Lived up to the Hype

By Katy M |

First, make a reservation for the start of the service and then order the burger. No exaggeration, the burger is the juiciest, cheesiest, most delicious burger I've had in my life (and I'm something of a burger snob). The deviled egg trio was fabulous too. I was a little skeptical to be honest, but the food lived up to the hype Nd the prices are easy to digest too. I will be back a few times a year to make the pilgrimage to burger greatness.

Overpriced

By PelleasPhiladelphia |

There were some good things but all overshadowed by their $40 steak frites which was just a thin fatty flank steak which should have cost $19. Decent atmosphere, unfocused menu, unsure waiter, fun country ham tasting, good shoshiti peppers with hummus.

Excellent Service with very good eclectic food

By trojans |

While helping my son and his wife with their two young children, when my son was working late, I wanted to take my daughter-n-law out for a nice supper---with the two little ones in tow. We called Holeman & Finch asking if they welcomed young children and were told that yes, they did and that they would sit us at a nice booth. We opted to go early, 5:30. We valet the car and were immediately greeted by a great hostess team who welcomed us and lead us to our table. The hostess asked if we would need a booster / high chair for our 16-month-old---of which we did. The 7 weeks old was sound asleep in his car seat that we slid into the booth. As I was struggling a bit getting my granddaughter into the high chair our waiter, Obie (sp?) came immediately to the rescue. He stepped right in, lifting my granddaughter into the chair and then picked up the chair and slid it close to my daughter-n-law. It was such a help to have someone seeing we needed assistance without having to ask or hope... The menu is eclectic and seasonal but I knew they were known for their hamburgers. We ordered drinks---a blackberry shrub drink that was absolutely refreshing and delicious...so much so that we each ordered two. We opted to start with a charcuterie board that Obie explained that most folks when it's just two, would opt for two types of meat and two types of cheeses. We went with his suggestions. All were great...even down to the pickled asparagus that my granddaughter actually tired. We next had an order of fried squash blossoms. They were good---not as good as what I've had in Italy, but for the US, very good. We ordered the 16-month-old the Crunchy Gentleman---their version of a Croque Monseiur...three cheeses and ham melted to perfection nestled between two perfectly toasted pieces of thick bread. My daughter-n-law and I both opted for the hamburgers and yes, they were good but we both decided on our next visit we'd try the trout and chicken. Desserts were seasonal and fresh---not too heavy...just perfect. Our waiter was the best, the service perfect, the food very very good and we felt very welcomed despite having two under two in tow. Can't wait to go back and take my husband!

Great Burger

By BorninFlorida |

We were lucky enough to have Coccie wait on us. She moves and carries herself like a ballet dancer. The burgers were as good as I expected. They had some really weird stuff on the menu that I did not try, but the people sitting next to us did, and they loved it

Gone is what made this restaurant special

By Olen B |

This eatery used to specialize on eccentric offal dishes and has been "dumbed down" to a limited menu of mainstream - yet overpriced - offerings. The restaurant has completely lost its charm and focus. The food is still good. But, there is nothing that sets the restaurant apart from other quality eateries. So sad...Management has chosen a path that guarantees obliviance.

OVERATED!

By Gerald G |

I live in the northern burbs of Atl but this place had been on my radar for quite some time and I finally got to visit yesterday. I am a true foodie so I was looking for try exotic bites that awaited me at H&F! First off our waiter was terrible! He wanted to take out food order before even offering a drink. Then he only took half of our table of 7's drink order and vansihed. Next when asked to explain the sister restaurant and the background of the chef owner he couldn't do it and didn't even try. Next he told us the number one item to try was the nads and we were looking foward to that adventure! A few minutes later he said they were out! ( we got there as soon as they opened for dinner so how he could not know this before recommending it was not good!! ) We tried many items and my review of each is as follows Deviled eggs - good not great Brains - not good at all! Huge disappointment ( had very Strange aftertaste Peppers - too spicy to eat and I love spicy stuff! Johnycakes - like going to Cracker Barrel Snapper - good Meats and cheeses - excellent Duck - excellent Squash - poor .weird taste! Overcocked and tasted like grease Other notables on our waiter - we asked if he could recommend some signiture cocktails - he turned it right back on us by asking what we like. Borrow line - great disappointment! Will not be back

Happy Valentine's

First visit on a holiday and the service, food and drinks were prefect. We tried a few different items that were delicious. But we had to have the burgers. They were yummy. It is a must try if you like burgers plus different foods

Upscale Pub

By BixUS |

So a Public House conjures up an image of ancient wood furniture and beer puddles. But this couldn't be more different. Great appetizers and hearty fare are on their menu but they could even accommodate the gluten intolerant in our group. The steak tartare came highly recommended by the server and was creamy with a raw egg yolk and herbs on top - all scooped up with fresh kettle cooked chips. A clam noodle soup with curry was a great riff on an Asian beef noodle soup. The broth was dark and flavorful - we used every last crumb of bread to mop it up. Finally there was a buffalo-style fried chicken skin with shaved celery and a buttermilk dip.... a bit too spicy for me but others in the group loved it. Our resident burger aficionado loved the cheeseburger. But none of us ventured into the organ meats, etc. The venue was on the loud side but we didn't mind albeit I bet some reviewers would complain. Great place (but not our favorite in this amazing city of food)

A cocktail bar with pretty good burgers

By Matt M |

Everyone has heard about the famous burgers of Holeman and Finch. I always felt that it would be fun to go if I had the time, but it wasn’t a priority for me to go out of my way to get one. It was especially inconvenient because I was told that you need arrive two or three hours early, just to get a taste of the infamous burger. I was content to leave well enough alone and figured I would go in on a Sunday you know if I was in the area. When I saw Chef Hopkins score a country ham and create a Shaved Country Ham with Asparagus Salad on The Mind of a Chef, I started crushing on his food big time. It occurred to me that H&F could be about more than just burgers. I needed to check it out immediately. It turn out it is much more than just burgers. In fact I am of the opinion that the burgers are a distraction, like a magician, the burgers are a form of food misdirection. The burgers bring in the audience, a gaggle of burger thrill-seekers mixed with the proselytizing burger proletariat. But when you sit and are presented with the menu it is painfully obvious that this is not a burger joint. Faster than Admiral Akbar can yell, “it’s a trap!” you’ve fully committed your evening schedule to spend the next couple of hours in what is clearly a hipster cocktail bar disguised as a restaurant with ham hanging from the rafters. At least my beard will go over well here. My wife and I begin chirping lines between each other. “The chicken is a heritage breed, woodland raised chicken. That’s been fed a diet of sheep’s milk, soy and hazelnuts.” We are out of our element, and we haven’t binged watched enough episodes of Portlandia to feel completely comfortable. We look at the drink menu and just kind of point and grunt at our choices. Our server looks at us with understanding and concern. He reminds me of my resident advisor when I was a freshman back in college. My RA returns with what he calls “drinks” but they clearly don’t look like it. My glass contains a big spheroid masquerading as ice. It’s strangely beautiful. I start to feel a little bit of nervousness and my expectation begin to soar. A bar tender that looks like she belongs at PDT, gazes at her masterpiece as it touches my lips waiting for my reaction. I start to get a little clammy and begin to sweat. What if I don’t meet her expectations? What am I looking for here in terms of taste? Will this really nice bartender, just be another person in a long line of people that have been disappointed with me in my life? I took a cautious swig of the swill. Life changing. I’m not sure what the look was, but that’s what I felt inside. In that moment I determined that the best course of action for the rest of my life was to sell everything I own and make simple syrup from scratch in my kitchen. Confined to my self-made bar I would sustain myself on only the finest of homemade victuals and libations. The bar tender looked pleased. It was then that I noticed the meats. Aged meats and cured hams hanging in a glass room. How did I miss that? It’s right there at the entrance? I want all the Charcuterie please! Bring me some of those deviled eggs as well. Why not some fancy fried chicken skins while we are at it? I have a spot alongside the back wall with an unobstructed view into the kitchen. The sous chef starts throwing things at me. “Try this popcorn man!” I have ordered everything on the menu, and I am in the middle of an effort to try every drink on the menu. That’s when they start yelling things. Okay it’s time for burgers. I had forgotten that I put my name on a list for a burger. What was I thinking? I secretly start to hope that it will take a bit of time to finish these burgers because I am seriously stuffed and imbibed. I watch these guys get to work. Now it all makes sense. I totally get why they wait until the very end of the night to serve these burgers. It’s a matter of production, attention to detail and workload. You can’t make more than the allotted amount. It logistically has to be 24 burgers at one time. As they start constructing the burgers my wife and I look at each other, we should have ordered one and split it. Why did we order two?!? I know I can’t eat a whole burger. I pretend that I can. There is a lot of pride at stake. I feel like I might be letting the staff down if I don’t take this burger to the woodshed. The burgers of course are beautiful and they taste amazing. Of all the things I have sampled throughout the evening they are at the bottom of the list of most the mind-blowing things on the menu. The famous burgers at Holeman and Finch aren’t even the best thing on the menu. That’s the summation of the cuisine. The burgers are top-notch. But in a crowded gourmet burger market being on the same level as Shake Shack, isn’t exactly something to strive for. I can walk in to Farm Burger and short order bone marrow on my cheeseburger. So the distance that separates the best burgers from good burgers is slowly getting smaller. The burgers are not what make H&F so good. The burgers bring in the crowd of course, it gets their name out and they are amazing. But they do everything else so much better. Going to H&F for just a burger is like going to watch the Patriots play because of Tom Brady and totally disregarding that the whole team won the Super Bowl. I suppose if you would visit PDT for their hotdogs than by all means check out H&F for its burgers. The bar is the star of the show at H&F. The drink menu is legit. The small servings of reimagined comfort foods are creative. A year later I find myself thinking, “I need to go to H&F” not because of the burgers, but because of everything else (mostly the cocktails). Holeman and Finch has evolved into an amazing cocktail bar with outstanding food.

Larger "tapas" style restaurant

By ATL-travel71 |

We had expected a little less formal than what we got at Holeman and Finch because I'd see reviews about burgers and such. Other than the one burger they seem to be famous for that doesn't appear on the menu, they are really an upscale small plate tapas kind of place. They don't have latin dishes, but the style of the menu is tapas. Our experience was kind of weird as well because it was very upscale, but quite a few people with small children were dining there. It all kind of seemed like it didn't mesh well together. The food we had was good, but priced high as expected for an upscale place.

