New "Old Kensington"

By Jimrad |

I can see why Helm has gotten such great reviews. We lucked out and grabbed a table on a Friday night due to a cancellation - their loss! (All the tables were full during the time we were there.) The chalk board menu changes so often that I don’t know if it’s worth telling you what we had but: the Carrot, Chèvre, Basquaise was probably the best of the 3 appetizers that we tried, with the other 2, Cucumber, Clam, Tzatziki and the Zucchini, Feta, Trout Roe, all being exceptionally good. Our entrees were the perfectly cooked Duck with Fava Beans and the delicious Arctic Char, Cipollini and Chickpeas. The room is plain and comfortable but as most Philly restaurants, on the loud-side. The staff is well informed and I believe the Chefs were the ones that were bringing the entrees to the table and explaining them. With the above, including tax & tip, the bill came to around $100 – a great value for the high quality of food we enjoyed. (Remember – it’s a BYO.) We will definitely return.

Unique Place, tough choices

By Andrea H |

Food was unique and delicious. The chalkboard menu was hard to read and didn't really give you much of an idea as to what the meal would be like. Ask the waiter for suggestions. Don't forget to BYOB as everyone else will. We shared a mozzarella appetizer and then I had the lamb and my companion had the cod. Desserts and bread are amazing. I got a blueberry tart and he had a custard.

Good food

By Hurl_Grey |

We went here because the food was supposed to be good, and it was! The whole menu looked good, can't wait to go back. I had the duck which was good and we shared some ravioli. Both were really good.

Eclectic menu

We enjoyed our second visit to Helm BYOB restaurant in Fishtown philly. Creative menu. Small plate and entrees.

Great find

By ColoradoTraveler1120 |

Upon arriving in Philly to visit our adult son, we headed to Helm late on a Friday night. What a good and fun find. The menu is so creative. And all of the dishes were superbly prepared. My wife and I Sokutions a number of small dishes. The brussel sprout dish and a carrot dish deserve particular mention. Our son had the lamp entree which was so good. And the service could not have been more friendly and informative. Five stars.

Great little BYO just north of Girard on 5th St. We've been a few times and its always different but always good.

Creative and Delicious

By stacia v |

This restaurant will not disappoint--ambiance, service and most importantly, food are all on point. As a vegan, I usually call ahead to give the kitchen a heads up but someone else made the reservation for our group. When I let our server know about my diet, the manager came over and said that this was not a problem. The creative chefs prepared an appetizer, entree and even a dessert for me using the fantastic local produce. I can only imagine what they could have prepared had I given them more notice. I look forward to finding out!!! With each course, our server and some instances, the chef/owner, explained the ingredients on the plate. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal from start to finish. You will not be disappointed.

High end food, casual dining

By PelleasPhiladelphia |

This is really great high end cooking for those who love creative preparations that highlight the ingredients. A very casual restaurant: menu on chalkboard and BYOB (which helps make it much more affordable). About 6 entrees and 6 apps. The asparagus on a ramp purée was fantastic, squid was strong but less surprising. For entrees the pork loin was great but the chicken was the real surprise (I am not one to order chicken out but the waiter was right with his suggestion). The foie gras/bean side is a must try. Salt levels are bold, but worked for us. Service was A+ throughout. Great addition to philly's byob scene.

Novel restaurant in a part of Philadelphia being reborn

By David B |

Blackboard menu. Choices were not numerous but were intriguing. Waitress talked us through it. Swordfish-nectarine appetizer great. For main dish we chose the cod which was excellent. Pleasant understated atmosphere. Good service. We felt fortunate to have found it and enjoyed ourselves.

