Excellent, authentic Chinese (not American Chinese)

Ho Ho is part of a locally owned and respected family of Chinese restaurants. Order with confidence.

Authentic Chinese Food

By Lynne_judy |

Can't say enough about the food, Peking Duck was fresh and all our dinners were delicious. Terrific dining, family friendly and great value. Large enough portions to share family style and still have leftovers. Excellent quality, speedy service.

Better than other Chinese Restaurants in Austin

By fountainhongkong |

Ho Ho is considered one of the better Chinese restaurants in Austin. They serve quite authentic Cantonese style Chinese food; but they also have Peking Duck and a few other Northern style dishes. Expect long queue during weekend, opt for early dinner. Highly recommend the following entrees, always very good: Beef with Chinese Broccoli, Fish Fillet with Plum Sauce, Walnut Shrimp, Pan Fried Flat Noodles with Beef, Eggplant with Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce, Live Lobster with Ginger and Onions, Combination Fried Rice. For BBQ plate, they have marinated chicken, roast duck and BBQ Pork. Sometimes the meats are tender but other times too done, so it's kind of hit or miss.Their soup is usually too salty. The Shrimp Won Ton Noodles is average at least to me; but my son loves it. Tables are set close to each other so the place is quite noisy when it's full; definitely not the place for romantic dinner. They have several large tables to accommodate party of 10 or 12. My only wish is the staff and owner will pay more attention to its cleanliness. Sometimes the chairs are sticky and the plates, chopsticks, cups are still wet when they set it down.

Authentic Chinese good

By Pocholoboy |

This authentic Chinese food restaurant offers a varied and delicious menu. I come here frequently for the food. Try the roast pork, salt pepper shrimp, or any of the succulent Chinese BBQ. Unfortunately, the follow through from the service staff is poor. Often times, they are too busy refilling soy sauce and condiments and ignore the needs of the diners. Plus, the male waiters always sound inconvenienced and mad, which is sad because the food is good. Just very impersonable male servers.

Good Food but Rude Staff

By John F |

My party of 4 went to Ho Ho for dinner recently and thought that the food was decent, pricing was fair, but that the servers were extremely rude. We arrived at about 6:30 p.m. on a Friday and were immediately seated. We ordered a few appetizers that were served fairly quickly but one of the appetizers was not what we had ordered (we ordered boiled wontons instead of fried). When we pointed the incorrect item out to the server, she gave a half smile and said "the fried ones taste the same" and walked off. We had each had ordered a different entrée and they arrived one at a time. The server placed each of them on the table without saying what dish was being delivered. When we asked, she looked and acted extremely annoyed as she told us what it was. We all thought that the food was decent and that the portions were fair for the price. We received our check shortly after receiving our meals and the servers and floor manager began giving us the "hurry up and finish then get the heck out of here" look long before we had finished our meals. There are too many good restaurant options in the area to put up with rude service. I would never recommend this restaurant and will not be back.

Inexpensive and High Quality Chinese Food

By DallasBigD |

You know that you are entering an authentic Chinese restaurant as soon as you walk in the front door. On one side of the front door are the roasted ducks hanging from racks and on the other side are the fish tanks containing the live seafood (cod, crabs, etc). My business associates and I ordered the lunch specials. The lunch specials are inexpensive ($6 - $8), and are served with an entree, egg roll and soup. We enjoyed the soups (hot and sour, egg drop and wonton) and the chicken entrees (sliced garlic and General Tso's). The entree was a large portion of food and can easily provide another leftover meal. Our waitress was succinct and the service was efficient and quick. I hope on visiting this restaurant on a future trip to north Austin.

Expect more everytime!