Gastropub Goodness

By OmeyTheHomey |

New to Atlanta and was in search of a spot with good food and drinks in a casual setting. This place did not disappoint. I tried several items on the menu (fried oysters, chicken liver pate, clams, shrimp, fried catfish, bone barrow, and the sticky toffee pudding ). Everything was really good, but the highlights were certainly the bone marrow and sticky toffee pudding . I've eaten a lot of bone marrow, but none prepared this way and the sticky toffee putting was unbelievable! I was happy to see several Ipas on the menu and the cocktail list looked really good too. A small place, but one good for a date or meet up with friends. Surly not to be missed. Enjoy!

Gastronomic exploration

By AtlantaLadybugBarb |

This place isn't for those who always want the same old same old. They specialize in small batch beers and other alcohols, they like to be creative with food - especial anything in the 'innards' category. I LOVE the adventure of it all. It's fun to eat at the group table in the restaurant side, or cram into the bar area and stake out a spot too.

Good food, but service and ambiance so-so

By amerikajin777 |

I went here about three weeks ago after it being hyped to the gills. Just for full disclosure, i was there alone (on a business trip) and was seeking to try a few small plates and have a leisurely dinner. Therefore, I have no idea whether this burger is really the second coming or not. The restaurant space is SHOCKINGLY small. Realistically, they only have about 30 seats outside of the bar. The bar itself really could only fit maybe 20 people? So if it's a busy night and you don't have a reservation, good luck! The menu is very interesting; lots of offal (sweetbreads, brains etc) and some interesting preparations. I asked my waiter what are his favorites and he helped to narrow some things down for me. The brains were really good, the testicle was meh. The dessert (panna cotta) was super bland and not sweet at all - i honestly think that they forgot any type of sweetener because it didn't really taste like much of anything at all. Realistically, the service and ambiance keeps me from rating this one higher. First, it was a cold night, but the waitstaff seemed to have zero recognition of that. Every two seconds, someone was going out the backdoor for a smoke or a phone call - often holding it open. That meant that I (and many of my fellow diners) kept getting these supper cold blasts, which really ruined it for me. The other issue that i had was in timing. I get that 'small plates' restaurants often don't stagger things in courses, but i asked specifically for them to not serve me more than one course at a time. Like clockwork though, i got all three small plates at the same time. So it was either stuff my face fast or eat a leisurely (cold) meal.

Awesome food!

By ajg14 |

We got the bone marrow which as phenomenal, and took a shot of whiskey out of the bone (suggested by our server)! It was awesome. We also ordered the burger, which was unbelievable. For real- order the Buber and don't put up a fight when they tell you that all the burgers are med-well. Just trust them. I also ordered lamb testicles, which had frisée on it, much too acidic for my personal taste. The butternut squash risotto was pretty good, but I'd order about 3 more servings of the bone marrow if I go back. We sat in the bar, and had great service. The bill, with 4 drinks and 4 small dishes was $135, which is pricey but I'm glad we went. I would define lay return

Trendy and a little bit snooty.

By Bigdealsam111 |

This is an interesting place that was filled with young professionals. Rustic décor with an unusual layout. Kitchen facilities are in full view (nice). My son and I were seated at a communal table even though several tables for 2 were available (not nice). The menu included items such as Lamb testicles and other exotic dishes. The burger, which seemed a bit out of place on an otherwise eclectic menu, was outstanding. Very nicely done and tasty. Dinner for two was $66 not including tip. Overall it was just a bit snooty for my taste.

Fell Short of My Lofty Expectations

By SHFT54 |

I had worked up the burger in my head and it just didn't live up to the hype. I'm a huge fan of sweetbreads and was not impressed with those either. Now, on to the good news. The place is beautiful, staff is awesome, and drinks are poured with talent and precision. Their cured meats are as tasty as charcuterie comes(don't miss the ham). Deviled eggs, the bacon one in particular are good. Prices are very reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber.

One of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta !

By Marisako327 |

Ask for DJ because he never disappoints ! That mans memory for what you drank last time when you came in a year ago right before disappearing to Thailand will blow you away. Small plates of wonderful yum yum and seasonal top notch ingredients. Their in house charcutier is to die for as is their bacon pop corn. I've never had a bad dish here and that's really saying something ! I could go on forever about how great this place is. Their drinks are fantastic as well.

Second visit as good as first

By GlassTravel |

This was my second visit in two years. The cocktails here are inventive and made with extreme care and love. I recommend "The Soft Eyes You Once Had." And the food is also great—we ate pork. Pasta, and lots of veggies. And a fantastic pudding for dessert. It's a bit loud, but we were in one of the two little booths, which helped a bit.

Very Nice!!!

By Michael W |

My wife and I went for our anniversary last night and truly enjoyed it. We started with toasted flavored pecans and some charcuterie. Great all around. My wife has hot chicken and I had the burger with squash and blossoms. The food was great. I've had better burgers, but it was still very good. We ended with vanilla panda cotta which was very nice but very small. My only thing I wish was better was a larger table. Service was great , just felt a little cramped. Would definitely recommend.

Not your typical pub fare

By Leigh C |

My husband and I had just gotten out of the theatre. It was after 11 and wanted something to eat. This was close by. Not really what we wanted. The snacks were good - Caramelized figs, deviled eggs and pimento cheese. My husband had the shrimp too -it was a small serving. Cocktails were good. The waiters are VERY snobby. Unless you are looking for pate & sweetbreads, I'd skip this place.

Not the same as before

By ectphd |

I have been here several times over the years. Did a bar tending class once. The allure was the opportunity to noodle with the bar tenders about their craft and have them create off menu drinks. This time the music was so loud I couldn't converse with my wife much less the bartenders. The bar keeps were either too busy to be or not especially interested in being interesting .

Hipster priced food

By Jimmy S |

Not bad, not great. Certainly nothing to bring me back. They have a nice selection of whiskey and bourbon. The burgers so highly talked about would not fall into the top third that I have had.

Great burgers

By Henry_Macon_GA |

Great burgers! A little hard to find but worth it. We both had burgers and had no complaints. Service was very good also. Will be back to try the Chicken.

Really Good, great atmosphere....still not the best burger in the world!

By Curtis S |

I loved my experience at H&F. It is a really rustic/modern atmosphere with incredibly interesting items on the menu and an awesome serving staff. The food was fantastic and when they have a nitro beer on tap, if your beer inclined, I highly recommend it. Also the Toffee pudding bread was insanely good. However, I heard nothing but raving reviews about the burgers on the menu and I have to say, I was less impressed than I was hoping. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good burger, but from what I read, I was expecting the best burger of my life. I will say this....I've had better. Nothing against it, but I am still on my search for the best burger in the USA.

The Best Cheeseburger...

By travelingmommy8786 |

This has to be the best cheeseburger I have ever tasted. The French fries that were served with it were delicious as well. We also tried the foie gras (Amaaaaazing!) and the deviled eggs. Money well spent and felt completely satisfied with the portions given. Definitely a place to eat at over and over again. Parking is valet only and it is located underneath condos next to Restaurant Eugene, in case it's hard to find.

Go for Burger!

By DidITellYouThis |

Burgers were awesome. Two patties made with 1/2 brisket and 1/2 chuck. Home made ketchup/mustard! Fries were great. Ditch your diet for this bad boy! You can park further away and walk it off! 😀

Celebration!

By Mary L |

This place was wonderful! The food was excellent and the famous burger was delicious. Make reservations way ahead of time! The drinks were very good. The atmosphere was very pleasant and wait staff was very attentive and friendly.

Good for convenience.

By Schatze |

I would eat here again if I was staying within walking distance, but I wouldn't go out of my way. The service was excellent, and the food was good, but there wasn't a memorable dish that had me saying "I have to come back here!" It was also fairly empty on the Friday evening we went, which sometimes is nice, but always leaves me wondering "...why isn't anyone else here?" The cocktails were lovely, and the staff are happy to offer recommendations. The bread was incredible. The bone marrow is great, and I'm always happy to see that pop up on a menu. It was a good meal, but like I said, nothing that sticks out in my mind as special.

Worth the Wait

By Kelly L |

We had planned to visit in October when we were in Atlanta for my sister's birthday, but had a change of plans. When we found out we were traveling through Atlanta this past week, we made reservations right away. The goal was to eat the famous cheeseburger we heard so much about. I can honestly say it did not let us down! The cheeseburger is a must have. I didn't even add ketchup or mustard to my sandwich, it was so flavorful and delicious! We also started out with the Caesar salad with fried oysters, and enjoyed the carbonara, and the pate' melt, as well. No disappointments! For dessert we had the fried pie and brown butter ice cream, it was good, but not as outstanding as the rest of our meal. There was a little misunderstanding about our reservation. This left an impression, but it was rectified to our satisfaction, and the food and our waiter made up for it.

That Burger

By SandBAtlanta |

There's nothing more American than a good old fashioned cheeseburger and there is no better cheeseburger in Atlanta than the burger at Holeman & Finch. The good news is that now you no longer have to stand in line or wait until 10 pm to get one. You can make a reservation on Open Table! Love that! Our order stays the same - deviled eggs to start, an ice cold root beer and two cheeseburgers. Sheer bliss!

Weird Dinner

By CFRHallett |

Gosh, this seemed it like it was going great. Cocktails were nice, pate also delish, and then perfect trout, but the only entree out of two expected. After waiting for a while, and then flagging down another server after my wife finished the trout, I received a cool temp venison entree. It was good, but cool, which I mentioned. Our server and the "manager" quickly addressed it by comping both entrees without asking if that was even necessary. I would have preferred a replacement entree. So while they reacted nicely, it seemed strange. It was a timing issue and we ended up feeling like complainers. Weird.

The burger did not disappoint

By Jerri G |

I've heard how good the burger is, so, on a trip to Atlanta, Holeman and Fince was a must. We started with the pimento cheese as an appetizer; it was very good. The burger was as good as I heard it was. However, the cobbler was only fair at best. Also, I requested ketchup 3 times; never received the ketchup. My true rating would be between average and very good.

