This is a great place with great service. It is important to note that it is pretty expensive ($16 drinks). However, that is to be expected with a 1st class location. The ambience is great, and the service was fantastic. This rooftop holds the best views of Venice Beach, and the surrounding LA area. We did have some food items which were quite good. Make a reservation in advance if you want to stay into the night. They boot people out of the tables once the reservation times arrive.

I had dinner and drinks here during my stay at Hotel Erwin and everything was great! I had the Mahi tacos and they were absolutely amazing! Loved watching the sunset and the music they played made it fun and relaxing.

The High Roof Deck is an awesome, awesome space. We grabbed drinks around sunset and had panoramic views of the coast and watched the sun set over the Malibu hills. There’s only one bar however. It gets very crowded quickly. I’d recommend ordering two drinks at a time.

Just a lovely little spot...perfect views of Venice and the ocean. Excellent food (on the pricey side, but to be expected in this location) and extremely friendly staff.

Sure, it's a regular bar with a typical menu and good drinks. But, being ON the beach in Venice to watch the sun set over Malibu is an absolutely amazing experience.

Since we finalised our trip, this was somewhere I was looking forward too and it certainly did not disappoint. From the start to the end everything was really good. The night we booked for was a bit chilly, so was a bit worried that the cold would spoil our evening but no need to worry as there are heaters and an added bonus... Blankets, such a nice touch. Food is reasonably priced, a little high but you are paying for the location, that said portion sizes are on the big side so all in all, good value for money (I'm talking UK portion size). I'm a vegetarian and thought that the menu contained enough choice. Lots of cocktails but we opted for wine and had a very nice Malbec, again reasonably priced. The service we had from the girl looking after us was exceptional, didn't catch here name but I know she is a native Latvian, she really looked after us and made she we had everything we needed. We got the the bar just as the sun was setting so it was absolutely beautiful. The view is just stunning so even if you don't manage to catch a sunset it is still worth a visit. The music was perfect for a relaxed night, lots of 90's hip hop/ soul classics and perfectly suited the evening. The bar was quite quiet after a busy memorial weekend but I can imagine on a party night this is the place to be. Would simply add that if you get a chance to go, do, as you will not be disappointed

book for guaranteed access as very popular. Upmarket bar food and very friendly staff, a winner! I'm not sold on wine in USA (sorry!) so have one of their great cocktails.

The place is relaxed and with a great view. Variety of drinks and some appetizers, try the hamburgers. The service is friendly with the exception of the rude hostess.

I wish I could remember our server's name, but he was extremely polite, attentive and wonderful. He was young, thin, and possibly named Phillip. Appetizers were delicious and reasonably priced. Drinks were pricey, but you are paying for that view and convenience from your room, two floors down.

Service left a lot to be desired. After being seated we sat for over 20 min without being greeted or offered service. By going up to the bar ourselves both my boyfriend and I ordered “signature” cocktails that turned out to be pre-made. Am I at 7-11?? Who in their right mind would expect their $18 cocktail had been sitting in a jug for god knows how long, at room temperature no less! The view was gorgeous as always, but I was sincerely disappointed with the quality and service this time around. Really guys??

Visited with work colleagues and after having to wait for the lift up outside finally got to the roof. Told if we wanted a seat to see a member of staff "on the left" and after waiting for 5 mins just decided to go to the bar and order. Mid order a member of staff asked if we wanted to sit down and if so we couldn't order at the bar, but the bar had just made the drinks and were saying we had to pay for them there and we then couldn't sit down! In the end they just transferred the drinks and we sat down, only to be told we could only sit for an hour. Drinks were good and at the end of our hour we asked where we should go and were told we could stay as long as we wanted.

This is a great place, up on the roof, anytime day or night. Especially great to catch the sunset but plan ahead. It greats crowded on certain days.

intimate and quiet rooftop experience. We enjoyed the food and the bar was accommodating to creating beverages not advertised on the menu. Deon was an excellent help and made sure we were comfortable throughout our time at High.

Amazing views but sadly nothing else that amazing, staff pleasant without being over friendly, food and drink expensive and bang average. I am glad i chose this place for the experience but wouldn't rush back.

While it can get very busy at sunset, the lunchtime is a blissful experience. Norma was super-attentive and made my day with her smile and service. The view can't be beat. The food is incredible for a rooftop bar. Actually for any place. The Impossible Lamb Sliders were vegan. I had to double-check on that. Wow.

The night sky and the sights of the city were beautiful , service was fine, but it gets a bit chilly out there with the breeze.

Think this is a fun place for younger couples to hang, drink, chill after a day on the boardwalk or beach. Fires are fun, views are good, and the vibe is so relaxing. Drinks up there made the evening.

We went here for a birthday celebration with a small group of friends/family. The best part is the sunset view. That is all. Food was good but not worth the price. Wine was not tasty and it’s served in the wrong kind of glass. My friend ordered champagne and it wasn’t even in a champagne glass. Maybe they should consider making some minor changes in their presentation and service. Apparently, people are mainly there for the sunset views because it cleared out quickly after sunset. Seating requires a reservation and people who are standing don’t respect your seating space. Millenials probably have a better time there.

Customer Service here is always Consistent. Jessica and Cole provided warm and attentive service (reason I returned and brought a new customer to you!) Great vibes good decent food and excellent cocktails. Thank You !

Come early, secure a seat and wait for the sun to set. The views are stunning. 360 degree views of the beach and right in the heart on Venice Beach. The roof is huge with a bar and also the bar snacks are pretty good. Definitely a must do.

The coastal warm vibes match the customer service ! Thank YOU: Jessica and Sara. Great hospitality , warm and super friendly. Venice is a vibe don’t let anyone tell you different !!

I visited here with a few friends to watch the sunset. Reasonably priced drinks for an incredible view! They even have blankets and heaters for the chillier evenings. Would highly recommend if in Venice Beach near sunset!

We were directed to the rooftop by more than one local and upon arriving were very impressed with the view, especially for sunset. The rooftop was extremely crowded and there didn't seem to be much organization to serving, you could either order at a bar or have a seat designated by the hostess and then order from a server. It took us 45 minutes to receive our drinks among the chaos, our server did apologize and was quite friendly however the drinks were not worth the wait and overpriced. It was definitely a one drink stop for us to be able to see the view. I could see it being a cool place to go on a weekday when it is quiet.