I am picky on Chinese food bc I am Chinese and I have had some amazing ones everywhere on our travels but as a local here we would love better Chinese food. And I know Ho HO's can do this but they are trying to skimp on ingredients to save money and that bugs me so :/ The tastes is spot on on almost every dish we order. Yes its not the best we have had but for Austin its pretty good. We always get 2 noodle dishes for the kids-the crunchy lomein-one seafood and the other combo-they are both really good BUT the combo one is HUGE and so worth the money. What disappointed us this time was the vegetable beef bc literally they only gave us 10 slices of very skimpy beef and for $9? I dont' think so. We aren't ones to complain but its just not right. Its hard ot share 10 pcs of beef :/ But the taste was good and yes you can still ladle the sauce over your rice to be full but please..And the shrimp w/lobster sauce, yes it was a new one to try and idk why I did, but it was a bad choice. Its small, w/a few big shrimp-yes at least its big-but just not that great. The taste is alright but expected more from here. All in all, another disappointing Chinese meal but hey its the best Austin can offer right? :( Of course we may come back bc there's all that's here plus its in our hood but really depends what you order here tho. I did take some charsiu to go and eaten fresh its really good-price-wise not the best but hey where else besides here and 2 other places can you get Chinese BBQ? Idk at least its not that dirty here compared to 1st Chinese which we loved but can't go back bc its dirty :( And its comparable to Dinho too. Another thing I didn't like this place is that if you paid cash they would comp you. That's kinda sneaky to me and we don't like that lol. But its popular and a hit and too busy to come weekend nights so that speaks for something. Just miss Houston Chinese food and esp. CA bad!!!

Great Chinese Food

By FrankVZ8521 |

REcently went to HOHO BBQ for dinner, and have to say the food was some of the best we have had in Austin. Genuine Chinese and good value for the money. The lobster and the Duck were outstanding, and the shrimp walnut was unbelievable. Always busy, service is great, just a great value for the money restaurant.

When there is hanging ducks, you know the food is good!

By Joana G |

This was a great place to eat. Food was excellent. I will definitely be back for more when I am in town. Authentic food.

Good food , inconsistent service

By Pocholoboy |

Ho Ho, despite the funny name, has some of the best authentic Chinese dishes in Austin. And their seafood selection is varied and fresh. The only drawback I experience each time is the lack of attention by the servers. My water never gets refilled, and I’ve been here several times.

Great food

By Dale W |

Have come here several times and I am glad they have resisted the tendency to tex-chinese the food. I like the subtly of the flavors. Staff is okay too.

Very authentic Cantonese restaurant

By areyoueye |

Very authentic Cantonese restaurant, surprised to find it here. It's good to have a few friends to come together so you can try out multiple dishes. The Beijing duck is very good, the seafood dishes are nice too. Services may not be the best you can get even for a Chinese customer .. wink ;)

The place I go for Christmas dinner

By Emil Gobersneke |

Been eating there for years and it's always nice when the staff recognizes me and asks if I'll have my favorite - which I usually do. Have never had a complaint or issue and I've probably eaten there well over a hundred times. Great selection and prices and outstanding service.

Authentic Chinese Food

By Chas096 |

In three months in Austin I have eaten here 3 times, all at the request of my family. Being a Chinese food junkie, finding "real" Chinese food so close was a blessing. We go for BBQ and soup primarily and have enjoyed every bite. Two dishes will feed 3 people

Good food, but rude staff. They also use old, half-eaten rice for fried rice

By PoopRocks |

Ho Ho Chinese BBQ used to be our family's favorite restaurant in Austin. They had good food at a good value. But now, we have grown tired of the consistently rude staff and the miserly management. We've noticed a decline in food portions, a decrease in service quality, and an increase in prices. First, they used the leftover rice that people leave behind for their fried rice. They don't care what people have done to it; it just goes into a tub for them to reuse in fried rice dishes. This is really inappropriate since they will charge you for extra rice. So take your extra rice home to make sure they can't get to it. They do charge extra for a rice refill now. You only get as much as the waiter decides is appropriate based on what you ordered, and the lady with the hair in a bun, if she's looking, will tell them to give you less. It's quite unusual for an authentic Chinese restaurant to be so stingy with the rice. In fact, when we asked them about the charge, the cashier lady told us "if you're going to complain, then don't come back again". I think we will take her up on that advice. The staff is rude as well. The waiters mostly ignore you and you have to wave them down and speak up to get their attention. That is, until they you pay- and then they start to pay attention to you.