Two times not good at Holman & Finch; seems overrated

By Laurie D |

I came in after work. Sat at the bar and waited 15-20 minutes and was given only a glass of water. Bartenders right in front of me ignored me and did a lot of nonserving stuff, never even asking me what I wanted to drink, much less eat. I left after being ignored for so long and went into another restaurant across the way at Colony Square. Was served at the bar there quickly even though that second restaurant was at least as busy as Holman & Finch. Maybe more busy. It’s the customer’s choice. Put up with terrible service or walk across the way where they seem to care. I live in the neighborhood but don’t think I’ll stop by H& F again. Last time was not so great either. Happily, there are other wonderful options in Midtown Atlanta.

H&F Burger and Hand Cut Beef Tartare

By Paul D |

We'd had H&F Burgers at both SunTrust Park and Ponce City Market, but we had yet to visit the flagship "public house" until recently. I had actually been trying to get to the flagship location for years, and finally managed to make the trip. I was not disappointed and neither was my wife. They have a very comprehensive wine list, and it meets all budgets. I opted for the Hand Cut Beef Tartare (or "steak tartare", if you will) and my wife went with the ever-famous H&F burger. Wow. Both were great and the burger was even better than those at SunTrust and PCM. We also ordered one of their cheese plates which was fresh and delicious. Our server was also magnificent. As soon as we were seated, he politely notified us that there were 2 burgers left for the evening and although his intent was not to rush us to order, he did want to let us know that if we were interested in ordering the burger, that we'd need to be quick with our decision as some other customers might take the last ones. (NOTE: HFPH only has 24 burgers per lunch and per dinner for customers.) We really look forward to going back to H&F and trying out new items on their menu because they are much more than just the burger (but the burger is exceptional).

Best farm to flavor yet...

By Dub T |

I was incredibly impressed by their simplicity but quality of their menu. Their preperation and presentation was excellent. We sampled 3 entrees and even was able to get a burger - the best burger perhaps. I was most impressed with the Ham-hock and succotash .

One of the Best Burgers!

By jonsay24 |

I surprised my husband and took hime here. We saw this place on Food Network the best food ever ate. It really was one of the best burgers we ever ate.We got there early because they only make 24burgers a night at 10pm. We waited it was a nice place to relax and enjoy our date night. My husband has been back serval times since then too. He really likes it!

Not all you hear is true unfortunately....

By dumlvr7 |

I am a cheeseburgeraholic and honestly...H&F was alright. It does taste good but did not live up to its rep. It was a big burger for me, two patties and not a lot of fries I guess that's why it was cheaper than I thought. It was way too crowded which was really annoying coz people pass so close to you physically while eating. While I love to see a restaurant that busy coz the food is so amazing, does not really do much for your comfort level and makes you just want to go finish your meal real quick (maybe that was the point?). They have valet parking and self parking is a joke. Most of it was for Starfish or whatever that other restaurant was.

Achingly cool - tries far too hard

By DrKazza |

Came in, impromptu for a dinner - 5 of us, they only had space at the bar which was fine - a good sign that a place is a busy, particularly at 7:30pm However the wheels came off when the time came to order, the abrupt (not rude, just short) waitress said "you can only have two burgers" and then held up two fingers at us so that there was no possible miscommunication. We asked for one with cheese and one without... when they delivered 2 with cheese I watched as she went back to the kitchen, ordered a new one for us and recycled the cheese one for another table. I understand that some places may not want to be known as a just a burger joint but to forbid your customers from having items on the menu is a great way to put people in a very unreceptive mood. If you don't want to cook it, then don't put it on the menu at all. And in case you were wondering it had nothing to do with a limited supply. When we did order off-piste the other fare on offer was very well cooked and exceptionally tasty, but I still walked out of there thinking that I hope a giant mutated radioactive hamburger attacks the manager's house and pulls it to the ground in the style of a 50s B-movie. would have got 4 stars for the non-burger food but the service/attitude/policy dropped it

One of the finest

By lwm89 |

This is a hidden gem that has caught the attention of some television hosts. I have tried a few different plates and each were exceptional. It offers a nice atmosphere, great service and surpassing food. If you are looking for a nice evening dinner, check out this place.

Very Disappointing

By lindsay h |

We met a friend for dinner at this restaurant on Thursday evening the 16th. We wanted to catch up. Cocktails were good but the noise level in the small bar was such we couldn't talk to each other. It was no better after we moved to the table. We ordered the Pimento Cheese and crackers to share, what a disappointment, no flavor and no better than any prepackaged pimento cheese. I ordered the fried oysters on lettuce with caesar dressing. The oysters were so dry and over cooked it was hard to know what they were. My husband had the Bratwurst, terribly dry and no flavor. Our friend had the " Famous Hamburger", which he said was very dry and he would not have it again. At this point we chose not to go any further and take a chance on the sweets.

Not what I expected

By Kadensaunt |

I came here because I saw Anthony Bourdain's episode where he ate here. I was excited to try different things but when I saw the menu I was so disappointed. There were maybe 10 items in all and none of them appealed to me. We got up and left 🙁

Not bad. Not good.

By HHKMB |

Went there on Sunday. Had there burger. Have to be honest. We were not Impressed. Maybe we came on a bad day. Service was good, however food lacked. Maybe next time.

Excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere

By Alex B |

The service is incredible, as well as the quality of food and drink selections. We loved being able to sample various small dishes, such as a head cheese, bratwurst, and pork chop. The waiter was able to provide great drink recommendations. Ultimately, it made for a fun night out.

Good food...

By Michael D |

Met a business colleagues here for dinner. They have great drinks and decent food. Smallish portions, so if your hungry get some starters! I wouldn't go out of my way to hit this place, but wasn't bad.

Delicious drinks and early dinner

By Lezlie G |

We enjoyed drinks and an early dinner here before a concert. The service was great, and the food was delicious. I would definitely visit again.

Went for a quick snack. Great bakery.

By Vic V |

My wife and I didn't sit down for a full meal. They have a bakery/sandwich bar area for lunch and afternoons that we took advantage of. There were spots to charge my phone too. The restaurant had a clean, open look. The bar is large and the staff is friendly. Our to go food came quick and fast. I was so hungry at the time, I ate my heated bear claw fast. Coffee was good as well. We intend to go back to sample more on the menu.

It's everything I've heard it to be.

By Tony M |

Amazing drinks, nice small location, had veal sweetbreads, seabass, steak tartare, and a burger between four. The burger was everything I've heard it to be. Try it without ketchup or mustard first, even though both are made in house. We had excellent service, whom were all very educated in their products as well as drinks and whiskey. We look forward to our next visit. Also, you can now the the famous burger at anytime.

Can't see what all the fuss is about.

Went on Sunday to have "The Burger." I think why this place is getting the attention is that they serve the burger "their way." It was a chore to get the burger the way I wanted. The burger was ok, nothing special. Fries were good but I don't need to spend "gourmet prices" for an average burger.

Delicious

The burger was the best I ever tasted. My family entire family enjoyed their food. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was perfect

Beware the Hype!

By HSmith563 |

My experience at Holeman & Finch was over two months ago, and I'm still bothered by it. Quite simply, I had the worst service I have ever had (and I've lived in NYC and London for years)! You don't expect disturbingly rude treatment when your expectation is high-end Southern hospitality. Our waiter was rude from the moment he took our drink orders. When we dared to ask about their policy of only serving burgers at 10 pm or later (an unusual menu provision don't you think?) he became quite belligerent. I guess questions are not allowed? I have since heard that the burger is now a permanent menu option. I won't bother to find out. The hype is silly and the menu options, while interesting, don't matter much when the service is so horrible. We had a terrible time. Atlanta is full of inventive, new-Southern restaurants with incredibly friendly wait staff. Don't waste your time here.

Great food and great drinks!

By Luv2G0 |

The food was excellent as were the cocktails. Drew and Sam are great bartenders and did an excellent job with cocktail recommendations and creations as well as food recommendations from the menu. I strongly recommend the Johnnie cake (add the foie gras!), the chicken liver mousse, and, of course, the cheeseburger!

Best food I've had in years

By Nicolas S |

I was in Atlanta on a business trip last week with some colleagues for 4 days. Had seen this restaurant on Anthony Bourdain’s Layover program. WOW… that is all I can say. What a dining experience…It was so good that I had to go back 3 night in a row to try all their dishes, even the Offal. The Edwards Surry ham is to die for, Bacon Caramel Popcorn is unbelievable and then there is the Burger that we were lucky enough to have access to on the last night, probably the best burger I have ever tasted. But make no mistake this is not a burger joint that is an all-round phenomenal restaurant where brilliantly crafted and balanced dishes rule and they have managed to create flavour combinations that are perfect. Can’t fault anything. Great place, great food, great culinary memories. You need to try it. Enjoy…

Great food

Went to Holeman & Finch with another set of friends and wasn't disappointed. All 4 of us got the burger and really enjoyed it. Had a great waiter that was very attentive. Def would recommend this place if you are in the area.

Excellent!

By Jennifer T |

We sat at the bar with Kaleb and were expertly served! We tried several appetizers and all were amazingly delicious! We had the burger for our entree and now we know why it's so famous! Hands down, the best burger and fries we've ever had!

Best in Atlanta

By K8eros |

My first trip to Holeman & Finch was in 2012 and every time I come to Atlanta I make sure to make time for it! It is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, but it's one of my favorite restaurants in the world!!! Try the oddities on the menu, the things you don't see serviced everywhere and I promise you will not be disappointed! The veal brains or the lamb testicles are an easy win!!!! I Love This Place! However, if your in a group, make a reservation. This little gem fills up quickly!!! Even on week night!

Amazing food

By ClaytonJrl |

I loved this restaurant it was amazing. I took my wife there for valentine's day and was amazed with the food. The cheeseburger was hands down the best I have ever had, and it was not expensive at all. My review is only limited to the the burger and fries but believe me you will not be disappointed.

Hand made everything

By Harry A |

From the ketchup, to the mustard and pickles, the bun, pasta, pimento cheese, everything is home made and you can tell. This is a bucket list stop for sure. We had multiple custom cocktails, pasta carbonara, pimento cheese, two H&F burgers, Croque Madame, and the Bread pudding desert. Party of 3- $110.00 less tip. Don't necessarily need to do it again, but I can fully appreciate what went into each dish as presented. Excellent Service and a delight to have experienced.