The High Rooftop Lounge sits atop the Hotel Erwin on Venice Beach and hosts spectacular views of the surrounding area. You can reserve a table ahead of time, but there is also standing room available around the rooftop. We opted to reserve a table online through opentable so we could lounge and enjoy the view and our drinks before heading off to dinner. Drinks were higher in price, but that is to be expected at a rooftop bar with premier views of the the picturesque beach lined with palm trees. The lounge does have a small food menu. I would say it may be a good place to have an appetizer, but don’t plan on visiting the lounge as your full dinner. It should be noted the lounge is 21+ for those traveling with children.

Went here for appies and they were both disgusting. Waitress was horrible and we waited forever for everything! Would not visit here again

After a walk from Santa Monica Pier to Venice Beach we made a lunch stop here. The view was magnificent, the drinks delicious and cold and the lunch tasty and filling. Would definitely come back!

Amazing sunset views from the Rooftop. Unfortunately, extremely poor bar service bar, with only two bartenders able to assist one customer at a time. Sunset line ca be long at the bar. Table service available with reservations, no seats at bar.

We stopped for cocktails as we were riding bikes on Venice Beach. What a fun place to sit and enjoy the music, drinks and view.

Good drinks to join the sunset. Awesome atmosphere in a nice area. A lot of nice people and professional staff in the bars.

The view is really nice so if you plan to visit I hope you will experience better service than we did. When we arrived you have to show your id and the person at the entrance mentioned to sit where we wanted. A lot of places were reserved and so I chose a spot which was not cleaned yet but without a reservation tag on the table. After 5 minutes not being looked after I heard the waitress talking about me as ‘that guy there’. When I turned around a fake smile appeared and I was welcomed. Quickly after that the waitress mentioned the table was reserved and I was sent back to the entrance. We wanted to relax a bit at the rooftop of our hotel, so we decided to stay and get a drink ourselves. After 1,5 hour sitting there 5 tables which were reserved were still empty. So pretty rude in total if you are a hotel guest and are treated like this.

Non-existent welcome, the two hostesses tell each other their little stories, not a look, not a smile , no welcome . We naturally head to the bottom for a nice view. Several tables indicate "reserved". We return to the hostesses explaining that we are in a hurry and that we will only stay 30 minutes max, so can we occupy a table? Answer no. We're going to the bar. There is still no welcome. The bartender's hitting on his partner at the bar. We look at them insistently for quite a while to ask for a menu. They look at us with astonishment telling us that it is up to us to move for the order..charming....very professional!!! As a result, the famous reserved tables were never occupied during our consumption, no goodbye, no tip!!!!

LIKES: Best views in Venice, great drinks and nice seating areas. DISLIKES: It gets cold in Venice in the evenings

IF you are a guest of Hotel Erwin, you get priority seating. Excellent service but a little loud (we went on a Saturday afternoon).

This was a great place to overlook Venice beach at night! It was pretty chilly and windy but they provide blankets if you just simply ask for one. The cocktails were well made and very tasteful! I do believe that there needs to be a little more lighting though!

We arrived at 3.30 pm in time to have a drink and enjoy the sunset. The roof was empty apart from two young guys but the staff insisted on us joining their table. The roof was less than half full when we were leaving at 5.30pm. Unnecessary seating policy delivered with bad attitude. A big let down and we won't be back.

Had an amazing time wondering the boardwalk of Venice Beach, but when it came time to drown out all the noise and try to enjoy the view, I found myself at the High Rooftop Lounge at the Hotel Erwin. Views were spectacular and ambience social and friendly. While I wasn't drinking anything stronger than diet soda, those that were enjoying adult beverages around me seemed pleased with the bartender's "pour." They did have a limited menu of small plates available -- tried the ahi tuna tacos and wasn't disappointed. Due to the nature of the space available on the rooftop (and probably due to the fact that the day I visited, a private party was being set up), the hostess did a good job at setting expectations. "O.k., I can seat you over here 'till 6:30, but when 6:30 comes you'll have to leave because this area is booked." While some visitors might find this off-putting, I found her candor to be refreshing. My guess is that the space at High Rooftop Lounge is in high-demand, so I feel from an organizational perspective the management handled those of us without reservations with tack and respect. Lesson learned: Next time I go back, I'll call ahead. Good time, great view and fun, spontaneous conversations with other patrons.

This place is a massive letdown. The views are great, but the service was the worst I’ve experienced in 12 days across the US. Rude bar staff and wait staff standing around doing nothing, when I was wanting to spend money. The food was also the worst I’ve had. Low grade beef in the tacos, full of gristle and really chewy. From the conversations I’ve had with local friends, that’s the norm at this place. Expensive and overrated.

Great spot for a cocktail during sunset. Seating is tight so get there early. Bartenders were very nice.

As the only true rooftop bar and restaurant in Venice, High delivers a fabulous view, comfortable seating, and a lively but not raucous crowd (no minors - so don't plan on bringing the kids). We went in the evening, just as the sun had set, I also hear it’s a fun spot in the daytime. If having a light dinner, make reservations to guarantee seating. Friendly vibe from other guests, but wait staff and hostesses seemed slightly put-upon. There’s a limited menu but the beef sliders hit the spot.

This was my best experience at the bar and I have been quite a few times in the past few years, but it was probably more than a year since I've been there. It's great that the elevator goes to the roof now and there are bathrooms on the roof level. We were given a cozy table at the end, closest to the ocean so the view was terrific. The service was the best I've ever experienced. Our waitress was super attentive although they were quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. The DJ also was playing some great chill tunes. Cocktails were interesting and tasty. I particularly liked the jagerita. It's a great bar to bring tourists to really appreciate the beauty of Venice Beach.

Can't beat the view! Limited food menu, but what they have was good quality. Nice place for cocktails while watching sunset.

Gorgeous view. Just reopened. Comfortable seating. Great food and drink. Great service. We came early - 5:30- as hotel guests without reservations. Got an amazing table - as long as we would be done by 7:15 as it was reserved for later. Great Venice Beach experience.

The view is great. There seemed to be some construction going on while we were there, maybe they are expanding, it's long and skinny with seats on either side. It's very trendy. The drinks were just ok though. The cocktails need fresh ingredients rather than the syrups they used. I know you have an amazing spot that people want to sit at, what if you ALSO had amazing drinks?? You need to make a reservation to have a seat up here, and be sure to ask for a seat FACING the view, not facing the hotel.