F2T Baby

By Garett S |

There are plenty of restaurants in Philadelphia who boast local sourcing of food, organic and fresh ingredients, and seasonal ingredients. Helm takes the farm to table cake. The unique plates include creative dishes concocted from just a handful of ingredients in each dish. Yet each dish, despite its simplicity, is packed with fresh flavor and happy thoughts. Items we loved included burrata, kale and steak, duck ravioli, and gateau Basque. But no matter what I recommend, it may not be there when you go on a different night, because the ingredients change that often. So my recommendation is, go with a few people, and order most of the menu. You will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and the food doesn't miss a beat. A great addition to the expanding Fishtown/Kensington food scene. Food quality: A Service: A- Atmosphere: A- Water test: A-

I say it again

By Ronald K |

The food is superb, so is the service. The noise is awful. Once again I found when the food started coming, starting indeed with the bread and butter, you don't have to hear what your partner 18" away is saying, just sink into the deliciousness in front of you. We had a great slab of red cabbage with fabulous calamari to cut through it, and then I had the lamb: half lovely slices of perfect roast meat and half a lamb ragu, not over pasta, but over a puree of something wonderful. Dessert was a lemon curd with condiments and sublime.

Outstanding food and service

By Scott Y |

The title says it all. This is our new favorite restaurant. Really, everything we had was excellent. Thus hidden gem has great small plates and larger plates. The food is locally sourced and the servicell is exellent.

Amazing.... WOW.....

Favorite BYOB - farm to table restaurant ever.... The chef's here create unique - original - delicious dishes with combinations of ingredients and flavors no one ever knew would work so spectacularly together.... The are true artists!

Wonderful BYO

By MaryleeJam |

Intimate restaurant with an eclectic (daily changing) menu with wonderful options. Fresh local farm to table seasonal items are used to create a very special and different menu. All choices are on a chalkboard and thoroughly explained by the knowledgeable wait staff. Highly recommend

Great farm to table, unique & special food

By travelingwannabe13 |

First off- YES you should go; DON'T worry about the location (borderline So. Kensington). You're in for a treat. A small, rustic style restaurant that takes pride in locally sourced food and produce. NEED a reservation. BYOB a big plus! The menu is on their chalk board. Don't worry if you can't see so well because the waitstaff will review the whole menu with you. Great to share with your guest so you can try as much of the food as possible. I started with the mussels- great but the broth was a bit too salty. The broth went very well with the bread (OK to ask for more bread!) I loved the pork loin; the cod was excellent. If you're a vegetarian, you will have options to choose from. Highly recommend this place to dine- They clearly love what they do and it shows.

Birthday Celebration Dinner

By Andermeer |

Our family celebrated a multigenerational birthday celebration on a Saturday night. This is a byob farm to table restaurant in a casual neighborhood setting. Menu selections are on the blackboard but since this was our first visit we went with the recommended family style servings - chef's choice. And boy were we glad we did! Each course and selection was wonderful! We will return again and again and again!!

Love the Food. Love the Vibe. Will Return!

By JWSPhiladelphia |

If you think you would never say "OMG I just love those carrots" you are wrong. Go to Helm and order their Carrot, Chèvre, Basquaise. That was my favorite but everything was superb. The service was outstanding. The dishes are unusual and our waitress patiently provided great descriptions. We shared 1 entree and 4 smaller plates and shared dessert. This was a perfect amount of food and very reasonable for such high end creations. The restaurant has a great vibe.

Fabulous Farm-to-Table BYOB!

By Paul S |

Wonderful to find great, young, artistic chefs breaking out with something nice and different such as Helm. Helm is relatively small (40 diners or so), and quite casual, but there is nothing casual about their cuisine or the seriousness of the effort made in that tiny kitchen. With an eclectic cuisine, it may be difficult to pick just one wine, so go with a group and bring several! And don't wait!