Good pick

Food was great polenta and the fried ocra was so good...I personally a fan of the bone marrow but I'm guessing it an acquired taste... The drinks were out of this world...

Cool place: unique cocktails and awesome burgers

By redatl |

Have been here before for the burger, which is fabulous, however this time we stopped for an appetizer and drink before eating next door at Restaurant Eugene. Went with something light so as to not ruin our appetite: the tempura squash appetizer shown above with the ramp aioli - very good. I think it would have been better if they did thick slices of zucchini versus the spears, though the spears look cooler. I got the Fox and Hound drink - something different from what I normally do - and it was good, though it ended on a bitter note. But it's fun to do something out of the norm for us suburbanites. While our server was totally adequate, he was not at all engaging, which I found disappointing. When you sit at the bar, I expect a little conversation. Perhaps it's because we came in before dinner and after lunch so they were getting things ready for dinner....still, a little more conversation would have been nice.

Unique eats

By Arthur P |

Food and service were top notch for a gastropub. Everything was unique and savory in every way. I had the Burger as even though the server thought it underwhelms compared to the other very, interesting offerings. My guests all enjoyed everything offered.

Burgers and Sticky Toffee Pudding

By CNR683 |

Go there for the burger and sticky toffee pudding. The caramel bacon popcorn was pretty good too. Even though it was an entree, the beef tenderloin was tiny. The decor is nice and sophisticated. A lot of the other patrons, not so much. It looked like a tour bus had dropped these people off. Maybe it was just the day I was there. I will likely go back for the burger and toffee pudding. Try to get a booth, because the communal table and tiny two person tables along the windows were not cute.

This IS a destination burger

By ATLgirl |

I had the cheeseburger for first time two years ago, and I had it again tonight and it lived up to my memory. Don't try to customize it - just order it and enjoy. Currently they're cooking 24 per night starting at 5:00 PM. They said sometimes they sell out early and sometimes they have them until 8:00. We had a 6:45 reservation and were able to get two burgers. The table next to us was told they were getting the last two. The burger is simple and perfect. The cheese had melted off the sides and browned on the grill, which was delicious.

Eclectic Menu and Amazing Drinks

By TiMason |

We stopped by and were seated at a community table but since it was still early it wasn't crowded. The food offerings straddled the line from standard fare (great hamburgers) to eclectic (veal brains). The quality was very good on either side. Additionally a vast listing of wines and cocktails was available and all of those we ordered were delicious.

Inventive & Delicious

By Keith B |

Holeman & Finch is sort of hard to find, neatly tucked into the bottom level of some condo on Peachtree. Parking is in a deck accessed behind the restaurant. You can park yourself or use the valet. The restaurant is rather cramped, but that does create a pleasant, active buzz. Servers are of the kind I like best—confident and professional yet not stuffy. We started with a Jack Rose cocktail which was wonderful. I had to chat with the bartender to see all the special, home-made ingredients they make to create their drinks. To eat we had the collards, red beans, pasta with root vegetables and short rib, and the cheeseburger. All were absolutely delicious. I had wanted to get their carbonara which was recommended, but it had not been on the menu for months, we were told. For dessert we had the wonderful sticky pudding and some very good French press coffee. I would definitely return, but I would call first to see if the Carbonara is available.

Superb Burger and Great Service

By Ichdien000 |

Based on a strong recommendation we recently checked out the burgers at Holeman & Finch - was advised to arrive early as they apparently don't make too many and it can get busy as the place is very popular. Really was a great burger and did not disappoint. It really was one of the best enjoyed for a very long time. Good selection of beers and great service made it a very nice evening - would definitely recommend and will return

Great food!

Our party of six stopped in for Sunday brunch. We shared several starters and had many different main dishes, all of which were excellent. The seating was a bit tight, but worth the experience, we will definitely be back.

Not bad

By Sweuva1 |

Burger is not bad. Needs more salt. Went with the double patty, which is about right for me. Fries were soggy as they were last time.

Nice. Fine. Ok.

By cielo44 |

This very highly rated restaurant competes with many, many alternatives in an increasingly foodie city. We chose it for a late lunch. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a nondescript office or apartment building. It is very small, and offers nothing in the way of views. We were seated at a strange sort of triangular table near the restrooms, a perfect spot from which to watch. cars navigate the parking structure ramp. We waited quite a while to be greeted, and slooooow was the theme of the service. We've eaten at places in Spain where they'd consider this service slow. Slow, and with the not terribly redeeming quality of being inattentive. The drinks, a glass of wine and cocktail, finally came just before the entrees finally appeared. We were not offered refills of our drinks. We had to flag someone down when we needed something in the middle of the meal. The menu is interesting and creative, preparation very appealing, and the taste fine. That's it, fine. As in, nice. I have no idea why this perfectly pleasant restaurant is so highly rated. It's a hole in the wall in a city of excellent restaurants. Many would disagree, based on the other comments here, but I wouldn't call it a must-see.

Great place

By tammiegoldenwork |

Hipster style. We tried the burger because they are famous for it. I do not eat hamburgers often, but I did love it. Have to say though not sure it was worth the NY City pricing. The liver pate was superb. Definitely worth the cost. We also had the veal sweat bread. It was okay, but it was the experience of it we were out for. The pork belly was good, but again too costly. The service was excellent!

Great food, awesome service

By sfotovat |

I went here with my colleague and client recently for dinner. We didn't have a resrvation so we were not able to sit in the main dining area, we were seated at a high top over by the bar and it was totally fine. Even for a business dinner. There were plenty of items on the menu if you wanted to stick with good hearty American cuisine, but there were also some great options if you wanted to branch out (like veal brains and lamb testicles). We ordered a bunch of small plates and ate family style. The servers were attentive and timed everything perfectly, being that we had a small table. The chef even sent out a complimentary appetizer since we weren't able to be seated at a regular table. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. Definitely would go back!

Arrogant

By croakies |

We went on a business team evening and the food was great but the service was not. We were drinking wine which obviously pissed off the beard fondling bartender. It is really annoying when a bartender fondles his chin all night, gross. He made us feel unwelcome as well and his fellow bartenders didn't seem happy. Carbonara was the real deal as were the other apps, could eat the Carbonara as an entree. Fab. Probably not on our list again!

Many good dishes with frest vegetables

By Jame C |

We chose this spot for a quick Saturday night dinner and had little trouble getting a last minute reservation. Parking is strictly valet and nicely done. The bar and dining areas are of equal size which means the dining room is small. The open kitchen is bustling and interesting to look into. Our seating was a small (micro) table for two by a window with two most uncomfortable and small metal chairs that look good, sit poorly and were designed for small Asian persons at best. Now that I have vented on the impractical table arrangements let's go to the good parts. Our evening began with large glasses of water and selected from the extensive wine and spirits list a Weller reserve bourbon and the Hartford Chardonnay. Then it was on to the food which comes as it is ready. We had fried oysters with a delicate batter and a spicy bed of dipping sauce to begin. The oysters were excellent and the sauce memorable. Next came the trout salad which was definitely enough for three and was followed by the carrots and grilled pole beans with a mint garnish. The carrots are grilled and of varied color all in all a good dish. For my wife the squash salad was the best dish and it came with flavored croutons and grated squash. Our main dish consisted of lamb and pork meatballs in a spicy red sauce and they were perfect. We had no room for dessert. Service was from a well-trained and mannered staff who knew the menu and drinks offerings. The music was a bit loud especially in the bar area.

A fabulous experience!

My boyfriend is a huge Anthony Bourdain fan and I wanted to surprise him with a nice dinner at a place he’s featured on his show before. This was a little more casual than I expected, but still lovely & classy. My boyfriend is a huge foodie and has been dying to try Bone Marrow. Luckily, it was on the menu here- and delicious! Our server was beyond spectacular and new so much about the menu and had great Drink suggestions for us! Everything we had was superb! We will definitely be back one day!

Not so exclusive burgers

By Marcos O |

Until recently Holeman & Finch had a police to serve only a very restricted amount of burgers every night, I believe 15, not so sure. I’ve always wanted to try their burger. Last years I went to Atlanta but H&F was overcrowded and I couldn’t dine there, now in July I went there with my boss, and had their burger. I like my burgers rarely done, and asked for a Rare Done burger, but the waiter refused to ask the kitchen to cook this way, and said he was an expert in the burger industry and Holeman & Finch does not cook burgers this way because they don’t get good. Really???? The problem is the waiter said this in a VERY ARROGANT way, being VERY rude! If you are a burger lover, just forget Holeman & Finch and go to Vortex! Hated Holeman & Finch

Best burger

By Luca D |

The best burger I’ve ever had!! Tasteful and delicious. Staff so nice! To be done again. Surely, no doubt.

Perfect pre-performance meal.

By Tobinslynn |

Stopped in for a quick bite with my daughter before “A Christmas Carol” at The Alliance. Sat at a high top in the bar. Our server, Lindsay, made our night. Courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and kind, she made sure we had time to eat and would still make the play on time. Split the roast chicken panzanella salad—the juices from the chicken soaked into the bread for a beautiful bite. We added a side of the crispiest, most potatoey French fries I’ve had in a long time. Perfect light supper that got our evening at the theater kicked off just right. Thank you!

Excellent fresh food with interesting menu choices

By paige066 |

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff and it did not disappoint. The menu was creative featuring local produce, cheeses and meats. Carl, our waiter/bartender was amazing and was able to answer any menu questions. He also was a tremendous mixologist. We really enjoyed this restauruant.

Bait and switch!

By Carol C |

My family and I went to Holeman and Finch a few weeks ago when the burgers were on the menu but I ordered trout(mediocre) instead so I was REALLY looking forward to having the famous burger last night when we went back to celebrate my daughter's birthday. In fact we'd all planned to order the burger only to find out that the chef has once again decided to prepare a limited number each night and we watched the last 2 burgers being served as we sat down - according to our waiter the chef doesn't want his restaurant to be known simply as "a burger joint". Fair enough so, despite our disappointment, we tried to make the most of our evening...which wasn't easy! Service was terrible despite their being very few occupied tables at 7.30(I guess most people go earlier so they can get a burger...note to chef). Our harried waiter apologized, sort of, by claiming that he was the only one there but that didn't appear to be the case. The menu is so limited and puzzling that we struggled to find something we wanted to eat. And I consider my self an adventurous eater. I eventually ordered the pate - which was more aspic that was way too sweet than pate - and the duck breast which was good but came to the table long after my dinner companions had finished eating. Overall an unsatisfactory experience and we won't be going back...unless the chef decides to step down off his high horse and put the burger back on the menu. After all, it's what his customers want and it is a really good burger!