This has been a long overdue review I have been waiting to make. My first visit it was for my friends day before wedding party which made me think why would they want to go to a hotel rooftop near Venice as it will be full of tourists and bad service??? well I was 100% wrong! This place has SUPER friendly staff from the security at the door to the busser and wait staff, I have been to many rooftops in downtown LA but this no D-bag roof top spot like the others, everyone seems to be enjoying them self and being them-self if your from LA you know thats rare. "O" and don't forget BEST sunset view in town!! The wine list is great and has many boutique wines which you don't see at other hotel lounges in LA, good job to the person that made that list. I had the red bland F-bomb which was well "the BOMB"!! As for food they had a mix of grub from slider, Guacamole, crab dip, fish and chicken tacos. All the food was killer and the fish and chicken tacos tasted better then one would think at a rooftop lounge but more like a hotspot LA taco shop. Sliders was my fav and are grilled right on the rooftop which makes them extra hot and juicy. Overall the staff and view makes this place a must try as I can say many rooftop lounge in LA just to don't cater to locals but they do and with a smile!

Great food and exceptional service by everyone here. I recommend the flat breads you will never regret it.

Great food and drink, chill ambience, gorgeous sunset, enchanting panoramic view of the surrounding area, shore and city

I haven't stayed at this hotel but I have used the rooftop bar - definitely has one of the nicest views in Los Angeles (aside from Griffith Park) looks down on venice beach - the hustle and bustle then beach and ocean. Great place to relax, drink and watch the sunset Drinks are hotel prices but good and service was swift. We also ate from their bar menu - ahi tuna tacos and the steak sliders - both were very small but good - which we were relieved about as some of the Yelp food reviews hadn't been great. Again hotel prices but you're at a hotel - and to be honest the view is worth it. Comfy seats - even gave us blankets for when the sun went down and the wind got up a bit. Great for couples, friends and there were a few people there doing business too.

We came up here to see the sunset but unfortunately it was cloudy. Nevertheless, we had a nice time with some drinks and the crab dip. Definitely try and make a reservation so you can get a comfy seat. If it’s chilly, they’ll provide you with blankets.

This was the best bar we visited - very cool that it was at our hotel. Everyone treated us amazingly well and we had the best time.

This place is all about the views and they are spectacular! Make reservations because it is very popular rooftop lounge and the drinks are good but limited. They didn't have a blender and my friend had to explain how to make a B52. Also be prepared to take the stairs if you're planning on arriving just before sunset. The elevator becomes quite busy. Watching the sunset was amazing and I woke up early to watch the sunrise. There isn't any service for sunrise which suited me. It was a peaceful way to welcome a new day.

Me and my husband visited here on our honeymoon, we decided to try this place as I think it is the only rooftop bar in Venice Beach. We found the bar lovely, with amazing views and reasonably priced drinks. The staff are extremely friendly too. I would recommend this bar to anyone visiting Venice Beach.

This rooftop bar offers one of the best panoramas I've seen yet. You can watch a gorgeous sunset over the ocean, then tun your head east and see snow-topped mountain (Big Bear, I believe). And this was in March. The bar offers very good wine and cocktails. (I didn't sample the beers.) One of my favorite places to people-watch in L.A.

We timed it just right to see the sunset while enjoying great cocktails. The drinks are spendy but totally worth experiencing the vibe! Wait staff were very friendly!

Been here in the past months a few times, the lounge itself is nothing to talk about, as poorly designed compared to many rooftops seen elsewhere. But living nearby we went here again a couple of days ago, just to find out at the door that they started charging $10 to access the rooftop. Mind you: no mention of it on their website or when we called in the morning. The staff at the door confirmed they had decided to start charging on the day, just like that. $10 dollars to get in and cocktails priced at minimum $15 it's not worth for this place. They justified it for having a DJ (as if the layout allowed any space to dance!). I've never been charged to access the coolest rooftop bars worldwide (Shanghai, Bangkok, NY, London, you name it) and having to do it in my hometown to freeze to death on a windy day for a few hours (heaters are also useless) is just ridiculous. Staff seemed pretty unhelpful and uninterested for being an hotel that charges $300+. Bottom line is: try it for the view if you wish but don't expect too much.

Make sure you book the front banquette so that you have the front row seat to the sunset over venice beach. This is a great spot to watch the stunning sun set in a spectacular location. The drinks are reasonably priced and the service is great. If can get a bit cool but there are blankets for you so either go stylish and wear a blanket or wear something warm as it gets cool on the rooftop after the sun has set. You will not be disappointed with the front banquette.

We went here after reading about the amazing views and it didn't disappoint. We met up with some family who had already reserved a table and ordered drinks. The table service was very good and came very soon after our drinks were finished. We saw the sun set behind the hills in the distance and it was worth it just for that. It does get a bit windy up there so bear that in mind. They do provide small blankets to put around you if it gets nippy, which I thought was a nice touch. Would love to visit again!

My daughter and I traveled to Los Angeles for college visits. We wanted to have dinner in Venice Beach and found High on Open Table where it was listed as a "small plate / tapas" type of restaurant. Nowhere on the Open Table listing was there any indication of age restrictions. When we arrived at the restaurant refused to seat us because my daughter was not 21. We were really stuck -- it was 7:30 on a Saturday night and we had just paid $15 for parking across the street because the hotel refused to honor their promise of 90 minutes free valet parking. The upstairs staff said they could do nothing and said to talk to the fount desk. The front desk tried to seat us in the tiny downstairs inside restaurant, but said they could not. They finally called a manager who apologized and did get us a table in the downstairs restaurant. He was very nice and bought us two appetizers to help to make up for it. That helped since finding another reservation on a Saturday night would have been impossible. My daughter was very disappointed not to go get to sit up on the roof. It looks like a great place to spend time with friends and family (if they are all 21+).

This is the spot for an amazing sunset view! Make reservations as it was busy! We had tasty appetizers and drinks, the service was good.

Indeed, the view is superb – so are the tunes. But the drinks are watered down glasses of yuck. If you want to get a decent experience, go for a good bottled beer (then you know what you are getting), albeit for a steep price. If I would not be staying in the hotel, I do not think I would even bother going to the bar.