Good food but terrible service and poor hygiene - I am eating elsewhere

By tqdesign |

I HAD been going here for about 4 years and really enjoyed the food. It is authentic Chinese food and you can't go wrong with the dishes - except the service and the hygiene of the servers is enough to make you question, "why am I eating here? It's not worth it getting sick." For example, the servers touch their nose, face then grab your dish and bring it to you. Gross. Observing that once is "OK" but after repeated visits, I don't think it is worth getting ill. If you decide to eat there, ask to sit on the right side. For some reason the servers on the left side really don't care if you eat there or not. Poor service along with poor hygiene forced me to eat elsewhere. Fortunately Austin has a lot of options now with so many people moving into the area.

food excellent but poor service

By TNGsWorld |

Food is very good. Service is always abrupt. Ho Ho really needs to hire more servers and staff more to be on the floor at all times. We've been dining here for several years and have only had one good service in all the times we've dined here. For a large parties, 10% discount if you pay in cash. Favorite dishes here are fried tofu, clams sauteed with black bean sauce or ginger & onion sauce, ginger & scallion steamed flounder, crab & white asparagus soup, and shrimp wonton soup.

Decent

By ping z |

Features cantonese food and it's original. Try seafood and vegetable. One of the best chinese resturants in Ausitn.

Enjoy a good meal.

By Piter_Londono |

There is good variety of dishes available and the selection is delicious. it is a place to visit often when in the neighborhood.

very authentic Hunan and Mandarin cuisine

By David W |

Very authentic Chinese for lunch or dinner. Good value in the lunch menu. Excellent Mu Gu Gai Pan and egg drop soup. Menu is written in Chinese characters. Much of the clientele is Asian so you can be sure it is authentic.

Best Asian food!

By liz_tridelta |

The BEST Asian food I’ve ever had! Pan fried beef noodles and Duck fried rice were phenomenal. Prices are extremely reasonable!

amazing meal

By gappel |

Ho Ho is about 20 minutes north of downtown, but well worth an easy drive. i live outside manhattan, with a well-known chinatown, but the selections and creative dishes at Ho Ho outdid any Chinese meal i've ever had. Big restaurant, wonderfully friendly, but truly outstanding Chinese food - should be a 'must-do' on a visit to Austin, TX

Ho Ho is really only so so

By Norman M |

I was in Austin for business and met cousin here for dinner since it was new and he had not tried it yet. This restaurant used to be a different place like a Denny's or something because the layout looks familiar and you can tell it was not build new. When you walk in, they have a small BBQ stand up front where you can do take out. We sat at a booth and looked over the menu. The menu is very large and there are a lot of choices. We ordered a BBQ plate, salted squid, oysters and some vegetables. The food started coming out after 10 minutes and after a bit we had everything. While it was decent, I would not say it was great or good. It was pretty average. I live in Houston and we have a very large Chinatown, so this cannot even compare to how good it is in Houston. It still is a decent choice for a town limited on real Chinese food.

Every time we're in Austin!

By Robyn L |

From what I'm told, this is the real deal and very authentic. I don't care what it is...it's delicious and amazing! Every single thing I've eaten here is fantastic. This time, we had the walnut shrimp, sizzling plate beef, sesame chicken, egg rolls, wantons, bbq pork fried rice and some other stuff. I don't even remember what it was, but I ate it and it was great. I love how you can order several different things and they bring it all out to the giant lazy susan on the table and you can spin it around for everyone at the table to share. For all the food we eat, the prices are very reasonable. The quality of the food is well worth it! We go every time we are in the area!

Yummy!!

By Jessica D |

Awesome Chinese BBQ.... had the pork and duck and dumplings...was super yummy! Would definitely go back

Great authentic Chinese foods

By Muji R |

Ho Ho is a great place to find authentic Chinese BBQ and other specialty dishes. Our favorites are the BBQ pork and their variety of noodles.

Great choice for Chinese BBQ in town.

By Manny C. |

We dined in the restaurant for a simple supper. They served authentic Cantonese cuisine and are well known for BBQ. Their food was satisfying. It's just a very busy place that we had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated, but lots of people came to pick up take-outs too.

Best Chinese Restaurant Ever!

By S Sander |

I have eaten almost everything on the menu and have not found anything I didn't like. Long time customer and fan

Great affordable place

By jagm65 |

This is my go-to place for a quick affordable lunch. They have a great lunch menue with soup, egg roll, rice and main course at a great price. You can also order from the full menu, ala cart.

Great Food and Huge Selection

By Matt J. |

Great food and huge selection. Old restaurant, but some of the most authentic Chinese food in Austin. I've tried a lot of different items, haven't been disappoint. Place can get really busy, only thing to consider.

