Nice little place

By David A |

Had a great time at the Hideaway. Staff very friendly. Food is excellent. Not a regular burger bar, but a bit unique.

Sunday brunch

By JOHN D |

This restaurant could be good. The menu and all looks great...but....food was luke warm at best. Coffee was put and had to wait 20 min for a cup. Really understaffed and in my opinion bad management. Food tastes good but just cold. This was true of all eight of us. Lastly, you have to order at the counter and they want the tip then, before you receive service, food,or drink. May want to pass on this gem and try something else.

Great Find

By William V |

Sweetie and I made it to be he hotel in Austin, TX and got settled in about 7:30 p.m.on Friday nite. I was hungry and headed out to find something decent to eat. I saw the Hideaway but missed the driveway in my first pass. I went down the I-35 frontage road a few more miles but didn't find any other place. I turned around and made it to the Hideaway. When I walked in, it was a bit different....lots of red booths. I sat at a table and I ordered a drink. While I was waiting, I checked out some reviews and they were great. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. They came in a nice time and were both nice and hot. This was the first time I had bacon onion jam and it tasted like....more!! Delicious. The burger was perfectly cooked and the fries were delicious. The price was fair for the food and my drink. Loved the place, but it had rained while I was eating and I got my running shoes soaked getting in my car. All in all, a great experience.

Amazing food and service

By Simeon K |

Everything we tried was absolutely done to perfection. Great service with a southern hospitality and a bit of subtle himor made the visits very enjoyable.

Awesome food, amazing staff

By laughinglady |

We stayed at the Ramada beside the Hideaway Kitchen in June 2018. We ate at Hideaway twice a day and absolutely loved everything we tried from the açai bowl, to the chicken and waffles. My favourites were the avacado blt and the brownie (omg good). The drinks menu was also excellent. Best of all were the staff, they were absolutely lovely. And the atmosphere is perfect. We wish we had a Hideaway Kitchen here in Ottawa. We’re planning to head back to Austin this spring and look forward to returning many times to Hideaway Kitchen. Highly recommended.

A real find

By Tony P |

This place was great. The food was really good. The fried chicken in ciabatta was very good and the onion rings were excellent. The steak was super and cooked to perfection. The mixed greens salad was fabulous. Staff were great.

What is sleeper!

By Amanda T |

This place is so not sexy on the outside, but I came here twice in two days because it was so excellent! It overlooks the interstate, which is definitely not an “up-side“… But the food is interesting, great quality, and extremely affordable. If I lived here, I would come regularly.

Yum !

By Cavete Draco |

Good food, gold folks, good bar, good music, and they serve your dog a iced bowl of water fit for a Queen, or King !

AMAZING

By Brie Valentino |

The short rib was absolutely amazing. It fell apart as you ate it. I just wish it was a little less fatty. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and man that was also amazing. We also got cocktails as well. They were well made. My short rib came with veggies and potatoes on a skillet that was sizzling. I enjoyed my meal and I would return on my next trip DEFINITELY :)

Forget eating here...

By Ray A |

This bar restaurant is attached to the Ramada in on I35 . There is areasonable bar area, but the restaurant is very poor, little choice, with some very dubious options, such as devilled eggs as a main!! I woild not recommend this place for eating, didnt even bother looking for breakfast.

What a great find!

By JohnJovi |

Fantastic place right off I35 a bit south of downtown...nestled between a few Marriott hotels and a Ramada Inn. Great bar. And, the appetizers / food are amazing. Really cool ambiance.

Nice

By Caila Miceli |

The food was good and since we went during happy hour, we drank twice as much! Waiter was super friendly and gave us an entire list of places to hit while in Austin.

Really good breakfast!

By KatieDafuq |

We had breakfast here three times during our past trip and I would recommend 100%. I tried the Hideaway Breakfast twice and the peacan pancakes once ... so, so good.

Dinner

By Grunk69 |

Very different and unique place to eat - food and service was good - they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“Living the Dream”

By motorhead01 |

We found this gem by its convenience to the Ramada Airport. So thankful when chance gives you a winner. My wife and I were jet lagged having just landed from our trip to the South of France. So weren’t up for exploring the city. Walking next door we find this casual bar or restaurant with up dated decor. The chef may just greet you warmly and respond by advising he’s “Living the Dream”. I really like what’s happening in the USA food scene where people are pursuing their passion and delivering a superior performance. Having just traveled through the South of France expecting several Michelin starred restaurants I think we’ve got a similar thing going on here. Passion for food, priority on ingredient quality and creativity. Some examples, peppered bacon as your side for breakfast. How about vegetable hash for breakfast. This is large enough for two, so come hungry. What greets you is a medley of grilled peppers, carrots, potatoes, and the best Brussels sprouts you’ll find. If you like passionate chefs with individuality then don’t miss this one

It's next to hotel ..so you would think its one of those places but...