I planned my company's summer party here and by "I planned" I mean I called a dozen places and Michal at "High Rooftop Lounge" was quick to give me a sample menu given my budget and she literally said "we will make you look like an amazing event planner" and she did. Before I get too swept up in the views, location and seating, I MUST commend High Rooftop Lounge on it's amazing customer service!! Not just Michal, but everyone who was serving us. The bartender we got for our party was SO accommodating! The waitresses, Michal -- and honestly for me that makes or breaks an experience. I am the customer and I appreciate feeling like I matter at places. The views are amazing! I had been there a couple times at night, but this time it was about a couple hours before sunset and as soon as I stepped out of the elevator I though: Oh my god, I've literally thrown the best summer party in recent years for my company! Such amazingness. Okay, honestly the food is meh not bad at all, just nothing where you're like "Oh my god, I have to try that again." Very basic and safe. But I don't really expect that kind of quality at a rooftop lounge... call me jaded. If you want amazing views, great seating and incredible customer service come here. PS. I got MANY raves about planning the party here!

The Irwin has a great roof top bar - I've actually been to a few birthday gatherings there. The drinks were relish and the apps were great

Came here for drinks at sunset. Good, down to earth crowd and great view of Venice Beach. Door staff have attitude and you get ordered about. Barman super friendly and served good drinks (and so they should be given the price). It is only okay. May return.

I have been to High Rooftop so many times and love love love when Cayla is here! Best service, best person!

I stayed at this hotel many years ago before it beca,me Hotel Erwin. At that time, the rooms were mid-range but the location is so awesome. I stayed there and loved it. Now....my budget does not permit me to stay but if I could I think it would be awesome. So...in the late morning, before noon, I went up to the rooftop to scope out the bar "Hihg". LOVED it and wanted to go back but ran out of time. Next time, for sure. The view is awesome and there are cozy little seating areas so one could order drinks and snacks and just have the best time. Stay at the hotel and you won't have to drive after having drinks, right? It think that is a very wise idea. I have no clue if the food and drink are wonderful or reasonably priced. My opinion: it would be work the price of one drink...maybe a snack, too...just to be there to watch a sunset. Sigh......

Beautiful day in So Cal in July to visit the High Rooftop Lounge at Venice Beach, CA. The road traveled there is a little tricky, but we were able to find the Hotel Irwin easily. Be patient with parking!!! You will find parking, I know this sounds weird when you get there and see all of the cars and people etc....But you will find parking. The Hotel Irwin will only valet for guests so please be patient and try to find parking elsewhere. It's do-able! Okay onto the venue....Get to the rooftop via the elevator, and show your ID. Get a wristband and start your camera up! The tables/seating can be reserved (this is what we did) and the umbrellas are ample. The waitress staff is friendly and they try to come by ASAP. The drinks: anywhere from a jalapeno mixed drink number to fabulous bottled craft beer, this place has something for everyone. The food is great, we ordered the sliders. The guac is also fresh and tasty. The view is amazing! Looking down towards the famous Venice basketball courts, you can also see street performers, and the coastline with various sail boats. All staff was welcoming and polite, be patient with parking and if they are busy, your waitress will be too. Bring a hat (it's on the roof) and bring your camera and mingle on this trendy Rooftop Lounge.

AMAZING!!!!! I've lived in LA all my life and cannot believe I didn't know about this place. HIGHLIGHTS-- Casual and classy, nice atmosphere, yummy drinks, attentive servers and blankets for when it gets a little nippy! PARKING--First off valet is only $8 which is the best price you're going to find for parking in the area. On the roof you walk over a little wooden bridge that leads you to the patio/bar area. My friend and I found a little couch area to sit, relax and order drinks. VIEW--was AMAZING. You can see the Santa Monica ferris wheel, the ocean, palm trees, the whole shebang. VIBE--There were lit torches all along the roof that set such a chill/classy atmosphere. Great place for a date, too. Our server was super friendly and gave us cocktail recommendations. We tried 4 and they were all really good. But the BEST part is that when the sun was going down they gave us a HUGE COMFORTABLE BLANKET to keep us warm. It was epic. Could've stayed there for hours. We didn't try any of the food, but I will definitely be going back!

If you're at Venice beach, it's nice place to stop for a drink. Gets very busy, we had to stand but got a good spot and the views were amazing. Best to book if you plan staying a while. I wasn't keen on my drink, but the view made up for it!

Brook, and the management, evicted me after an 8 night stay to heal from and prepare for more cancer care at UCLA, so they could rent the room for double during the grammys.do not stay here

This is the best place to enjoy a Venice Beach sunset any time of the year. Better make reservations though. It is popular and fills up fast. What else do you need to know? Great views, drinks, food, and service. See ya there.

Located on top of Hotel Erwin this bar impresses with awesome views of the ocean and Venice boardwalk. For me, as an Austrian, the most interesting fact was that they serve bavarian wheat beer - and one of the best even - Ayinger, check it out.

The service and space to stretch out and relax was fantastic. The view from atop can't be beat..sunsets and blankets and patio heaters were a perfect way to enjoy and end the evening.

Plan ahead, check sunset time and make a reservation for about an hour before. We had a comfy couch facing the beach, a blanket, terrific drinks and food (the best veggie quesadilla ever.) the view is fantastic. The service was great, with staff showing up just as it started to get chilly to light a heater, bringing sunglasses... A definite highlight in our visit!

I have been many times - and been hesitant to go since the Pandemic as I was put off by the hipster attitude where everything always seems to be a nuisance to whoever greeted and waited on my party. On Tuesday I took one of my artists and his wife - and we had an excellent time. The supposed-to-be medium steak on my friend's salad was dead-dead-dead ;-) - but we were happy to forgive almost anything as our waiter Max was going out of his way to keep us happy (everyone else was great too, Max was just fantastic). If the Pandemic "helped" for a change in attitude, I will become a regular again.

This bar is worth it for the views alone, but the drinks are amazing as well. The food is decent, but a little pricy, but it's a great place to cozy up with blankets and heaters on a cool night. You get priority if you're a hotel guest, so you might need a reservation to get a seat if not. It's a great place to unwind and still feel like you're part of the excitement of Venice!

Fantastic place for a cocktail with friends to watch the sunset. Get there early or book if you want a table.