Excellent Chinese

By ET385 |

Excellent Chinese. Very crowded. Staff is overwelmed and abrupt with customers. Excellent food with large quantity at a good price.

Terrible Customer Service!!!!

By Chris S |

Mr Li who is the guy at the register gave us are really bad customer service and attitude. My wife, daughter and I decided to pick this restaurant for lunch and agreed to meet at 11:30 am. My wife arrived first and was ask by Mr Li for how many for a table and my wife said 3 but the other 2 are on their way. Mr Li said sorry you have to wait until your party is complete. She had to wait outside until all of us arrived. I asked Mr Li why she was not let to have a table and sit. He claimed that they are super busy when I hardly see any customer and there were no waiting lines.

Good selection at reasonable prices .

By docwhiteaustin |

Our family of four opted for this place fairly late after a school activity and were all pleased with our selections. The pan fried noodles with combination meats was a huge platter of tasty crunchy noodles with an assortment of seafood and meats in a nice garlicky and gingery brown sauce that was not too heavy or overwhelming. The flat rice noodles with beef and Chinese broccoli was also delicious. Portions were generous, flavors all individually suited to the components of each dish and service satisfactory though not really outstanding. Good value for well-prepared entrees.

Best Chinese in Austin

By Yadeira B |

The authenticity and variety is unparalleled in Austin. The bbq pork is a must. Every dish I have tried has been great. Don't be torn off by the hanging duck and huge seafood tanks.

Good food

By vivacubalibre50 |

I went last saturday for lunch.....too busy!, i have to wait for about 30 minutes to get my food to go, the flavor was good and the portion was good also.

Excellent food

By margaretc007 |

We had the roast duck which was excellent. Very authentic Chinese and very extensive menu. Service was very efficient. But beware of the check when it comes. It only gives you the final total which included the tax. I tip on the total of the food bill NOT including the tax. So, make sure you get the itemized bill before you figure out the tip.

Live animals and little service.

By Kristin |

Came here for lunch with my husband, and the servers were slow. Sat there for the longest time waiting for our drink order. We decided to order our meal with the drinks in hopes of getting it faster. Which didn't work. The food was good but we won't return. They have cooked ducks hanging by there necks when you walk in, which didn't sit well for me.. And a large wall of tanks with live fish and shellfish to choose from.

Good food while traveling

By onebigfamily |

We were in town for a soccer tournament and needed a late night meal and decided to try as it was near hotel. Food was plentiful and good priced right. Large variety of meals to order. We got our food to go and it was still hot. The girls had enough to last until the next day. If in area would come back.

Best Chinese food I've had in a long time

By Caligirlinak |

Anyone who has ever been to an authentic Chinese restaurant would know that it's very common to have live seafood and roasted duck hanging in the restaurant. Food was wonderful, and the timing of getting your food was FAST! Yes ambience and friendliness of staff is not at its best, but who cares, food was awesome. Take my word for it, you need to try this place out, this coming from a person who is half Asian and grew up in Asia! I'll be back each time I visit Austin.

Terrible customer service and dirty

By Teondecorum |

We ordered $88 dollars worth of lobster for take out and was about to tip $10 until they wanted to charge us 25 cents for a foam to-go plate. They blamed it on inflation! The customer service is terrible and the whole restaurant looks like a warehouse. Very dirty. Needless to say, no tip!

Authentic, amazing Chinese

By Jessica H |

Holy cow. Best Chinese food in Austin. My entire Chinese family agrees we haven't had better. It's worth the drive out to Parmer lane. We had Chinese broccoli, hot and sour soup, fried rice, pan fried noodles w chicken, general tsos chicken, sesame chicken, orange tofu, sesame tofu, sea bass filet, duck, orange beef, snow pea leaves.... And probably more I can't remember. Nothing disappoints! The food is fresh fast cheap and DELICIOUS!!! I could eat here every day. Tip: you get 10% off if you pay cash and have a party of at least 5, they take reservations

Q, Chinese style

By barretta |

Authentic, so fresh some of the fish and crabs are displayed alive! Crispy pork. Crispy duck. Singapore Noodles. The service is okay, but the food is marvelous. In a shopping center parking lot on the west side of I-35. Take a bunch of friends, get a big round table with a lazy susan at its center, start with a pot of Sweet and Sour Soup, and go from there. Order to share around.