Really great meal and awesome service

By bmanpennsylvania |

We live in the Philadelphia area and often venture into the city for dinner. This one has been "on the list" to try for quite some time. I'm sorry that we waited so long. Menu is small but not too small. Dishes are creative but not too creative. Service is exceptional. And the food is just fabulous. The menu changes regularly so we will be back -- soon!

best restaurant in Philly

By giolibertino |

We just came back from an unfortunate dinner at Helm and I have to say ... even after a an unfortunate experience, it is still the best restaurant in Philly. My wife and I eat out quite a lot and have been to many of the city's (and there are many) great restaurants, but nothing compares overall to the way these guys think and command a kitchen. You can get a lot of excellent food in this city, but none of the restaurants can really maintain the level of excellence and still compete creatively with what they do at Helm. You can sense the passion and knowledge for cooking just by walking, looking at the menu (which changes regularly so there are almost no real set items) and inhaling the aromas coming out of the kitchen. These guys not only know how to cook, but to create. Most of the time, the combinations they come up with are amazing. The amount of conceptual effort and time they put into cooking neither begins nor ends in the kitchen. Many of the menu items involve complex processes of smoking, fermenting, aging, braising, etc. that all takes place days (or weeks) before you ever order your food. There is a good deal of experimentation (sometimes they even let you as the diner in on it) so not every single dish is on the same level, but if you want food that you can't get anywhere else in the city (or the world for that matter), you have to be willing to take some degree of risk as a diner as well. Even when one dish may not be as extraordinary as another, they are still so well cooked that it is hard not to appreciate them anyway, Where other restaurants get fussy and pretentious, Helm stays true to the food and the ingredients. Ingredients are always exquisitely fresh and, to a large extent, are what influence the menu ... the experience is almost like a merger between what are the freshest ingredients and the chefs' knowledge of how to put them together in the most interesting and delicious way (very unlike places like Laurel, where the recipes seem like pretentious ways to combine odd ingredients that do not often work well together). The last dinner we started out with some great dishes ... an octopus that was perfectly grilled (not always easy to do) and wonderfully paired with a mixture of accompaniments, some Middle Eastern meatballs that were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had the misfortune of arriving on a night where they were down a line-chef so my wife got an under cooked and then an oversalted dish, but the restaurant completely took care of us. Even despite this our experience was good - these things can happen at any restaurant and I think the mark of a truly good one is that, even despite this, our overall experience remained a positive one. Though it is not cheap, considering the level of quality and creativity, compared to many other restaurants in the city, the price is actually quite reasonable. Kudos to the chefs who make all this possible for us average people. I look forward to my next trip with unabated anticipation.

NEIGHBORHOOD GEM

By Keffco |

This is one of those places you want to be careful not to share too much or soon you won't get in or they raise prices so high, you can't afford to go. Small 30 seat place north of Girard, easy to park. Nothing fancy, just tables and linen napkins. Cutlery bit mismatched, menu on a blackboard in artsy style but hard to read but half the fun is to share the enthusiasm of the wait staff describing each dish as though it was a work of art. AND IT IS. We had root vegetables as starter. Fall's finest beets, turnips, carrots roasted on top of a dirty duck base. Say no more. What a dish. Glazed carrots, cold, starter as well, different but not our fav. Then steak for one and pork for other main, both excellent, luscious sauces. Reserve early BYOB. Excellent, attentive service. Open Table. We had an appetizer of root vegetables on a dirty duck broth. Koi Oh my. Wonderful. Also braised carrots, chilled dish. Root

Exquisite

By Ronald K |

This was some of the greatest food I’ve had anywhere, let alone Philadelphia. My hors d'oeuvres were exquisite tiny round slices of veal with peppers and onions, and also a dish of purple carrots in some phenomenal sauce. They were, both veal and carrot dishes, a magnificent joy to eat. My main dish was lamb with a green bean side and some yogurt dressing. Something was said in there about curry, but not that I detected it. It was spectacular, and like the greatest dishes, it wasn’t just delicious to taste, but also to chew and devour: the texture of the food no less than the flavors was a superb pleasure. Unfortunately, the din inside was nearly intolerable. You have to gesture to your dinner companion for communication. I would have said it was intolerable and impossible, and so escape and leave, until I had the first bite. This place has heavenly food worth the extreme discomfort of noise.

Disappointing...