Still good

By wdwatl |

I miss the pre-reservations version with Greg Steve and Regan, but it's still very good. I wish there were a few more vegetable plates like there used to be but I can't complain about any single dish. This is Southern US tapas and I think it's the style that chef Hopkins and co are best at. I'd much rather dine here than next door at Eugene.

First Time: Burger!

By Flavio K |

When we were going there the Uber´s driver told us that the Burger is fantastic. We needed to try it and it´s fantastic indeed! The service is very cozy and the wine list with a lot of good options. There are nice oysters as well for appetizers. We need to come back to try other dishes!

Never any early seats available. Now I know why.

By Walter H |

The restaurant is right next door to Restaurant Eugene; makes sense. Get awarded a James Beard, make an investment right next door in the same building. It's a small Gastropub themed restaurant with a cool view of the action inside the kitchen right when you walk in. Love That!! Gives you an idea of the clientele working I the kitchen. Menu is fun for the foodie who wants to enjoy a little pork belly, sweet breads, terrine of rooter to the tooter, etc... And some great house made charcuterie selections to boot. Nice drink menu as well. Definitely worth the follow up on open table 3 times waiting for the opportunity to visit at a convenient time to dine. Weird bathrooms I have to say, but amusing after a few drinks👌👌👌👌

Seriously the best burger

By Blair H |

The critics don’t exaggerate when they say this is the best burger. It really is the best burger we’ve ever had. Get there early because they do run out! Also, the cocktails we ordered were incredible and unique! They had a great selection of local beers too.

Holeman & Finch Public House

By J_Hamm0nd |

I arrived at Holeman and Finch Public House on a Sunday at 1:00 pm. I had heard many reviews about the restaurant being newly opened in 2008. I was expecting the restaurant to be packed from their famous homemade burgers that attract people from around the world. There were very few people as I walked through the doors and into the restaurant. The restaurant was very elegant, waiters dressed in tuxes with bow ties. Although the restaurant was very nice the dress code was casual. The restaurant was already impressing me. Sitting down on a wooden seat with the waiter at my side I was ready to order some drinks. The drinks came in a matter of minutes I was very pleased. The waiter asked, “are you ready to order,” I said, “yes.” On the walls were bottles of wine framed behind glass. The waiter brought me a menu, but I knew already what I was going to get. I had read reviews about Holeman and Finch Public House and almost everyone was commenting about the burgers. I order a cheeseburger with fries. These burgers were the least normal burgers, everything was homemade: the buns, the cheese and the burgers; the fries, the ketchup, and the mustard. If you thought that was all you thought wrong, the burgers are only made one way with onions, tomatoes, and pickles; cheese, a burger, and a bun. You are allowed to take stuff off the burger and that is it. If you don’t want a burger they have many other options on the menu. You can get salads, soups, and other options. The also have a menu where you can get different parts of the animals like bone marrow, pig's ears, and beef tartare. They brought my burger and french fries to my table. The smell of the burger overwhelmed me. The burger looked perfect next to a clump of homemade french fries and ketchup. When I took my first bite of the burger my taste buds tingled with joy. Imagine eating a bite of heaven that’s how good it was. The burgers were cooked to perfection, and I was happy as can be. Once I finished the burger I moved on to the fries. Each bite I heard a crunch that made me shiver. I licked my plate clean and there wasn’t a speck of anything left. The waiter came and got my plate and I thanked him for the great meal. I left the restaurant with an overjoyed stomach, the restaurant couldn’t have been better!

We visited the location at Ponce City Market. I did not see the other location on TA. The burger has been hailed as great and is OVERRATED. Nothing was special about it. The pickles were good while the meat, cheese, and buns were adequate. The kale caesar was simple but very fresh and tasty. The house salad was fresh but only lettuce, cucumbers and radishes. Also the dryer was broken so no fries, onion rings, etc were available. The waiter was nice and service was quick.

Russel and Donatella

By mramazing1952 |

Had a great time at H&F. The mixologist captaining the bar (Russell Donovan) knows what he's talking about and is very engaging. Had a number of different recommendations for my son and I ranging from Irish whiskeys to mixed Bourbon drinks. One of his sidekicks, some Italian chick who (at least for that one night) went by the name of Donatella, was a blast. Three overall comments; 1. Had a very positive experience and will be back next time I'm in town 2. The upper-end Irish whiskeys (helloooo Yellow Spot) are pricey....so be prepared to 'deal with it' 3. The bar needs a Hamburger Countdown Display. Its a great gimmick (24's the limit to the number of hamburgers served each evening), but as a customer, I need some kind of warning

More than just a burger joint

By Juheon S |

Yes. The burger is delicious, but there's enough literature out there about that already. If the burger is the only thing you try on your visit here though, then you have made a serious mistake. Holeman & Finch (now accepting reservations!!) is an Atlanta icon. Although on the smaller side, the stuff they send out of the kitchen is unapologetically delicious. Try the sweetbreads with ratatouille, the hoppin john, the fois gras, the bone marrow, and honestly anything else that sounds delicious to you, because the reality is, it probably is delicious. I will say that the chicken liver pate made my energetic (some might say slightly loud) surroundings fade. It was one of those rare moments when my mind has difficulty comprehending the bite I had just taken. Creamy, velvety, sweet, slightly bitter in the most pleasant of ways coupled with the buttery crunch yet spongy interior of toast is almost enough to make you want to cry. But then H&F delivers these rare moments consistently enough to make them slightly less rare, to the point of almost being overlooked if you're not careful, which is hard to do because you might be in some sort of engaging conversation with your dining companion(s). Just make sure that when they put a plate of food in front of you, take a short second to actually appreciate what you're eating. If, on the off chance, you do encounter a dish that isn't well executed, one of the best things about the H&F experience is the wait staff. They all passionately believe in this restaurant and everything that the kitchen makes. They have always been nothing but tremendously helpful in narrowing down the dishes I want to order when I have a slightly panicked desire to order everything. H&F is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, and I definitely would not say that about many places.

Loved this place

By VictoriaD |

Great service. Fabulous peach, onion, bacon salad. Burger was delicious too. Split these, a salad and burger with friend All good.

Food not so good.

By Baru2u |

This is a fine spot for cocktails but nothing else. The bar staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. However the “Sunday Roast” is a giant fail. It’s their suggested dish on Sundays, but its sinew makes it inedible. As the bartender collected our plates with my dish wholly uneaten, he didn’t even ask if there was a problem. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Poorest Service Ever!

By Warren K |

Terrible service. Worse than COVID. One bartender for the whole restaurant. Disinterested server. Had to get help from another server. We couldn’t even get a taste of a bottle of wine that we were trying to purchase. It took forever to get our choice of wine and a martini. Oysters were fine. Four of us ordered entrées. Only three entrées came. One of the entrées was a salad, which didn’t have any chicken on it. I ordered a half order of pasta which never came. So I ended up eating half of someone else’s cheeseburger. No real problems with the food itself. There are too many other choices in Atlanta to come here again.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere

We had dinner here, party of 8. Very cool drinks and appetizers at the bar, and excellent dinners and service. Cozy place with interesting accents, like barn doors on the bathrooms.

H&F at the Ponce Market- DELISH!!

By mumiller1 |

We put our name in for a table and walked around the market. After 20 minutes we were seated and had one of the THE best burgers I've had. The meat is ground fresh and the bun is divine. The fries were large enough for three of us to share. A must go to spot if you want a delicious burger!!

Ate here for dinner on way to the Atlanta Orchestra

By Susan K |

My daughter and I ate here for dinner on the way to the Atlanta Orchestra a couple of weeks ago. They have valet parking and very little self parking. About 80% of the individuals coming in would try to self park - find no spaces available and have to check their car with the valet on the way back down. They now offer their famous hamburger on the regular menu everyday. That's what we both had. They are decent burgers but do not measure up to the hype. Also spending almost $40 for two burgers, fries, and sodas is no bargain. Both my daughter and I prefer the burger at our local pub for about 1/2 the price.

Average place

By OssamaGhazal |

Not sure what all the fuss about. I read a lot of high ratings about the place but honestly, it was only average. Maybe it's because I live in New York and you can't get a better burger than there but honestly, the burger was only ok

Figs, steak, and a James Joyce

By gracious_tx_traveler |

Never had a James Joyce prior to tonight - what a way to begin a lovely evening. Sam, our waiter, was spectacular. His recommendations were spot on. Risotto, steak, okra, figs, panna cotta, and herby cocktails. Lovely.

Excellent Burger, But Not Quite Bocado's

By LanSluderBelize |

The cheeseburger at Holeman & Finch is legendary. Finally, after all these years, I got a chance to experience it last night on a quick visit to ATL for the taping of "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" at the Fox. Oh, yes, it's good. A double patty with charred, crusty edge, on a H&F's own bun. You don't get to specify anything. It's served the way it's served. Period. Burger. Cheese. Onions. Fries. Sides of ketchup and mustard. I like that arrogance. It's $14 and worth it. H&F is a lot smaller than I imagined. Just a few tables and a bar. But there is valet parking. Drinks at Holeman & Finch are a little on the pricey side. My Plymouth gin & tonic was $13.50, but it was dang good. Bottom line: This is clearly one of Atlanta's best burgers, but I'd put it a notch below Bocado Atlanta. I'd even put it a bit below Asheville's Bull & Beggar. But I'll be dreaming of that charred crusty double cheese for a long time.

Great Cocktails and Burger

By Weltreisender00 |

I was looking forward to going here after I was told by my girlfriend that it was amazing. However, she hadn't been here in a couple years, and I read some reviews on this website that made me hesitant because people were saying it was hyped up and overrated. Conclusion: I went, and I'm glad I did. The cocktails were delicious...as was the burger. Was it the best burger I have EVER had? I'm not sure, but it was definitely one of the best, and I want to go back when I am in ATL again.

