia C |

Everyone was so kind, we weren't super dressed up and even though we looked casual they treated us so kindly. The food was spectacular. I loved the atmosphere and the concept of seeing into the kitchen was super unique and intriguing for me.

Fabulous service, food and ambience

By Gottaluvsummer |

Went as a party of 14 - everyone loved their food - steak cooked to perfection ( not too salty like much of Dallas steakhouses), fish was exceptional, sides were great, drinks were good. Service was fast and efficient - sat in front of the kitchen - it worked like clockwork. Great evening - well done Haywire.

The Food and the Service were not very good.

By Heston Y |

The environment looks amazing. I was poised for great food. The only good food were the tacos as an appetizer. My steak wasn't even all that good. Longhorn steakhouse is way better. The server forgot about us, a couple of times I think. It took us 2.5 hours to get out of there. There are better steakhouses in Dallas. Go there instead.

Great atmosphere

By Rob H |

This is a great spot with a "screened in" porch area. I was there on a very nice weather/sunny day and a lot of fresh air which made the atmosphere very nice. I was on my way to the NCAA women's final basketball game and they had TV monitors with the pre-game show on which was really nice. I had a nice glass of white wine and the burgers were delicious. The service was excellent and we had a party of 12.

Wow! Delicious!!

By generations7 |

Wow! Everything was just amazing! Beautiful atmosphere & delicious food!! Everyone raved about what they had for dinner. My husband had the pork chop & wow it was melt in your mouth delicious! I had the chipotle meatloaf which was also delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate cake & it was amazing too! Our new favorite restaurant in Dallas! You must try Haywoods!

Okay

The food was okay. I felt like the wait staff could’ve put more of an effort when explaining the menu. Just wasn’t very welcoming.

The best of Dallas - food and service

By SDBEC1 |

Buzzing on a cold Saturday night. Nice touch with the welcome - switching greeting from last to first name. Vibrant but warm feel to the various dining areas and wait teams that just didn’t stop. Food was superb (chef’s app platter, cat fish and shrimp, meatloaf and filet steak) and Columbus, our server, was just charming. Oh, pecan pie (as recommended by Columbus) was suitably indulgent and real value for money. Highly recommended. Will definitely return.

Never again

By SmithDrKat |

This was my first and last time dining at Haywire. I arrived and got in line for the valet and he looked in my direction and one of them moved the car in front of me to park it. A keep pulled n ahead of the line and the valet went to him after I had waited patiently for about 7 minutes. So I left my at and gave him the keys and told him he overlooked me. Even though I still tipped him. Then we get seated at the bar and ordered around 6:10 after about 45 minutes we inquired about our SALADS!!!! We were told that the manager was adding a 911 on the order so after a total of an hour our food arrives and one of the orders - blackened fish- was cold and half shredded. We sent it back and after about 10 minutes a fresh order came and they comped. However trying to get a water or anything was very difficult.

Great service, great food and atmosphere.

By Greg |

The service terrific, thanks Tanner! The food excellent and the atmosphere wonderful. We had the Elk mini tacos as an appetizer, the Bison for dinner and the chipotle chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. The tacos were delicious and a great starter. We both had the Bison with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. All I can say was the Bison was incredibly delicious and tender. We closed with the chipotle chocolate layer cake, a huge piece with a side of vanilla ice cream. The cake had a mild chipotle kick but was a chocolate lover’s delight. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff friendly. Everything you look for in a great restaurant!

Brunch at Haywire

By CocoShirelle |

Came here yesterday for brunch with sister and cousin. Had a reservation and was immediately seated although my other guests were a little late. After about 30 min, no one had come to our table yet..to get a drink order, give us water, nothing, so I went back to the hostess to let them know and they promptly sent a waiter, Reed, to out table, who though took our order forgot to put in, so we had to wait longer, he was nice and very apologetic. The manager, Miguel, also came by and apologized for our wait and comped us aappetizers, which w.as delicious. My cousin ordered chicken and waffles, that she said was too salty and greasy. I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes, both were good but my green beans were undercooked. My sister had the blackened fish with gulf shrimp with balsamic rice and she loved it!! We also had the mimosa flight, which was really good as well. Overall a nice place, wait was a bother, but staff made up for it. I will be back.

Perfect interior design and perfect food!

Excellent place to eat

By susanmissions36 |

Atmosphere, customer service, the food and the drinks….It was all very very good. We showed up an hour late for our reservation due to an accident, and they did not even bat an eye, and thanked me for calling them. My filet was perfect and seasoned well, the cheeseboard was very good and generous, and the drinks had the right balance. I was not disappointed and I’d give them 10 stars. You should definitely try them out when your in town.

Top 5 restaurant

Dining Between Downtown and Uptown.

By Conrad M |

We’ve been several times as a couple, with friends, and with a large family party. They have very good service every time. Both indoor and patio dining. I always get their Fried Green Tomatoes. Moderate plus prices. Valet parking at front door is very convenient.

Good - nice atmosphere.

By Doug D |

Had the onion rings - very large rings panko breaded - good. Cobb salad good, grilled chicken had nice flavor but a bit dry. chicken fried steak heavily breaded - crisp, but prefer a lighter breading. green beans and mashed good. White jalapeño cream gravy very good. Greg, our server was excellent. Hostess tried to initially seat us in the hotbox patio even though restaurant was empty, but willingly moved us to air conditioning!

Dinner date before symphony concert at the Meyerson

By Christine G |

This place is great!!! The service is attentive and quick and the food is very delicious. Had the “Chef’s favorite 4” as a starter and our entrees were the filet with grilled asparagus. Fantastic!! The steak was tender and a perfect medium rare. The atmosphere is very inviting. Would most definitely recommend. Enjoy!!

First time visit — we’ll be back

By Conrad M |

We had a great meal on our first experience. We will return. It’s expensive. Out bill including a generous tip and a $95 bottle of wine (they costs $37 at Costco) was $250. I thought it was worth it. Appetizers (fried okra and fried green tomatoes) were very good. The beef was prime quality. Bread pudding desert topped a great meal.
