I go to Hero's a least once a month with some friends, and it is the best food I have all month. Get the Hero's Tontaksu Ramen if you want to start out with something really good and are new to Hero's. The Takoraki and Karage sides are my favorites as well.

Came her one evening for Ramen… tried a few other items from their menu at the same time. They have an odd way of ordering, as you have to wait (since it was crazy busy when we arrived) for a table to be open and then you order and pay (with a tip) at a cashier and then she takes you to your table… for all the effort and especially since they give full service after this – why don’t htye just make this a normal restaurant with table service!?!?!????? I can honestly say, their Miso Ramen was outstanding! Great flavor and freshly made with nice, fresh ingredients. Their appetizers are pretty nicely done too… from the chicken to the shrimp. Overall, I like the food! They even have a candy/snack section with authentic, imported items. They also have a nice selection of Saki’s in their fridge too.

I'm half-Japanese, born and raised in LA in an area with a lot of Japanese people (both multi-generational in LA as well as 1st generation from Japan). I'd like to think that I'm accustomed to a fairly high level of ramen quality. Ramen used to be on the list of foods that I had to get when I was back in LA...given that I had not found any decent ramen shops during my time in Texas. That is now changed. Now that I've found the ramen at Hero's, I can happily say that ramen is no longer on the list of foods that I have to get when back in LA. If you're looking for a high level of quality and authentic Japanese ramen, your search is over. [Have now visited twice. Buddy who was stationed in Japan for 2-3 years agrees with my assessment] SUGGESTIONS (for which I can personally vouch): -Spicy Miso Ramen (a subtle spicy that is delicious and will not kill) -Chicken Karaage (very good) -Seaweed Salad (well...this can be had anywhere) OTHER NOTES: -Sushi: I understand that their sushi is also good. I must give them a try as I have yet to find a decent sushi place in SA (rice is always off) -tonkatsu (pork cutlet): was unimpressed, especially given the price. With so many other delicious things available, don't waste food-inventory-slots with this one unless they improve it.
Brand new Japanese restaurant with excellent ramen
Our Japanese masseuse at Azalea Spa nearby recommended Hero's Ramen. This is a brand new restaurant, open only a month. The spicy tonkotsu ramen was excellent, particularly the flavorful broth--although the dish was not spicy, even with the added fireball. They are starting to add appetizers, so we asked for spicy edamame which they had never made before but was flavorful. Prices were very reasonable. They also have a small sushi menu but we only had the ramen. We would definitely return.