Somewhat overrated, although without reservation you can have a drink but need to get it yourself at the bar. Only one bartender for the whole terras makes you need to wait. Furthermore the drink are expensive, but that seems to be the norm in Venice beach and LA

Plastic cups for Champagne ?!?!? really!? quite dissapointed with that . apart from this- nice service, cozy seats ,even blankets to hide from evening ocean chills.

Undeniably the best view over Venice beach area, and very nice decor/seating area. We visited for drinks as a group (including children) early afternoon. Nearly all tables were empty but all marked reserved. The staff watched us walk around to find a table and made no effort to speak with us. We eventually asked someone at the "front" area and she showed us to one of the reserved tables. We waited almost 10minutes for someone to take our drinks orders, they have no espresso coffee, and nothing that caters for families (juices, smoothies, shakes). We ordered some tea and soft drinks, but those took another 10minutes to turn up. Tea cups had no teaspoons, milk had to be requested separately, no sugar anywhere to be seen. A great location let down by limited or poor service.

High is one of the rare rooftops bar and restaurant for some bites. Stunning view over Venice beach, nice privacy seating and if you are lucky a s breath taking sunset. It can be shilly but they have blankets. If the table are sold out you still can drop by and order food on the bar and they have several areas where you can sit on high tables.

A really cool spot on the roof with 360 degree views. We only popped in for a break from the heat and walking but the Staff were friendly and polite, prices were reasonable, mid-range. A nice spot to have a couple of minutes away from the madness of the Venice Beach promenade. If you can get one of the end tables, I imagine this would be the best place to sit, but the views are pretty good from any location on either side.

The view from High is lovely, the drinks were excellent and the waiter was very friendly. The hostess was extremely rude and drove away business on a very slow afternoon. The people seated near us were given a “30 minute warning” (there’s a time limit??) although only a few tables were occupied. Too bad, this seems to be a cool place.

You can't beat the view in this place and it's a wonderful location to watch the sunset. The cocktails are pricey, but no more than other spots in Venice. Staff very nice and friendly and know their drinks well.

Stayed 2 nights in the hotel in April 2021. Made reservation for the Rooftop restaurant. Got seated, ordered, food came out cold. Was put in front of me, no silverware, and did not see waiter for 30 minutes. Ate burger & fries without silverware or napkin. Bad night, just a fluke? Bad waiter? Bad management? Either way, I alerted the hotel that night. A week has gone by, and they have not gotten back to me. The rooftop restaurant fills up every night. Guess that is enough for them. Worst dining experience.

Windy but lovely, expansive ocean view. Good eats. Contemporary. Great meet up spot. Romantic setting.

This restaurant is in an excellent location, with wonderful views - you can also see the planes going into LAX, without their noise to annoy. Obviously given its location the food and drink was not cheap, but their lunch menu was rather limited and when the food came nothing special and quite tight - nothing like the American sized portions we'd become used to everywhere. I quite enjoyed the beef sliders if you do fancy eating though. Cocktails were not mixed that well, but the lemonade is worth having. Our bench seats were quite comfortable, with us all sat in a horse shoe, but the table was not well positioned to eat off. Staff were polite, but not particularly friendly, it felt very much transnational. To be honest, Venice Beach in general is just a place you might as well skip as a tourist destination.

We visited friends when we came down to LA and they brought us here. You cannot best these views! We had a bit of a hiccup when we first got there, as our friends had made reservations a few days prior and confirmed that morning, but they couldn’t find our reservation once we got there. After a bit, they were able to sit us. The drinks were amazing! We highly recommend The Drunken Swede and the Manzarita with mezcal instead of tequila. The staff were pretty attentive. The wind picked up a ton and they provided blankets, which was a nice touch as we couldn’t get the warming lamp to work. We didn’t try any food but will be back and will do so then. Definitely worth checking out!

up there for a private party... Norma from the restaurant downstairs was there and she was lovely as always. I love this place

I had an absolutely terrible experience at High Rooftop Lounge. Despite being a bald 46-year-old man who clearly looks well over the legal drinking age, I was denied entry because I didn't have my ID on me to prove that I'm over 21. This policy is not only nonsensical, but it's also a clear sign of a poorly run establishment. It's not a legal California requirement to check ID on EVERY person regardless of age, and this policy is discriminatory against people who may not have easy access to their IDs or who may not fit the establishment's narrow view of what a "young" person looks like. The manager's passive-aggressive attitude was completely unprofessional and made the entire experience even worse. It's shocking that a supposedly upscale establishment would treat its customers this way. If High Rooftop Lounge is truly concerned about age verification for a almost 50 years old bald guy, there are other ways they could have gone about it without denying entry altogether, such as asking me some basic questions to verify my age. But instead, they chose to prioritize their nonsensical policies over their customers' satisfaction. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else where you'll be treated with respect.

Excellent service with incredible 360 views !! The drinks were perfect, the only food we had was French fries as we had already eaten but they were great. We spent 2 relaxing hours and can’t wait to come back!!

The food was good. The 'warm you up' drinks were amazing. And you can't beat the view. Higjly recommend this to end the day.

I've never eaten a full meal here, but stop by whenever I'm on the West side for a quick nosh and one (or three) of their handcrafted cocktails. You really can't beat the sunset view over the water, and it's one of the few places with a rooftop bar that doesn't charge a cover just to get in. That said, you will want to make reservations to catch the sunset or you might not get a seat. I took a client last night and ended up staying longer than expected as we made some new friends. They are doing some renovations/additions right now so the place is a bit more disheveled than last time I was there, but we still enjoyed the experience and the service, as always, was friendly and attentive.

We travelled with a large group, and got one of everything on the menu! I was impressed with the food & the view!

I enjoyed wine and snacks high over looking Venice beach. The classic apps were very good but the view was outstanding. The lounge seating was comfortable and gas lamps are available when the sun goes down. This was a perfect roof top experience. The talent here is mother nature. @chloebeden

We visited this hotel specifically to use the roof terrace, which has amazing views. My friends and me (4 of us) occupied one of the few tables which didn’t have a “reserved” sign on it. A minute later an obnoxious girl put a reserved sign on it and said we’d have to move. I asked when the party who reserved it was arriving as we were only having one drink. She said it wasn’t reserved for anyone but as it held six seats we’d have to move. We were moved to a smaller table and I went to the bar and purchased a bottle of wine for us all. After about 15 minutes the same obnoxious girl returned and stated that we’d “HAVE to purchase another drink as I’d gone to the bar”. I politely informed her we wouldn’t be staying after our drinks. Great views, but certain staff require an attitude chip changing.