By Divebabydive |

Surprised that's it's good. This is a self order place but food selection and service were great. I had the cornbread with waffles. Which I enjoyed. They also gave us sample of pecan waffle which was amazing

Avoid this place unless you need to use the restroom.

If your business model is to just attract hotel patrons you'll serve once, it still doesn't make sense to have service this terrible. I met friends here who were staying at a hotel in walking distance. I sat down after they ordered. Their food arrived and apparently the "waitress" didn't see me or just could not care less. She didn't say a word to me. I had to call her back as she walked away to ask for a menu. She didn't ask if I needed a drink, because that's how you prove you don't care. Also, let's take a moment to describe the atmosphere here. If you like feeling like an IKEA clearance section exploded in an old Taco Bell, you're gonna LOVE IT HERE. So I did get a menu and completely ignored after that. My friends had to tell the other "waitress" they never got their drinks and she just looked so put out. Christ, sorry we ordered here. I know it's totally inconvenient for you to just give people what they are trying to pay you for. I asked if I could put an order in and was told I could use the app or walk over to the counter and put it in. In other words, F off. So I sat at the table with no food, no drink, no service. This place is a model for how to not run a business. I'm trying to order eggs, not a shuttle launch. I wouldn't eat there if you paid me. Mind you, this happened on a weekday at 11:30 when there was one other table seated. The impression I got of this place is that lazy, stupid people don't really care if you just go away. I will laugh when I drive by to see this place is closed.

Excellent Food and Service

By Deborah H |

My husband and I were staying at the hotel near here and came in for dinner and breakfast. The food was excellent. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic and well as the chicken sandwich that I had. The service was excellent, the waiter, I don't remember his name but he has a mustache and beard, was so nice and helpful, and the service he provided was great. The next morning I had a peach pie pancake and wow that was delicious. I couldn't even finish one but it was so good! If I'm ever in the area I would definitely come back.

Good option in the neighborhood

By Pibe76 |

Austin is a city that offers a lot of differnt options, in certain neighborhoods. In this case, Hideaway is a great option with not many competitors around. Food is good, the hamburger was well cooked, great beer. The ambiance is not as charming or attractive as other places, but it serves the purpose. If you are staying around that area is a very good place to visit.

Ate here twice - breakfast & dinner

By dbult |

First, I'm not crazy about this whole online/app order business but that being said...food was very good taste-wise, staff was very friendly and portions were actually quite large. I'm not sure the online pictures do the dish justice (as they look too small). Yes, the prices seem a bit high but for the quantity of food I think the overall value was good. I will be returning some day to try other dishes.

Excellent Food

By Gina B |

They have excellent Hamburgers, Onion Rings, and Brussel Sprouts. Very enjoyable atmosphere and great service.

Quality Food &Ambiance

By JDSoui |

Both the food and the style/ambiance of the restaurant was fabulous. The service was attentive and dishes had a unique and flavorful taste. The salmon, wild rice and Brussels Sprouts were amazing.

Easy / good choice for Marriott guests

By Dr Stephen |

Marriott has x4 hotels in a row here, as as well as Quality Inn and the Ramada the other side. Hideaway is easy walking distance for all six. It has x4 draft craft beers as well as a great choice of interesting cocktails. The food is good too - my wife had Caesar salad and I had the vegetable quinoa curry. Both were very good. There is discrete TV in the bar area showing sports and documentary content. A big surprise to find a bar restaurant as good as this in this part of town. PS The Iron Maiden art on the wall (see photograph) just added to our experience - we love the band!

Relaxing vibe; food fit for an English pub.

By chobbsey |

Elected to have dinner sitting at the bar. 'Madeline', the bartender (great, memorable name!) poured excellent drinks and was both charming and attentive. The food was prepared with more creativity than I anticipated - a nice bonus! I'll definitely come back when in town!

Yummy! Comfort food with a twist

By RocKOnamy |

The food is fantastic! Highly recommend! Comfort food with a twist. Was surprised to find it as part of a hotel, but has nice ambience. Enjoyed the wings, steak frites and chicken and sweet potato waffles delish!