Amazing burger!

By Angie H |

Now that burgers are on the menu full time, GO! No need to wait until 10pm. The dining room only seats 18 by reservation. The communal table had a wait. We ate at the bar which still had a wait for a seat. I will say this, drink service was slow. We ordered beer with our burgers and the burgers came out first. We will go back!

Best burger ever!

By Michael K |

Been multiple times and haven't found anything that wasn't amazing! The burger is def one of the top 3 I've ever had! Highly recommend this place!!

NOT the same quality...

By Ashton S |

I've been to Holeman and Finch before on a business trip about a year and a half ago. It was literally the best meal of my life! Everything was impeccable! I came back to Atlanta for a family vacation and was eagerly anticipating another "best meal of my life experience" but was sorely disappointed to say the least. Their menu is 1/4 of what it was before and when I got my $16 carbonara, it was not only a tiny portion but luke warm as well. The variety before was so amazing and we ordered just about everything on the menu but that is not the case now. This time The burger was good but the caramel bacon popcorn was the same quality as you get from a tin can and only one tiny piece of bacon was to be found. I was honestly heartbroken because I have touted this restaurant as the best I've ever experienced for over a year and now feel like a fool. Needless to say, I'm devastated.

Great Burger…small establishment

By 541jameso |

Visited H&F for Sunday Brunch to guarantee ourselves a hamburger. Well worth it. The restaurant and bar areas are extremely small so plan ahead…we were told it would be a 90 minute wait when we first showed up, but we got lucky and got a tabletop in the bar area which is first-come, first-served. Everyone seemed to be getting the burger for brunch…it was worth it, but glad I didn't come on a week night and miss out. The Bloody Mary was also excellent. Highly Recommend.

eh.

By Amanda B |

I was excited to come here after seeing them on the travel channel. The decor was certainly up my alley, but the food was not what I expected. I didn't really finish any of my meals. The burger was good, but nothing to write home about. Perhaps I will try it again with no pickles, something about it was off. I don't think the menu is good for kids, although my baby did finish the duck and melon. They did have great cocktails though and an extensive whiskey menu. Fairly priced.

EXCELLENT RESTAURANT, FOOD AND SERVICE!

We spent my wife's birthday yesterday night and we had an INCREDIBLE dinner! Food was amazing; with incredible flavors, great presentation of the dishes and awesome service. We highly recommend this great place, in our group we tasted at least 7 different plates all of them were great! CONGRTULATIONS and keep the great work.

Waited 10 years to try the burger and it was worth it

By Ghiatrain |

The cheeseburger here had been on my list since i read about it in Food and Wine. Finally got back to Atlanta and reserved my spot for 5:30. It’s worthy of the list. First they do a double cheeseburger so it has some mass. Usually burgers this big dry out while cooking, 2 patties avoids this and it was juicy. Also the pickles were sweet and complemented the burger well. Simple but great. I put this as my must go to in Atlanta. My one tip is to check traffic before going. I allowed 20 minutes for the 4 mile drive from downtown and it took 40 minutes. Luckily it was not as crowded on a Tuesday.

Very good meal, deserving of the hype. A limited number of burgers at dinner seems a little gimmicky but they were very good. The pimento cheese appetizer was excellent as well.

Late Night Date Night

By KiaraHarvey |

This place is a wonderful find for anyone looking for an inventive meal later in the evening. We had a 10:30 reservation on a Friday night. It's not a dive-y scene, but the feel is equally eclectic as that you'll find at The Vortex or the like. From the interior décor to the uniquely-dressed staff and the precision with which they uniformly announce the departure of yet another table... you'll feel like you're in an urban saloon. I love that part. We started with the pickled shrimp, a promotional item for the recent Valentine's Day holiday, and we both had the veal sirloin prepared medium rare. It was very tender, served atop an accompaniment of onion, florets and a sweet potato puree. We also tried the braised collard greens. They were smoky and tangy and flavorful, but if you're from the South, you just might have had better. That's no blow to H+F; they've got plenty else to offer. It's important to note that on a prior visit my fellow diner had the cheeseburger, and since then he has not stopped raving about said burger. Then again, you may just be the adventurous sort who's into sweetbreads and whatnots. If that's the case, this is definitely the place for you. Ultimately, it's the crowd, the setting and the drinks that keep me coming back to H+F, but on top of their food, why wouldn't you stop by?

Pretty good

By Kaylensmom |

I visited here about a year ago and decided to visit again. The first visit required a wait for close to an hour. This time, we decided to make reservations. Complimentary valet parking only took a minute or so and we went straight to our table. There are limited opportunities for privacy. The restaurant has some "joint seating" (long tables were you may be seated next to strangers). We went there for the burger. It isn't on the menu, so you have to ask. Our waiter was very nice, but one of the most unenthusiastic people I've ever come across. The food was good. I seem to remember the burger being better my first visit, but is was good. FYI, they don't ask questions about how you want your burger prepared. You'd have to inquire about what comes on it...

cryptic menu; great food!

By Doug S |

The server and I shared a frustration with the fact that the categories on the menu don't offer easy interpretations on portion size, and therefore it is difficult to know how many items to order between a party of 2 (or 4). As first time visitors, we guessed our way through it, and ordered deviled eggs, fried oysters with a caesar salad, the legendary cheeseburger (which was good, and kind of tasted like a Portillo's burger for those of you familiar with that Chicago hotspot), and a cheese plate. The server helpfully recommended a port to go with our cheese plate. Everything was really good. Not earth-shatteringly amazing, but good. Cool, modern ambiance. Service was good despite the full house of guests. This will be a pretty pricey meal but go ahead and treat yourself!

I"d give it a 6 if I could

By Doc L |

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in quite a while. We started with the Deviled Eggs Three Ways, and knew it was going to be great with that start. Then we had the Reserve Wagyu Beef Tartare, and it was still on a roll. For "mains" (it's a small plate kinda place), we had GA Royal Red Shrimp Toast, which was amazing. We asked for more bread (it comes with it as part of the dish) so we could soak up the remaining broth. Then we followed with the Pig Head Carnitas. It sounded a bit strange, and it was delicious. I just love the variety and the difference. We finished with the semifreddo, which is a lot like ice cream, but better. We each had a dish of it. The portions are a perfect size. Even with four dishes and dessert, I'm feeling comfortably full. The tastes were exceptional. The service was also exceptional. Attentive but not too much so; informative and helpful. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I'm definitely going back.

Finally had the burger

By Ronni C |

So this review is for the H&F in ponce market So much hype around his place and I can finally say I had the burger. It's good. Not sure it's worth he 13$ but the service hands down is the worse thing ever. The lady on the cash register was a super beach. No smile no please no thank you. Like me placing my order was an inconvenience for her. We couldn't get refills we could get napkins we couldn't get silverware. I know it's a fancy burger joint but even their runny ketchup sucked. Huge disappointment. Yes the burger was good. But everything and I mean everything else was horrible.

Amazing and so delicious

By philipmcdaniel |

Have the privilege of sitting at the bar tonight with Caleb and enjoyed some of the best cocktails and by far the best hamburger I've ever had. A must on your travel plans to Atlanta

Great Bar

By Vtm R |

Its a great high-end bar with a wide selection of drinks. They serve great cocktails. Very stylish with a glass room filled with wine and meat. They have nice small dishes with the drinks. I liked the fried oysters with curry-mayo.

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta

By Talal S |

Mine and my 18 year old daughter's favorite eatery in Atlanta. The staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is relaxed and lively, and the menu is always changing with delicious and interesting dishes. We go there at least once a week when I am in town.

Best in Atlanta

By K8eros |

Any time I'm in Atlanta, I never fail to make it to Holeman and Finch. I had the Calf Brain, Sweetbread and the Pate. I was not disappointed! The service was excellent, and the food was, as expect, the best!

Nothing special

By Tagliacozzi |

While Holeman & Finch was portrayed by a friend (an Atlanta local) as a great place, it didn't really do much for me. Other than being a cramp "Gastrobar" with average food I left with nothing more than smelling like a kitchen and a bad experience.

Speakeasy Slick

By Chevin W |

I loved everything about my experience at Holeman and Finch. I thought we would arrive earlier than a Saturday dining experience usually kicks off in the big city, however the restaurant and bar were in full swing. My husband and I sat at the bar. We were celebrating so we decided to have a cocktail, the beautiful mixologist described and artfully produced a delicious cocktail, and made sure our menu choices were in the kitchen. Delicious short rib risotto and their famous cheese burger was soon in front of us and we savoured each bite with the accompaning collard greens cooked to perfection. I highly recommend. It has taken me a while to get in there since I live 100 miles away, but it was worth the drive and worth the time.

Love the food!

By Meggie |

The husband and I visited on a Friday evening without a reservation. We sat at the communal table which ended up being fine. We got the deviled eggs and pimento cheese apps. Both the best either of us have ever had! For entrees My husband ordered the burger and I got the sliced Edwards surry ham and one of the cheeses: DELICIOUS!!! We both were very happy with our meals as well as the drinks we ordered with them. Just try to make a reservation if you think about it and then you can have an even more enjoyable meal!

Wow---top notch

By dwaNtheATL |

The burger is THAT good. It was perfectly cooked and so juicy. We knew we would love it but what we didn't know about going in is the buffalo chicken skins. They must make their own hot sauce and I usually don't eat hot sauce. This stuff is slightly hot but unbelievably tasty. Perfect crispy skins and a little blue cheese....addictive. I also had a wonderful Pimm's cup and my husband had an old fashioned. Everything was high quality.

Best Burger on ATL Hands Down ---

By SGTTravels |

Tough to compare against all of the other great reviews - but - hands down the best cheeseburger in the deep south -- where the competition is tough - but this one stands up to the snuff -- don't hesitate to dine here for your foodie burger fix - you will not be disappointed.... Not a burger foodie? No worries - the F&B menus are top notch --- it's just that it's my third visit and I finally ordered the burger ---- now can't remember what I ate the first two times but I know it's ALL amazing... But this burger tho' --- changed my life - #IJS

Excellent

By Ron R |

My second meal here and I will return again. Steak tartare, pork belly, chicken liver mousse. All excellent. Burgers were unavailable. The chicken skins were okay but smothered in buffalo sauce so I can’t recommend. I wanted more but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs

What a great Dinner

By Loki2990 |

We live in the Garden Hills District of Atlanta and can walk to 50+ good restaurants. Last Friday during some bad weather, the four of us ventured out. The roads were empty. Holeman and Finch seated us immediately, great service, nice bottle of wine and the food was great. I personally tried the liver pate and Oysters. Both great choices. We will return!

