A private drink 'club' with Stellar drinks and delicious dessert options....perfect after dinner at Umi or Chops. I had the multilayered cake and a glass of bubbles....my husband had a smoking whiskey drink. Totally cool vibe with great tunes....not too loud, so we could actually have a conversation.

Don’t even bother spending your money on that place. From the service to the quality of the foods and drinks it’s not worth a penny. I wouldn’t recommend.

If you can get in you must go! My husband and I secured reservations for our anniversary and went after dinner, our desire was to have a few cocktails before going on to the next bar. Once you put in the code they send you via email the day of your reservation, into the key pad next to an unmarked door at the One Bulkhead Plaza building, you enter a tiny room where a hostess then seats you inside a very small bar area. It was dark and mysterious. The cocktails are different than any we've ever had before and they are delicious! I had smoke in my whiskey cocktail and we shared avocado salad with wasabi dressing, omg it was delicious! We had 4 cocktails altogether and some edamame. I will definitely be going back!!

i was in Buckhead for business and tagged along a friend and local business partner to this place with his wife and their son and his girlfriend. access to the place seemed rather strange consdiering it's located in what appears to be a shopping mall. the initial impression i got was that it was not very hospitable or friendly. the staff seemed disengaged and somewhat arrogant.. if they didn't want me or my money in this establishment perhaps they should be in a different business.. drinks were ok but took FOREVER to come out.. nothing impressive about that.. your staff should be batching and prepping these drinks regularly and a cocktail must drink well and easy on the pallette.. instead these were over-the-top concoctions that had no character flow and the ingredients simply didn't mesh.. i've had drinks in london, New Orleans, Tokyo, and my dear hometown of NY.. and the best drink is executed well and simply and is served to you at the right temperature.. these simply weren't.. perhaps the rude and arrogant staff did it for me but i simply didn't enjoy it.. there are many cocktail bars in atlanta that serve good drinks in a friendly and warm environment.. this was simply not one of them...

I went with my girlfriend at the time and my brother. It’s a very small place. We were seated right away but it was crowded and there was terrible 80’s music playing. We were told that we had a waitress but she didn’t come over for 15 minutes. We all ordered a drink. We waited 20 more minutes and finally got up to leave. The waitress came over saying that she is getting our drinks but didn’t seem to care and didn’t even apologize. I usually walk out when things like that happen but my girlfriend at the time asked to stay and give it a chance. So we did. We sat back down to give it another shot. After waiting another 10 minutes the waitress came with our drinks. I paid and closed out because I didn’t want to stay. We tried the drinks and the were watered down and terrible. We didn’t finish our drinks and walked out. Non of us would recommend this place to anyone. It didn’t feel special or exclusive by any means.

What I’m measuring it against: cocktail/speakeasy-style bars in major cities. So I guess this place is at least partly owned by one of the people from Angel’s Share, one of that city’s top bars. There is not a strong cocktail scene yet in Atlanta (though Holman & Finch was ahead of the curve), so this place is a welcome addition. Getting in: last I checked, this is place is “reservation only”, which does guarantee a decent experience for those who go. The process is by email and is explained simply enough on their website. Vibe: Just beautiful. Mostly black interior with some dim globe lights, plus some ambient electronic music or other music that suites that vibe (some Interpol and even Digable Planets?). It’s two floors and a bar, but the space is small enough for a very intimate experience. I used this analogy in another review, but I’ll use it here as well—Even Willie Tanner from “Alf” would seem cool in here (though in my mind, he always had an “it” factor). Food/Drink: It’s mostly cocktail bar, so food is mostly tapas-style…you do not come here for a full meal. I liked my drinks for the most part, though I didn’t think the one with truffle oil worked so well (It tend to get gin-based drinks that are lighter and herbal). That’s largely a preference—the drinks themselves were well-made and well-presented. My pork-slider type thing was decent enough. Again, you’re coming mainly for vibe and drinks…not food. Service: Really got to hand it to this place…doormen/hosts and servers all extremely accommodating. I’d expect nothing less from the city where the beloved ‘80s series “Matlock” was set. Summary: Very nice place, but the “reservation only” policy leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, it helps keep the place from getting overcrowded (which is key to maintaining the intimate vibe), but on the other hand, people often like to go to such bars on “the spur of the moment”. In other words, I’m fine making reservations at a 3-star Michelin restaurant since that’s something you plan for weeks in advance and look forward to, but it can be somewhat annoying to do for a cocktail bar since you don’t know until the last moment if you’re in the mood for it (or perhaps it’s just me). Regardless, this is a welcome addition to Atlanta to fill the time between dinner and hitting up Compound or perhaps even Magic City😊.

After celebrating my wife's birthday with a concert and dinner, we decided to go out for drinks. This is a very exclusive place with a wonderful atmosphere. It is off the beaten path and consider yourself extremely fortunate to visit this little gem. They serve some of the best sushi I have ever had in my life. The wait staff is pleasant and very attentive! The establishment was dimly lit which sets the perfect mood.

Very secret and exclusive lounge in Buckhead. You have to have a code to enter but once inside it's your playground. Great curated cocktails and lovely people watching.

This little gem offers a fantastic dining experience. The cocktails are delicious and the sushi divine. Highly recommend!

Poor service, poor food quality! Never again!! Waited 20 minutes for our drinks to come. The waitress was so rude! I’ve never experienced such a terrible restaurant before in my life !!!

You need a code to get in here, which adds to the exclusiveness of the place and contains the crowds. The cocktails are extraordinary and the bartenders are all very personable. Watch your wallet though-you can run up a large (but worth it) tab here. Small bites are available from Umi restaurant. Semi loud music from the 80's are on offer, which we enjoyed. Give yourself about five minutes for your eyes to get acclimated to the dark! Worth the exercise in emailing for a code!

this place takes the crown of being the most pretentious bar in the city. we came for drinks before dinner and just couldn't understand why anyone would waste their time spending $$$$ in this place. the drinks were ok, but at that price, oh wow! it took forever to get the cocktails and the accoustics are terrible so you can hear everyone's conversation ricochet off the walls. the whole retina scan thing was very pretentious. it's a bar for god's sake, not a CDC worksite.

Visited Himitsu while in Atlanta for the weekend and it was a delightful experience. I ordered the Duck Tataki and it was delicious. They also offer Japanese beers which were very good and a large selection of custom cocktails which were also some of the best I’ve had. The waitress we had was friendly and the atmosphere was intriguing as well. It was a little pricey but if you are looking for a splurge experience while in Atlanta I would definitely recommend it.

Service and Drinks were A1. Was in town visiting and snagged a reservation. We ordered the Karaage, Crispy Rice, Himitsu Roll and the Rock Shrimp Tempura. For Drinks, we ordered the Kiwi Gimlet, Apple Highball and , I believe, the Yuzu. Everything was really good. Our waitress (believe her name is Courtney) was attentive and the ambience was great. Music was not too loud or overbearing. Will definitely come to this place again when in Atlanta

A Japanese speakeasy? Yes, they really do exist. And they have a strict dress code. And you need a reservation. But don't let that deter you. The place is pretty pricy with each drink running about $20, but it's a great place to take a date. I think I tried almost every non-Gin based drink on the menu and each one was as good as the last. The desserts are also very good. For a special treat get the smoked Whiskey drink!
Very cool
Is it pretentious...of course. Is it it cool...yes very. Great Umi food. The drinks were awesome. Brenda our sever was really great. Loved the music. But the silliness of getting in is over the top unnecessary.