Excellent place to relax, enjoy a drink and take in the views of the neighborhood and beyond. From here you can also take in one of Los Angeles best spots for spectacular sunsets.

They open at 3 pm. Reservations are usually recommended, but we went up around 3:30 and they seated us saying we could have it for 2 hours. Certainly plenty of time! The drinks are good and they also offer some small plates.

Public bar. Terrible views, you check in to the rooftop bar and have a little over an hour to sit and have to look at ghetto looking rooftops and strangers sitting 2 feet from your face. Disgusting experience. Needless to say, we left before finishing our glasses of wine. This was on my bucket list but now is on another list. This establishment is not suitable for couples unles you book months in advance. Forget about kids. Great for receptions, business meetings and other public events but for privacy go somewhere else. It was a tense and uncomfortable environment. Sorry for the bad review but your establishment was lacking in hospitality. We had 2 glasses of chardonnay and it was 37.00 including tip which is reasonable. Other than that.....nothing was reasonable. Don't think that this is for couples, children or singles.

The view is absolutely fabulous! Most people come to see the sunset but the view over the city is also very nice. There was a line downstairs for 15-30 minutes but it was worth the wait! (You can skip the line by making a reservation). We only had drinks here so I can't say anything about the food.

I did not stay at this hotel, only went to the rooftop bar. I would say it is a must for sunset drinks in Venice. We were only in LA for 1 week and managed to come here twice. Its lovely and not too pretentious by LA standards (can go in without a booking and the dress code is not very strict). The view of the city is spectacular and no matter where you sit you get to see the show.

We were staying at the hotel so reserved a table one evening. I think it's best to reserve a table if you can. Staff were very friendly & helpful. The view is amazing and its so lovely to sit with a few drinks wrapped in the lovely warm blankets watching the sun go down! I only wish we had time to go back on a second night.

Really nothing to write home about here apart from the vista out across Venice beach, pretty poor set up, Sky light in middle of the space devours all of the available volume, clueless staff too don't help, make sure you have great company and you will have a good night this bar is a big dissappointment...

Amazing views! We came for sunset cocktails and sliders and the lounge was superb. Even though it was very busy we were well taken care of by Sean.

View is amazing from the rooftop. Make a reservation as we waited an hour in the bar for a table-which wouldnt have bothered us if the staff were a little friendlier. Food is snacky and nothing special-youre paying for the view. Check it out, but dont let the pretentious staff spoil it for you.

Nice place to have cocktails and even dinner, watching sunset. They will give you blankets if it's cold and windy. They are expanding the place to accommodate more people. Very nice place sit, relax, talk, eat or drink.

Great spot for picturesque views during the day, friendly staff, but the food is bland & the drinks are watery.

This place only cares about large groups that rent out this space. A tech group was coming in at 5:00 so at 3:00 when they open they put "reserved" on all tables. Next night, we made reservation for three...they argued with us that it had been made for only two...and tried to put three on a bench that would fit one and half. Finally when we were going to leave, they said "you are lucky another party has left early". Lucky???? Food Is just okay...drinks expensive for what you get.

I wish the attitude of the staff was too. If you do not have a reservation, they make you feel second class. Still I would go again and make sure my friends would go.

Great food, amazing cocktails and a view that in just unsurpassed!!! I will be back for the crab dip for sure!!!

This is a great date spot to watch the sunset of Venice Beach with a friend or loved one. If you end up going though make sure you MAKE A RESERVATION. I even brought my own flowers for a date and they had my table set ready for when we arrived. Food is good and drinks are awesome.

a hipster place. Lots of areas to chill and have drinks and some finger food. Very So Cal. The Sunsets when the weather is good makes the lack of a large variety of food choices more than worth it

Open aired viewing of the Venice beach area including Venice beach pier and all other beach activities--360 degree panoramic views---fabulous food and beverages--very accommodating staff. This is a must-do!

If you travel the coast of Europe you will find escapes, restaurants, hotels, hideaways almost anywhere and everywhere where there is a place to enjoy what nature has given us. If you travel the long coastline of the United States of America very few such places can be found. ERWIN and "HIGH Rooftop Lounge" is one of the few exceptions. A unique place to enjoy the beauty of nature in a very civilized surrounding. Highly recommended to all of you who knows how to enjoy life and a fantastic sunset.

High is the best view of Venice beach you'll get. Sweeping 360 degree views located in the heart of Venice by the sea. Perfect to spend a Saturday for lunch or happy hour. Our server Laura was attentive, friendly, and showcased "above and beyond" customer service. Sergio made us feel special by walking us to our lounge/seat and continuously checking up on us for feedback on the food and drinks. Try their tacos and sliders!!!! The venue/location is spectacular no question but what made our experience memorable was the attentiveness and friendliness of the server and manager. Thanks High staff!!

I had a great Saturday evening at this happening night spot. The views were wonderful, and the ambiance was awesome. There was music, a nice crowd and I felt like I was part of the LA nightlife. There was space to move around so I never felt too crowded. The drinks and food were good too. The customer service was also excellent. We were greeted by Paris who made us feel very welcome, and even checked on us during the evening. In addition, we had a wonderful server named Laura. I will definitely return here for a fun evening out the next time I'm in the LA area.

PBR in a can! Great vintage looking bar serving proper cocktails. Go downstairs - usually a DJ or a burlesque show. Always a good time!

Nice location and bar. Was a beautiful day and enjoyed just relaxing with few beers and sliders and chips, before our walk back to Santa Monica.

We popped by for a drink, took along time to be served, which is ok when busy. Took a long time to be served our order, which is ok when busy. When we asked for our bill, it took 3 people and 20 minutes to figure that out, that might be ok when busy. It was not busy! Not a good experience unfortunately as the views are lovely!

The views, food, and atmosphere are great! But the guy that greets you is super rude. He needs to be retrained in hospitality ASAP.