Hideaway “Gem”

By jmcdmcd |

Found this gem due to its south Austin location.......staying often in this are for business, it is nice finding a meal that is not from a chain!

Only if you’re desperate not to drive elsewhere

By Geoffrey E |

I don’t understand the high level awarded here. You have to order on an app, service is sub-par to indifferent. Even though the app ordering ensures that you modify explicitly, our orders had errors. Both from the bar and the kitchen. Food was ok, but not more. Add-on portions were tiny: mushrooms on my burger amounted to three slices for $0.50. Picture is of my partner’s sour cream extra, also for $0.50, but really? Was this leftover from a previous patron? After ordering one margarita that was terribly weak, I ordered a double, only to find out that it was actually double the price, not an additional $2-5 as is usual, but double. Food and drinks are not worth the price. Service was very bad.

Garden frittata and skillet vegetable hash

By laurenvdv |

Food was awesome. But the wait was really long. Waited in line to order for a half hour and waited an hour for the food. We got the garden frittata and skillet vegetable hash. Both were delicious, but I prefer the fritters. We also ordered the crispy brussels. They were good but a bit overdone and over dressed.

Big breakfast; very kind employees

By Beth D |

My son and husband flew into Austin around 11am. We did a search for nearby brunch and Hideaway came up. We walked up to the big wooden wall looking for the entrance, then realized it was the door. The inside is kind of dark, but there are plenty of windows for natural light. We had the Hideaway and Big Biscuit Sandwich and it was very filling and only about $10 a plate. I would definitely recommend.

Lots of variety on the menu

By Katherine P |

Located within walking distance of the Marriott and several other hotels on I35. We walked over for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised with the variety on the menu. Started with some appetizers chips and Queso, deviled eggs and the pork belly sliders. The pork belly sliders are a must. The deviled eggs we just ok. They had this spicy and sweet sauce which gave it a odd taste. Queso was good and was a hefty portion, but the chips were crushed as if it was the crumbs from the bottom of the bag. For my entree I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were delicious. Chicken was cooked perfectly crispy but not too breaded and had a sweet sauce drizzled on it which complimented the waffles. I also tasted the pork shank it’s was very tasty and fell right off the bone. Looking at the menu and other photos on yelp makes me want to go back for breakfast.

Close to our hotel

By 290kelvinj |

Our Server Ben was great and provided us with some fine eats. The chicken and waffle (sweet potato) dinner with the sidecar was great. If I lived closer I would visit once a week. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal.

We’d go back

By Karen S |

I got the sweet potato-Brussel sprout hash, which was great and also plentiful (my husband and I could’ve split it). Husband ordered chicken and waffles- he said chicken was good but not impressed by the waffle. His milk was going bad but they were happy to replace it with orange juice. Overall we would go back.

Not a good experience.

By LetsGoAway70 |

Had really high hopes for this place but it fell flat quickly. The online menu looked very interesting and appealing. However you seat yourself, order and pay from the qr code on the table. I didn't like this experience because it forced me to tip before I experienced the service and the food. And it defaulted to 22% but could be changed. So we ordered. Food came out randomly and took a long time. We didn't have a server to ask questions. When they brought food out everyone was working like expo-- dropped it off and ran. Had to flag one down. Everyone's food was lukewarm to cold. Tortilla soup had driest chicken ever and it was in SOUP. Eggs Benedict were trash. Fries were cold. Onion rings we're more like strings and not as pictured. Water and soft drinks are self serve. Nowhere does it say this except in small print when you order and no one is reading that. A sign at the entry would help. We had to ask for straws, napkins, and silverware. No one brought it with our food. How are we gonna eat? Ordered a "Coke" from the menu and it is Maine Root Cola instead. That's false advertising. Won't be back. Very dissatisfied. The only good things were the cocktails.

Good breakfast.

By Katherine T |

We stayed at the Ramada next door for a recent trip to Austin. We had breakfast here one morning and it was really good. I had the Hideaway Breakfast, my husband had the Pigs in Zen breakfast tacos, and the kiddo had a pancake. It was all really good. I could eat potatoes with every meal, and the ones served with my plate were very good. We visited again one evening for cocktails and queso. It was really good as well. You can’t beat the convenience if you are staying in the Ramada or one of the other close hotels.

Great weekend brunch

By Tripp S |

I was surprised that this was a Ramada hotel restaurant/ bar. Great whiskey selection and good food. Crazy popular and good brunch on weekends.

Cute Resurant with Great Staff and Awesome Food!

