Delicious and affordable lunch special - choose an entree, appetizer, and it comes with a nice soup and salad. Great value and absolutely delicious!!

I came here after craving Thai for a while. Unfortunately everything we ordered was very ordinary and tasted nothing like the Thai food you get in Australia. The fried rice was really bland, basically just white rice with a few vegetables and chicken. The pad see ew was also an odd flavour, better than the rice though. I’m not sure if this is normal for America as it’s the only Thai food I had on the trip but it was a much lower standard than I am used to. Wish I had spent all that money on something nicer!

I enjoyed lunch here, particularly thanks to them meeting my request to add basil and lemongrass to the dish I ordered. It was a comfortable atmosphere and very tasty food. Their ROTI bread was delicious. If I wasn't so full from lunch I'd have had another one for sure :-)

A really great surprise I love their food it was good atmosphere would absolutely recommend going if you're in the area and it seems like there was a whole bunch of stuff to do around it so it would be worth even planning a trip out

Had lunch with my daughter after visiting USF for a college tour. Very clean, very inviting and the service was excellent. The Pad Thai was very good, but I must say the Tom Yum soup was some of the best I've ever had. Completely unexpected and a very nice surprise on this cold a rainy day. We ate on a Friday after the lunch rush so it wasn't so crowded and had a very pleasant lunch. High recommended if you like Thai!

I would recommend this place to all visitors. Fabulous ambiance, excellent location and extremely friendly people. Thank you

We saw the sign and decided to stop in. I was really surprised how good it was. Our waiter was very friendly. It was great. I highly recommend it if you're in the area.

Been coming here for years with my mom! Always amazing food! It's our go to restaurant when we are on haight!

What a cute little place right on Haight Ashbury. I was looking for something casual for lunch and found this thai restaurant which turned out to be really good. Fast service, friendly staff, very cute little place and excellent thai food with a good variety. Good prices too.

Several days around San Fran and pad Thai on my mind. Lunchtime on eclectic Haight Street, I passed Hippie Thai. Perfect name for this neighborhood! Menu looked great. Large selection. Friendly service. Only about 20 tables. Nice to see that they are open until 11pm during the week and midnight on Fri-Sat nights. My lunch was perfect. I'll be back!!

This is a Resto my brother and I love going to again and again.. we had lunch and we ordered the seafood noodle soup with generous amounts of squid rings, rice noodles and shrimp with some fish balls. The soup is clear just like Hotpot.. Then we had the Kaw Na Ped, which was duck and green leafy veggies on top of rice with 2 sauces: a plum and sweet soy sauce. Excellent taste! The Thai ice tea is also excellent and I love it! We love the food here and I definitely recommend this place to everyone! Prices are very reasonable, especially with the big servings.

We have lived in Asia for a combined total of 30+years, spent a lot of time in Thailand. This was, I think our 6th visit to this restaurant over the past 12 months. What has been good, has turned to very poor. Our appetizers where just stodge. Our main, duck red curry was nice, The Pad Thai was appalling. Basically sweet spaghetti, just horrible. We told the staff, they could not of cared less. This will have been our final visit. Very disappointing!

Thai cuisine and the food here was plentiful, fresh and tasty. Service prompt and friendly and clean surrounds. Menu lots to chose from.

Generous. Authentic. Fresh. Worth the stop. That said, the waiter was probably new ... grade him a B, at best. But not a game stopper, especially because the cuisine was YUM!

We were in San Francisco for 4 days, and I didn't have a meal I enjoyed more than my meal at Hippie Thai. We were in the neighborhood and came upon this place by pure chance. I'm not the biggest fan of Thai food usually, but I eat it frequently because my husband is a huge fan. I usually get a chicken noodle dish at my local Thai shop, so I got something I thought would be close at this location. Personally, I nailed it! I tried my husband's salmon curry dish, and his was ok (I'm not a huge curry fan), but mine was so enjoyable. I sat and savored every bite. The restaurant has a fun vibe, too, that matches the neighborhood. 5 Stars for the type of restaurant, good service, good vibe, great food, good prices. Not a high-end dining experience, obviously, but great for local, casual, Thai. ***WARNING TO COVID VISITORS*** THERE ARE LITERALLY NO BATHROOMS AVAILABLE AT ANY RESTAURANT OR SHOP IN THE HAIGHT- AHSBURY NEIGHBORHOOD.*** This is my only complaint, but it wasn't specific to this restaurant. We tried multiple stores for over 45 minutes until we gave up and walked the two blocks down to the Panhandle to use the park restrooms prior to our tour.

We needed something quick to eat before heading to the airport. They were very friendly and accommodating and took our order quickly, advising me what I could have that was gluten free. I had the pad Thai, which was really good. Partner had a rice dish, which was so good too. Loved the decor, felt we were actually in Thailand! We were in and out within 20 minutes! Definitely a great place to eat Thai food if in the area. Reasonably priced too.