By karenrose314 |

A friend and I were at Helm early last Saturday, only ones there for awhile. Pretty tho small place, pleasant staff and BYOB. Main problem with all menu items is way too many ingredients/flavors competing in everything. I had mussels in a hodgepodge of veggies, sauce, but no mussels could actually be TASTED, just a bowl of warm stuff and no distinct flavor. My strip steak arrived....too rare and already sliced up. It wasn't cooked enough to be tender, and had a line of grizzle that I couldn't cut thru. Not good at all. The apple tart dessert was also disappointing.....apples tasted like vinegar, no apple or spice flavors at all and lackluster whipped cream. My homemade is better. Overall, food was disappointing. I went home and had a grilled cheese! Won't be returning.

Could have been great

Just had a family meal here. Essentially was a tasting menu family style. Was really enjoyable. Giving it 4 stars because everything except dessert was too salty. Great ideas, great presentation, great service, but.... Would still recommend

Great dinner

By Neda S |

We had a delicious dinner at Helm on our way to D.C. All appetizers were nicely made. We were hungry so we ordered almost all their appetizers. Chicken and lamb on main course were great. Good service and friendly staff. Highly recommend it.

Wonderful BYOB with top notch food

By Pete P |

My wife and I went to Helm for a night out and had a wonderful time. The menu is a little confusing when looking online, but the waiter explains all of the dishes they are preparing that day. The menu is creative and the food flavorful and delicious. The food is also very reasonably priced especially compared to other Philadelphia establishments. If you have a free night, definitely try it out! You won't be disappointed!

So Delicious and Creative!

By MegNoMeg |

My friend and I were looking for something different and we found Helm. We each had three appetizer size dishes and each was a surprising, creative, very delicious combination of flavors. We loved everything!

Good food, fair prices.

By Eric F |

Good food and service. Marinated carrots were excellent with nice tasty sauce. Fried wontons were delicious and had a nice spice level. Lamb was tasty, but my cut of lamb was fatty and not a good cut. Bread was fresh and tasty with the sea salt butter. Deserts were all excellent. Prices were reasonable.

Off the Beaten Path & Worth Every Extra Step

By pookala |

A wonderful restaurant serving modern American cuisine that deserves all the accolades and praise it receives. My eating pal & I had an excellent meal recently that met and exceeded all expectations. It's a cozy casual no frills dining room with about 40(?) seats and a blackboard menu. Please be advised that the menu is limited (8 or 9 starters, 5-6 mains, 2 desserts) but the kitchen seems amenable to adjustments which will satisfy any food restrictions/allergies. Really, really picky eaters may have a problem & there's only so much a small kitchen can do especially on a busy weekend night. So take that into consideration when making your reservation. Plates featured fresh ingredients, creatively mixed tastes and textures, all executed skillfully. Our favorites were the charred green beans with foie and prosciutto and the pasta special main course. I loved the lamb entree as well; it was a hearty portion with perfectly cooked meat served with a piquant green curry sauce. We shared 3 starters, 2 entrees and and 2 desserts which was a lot of food. Most will be happy with 2 plates per guest. Our server was excellent & did a very good job in watching the table's wine consumption, clearing plates without rush and refilling water etc. Figure about $50 per person, it's a BYO, credit cards are accepted and it's a restaurant in a rapidly developing neighborhood so parking may be tight. You may want to taxi/Uber/Lyft, it's about a 10 to 15 minute ride from Center City but well worth the trip.

Great food

If you're looking for great food, this is the place. Everything on the ever changing menu is outstanding. Pricing is reasonable. It's BYOB Parking can be challenging, think CAB or UBER Don't skip dessert! It's a Philly treasur

The Welge Report

By sitesandbites |

Charming atmosphere with with an interesting clientele who were there for the food. Upon entering we saw another restaurant owner and one of his maitre d's who we had a brief conversation about what to order. We shared a squid with leeks and salsa verde for an appetizer. Then Dee had the chicken with spaghetti squash and I had the duck with kale and gouda. The service was excellent. We'll return soon

Limited But Adventurous Menu

By NHtoNC_11 |

Easy park on the street. BYOB. Husband had skirt steak which was very tender. Wife, who does not eat meat, was relegated to the one and only fish dish on the menu. It did not disappoint; however, a more varied menu would have been appreciated. Dessert of chocolate pudding was filling and delicious. Very chocolaty. Young servers are well-versed in explaining the menu and keeping the wine glasses full. Worth the visit.