By doodlebugkc |

While visiting Austin for a conference I had the good fortune of stumbling onto this place. I went in one afternoon to get some lunch/dinner after the conference was over for the day but before returning out for a company mixer. The lady at the register was very friendly and understanding of my exhausted and muddled state. She recommended the hideaway burger and a coffee. I got the burger with all the fixings and Onion Rings on the side. I also got a Cappuccino and she gave me some water while I waited. The burger was so delicious, a little messy, and made me very happy. We made preparations for me to pick up breakfast the next morning right when they opened. She was also working in the morning and wrote my order down so that her cook could start working on it first thing. I got the Chicken and Waffles, a personal favorite, and another Cappuccino. The next morning when I rolled in at 6:30 sharp, she was waiting for me with my food almost ready and my coffee ready to go. I had to take the food with me to the conference to make sure I wasn't late but when I got to eat it, boy was it worth the wait. The chicken was perfectly breaded and crispy, the waffle was perfectly cooked and still crispy, and the honey butter was a perfect compliment. I was so happy to have found this place so nicely located to my hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel was awful but this restaurant was great! The next morning I was flying out so I stopped by one last time for breakfast. I had the Peach Pie Pancakes. If anything could be described a heavenly that certainly could. It felt wrong and sinful to be eating something so delicious for breakfast but I enjoyed every single bite! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great place to eat in Austin.

Get find!

By jjeves |

You have to try the queso fries. They truly are mouth watering. We stayed at the hotel next to the Hideaway and were beyond surprised by the food. The best we’ve had in Texas so far.

So so breakfast.

By Bobby31225 |

Stopped in here while at the Ramada for breakfast. I ordered two pancakes. Really had to wait a long time to get my pancakes with something so easy to cook. There was only one other person in there to. Don't know what took so long?? The pancakes arrived and they were real thick and round! Had never seen pancakes like these before!!. Filled me up though before my flight.

Precooked food

By sket101 |

Even when ordering our food we could see the potatoes and bacon already cooked and waiting in the kitchen to serve. The restaurant was empty when we arrived so it wasn’t for other tables. We placed our orders at the counter and the food came out as quickly as you can cook an egg. We had to ask multiple times for butter, gravy, etc. The potatoes were cold, the bacon over cooked and my “healthy “ frittata had more cheese than eggs. The server was friendly but that can’t make up for the bad food.

Welcoming for the Weary Traveller

By Kari M |

It was a cold February night and I had spent the day interviewing and was exhausted. The ladies at the front desk of the Marriott suggested this restaurant which was within walking distance. Even though I was so tired, I bundled up and ventured out- it was well worth the trip! The atmosphere was quiet and inviting, but the service and the hamburger were sensational! I am so glad I ventured out- it was a wonderful dinner and I would absolutely recommend this place- they also have a wonderful wine selection-

Nice Brunch

By Edge038 |

Fun, eclectic vibe with a live musician (who was excellent). I had "The Big Biscuit" which was very good. We went there on a Sunday about 11am and managed to beat the lunch crowd which filled the place quickly.

Nice place

By Nana M |

The place looks and feels amazing. The food is just ok... we ordered basic food (sandwich) and they were ok nit great judt average no fries sandwich; but the service and the actual venue is amazing. We will come back!

1st night in Austin

By Patrick P |

Climate was very relaxing. Justine the bartender was friendly, professional and knew her drinks. The salmon dish was delicious. Driving up we were a little skeptical but it is well worth it.

Open Mic Night

By Tanya B |

Yes, this bar has Open Mic nights and live music I think depending on the night. Food and service was great too

Basic restaurant/bar. Decent food. Good location.

By GlenH1950 |

Dropped by for lunch. This is a basic restaurant (perhaps more of a bar). The food was good and the service was friendly.

Unexpected

By Jennifer H |

This was an unexpected find next to the Ramada Inn off of I 35. There are several hotels in this area that could utilize this restaurant. Spacious area for eating, outdoor seating, and a nice bar area. The staff is pleasant and breakfast was good.

AWESOME BRUNCH SPOT!

By Amanda L |

Awesome brunch spot tucked away off the I35 Service Road. Highly recommend the waffle flight for brunch! A friend and I split it together and it was plenty of deliciousness to share! There was 1 hair on one of the waffles, but I picked it off and was okay with continuing the meal. I was pleasantly surprised how good their cold brew was as well! It was as good, if not better, than your usual coffee spot. Definitely will be back soon!