It was soooo good! Nice restaurant, nice staff and the food is just fantastic. I had the Hippie fried rice with Bbq chicken and it was fantastic!!

I visited San Francisco on vacation and found Hippie Thai online as I was walking around in this area. I am not an afficianado of Thai food, although I have eaten at recently eaten at several Thai restaurants in the Dallas area and Orlando. The staff at Hippie Thai are extremely friendly, outgoing and very festive in their tie-dyed t-shirts. They had a limited menu on the day I was there (4/20) which, by the way, was the not the reason that I was visiting the area and did not affect my opinion of the food :) even though I did walk through Hippie Hollow to momentarily relive the 70s and I didn't inhale! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao with chicken and a Thai Iced Tea. The Pad Kee Mao was spiced just right, had a terrific flavor and was served piping hot right. I fully intended to make it back and try their full menu, but time was not on my side, but if I do make it back to San Francisco, I will definitely visit them again. While not priced in the McDonald's range, if that is what someone is looking for, I thought their menu was reasonably priced.

My husband and I ate here on our journey through Haight Ashbury. We were served very quickly and our server had no problem answering questions about the menu. My husband had a thai beer, which he said was very good. I had the special of the day which had chicken and rice. It was very good. The fish sauce mixture that came on the side was very savoury and nice. They do have a little basket of freshly made hot sauces and one hot spice powder. I tried them all except the spice powder and wow these guys don't hold back on the spice level. They're not all melt your mouth, so there is a spice level for everyone. Unlike a lot of hot sauces, the hot feeling isn't the feature, it's an accessory to the complex and delightful flavour of the sauce itself. A lot of places make hot sauce just for the hot part, without remembering to make their sauce palatable. Hippie Thai focuses on making a nicely flavoured sauce, where the spicy hot is one of the many reasons why someone would enjoy it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is exactly like the name. I think "Hippie Thai" is a great name for this laid back restaurant.

For 10 dollar or so, I got the hippie that noodles house dish, it was tasty and inexpensive. It is close to the haight Ashbury junction, so you can plan accordingly. The service was functional.

One of the most delicious orders of pad kee mao I have ever tasted! I ordered it spicy and with tofu, and it was so flavorful and the perfect amount of spice.

We decided to give this place a try and we both got the Pad Thai meal. The soup and egg rolls were delicious as was the Pad Thai. My only issue was that I asked for no onions (I am allergic) and I had to pick some out of my dish. I also don't understand why I asked for water and got a tiny tin cup to drink from and the table next to us got pint glasses of water.

Happened to stop in & really enjoyed our meal. Very friendly staff, fast service & really enjoyed our meal. Started with the fried egg rolls. Enough to share, 5 of them cut into halves. Ordered chicken pad Thai & green chicken curry. Very authentic & delicious!! Happened to talk to couple next to us that live close by & they frequently eat here.

The server was nice and the food was tasty and well-prepared (I ordered the green curry). Good experience, although it felt comparable to the Thai food available in my city.

Wonderful Thai cuisine cooked to order with fresh ingredients and friendly service! Found it on trip advisor while visiting the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. So glad to have found this little spot!

We stopped here based on a recommendation from our tour bus guide. Located smack in the middle of the colourful Haight Ashbury district, this was a cool little place to stop in for a delicious lunch. Food was good, prepared fresh, arrived quickly. Service was very good. Funky little joint , great for a quick bite !

We wanted just something small so we shared a lunch combo. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend if you’re in the Haight Ashbury area of San Fran 👍

We had an excellent lunch at this place with authentic Thai food, very friendly people and reasonably priced.

Had the vegan Pad Woon Sen and Thai Ice Tea. Loved the atmosphere, and the great company. If into Thai, a must while in the bohemian area.

If you happen to be strolling the Haight and like Thai food, this is a decent choice. The dishes and quality are similar to what you'd find in whatever American city you hail from, but everything is fresh-made. Our server confused our order of pad vun sen with shrimp and brought out the dish with tofu (admittedly, nicely sauteed). When we sent it back, our serer returned it refreshed, with perfectly cook shrimp.

I got their version of Pho, and it's not the best pho I've ever had but it was still pretty good and had a pretty decent price. It is in a great location too.

Had a lovely lunch at Hippie Thai, good portions and everything cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere and very authentic.

We stopped in for a quick bite - loved it! Fresh, authentic and yummy. Great hole in the wall - maybe 10 tables. Staff was friendly and helpful. We like thai but still had questions about the menu - they were very helpful. Stop in if your visiting the Haight Ashbury area.