Breath-taking!

By Scotty H |

The Holeman & Finch Public House is a very trendy kind of upscale cuisine restaurant and in fact it is very pleasing on the inside. I almost felt under dressed being in jeans and a polo shirt, but it's not that way at all. The Cheddar Cheeseburger that I ordered was almost breath-taking! The presentation with being on a plate such as in the picture was a great touch. The size of the burger was a nice size, and cooked perfectly. The taste of this fine piece of meat was so damnlicious, and I didn't want the moment to end. Now an important item to mention is that H&F is not really a burger joint per se'. In fact they only make a certain amount of hambuger patties each day. I would suggest to call ahead to be sure they have plenty of patties and if possible reserve the amount you may need. This restaunt is truly something to try as itself is something to behold.

Crunchy Gentleman

By Steve |

Excellent tapas restaurant. Pricey but eclectic and fun menu. Crunchy Gentleman was delish as were pretzel bites, fish and chips, and deviled eggs. Get the Bless Your Heart vodka martini. Valet parking. Waiter named 'Jazz' took great care of us and his blue colored hair added to the restaurant's ambiance.

The Hamburger

By Patti B |

This is a small quaint restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The hamburger is everything and more than it’s reputation!,,,

Did it again!

By Natalie D |

Once again we decided to visit this amazing place. We had some friends comming into town and they specifically requested burgers. So we immediately suggested Holeman and Finch. As we arrived there was a bit of a wait but no problem. We found great seats at the bar and Caleb the Great was there ( he makes the best drinks!) . So he made sure that we where happy and our drinks got more delicious as we keep drinking while we waited for a table to open. The table was available as soon as our friends arrived. Perfect! As we sat down they brought us water and asked us if we wanted appetizers. But we already knew what we wanted!!! Even though the pimento cheese, deviled eggs and chicken skin is delicious as well, we only had one thing in mind.... CheeseBurgers!!! These friking burgers somehow are out of this world! The meat is super juicy, they are cooked one way and one way only... To perfection! It comes with fresh cut fries and homemade sauces on the side, also lettuce tomato, onions and pickles and you can ask to have them remove one of those and they won't bet mad or give you the evil eye. Oh and the cheese! It has delicious melted cheese all over the patties. I have been here many times and never disappointed, I have sent people here and they have also liked it too. The burger is a bit pricey compared to your regular burger joint, but here you are paying for the quality, the atmosphere, service and of course company. Once again. I recommend this place, perfect for a date or just friends. Go se Caleb, have a drink and enjoy the food! -Nat

Loved the food, the space, and the atmosphere

By SeatOfMyPntsTravelr |

We went during their happy hour so we could taste more of the food since they have small plates on sale between 5-7PM. Almost everything we ordered was fabulous. Their cocktails are delicious too.

As Seen on TV

By James W |

We've seen this place on television food shows more than once, always talking about the hard-to-get burgers, so when we had the chance we decided to give it a try. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server was cordial and informative, the atmosphere was fun and inviting, and yes we did get a burger and yes it was wonderful. We're looking forward to a return visit to try some other good things!

Burger was worth the trip.

By DBneuro |

I ate at the bar area and wanted to try the burger having eating the burger at Bocado the night before. I thought the burger at Holeman and Finch was excellent, but Bocado's burger was superb. I choose Bocado as a win over H and F burger wise.

Best Burger and Hand-Crafted Cocktails in Atlanta!

By Jim2344 |

I went there a few weeks ago with my wife and 25 year old son to enjoy one of their famous Cheeseburgers! I bet at 7PM on a Monday night 50% of the restaurant was eating Cheeseburgers!! We also enjoyed the Deviled Eggs as well as a specialty cocktail made with Apple and Bourbon that was fantastic! I especially enjoyed the one EXTRA LARGE ice cube they put in the drink to keep it cold and not water it down. My only complaint is they need more tables but besides that this restaurant, Paul's and Houston's would have to be my go to restaurants in this area!

Best Burger!

By Rebeka L |

THis was one of the best burgers and best cocktails I have ever had. I would reccomend to anyone to go there!

Duck, Pork, Cheese, and Vests

By Dan G |

This place is definitely worth Atlanta traffic. It's a small place, but the fluid menu, attention to quality, and excellent service are big time. The word "artisan" gets dropped like pennies in the change cup. Henceforth, it should be reserved for the shaved ham at Holman & Finch. Really. Get the foie gras and bacon on the Johnny Cakes with egg. Just do it. Great atmosphere and service. Despite the vests and beards, not a PBR was seen.

Terrific Burger

By imacguy3 |

We met another couple here for dinner and drinks. The burgers were amazing, and the appetizers were pretty good as well. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Wonderful local food

By DesiraeMarie |

I found Holeman and Finch just searching for local favorites and I’m so glad that I did! All the food is locally sourced and absolutely full of flavor. Everything we tried was delicious! Jimmy our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful, he made wonderful suggestions! We will definitely being frequenting H&F on all our future AVL visits!

Not What I expected

By Stan G |

I had seen "The Burger" on TV and wanted to try it. The burger was very good. Maybe not great, as expected, but a very fine burger. My disappointment was with the service. Our waitress was nice enough when she took our order, but once two of our four people were served and we waited more than ten minutes for the other two burgers to come out, it was obvious she knew she had blown the tip and had nothing to do with us. What I mean by that is, after a manager brought us the other two burgers (which she had not bothered to check on), there was no water or tea refills, no inquiry of how we liked our food, etc. It was like we became food-lepers.

Unique Eats

By Travelinman721 |

Walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation, so we were seated at a long community table, which would have been cool, but all our dining neighbors kept leaving. They were all expecting cheeseburgers (which I hear are incredible.) Apparently they only make 24 every day, and when they're gone, they're gone. Well, we weren't all too upset that we couldn't get burgers, so we stayed. The food was beautiful, but tasted fair. We had radishes with butter, which had no salt and not enough butter for the radishes. Blistered shishito peppers were very good. Beef short ribs were very good, but were accompanied by overcooked sweet potatoes and rubbery rehydrated mushrooms. A farmers cheese and vegetable plate was very nice. I would return to this place, but I think the chef needs to mature a bit. There is an air of pretensiousness to the place that is not warranted. The food is good overall, but not all that. I'm not sure they care. Afterall, I did see 8 people leave without spending a dime, in the time we were there. That's gotta make it tough to pay the rent.

Loud and overpriced

By 77chetb |

If you are afraid of vegetables and like to listen to bad 80's music at volumes that cause you to talk to people at your table so loudly that you are concerned that others can hear you then go here. If you are interested in a nice evening out for dinner go somewhere else. This place thinks that everything on their menu will make a fulfilling meal. At best most items on the menu are appetizer portioned at entree pricing.

Good Burger Could Be Better

By toyman111 |

The H&F burger is good but could be better. Two thin patties with onions, american cheese on a soft roll. The fries are excellent. The burgers are well done and lack the juiciness of a medium burger. For sometime they were serving burgers all day. That changed about ten days ago when they sell a limited # of burgers. When we ordered they had 12 burgers left to sell. All in all not bad but not the best I had...for $14.

Yes, get the burger!

By Katherine B |

The burger here is just as delicious as everyone says it is. It's a very small place with limited seating but well worth the wait. We found seats at the bar and were able to order food there. Staff was very professional and attentive. They have valet parking which is nice. Over all, great drinks and great food!

Fancy McDonald's

By rgupta19 |

Are people insane?! This burger tasted like a McDonald's double cheeseburger. All the burgers come well done and are basically two thin greasy patties with crappy American cheese. Eat this then go to mcdonalds and tell me I'm wrong. The fries were good and only redeeming part of this meal. I had gotten the hush puppies as an appetizer which were also worse than long john silvers counterpart. Even the service sucked. This place is tiny and not even close to capacity when we ate and the server(s) did not come around often and didn't even ask us how our food was. They all seemed pretty amateur. I got my burger packed to go and they have me a fancy brown paper bag. There was even a party that left after a few minutes after sitting cuz the menu is so limited. How is this the BEST burger in Atlanta?! My minds been blown. Zagat has let me down

Not what we expected- look elsewhere

By Jimmy R |

My wife and I ate here on a date night. She heard good things about the food and always wanted to try it. When we arrived early with a reservation we were sat at a very small table by a hallway to the restrooms. We immediately asked if they had another table, the hosts stated that we could only set at another 2 person table. At that time there were only 2 other occupied tables in the restaurant. We eventually moved to another small table and looked at empty booths the whole time we where there. Bottom line: The burger and shrimp on toast was very good. The Hosts personality and attitude was terrible and ensured the experience was not salvageable. The restaurant is very small and over rated in my opinion. Not a comfortable dinner spot. I would look else if you’re looking for a nice dinner.

Modern twist on Southern food

By Steph |

While visiting Atlanta for a weekend I wanted to get a taste of Southern food. Holeman & Finch definitely delivered, with a refreshingly modern vibe. The plates are nicely proportioned so that it is easy to order a ton of different dishes to try a bunch of things, while still being able to easily clean all the plates. We got the fried okra, cornbread with sorghum butter, hush puppies, deviled eggs three ways and the fry jack. All of them were delicious and well executed, and all of it for a pretty decent price.

Clueless

By Michael R |

Went in for some White Burgundy and a wine opener for a last minute party. They said they were out of wine openers and directed me to Richard’s Variety Store in the same shopping center that had them. So why didn’t the bone heads go buy some so their customers don’t have to make two stops?! I headed over to Sherlock’s Wine Merchants for some smart wine and smarter employees. Stupid is what stupid does.