Great BYOB in Northern Liberties

By S_NJAdventurer |

We have wanted to go to Helm for several years now and just never ventured into the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. This is an excellent restaurant. Its a BYOB, has great service, is very casual and supports a great farm to table menu. The menu itself changes regularly and is recorded on a blackboard. The wait staff explains each dish in detail which is very helpful. The main ingredients for dish are listed clearly on the blackboard. Everything we had was flavorful, had wonderful textures and was downright delicious. We are only aware of street parking but we did not have any trouble parking near the restaurant along 5th street. We will be back!

A Must Go To

By Jimrad |

I don’t know why it took us so long to return to Helm but we won’t make that mistake again. To avoid using the same terms over and over again to describe our meal, feel free to plug in any or all of the following to depict our experience: amazing, unique, unusual, beautiful, incredible, etc, etc. There are some items that appear to remain on the menu for longer periods, but the majority seem to change. So keeping the above terms in mind, we thoroughly enjoyed the following: Carrot – Chevre Basquaise Green Curry Pea Tortellini Nettle, Duck, Ricotta Ravioli Pork, Ryeberry, Jalapeno And for dessert, a shared Gateau Basque. Every item on the menu is described by the Host or a server. As last time, with tax & tip, the bill came to around $100, an incredibly small amount for an overwhelming meal. Because it is a small room, it can become quite loud but either come as early as you can to try to avoid it or maybe during the week. But in any case, this is a Must Not Miss Restaurant. Remember – it’s a BYO.

One of a kind

By RidingwithJim |

Wow. Tucked into a small space on the edge of Fishtown/Kensington is one of the best restaurants not just in Philly, but anywhere. This is hands-down the best execution of the farm-to-table movement that I've ever experienced. The chefs find the best local-sourced ingredients, and work their magic every night for dinner. The hours of shopping and prep that must go into this menu I can only imagine. The menu itself changes all the time, although it looks like there are some more-or-less standards - including the tender smoked carrots, served with a house-made chevre and basquaise sauce. The mix of salty and sweet, with a hint of smoke, is truly sublime. Possibly my favorite of all the dishes at Helm. Another delicious appetizer was a gorgeous house-pulled burrata enclosing a dollop of cream, corn and ramp center. My entrée was duck, prepared three ways, with a beautifully crisped breast with a pilsner malt sauce and a de-boned leg that just melted in my mouth. Finished off the meal with a spectacular gateau Basque filled with fresh local blueberries. Incredible. Service was friendly and professional. I definitely will be back.

Flavors burst in your mouth

By travelbubba |

Very creative dishes in a small very noisy space. The pork tenderloin with coffee ?rub and 18-hour cabbage was tender moist and full of flavor that aroused my tastebuds. I had the chicken with pilsner malt. Sliced breast crispy skin and so moist. The cooked heirloom with dark meat confit was the perfect accompaniment. For dessert the peach gateau was the piece de resistance even for a couple from the Peach State. Be warned though it is one of those byob places so common in Philadelphia. Bring a bottle of wine.

Nothing Average about Helm!

By Suzanne H |

I had a tough time giving a rating of Helm. Helm is a quaint casual BYOB restaurant with a blackboard menu. The food Is very creative with beautiful presentation! My struggle to rate Helm starts with my appreciation of the dishes being expertly prepared and the artistry in every dish. However, I felt there were dishes with so many ingredients that competed with one another. I ordered a beet appetizer with golden and red beets and rutabaga. The vegetables were Devine I wish the dish stopped there but they added cheese and it was served over an over salted duck ragu that over powered the vegetables and made the dish so filling, I shared the appetizer and we didn't finish it. I had cod for an entree which was nicely prepared over a delicate romesco sauce. my husband ordered the lamb 2 ways which was also delicious. Plan early as it is hard to get a reservation! Consider an early reservation as there is only street parking and the neighborhood is questionable.