On arrival we saw such a lovely outlook from the rooftop. The security were welcoming and friendly and directed us to the young female wait staff. The staff were quite unfriendly snobby and on the side of rude. They told us there were no seats but pointed to a section where we could maybe find a seat and then continued their conversation we had interrupted. We watched other various couples and groups come, and all the younger men got much better service with a smile and help for finding a seat. The hostesses actually got off their chair to help them. Interesting service. The bar staff were pretty unfriendly also and looked down at anyone middle aged or above as well. We ordered some food and drinks and enjoyed our time on the rooftop, watching out across Venice Beach and seeing the sun go down. A lovely spot perfect for groups or couples. Blankets on chairs to keep you warm were good also. Food was nice, average quality simple items, mostly fried choices. We would go again, just be prepared if you are not young and male, the service may not be that good. They could improve their attitude and it would be perfect. Staff on the reception and out front were very welcoming.

Crowded and tables/cushions go early. Great place to practice your hip French accent on Russian teen models! Crowded and pricey, but that's the price you pay for beauty, man!

The Sunday I came here the tone was pretty mellow, the allow you to stand around if you do not have a reservation. I enjoyed that this was free and the view was amazing. I recommend putting your name on the list for a table because it gets crowded. It's a little bummer that there's a time limit on the seat but i guess it gives everybody a chance to mingle

We thoroughly enjoyed happy hour at the High Rooftop Lounge. It is an experience that shouldn't be missed when you're visting Venice Beach. The scenery from the lounge, especially at sunset, can't be beat. The food wasn't as good as the view, thus the "very good" rating instead of "excellent." It's a great place for a stunning view -- the most important reason to go. Enjoy!

great! a great view, a great time! They gave us blankets for us not to be cold, we saw a beautiful sunset with a glass of wine, it was perfect.

This was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy a sunset drink after a busy day of sightseeing and walking the Venice Beach strip. The cocktails were nothing special though - so I'd recommend sticking with wine or beer. Service was friendly. Music was great! We didn't order food - but it looked reasonably ok. If the drinks and food were a bit better I'd give a 5 - but we did still really love this place and would definitely go again!

We came from Germany and wanted to enjoy the breathtaking sunset with our 15 year old son. I read before on the website that minors are not allowed. For this reason, I have written an extra e-mail to the hotel, if that would be alright, if we would just look at the sunset. In response I got that it was not a problem at all accompanied by an adult and we would like to come. The day came and we drove extra to Venice. The lady at the counter said very nicely that we should take the elevator and drive up. Suddenly a security came and asked if we were hotel guests and then said that we can not go upstairs with our son. He picked up the manager, who then said that she can not let us into the rooftop bar because they deny access to minors. We left disappointed. The rules are the rules, we accept that, but it was annoying and unfriendly. As an excuse, she said it was the fault of the booking platform Resy that they work with. Then you just have to communicate better, then you do not even take the path in purchasing. :(

The Rooftop Lounge is the perfect place for quality hand crafted cocktails with staff that aims to please. Alothough they don't have full dinner menus this is a great spot to end or start the night with in Venice Beach. The best part was the views, make sure to reserve a time at sunset to truly feel the magic.

We only had drinks, but great views and service, would definitely go back. one warning, beware low flying seagulls and their deposits

My girlfriends and I often stop by High for sunset drinks. It has a great view and delivers a mean cocktail. Weekend day vibes also make this a wonderful spot in Venice. Make a reservation for prime tables.

The 360 degree view is amazing and gives you a great view of venice beach and the rest of LA. You can book tablesso if you plan to go with a group for sunset I suggest you book. My boyfriend and I went on a monday at 6pm and were able to get a seat through to sunset luckily but it got very busy come sunset. Drink range was ok, not cheap and a limited range of snack foods are available.

We came at noon, 4 adults with 1 infant and they declined us entry because they're "technically a bar" and can't have any underaged individuals. The place was empty and we never had a problem eating at restaurants that serve alcohol.

The view from the roof is unbelievable. Anytime of day is great, but sunset is perfect. Myself and three friends got great food and drinks. An experience we will not soon forget.

High is a lounge bar on the roof of the Erwin Hotel. There is an amazing view over Venice beach, good music, young trendy crowd. Make sure to book in advance if you 'd like to have a table. There is a small selection of burgers and dishes to choose from. No the best quality. However cocktails are fairly good. Greta place to chill out while enjoying sunset.

Good food and drinks while you have the most incredible rooftop view. Make a reservation and ask to have a view of the ocean or sunset (make a reservation around 6:15)

I had the best experience here. The cocktails were amazing... experimental and different. I enjoyed the Pineapple Express. BBQ flatbread was awesome. But what made the experience was our server. Cayla was the beezeneezzzz. She honestly made us feel like we were her long time friends. It was a great experience coming to Venice. The exact thing we were lookin for!

I brought a business client here to celebrate a new endeavor, and it was a great choice. The view at sunset was absolutley amazing, really something to see. The only let down was the wait staff. At one point we waited for easily 20 minutes to get a refill on our drinks. The manager was very nice when we made her aware. All in all this place has the potential to be a first-class establishment.

We knew the view of the ocean and the sunset would be amazing, but were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food/cocktails.

First - a huge thank you to Kellie for finding us the perfect table and for rescuing my purse at the end of the night!! Highs is a special place to watch the sunset in LA. The environment, food, and drinks ensured we had a great night, and the blankets kept us there long after the sunset. It was a memorable evening.

nice snack food. a bit too snobby for me, didnt feel really comfortable. more suitable for small groups rather than couples

Hard to embrace the comfortable lounge atmosphere when the sun has already gone down. The music pumps, the waitress is nice, the temperature is around 50 F.Aviation, / Bombay Sapphire gin | crème de violet | fresh lemon juice looks like something I have turned up in a hurry on my own terrace. No, it's not enough to make a nice evening in Venice

This is an odd one, it's perhaps not the most obvious of restaurants and indeed took me a few minutes to even find the entrance, but was completely worth it once you're in. You have to walk around the building and find the entrance, to find the elevator, and you do get the feeling that you might actually be in the wrong place completely, but stick with it. The rooftop restaurant / bar has views out across the town and beach, and being a rooftop means you get full sunshine too. The food was excellent, the service was great, and I'll admit - the washrooms were amazing.

Of course the scenery can't be beat. Heaters and blankets (!) for when it gets chilly. Drinks were great. Food was good. Service awesome!

