The Staff, food and wine were all top notch! The Staff consists of several "Industry" Professionals, some of Portland's best. . I enjoyed the Truffle Pierogi's, NW steamed Mussels and Kale Ceasar along with some delicious wine🍷

Jared was a delightful, spirited server during the hectic holidays. He offered the perfect appetizer pairing to accompany drinks with friends after work. Good times.

Ate at the High Horse! Delicious, and the staff were really friendly. Recommend the salmon, steak, and smash burger. The non-alcoholic drinks were quite original. Thank you Mason and Jared for making a special evening for my daughter and myself!

Nice spot in the Bidwell hotel. Modern and clean environment with comfortable seating. Service by Sofia was great and food was delicious.

We went here the first night of our five nights in Portland, and returned 3 more times because the food, drinks and overall experience was outstanding every time. Chef Ryan Mead prepared creative and delicious food, such as the duck confit flautas. Bartender Bradley was engaging but not intrusive. He offered two variations on the Negroni and, at our notice of the bottle of Green Chartreuse on the bar, introduced us to The Last Word. The ambience is contemporary, the food amazing (loved the chicken liver pate) and the service second to none! Oh, the burger was SO good—well seasoned, and served on buns from the Japanese bakery in town where Chef Ryan’s wife works!

Jared was very personable. Great service which included menu suggestions which were on point. 5 Stars exceeded expectations.

High Horse went beyond our expectations. Food was delicious and flavorful, the ambience fit the city vibe, but the star of the show was SOFIA! She was an absolute pleasure to interact with and one of the kindest souls we’ve encountered. She is so sweet and caring - if you’re in the city, I highly recommend you stop by and say hello to her!

The food is amazing and the service is top notch. Ask for Jared if you go he was very friendly and attentive to each party that was there.

Place had a good vibe but after that went down hill. Went to try their Christmas Day deal. There were two people working but place was not too busy (as evidenced by all the openings in open table). The pacing was super off for everything. Drinks didn’t come until after salad was served after we asked for them. Actual main course took over an hour and a half. Kept saying kitchen was backed up but everyone around us had their meals already. Prime rib had potential but was overcooked. Spouse’s fish overcooked beyond the pale and was tough and dry . Dessert (billed as a dark chocolate tart) looked like it came straight out of freezer and hard as a rock.

We stayed at the Bidwell and thought we might just have a lazy hotel dinner. We were in for a delicious surprise! They make fantastic cocktails here! The short rib pasta was amazing – had we not been in public, I would have licked that plate! We also gave the cucumber salad a try, so good. We will come back here for dinner.

We made a reservation for 6:30 PM on Christmas night. We arrived and the restaurant was 1/4 full. Our waitress was very nice but not super good about bringing drinks out timely. I ordered the halibut. It was $50. It was so overcooked I could not cut through it with a knife. I finally gave up and left 2/3 of it on the plate. The green beans were over cooked and soggy. It took 75 minutes for our food to arrive at the table from the time our order was put in. The server kept telling us, “your entrees are coming out soon” but they did not arrive. We were preparing to ask for the check and leave without eating when it finally came. My husband had the prime rib prix fixe meal. The prime rib was also so over cooked it was not edible. The server did not take any of our food off of the bill despite us not eating it. The bill was $162 with a 4 percent service charge. What a disappointment. We would not ever return. We had to ask for the bill at 90 minutes to get home. Marriot has a better reputation than this.

Oh what to say... My daughters lives in Portland, this was my first trip (post COVID) to this city. I stayed a different hotel, wished I would have stayed here. The Hotel is modern and beautiful!!! The Lobby and the restaurant was unfortunately the most i got to see; but i will definitely be coming back and staying at this location. The restaurant, oh lord it was fantastic. The food was delicious, we definitely had our fill, maybe a little to indulgent; but when in Rome, as they say. The drinks!!! Now, i wont say I'm a big drinker, but what a fantastic experience. The manager was very helpful and a delight to talk with. Jeremy, your social skills, charisma, professionalism, and customer service were, as my daughter said, "on point". You were absolutely a delight to help guide us with your craft cocktail experience and menu selections. Thank you for also mentioning that you do events, my daughters wedding is coming up and you mentioned that you have the ability to do private events with catering!!! That would be such a joy, we will be reaching out to you for either the reception or the dry run. Once again, Jeremy you are a gem, I appreciated everything you did. WE WILL BE BACK :) XO Dee dee

As travel begins to open up many favorites have been reinvented. We were staying at the renovated Marriott CIty Center, renamed the Bidwell and stopped in to the High Horse for a drink. Bartender Bradley pours beautiful drinks and we felt well-cared for.

The food was delicious and service was impeccable! Jared made me feel super welcome the second I walked in and was very attentive while I waited for my to-go order. Can’t wait to come back and try something new next time I’m in town for work!