Rude service, mean staffs

By lovehutto |

The foods and prices not bad at all, good location, manager was ok, but most staffs were so mean to us, every time we ask for some thing like: spoon, napkin, more water...etc... staffs always gave us a hard time.

Austin Chinese food heaven. Just like in NYC or LA Chinatown.

By MADWORKER |

If you moved to Austin, or if you are just visiting, from NYC or LA, and you want to get the same experience of Chinese food, then this is the place. I actually went here with a fellow Chinese co-worker and got to order stuff not even in the menu. So this review may be a little skewed, unfair, as I got to eat stuff that others might not be able to. Regardless, I also tried other menu items and they did not disappoint. Do no let the BBQ name get to you. It is not a Texas BBQ, it is a Chinese BBQ. Food is just great. Try their Beijing Duck.

Great Chinese BBQ 🍗

By Joshua B |

An authentic Chinese restaurant for Chinese BBQ. The restaurant is very nice and has a great selection of Chinese BBQ meats. You can buy BBQ meat and take home, or you can have it in the restaurant. The menu has a great selection of assorted dishes. The food is delicious and tasty. Their wanton soup is amazing!!! The dishes are large size and nicely plated. Service was average.

Come for the Food - Not the Atmosphere

By Chris500 |

I had dinner here for the first time on 05/27/17. I arrived around 6:30 p.m. and there was quite the line at the front door. We were seated within about 15 minutes. The place was packed with families at round tables who were ordering large amounts of seafood, rice and other delicious appetizers. Service was quick and friendly, but they are so busy it was hard for the wait staff to keep up and once the food came, you hardly saw them again. We ordered steamed fish and it was very good. I recommend it. We made the order for one .. they have it on the menu for about $70, but that's for a large group. We also ordered soup and it was OK to my liking, but I didn't finish it. Next we ordered the fried rice with everything. It was not too oily and was very hot and delicious as well. Overall, I was pleased and the meal for two was $35 including tax but not tip. This place is not fine dining. Casual wear is best. Come for the food!

Authentic Cantonese cuisine

By Pocholoboy |

Delicious Chinese BBQ in Austin - duck, and pork. Menu includes many authentic dishes, which are all expertly prepared by Chinese chefs. Service sometimes can be spotty, but the food is consistently flavorful and cooked right.

Bland and tasteless Chinese food

By Dawn S |

I am not sure how so many people think this is a great Chinese restaurant. We picked up and I am glad we did. Restaurant has no ambiance. The pot stickers were deep fried and not pan fried, as menu stated. Roast pork and duck were very fatty. Combination fried rice borders between no taste and bad tasting. We live in an area rich in asian restaurants and this is the worst by far.

Great Chinese

By Rachel V |

Ho Ho has some of the best Chinese food around. The food is not only a great value, it is very good. The service leave a little to be desired but it appears that the staff has limited English.

Very good chinese food

By carlosvelascoteran |

I went to Austin for the USA Formula 1 Grand Prix. We (party of four) went to Ho Ho Chinese BBQ on 10/21/2016. We got a table in less than 10 minutes. Food was very good and plenty.

Best in town--bar none, no argument

By austintomtraveler |

Consistently fresh, tasty, well-prepared, sumptuous and authentic, HoHo is worth the drive to IH35 and Parmer for a meal that will satisfy your palate as well as your pocketbook. From fresh seafood (flown in regularly from the coast) to roast duck, roast pork, and a sweet BBQ that doesn't allow for leftovers, this restaurant--primarily Hong Kong with touches of other places--never disappoints. Go there. You will leave full and will take some home for lunch tomorrow!

two years later and still good!

By Lynne_judy |

We revisited this restaurant recently and we were not disappointed. Yes it is a busy place and can be noisy but we enjoyed the atmosphere and the authentic food, a true cultural experience packed with locals and family, and folks that is how you know the food is great! Be sure to share all the portions as they are huge, always plenty for leftovers.......Service very quick and accommodating. As close to Chinatown in NYC, San Fran or Ontario Canada that you will ever experience. Try to beat the rush before 6PM and ask for a booth.

Real Chinese food in Austin

By Maxito1938 |

Finally, having come to Austin, a little over a year ago, from New York, we found a real Chinese food restaurant that can be truly compared to any restaurant in New York's China Town. A good sign is that, when we visited them last Sunday with the family, most of the tables we occupied by Far Easterner diners. Their food is very tasty served in an appetizing manner and prices are very accessible. A must go when in Austin!!