Farm to oh what a great table

There are three Helm restaurants in Philly. Try them all!! Each a little different. All delicious. Fresh inventive food and friendly unpretentious service.

Cozy and Delicious

By MrsVanntastic |

My sister and I just had dinner here this evening. It is a small, quaint restaurant with no menus. Our server described all the choices in detail which became confusing after awhile. The carrots, ravioli and asparagus were amazing! My sister ordered the pork which was delicious but somewhat salty. I had the chicken with squash and collard greens and it was AMAZING! Dessert did not disappoint.

Worth a detour

By nasus59 |

One of Philadelphia's small places in an emerging neighborhood north of Center City with a couple of inspired chefs with really good farm to table food. A daily blackboard has a set of imaginative starters, mains and desserts, expertly described by wait staff who advise on the order. Also a BYOB with no corkage. Only downside, it is so popular, you have to reserve well in advance for a weekend slot.

Solid food, worst service I have ever experienced.

By Andrew K |

The Good: The food was impeccable, and our FIRST server (read more on this below), was friendly, polite, and funny, as well as being capable of describing the food in detail. The Bad: The service.... which may seem to contradict the above. Our reservation was for 6:15. All of us had arrived by 6:18, with two members of our party being early. We waited at least 10 mins to have someone take our orders for appetizers, at which point we asked for 5 mins to look at the menu. 20 minutes later, someone returned to take our entree orders. After our meals, we were asked for our dessert orders. All of these exchanges took place with our initial server (see above). After placing said orders, another individual told us they would be happy to comp us the dessert if we would take it to go, which didn't work, as I was having dinner with my family for the first time in many months, as I live out of the country, and wasn't staying with them. We were then told we had to leave (sans desert), except that we had to wait 12 mins for the check (in which time we could very easily have eaten our deserts). The restaurant also allowed the people who were waiting for our table to come over and make eye contact with each of us, checking how much wine was left in our bottle, before walking away, laughing out loud. This sort of behavior from guests would not have been an issue if restaurant management had seen it fit to pay someone to serve in the role of host/hostess, but they evidently chose to save money in this respect. My biggest issue, however, is the staff... or, perhaps, the situation management chose to put staff in. The first gentlemen who came over to inform us that we should be leaving told us that "management had thrown him under the bus" and "he was a messenger," showing a lack of professional discipline on the staff. After he came by, another server set down our silverware for dessert, before being informed, from above, that we would not be able to have dessert. He then apologized and took the silverware away. After he came by, another server gave us our check, without any apology or explanation. Throughout this time, our initial server was helping other customers in a friendly way, and never came by to apologize or interact with us again, after taking our order for dessert and likely initiating or receiving communication from management. I'm from Manhattan, and live in the Caribbean, and have never run into service like this anywhere, despite eating at what I'd call some of the most pretentious restaurants in the world. The fact that it happened at a small place in Philly with a good local vibe is absurd. After he came by, another server set down our silverware for dessert, before being informed, from above, that we would not be able to have dessert. He then apologized and took the silverware away.

First, but not last time!

By 1francophile |

I had a wonderful evening at Helm recently because of the fine attentive service and the small, but quality crafted menu that sources local ingredients. The appetizers were served family style so we all them could enjoy them. There were two fish and one potato filled starters that were very good. The entrees, from my pork dish to my friends two fish entrees were presented by the chefs, were creative and tasty. We shared a peach dessert that was flavorful, but too sweet. The food was priced fairly with ample portions. It was almost a complete success and a near perfect experience, except, the food was a tad salty for my taste. My suggestion is tone down the salt a bit for a more perfect balance of flavors and taste. Highly Recommended!