During our business trip, we had the pleasure of staying at the Bidwell, which has the Hugh Horse restaurant on the 2nd floor. The food was incredible, all farm to table, coffee was so flavorful and the service was outstanding!

Jared was great and would recommend this place. Food was great and staff(Jared) was super attentive and we wanted for nothing.

Ok… Mason and Anna were seriously epic. Great drinks and even better conversation. This was one of the more epic drinking experiences I’ve had.

Hey Kelsey, Jared,Anthony and Angel did amazing job during Christian Eve. At one point service was busy and everyone handled it with grace and kindness. Kelsey was kind and very talkative to the point she felt like a friend 🧡 . Jared was so kind enough to help Kelsey and he was sweet as well. Anthony and Angel cooking was good. The wings and burgers were amazing and the Chimney Sweep was tasty. If you're in town they are the workers you want to serve you 🤣 -SWA

At the restaurant Jared our waiter was extremely excellent he was very quick and efficient, very kind and friendly.He made sure that we had everything we needed and that it was to our best liking, will definitely come back. the food was delicious and unique.

Wandered in off the street because Google said it was close and we were starving. Expectations for a hotel bar were not high, but we were incredibly impressed! Delicious food and outstanding service! One of our best Portland meals all week!

I’m usually skeptical about eating at hotels (personal bad experience) and the service itself usually lacks. From the moment I stepped off the elevator I was greeted with a great smile and awesome personality. I honestly think had he not addressed me the way he did I would have stayed. JARED,JARED,Jared. From the eye contact to make me feel comfortable for eating alone to his patience with food selection or maybe it was his awesome personality in general. My experience at HIGH HORSE will definitely keep me coming back and recommending to others. 10/10! I got the pan seared chicken with root veggies (25min wait because it’s made fresh!) I’m a happy camper🥰

Jared is an impeccable server, the digs are great as well. I'd recommend stopping by for a drink with friends or associates.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever experienced. The hotel is not a good environment as well. The management was not even aware of my dining experience and was rude when talking about the bad experience.

Stopped in to get a bit to eat and really enjoyed my experience! The service was wonderful! Very attentive and prompt. The leek tart was delicious! And a really good Bloody Mary! Would definitely suggest you stop by for brunch!

Stumbled upon this place while visiting Portland. I ordered hash and eggs with wheat toast. I have never eaten has prepared that way, so I was a bit surprised. It came with diced bell peppers, diced potato, onions, potato wedges, and short beef ribs. The beef was tender and flavorful, just not what I expected in a hash meal. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the wheat toast with blackberry jam was excellent. Very good service to boot.

We visited my parents who stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful lunch at the hotel restaurant High Horse. We were served by Heather (12/23/24) and she was so accommodating and kind. We had a large order and she took the time to confirm the order with us and brought everything to us into the M Lounge where we were sitting. Thank you Heather and the staff at Bidwell Marriott for helping us during the holidays!

Got a latte and played pool with family. Super cute space and great coffee. it was pretty empty and our server was sofia she was lovely and we had a great time! would you 100% come again.

We really enjoyed brunch. Ana was super attentive and accommodating! The service was fast and friendly. She brought me gluten free toast when I mentioned my wheat allergy ❤️

We ordered the wedge salad and smash burger and both were excellent! Our server Jared was very attentive and gave some good direction when we weren’t sure what to order. He was there when we needed him without hovering. Food was prepared perfectly.

I’ve now stayed at this hotel two times. It’s been such a wonderful experience. I recommend this place a higher than they allow. The high horse bar is fabulous, and the staff are very welcoming. The food is great drinks are killer. Also, Sofia was very friendly and made my morning. All in all you should definitely stay here. Also if you’re booking, don’t go through a third-party app. Call them directly for better rates.

Trust me when I say this place is unbelievably great! Jeremy made me the best cocktails I’ve had in Portland. He’s a magician and their cocktail menu is straight fire. I also tried almost the entire menu and literally everything tasted amazing. If you’re looking for creative cocktails and food that taste incredible, High Horse is a must!

Very slow service. Poor hospitality received wrong food. Company does little to nothing for your inconvenience. Would not stay here again.

From the moment I walked into the bar area I knew I was in for a treat. Ida Corr was belting it out, the basketball game I was hoping to watch was already on both screens, and laughter tickled my ears. I was greeted by a lovely server (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name!) and was was encouraged to take any open seat. CK and Jared welcomed me with open arms and made me feel right at home. What could have been a really lonely experience turned into the exact thing I needed that night. I definitely will be back the next time I’m in Portland. Thanks again!!

High Horse in The Bidwell offers outstanding food and well-crafted drinks in a friendly atmosphere. The menu is varied. We had exquisite bucatini and the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. The asparagus appetizer was inventive and, more important, delicious. Bradley, behind the bar, was knowledgeable about the beer and wine list and mixed a fine drink. This place is a must visit here in Portland!