Ho Ho = Yum Yum!!

By vantine8665 |

One of the best menus in Austin for authentic Chinese cuisine. Get off the beaten menu, and explore Ho Ho's for something new. Definitely try the crispy roast pork/roast duck with rice buns and pickled cabbage!!!

Really is great

By Bfick |

My wife and I love this place. 1st time we went I was a little disappointed with the service but the food was amazing so we went back again. Have been there multiple times now and everything has been great.

Go for the Food, Not the Atmosphere or Service

By Marshall T |

I had lunch here and the food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the service is a little abrupt and the restaurant is a little shabby. I had the lunch portion of sesame chicken which came with soup, egg roll and fried rice. A good deal at $7.95.

Rude and bad food

By Daniel T |

I went to eat Chinese food with my wife and son and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had......The tall woman waitress with a manly face was so rude. I ask questions and she answers rudely and acts as if I'm bothering her. I ask about the egg rolls because in Texas it's hard to find real authentic egg rolls like in Miami. The ones here are actually spring rolls not egg rolls. I ordered won ton soup for a starter, and the rude waitress brought my chicken first and my wife and son didn't get their food, I didn't even get my rice. I said the soup is supposed to come first and she was even more rude. The remainder of my time there she came once, never checked on us and I was even polite and said thank you when she finally brought the rice 15 minutes later, and she ignored me and turned away very rude. Do not eat here as the food is not even good, and you deal with INATTENTIVE servers and they are so rude.

Authentic, fresh and delicious; great service

By Traveler123987 |

This was our first visit. The waiter was paatient and very courteous and thoughtful. He refilled our iced tea, asked about our meal, mentioned that we selected some of the mos popular dishes, and was, overall, very pleasant and effective. The port wonton and noodle soup was simply outstanding in every respect. The eggplant and ground pok hot pot was delicous as well. The combination barbeque platter reflected that all of Ho-Ho's barbeque offerings were top notch. We are looking forward to our next visit. Great food and very reasonable prices!

The best Chinese food around

By Paulette M |

This is a gem that is a place we travel over an hour to get to from our house. The veggies are super-fresh, and cooked to perfection, and the roasted duck is the best i've had! We haven't had a bad dish yet...the eggplant hot pot, roasted pork, shrimp with veggies, all superb. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it, but if you're looking for great Chinese food, this is the place!

Great place for small group of people who want to try Chinese food!

By Amy C |

Authentic Chinese food and fast services! Roasted duck and BBQ pork are my favorite. Family style dining is the best way to try different dishes here. If you have only one or two people, their noodle soup is good for one person.

Aveage Chinese Restaurant Lunch Visit - didn't try B.B.Q. and will reserve judgement

By Mohsman |

Went here with my wife at the recommendation of another (Japanese restaurant) chef we respect. We were told the Chef (?owner) of Ho Ho was a former chef at Din Ho, an Austin Chinese Restaurant we very much like. Ho Ho is located on the north side of Austin next to I35 in a self-standing building. The decor is rather plain except for the very large aquaria containing live crab, lobster, bass, shrimp, and other fish. The hostess was not particularly friendly and we somewhat taken aback that neither bus-woman could speak any English - only Spanish (I wanted her to clear a Coke can I had brought in.) Because we came for a late lunch/snack, we could not order enough dishes to truly evaluate the food quality, so my wife and i want to reserve judgement. She had the pot stickers, which were a bit doughy, but otherwise at least average. I ordered the hot pot with egg plant and shredded pork (my favorite at Din Ho) and it was not as good. The eggplant pieces were quite large and under cooked - but it was still very very good and I ate all of it. The place is known for fresh seafood and B.B.Q. and I intend to return for dinner with more guests to give the place a second and more thorough evaluation.

Sensory overload, in a good way!