Summer Outing with Friends

By Danielle S |

EXCELLENT!!! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I had to eat gluten-free and dairy-free and they were very accommodating. I had a wide range to choose from and no flavors were lost, let me tell you. The staff and chef were very nice to take my food restrictions into account. It was delicious. I got the roasted tomato appetizer and the lamb with sausage for my dinner - fantastic. They know how to treat food here. Chicken is moist, lamb is perfect, monk fish is wonderful. This place is BYOB so be sure to bring a nice bottle of wine to pair with your dinner. The seating is cozy, you feel like you are in someone's living room. The staff is friendly. The menu is seasonal and subject to change but there are a few staple items. It's a great place for couples and small groups of friends. They do offer a tasting menu for larger groups. If you are a foodie, come try Helm!

MAKE YOUR RESERVATION, TODAY!!!

It's a small place...nothing fancy...and, yes, it does get noisy, in there...but, it's easy to overlook these minor issues...because THE FOOD IS AMAAAAAAZING!!! A black board menu is described in detail by your server. We started off by sharing several appetizers. Instantly, we realized there are some VERY talented chefs in the kitchen. The creativity, the melding of ingredients & flavors, the presentation, etc. were over-the-top. Likewise, we raved about our entrees and desserts. The entire meal, from stat to finish, was phenomenal. Go & enjoy! And, remember to BYO.

What a wonderful way to celebrate a loved one. This is a BYOB that has friendly staff and amazing food. While this place is off the beaten path it is a must! Plenty for all cuisines.

Everything was delicious!

Four of us ordered different itemas and shared all of the items on the 3 course tasting menu. Every dish was unique and delicious. The price point was affordable and the portions were good. The server thorougly describe each item, was friendly and attentative. I would definitely come back.

The most creative use of ingredients

By Golfdick |

Spending the night in Philadelphia to combat cabin fever and we chose to dine here and were blown away . I will say that their execution of farm to table should not be missed. What they have done with simple staple components and then layer on with other ingredients was most inventive. The only other restaurant who is this inventive that I have dined at is Little Moirs Fish Shack in Jupiter Fla and they do it with seafood. Two of us , we split 4 apps: Carrots Root vegetables Ravioli Brussel sprouts All done with imagination and executed flawlessly Simple items done perfectly For our entree we split a pasta dish using tortellini. Again simple main component layer with taste Finished with the Apple gateau a home run This meal could not have been delivered with out a top notch professional crew which they are. Our server was Jasmine who went over and beyond in her efforts to ensure a fantastic dining experience . By the way went home via Uber ( first time ) and receive a free trip. All in all a memorable dining experience.

No one at the Helm...

By Jenna P |

Second visit was a fail across the board! Hostess, on her iPad the entire time, reseated us because we were at the wrong table. No finesse. No apologies. Octopus and Fargo apps plating was unimpressive. Disappointing to look at the TINY portions on the plate edge. Underwhelming taste. Lamb two ways, again oddly plated on 2 dishes, wasn't anything special. One was over salted and one was under seasoned. Monkfish topped with a nasty garlic sauce. Fail on the taste front. Our waitress was confused on the gluten & diary intolerance requests. Maybe because the hostess brought us bread and butter after we ordered Disappointed across all fronts, especially after our first fabulous meal. Bummer dinner for 2 people- $100 with no drinks. Sigh

Best dinner in months

By Mark H |

Coming from the culinary wonderland of the Bay Area, it is always awesome to be surprised by a new dining experience out of state. Helm provided one of those experiences. The menu was creative and unexpected (it changes every day), beautifully conceived and executed. All 3 of my companions (New Yorkers) agreed it was one of our best meals in memory. Definitely a must-visit if you appreciate a solid authentic 5 star dinner in a casual inviting atmosphere (its BYOB too).

Can't wait to go back

By Carolina G |

Helm was recommended to us by friends who had booked through Seated so we knew it was going to be great, however, the experience completely exceeded our expectations! Chalk board menu with changing courses was super cute. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all of the dishes. The combinations of flavors on classics like lamb, mushroom ravioli etc was unlike any other we have ever had. Home made salted butter for the bread was also a perfect tasty touch. Can't wait to return to this unique BYOB and bring family from outside the city!