WORSE SERVICE EVER

By ROGagliano |

Where do I start on how bad the service was tonight??? We arrived @6:15 (only 3 in our group) and didn’t get greeted by our waiter until 6:27. I read the reviews that the service was very slow, but no one mentioned that you might fall asleep while waiting to just get your first beverage? We didn’t get our martinis until 7:08 and there was zero apologies for the lengthy wait!!!! We had to ask to order our appetizers and we ordered the fried oysters, pimento cheese and H & F salad, all 3 were delicious, but we received 2 of the apps and had to ask where was our salad. There wasn’t enough crackers with the pimento, so we asked for more crackers and he never brought them after a 20 min wait, so we asked the server bringing water if she could get them and said sure. Some how the waiter is so preoccupied doing what, we still have zero idea!!! It wasn’t busy. We finished our martinis and the manager asked if we wanted another and my husband said if we have to wait 35 mins for another, the answer is no and the manager laughed. I ordered the pasta carbonara and it arrived room temperature, almost cold and was so bland that I asked for pepper and salt but it was never brought to me. I’ve never had such bad carbonara in my life (I’m Italian) !!!! My daughter ordered the burger and it was like a smash burger and said it was good. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and the shrimp wasn’t opaque, it was grayish, undercooked. I had to get up to find the waiter (which every time I had to go find him he was talking to other restaurant workers and couldn’t care a less that he was oblivious that he hadn’t come to our table to ask if all was well). The manager came by to say I heard the shrimp was raw, but never once said, I’m sorry that the others have finished their meal, but instead he just walked away and ignored how poorly the experience was going at his establishment. Not one time after mistake after mistake did the waiter or manager EVER SAY I AM SORRY AND WE ARE TRYING TO CORRECT THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. To say the management is horrific is being kind, the manager should be fired. It’s like he couldn’t care a less and made zero attempts

Funky Small Restaurant/Bar. Great creative food.

By Mark B |

Holeman and Finch practically introduced foodie and gastro pub type restaurants to Atlanta. I went there probably six or seven years ago when they were the only ones with this type of menu and a to-die-for hamburger that they only served after 10pm and only while supplies lasted. The rest of the industry has now caught up to them and you have so many other restaurants that offer a similar experience. But that doesn't distract from the just superb restaurant that Holeman and Finch is. The crowd and wait list is smaller and shorter (but I would still recommend getting a reservation), but the food, service and warmth of this place are still some of the best. Start with some appetizers and a creative cocktail and then dive into the entree's and some sides. I had something called Turnips and Daikon (still not sure if I know what a Daikon is), but really flavorful. For appetizers try the broiled oysters. One of our guest had the "the burger" that you used to only be able to get after 10. But now you can get it all the time I think. It really is one of the best hamburgers you'll ever have. I think it was $14, what a deal. Holeman and Finch will be part of the Atlanta restaurant scene forever. It's just that good.

Terrific tapas, a bit of a splurge

By HongKongSojourner |

Came here with friends and shared a lot of small plates. Highlights included the seared foie gras, the blue grits, and the toffee pudding. Great atmosphere and drinks, though a bit of a splurge considering all of the other terrific places to eat in Atlanta.

Lunch tasting

By RaezoR57 |

Not really a pub, more a new style restaurant like Dario Cecchinis restaurant in Panzano. Communal tables etc. I started with an October Fest craft beer which was good. 3 devilled eggs was tasty. Smoked Duck with mustard greens and Hollandaise tasted great, although the duck was sliced too thick and the wrong way making it chewy. The Proscuitto was smoked and also cut thick, although it must be said that it's an art to slicing it correctly. After waiting so long I would have expected better. Service was okay, but as is the norm in US overly interested in how you are doing and pestering over everything. I guess most people would say something it it not as expected, I do.

Yes, the burger's really that good!

By sherpasmom1111 |

Kindof hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for and not hugely mass transit friendly if you don't have a car but I'm glad we got lost and walked a mile back to Lindbergh station to experience their burger which was on my Burger Bucket list. We had Cheeseburgers, fries, their home-made rolls as an app and a friend apple pie to share for dessert. Nothing disappointed and I'd gladly venture back to this neat place and try a broader variety next time!

Lively & Tasty

By Gail Morgan T |

Fun place with a great variety of small plates to share. Busy bar and friendly staff. Diverse crowd of all ages. Not sure how kid friendly it would be for families.

One of the best in town!

By JmPOW |

So the ridiculous amount of hype for this place is true. I recently went there to try the infamous H&F Burger - (disclaimer for newbies - they only make 24 of these a day, you need to put your order in with your server as soon as you get there to find out if you made the list, and you are not allowed to leave the establishment once you have reserved a burger). So two buddies and I headed over there at 5pm, understanding we were going to wait it out. We sat in the bar, which at first was horrible due to space limitations, but once we found a spot at the bar it was all gravy. Sarah, our bartender, was amazing. Friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and a solid drink artist. The vibe in the room was fun from start to finish. We ordered a few appetizers ranging from the steak tartare, clams (these were unreal!), and yeast rolls. EVEN THE YEAST ROLLS WERE AMAZING!!! When the clock finally struck 10pm, a man came out and yelled "IT'S BURGER TIME!!!" at the top of his lungs. There was a small "Burger" "Time" chant and then you could hear the patties hit the grill. The burger is simple. 2 delicious patties, cheese, housemade pickles, housemade ketchup and mustard on the side, housemade rolls... and when put together, I couldnt be more satisified! I would highly recommend this place for the burger and drinks, I would recommend this place for a date night, hell I would recommend this place just to walk in and look into the kitchen and watch them work their magic. I am a huge fan and will be back for more burgers in the future. SIDE NOTE: I did hear that Sunday brunch has the infamous burger too and you will not have to wait until 10pm to try it.

Good burger

By _juliensimon1977 |

Went there for dinner. We had the deviled eggs, pimento cheese and bone marrow, and shared a burger. Everything was delicious, the ambiance wasn't that great but it was a Tuesday night so it might be a bit more fun later in the week. Still, the food was great.

Good for Guys Hanging on a Saturday

By Jerry L |

Have been here two Saturdays for lunch. Seems to be a place guys go to hang out, have a really great cocktail(s), and some very reliable food. Like the deviled eggs. And the burger is quite good. Good vibe. Friendly service, though, a little slow. But on a Saturday, just relax and go with it.

Great night

By gina m |

What a great time and our waiter was super accommodating, so happy for the visit! The soft-shell crab sandwich was amazing as was the burger, wine and beer so yummy....the desserts were over the top! Thanks so much for a great dinner!

Another!!!!!!!!!!

By Maria G |

I loved my burger at Holeman & Finch do much I ordered a second one. Delicious!!!! Please stay in business !!!!!

Best burger ever!

By Natalie D |

Best Burger ever!!! I normally don't eat burgers. But this burger is to die for! It so well seasoned, hand made patty, hand cut fries and home made sauces. You can only get it all day on sundays or reserve it no later that 8 pm during the week. Yes I did say reserve it! Its that amazingly good! They only serve about 20 of them during the week. Thats why you have to reserve it. The service is very good. The bartenders are skillful and it seems as if they love what they do. My bartender was Kaleb and he was super nice and pleasant. I do not recommend a walk in since this place is usually busy and the wait might be over 45 mins. You could do a reservation online or be brave and do a walk in. It might be a bit pricey but totally worth it! Burger its (12.96 with tax) Good eats! Natalie D

Delicious & Reasonable

By ScottOnRiver |

My son has been raving about their burger and I was not disappointed! They were delicious! Lots of flavor, juicy and well worth the $14 price tag. You can even bring your fav bottle if wine with you for a nominal corking fee. I will be back!

Great Service & Amazing Food

By stacyb3890 |

After hearing many great things about Holeman and Finch, I decided to make a reservation and give it a try. Everything was wonderful! The service was quick and the food was great. We ordered the burger and deviled eggs. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning here next time I am in Atlanta! Note: I highly recommend making a reservation, this place gets packed.

Awesome food and good service

By smjkxsnoopy |

Came once with the wife and can't wait to comeback! It's fun because food is like tapas so you can try variety of things! Of course the burger is delicious (#1 in Atlanta imo) and we got the deviled eggs twice! Before 2016 your not able to order the burger whenever you want to. They only made limited amounts but now you can order whenever and however many you want.

A little disappointed...

By Chris S |

Went for the famous burgers and got talked into some not-so-great stuff. Should have stayed with the original game plan.

Great burgers

By Louis H |

I saw some bad reviews so I was not sure what to expect. We went on a Sunday around 5pm and it was pretty dead. We didn't see burgers on the menu so I got a bit confused. The waiter explained they only serve 25 burgers a day but they still had some. We also tried some of the cured meats. Really good. The service was also phenomenal. Overall it was not too expensive either. Not sure it's the best burger in town but it was incredibly good.

The Burger Exceeded Expectations

By Anna F |

Very rarely do restaurants exceed my expectations ... but this one certainly did! The burger was well worth the hype! We've never tasted anything like it. My husband had a good analogy ... he said it tastes like the burger version of a Philly cheese steak. Nonetheless, delectable. Shisito peppers were great! Pork belly was good, but not the standout like the other items. We also split a bottle of wine. Bottled wines were on the pricier side, but we found a bottle for $40 that was solid. And the sleeper was the cheese. I highly recommend the Blue Gouda. And to top it off ... the cookie, with a scoop of ice cream was heaven. Great service too!

Brunch

By Michael W |

We came here as a group of 10 for brunch and this place rocked! The craft drinks were awesome and the food was superb. Do not leave without getting a cookie.

Arrive early if you want a burger

By Chabu H |

We had heard that they make the best burgers in town so we were looking forward to it but we there right around 7:30 p.m. just to find out that they only serve 25 or so Burgers a day and they were out of them so we couldn't do that so we had a tempura cauliflower appetizer that was awesome

Comparing the Turner Stadium with the restaurant

By chas57 |

Since we were in the area I thought I would compare it to the one that I've eaten at the Ted. Sorry, but the ones at the ballpark are much better. Since we didn't have reservations we sat at the communal table (the bar was full). No worries - like at most bars you're able to find someone to have a nice conversation with.

Strange eats

I'd been here once before. I had the sheep testicles. It was....okay. This time, I decided on a burger. Not just any burger-their specialty burger. They make only 25 for the day and there's an actual countdown. I barely made it. That burger was so worth it. It was everything. It's not on the menu so you have to be in the know. You'll thank me later.