When I was a semi-resident of San Francisco about 10 or 11 years ago I used to frequent this location but it was called the King of Thai noodle back then, now I assume under new ownership it can still be called the king of Thai noodle because their soups have earned the title! I had my kway thieaw with the clear noodles (woon sen) and extra bean sprouts just how I like it! It was delicious, service was fast, efficient and attentive so I'll recommend this small spot to anyone looking to kill their Thai cravings while on Haight street!

We were starving and popped in out of desperation- what a lucky find! We had the pad thai w coconut soup. Delish.

I had a wonderfully tasty lunch, and would recommend it to anyone who likes Thai food. My friend and i really enjoyed our food.

If you want good food, and no-nonsense. This is one of the best places I can think of for fantastic Thai street food. I include all my Thai food experiences from Thailand as well as other countries. Definitely top 5 world wide. Nice quick service. Superb food, what else can one want??

Food was good. Service was ok. For pur group of 6 they applied a 20% gratuity onto the bill.we were not informed. There were no notes on the menu, wall , front door or from the server. We questioned it and tried to discuss and we said it was too high, after which the manager removed it from the bill. We still tipped but Not at 20% mandatory 'gratuity' Groups of 6 or more...... beware!

We stopped for a vegan lunch and were not disappointed. Food was fresh and flavorful. Prices were not too bad. Service was friendly and attentive. A good stop.

The best thing about the place is that it is open fairly late, which gives you an opportunity to soak up any alcohol you may have been imbibing on Haight just prior to searching for a place to fill your gullet. The food offered is reasonable enough but a tad overpriced for the quantity and quality you'll be getting. The dining room and kitchen are in the same room, the room being pretty small, it therefore gets pretty friendly inside and some elbow rubbing will take place if the restaurant is full. The wait staff is nice and tries to help, in my experience, though some of them speak less English than others. Bathrooms are a small disaster. Recommend? No... Acceptable in a pinch...Yes.

Lunch special...$13...for choice of appetizer, entree, soup, and salad. Bargain for SF. Plus...they were generous portions...and delicious. Friendly waitstaff. I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant.

We randomly stopped in here while walking through the Haight. The food was full of flavor and the staff was courteous. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Thai food.

Great authentic Thai food in a small cozy restaurant right in the heart of the Haight St area. Great location, budget friendly

We felt this Thai restaurant was one of the best we'd ever eaten at. Really interesting and unusual dishes plus the beautifully friendly service. If we lived in San Francisco we'd definitely be regulars.

Ordered delivery from here. Food arrived faster than time quoted from Eat24. Food was hot and fresh. Presentation of the fresh rolls could have been better as they were just wrapped in plastic wrap. I would recommend the roti if you have never tried it. A thin soft bread with condensed milk on top. I’m Thailand this is a popular street food and topped with items similar to crepes.

1st time here. On walk home from work I was really hungry. Staying away from Carbs, sugar and most dairy. Doesn't leave me a lot of options. So I tried the shrimp spring rolls. 2 rolls cut into 6 pieces $13.00 They said the shrimp was fresh, which it wasn't. And it was mostly non-existent in the rolls. Way too much lettuce. Peanut sauce was great (they make it themselves); place is really clean and service very nice. Don't think I will be returning.

Loooved the food and just the whole atmosphere! Would recommend everyone who likes Thai food to eat there!

We went at 4 pm on a Monday. 2 adults and 3 kids. We had a fabulous meal with really truly delicious food, all beautifully presented and extremely tasty The server was very courteous, helpful and friendly Service was prompt and the bill certainly was very reasonable

The food quality is adequate and the service is generally polite and always prompt. I find it a but expensive given the quality but then again, the prices in the area have all gone up significantly. I find the noodle soups to be the best.

I frequent this place, and it’s consistently good. The curries are delicious, and the brown rice is always perfect. There’s a good tea selection, too.

Fun little spot right on Haight Street. Charming employees, quirky decor, great Thai food 🇹🇭 Right in the heart if the Haight Ashbury district.

Hippie Thai is my favorite Thai place in SF, and maybe even my favorite place to eat in the entire city! The Pad Thai is HELLA good and the atmosphere is cool and casual in an ideal location. Even though I've been eating here religiously for over 8 months, I refrained from leaving a review before, because the service staff had been quite rude. I wanted to leave nothing less than 5 stars and a glowing review, which was impossible considering the mediocre service. Shoutout to Piyatida, the server who changed all that! Friendly and accommodating, she brought Hippie Thai to its full potential. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting the greatest city in the world.
Comfort fun
A storefront semiopen kitchen in this venerable neighborhood offers a large and tasty menu with friendly service and a wall map of places you went to or want to go to. High value, modest pricing, good enough to order additional food to take out for after at home. True to name, it’s hippie clientele and atmosphere. Enjoy!