Had the best cheese board I have tried!!! The service was amazing and the view was beautiful! It was a good dinner to end our honeymoon! Thank you

We went with another couple yesterday afternoon, and they charging a $5 to just get in the door to the hotel. We had friends staying there, and we could not get up to see them! (they had to come down with a room key) Once in the lobby, there is ONE elevator and a lot of people trying to go up and down. So takes quite a while to get anywhere. Once entering the elevator, there was a bouncer type of dude that announced "only 8 people!" and counted us on. We got to our friend's floor and got off on the 6th floor. Then walked upstairs to High. They had a table, but the afternoon sun was intense so we gave it up to stand in the shade instead. One waitress bumped into our friend, spilling his drink - no excuse me, let me get you another, nothing. We had a bottle of Prosecco, and it wasn't very cold. The waitress brought the bottle, and two glasses. Then walked away to find two more glasses. We had to open the bottle ourselves, then she eventually came back with an ice bucket. At sunset, the crowds had thinned out and the temps were a lot better. Ordered a bottle of Rose, and again, not that cold. Great views, but a lot of other stuff going on here...

Cute rooftop with great views of the ocean and the sunset. No age limit. Nice for drinks and little bites. Nice for friends’ get together. The Froze drink is delicious and refreshing.

This rooftop lounge is OUTSTANDING! Although it is almost right on the beach, when you are on this roof deck you definitely feel like you are right on the sand. The views and the vibe at this place are so awesome! We had drinks and appetizers and stayed there for several hours, it was an absolute blast and that staff are really great too!

Saw the terrace from Venice beach and went up for a drink. The view is fabulous and we ended up having a light lunch: the guacamole, the young papaya salad and little lamb burguers were great. The place itself has a good vibe.

We went Saturday before Mother’s Day to enjoy the 75 degree weather at the beach. Matt was our server. He was EXCEPTIONAL! Exchanged my drink. Brought us blankets. Made sure we got all of our food when our original server disappeared. I love this rooftop. Always a great time.

Be sure to get here by 7.30 to get some space and make the most of the sunset. It could be a great place for a brunch as well. Drinks are expensive. Overall, its worth having 1-2 drinks and soak into the view.

I went there with two girlfriends for drinks and appetizers to see the sunset on a Sunday (in March). As previously stated, the view is amazing and I recommend catching a great sunset there if you can! The deck is nice (rooftop of the Hotel Erwin, hence the name) and we found the seating to be quite comfortable. Since we were the past sunset, we were given blankets to keep warm in (in addition to the heat lamps) and they will come in quite handy as it gets chilly up there at night. Disclaimer: I'm from LA and anything below 60 degrees is cold to me. I highly recommend making a reservations - you can hang out at the bar if you don't have one, but I find it's just more comfortable to have seating. The service can be on the slower side, but it's pretty lively and packed there. I definitely recommend at least checking it out once!

I highly recommend a visit to the high. There are breathtaking views, great drinks, tasty appetizers, comfortable seating.

The perfect place for an aperitif at sunset! Reservation is recommended if you would like to stay at the table. Good coctails and just an amazing view! Really enjoyed!

I came here with friends while bar hopping in Venice beach. It's a nice a lite rooftop, small and not a lot of wiggle room. But great view over looking the ocean and the strip. Cocktails are on the pricey side. The specialty cocktails were good, not great but good enough. I would say that you are definitely paying for ambience.

We eat here twice. On a beautiful sunny afternoon we stopped by without a reservation. We were promptly seated at a table with a great ocean view. We ordered drinks and snackies and were so pleased we decided to return. A couple of days later we reserved a table at sunset. What a disappointment. This time service was beyond casual, more like lethargic. The food, a lobster roll and fish tacos, was absolutely inedible. Where did they even get chewy fish? We’ll never dine here again and you shouldn’t either

Went there with a bunch of mates on a Friday evening and really enjoyed it. Views are superb and a great atmosphere with a mixed age crowd. We were five men in our 50s and we did not feel out of place and into a relaxed vibe. The place does not feel touristy even though it is a must do when visiting Venice in my opinion.

Great Views, nice digs, decent food and drinks. Amazing DJ's on our 4 th of July visit. We watched at least 6 city wide fireworks displays as well as every local alley going off. Fun, great service even with a packed house. This is where you want to be

Great atmosphere, delish views, great music, love the energy, truly cozy BUT....the menu is too light. Cocktails & sun are a great combo, but I shouldn't have to go down to the boardwalk for a heartier, greaser meal. Add some garlic or sweet potatoes fries, some turkey or chicken sliders, Mac & cheese. The 2 skewers per order is not the way to go..delicious, but patrons should get more for the money

Nice hangout to watch the ocean, beach crowd and sunset. It was a nice bar to visit with your friends and make new acquaintances.

This rooftop provides the best views of Venice! Went with some friends to watch sunset and it was perfect. Great food, staff is super friendly, drinks are delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

The view is amazing. Very friendly staff. The cocktails bar is average. Expensive though. Would recommend for a couple of drinks and to see the view, otherwise it will became too expensive.

I can only say about the sunset and a few drinks. The sunset is espectacular, amazing, nothing like this sunset.... The drinks are good. We just came here for the sunset and it is just above espectations.

Nice modern roof top perfect view hip location. So the Hotel is not even donee, but the hotel is packed with trendy types an the roof top lounge and bar is even more popular! There is a full bar and many coved couch areas as well as standing galley style areas to enjoy a cocktail and a few menu ites such as sliders, street tacos and humma with olives and pita slices.

Definitely a must-stop for drinks and the view. The servers and staff are friendly. The seating is comfortable and the energy is positive.

Brilliant atmosphere, great chillaxing loungy atmosphere and fantastic view at magic hour. Good drinks, but don´t expect food here - they only serve tiny little snacks - which is absolutely fine with your drink. The view on the ocean is exquisit and people love to hang out here - flirty atmosphere which is fun to watch...

The view of Venice beach from the top is really extraordinary. The setting is beautiful. But: the cocktails have very very little taste and the crowd is the "hip wannabe" crowd I usually do not like too much. Service is very attentive and friendly - from the security guy checking the IDs to the servers.
High Rooftop Lounge
The view is incredible at sunset, and the food was very good. Will definitely return on a future visit. Service was excellent.