By Scott S |

My wife and I met our son and his girlfriend for lunch this weekend. They had been bragging about this place but it was our first visit. You walk in and there is live seafood (crab, lobster, etc.) in tanks on your right and smoked food, whole duck, chicken, pork on your left. The carnivore in me started to drool. I ordered the combination platter, which was $14.95 and it came with duck, chicken, and pork. Just the meat...which was fine with me. (Community rice bowl was on the table). I left with a fully sated tummy and enough leftovers for two more meals. It was very tasty. I was always thrown by the name of the place, thinking it was a "Mongolian BBQ" place, but it is nothing of the sort. At 1:15pm on a Saturday, it was a 20 minute wait, and it was just as crowded when we left. There was a high ratio of Asian:Caucasian customers, which might speak to its authenticity. I can only speak to it's taste, which was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure our iced tea carafe was never less than half empty. The prices were more than fair. My wife had a noodle dish that she was not overjoyed with. Says she will be anxious to try something off the more traditional part of the menu next time.

Some of The Best Chinese We've Ever had

By Richard F |

One of the best Chinese meals we've ever had. We were visiting family and when it was time to eat we all said let's get Chinese. We decided it would be nice to get take out and eat at home. So we went to their web site and picked out four different dishes and hot n sour soup to share. When we arrived to pick up the order it wall all packed up really nice in a big cardboard box. We got one seafood, one chicken, one pork and one order of Moo-goo. Came with two large containers of rice, two large containers of soup and utensils. We also got an order of Won-tan. Everything was scrumptious and it was so much food that we had leftovers for later. We hope to go back and try some of the BBQ Duck and maybe some live seafood. The whole duck is hanging in the warming place and they have tanks of live seafood, lobster, crab, shrimp, etc. This is a first class operation so if you like Chinese, you'll love this place.

Authentic

By carobb53 |

Fresh, excellent and close by. Huge menu, live seafood to choose from and peking duck

authentic Chinese cuisine

By mamaklassen |

We just had a wonderful meal at this local Chinese restaurant. As you walk in, there are hanging racks of smoked ducks and large tanks holding the seafood soon to be dinner. I had the Prawns with Special Salt, which was perfectly cooked with crispy seasoned shells. Hubby had sizzling scallops..also delish. Highly recommend for authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices.

Delicious

By Luv W |

We order the barbecue chicken and pork , the house vegetables, and sea bass. I was disappointed that the sea bass was deep fried but it wasn't greasy so I ate it anyways. It was delicious. The house vegetables were fresh and flavorful. I would definitely return to Ho Ho Chinese

Great Food!! Huge menu!!

By David B |

Ho Ho has a huge menu, if it's your first time, it may be a bit overwhelming. But if you get lucky enough to get Pearl as your server, she, you'll be in Great hands. The seafood is Very fresh, tanks if lobster, crab, and prawn as you enter as well as ducks hanging in the window. Highly recommend the barbecue pork and roast duck with steamed rolls.

Great food; would like to go at a slower time

By TropicalLover |

We went to Ho Ho for Thanksgiving. We are visiting from out of town and our daughter's friend recommended this place. The food was excellent and they tried to meet our needs, but it was extremely busy and there were several large family groups. The take-out line was out the door the entire time and many were picking up pre-ordered turkeys and ducks. The menu eas very extensive and it would be nice to go back and try some other options at a slowe time. Maybe next visit ti Texas!

Average Food and Expensive

By TrueTexasTraveler |

Ho Ho's food is just average. I had the BBQ and it was bland. The orange chicken was okay, but nothing better than decent. At $16 an entree, both are overpriced for quantity, taste and quality. The service was very slow.

service was awful

I wish I could give them a "zero". I have been going there more than 15 years. We followed them from research blvd. Their service is so terrible, I don't think we will go back. I went there last Wed after 1:30pm. We have five people, they put us in a very small table. I asked for a bigger table, they said "NO" without any reason. It is passed lunch time rush, the place was very empty. After our dishes came, there is no room for all the dishes, we order a hot pot. It is very unsafe. So I asked we could move to a different table because it is so unsafe. Our server told us to "Move it yourself". I asked to spoke with the manager, was told "No Manager". I left voice mail later, no one care to call back. So keep your money, go somewhere else for a better experience.

Rip off

The place could be great but the staff is incredibly rude and the seafood is shockingly overpriced. I normally love traditional ethnic restaurants and am willing to sacrifice service for high quality food but this restaurant missed the mark.

One of the best!

The wonton soup, special fried rice and crispy fried shrimp in shells were excellent.

So-so

It wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful either. My BBQ pork Lomein was bland and lacked flavor. I added some sweet and sour sauce to give it a little flavor.
